2022/12/08 De vuelta al hotel vimos este bonito edificio con azulejos grantaes en la primera planta y que conserva las letras del originario gran almacén que fue en su epoca. En la planta baja hay una discoteca que parece que pertenece a una familia de elefantes.

A primeira coisa que Moon Minsi conheceu foi o sacrifício. Nem tinha a mínima capacidade de compreender seus arredores quando primeiro o conheceu; quando seus avós encontraram o bebê em seu jardim, deixado lá com apenas uma carta, a letra tremida pedindo perdão por colocar tamanha responsabilidade nas mãos de pessoas que não tinham nada a ver com sua situação, mas que teriam, pediu, simpatia pela criança. “Não gostaria de fazer isso, mas sei que ela não sobreviverá para ver seu aniversário de um ano se eu for egoísta e não admitir minhas deficiências. Nunca serei apta para ser mãe. Não sou apta nem para ser uma pessoa. Não tenho dinheiro, não tenho família, não tenho futuro. Para ela, só tenho a oferecer um futuro diferente do meu.” escreveu a mão invisível.

Foram, então, para a França. Eram uma família bonita, endinheirada, felizes, e todos os outros adjetivos possíveis. Minsi, por outro lado, carregava consigo sentimentos não tão positivos. Por mais que amasse os pais e a irmã, ainda não conseguia deixar de lado a sensação incômoda na barriga que fazia sentir-se como um fardo, um grande peso deixado nos ombros deles. Tal pensamento não era justificado, na verdade. Dami e Chunjae sempre deram seu melhor para que Hazel - nome adotado no ocidente - se sentisse parte da família, sangue de seu sangue. Mesmo nas viagens tomadas em nome dos negócios, eles faziam questão de levá-la junto, independente das reclamações da menina que se tornou uma pessoa introvertida.

Não entenda errado: era introvertida, mas nunca tranquila. A habilidade de cuidar sempre veio muito fácil ao seu alcance. Era quase como se algo no ar a guiasse para aqueles em necessidade, como se as próprias plantas soprassem sussurros em seu ouvido com instruções de como usá-las: corte aquela, amasse essa, o suco dessa é o que você precisa, tormentilha é boa para cólicas, isso vai te matar.

Passava muito tempo com animais de rua e matas que explorava como se fosse um mundo totalmente novo, além do jardim dos avós, o mesmo que fora deixada, quando a família viajava para a vila Manyeo nas férias. Aprendeu que qualquer criatura conhecia mais sobre gratidão do que os humanos, e sentia-se segura mesmo em lugares desconhecidos, se estivesse cercada por vida de qualquer forma. Sabia que, se pedisse ajuda, a terra viria em seu resgate, enquanto carregava uma crença julgamental contra os humanos, mantendo-se o mais longe possível deles. Porém, isso eventualmente veio a mudar.

Encarou a morte como um abandono. Primeiro, o ar deixou seus pulmões quando o reconheceu o fato do avião estar caindo; depois, a consciência a deixou, mesmo após ter acordado; sua força a deixou quando escutou a verdade, perdendo-se entre seu choro descontrolado; seus pais haviam a abandonado, ido em uma viagem sem ela para um lugar escuro. Pediu para que a levassem, implorou para não ser deixada para trás, que nunca mais bateria o pé para não acompanhá-los. Não ousou reclamar nem quando soube dos planos dos avós para que as garotas fossem morar na antiga casa localizada no vilarejo, pois era o único jeito de continuar vivendo. Sentia-se verdadeiramente em casa ali, e aprendeu sobre a vila, sobre as linhagens que corriam pelas ruas desgastadas, sobre as misturas possíveis em suas mãos. Aprendeu o real valor das coisas - aprendeu que, no final das contas, não importava a gratidão alheia, desde que conseguisse manter um coração batendo. Se você estiver vivo, é o que importa: é esse a grande verdade da vida, e Hazel a segue religiosamente.

Following the untimely death of notoriously delusional archaeologist Ryszard Minnich in 2295, the Polish government seized all assets related to his Inheritance Project. All that remained of his decades of work was a collection of hard drives filled with far-fetched theories and conspiracies of clandestine orders long-forgotten; all with nearly no comprehensive evidence. Nearly. In 2316, Ryszard’s great nephew and admirer of his controversial project, Tanek Minnich-Kapolka, became a prominent figure in eastern European politics. Tanek preached the idea of “Terra Relinquo,” which he learned from his great uncle’s ramblings. Tanek’s charisma and the controversial yet appealing nature of Terra Relinquo earned him a seat on the Eurasian Aerospace Council, where Terra Relinquo ideology would spread amongst his colleagues. As fears of an apocalyptic war between the American Continental Federation and the Union of Asian States were reaching an all-time high, the Terra Relinquo-dominated EAC pressed the Polish government to relinquish Ryszard Minnich’s research. Tanek finally had the power to reveal his great uncle’s work to the masses, hoping to find Ryszard some form of vindication in death.

Thanks to a fellow higher up in the EAC, Tanek would gain much more than vindication. Luka Aratani, a prodigious Japanese-Russian software engineer, discovered an inert anomalous device among the Minnich hard drives. Luka was quick to discern that it was some sort of storage drive, but it was clearly not of human design. While Luka worked tirelessly to devise a computer capable of interfacing with the device, his and Tanek’s actions brought a light of hope to Terra Relinquo believers. So much hope that Tanek was able to persuade the governments of eastern Europe and Eurasia to sign off on a proposition to construct colossal spacefaring vessels to his great uncle’s specifications. In 2320, the Minnich Preservation Initiative was officially enacted. Spearheaded by Poland, Ukraine, West Russia, and Latvia, massive economic and material resources were dedicated to the construction of five, 2km-long arks capable of saving millions should the worst come to pass.

The MPI would finish the construction of the arks and ships meant to accompany them in 2418, outlasting its founders but not their legacy. Minnich-Kapolka and Aratani’s investigation into Ryszard Minnich’s otherworldly artifact is a story for another time, but suffice to say that it was the last piece the MPI would need to be complete. This final piece would remain known only to those that needed the knowledge. Though, by 2422, it didn’t matter what made the arks work; the fact that they worked at all was enough. On December 21, 2422, a dormant entity living within the Earth’s mantle awoke. This entity tore the Earth apart as its parasitic offspring preyed on humanity. The MPI’s automated system mistook the tectonic shifts caused by the Creature in the Mantle for nuclear warhead detonations. This error allowed several million people to reach the arks before the Creature in the Mantle reached eastern Europe.

The arks were filled to just below capacity using a calculated demographic variation to ensure the surviving humans would have the necessary skills and variability to endure whatever the vast unknown held for them. The Russian-made ark, the IIK Risunka iz Rai, was the ark designated to receive the majority of civilian population, housing 1.4 Million within its confines. Following the arks’ escape from Earth, the Risunka iz Rai grew to become the capital of the surviving humans, used as a central hub between the arks as they sailed through the stars.

Yet, the question remains. What is the Risunka iz Rai’s secondary purpose? Other arks stored and refined fuel, grew crops and raised animals, managed power generation and distribution, and offered higher education services to Earth’s remnants. Is the Risunka iz Rai simply a residential ark, or does something darker lurk in its depths?
