Go Through It Not Around It
Pairing: Tendou Satori x Reader
Word Count: ~1.7k
Genre: Hurt/Comfort
Warnings: avoidance tendencies, overworking, mentions of death, dealing with loss, a full breakdown, mentions of alcohol
Summary: I don’t like to go through things that hurt me. Not if I can help it. I learned from a young age that if you keep busy you don’t have to think. Your body goes on auto pilot, until eventually, it won’t hurt anymore. You forget why you’re working. Five minutes of tears here, a couple glasses of wine there. Satori just wanted me to breathe, he didn’t know what that would do to me.
Tumblr media
You don’t understand how some people can take something that hurts them and just let themselves feel it. To take it in stride and process it immediately. You never could.
Maybe it was because you spent so long ignoring those sorts of things to take care of others. So concerned that they were processing, healing, that you didn’t mind if it meant you weren’t. Maybe that was why you hated to go through things that hurt me.
Well it isn’t like anyone is fond of things that hurt them, but you hate going through it. So you don’t. Not if you can help it. You learned from a young age that if you keep busy then you don’t have to think about it. You can take care of others, you can work, you can submerge yourself in the everyday. Your body just goes on autopilot. Pour yourself a couple glasses of wine, give yourself a few minutes to cry about it and then push it away. Eventually you forget why you’ve been working so much. Eventually it won’t hurt anymore. Eventually you think about it and its just so distant that you don’t even realize that it could hurt you.
It wasn’t like you were very close to the family member that passed. You hadn’t seen them in years actually. Barely talked to them before that too. It wasn’t like they played a huge part in your life. But it was still a shock when you got the news. In the middle of an already stressful week.
A call from your mom, to tell you the news. To tell you that, if you wanted to, she could help you fly home for the funeral. The thought of death made you feel something you couldn’t quite explain. The loss of the thing that was supposed to last the longest. It made everything seem so…temporary.
You couldn’t take the time off so you did the opposite. Picked up more shifts. Told all your coworkers to give you their unwanted shifts. You picked up slack for the group projects for your classes. It slipped your mind, responding to the people you usually spoke to 24/7.
Specifically, it slipped your mind speaking to Satori. Your sweet boyfriend who didn’t get an explanation as to why you’d dropped off the grid, hours floating between your messages as you lost track of time while working. Half excuses falling from your fingertips as you typed out sincere apologies for your absence.
The clock to your right blinked 12:02am. It was way past the time to sleep, but you currently had an array of papers spread across the floor in front of you. The idea of sleep had to be pushed to the side for now, this project just days away from needing to be finished. You were trying to find your pencil under the papers when a knock on the door came.
You tilted your head in confusion, blinking at the door for a second, and then there was another knock. You pulled myself off the floor and walked dazedly towards the door. Gently prying it open you were greeted with a familiar head of red hair.
“‘Tori?” You questioned softly. “What are you doing here so late?”
“Oh you’re alive. Good.” He stepped past you into your small apartment and stopped to look down at the floor and your pile of papers. “Haven’t seen you in almost a week, which is weird cause I, you know, live just a couple floors away.”
“I’m sorry,” you whispered, moving towards the little kitchen to pull a glass out of the cabinet, meaning to get you both a glass. “I’ve been working a lot.”
“What time did you get home?” He pressed, bending to assess and sort through your mess of papers.
“An hour ago.” You pulled some leftovers out of the fridge, the thought he might be hungry sending a pang through your own stomach as well. When had you eaten last? Had you remembered lunch?
“Thought you worked early today?” He questioned, glancing over at you as he lifted your papers onto your desk.
“I did; started at 8am. Picked up some overtime.” You refused to look over at him as you heard him swear lightly under his breath and set the papers down.
“Y/n.” You didn’t turn. You could hear the disappointment lacing through his tone. He knew you had a tendency to throw yourself into work. “Your mom called me.” Now you froze.
“She did what?” You couldn’t believe her. She had no right. She-
As if reading your mind he cut the thoughts off. “She was worried about you. Hasn’t heard from you. Told me someone passed away and then you disappeared.” You sighed and went back to the food in front of you. Pulling some of the pasta from the container into a bowl. “Called your work. They told me you’ve worked 50 hours in the past week. Haven’t had a day off in 11 days.”
“So you’re stalking me.” You snapped, rolling your eyes as you placed the bowl in the microwave. You’d meant for it to be a slight joke but the irritation and tiredness had begun to seep into your words.
“I’m checking on you!” He exclaimed, traveling the distance over to stand next to you. “Y/n, you’re meant to talk about these things. To take time off.”
“No.” You muttered. Pulling the food out of the microwave and moving back towards the glasses that needed water in them. “I don’t want to talk about it. I have things to do.” You shook your head and grabbed your water jug. “I have to finish this project and I work early tomorrow, maybe you should go home and I’ll call you when I’m off.”
“You don’t work tomorrow.” You scoffed. “You don’t work the next day either.” That was a lie and you opened your mouth to tell him but- “When I talked to your job they told me both those shifts were picked up from other people and that they need you to take those days off but you seem to be ignoring that. Its becoming a legal issue.”
“Its only a legal issue if I didn’t agree to it.” You argued, pouring the glasses before setting the jug back down.
“You need a break.” He insisted. “You need to breathe.” He tried to put a hand on your arm but you shook it off. A pang of guilt ran through you for a second, feeling bad that you were treating him this way. He didn’t understand though. You didn’t need a break, you needed to- “They died.”
“Stop.” You instructed, the words pulsing into your ears.
“Y/n.” Satori tried to come into your view and you caught the glimpse of red hair before turning away again. “They died. Have you even processed it?”
“Satori stop.” You whispered, trying to wrap your shaking hand around your glass. “I just need to work.”
“How much have you slept this week?”
“It’s fine.”
“It’s not. You need a break.”
“Stop.”
“No.” Tendou turned you around, forced you to face him. To really look at him for the first time in over a week. “You can’t just go around grieving y/n.” He scolded. His words were harsh but he was looking at you like anything but. His hair fell in light waves (evidence he’d probably just gotten out of the shower before coming here) and fell just below his eyebrows. Eyebrows that were stitched together in concern, eyes looking down at you softly as they took in your appearance. You were sure you looked as ragged as you felt, with messy hair and smudged makeup, bags under your eyes. He didn’t look like he’d been getting much sleep either. “Dammit y/n. Go through it, not around it. You have to process it.”
“Stop.” You whispered with less conviction this time. You could feel the water start to gather on your lashes as you thought about them. The family member you should have been closer to. “Please, ‘Tori, don’t make me.” You begged, shaking your head lightly. “I just need to work.” You tore yourself from his grasp and tried to grab for your food but twisted yourself while turning and the food fell, bowl clattering to the ground as pasta spilt. “Fuck.” You cursed, falling to your knees and immediately trying to scoop the pasta back up.
