•Priest and Protector•

Some old art of mine, the first three from early last year, the sketch from 2 months ago. Featured is my Hero of Kvatch, Naenia, and Martin Septim.

Naenia, originally from a small farm in the woodlands of Chorrol, was wooed by a man from Kvatch, and left her home behind to marry him. Although things were picturesque at the start, they quickly took a downhill tumble after the birth of their child. Her husband began spending more time away from them, and eventually Naenia learned of his infidelity. Cut off from her home, living in a still unfamiliar city, Naenia was, for the most part, alone. But she found her solace in her daughter, and raised her to the best of her abilities. Often they would find themselves sitting in the Kvatch chapel, and Naenia taught her daughter about having faith in the gods, that they bring joy to balance out the pain. Little eyes would gaze up with wonder at the stained glass windows shining a dazzle of colors on stone. It was also in the chapel that Naenia befriended one of the priests, who noticed their dedicated presence. It was during one moment of weakness while visiting the chapel that Naenia confessed her struggles and betrayal to her newfound friend. Although Martin could do little more than offer his sympathies and support, Naenia found comfort in his concern. Her pilgrimages with her daughter continued until an accident in the marketplace took the life of the little girl. It was that day that Naenia threw away her faith. Lost in grief and hopelessness, Naenia eventually left Kvatch and her life behind, finding her last tie to the city severed. She left behind no notes or any indication of her whereabouts, and Martin was left to wonder about her. Naenia took to the roads, finding escapism in traveling and fighting. For years she adventured, caring only about tasks to distract her and getting paid enough to eat. Eventually, she found herself thrown in the Imperial City prisons for attacking a citizen. It was there that she met the Emperor and was sent on a fateful path leading back to Kvatch, and towards a destiny she could have never imagined.

Whew, that was a lot to type. If you made it this far, thanks for reading and (hopefully) having an interest in my OC! She’s very special to me. I’ve always enjoyed the idea of a HoK who had ties to Kvatch would have known Martin before the events of the main campaign. I actually considered writing this as a fic at some point.
