“[Terror and Erebus] had already been tested by disastrous experiences during polar expeditions, where they and their crews had endured extreme danger, and had shown that they were exceptionally resilient.  [The ships] were generally thought to be ideal for the expedition.  HMS Terror was launched in 1813 and HMS Erebus in 1826.  Both had been strongly built in the first place, as bomb vessels, to take the weight and withstand the recoil of large mortars, used mainly for costal bombardment.  Their formidable names (’Erebus’ signifies the darkness at the entrance to Hell) were intended to strike fear into the enemy.” - Gillian Hutchinson, Sir John Franklin’s Erebus and Terror: Lost & Found.

im 10 days late but oh well...here are my last pieces for terrortober2020! days 25 (carnival - poor macdonald....f), 26 (cold - rip nedward), 27 (epaulettes - the only thing i had written when planning the entire challenge was ‘uniform kink ;)’), 28 (fire - taking some liberties w the word (after all, it is a firearm..) to draw one of my fav mutineers boy), 29 (sacrifice - f for jopson), 30 (maps - badly drawn jcr but oh well) and 31 (scurvy - jeames, of course, pose inspired by angel zarraga’s saint sebastian).

thank you @caravaggiosbrushes for developping this challenge, the prompts were really fun and i had a blast doing this!

also im gonna dedicate scurvy jeames to @i-am-a-hog because 1. they supported me during the whole month and helped me with some artistic choices and 2. where would we be without scurvy jeames.......
