daichi didn’t know how to approach them, 

kiyoko was honestly very worried (yet still unaware),

asahi was just lost,

so suga was the only person that had any real answers.

even then, they were very few. 

so when you go into an episode of depersonalization/derealization around him, he freaks out

straight up texts sugawara to help him.

‘what should i do?’

‘how should i do this?’

‘would this be a good idea?’

trust sugawara to have the answers at a base level, though.

suga just tells him to comfort you in the way tanaka does best, be careful, and let him know if something goes wrong.

so that’s just what he does.

he sees the terror settle on your visage, the way the color drains from your face

the way that your body just...

loses all sense of ‘control’.

you don’t seem yourself, and as such, you don’t feel like yourself.

tanaka, while viewing this, is quick on the uptake.

he tugs your body to his before you can curl into a ball on the couch

hugs you securely in his strong arms, lays your head on his chest and tries to rub your back as a form of comfort.

while doing this, he’s trying to regulate his heartbeat and tears

(his sweet girlfriend’s struggling, and he doesn’t know how to fix it. what else could he do?) 

like i said, if you aren’t crying, he is.

and that likely leads to your emotions coming over you and you end up crying.

he just hugs you in a fashion that would make you feel safe, warm, and protected. 

he is also uncharacteristically silent, though you both don’t mind it.

just in general, the awkwardness, the fear, and the emotions run HIGH 

so expect this to be something that might be a little tough to adjust to on both your parts

but, afterwards, he does cuddle with you close to his side until you feel comfortable.

in general?

the boy loves you a lot, so he’ll help the best way he can, but the comfort process is gonna be a little bit of a rough ride. 

and, under the circumstance that this was his first encounter, he did pretty decent.

(sidenote: he had told suga what had conspired the next day when he was at volleyball practice. he got a pat on the back for his good work and a small reward, though he was hesitant to take it.) 

simp is big worry for you overall, but he’ll take extra measures to help you in the future.

i feel as if he’d have dealt with some bouts of it

so he had a sense of the feeling and the pure terror that comes with it.

because, compared to his calm and composed demeanor, boy panics like the next person.

and sometimes, things like this happen when stress is running ESPECIALLY high

and once you had told him about your experiences with it, 

he was immediately taking notes from his experiences to help you with yours

so, in conclusion?

he had a good amount of knowledge in the subject

when you start to go into a bout of it, he is on the job

he keeps the atmosphere as quiet as possible

(especially if bokuto or kuroo is in the room) 

he makes sure that there is a private, somewhat comfortable area that you can go to whenever and wherever it happens

and you can bet that this boy starts to worry despite the knowledge.

anyways...

once he notices you start to shrivel up and push yourself towards the corner of the room

and how the fear settles in your eyes

he’s on the way (while still being smooth and nonchalant).

there are tears gathering in the corners of your eyes, and as soon as akaashi sees them, well- 

he’s already gesturing for you two to leave the room and keeping you flush to his side comfortably.

it isn’t until you reach the designated private area (which in this scenario would probs be a secluded classroom) that he checks in further.

he stares worriedly in your eyes, and you try to explain

he stops you, wipes your tears, and pulls you flush against his chest. 

no words are spoken, just a sweet silence and a loving embrace.

it’s welcoming, and he doesn’t care if you soak the front of his shirt with tears

overall, best boy of the four (with suga being a close second).

in general, though

the way he acts and treats this thing signals an immediate understanding of the feeling

and it is just, overall, the most comforting thing about it.

he takes note of what works this time following the first encounter with something like this, though

anything to make sure his beloved girlfriend feels safe and protected.

(bokuto though - akaashi loves him, but dear god, he pries too much whenever this happens around him. kuroo joins in too, and he has to put his trust into someone else to handle him (or the two of them) in that moment.)

so, first things first - you have told him of your brushes with depersonalization/derealization and overall dissociation

you had also emphasized how scary it can be

this, while still a little odd to him, is something he takes seriously because you take it seriously.

(it took a little explaining to get him to realize when something like this starts to happen.)

anyways, one day, when you two are studying together

(by your request!) 

he pauses when he hears your voice start to shake and your words don’t come off as sure as they were mere seconds before.

“what’s going on, y/n?”

“uh, I - um...”

THAT’s when he jumps into protective boyfriend mode. 

the way you so suddenly weaken, seemingly just lose all sense of the normal you

it scares him, quite frankly

and he just-

throws all of his work to the side and slides you to his side.

pressing your head onto his shoulder is the first step.

he wants to talk, but the way he feels you tremble 

oh boy, he gets emotional

he won’t cry, but he’ll be about to

he just decidedly grips you tighter and closer to him when you tug on his shirtsleeve

he’s pulling you even closer then, and just slowly lulls your body in his to his bed

and the two of you just lay there, you crying from the fear and him keeping you warm, safe, and comfortable

you two had just decided to stay there for the rest of the time together until your roommate had come by to get you 

(she had thanked him for comforting you as she had seen this happen, and you had never been this calm coming down from a bout until today.)

essentially, he doesn’t joke like he normally would

he doesn’t get rough or generally playful, either

he just gets aware and gets to action.

safe to say, he does a pretty damn good job when it comes down to it. 