“Y/n,” Satori whispered softly, following you to the ground, “look at me please.” His voice was gentler now, hands cupping your face, rough fingers brushing softly at the tears that you now realized were falling freely from your eyes.
“Satori.” You let out a small sob as your voice caught and could see his eyes water at the sight of you starting to shake. “They’re gone and I don’t even remember the last time I saw them.” You cried. “I don’t remember the last time I talked to them.” He shushed you softly, pulling you into his body. The longer you thought about it the more you started to cry, breath hiccuping and body shaking. All the built up emotions piling out, breaking the seams and consuming you. “I don’t even have a right to-“
“Hey.” He scolded lightly, his hand smoothed over your head, pushing your hair down in that spot and pressing a soft kiss. “Let’s go to bed.”
“But the work-“
“Can wait.” He said, easily scooping you into his arms and carrying you towards your room. “You can take two days off and let me take care of you.”
He didn’t mean to cause this, he just wanted you to breathe. Wanted you to process so that you could get through it and be able to think about it in the future without it consuming you then too. You knew this was the healthy way. But laying in his arms, sobs racking your tired body as he held me tightly against him. Feeling the tightness in your chest expanding as you stopped ignoring it, as you truly felt it— you truly felt terrible. Because you knew that you would end up doing this again. And if he stuck around, Satori would have to remind you again to process this way instead of the other. If he—
“I’m not going anywhere my love,” as if he could read your mind, “I’m always going to be here when you need me you just have to let me.”

"I'm home"
The domestic phrase was said under a breath, not intended for anybody specific to hear
If you arrived at 1 am it didn't make sense to expect your lover being awake, that's what you thought
This shift had been pretty rough on you: the new director of the ER acting like an spoiled brat, the countless patients that went through the door (counting the ones who didn't actually need an urgent attention), the lack of specialists and so on
Your feet were bloated by the prolonged standing, you felt your chapped lips and wondered when was the last time you drank water, and the subtle pulsations on your temple were just a forecast of the sweet migraine you'll experience in the morning
Now you really wanted to cry, but even for that, you were dehydrated
Suddenly your heart jumped out of your chest when you felt a warm breath just above your ear
"Back home already hmm?"
A pair of strong arms immediately circled your waist, accompanied by the caress of your thighs, nothing innapropiate behind it, he just knew how your muscles would get all tense after a hard day.
"Was it so hard for all of those smartasses to let go my girl back to me?"
The kiss on the back of your head, even if it wasn't acetaminophen, weakened your headache. You could only sigh and relax under the touch
"Mhmm seems like it is like that. I'm the one supposed to arrive late and to make up to you about it aren't I?"
His soft touches migrated to your shoulders, spinning you around so you could look at him, your red eyes meeting his droopy ones.
"My poor poor darling, so smart they need her all the hours of the day"
Each word and touch, lulling you to relaxation and comfort
Finally your body answered and you could say with honesty
"I'm home"

How to kill someone
Tendou Satori x f!reader
Summary: Satori was alone his whole life. Always the monster that nobody wanted around until he found someone that would stay with him till the end.
Words: 2.5k
Warnings: bullying, insults, implied suicidal thoughts, loneliness, angst, hurt/comfort
Tumblr media
There was only a little boy sitting at a large table filled with plates and cups for no one to be used, with drinks and snacks that no one would touch. He had a little party hat on his red hair but no one who he would share all the happiness, that once radiated of him, with. His little hands were clenched tightly into his new shirt, his bottom lip wobbling and his eyes becoming glassy but no tear was shed. A woman with a large smile came into the room, holding a cake with chocolate gloss all over it. It wasn`t a masterpiece but it showed that she cared.
“Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Satori. Happy birthday to you!” Before her silvery voice could finish the song the boy in front of her started weeping. His face scrunched up until a stream of tears followed. His mother gently placed the cake on the fully decorated table, just to crouch down next to her boy and hold him tightly. “Ohh honey, I´m so sorry.” His tears were soaking into the fabric of her wonderful dress but she didn`t budge. She didn`t push him away or reprimand him for ruining it. Satori was just a child desperately wanting to feel loved and if his friends couldn`t do that, then his mother would need to step up. “Why didn`t they come?” His little hand still clinging to her form while his pleading eyes were looking right through her. How should she answer that? How should she explain to her son that his friends were playing with his feelings, trying to torture him? “I don`t know, darling.” She tried smiling, lifting the corners of her mouth but it couldn`t reach her eyes, because she knew. They both did.
Tumblr media
Every year after that he tried again and again. But no one ever showed up to his birthday parties. After that, the first day of middle school was the chance he had been waiting for. He was bouncing with energy, ready to make everything right. When his mom pulled up to school to drop him off he saw all these unfamiliar children. The reason for all the nervous tugging and quickly looking around from others, was the reason Satori's heart was nearly pounding out of his chest, accompanied by a big smile. Nobody knew him here. Nobody to ignore him, pretend to be his friend but call him names behind his back. It was finally going to be better.
His mother tried to give him a reassuring smile, holding his hands for a second too long with clammy hands while saying goodbye. As soon as her boy turned around running over to the other kids going to his classroom, her smile fell and she started nibbling on her bottom lip. Nearly making it bleed again after doing it repeatedly for the last few days. He was gonna be alright. Satori bounded into his new classroom. Eyes sparkling with excitement. Finally, after everything he would find friends. He could join a sports club to find people that had the same interests as him. They could train together and go to tournaments. He would be just like everybody else.
One of his little hands was reaching for the doorknob of the classroom while his other one was holding the strap of his backpack. Squeezing it occasionally to contain his excitement. The door was pushed open and a few heads turned around with big eyes. Nervousness radiating off them to see who else would be in their class. Satori's smile stretched over his whole face, showing his teeth that were still a bit too big for his mouth. His eyes scrunched together a bit. His eyes scanned the crowd for a place to sit, waving shyly at his new classmates that were still watching him until his eyes landed on them. Two boys, who seemed ohh so innocent but were the demons his nightmares were made of. His supposedly friends, which ignored him, talked behind his back and called him bad names at the end of primary school. They were everything he had wanted to avoid for his new beginning. "Hey, look who else is here?" Akui pointed out. He was a plain-looking kid. Dark hair falling over his face and almost hiding his small brown eyes. He was gesturing towards Satori, making the other boy at the table next to him turn around. Yumekuis freezing cold eyes fell on him and a wicked smirk danced along his features that had to look so innocent to everyone else seeing their interaction.
