How They Would Confess Their Feelings To You - Yakuza 0-4
Adding yet another boy to the party. Get ready for my longest post ever.
Kazuma Kiryu: “I don’t know how else to say it... I just... really... like you. I really like you.”
The very definition of palms sweaty. Regardless of your answer, he’s never been more nervous in his life. Honestly wishes he could just hug you and let that alone convey everything he’s ever wanted to say.
He’d try to plan it out, down to picking a day and time and place. He feels a little more confident if he can at least run through how it would go in his mind knowing he picked out the plans for it himself.
Even so, he’ll fumble a little somehow, likely stumbling over his words and kind of just sputtering out his feelings, simultaneously trying to reign it in and let it all out at the same time. He WILL blush.
Majima Goro: “Ya know ya only won ‘cuz you’re cute. Ah, did I just call ya cute? I mean, ya are. Ah, shit, cat’s outta the bag now.”
As upfront as he can be, he’s not stupid either. He likely won’t bothering confessing if he doesn’t think you’d be interested or unless he’s just that crazy about you that he can no longer physically keep it to himself.
He will ask Nishida and Saejima and even Kiryu for advice and then proceed to ignore all of their advice. Secretly, that’s his way of delaying the inevitable because he’s a little nervous.
In the end, he’ll just blurt it out in the heat of the moment. Probably when it’s just you two hanging out, maybe at the batting center, and you beat him at a game. He’ll say something about how it’s a good thing you’re cute or he’d be so mad about losing and then immediately realize what he just said and try to play it cool. If you tease him and say something like “I’m sorry, what did you say?”, he’ll eventually corner you, pull you close and just tell you the truth, almost completely hushed as if he thought you would just disappear once he told you how he really felt.
Saejima Taiga: “I think you’re wonderful and I really like you. You mean a lot to me. I understand if you don’t feel the same. I just wanted you to know.”
When he first realizes he has feelings for you, he’d be all nerves. There would likely be a few times where he would seem unusually unable to speak to you. However, once he finally resigns himself to the truth, he will be composed and calm again.
If Majima catches wind of his feelings, he will absolutely try to give Saejima advice or to try to bug you to see if you feel the same. He’s absolutely into the drama of it all. Saejima pretends it isn’t happening.
His confession will be upfront and to the point. If he’s feeling particularly sappy, maybe he’ll bring flowers. Otherwise, the two of you will meet at a typical hangout spot and when the sun starts to set, he’ll sit you down on a nearby park bench, take a deep breath, and tell you.
Akiyama Shun: “So, I know you already know. I guess I’m still going to have to say it, huh? I haven’t felt this way about anyone in a long, long time.”
He’s not exactly a subtle person so at some point you’ll realize he’s at least mildly interested in you. Even though he still hasn’t fully processed his romantic past, he’s also very prone to falling hard and fast for just about anyone. Akiyama just loves love.
By now, he knows you know but he’s afraid to straight out make the first move due to his past. It’s not that he doesn’t think you’d reciprocate. He knows if you weren’t interested, you’d have said so by now. He’s just worried it’ll go south in the end like it always does and he doesn’t want to feel that pain again or put you through all that trouble.
You’ll likely catch him on the rooftop at Sky Finance, having a smoke. He’ll strike up a conversation with you and when there’s a pause, he’ll let you know that he knows that you know. He’s as coy as ever but deep down he secretly hopes you’ll just grab him and hold him close.
Tanimura Masayoshi: “Look, I’ve got to get something off my chest. I don’t know what this is or what to do about it, all I know is I want you by my side.”
Inexperienced and it shows. It’s not that he’s never gone on dates or had crushes or “done it”, so to speak. He’s just never thought very long or hard about serious relationships and the idea of getting serious with you is enough to make his head spin.
As an orphan, he’s used to being so independent but he’ll likely find himself relying on Mei Hua and Zhao for advice. They suggest telling you in person but the thought of getting rejected face to face makes him want to cry.