(and as a sidenote- if anyone pokes their head in on you two in the moment, he’ll send them a look that signals them to leave.)

(seriously. it terrifies some of the younger club members if they even attempt to come find him in this situation.)

Farmer Ushijima/Mangaka Tendou AU hcs

Okay, so mangaka Tendou is out there, living his life in the big city, when he decides to head out of town, either because he needs a break from all that he's doing or because he wants to search for some more inspiration elsewhere. Whatever. Both can work. The point is that he's going out to the countryside because there's where the premium beef is.

Anyways! Tendou's out driving in the countryside, watching the scenery go by and living his Studio Ghibli dream, when he drives past a farm and spots a shirtless Ushi working in the fields and Tendou.exe no longer functions. Tendou then accidentally crashes his car into Ushi's fence and he's now 100% ready for the ground to swallow him whole.

Ushi comes over and to check if he's okay and Tendou's fine and all. He wasn't going too fast and it wasn't like he hit a tree or another car or anything, so he's all good. But Ushi is still concerned because Tendou just fucking crashed into his fence!! Tendou freaks out for a moment before being like, "Wait. I crashed into your fence. Shit! I can pay for it!" But Ushi is like, "It's fine. I'm more concerned about you. Besides, I can fix it myself anyway." But Tendou still feels bad about what he did, so he tries to figure out someway to make it up to Ushi and that's when Ushi is like, "Well, you just crashed, so I'm assuming you'll have to stick around a bit whether you like it or not, so if you have the time, help me out here for a bit and I'll consider your debt paid, if you're that worried about it." So lucky for the both of them, Tendou has no plans because he just ran away and was hoping he would run into Totoro while wandering the woods, so he accepts the offer.

Tendou tries to make plans to stay at a nearby inn or something, so he's asking Ushi what time he should show up at the farm, but Ushi is like, "Actually, I figured it would be easier if you just stayed here with me, if you don't mind. That way you don't have to pay for a place and also try to find transportation here. Also, I get up really early, so now you won't have to be up even earlier than I am to head over here." Internally, Tendou is like, "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu," but he says yes because there's no denying that logic and that's how Tendou ends up staying with Ushi while he waits for his car to get fixed.

Tendou's freaking the fuck out because damn, this dude is HOT and Tendou is WEAK! It doesn't help that Ushi doesn't say more than necessary while Tendou rambles, so he's not sure if he's bothering Ushi or not and he feels like even if he was, Ushi might not say anything (But that's a lie. We know Ushi would. Not because he's mean or anything, but he's just very blunt. He's doing his best and I love him. Anyway, Tendou doesn't know that Ushi doesn't think he's annoying yet.)

Anyways, Ushi is really nice and courteous to Tendou and helps him bring his things to the spare bedroom and helps him call for a tow truck and a mechanic to check on his car and he listens to everything that Tendou rambles about too. Eventually, they get onto the topic of why Tendou is here, so he explains he's a mangaka and that he's out here taking a break and searching for inspiration. Ushi is interested and mentions that he never had much interest in manga or anime, and suddenly, Tendou's nervous rambling turns into excited rambling because he has so much that he wants to share and show Ushi now and Ushi listens to everything that he has to say. It eventually gets late and they have to go to bed since they have to be up early, but once they part, that's when Tendou starts freaking out about how much he talked again and if he was annoying Ushi, but in the room next door, Ushi is also freaking out about how nice it was to listen to Tendou talk about what he was passionate about.

The next morning, Tendou thinks he woke up late because he catches Ushi about to head out, but really, Ushi just planned on letting Tendou sleep. But since he's already up and he insisted on helping out somehow, Ushi let's him coming along as he makes his round on the farm. Tendou offers to help out whenever he can, even though he doesn't really know what he's doing, but Ushi turns him down, telling him that his company is more than enough since Ushi just lives here alone with the animals. Tendou feels bad again and starts to ramble again, which Ushi honestly loves because really, the only other interaction he gets on the farm is when he talks to the animals. They eventually finish up and it's still pretty early, so Tendou's thinking they'll head back, maybe get some more sleep, maybe get started on breakfast, but instead, Ushi takes him to this hill that overlooks the whole farm and all that. Tendou is confused and that's when Ushi is like, "You said last night that you came here looking for inspiration and to take a break. I like to come up here and watch everything with the sun rising whenever I want to truly have a moment alone, so maybe this will help you." And Tendou is so emotional because he didn't think Ushi was actually listening to what he was saying and was just being polite, but damn, he really was. So they both just sit there and watch the sun rise with the animals running around and grazing beneath them, and for once, Tendou doesn't feel the need to ramble and talk.

They eventually head back to the house because food and Tendou knows he isn't a great cook, but he does his best to help out and this time, Ushi lets him help out, so the two of them are cooking together or Tendou is trying and Ushi helps him fix things. They go about the rest of their day with Ushi teaching and showing Tendou everything about the farm. They then move on to all the plants and flowers and trees that Ushi has growing everywhere and now, Tendou sees why Ushi didn't mind all of his manga talk yesterday because Ushi practically lights up (Well, as much as Ushi can. lol!) when it comes to his plants and he's even more excited when he starts talking about his bees (His babees!) and man, it's only been a day, but Tendou's falling and he's finding out that coming here and crashing is slowly becoming the best thing that could've ever happened to him.

