Collector analysis again! but small.
So, i believe that Collector does not enjoy turning people into puppets. i saw this idea thrown around a bit, and i think i agree with it. He uses more as a "punishment" than anything, really. but a harmless one; one he finds will keep them safe and sound.
Like with Lilith and Hooty! Lilith called King her nephew, something that Collector was not fond of. so, while sending a moon toward her to puppetify her, Hooty jumps in and gets hit instead. so Collector goes back for a second shot to actually get Lilith like intended.
Tumblr media
I also was wondering if Hooty didn't do anything wrong, why didnt Collector fix it? Well, i figure theres two reasons for that. One: He needs puppets to play pretend with, and/or Two: Hooty helped Lilith when she had done something wrong(in his eyes).
He has an angry expression while doing this, yet a calm one when explaining how they're safe and not hurt. That Is His Form Of "Discipline". for now, at least.
or with Terra! whenever she insults King, that's whenever he turns her into a puppet. Angry expression, yet again, and his words: "you're not being very nice right now".
Tumblr media
And to add on to this being discipline, Terra says this:
Tumblr media
"Play along, and you won't get turned into a puppet. do your role correctly. " Also, when he holds up the moon, her reaction is anything BUT glee and cheerfulness. So, he knows it negatively affects people(this was also shown with Lilith's reaction to Hooty).
it also vaguely reminds me of whenever the Collector was in the mirror thingy. he was trapped and couldn't really do anything since he was a shadow. and these people, as puppets, are technically trapped and can't do anything. this one is a stretch, i think, but it makes some sense.
and onto how he speaks about Eda in this scene...
Tumblr media
He's speaking about replacing Terra for the "real thing" because who can play Eda better than Eda herself? He clearly has a liking to Eda. He kept Terra around longer out of anyone because she's playing the role of Eda. He tried his best to explain her role to her—multiple times. When he's describing Eda to both Terra and King, he's very passionate about it. Smiling and excited! But he can't play with her because he thinks that she's still the owl beast. I think the awe comes from how King spoke about her to explain "The Owl House Game." Because he clearly had to speak about her to explain the game, as he did with Luz. i wouldn't be surprised if thats how King originally described Eda to Collector, and they just ran with it. or maybe they made that connection themselves based on how King spoke about her! both are plausible.
However, this admiration would not stop him from disciplining her. He says this:
Tumblr media
He may have been talking about the Owl Beast in specific, but either way, he was meaning Eda.
Now, i can't say for certain why everyone else was turned into puppets(other than the other adults, because I'd say that was because they were attacking along with some of the students). But these were also his spies, not him himself. though that's what we saw.
And given that this kid would turn someone into a puppet for saying the wrong word, anything was possible! (i saw like two people say he did that because he saw "nephew" as a threat because of Belos and Hunter)
But he obviously doesn't like doing it, and typically only does it whenever he's angry or feels threatened. But hey! it seems to be better than what the other Collectors would do! as seen in the book, i feel like if they were to do something like this, it would end with a lot of actual harm and probably even murder. which does make me nervous for the next episode, but!! we'll see what it actually means, probably

There is something so particularly heartbreaking when watching this scene exchange unfold. Toxic or not, Terra is a parental figure to Raine in some way. So at this moment, we see utter defeat. Everyone knows something is wrong, but it’s too late. Terra knows she has doomed herself. Raine couldn’t stop Terra or anyone else from hurting themselves. Raine sadly shaking their head truly hurt. It was like a child crying when they couldn’t do something you shouldn’t expect a child to do. Raine not only knew they failed but had to see Terra’s failure too. The whole interaction felt like a child not being able to stop their parent from making a stupid decision, and now they both have to live with it. I find this all to be particularly tragic.