It may seem cowardly, but he’ll do it over a phone call. He’ll say he has something to tell you and from there the words will just fall out. His stomach will be so full of butterflies that he’s worried a real butterfly might just fly out of his mouth instead of the sound of his words.
Ryuji Goda: “I’m not sure what else to do at this point except tell ya: ya got me wrapped ‘round your finger. No matter what happens, ya have my heart. I’ll always be there. I promise.”
He will absolutely hide his feelings and keep them to himself for as long as possible. Not a single person in the Omi Alliance will know he’s even capable of romantic thoughts. The downside is that means he can’t just ask anyone for advice. Not that he would anyways. Or at least he’d never admit that he needs the help here.
Always the showstopper, he’ll try to flaunt his way into a confession. He’s hoping that flashy gifts and nice dinners will get the point across. Eventually he will realize he’s just going to have to man up and say it.
One night after a lavish dinner, which isn’t out of the ordinary when you’re friends with a man like Ryuji, you’ll be sitting in his private car and he’ll just silently take your hand. The silence will hang in the air for a few brief moments before he finally tells you how he feels.
Mine Yoshitaka: “I’ve been meaning to tell you something. I can’t stop thinking about you. I don’t think someone has ever meant as much to me as you do, right here, right now.”
He will secretly envision how his confession will go, even daydreaming while he’s on the job. If he’s brooding quietly in his office despite having no work to do, he’s mentally working out all of the potential options trying to decide what’s the best way to go about this.
Out of all of the boys, he’s the most confident in just accomplishing this himself regardless of the outcome. No advice or help needed here. Mine’s precise and calculating in his approach. As long as he makes his intentions clear to you as openly and honestly as possible, he’s satisfied.
In the end, he decides on inviting you out to his place late at night. He’ll serve up your favorite drink and as he hands it to you, his hand will purposely touch yours and linger for a moment. From there, the words will flow naturally, direct and true but never overly flowery or emotionally overrun.
Daigo Dojima: “I never expected any of this. Suddenly, you came into my life and everything isn’t the same anymore. Truthfully, I’m glad. I never want things to go back to the way they were before I met you.”
Running the Tojo Clan has kept him so busy that he honestly hasn’t found time for love. Despite being one of the youngest members in the clan, his job has greatly limited his chances of exploring the dating scene. A confession is a completely alien concept to him.
For you though, he’s more than willing to try. It’s honestly gotten to a point where the thought of you is outweighing the thought of his work and that’s a problem for more people than just him, especially if you also happen to work for the Tojo Clan. If he doesn’t find a time to tell you, it might just slip on accident and he can’t have that happen, at least not in front of others.
He’ll call you into his office since he can’t get out of work much. It’s also one of the only places where he can be alone with you. He’ll avoid eye contact at first, clearly nervous. If you ask him what’s bothering him, he’ll snap into eye contact with you and just say it effortlessly as if a moment ago he wasn’t nearly wringing his hands in agony at the thought of rejection. His calm gaze won’t leave you until he’s finished talking.
Nishikiyama Akira: “I like being with you... I wish I could be near you like this all of the time. I hope you want that too.”
History has shown that Nishiki isn’t actually that great when it comes to confessing his love. If he waits it out TOO long, you might think he’s disinterested and try to move on. On the other hand, he’s worried he’ll misjudge the situation and move things to fast.
He’ll consider asking for help but decide against it. He’s a man and he’s going to do it his way by himself, rejection be damned. Secretly, he doesn’t know if he’d be able to survive being rejected by you.
Knowing him, he’ll get you a gorgeous necklace and use it as a means to finally tell you. Always one for big gestures, he’ll even go so far as to put the necklace on you himself, standing behind him and gently clasping it before he leans over and gently whispers his true feelings to you. He says it so quietly, unusually so for a man that’s typically so confident looking, as if these words were only for you to hear.
Tachibana Testsu: “I’m glad I got the chance to talk to you alone today. I need to tell you... you’re very important to me. More than you could ever know.”