"Hey freak, nice to have you back in our class." The glint in his eyes darkened while he waved toward Satori and made a gesture to the table in front of them. They wanted him to sit with them. It wasn`t a friendly request so they could all be together. It was meant to be Satori's slow execution. He wanted to torture everything that Satori stood for. But he sat. Even though everything in him screamed to stand up, to run, to fight, to cry, to do anything but sit. He sat. Moving mechanically and not moving a muscle after he had found his place. He was paralyzed. The cruel truth of destiny had shown him that he could not outrun his fate. All other children would have been ecstatic to see a familiar face in the same room as them but for Satori it was a nightmare come true. Satori had thought weeks before stepping foot into his new classroom that things would be finally better, but after a few months, he realized how horrible it was going and that nobody had his back except for himself. And even he wanted to give himself up so badly and put a knife in his heart to end it all. The pain and suffering. The feelings. From day one everyone was against him. He became the monster. The soul-sucking demon nobody was allowed to touch otherwise you got a disease.
It was the second period. Their teacher had written a math problem on the blackboard and tried to explain a new formula to solve it. But it was hard to listen when little paper pieces were stuck in his hair and occasionally wet pieces found their way to his forehead. Satori was never sure if someone used water from their bottle for it or just their own saliva. His table was filling up with garbage from every side. But their teacher stayed oblivious. Never calling the other students out and putting an end to the battle against the monster, as the other children often called it. As if he was a demon that would steal the happiness out of their lives and they had to fend him off.
It never ended there. Throwing garbage was just the beginning and as the months progressed his classmates grew braver. Putting his binders into the trash followed by his backpack. They stole his homework and pulled down his pants. It was exhausting. He was always waiting for the next attack. A new move they would pull on him to hurt him. It didn`t matter what he did to prevent it. They were always there. Watching him, waiting for the perfect opportunity to attack and humiliate him. All their eyes were always on him. He could even feel them at home in the own comforts of his room. Middle school was hell and Yumekui was the reason it got created. The redhead was at the top of the mountain called loneliness and was just a slight push away from rolling down the other side, plummeting into a deep, cold lake that would finally freeze him. An end that he could already see from the top. It didn`t take long as the last push came. He was a stone that got kicked down, so it could sink into the darkness.
It was a Thursday afternoon and the sun was shining mercilessly down onto the courtyard. From the window, he could see children playing basketball or hide and seek. They all had huge smiles plastered onto their faces and even the kid that fell a second ago, was already on his feet again when one of his friends stretched a hand out to him and helped him up. Satori also needed someone to help him up. He joined the volleyball team of his school to find a person that could understand him. Instead, he found his talent. A passion that had kept him alive for longer. One that gave him hope. They had training on Thursday afternoons but as he wanted to grab his bag full of sportswear, he grabbed into nothingness. His bag was not where he had left it. The emptiness of the coat rack was taunting him. He could already see the disappointed and pitying eyes of his mother when another binder got lost or his backpack broke again. But losing his sportswear was worse because he knew he would have never misplaced it. Volleyball was his dream. He would never be so careless as to jeopardize it. The snickers coming from the last remaining students in the classroom also confirmed it. He hadn`t misplaced or lost it. It got stolen, because everyone hated him and no one wanted to play with him. No one could endure the satisfaction in his eyes when he blocked another spike and finally had the upper hand. So when they had a chance to take away his safe space. His paradise. They stopped at nothing. No feelings or expenses were spared because for them he didn`t deserve it. Satori went with hanging shoulders out of the classroom, eyes fixated on the floor so nobody could see the tears dripping down his cheeks. He was just a boy scared his whole life would be similar. Full of people that didn`t know him but hated him for his looks. He was scared that the bullying would only get worse, with no one to rely on but himself. He walked slowly down the corridor. Thinking about just going home, skipping training when anyways nobody wanted him there. Or if he should go to the gym, make up an excuse about forgetting his sports clothes. Standing his ground and showing his classmates that they couldn`t take that from him. But would it be worth it? To arrive there and only see disgusted faces. Two girls were coming his way, whispering their words and snickering quietly. They had something to do with it. Satori could see it in their eyes. They knew and they didn`t look at him with pity, they thought he deserved it. Until screaming was heard from the end of the corridor.
A girl was standing with their back towards him, gripping a bag that looked incredibly familiar while Yumekui was holding onto the other end. "Stop it! These are not yours!" The girl pressed out. Her whole face was red for exertion but her hands were not budging when Yumekui tried to rip it out of them once more. Satori walked closer to the action to confirm what he already thought. A girl he didn`t know was fighting for his gym clothes. Yumekui's hardened eyes lifted and fell automatically onto Satori. Immediately he let go of the bag and put an annoyed look on his face. Letting the girl stumble back but smile in victory. "Tsk, whatever. Keep this dirty thing." The boy tried to sound nonchalant but failed with the look he threw one last time at the pair before turning around. After he was gone the girl sighed in relief. The last tension was leaving her body before Satori spoke up and she went rigid again.
"That`s my bag." He said timidly, pointing with his long fingers toward her hands. Immediately she jerked around, her eyes wide. "Sorry! I wanted to bring it back but I wasn`t sure who it belonged to and Yumekui didn`t want to give it to me." She rapidly explained, putting a small smile on Satori's face which seemed to relax her. "Where did you find it?" "It was in the bin at the entrance." She explained while handing it over to the boy who had lost his smile again. The truth dawned on him, that this would happen more often now and Yumekui would always find new places to hide it. "I like your smile more." She spoke up once again, a frown now also gracing her lips. Satori took cautiously a step back. His brain going a mile a minute trying to figure out where the trap is. Was that girl in it as well? Is she only pretending to play nice to play an even sicker joke? Was she faking liking him, be his friend only to abandon him? Point with a finger at him, laughing uncontrollably while asking who would want to be the friend of a monster. He imagined a thousand scenarios but her eyes looked at him with so much concern that he couldn`t find the will to just run. He couldn`t even form words but she seemed to understand his inner turmoil. "Are you good at volleyball?" A shy nod followed from Satori before his eyes found the floor again. "Do you want to play before the next lesson starts?" His head jerked up, surprise flashing through his eyes while she just smiled. Satori eyed her suspiciously but she was unfazed, just waiting for him to confirm or deny. So he nodded making her beam at him even brighter before she took his hand and bounded with him over to the yard. "I`m (Y/N) (L/N) by the way. Nice to meet you." After that, there was always someone to hold him. They would play volleyball together and (Y/N) would look at him as if he was a miracle. She would always come to his birthday parties or as they got older, plan them herself. Their last year at Shiratorizawa came around and it was clear they all would go their separate ways. Moving to different cities or even countries and chasing their own dreams. Satori's birthday rolled around again. He was no longer filled with dread when he thought about that day because he knew there was always at least one person to remember it. When he came to class that morning a muffin was standing on his table and behind it, Semi and Ushiwaka were standing with neutral expressions. "Hey, guys. Is that for me?" Satori beamed, eyeing the little treat excitedly. "Of course, it's for you. Happy Birthday." Semi rolled his eyes at him but had a small smile on his lips. "I also wish you a pleasant birthday, Tendou." The redhead laughed thanking his ever-stoic friend as he gave him a little bag with presents their whole team had contributed to. Just as he was about to look at it another voice filled the classroom. The door flung open and loud panting was heard, followed by singing as Satori turned around. "Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy Birthday dear Satori. Happy Birthday to you!" Her face was bright red and her hair disheveled. It was the most beautiful sight he had seen all morning. "Thank you, Paradise." It wasn`t only gratefulness for her to remember his birthday but for her to stand by his side for all these years and save him from himself.

