"Theater Complex" is an official streaming site that offers a range of Japanese stage plays with a focus on 2.5D musicals/stage plays. 2.5D musicals/stage plays refer to productions that are adapted from a 2D source material, such as manga or games.

Oh boy, prepare for some real fucking nonsense here

1. The Blues Brothers. My all time favorite. It has everything I love - amazing music and musical numbers, hilarious physical comedy, an ineffable sense of coolness, nonstop action... truly a chaotic masterpiece.

2. There Will Be Blood. We could spend days talking about the symbolism of this film and the incredible work done by Daniel Day Lewis to bring a man as odious as Daniel Plainview to life. Not to mention how electric Paul Dano is. This is my "acting" pick here, because my God is this movie entirely hoisted aloft and made brilliant by its acting.

3. Teiichi No Kuni (Teiichi's Kingdom/Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High). The story of the biggest disaster boy on earth trying to set his future path to being Japan's prime minister in motion, set during the bubble economy. An extremely bombastic ride and the only manga-to-movie adaptation I've seen that I feel truly works, mainly bc this shit is a live action cartoon.

4. Kiki's Delivery Service. I would say other Ghibli movies are "better" in terms of quality and plot, but this one holds strong sentimental value to me, as it was the first anime film I saw as a child, the first time I heard one of my other inspirations, Phil Hartman, and the movie that made me want to become an animator. That didn't pan out but there's still nothing like this for me.

5. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. My mom called this a better remake of A Star is Born than the actual remake with Bradley Cooper, and I agree. Truly the apotheosis of The Lonely Island's work, with their best songs and a deceptively simple story that, beneath the surface, is an incredibly complex web of music industry in-jokes and dense character work.

The announcement is mostly about Teiichi, Toro no Ori fans have nothing to worry about (as of now).

Here’s the announcement:

We're going to scanlate one or two more chapter of Teiichi, then we'll move onto a different method that's not going to be scanlation, but most likely the raw images next to the translation. The 2 methods that I can think of right now: - You click on the text boxes and then you can see the translation - Images on one side, translation is on the other

At the end of this post I'll post a sample page of each method, two using the first one.

You can also offer other ideas, but what's almost dead certain is that when it comes to Teiichi, we're not going to have typesetted images beyond the next (two) chapter.

This post would be way too long if I explained every single reason behind this, if you would like to know more, we can also discuss this on Discord. Just know that it's not possible for us to continue with Teiichi the way we did 'till now.

We either do this or drop the manga, which I don't want to do because there are many translated but unreleased Teiichi chapters. This manga is quite hard to work on and as far as I know, not that popular, but of course, if a scan group has the talent and resources to work on it, go ahead, just please contact us first if possible!

This might not be as pleasing to the eye as scanlated chapters, but it's better than dropping it altogether I think, not to mention how much faster it is.

You will notice that the images are edited to be a bit of a worse quality and have watermarks on them. This is because I don't want people to use the raws or the translations. Some of the raws were bought, so I don't want people to just have access to high quality raws.

If someone ends up using the images or translations to release scanlated chapters, we're going to stop altogether.

I apologize from those who hate this method or who will stop reading the releases from now, but either this or we drop Teiichi.