Always calm and collected, romantic feelings are unusual for him as he rarely gets them but it’s not enough to fully rattle him. He will simply wait for the right time to get you alone and tell you.
He’ll drop hints beforehand, things like a small gift or offering to drive you home. It’s not his way of testing how you may feel but more so to see if he’s going too far by offering those kinds of gestures. If he gets the sense that he’s too much into your personal space, he will back off.
Like Daigo, he’ll likely invite you into his office as he can almost guarantee it’s just you two and he can finally let his guard down. His voice will be calm and smooth as ever but in reality his heart is totally pounding out of his chest. Will simply smile softly if you reciprocate.
Nishitani Homare: “I’m just going to say it: you’re cute as hell. I like ya a lot. Do with that what you will.”
He will definitely flirt with you in an attempt to test the waters. Once he knows he’s got a chance, then it’s only a matter of time before it just slips out. He’ll just feel that comfortable around you that it won’t matter when or where it happens.
Absolutely not a planner. He lives life to the fullest and to an extent his feelings are the same way. When it comes out is when it comes out and if it’s meant to be it’s meant to be. He won’t pressure you at all.
Rejection isn’t a worry for him. He knows he’s just so out there that most people, platonically or romantically, are not sure what to do with him. He’s used to it and honestly expects rejection romantically at this point. However, if you reciprocate, he’ll nervously rub the back of his neck and let out a small laugh, relieved that you feel the same. Now he can really be himself around you.

ok, so in this AU Kirishima is a dragon and dragon's in this world are like supposed to be extinct because the humans drove them away when something called "the tragedy" happened, some of the dragons died but some of them assumed human forms to stay alive and Kirishima's mom she wanted to live so instead of risking it to take care of her children she waited until Tatami became old enough to take care of them and left to live a quiet "normal human" life. the Kiri and Tetsu always had a hard time keeping their dragon parts in and that's the main reason she left them. Didn't wanna risk all of them dying but this is selfish on her part.
Tatami resents her mom for this (mommy issues tm) but Kiri and Tetsu were too young for it to bother them all that much

balcony talk
Thinking about how Tachibana’s 1 billion for Kiryu's life, and all the dinners, and showers are another nuclear hit on Majima's stubborn belief that Kiryu is straight.
But, you know… Talking about that time with Majima can lead Kiryu to realise that Tachibana might have had something for him. And that's all fun and games that open a whole new can of worms, oh boy.
And Kiryu didn't think about it all properly (didn’t think about it at all, really), of course he didn't. No processing of grief and trauma in this house yet. He just sits in a room, and has nightmares about it, our boy.
Maybe they were casually chatting, Majima was teasing Kiryu about the hot guy kinda courting him, but this, and just- the fact of talking about this part of his past overwhelmed Kiryu with the new thoughts, and he ran to the balcony to cool off and breathe. Majima followed, and brought the cigarettes.
He didn't expect his light teasing to turn into something so serious, and so he nuked both Kiryu and himself with the topic. Cheers.
But at least this can make Kiryu talk about those events, probably for the first time since it all happened. It was easy to brush away, since he passed all the stages of grief like a champ, really manly.
But the new perspective on how Tachibana might've felt makes thinking back inevitable and harder at the same time. It's so layered, complex. And Kiryu having this epiphany and talking about it tugs at Mama's insecurities and fears, but also… these are the Tachibana siblings.
This is that whole period of time, that story that Majima also never discussed with anyone. Because he, rightfully, knew nobody could understand it. But here Kiryu is. Here they both are. Starting the second shared pack of cigarettes, and not looking at the Millennium Tower.
And Kiryu casually says that he probably can still find the empty lot spot in the building, because to this day he sometimes dreams of running through the alleyways towards it. He can find it blindfolded, by this point (he's late every time in his dreams, too).
Kiryu can't really go there anymore, the place is gone. And it's weird, because it's not like he ever came back to that spot before, when it was there. Before prison, before everything.