The Façade will always fall (Tendou x shy!reader)

Y/N=your name

Background: you are a first year at Shiratorizawa who struggles (quite) a bit with certain aspects of school (essay writing, presentations, being taken advantage of for projects, etc.) and Tendou is a 3rd year and was assigned to be your tutor by the school after the first one had transferred schools for a better basketball program. And you’re in a dance club.
With all of that out of the way let’s get started:
YOUR POV(1st person):
Today felt harder than usual. And by that I mean everything in my day from the small mundane things like getting out of bed and eating breakfast (which spoiler alert I did not do like usual honestly) all the way to the big test I had been grinding study hours for which made me worry I was going to have to get more help from my new tutor that I still haven’t met yet.
We weren’t even halfway through the day when I knew what the outcome of my worst classes would be. Even though I know I’m meeting my new tutor after this class I’m heading to. At least I’m supposed to meet them during lunch which gives me a decent chunk of time to work.
English
The class where I constantly had issues being the one who was too shy to make groups myself and was the one who always ended up doing all the work. Even at some points having to stutter through 90% of the presentation because my groupmates didn’t feel like contributing.
I thought about what sadistic plans my teacher had for our class while I was walking to English whether it was an essay, popcorn reading, or worst of all: group project.
I arrived at my class 2 minutes early as usual and slid unceremoniously into my seat in the middle of the room and took out my book as my peers steadily entered the classroom and also took their seats.
The first 5 minutes of class were normal with us having to write a 2 paragraph composition based on a thought provoking question and us sharing with the class what our answers were. I never wanted to share my opinions out of fear that my opinions and answers would differ from my classmates’ answers.
But right as the teacher was about to call on another student to share when the class phone rang. The teacher sighed as she walked over and answered the phone only conversing for a measly 15 seconds with her only answer being “ok I’ll send her over there now”. The murmurs spread through the class with assumptions of who it could possibly be.
When the teacher finally quenched our need to know who this lucky soul was to be able to leave:
“Ms.L/N you are needed in the office”
“Mrs.T/N may I please return here to retrieve the work later?”
“I’ll see about that, the assignment may be waived entirely” I walked hurriedly and anxiously towards the office mulling over what the reason could be for me needing to be there.
As I sat and waited in the office I finally heard my name be called by the counselor
I walked in and there was the counselor and sitting across from her is a boy with venetian red hair and a pleasant aura surrounding him.
“Ms.L/N I know you were supposed to meet your tutor during lunch but I thought it would be most beneficial for you to meet him now. Y/N L/N meet your tutor 3rd year Satori Tendou. He will be assisting you for the rest of the year.”
“N-nice t-to meet y-you T-Tendou-san.” I say as I shakily bring my hand out for a shake knowing what’s what I was trained to do. “Well it’s nice to meet you too Y/N-chan! I look forward to helping you out!”
I liked this guy already. Which was rare because 90% of the time people’s first impressions for me were not positive as people thought timid=needs to be infantilized. And he didn’t do that. All he did was show genuine interest in a genuine fashion.
“Great! Feel free to use any empty study rooms in the library. Oh and you will both be excused from your classes for the rest of the day to get acquainted with each other!”
And as they say the rest was history…
PRESENT DAY
“Alrighty Y/N-chan you can do this! I believe in you!”
“I-I don’t know a-about that what if I fail?!?!”
“With research that good it won’t matter how you choose to present it! But if the actual presentation aspect is what’s scaring you, then we can work on that! Besides, I know how excited you’ve been about this topic! You can’t give up now!”
He wasn’t wrong. I had been looking forward to researching and debating the efficacy of certain media types in regards to Ethos, Pathos, Logos in the form of persuasion.
“Why don’t we practice the wording and style of your presentation? I think practicing will help calm your nerves.”
“O-okay. Why music can enhance the efficacy of product advertisement…”
I was just winging it honestly as he looked interestingly at me while I was talking. Not speaking. Just all eyes on me flitting between my face and the computer with my slides.
“...so in conclusion contemporary music is most effective at enhancing the efficacy of product advertisement.”
“Ok that was great! You should probably tweak your introductory title to… aha! ‘Why contemporary music is the most effective advertisement enhancement.’ easy!” He said all of this as he swiftly edited the thesis of the title slide.
“Th-thank y-you T-T-Tendou-san”
“It’s no problem really. It is my job after all.” That was true. He was assigned to be with me and probably had no choice in the matter.
“So just to check again before the end of our session. Are you feeling confident about your presentation?”
“I mean I’m sure it could be better in some way or another but I think I’m ready?”
Now Tendou was NOT an oblivious guy by any stretch of the meaning and was terrifyingly observant.
“Hmm…ok if you say so” he said while squinting at me as if I was sitting across from him while playing among us and was the imposter. Everything about his facial expression screamed ‘this seems sus’
TENDOU’S POV
And with that we parted ways and went back to our dorm rooms respectively. What I had forgotten was we had dorms in the same directions and she had probably not realized that. So I just opted to tail her at a medium distance.
I noticed as soon as she thought I was gone she shifted from walking what people would consider normal and just started…trudging?
Wait
That could only mean one thing. I know that trudge as I did that too throughout my school years. That’s the gait of a person who is trying to look tired but is really just super unhappy.
But that doesn’t make any sense. I never see people harassing or bullying her around the halls or anything. But then again I know nothing about her peers in her classes. At least there’s still daylight and I know her English teacher is still here.
I quickly sprinted back to the classrooms trying to remember which room was T/N’s room.
Turns out I caught her just in time as she was just packing up her equipment.
“Ah good evening Tendou. Can I help you with something?”
“Actually yes! You see the girl I tutor is in your class right before lunch and I know she has a presentation tomorrow. So what I was wondering is if I could come in and watch her present because I know how hard it is for her.”
“Um sure? Which student are you tutoring?”
“Oh. Y/N L/N.”
“Ok fine. I have her presenting 7th overall”
“Sounds great! Thank you so much!”
“You’re very welcome”
As she was saying that I took off towards my dorm and plotted my before-school-interception mission
NEXT DAY BEFORE SCHOOL.
YOUR POV
I was going down the stairs of my dorm when I kind of just…stopped and had a wave of fear overcome me knowing my presentation was in just a few hours.
All I could think about at that point was how everyone was going to laugh at me just like last time and how I’ll fail because it got too overwhelming and I had to go not be bullied and ridiculed again.
But I kept telling myself that I practiced for this and I wasn’t going to let Tendou-san’s help go to waste because of my cowardice.
