He is so so so sure that he is not insane because of his high intelligence and planning skills, also his increased sense of hearing is DEFINITELY NOT because he’s insane but because he can just hear well :) yeah he can hear the old man’s heartbeat after he’s dead, what about it? also he is under the impression that killing the old man is justified because he has a weird eye
Marvin propaganda:
this bitch is crazy you can't trust a thing she says!!!! but um seriously he is neurotic and while recounting his childhood everything is wack and doesn't make sense and ummm. Idk the man lies he withholds information (such as names of main characters he deems unworthy or important details) he makes he presents his fantasies like actual canon events (how marvin eats his breakfast, rape of ms goldberg) he tries to convince himself and therefore us that he's straight ummm he's just a little freak and an attention whore and a liar and a fugly slut and i love him. I appreciate Phillip being stressed out of his ever loving mind - absolutely chewing glass.
Earnestly was waiting for this man to either lunge at either of them, or more likely
“Motherfucker!” He just flips open the chest himself being unable to take it anymore. “There! There! Look” etc - man was having a tell tale heart attack the whole time - he was this close.
Staring nervously at the floorboards below me as I hear the beating of the heart but it is in fact the music coming from the RGB speakers for the family-sized party across the street
For Halloween night, my share-offering is this absolutely excellent reading of Poe's The Tell-tale Heart by Matthew Gray Gubler, the king of quirks. Every once in a while, I relisten to this and every time I am floored.
Reposting this Poe adaptation I drew in 2019 for the spooky season. Still looooove how this came out. Never been in print unfortunately the anthology it was supposed to be in never got printed because of Covid
in 222 the line “I can't ignore what's under dance floorboards The rhythm of my heart a dead-as-disco beat” and “I hear your heart beating under the floorboards the rhythm is a gospel to me” In misanthropologist are both (possibly) in reference to Edger Allen Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart”.
So, God forbid I'm seen just as an average human being I mean, imagine if protagonists just died in the first scene I'm the gap between a tragedy and comedy Don't come at me I'm the main character, and you have to like me
Narrator of Tell Tale Heart propaganda:
The OG, the meme, he has it all

Edgar Allan Poe went hard when he said " Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore."