Hunter: what's the scariest horror movie you've ever watched?
Adrian: IT
Raine: Annabelle
Terra: Paranormal Activity
Darius: High School Musical
Darius: all throughout Hexside I was afraid that everyone was gonna randomly get up and start singing and dancing, and I would be the only one who didn't know the words

Ok so I saw a comment a while ago (I genuinely don’t know where and I don’t know who said it) that said that the coven heads don’t seem to fit the covens they’re assigned to.
Tumblr media
Firstly there’s Hunter. He’s the head of the emperor’s coven and is fascinated by wild magic (the thing the emperor’s coven is sworn to destroy). Also hunter is powerless and runs the coven for the most powerful people.( @trueduckweed )
Tumblr media
Darius is the obvious one and the one the original comment was about. Abominations are gross and yet Darius is a massive germaphobe. Also abominations work on blind obedience but Darius seems to hate that.( @pansexualnoodle5 )
Tumblr media
Raine was also used as an example. Raine is the head of the bard coven but has stage fright.
Tumblr media
Eberwolf is a bit of a stretch but I still think I have something. Eberwolf is head of beast KEEPING and yet is a beast himself. Under other circumstances they would fit the narrative of the beast that needs to be kept under control.
Tumblr media
The plant coven seems to be mostly about respecting life and the beings around you. But Terra is essentially a narcissistic who would throw everyone away for fun or to get what she wants.
Tumblr media
Unless he’s making himself invisible we never see Adrian use an illusion on himself. He’s a director. Not an actor.
Tumblr media
So many people have brought this up before but Oscar is liTERALLY THE HEAD OF THE ORACLE COVEN AND STILL DIDNT SEE THE DAY OF UNITY COMING
Tumblr media
Hettie is supposed to be a healer yet during the battle she wasn’t checking to see if everyone was alright, she immediately pulled out a scalpel and immediately held it to Eberwolf’s neck.
Tumblr media
Instead of trying to use his coven magic to try and contain the situation Mason immediately pulled out his hammer and started swinging it around.
Tumblr media
Vitimir is honestly one of my favourites and the only one I don’t really have a good idea for.

My headcanons on the coven heads (pt. 2)
(also there’s probably going to be a lot of Eberwolf and Darius hcs because I’m currently obsessed, sorry if that bothers you)
-Hettie tried to dissect Eberwolf once. Ever since then, Eber has been terrified of healers in general.
-Eberwolf is on record for arson and petty thievery, but if he hears even a rumor that you’re abusing animals, he’s not above adding murder to that list.
-None of the coven heads know about the basilisks in the basement, though a few of them are getting suspicious of where all this sudden information on the anatomy of basilisks is coming from.
-There’s a sort of three way understanding between Vitmir, Hettie and Terra that their jobs will intersect much more than is ideal, so they generally get along.
-Eberwolf usually gets up around 5 AM, purely to spite everyone around him. He’s like a cat, he burns off energy by running around and waking everyone up.
-Vitmir puts coffee in his cereal, as though it was milk. Monstrous, I know.
-Mason and Raine are the only coven heads who actually got their positions by moving up the ranks. Everyone else either got it because they murdered the previous head, they had connections, or they went through “The Gauntlet” (I know that’s a terrible name but I couldn’t think of anything else.)
-”The Gauntlet” is a highly dangerous way of becoming coven head. If a coven head position is vacant and Belos can’t find a replacement, the three top students on the boiling isles (one from each school) are required to fight each other to the death upon graduation. Winner gets the position. Yes, I have put way too much thought into this little fictional universe.
-The coven heads have an old storage room in the castle basement that they use to hide from Terra. Everyone who knows is sworn to secrecy.
-Eberwolf went to St. Epiderm. He got expelled for allegedly burning the gym down three days before graduation.
(Oh @exoxopresso I believe you wanted these) (sorry I know they aren’t as good as the last ones)

Who else got the same vibes? ✋
Tumblr media
IMO, the Draining Spell from The Owl House is very reminiscent to the Heart of Etheria being activated in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power:
1. Both events require the highest ranking users of magic from each universe; The princesses 👸 from She-Ra and the coven leaders ✨ from TOH.
2. Both events take place during the season finale of the PENULTIMATE season of their respective shows. Season 4 for She-Ra and Season 2 for the TOH!
3. Both events pretty much led to the emergence of the final villains: Horde Prime in She-Ra and the Collector in TOH!
4. Both events look like they hurt like hell LMAO 🤣
More photos from TOH episode:

Terra’s expression in the top photo is the epitome of “It was at this moment that she knew she f*cked up!”
Don’t you feel like an IDIOT now Terra? Way to go for blindly following Belos 😤
Tumblr media
I hope Raine’s going to be okay even though the spell was stopped. I’m quite worried for them.
EBERWOLF NOOOO!!! 😭

I shall now submit my theory on how Terra will be similar to SPOP’s Shadoweaver and be the morally grey survivor.