The grow closer and closer over their days together. Tendou learns that Ushi was originally meant to take over his family's fancy business, but he somehow inherited the farm from a distant family member that he used to love visiting when he was younger, but stopped doing so when his parents divorced. Instead of joining the business, Ushi decided to take care of the farm instead, but that led to his family basically disowning him, so he's been alone every since. Tendou confides in Ushi and tells him that he was bullied a lot and hoped drawing would help him make friends. It didn't, but he grew to love it and found himself becoming a mangaka, but even then, it's largely a solitary job, so he's just as alone as Ushi is.

At this point, Tendou is certain he's in love with Ushi and he's gotten to know Ushi well enough that he thinks he may love him too. But Tendou is very self-conscious and doubts it all because he'd gotten bullied so much in his life, so even though he's close to certain that Ushi feels the same way, he doesn't say anything about it and hopes that Ushi will talk first.

But then, Tendou's car gets fixed and they both know he has to leave now because this was never meant to be permanent, but they both sure hoped it would be. They part awkwardly, with Ushi being silent because that's just how he is and Tendou rambling because that's just how he is too, but eventually, Tendou gets ready to leave, but before going, Ushi simply tells him that he'll miss hearing his voice everyday and that's about as close to a confession as Tendou is gonna get. They don't say anything more than that, aside from promises to try to keep in contact and for Tendou to come back soon and Tendou joking that maybe Ushi could come and visit him instead.

But life as a mangaka is hard, so Tendou can't find the time to call and keep in contact with Ushi and Ushi knows Tendou's job can be a lot, so he doesn't want to push or be a bother. They both eventually think that the other wasn't interested in them and that it was a brief infatuation created by two lonely people who kept on trying to deny it, so they just leave their relationship at that.

However, the truth is that they never stopped thinking about the other and they really did love each other. Tendou is normally does shounen work, but when he came back from his time with Ushi, he suddenly finds himself writing about his farm romance with Ushi. Meanwhile, Ushi is busy with the farm, but he's also been reading up on all the manga that Tendou recommended and wrote, as well as trying to follow along on how Tendou's working is going as well.

Eventually, Tendou's new manga drops and Ushi gets it immediately and as he's reading through the first chapter that's when he realizes that they were two fools who had gotten too used to being lonely. Ushi decides to leave the farm for the first time in years and heads to the city to find Tendou. He calls and calls and calls Tendou repeatedly when he arrives, but Tendou doesn't answer and Ushi wonders if maybe he got it wrong and that Tendou just used him for inspiration without really caring, but Ushi is persistent, so even though he grows more anxious with every failed call, that all immediately leaves when he hears a familiar groggy voice saying hello.

Ushi spent the entire train ride to the city trying to come up with what exactly he was going to say and how he was going to explain things to Tendou and everything he wanted to ask about and know, but when he hears Tendou's voice again after all that time, the only thing that comes to Ushi's mind is, "I'm here."

Half-awake Tendou who just woke up from a power nap is confused about whoever was trying to call him and wouldn't leave a message, but when he hears Ushi's familiar voice, he understands, but is still in disbelief that all of this is happening.

"You're here?" "I'm here," Ushi repeats. "I thought I'd take your advice and come visit you instead, so now, I'm here."

That's all Ushi has to say before Tendou finds himself fully awake and racing out the door to try and find wherever the hell Ushi is waiting for him. He makes it to the station and it's cheesy af and Tendou knows he'll probably get complaints from his editor about it when he writes this, but fuck that! Because this is his story and he and Ushi will damn well get their cheesy and dramatic train station reunion where he leaps into Ushi's arms and they both cry and kiss each other and tell each other about how stupid they both were and how they really love each other and how Ushi really wants to be able to hear Tendou's voice everyday and how Tendou would love to ramble for him.

Tendou eventually decides to move in with Ushi on the farm since he can drive, so getting to the city isn't too bad, but also, technology makes his job way easier since he can just send things to his editor online. But truthfully, Ushi would've moved back to the city for Tendou if he asked as well because these two dorks figured out that their home isn't a place, but with each other.

so everyone knows tendou was bullied as a kid and everyone thought he was scary because of his unique and different visuals.... well i just saw this headcanon for him on tiktok that said he ate flowers as a child because he once heard that phrase “you are what you eat” and he just wanted to be pretty. so now i 1. cant stop sobbing and 2. have to take this headcanon one step further and talk about how now that he is a chocolatier he probably has lots of floral flavors of chocolates and probably garnishes lots of his candies with edible flowers and that he is always drawn to exotic plants and vegetation when dining and stuff because it was just a thought that he couldn’t let go of... like even though is more confident and happy in his own body he loved the thought of being pretty on the inside and he makes it such a big part of his cooking because he thinks other people deserve to feel that way too.
