I think most stories could benefit from having two characters whose relationship is just "those two guys" (gender neutral). Most of the time if you look for one of them you'll find both of them. They can hate each other or be the best of friends or something in-between but they just can't find that same spark with anyone else. Their relationship is best described as "do not separate them". They are fully fleshed out characters individually but if either of them are left alone without the other for any reason it feels so wrong.
ok, the kiss on the hand, the kiss on the head, the hugs. everything is very tender and I love it.
But is anyone talking about how the Doctor stops himself from blaming Donna for the cafe accident? …I mean, come on. It's very nice of him not want to blame her or just not tell her. Like he stops him self and says “sorry”.
this 14 Doctor doesn't want to see Donna sad. he just wants her to be okay. and he knows how much Donna blames herself for being a little dumb at times. and the Doctor remembers very well how those words stay in Donna's mind. How she spends all her time telling herself how stupid she is. and he doesn't want that for her.
I think that tortured him for many years. That she couldn't see how brilliant she is. and obviously how much he loves her.
So in this chapter we can see how He lets all the affection he has for Donna show. He will never hide it anymore.
from holding on to blaming her for the coffee, apologizing when he mentions it. and obviously calm her down when she's about to break down and obviously at the end they're both in shock from what they just went through and he can't take it anymore and kisses her head. I think that was not for Donna, but for himself. he needed to do it. knowing that she is there save with him and that he almost lost her.
They love and appreciate each other so much. I really love their dynamics, their jokes and how they annoy each other. … they are the best. the best duo!
Btw sorry for the bad English, the traductor is a trash. Sometimes
i love how donna responds to the doctor's anger!! rose and martha both absolutely held their own against him, but he had to reach a certain level of genuine bullshittery before either of them stepped in and went "hey maybe stop." the doctor will explain a basic time travel principle to donna and she will go "well i don't like it and i diagnose YOU as the problem." has he been around for 900 years? yes. is it technically his box? yes. does she care? not even a little bit
dr who really is just about holding hands while running huh (and i mean this both jokingly and seriously. its about loving people under all circumstances. its about staying close to that one special person even when its so dangerous that staying together is just inconvenient. but you do it anyways because theyre your special person and how would you get out of the Problem Of The Week without them??????? but it's also about holding hands while running)
"I've got this friend, called Robin Buckley. And she is my best friend in the whole wide universe. I absolutely love her." - Steve Harrington about Robin
One of my favourites thing about donna and ten is the way the doctor simply loves her not in a romantic way but in a "donna you're brilliant" way. He's so impressed and loving the way she simply is and the way she was like " bring me back to my wedding you crazy martian" or "you're not mating with me, sunshine !" was unusual for him because his other companions weren't like that but that did him so good. But she's even more than that, she's so ready to help him into making him realising things like " you're talking all the time but you don't say anything" or "I think sometimes you need someone to tell you to stop doctor" and I love her for that. Also, the way that ten said " you saved my life in so many ways" and was just knowing her for like 3 days and later we realise that indeed just by meeting him she saved his life shows the importance and greatness of there relationship. ( Plus, they're really hilarious together )
there are no words to describe how much i cherish this scene and this exchange specifically... donna's "i keep telling you i'm not [special]" and the doctor replying, "oh, but you are" in such a nonchalant way because it wasn't even meant to be a compliment or an opinion— to him it was just the truth!! plain and simple!!!!!! ten always told her she was special and brilliant even when donna barely had the courage to see herself as anything more do you understand!!!!!!
i'm so terribly fond of them like this is barely even scratching the surface of my ten&donna-induced insanity i could write a whole dissertation on how they were brought together exactly at a time when they needed each other the most