But back then he always knew that he, at least, could. You know?
And Kiryu didn't even say goodbye? Or said much of anything? He just held dying Tachibana in the middle of the empty lot, while Makoto talked to him, and cried over him, because she had more rights to do all that than Kiryu did.
Because it was unfair, because they both did so much to get to this moment, and now it was slipping away, and Kiryu was too late, he couldn't stop the world grinding down on this, on something good that might've been.
At least Makoto is out there. Majima kept her safe, didn't he, Kiryu says (oh, g-d). He did. She can be out there, and find something good to have in her life again (Majima kept his Tachibana safe).
I bet it’s weird for Majima to think about Kiryu sitting there with Tachibanas dead body in his arms, while Makoto cried.
He was there for her, when Majima couldn’t be. She was not alone.
Majima is drowning in new context. After hearing that, after swallowing against the vertigo of the new perspective, he can even tell Kiryu about how Makoto is doing now, because. All of this is unpresidential. Reality shifting. The two of them aligned on this experience so long ago… And also, well. Kiryu deserves to know more.
He deserves to know that Makoto is safe, and that… even with that, it's still not the same. Everything.
I doubt that before this moment Majima really considered that Kiryu got hurt in that story as well. He knew it was very messy, and Dojima hunted Kiryu for sport, but he got out of it like a champ because of Kazama's help, didn't he?
This whole Tachibana connection is Kiryu's only, only Kiryu himself knows the extent of it. Like the whole Makoto connection is Majima's only. Only Nishiki and some real estate guys saw bits and pieces of their story. And Nishiki had his own arc, he barely even met Tachibana. Kiryu and Majima are both alone in knowing their own stories (Nishiki was really important to Kiryu in a different way, and for keeping his humanity in the end).
After that whole incident Kiryu went and dived head first in the yakuza life. He abandoned his hobbies and lots of his casual friends. All to become a strong and powerful yakuza. To not fail in protecting people he cares about anymore.
- It's very sad in retrospect, when in kiwami we learn what Kiryu did in the next 7 years after 0. He went into compensation even harder than it seemed. And then went to prison to do nothing but staring at the wall for 10 years.
And all that after he learned to live a civilian life! We saw that he grew up watching lieutenants, but then told Avano and Kuzoa he's not like them. It was such a contrast from the boy who screamed at dad that he wants to be respected, to be a part of dad's world.
He explicitly said it disgusts him now. And after that watching him rejoin was like the kick in the gut. "You can never escape this world".
Did Kiryu think being in the family will help him be on time next time something terrible happens? Because the thing is, he still didn't make it. He was late. Again. Yumi got hurt. Nishiki had to take the killing shot. But, see, Kiryu can still make it right, he can take penance. Because of course it's All His Fault.
– It all comes back to that fucking empty lot, to Tachibana. Who, as it turns out, maybe even loved him.
And Kiryu feels guilty and not guilty both, because despite everything he's still glad that throughout it all he met Majima.
Kiryu doesn't know what could've happened if he was there on time, if Tachibana survived, if everything was different and hurt less. But he does know that he likes that they are standing on the balcony now, smoking gazillion cigarettes in a row. Kiryu still likes being there with Majima.
(Yes, Majima. Kiryu is forreals. Majima's denial horse is getting obliterated, nearly complete defeat.)
Majima will need a solid moment to himself after this. Maybe a couple of days off, away. They both will need them, actually. It was a trip of a talk for both of them. Also they both smoked too much, and probably secretly cried, too, while looking pointedly away into the dark night (they leaned on the balcony railing facing in different directions, because of course).
– Honestly, I get watery eyes, thinking about Kiryu's Tachibana realisation, too. After Kiryu dived head first in queer culture, and started to realise how much he missed out on, didn't get to experience in life? It hits as hard as the news that Kazama killed his parents.
