I did Bryan here, so here’s Lei!

  • First impression

It’s Jackie Chan. Drunken style and five animals in a video game, neat B^)

  • Impression now

This man needs a rest and some closure. He’s been on a one-man-mission to bring down corruption for the last twenty-three years. let him rest. Interpol never even gave him a partner when he was trying to bring down the Mishima Zaibatsu. Lei never seems to notice the praise he gets and instead always pushes himself to solve the next crime whilst running himself and his personal life into the ground. He is quintessential doomed noir protagonist material.

  • Favorite moment

Gloomily, I’m going to pick his depressive moments, where he’s been so focussed on his work that he doesn’t realise his girlfriend has got together with his work assistant. And at the same time he botches an operation and nearly gets an undercover cop killed, and fellow cops who hate his glowing record play up his failure to get him suspended. Even when he’s at the lowest in his life, he just gets back to it, and tries to prevent an assassination from taking place. I think it says a lot about Lei, that when his life is going down the drain, he throws himself back into his work, even when he’s not even permitted to be on active duty. He’s not really a wallowing in self-pity type, and also cannot handle failure, and gets very hurt when his relationships inevitably fall apart around him.

  • Idea for a story

Lei’s TK5 interludes with Bryan are kinda disappointing (or rather, Bryan’s), as he doesn’t seem to remember or perhaps recognise him, despite Lei and Bryan having been former Hong Kong police acquaintences. It would be cool to see that scene but instead where Lei realises his former partner is now an undead cyborg.

  • Unpopular opinion

despite being a cool character based on an amazing martial artist, Lei still gets partitioned in my head as the cop character, so I can only love him so much.

  • Favorite relationship

I like his history with Bruce Irvin and Lei’s attempts to hunt him down. I get the feeling Lei became fixated on bringing Bruce in as a personal vendetta when he realised he couldn’t really bring the Zaibatsu down. Especially since he was just doing police work unrelated to the Zaibatsu for all of Heihachi’s tenure once Heihachi took charge after the second tournament. Lei picks back up hunting Bruce and Kazuya once they resurface again, so seems more interested in bringing them in than challenging the power and corruption of the Mishima Zaibatsu or its current CEO.
I like Lei’s scarce but still interesting history with Bryan, where he’s responsible for the shootout that killed Bryan in the first place. I think it has a lot of potential for great story material.

  • Favorite headcanon

Drawing on parts of the ‘98 Tekken motion picture, I like the idea that Jun and Lei were working together initially to uncover corruption the Zaibatsu was responsible for. I like them having a lot of respect for one another, even if they ultimately realise they have very different goals, with Lei becoming focussed on bringing Bruce Irvin to justice, and Jun seeking to save Kazuya from himself and Devil.

Tekken producer says he would like to work on Pokken Tournament 2, but it’s down to Nintendo and Pokemon Company – My Nintendo News

Famed Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada was asked by a fan on Twitter whether his team would be open to returning to the Pokemon franchise for a sequel to the popular Pokken Tournament on the Wii U and Nintendo Switch. Mr. Harada said that the team have a great relationship with both Nintendo and The Pokemon Company, so he would be happy to work on a sequel. However, he says it would ultimately be…

//In honor of Nina’s birthday today, I wanna talk about our lovely assassin. And since this is my first time making a post dedicated to a headcanon, we’re talking about a big one. Tbh it’s more of a theory I’ve been meaning to address for awhile.

𝐻𝑒𝒶𝒹𝒸𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓃: The Wedding Fiasco was a set up/accident.

Controversial, I’m aware. This is gonna get a lil long, so sit back and keep reading below the cut for my reasoning behind this.💜

Sure! It might overlap in parts with my Jin answer here

  • First impression

chains wings horns sign me tf up I will main this guy. at least when I am not playing girl with chainsaws or Lee Chaolan

  • Impression now

Represents everything Jin hates about himself, though also retains a fraction of Jin’s loves. I hope one day Jin can be free of him and find the peace he needs.

