Anywho... Parent, brother, friend-the balance is a fic where Maddie becomes Buck's legal guardian after a lengthy court battle with their parents. (He is 15, 16, and eventually 17 so teen buck) and moves him out to LA to live with her and Chimney. Its Chimney trying to figure out what he is to Buck, parent? brother? friend? And he needs to find that role, especially after catching Buck at an illegal fight ring with his fighter boyfriend Eddie (He's like 2 1/2 years older than Buck). Snippets can be found here.

Lover over blood is the return of Buck's sperm donor kid. Its future fic featuring, married Buddie, more buddie kids, and the angst of understanding what truly makes a family. Here's a snippet:

Eddie freezes when he gets close enough, immediately recognizing the child. It’s the same little boy that’s in dozens of school photos, Christmas cards, and a sleuth of other random pictures stuffed in an envelope and locked away in a filing cabinet.  Even if Eddie hadn’t seen the boy’s picture a few times a year, he would know his husband’s features anywhere.  Because they were almost the same ones his youngest son has as well. Bright blue eyes, curling locks, pert nose, and full lips hiding that bright Buckley smile Eddie loved dearly. God the kid was practically giving Eddie a glimpse of what his youngest son would look like in a few years. And this kid shouldn’t even be in the same state, let alone Los Angeles.

I never thought something would mean this much for me. I've always been chill with my queerness; I let it flow wherever and I don't focus much on it. But being bisexual has always been a label for me. Headcanoning characters as bisexual is just par for the course. And tonight, getting Buck confirmed bi hit me like a truck. Seeing that play out has me feeling so seen and proud and I am typing through tears on my couch that I get to have this.

So anyone who has something shitty to say because it isn't with eddie can consider themselves blocked. In this moment I swear to god it's not about them. Next week I'll go back to my fun shipping but this week is for me. For those of us who never realized how much having a character so dear to us be bi would mean.

I would put money on it that every show runner and exec in Hollywood is looking at the overwhelming positive reception of making buck bi AND giving fans what they want. I don’t know when it became best practice in television to do the EXACT opposite of what fans wanted but I’ve been sick of that shit. From queer ships like Destiel to het ships like Bellarke. Show runners have been sabotaging their own shows for years for the dumbest shit like being upset fans guessed the plot to flat out bigotry.

I hope they all take a good look at how successful 911 was for 7x04 and take fucking note.

The idea that Tommy, a closeted gay man who was desperately trying to fit in in a hyper macho and discriminatory environment, isn't allowed to have any growth from when he was over compensating and was a dick to Chim really pisses me off. He literally had canonical growth to the point he was going for drinks with Chim and Hen in Bobby Begins Again and they got him a fancy leaving cake.

Why isn't he allowed to grow and be better? Because he's white? Because he "gets in the way of buddie"? Because no one is allowed to say and change at all over a decade?

Like this is a queer fandom and I'd bet a lot of money that a ton of people in this fandom said and did things they weren't proud of when they were younger, especially before they came out so they could try and hide it.

I know this is quite a young fandom too but like, it was literally only a decade ago when "gay" was an insult at school and doing anything that could be get you accused of being gay was fucking social suicide. You guys have no idea how lucky you are that people at least get called out for that shit now cause they didn't when I was a kid. I would have done almost anything to just be ignored, let alone accepted, rather than being openly bisexual.

So yeah, I think Tommy is allowed to fucking change as a person because Bobby, Chim and Hen came into his life and allowed him to stop repressing. Stop being such fucking assholes. You aren't any better than him, and frankly the way some of you behave makes the way Tommy acted when he was first in the show look like a fucking saint. Touch some grass.

Here is another snippet of my Teen Buck, Fighter Teen Eddie, and Parental Chimney.

Buck’s eyes widen a fraction in surprise because Chim had never directed any sort of anger towards him or Maddie in the time that he knew the siblings. The closet Chimney ever got was in the first few weeks of Maddie having custody of her little brother.  Buck had been having a little trouble adjusting to his new school, Maddie just briefly mentioned getting tested for possible learning disabilities and the teen lashed out, angrily crying, and yelling at his sister.  Chimney snapped back in Maddie’s defense, demanding Buck apologize, but was immediately shut down by his girlfriend and sent out the apartment. When he came back, both Buckley’s were red eyed and both apologized; Buck for his outburst and Maddie for sending him away. Later Maddie would explain how back in Hershey, Buck was told numerous times over that he didn’t study hard enough, that he wasn’t all that smart, that he was just a poor learner, and his parents never did a damn thing to help. Even the suggestion that there was something hindering his ability to learn just made the ever-growing knowledge that his parents didn’t care as much as they should have, hurt even more.

I’m a bi person and I’m there in not understanding my feelings and my support system trying to make parallels with friendships, like Maddie did talking about her childhood best friend.

I am there in the confused irrationality of “this is my best friend and I am so far from him and now there is a hole in my heart that is so much bigger than I thought it would be.”

I am a bi person and I am there, on the screen, figuring shit out at 31 and having that “oh” moment, that is so small but so meaningful and so life changing.