Tachibana taking him to dinners, counfinding his worries to Kiryu, trusting him with the most treasured parts of his life…
"So… did you care for him back?" – asks Majima, because he can't bring himself to say what he means directly. And Kiryu makes an incomprehensible noise, and asks "Did you care for her, too? Makoto." Majima inhales the smoke and holds it in until his lungs start to hurt before answering: “More than anything in the world.”
And it is true. She became the centre of his universe for some time.
“Never again,” he probably told himself, while continuing to wholeheartedly live for others only, neglecting himself.
– And Majima will spill his side of the story too. Right in the moment, after he heard everything. He understands now that Kiryu deserves to know it. It’s hard to get the words out, but Mfjima got to see this whole story clearer, got to know it in full with Kiryu’s perspective. Kiryu has the right to it too.
Kiryu put so much heart and effort into trying to bring Makoto to Tachibana, he deserves to know more about her.
Also with whom Majima will ever talk about all this? Again, there’s literally no one else who can get this, besides the two of them.
So Majima talks. Leaving out most of the details and awkwardly laughing when his own pov sounds a bit too pitiful. It is not about him, after all (it is). But the story itself makes things quite obvious.
Majima’s actions, what he actually did at any given moment is way more telling than what he was saying in the moment, or how he describes what happens years later.
– And yes, this is where Majima's "he's straight" horse in a hard hat got a major hit, and was taken down a notch. And Kiryu's stubborn attempts of going out on a limb and flirt suddenly became harder to ignore.
– Imagine, after the couple days Kiryu and Majima spent resting and re-evaluating things in the aftermath of the balcony talk, Kiryu is back again at Majima Construction. He's on a smoke break, still a bit distracted and absent minded, and he's patting himself looking for a lighter, a cigarette in his lips.
And Majima comes up to him and lights it. And they proceed to not talk at all, just stand there smoking together.
And Nishida, who was weary all these days, because boss was uncharacteristically quiet, and Kiryu was gone, is all "!!!!!!!"
Finally Nishida sees some progress. He needs a smoke too, now. Even though he doesn't smoke. Before this he saw them only standing near each other at a polite distance at best. There was at least 1 meter of suffering and consideration between them at all times. So Nishida is observing like a hawk. They're on 30 sm allowed distance now! That's a big step.
Musketeer: 30 sm isn't a very big step, isn't it? Nishida: 😑

How To Tell When They Have A Crush On You: Yakuza 0-4
Was only a matter of time before I started busting out the cute romance fluff posts. Also expanding to include yet another boy. Let’s get into it.
Kazuma Kiryu: His Smile
Kiryu is not much of a smile person. It’s not that he doesn’t ever feel happy, he just has for lack of a better phrase “resting bitch face”. It’s probably why he gets into fights randomly so much.
He won’t suddenly be all smiles around his crush but you’ll definitely catch him cracking a little smile. He might also make a satisfied “hmph” sound or chuckle lightly.
He tends to close his eyes and nod a little when he smiles. It’s almost as if having a genuine smile is something his whole body feels. He’s just happy to see you, really.
Majima Goro: His Words
Majima is not good at being subtle. He prefers being upfront anyways so if he’s into you, he’ll say something about it. It won’t be as outright as a confession, unless he knows for sure you’d reciprocate.
Lots of pet names and flirtatious exchanges. Almost every verbal interaction will have him replacing your name with “doll” or “darlin’” instead. He’ll also totally slip in some innuendos if you let him.
Compliments are his thing. Obviously if he’s into you he’ll probably already think you’re just the coolest but he’s not one to keep his thoughts to himself. Also get ready to have the “-chan” honorific permanently attached to the end of your name.
Saejima Taiga: His Eyes
The letter S stands for Saejima and it also stands for shy. Always the polar opposite of his sworn brother, the thought of verbalizing his feelings towards you is enough to make him pass out.
He’s a little like Kiryu with the whole “resting bitch face” issue. However, his eyes will instantly soften upon seeing you. Generally he relaxes more around you but you can really see it in his eyes.