And looking at the time I realized I would have to run to get there with enough time to serve as a buffer in case something happened.
I got to the hallway where my first class was and sat down to finish up/correct any problems on my math homework since that would be easy.
So just as I finished checking over the first problem I see a pair of feet stop in front of me
“Ohayo Y/N-chan! How are you?” Tendou said as he was bending down so his eyes could meet mine
“O-Ohayo T-Tendou-san. I’m fine just reviewing some math work.”
“Sounds pretty responsible of you. I don’t know many people who just check it over more like doing it for the first time”.
“I just like to make sure I keep my grades up where I can.”
“That’s still very smart” he said as he poked my side
“Eek!”
“Oh my~is my Y/N-chan ticklish?”
Uh oh. Keep cool. Make it seem like you’re NOT flustered.
“U-uh no”
“Really? Cause that sounded like a laugh to me~”
Fuck. Busted big time
“N-no it wasn’t” I was sure this would convince him
But it didn’t
“Well then I’m sure this should be fine then!” As he proceeded to run his fingers up and down my sides
But of course a façade can only stay up for so long
“It’s fine j-just sensitive”
“While we’re at it why don’t you tell me why you seem so mopey recently”
“I-ihihihim nohohohot mohohohopehehey” fuck. Well I knew it was a matter of time
“Really cause last night you seemed kinda down” he said as he switched from just running his fingers up and down my sides to full on tickling me
“Nohohohohohohohohohohohohohoho stahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahap”
“Well well lookie at what we have here~ are you sure you’re not ticklish my little kouhai?”
“Ihihihihihihihihihi hahahahahahahahahave tohohoho keheheheheheheheeheheep workihihihihihing”  I kept trying to squirm free from his grasp and try to stop laughing and regain composure
He decided this wasn’t enough to get me to crack and let something slip so he decided to slide his fingers down a few inches to my hips and went WILD with the scribbling and squeezing
“nohoHOHOHO STAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAP PLEAHEHEHEHEHHESE”
“Oh dear it looks like my precious little kouhai can’t handle her tickles to her wittwe hips huh? Are you finally going to tell me why you’re mopey? Or shall I continue?”
“Youhuhuuhuhu cahahahahnt I hahahahahahahahahahave clahahahahahahass”
With that statement he looked up at the wall clock in front of us “oh we have plenty of time~ feel free to keep giggling though it’s like music to my ears. Or you can tell me why you’re sad and gloomy”
“FIHIHIHIHIHIHINE YOHOHOHOHOU WIHIHIHIN I’LL TELL I'LL TELL”
“Well a deal is a deal” and with that he stopped his incursion of tickles but still held on to my midsection for support in case something happened
“S-so l-last night I-I-I started to doubt my work and I had to think about my group mates and their portions of the presentation and if I-I d-don’t th-the b-b-b-bullying wi-will st-start a-again I” and I couldn’t finish as I choked up and started crying
“It’s ok it makes sense to be nervous and second guess yourself but what’s important to remember is bedtime anxiety decides nothing is good enough and makes everything seem like garbage. As for the other point you brought up about your group; fuck em. They did nothing and therefore deserve the F that is inevitably coming for them. I’m excited to see your hard work payoff and I don’t think they should get any credit.”
“B-b-but what will they think of me!?”
“Who cares because you’re my friend and I’ll be here for you. Just like you’ve been there for me when I was sad. Now the only edit you have to make is take their names off the powerpoint and you’ll be done!” As he said that he slipped my laptop out of my bag and proceeded to do just that. He even was kind enough to put a footnote saying: ‘L/N Y/N’s tutor Tendou Satori has removed the names of the people who contributed nothing to this project (・ω<)’
“Now let’s get your little face cleaned up and get you to math.”
TIMESKIP TO THE PRESENTATION
“Alrighty can L/N’s group please come up?”
And she was interrupted by Tendou slamming the door open and looking at me with something I could only explain as an excited gleam in his eyes and ran to the back of the room.
He sat at the back of the room attentively looking at me and giving a double thumbs up as well as a smile
My group mates came up with me and just as they were exiting their seats the teacher said rather suddenly “oh you three do not need to go up as L/N-san has been separated due to lack of effort on your part. Whenever you’re ready, L/N.”
And with that I started. And I winged my speech just like the day before.
Something about Tendou being there helped. Like it was just the 2 of us in that study room again and no cares in the world.
“…and with that I am happy to leave all of you with the conclusion that contemporary music is the best at enhancing the efficacy in persuading people in advertising.”
There was a dead silence for a second before the room went CRAZY. I heard loud and clear above the crowd Tendou screaming “ENCORE ENCORE! THAT WAS AMAZING”
I wanted to burst into tears from the joy 🥹
TIMESKIP TO LUNCH
“Well well well look at my perfect little kouhai who aced her presentation~” Tendou had said this as he came up to me when I was sitting alone at lunch
“H-how do you already know?!?”
“I have my ways” honestly I wasn’t even gonna question it knowing he was like a wizard basically
“Now why don't I introduce you to my friends from volleyball. I think they would really like you!”
And just like that my love story with him begun.
And that’s how this chapter of my life ended.

While you had your inner circle of friends, no one could deny that Tendou was your best one.
The two of you had become fast friends during your first year. The redhead was happy to have finally made a true friend, and you were happy to have a support system in your new school.
Overtime, you had collected some more friends amongst the two of you. They were all fantastic close friends, but nothing broke the bond between you and Satori.
That’s why he was the first to notice your sudden standoffishness towards all of your friends.
When he asked you why you hadn’t been very chatty with them, you only replied that you’ll “talk to them, when they talk to me”
You shrugged it off, putting up a front in front of Tendou. Behind closed doors though… you were a mess. Your mind was constantly running a million miles a minute.
You thought of any and every way to get your friends to talk to you. You wondered what had happened, and what you could do to change and fix it.
After a week of these nights, the middle blocker noticed how drained you looked. He noticed that you were much more sensitive to light and sound, deducing that you had been crying.
His suspicions were solidified when the two of you were standing at your lockers. You noticed one of your closest friends walking in, so you cheerily said hello to them.
Their reply was nothing more than a forced , awkward, grin. They wordlessly got their books and left while giving you some sort of stank eye.
Tendou’s eyes widened at the interaction, mouth agape. “(Y/N)-“
“Hm. That was strange. They must be having an off day.” You said with a fake cheerfulness, “Maybe I’ll see if they want to go out later to help them feel better.”
Before he could ask how you felt, you were gone. Instead of going to class, you retreated to the place you knew would be empty at this time: the club room.
As the door shut behind you, you instantly sank down the back wall and onto the floor. Your eyes flooded with tears as the tie around your neck seemed to choke you.
You tried so desperately to collect yourself and force breaths, but nothing worked. Your mind abandoned you as you thought only about how much your friends hated you.