  • Favorite moment

Four favourite DJ moments spring to mind. They are all sort of predictable. 1) when a half-transformed DJ sees a vision of Jun in TK4 which fades into a statue of the Buddha and he remembers who he is before sparing his grandfather and flying away. 2) whenever DJ is in pain in scenario campaign from being close to people Jin cares for (Xiaoyu + Hwoarang) 3) TK7 ending where after Hwoarang has saved him, DJ shoots at the UN soldiers who attacked them both, then leaves. 4) a special Pachislot 4 ending where DJ remembers who Xiaoyu is and holds back from harming her. I low key also love all of DJ’s ridiculously villainous lines in TK6 scenario campaign.

  • Idea for a story

I’ve written a fair bit about Jin and DJ, including one where Jin is finally freed from DJ. I have a co-authored one that may some day see the light of day involving Hwoarang and Lee shipwrecked on an island and DJ loose in the jungle B^)

  • Unpopular opinion

I don’t think I have any unpopular DJ opinions. Maybe that Jin’s devil gene would probably cause less harm if it was just reunited to Kazuya. Since Kaz being in control of his seems to generally cause less havoc than the manic entity that is Devil Jin.

  • Favorite relationship

Devil Jin and Hwoarang’s tragic arc. Where even though DJ nearly kills Hwoarang in TK5, Hwoarang just makes it his mission in life to help Jin. And even saves DJ’s life in TK7.

I also like the non-canon TTT2 Jun and DJ interactions – I cant believe I forgot to write how much I love Jin and Jun’s relationship in my Jin answer nvm (I love it a lot) – where Jun stretches out a hand and stops DJ and he writhes around in frustration, I think @claudioseraph once said it looks like he’s just been grounded by mum, which is the perfect to describe it

  • Favorite headcanon

Devil Jin seems to lack lots of the cunning that Kaz’s devil has, and seems much more animalistic. Given that it was only awakened in Jin three years ago and has been suppressed by him and is often explosively violent when it breaks free, I wonder if it isn’t an almost childish newborn kind of devil-like entity, fused part way between Jin and the original devil creature who inhabits him. I like the idea that it is learning and gaining power and is currently still quite simplistic in its desires and attempts to act on them.

<3

  • First impression

he looks good. I like his silver hair. why does he make such strange noises? oh I see they are meant to be like bruce lee kiai. one of the few characters I can play

  • Impression now

I would also die for this man. Tragic story of orphan kid adopted into a wealthy family that never really cared for him and his gradual attempt to make something of himself and grow a classy, charming, polite exterior over everything terrible that’s happened in his life. I think he’s probably the most interesting character in the Tekken series.

  • Favorite moment

Where to start with Lee… Some of my favourite moments for him are only hinted at in lore. Like the fact that Kazuya gave him a humiliating position in the Zaibatsu, but that, whatever happened towards the end of Tekken 2, Heihachi believed that Lee had betrayed him to side with Kazuya, so that despite all their differences and Kazuya’s cruelty towards him, Lee seems to have stuck by his brother at least when it came to choosing between him and Heihachi. I love the moment in Heihachi’s scenario campaign (TK6) when he arrives at Violet Systems and Lee is outraged when he sees him. Pretty much every other person, Lee is sassy and cool with, then Heihachi turns up and Lee sounds like an angry kid. I think it tells volumes about how much he isn’t over the past hurting him. I also love all the hints at corporate espionage and behind the scenes manoeuvring that he does, with his TK7 spy satellites, his covert funding of Lars’s Yggdrasil, his investments in G Corporation, Sea Horse Hotel area, his full on undercover spies in G Corporation, the way he quietly manipulates Lars to do his dirty work for him, and even his Pachislot 4 desire to keep his hands clean whilst still funding all of Yggdrasil’s operations against the Zaiabtsu. Anyway I could probably keep going forever, but with Lee it’s always the quieter scenes with him I love. And of course his TK5 interlude with Kazuya and how not-calm and collected he is.