[Retired Leaders AU]
Terra thoughts-
So, I’ve mentioned before that she got removed from her position as the Head of the Plant Coven many years ago, and she was replaced by a different witch - Saffron Meadowsweet.
She was demoted, but wasn’t at odds with the law yet. However, she wanted to take revenge on Saffron and tried to assassinate her, which resulted in her becoming an enemy of the state and having to start hiding in more secretive locations to avoid arrest.
Since then she had been trying to spite and cause problems for Belos, the Emperor’s Coven, and Saffron, with the help of other malicious criminals she organized with and became the leader of. Ironically, those attempts to get back at Belos made her a great propaganda tool.
Unlike Eda, she wasn’t a rebel because she didn’t want to conform, didn’t believe Belos’s story, or thought the system was unjust. She was a rebel because she didn’t get to take advantage of the system for her own gain and entertainment, which made her a useful evil to associate wild witches with.
Belos wasn’t particularly eager to vilify Eda to begin with, knowing that she’s his many-times-great niece and Lilith’s sister, and wasn’t malicious towards others, and he would’ve preferred to present her as someone who’s “misguided” like the rest of the Isles once was, and “needs to be set on the right path” that her sister already follows. He only went as far with vilifying her as he needed to for his narrative to remain consistent and believable, and for people not to realize that she was getting special treatment.
Terra, on the other hand, was both easy to paint as a terrible person - because she was, and plenty of people would’ve disliked her already - and there was no reluctance on Belos’s part to vilify her. When he appointed her as a Head Witch, he was already wary of her behavior, but wanted to give her a chance, in part due to seeing her power as a useful tool, but he became fed up with her and started resenting her even before he finally demoted her.
Saffron, the replacement, looked down on Terra, not so much because she cared about the people Terra hurt, but more because she viewed Terra as someone who was so obsessed with a pointless activity that she couldn’t control herself enough to save her own job and reputation, which Saffron saw as pathetic. She has voiced that opinion to Terra’s face, which only made Terra more salty.
Despite hating both Saffron and Belos and being obsessed with getting back at them, Terra didn’t target Belos directly. In large part due to fearing him, and knowing if she attacked him directly, she would likely not make it out alive. She wanted to live to see him suffer, at least for a little bit after she inflicted the pain, so she targeted those he would care about.
This is part of why Belos was reluctant to let Hunter go out much. He was worried Terra would target him, since the Emperor’s Coven still hadn’t managed to arrest and imprison her. Even not knowing about the familial tie there, she would know that whoever ends up as the Golden Guard is someone Belos deeply cares about.
She also engaged in sabotage to simply cause problems for him where she could to hinder his efforts. Though, again, she didn’t care about the morality of what he was doing, she just wanted to irritate and frustrate him.
She was limited in what she could do without getting caught, and made sure to play her cards right to avoid that, staying in hiding. There were even points where she pretended to have gotten nicer to discredit accusations that she’s a real threat. Or that’s how she always presented publicly after a certain point, and only did horrible acts in disguise, out of sight, or through other people.
She wanted to purchase some Abomatons from the Blights - one of her gang members was present at the private sale, however they were all bought by the EC before she could get any, which annoyed her.
She eventually got her wish though, at the expense of her own life. She got to make Belos suffer, by killing Hunter. Unluckily for her, Flapjack revived him. But Belos did briefly believe he lost his child, and Flapjack remains dead, so she did inflict pain.
--
As for other info about her, unrelated to her feud with Belos and Saffron, I’m thinking she had a wife (she’s a lesbian btw). Their relationship was a bit toxic, because someone who’s generally toxic is bound to not be the best even with people they’re close with, but it was mostly functional, and they were attached to each other, though it was stronger on the wife’s end.
The wife was involved in the criminal stuff, but not as much. She handled less aggressive stuff, like attending the Blight Industries private sale. She wasn’t really into the whole feud going on, and worried it wouldn’t end well for Terra, but wanted to support her. She basically watched her wife spiral into her own demise. After Terra’s death, she abandoned the criminal activities and dedicated herself to taking care of their garden. She was in the Plant Coven, like Terra.
The criminals Terra associated with would’ve usually had sigils, though some may not have. The gang mostly dissolved without her leadership.
Some of the stuff in this long post may change later, but this is what I have in mind right now.