Your chest hurt, your eyes hurt, everything was so tiring. You just couldn’t stop the weeks worth of shear panic that erupted from you.
As if on cue, your saving grace opened the door hastily. Tendou immediately dove into his knees and knelt at your side. “What can I do?” He asked quickly and breathlessly.
“C-can’t breathe. Ti-tie.” You sputtered as you hiccuped and clawed at your collar.
The redhead’s gentle fingers worked their way around the tie and took it off of your neck. He unbuttoned the first two buttons of your uniform shirt and watched you. “What else?”
“Take” you whimpered as you meekly held your hand out to him.
Satori took your hand in both of his, rubbing his thumb on the base of your own. “I’ve got you. Whatever is in your head right now, try to get rid of it.” He whispered, “You’re safe and loved. I’ll always be by your side.”
When the panic subsided, it was replaced by tears of confusion, of hate, of frustration, of sadness. They fell quickly and pattered on the ground in front of you. Tendou gently held you in his arms.
“I just don’t get it. I went all over the place for them. I would do anything for them, and they can’t even be bothered to acknowledge my existence. What did I do? Why do they hate me? I’m so tired of this.” You sobbed.
“They are the issue here, not you.” Satori explained, “You’ve done what you can to try and find out what’s going on with them. You weren’t pushy, you weren’t annoying, I mean hell that was the first time I think I saw you talk to one of them in a while.”
“It’s their fault that they’re being immature. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you. You’re a fantastic friend. If you weren’t, there’s no way in hell I’d be here right now.”
“Please try and realize that you are just fine on your own. Sure, company is good to have, but not if it’s fake company. If it’s any consolation, I’ll always be here for you. So if one is better than more, I’ll happily be the one you rely on.“ the middle blocker said, chastely kissing your forehead.
You sighed and cuddled up to him with a smile. He was right after all. If you couldn’t rely on anyone, you knew at the very least the Tendou would be there.

As one of Koushi’s childhood friends, you were quite familiar with the world of volleyball.
You were always excited to go to watch his games, practices and even just hang out with his teammates. You always felt like the club was so cool, only causing your best friend to laugh and explain how lame they are.
You were thrilled to make friends with the club, and even more happy to share in your best friend’s hobbies.
Unfortunately, those hobbies do tend to be busy. Which is why when your friends suddenly went quiet, you didn’t tell Suga about it.
You figured that with his training camp in Tokyo coming up, that he had nothing more he should be worrying about. So, you let it eat you up inside.
You had hoped that it was just a fluke. Maybe your friends were just having a bad day, and didn’t want to talk to anyone. That wasn’t the case, however, when you noticed that even after a week they hadn’t said a word to you.
What truly hurt you was the day you and Suga were at your lockers and preparing to leave for practice. Your friend noticed you come by, but they only stared at you wordlessly while they left the hallway.
Koushi furrowed his eyebrows in discontent. “What was that all about?”
You chose to remain hopeful, “No clue. Maybe they just don’t want to talk to anyone today.”
“If you say so…” Suga replied, “Let me know if you need anything. See you in a few?”
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world!” You chirped as you continued to pack your bag.
When Koushi had left, your eyes immediately flooded with tears. You packed your school bag with shaky hands, wondering what you had done wrong.
After ten minutes of slow and agonizing packing, you trudged slowly to the club room. On your way in, you noticed your friend chatting excitedly with another person.
Your heart dropped as you rushed into the empty room. You sank down the wall and hung your head between your knees, hugging your chest. It wasn’t long before you couldn’t feel any air intaking. You choked and hiccuped as your mind abandoned you.
You tried so hard to get any air, but it just didn’t work. Your lungs were on fire and you couldn’t feel anything but pain. You heard nothing but the sounds of your own labored breathing and heavy sobs. Despite this, you immediately noticed the club room door opening casually.
“I’m just gonna grab my water bottle, Daichi! I’ll be right b-“
Your eyes widened as they met with your best friends’.
“Oh god, (Y/N)? Can you hear me? Why didn’t you come get me?” Koushi asked as his features were sympathetic and terrified. “I’m right here. Nothing will harm you.”
You couldn’t do anything but shake your head at him. You wanted to tell him to leave, to tell him you could handle this. You wanted to tell him that he needed to focus on nationals and-“
As if he heard your thoughts, Suga impatiently replied “(Y/N) I barely play and you know that. Don’t you dare tell me I don’t have time for this.”
The silver-haired setter took you in an embrace and rubbed up and down your arms. “It’s okay, I’ve got you.” His voice softened as well as his eyes relaxing.
After a few minutes, your panic seemed to subside. You were still crying harshly, cursing the world. “God I feel like such an idiot. I should’ve known better.”
“What do you mean? I need you to tell me what you can…” Suga asked quietly.
“They’ve been like this for weeks, Koushi. M-my friends they just don’t like me anymore. I must’ve… I must’ve done something to annoy them or something, god I’m such a-“
“Please don’t finish that sentence, that’s my best friend you’re talking about.” The setter said in seriousness, “You are not annoying for having human emotions. You haven’t done anything to annoy any of us, I don’t understand why they’re being so standoffish either.”
“You’re not the one to blame here. Your friends are being immature and absolutely ridiculous , this is so childish and I wish that they would see that and acknowledge their wrongdoing. You are a fantastic friend and you have nothing wrong with you, do you hear me?”
“You’ve been here for me more times than I can count. You’re not a bad person, nor a bad friend. If anything, those guys are the bad ones. They’re being immature and you need to take yourself away from them. If they come back, then they’re truly good friends. If not, you know they aren’t right. Please don’t think so poorly of yourself because of bad people.”
You nodded, understanding his message. At that moment, all you wanted to do was be loved on by someone who actually cared about you. So, you took your time to cuddle up to Suga, and hug him back as he rocked you in his arms.

As the manager of the Karasuno team, you kept to yourself mostly.
Your job was to focus on your boys, helping them get to victory as many times as they could.
So when things began going awry for you’d you truly had no one to turn to. Your carried your burdens like baggage, wondering what went wrong.
At the very least, you figured you could distract yourself with work for the team. You found anything and everything to do, desperately trying to distract yourself.
Whether it was refilling water, retrieving lost volleyballs, cleaning towels, writing down anything you observed, you tried everything.
Nothing seemed to work. Your mind still ran as you wondered why your friends had suddenly gone radio silent.
When you were late to practice one day, you passed by one of your oldest friends, you waved to them with a cheerful smile. They simply glared at you and kept talking to the person they were with.
Your heart dropped as you realized that you had been correct about your assumptions. Your friends weren’t talking to you on purpose…
As your eyes filled with tears you raced over to the gym. The boys were already running drills, so you retreated to a supply closet without being noticed. Or so you thought…
You hastily slammed the door behind you as you fell to the floor. Your damn lungs wouldn’t take in any air and you were suffocating. Your gasps and hiccups were as loud as your sobs.