  • Idea for a story

Again, I have written a lot for Lee and in many ways all my Tekken stories are about exploring the gradual change in relationship between him and Kazuya. I have some co-authored stories in the works about Lee, looking at AUs where he found Jin sooner, and AUs where things might have gone differently had he and Kazuya communicated a little more. Maybe some day I will also do one where Violet Systems was responsible for Kazuya’s revival, or at least had subsumed G Corporation to be a wing of it early on.

  • Unpopular opinion

Probably my commitment to the idea that even in TK7 era, Lee still has hope that he can redeem Kazuya and that these might conflict with Lars and Jin’s intentions.

  • Favorite relationship

I have a lot… I love the depiction of his relationship with Heihachi, where Lee can’t seem to decide if he wants to humiliate Heihachi or gain his respect, and Heihachi just stomps on Lee ever time he sees him – also Heihachi being intent on humiliating Lee rather than bothering to kill him like he tries to with Kazuya. Lee can’t seem to gain all of his attention even when it comes to being hated. I love what we see of his relationship with Kazuya, where they’re insistent on this rivalry even though they both know it was created by Heihachi and they both hate Heihachi more. I love that Kazuya is one of the few people Lee still isn’t good at holding his temper around, and I love their dynamic in TK6 where Lee is spying on Kaz and then when Kazuya confronts him about it in his scenario campaign Lee just does upsidedown face emoji but can you prove it (: And I love the chaotic flirting energy Lee has with Anna, where they just turn any moment together into a battleground of innuendo whilst somehow also being impeccably polite and classy about it. I also like his relationship with Lars, and Lee’s support (and subtle manipulation) of him, and how even though they have very different methods they seem to get on well and to finally be the family they’d hoped to find in Heihachi.

  • Favorite headcanon

What’s my favourite Lee headcanon… maybe that he feels obliged to save Jin because he feels he failed Kazuya. Maybe that he bought those G Corp shares to keep a closer eye on Kazuya but also to feel closer to him. Maybe that as he watched Heihachi killed he only felt frustration and sadness that he’d never got the closure or love he wanted from his father. Maybe that he only ever lets people love an exterior facade and pushes them away whenever they get close to him or try to hold on to him.

Answer

here he is, dearest byron

  • First impression

this guy seems a little unhinged. is he dead? is he part robot? does he talk or just only maniacally laugh?

  • Impression now

That he’s a deeply hurt guy with a pathological fear of abandonment rooted in Lei Wulong turning on him and shooting him when he found out about his police corruption, and then Dr Abel abandoning him after he experimented on him. His violence and love of cruelty and pain seem to be in response to believing that no one gives a damn about him. And I love his Roy Batty vibes.

  • Favorite moment

In Tekken 6 scenario campaign he tells basically ever character who approaches him that he happens to be with all these G Corp escaped experiments because he’s looking for some people to pick on and have a fight with. But he’s not picking on those experiments is he, and you’re an unknown third party threatening them. And he was an experiment himself who was abandoned. Im just saying Bryan trying hard to be an asshole but that it looks a lot to me like he was taking care of a group of people fleeing trouble like he once had.

  • Idea for a story

Reunion where he and Lei have a heart to heart and Lei helps Bryan get some much needed therapy.

  • Unpopular opinion

Not sure I have an unpopular Bryan opinion!

  • Favorite relationship

His past history with Lei makes for a really interesting relationship in potential, and I like the idea that they are still bitter at each other years later. I like Bryan’s enmity with Yoshimitsu, and Bryan’s complicated relationship with Dr Abel and Dr B, where he clearly hates them but also expects things of them in a dependant childlike way, and lashes out at them out of fear that the trust he has to place in them will be abused.

  • Favorite headcanon

He’s not as unfeeling and lost to cruelty as he makes out. There’s still a guy in there somewhere who cares.