He tends to let our relieved sighs when he sees you. Saejima’s almost like a puppy dog in a way, he’s very much like “oh good, my person is here”.
Akiyama Shun: His Laugh
Akiyama is always chummy with pretty much every girl he knows and it’s super common for him to slap the “-chan” honorific onto pretty much all girls. What can I say, he’s a ladies man.
With you though, he will let out the most genuine laughs you’ve ever heard. It doesn’t matter if you make the worst pun, he’s all smiles and giggles. Just being around you makes him giddy.
He’ll call you silly a lot of the time or tease you to try to get a reaction out of you, which only makes him laugh more.
Tanimura Masayoshi: His Time
He’s a busy boy. A very busy cop boy. So if he’s making time to see you, you REALLY matter to him. Even if at first he gets to know you via something business related, if he’s into you, you will notice quite quickly that he’s visiting you more often but less so for business reasons.
When he’s not able to physically make it out to see you, he’ll avidly text you. Expect lots of “how’s you day?” messages. Will also send you memes or images that he finds online that make him think of you.
He’ll totally send you selfies while he’s at work. Tanimura isn’t exactly a slacker but he does get a kick out of secretly sending you messages on the job. You just mean that much to him.
Ryuji Goda: His Voice
Ryuji has always been a boisterous man but man he gets loud if he knows you’re in the room. All eyes on Ryuji, especially your eyes. Inside, he’s really thinking “notice me!”.
Unlike Tanimura, Ryuji is one for making phone calls. He may be a busy man but he’ll always find some way to call you once a day. He just enjoys talking to you.
When physically near you, especially in group settings, he will try to get your attention. He says “oi” a lot. Will absolutely become the loudest man in a restaurant when speaking to you. Also probably tells dad jokes to try to get you to smile.
Mine Yoshitaka: His Neck
Now this may sound weird at first, but since Mine is not very expressive, his neck is his giveaway. If you walk in, he will suddenly snap his attention up to look at you so fast that you might think he hurt himself doing so.
He tries very hard to hide if he’s flustered. A big tell is if he rubs the back of his neck with his hand.
If he’s taller than you, he will absolutely bend down to your level. He sees that as a close enough form to physical intimacy, at least in the pre-relationship stages. Also very coy and will totally turn his head to look up at you flirtingly. Silent but deadly.
Dojima Daigo: His Manners
Who’s the boss of the Tojo Clan? He is. And who is above him? You. And he will treat you as such. You’re one of the few if not the only person he defers to. He will always bow when he sees you, even if you two are close. He’s not great with words so this is how he can show you and any other potential suitors nearby that he’s interested.
Also is quite a gentleman. He will always hold doors open for you. Are you heading out from Tojo Clan Headquarters and forgot your umbrella? Not only is Daigo ready and waiting but he will personally walk you out to the car, umbrella in hand, and see you off safely.
He will always ask how you’re doing and expresses an active concern for your wellbeing. It doesn’t matter if he’s about to go into a busy meeting, he will find time to greet you properly.
Nishikiyama Akira: His Hands
He’ll start gesturing a lot. It makes him look bigger and grander, at least in his mind. He’s just also generally more excitable around you and it shows physically.
Whenever he’s out with you, he will always usher you in through doorways by simply extending his hand towards the open doorway and saying “after you”.
Anytime he gets the chance to rest his hand against you, he will. A pat on the head, resting casually on your shoulder, or pressed ever so gently against your back.
Tachibana Tetsu: His Breathing
Tachibana is very good at restraining himself. Sometimes he’s too good at it. Until he can confirm how you feel, he’ll hold his cards close to his chest. But you’ll catch him sighing as you leave or excitedly inhaling when you arrive.
Although he doesn’t talk much, when he does he’s usually so well put together. With you though, he might trip over a word or two. If you flash a smile at him, especially if he for some reason makes an attempt to say something funny, his chest will swell with pride.
His shoulders relax in your presence. Any tenseness from his day at work just melt away and he can breathe easy when he’s near you.