The closet door opened gently, then almost slammed into the wall. Shortly after, you were being pulled into someone’s arms. You immediately curled into the embrace and tried desperately to calm yourself, not wanting to to be a bother to the person.
“I’ve got you kiddo. I’ve got you.” A deep voice filled your ears as a hand slowly rubbed behind your shoulder blades. “You’re safe here, I’ve got you. I won’t let you go.”
At that moment, your blocked lungs seemed to open as you hastily gasped in deep breaths. They hurt, but they were nonetheless relieving. There you sat, panting on the floor, for a few more minutes. When you had finally calmed a little, you spoke up.
“I’m so sorry that I took you away from practice, coach. I know how close we are to Nationals and-“
“(Y/N). Your health and well-being is so much more important to me. The boys are fine. They’ve got Daichi, Sugawara, Ennoshita, and even Good Ol’ Specs to give them any tips they may need. I don’t have to be out there every second of practice, and quite frankly I couldn’t bear to ignore you when you’re having a panic attack.”
You sighed and sunk down into his embrace, “I’m really sorry. I just feel like everyone hates me for some reason…” you mumbled, turning away from his gaze. “All of my friends are just… gone. No one talks to me anymore and I hate it. I don’t know what I did to them, or what I did to myself to make them hate me.”
“Let me tell you a little secret, Kiddo.” Keishin said softly, brushing a stray hair out of your face. “You don’t have to change a thing just because someone is upset with you. It doesn’t mean that you’re the problem. They could very well be going through some personal issues.” He explained.
“You’re not at fault here, (Y/N). You’ve done absolutely nothing to make them not like you. If they’re being immature, fine. I know it’s not easy at this age, but I urge you to move forward. Friends come and go, and it seems that these ones aren’t truly your friends.”
“If they don’t explain to you what’s been happening with them, please do not stay in a place that makes you panic like this. Plus, if you need any help making new friends, I know a group of 12 pretty cool people.” He finished his speech with a ruffle to your hair.
You chuckled softly and returned his hug. “Thank you, Coach.”
“There’s that smile.” Ukai said with a grin of his own. “You’re very welcome. If you need anything else, don’t be a stranger. If you need a little time to recollect yourself before practice, feel free to go to the club room and do what you need.”
Your friends may not have been there when you needed them, but you knew in your heart that you’d always have your boys and your coaches.

you must really love me.
tendou satori x reader // fluff? comfort? idk what the hell this is // 468 wrds
warnings: tw for implied suicidal ideation but like that’s it? I think
a/n: ntm on me y’all, this is a mess and I’m well aware. It’s not proofread because I’m too embarrassed to reread it. Hope it makes sense tho 🫶🏾
Tumblr media
“It’s open.” comes the faint sound of your voice from under your duvet in response to the soft knock at your door. You already know who it is.
Satori enters your room, closing the door behind him. He scans your covered form briefly and sits next to your bed. “Hey,” he whispers gently. “Do you wanna talk about it?”
“I don’t know,” you do, but not yet. You’re just glad that he’s here now.
You hate when you get like this –when the mere thought of the world outside your room makes you want to shrink inside yourself; when the true weight of your existence sits on your chest so heavily, suffocating seems easier than taking another breath.
The world keeps moving, and lately you’ve been seriously wondering if there'll ever come a day where you’ll finally be able to keep up.
You’ve had bad days, and even worse ones, but whenever you swerved, you’d eventually come back center. You almost truly believed that it couldn’t get bad for you in that way again. Because you’re older, wiser, stronger than you were back then. You understand yourself more than you did, you can recognize your own warning signs, you’ve been medicated for a while, you’ve accomplished so much since then, you have a job, you have actual goals and little things to look forward to now–
“Can you just,” you reach only your hand out from under the covers, “can you just stay with me like this please?”
You say it in a tone so hushed it breaks his heart a bit. He’s seen you sad, depressed even, but somehow it feels different this time.
You sound so fragile, so vulnerable, he initially doesn’t know what to make of it; unsure of what to do for you. But he knows where he can start, so he gives you his right hand to hold.
You scoot closer to the edge of the bed, eventually bringing your other hand out to hold his hand between both of yours. Your grip on his hand is loose and light; the sensation and weight of his hand being soothing enough in the moment.
He’s your rock, your anchor. When you have days like this, weeks like this, sometimes it feels like he’s the only thing keeping you from floating away into the abysmal. Lord knows you’re eternally grateful. Grateful for how patient he is, for how delicate he’s handling you at your self perceived worst. You feel utterly disgusting, having laid in your bed for what feels like days, only getting up to eat or use the bathroom. Though you hide from him under your comforter, you don’t feel any judgment coming from him at all.
The realization forms a knot in your throat. You sniffle and tighten your grip on his hand.

Stop the sweetness
Pairing: Timeskip! Tendou Satori x fem chubby Reader
Genre: angsty to fluff, hurt/comfort
Warnings & content: grammar - talk about apparence and body issues - eating not so eating disorder?????- My attempt at French with translator and my semester of basic things - mentions of food, hunger and fasting - supportive Tendou (I need him in my life ngl) - established relationship and tons of pet names
Tumblr media
"You have to stop buying bakery treats"
"No I don't and first of all I make them, I buy the 10% of the stuff I bring to you ma chérie d'amour "
"Satori just.... No. I don't need to try out every single thing you do I.... I know they'll be good"
Hearing that "No" was breaking his heart
A couple of weeks ago you were his first tester on more fulfilling and complex pastries to reach his goal of expanding the shop. His mind was full of ideas like croissants filled with chocolate, Japanese inspired cherry pudding, layered pastries with crème pâtissière in between etc.
You were so eager to help him and, if he was honest, it satisfied his ego and need to please you. You were the light of his life and he would do anything to make you happy
You had always loved to try new cuisine and you were always adorably thankful for the food, even more if it came from his hands.
Then he remembered how gloomy you had been the past days, noticing that you started to skip either breakfast or dinner. Drinking lots and lots of water between meals, reducing your portions and he even catched you looking your reflection at the bathroom mirror
You had stopped him from grabbing your love handles and your tummy (something that brought frown to his face).
You had given him so much support and praise when he had been insecure in the beginnings of your relationship. You unashamedly held his hand when you went out, you kissed his lips without a care and whenever he made a successful block your cheers would be listened from other gyms.
It was his time to return the favour
"Well well my pretty flower if I didn't know you since high school then you would had probably fool me"
The tease of his words wasn't really reaching his worried eyes, but he knew how much you liked his playful tone
"Satori...."
"Don't 'Satori' me lady, something is up your pretty mind that's not letting you enjoy life and my goal is to bring you happiness soooo"
His tone now turned into a soft one
"What's wrong?"
You sighed and sat down, trying to drown into the plushy sofa
"'Tori you know what I mean? I look hideo-"
"Stop. Right. There. Don't you dare finish that sentence"
He jumped on you like he tended to do when he had a rough day, circling his long arms around you and buring his head on your chest
"You are the most beautiful, spectacular, considerate human being I've ever met"
He looked up to you with a tint of sadness into his scarlet eyes
"I love everything about you, everything. This" he said while sneaking his hands to your belly "is one of my pride and joy, it means I feed you well, it means you're ok"
You winced under his gaze. It's not like he didn't drowned you with compliments, quite the opposite. But the last days your mind was the one determining your feelings and those were not good ones
"Satori..... But I don't feel alright, some of my clothes feel stuffy and I swear my stomach looks bigger"
He let out a soft breath and gave you a little smile
"And it's ok sweetheart, but you can tell me that. You don't need to starve yourself alone, there's no need to do that pretty"
You couldn't help but to shiver when his warm fingers started tracing your spine, waist and hips. Add to that the soft kiss on your sternum, right above your heart
"And you can desire to look different, it's ok, I sometimes want to gain some muscles too"
Good, he made you chuckle with that
"But, you're not sick, you're not in need of immediate changes in your routine, you're not being lazy or whatever.... I see you everyday, and I love you everyday. If you want to change my beautiful flower, do it when you're actually with a positive goal"
His breath was now onto your neck making you hold a breath
"I'll be there every step on the way, but you're not hideous, not now, not ever. You're absolutely gorgeous and I'll be here to remind you that every single day of our existence"
Slowly the touches and words cracked the wall that had been built and allowed you to breath the fresh air of acceptance and joy
"It's... Not easy 'Tori you know? Sometimes I feel like the hottest thing around this house"
"You are"
A soft shared chuckle
"But sometimes I don't feel like it.... Thank you for your words my love, I needed that"
A comfortable silence was set, soft kisses here and there and your hand onto his hair
"So.... If you're feeling better, and only if you want, would you try my batch of sweets tomorrow? It includes marshmallow in it, reminds me of you"
You just chuckled softly and let your body relax
"I will"

Title: I see you (part 2)
Ship: Claudine x Maya (Revue Starlight)
Summary: It only takes an accident for Maya to finally see Claudine...
Words: 2k
Sneak peek:
“Maya defends herself as an angry spark ignites in her eyes, launching at Futaba who can barely block her strong attack.
Both girls keep a dance of attacks and blocks for some time, before the voice of a certain stage girl interrupts them.
- Futaba!
The pink haired girl hears her name being called by her ash-blonde friend, seeing a flash of pain crossing Maya’s features, before using said distraction to attack her with such a bad luck that Maya, in her efforts to dodge her and avoid getting her button pulled out, slips and falls from the top of the stairs.
- Tendo!”

COLOURS
Tendou Satori x Reader
Hurt/comfort
Something was amiss. The light hearted banter that the two of you usually exchanged was replaced by a silence that stretched on and on. You merely walked on, oblivious to the scrutiny subjected by Tendō. He had been gauging your expressions all the while to get a read on you but it seemed useless so far.
He abruptly caught your shoulders, giving up his guessing game. "Woah Y/N. I'm going to stop you right there. What are you doing?"
You blinked like one who has just woken up. "What do you mean?"
"Tut, tut, tut," he shook his head. "You have to spill whatever is bothering you. I can't let you walk around like this, all dazed and preoccupied! You're going to suffocate if you continue like this!"
Concern was evident in his eyes and you sighed weakly. "I'm sorry Satori. I just didn't want to bug you with the fleet of unnecessary thoughts that I harbour."
You received a kiss to your nose in return that made your cheeks warm and your heart warmer.
"You could never bug me. And besides, I do that all the time so it's only fair that you do it too."
You smiled at this, moving your hands to fumble with his tie.
"You know Satori, nobody likes me for who I am. People have always judged me and called me names, that usually varies according to their whims. I thought I didn't care about it but it seems that I was wrong. Somewhere along the way, I began moulding myself to suit the tastes of those around me and became the Y/N L/N that was utterly different from the real one."
You paused, looking at him rather shyly, "But then, you came along and swept me off my feet and I knew that I didn't want to pretend... at least, when I was with you. And now, I'm just... I'm terrified."
The latter part was a whisper, heavily laced with the weight of a sob.
Slender fingers gently lighted on your face and lifted it so that your downcast eyes met a pair of orbs filled to the brim with commingled sadness and affection.
"Are you scared that I'll part ways with you if I see how you really are? But Y/N, I'd already seen and fallen for the real you long before I had the courage to confess. I had seen you in the quiet of the library helping Wakatoshi study, I had seen you in the cafeteria glowing with every bite you took of your favourite food, and I saw you when you helped me pick myself up after I crumbled. And I love you because you're you. Truth is, you are the one who has accepted me for who I am, despite my flaws and eccentricities and I am beyond grateful to have you in my life."
Your lips quivered with a smile and he went to wrap his arms around you and hold you close, happy to see the light in your face return just a little.
With a flutter of kisses to your forehead, he firmly added, "You don't have to be anything else other than yourself Y/N. You're wonderful and amazing and absolutely brilliant. And I'll fight anyone who says otherwise."
You nodded in his chest, feeling warm and at home, as you slowly recognised the truth in his words. Abandoning yourself for the opinions of the flimsy masses only meant losing who you are and becoming a mindless head of that very throng. You were an individual, unique and different, and you would embrace your colours to stand against the collective grey, alongside a bright and colourful Tendō.

Note
I am so glad that I came across your blog. Mind if I request some fluffy headcanons of Satori Tendou with an insecure s/o (gn reader)? Let's say the reader simply tends to doubt themselves, their attractiveness etc nothing to heavy yk?
How r u doin btw? Have u been drinking enough water?
I don't mind at all!! I absolutely adore Tendou with all my heart, thank you for requesting this! Sorry that it took me so long to do this! Also, I've been doing great! Thanks for asking! I've been drinking a lot of water and tea actually, water is probably my favorite thing to drink in all honesty lol, I hope you're doing alright too! Welp, Satori Tendou fluff headcanons LET'S GOOO
First off he would know the MOMENT you start to doubt yourself, he's incredibly perceptive so things like this don't fly over his head at all.
He'd definitely try his best to take your mind off of it, but if you needed a bit of a break he wouldn't be opposed to helping you relax, quite the opposite in fact.
Cuddles? Cuddles.
He won't be afraid to shower you with compliments the ENTIRE DAY. Think he can't? He'll prove you wrong.
Would definitely spoil you for sure, the day would be dedicated to self-love.
Will watch any show or movie with you to make you feel better, but be careful cause he'll keep whispering little compliments the entire time. The cheeky basta--
All in all, he's always willing to cheer up his S/O about how they feel about themself, after all, he wants you to see yourself how he sees you.
Sorry if this was short! I've been having a lack of motivation lately, but I hope you enjoy it! Take care of yourself, Anon! ^^
