Hey everyone! I wanted to let you know that the crowdfunding campaign for my senior thesis short film “The Last Night” is now live!!! I am so so excited to share this with everyone!
The film is about Vampires. If you know me at all, then you know that me making a movie about Vampires for my capstone project is a very full circle moment. Middle school Jada would be SO proud!
If you can't donate, it's okay!! All I ask is that you like, share and tell your friends about my film! Any help I can get really helps. I look forward to sharing this process with y'all as production continues. The film will premiere in May of 2023!
As always, any support means everything! Here are some things to remember:
The perks are a bonus! You don't have to donate that amount if you don't want to. You can donate whatever amount. However much or however little. Everything helps!
The campaign ends March 11 @ 10:59PM, so if you can't donate right now and you want to, you have plenty of time!

Hey y'all! I've decided to start a fundraiser to help raise some money for grad school in the event that I don't get much from the FAFSA (I'm 25 and no longer a dependent, but I'm not holding my breath). It's a bundle of projects so you'll actually get something in return!

The GOP would probably love to restrict voting just to white people over 55 who wear MAGA caps and attend Christian fundamentalist churches.
A Texas GOP state legislator wishes to ban public colleges and universities from serving as polling places. It just so happens that a large public university exists in her legislative district. 🤨
Republican Rep. Carrie Isaac recently introduced a bill which would ban polling locations at public universities.
This would make it more difficult for students to vote.
Isaac represents Hays County just south of Austin, where Texas State University is located.
While her bill would make it more difficult for college students to vote, Texas A&M Kingsville Associate Professor of political science Travis Braidwood said college campuses tend to have a lot of people live near them who aren't students.
"Potentially shutting them down anyway could also deprive other voters access to those voting places," he said. "It's really unfortunate. If anything, you want to expand the franchise of voting, not restrict it."
3NEWS received recent voting statistics from the Nueces County Clerk's Office that gave an account of the number of voters at area universities.
Last November, 2,364 people voted at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi while 3,204 voted at Del Mar College.
"So really, this raises the other question, if it isn't voter fraud, is this an attempt to suppress certain voters, particularly young voters?" Braidwood said.
Yep, it’s pretty blatant. Private universities (especially Christian ones) would not be covered by Rep. Isaac’s bill.
Assistant Professor of political science for TAMU-CC Sanne Rikhoff said that colleges have long been at the center of discussion when it comes to polling locations.
[ ... ]
Rikhoff said counties normally have the deciding say in where polling locations are placed.
"The counties are ultimately the ones who decide where polling places will be in an election. And most often they choose public places with good parking, availability. And also a space in which these elections can take place throughout early voting and election days," she said.
BTW, are you registered to vote?
Be A Voter - Vote Save America
Voter registration is done by address. Every time you move you must register. Even if you just move down the street you must amend your voter registration.

Harry Styles • Texas course • 20.07.2022
This has to be a joke.
How many courses about the film industry, public relations and communication techniques are out there… You are telling me that from all of those the one unique course from the public university of the state of Texas that, with all my respect will never affect us by any means, reaches the hands of the fandom ("organically") and has such an impact on the media???? so much that if you look for information on HS the most important several news are these?? 🙄

A professor at my alma mater is teaching a class on Harry and I'm so upset because I would fucking ace this class. IS IT TOO LATE TO GO BACK TO COLLEGE?!!?!?!
A description of the class said it "focuses on British musician Harry Styles and popular European culture to understand the cultural and political development of the modern celebrity." Students will touch on topics such as race, class, internet culture, fan culture, consumerism, and fashion throughout the course.

Being part of the Bobcat Marching Band!
This is my second year here at Texas State University and it is also my second year being part of the campus's biggest organization, the Bobcat Marching Band, with 300+ members. In the band, I play the clarinet and have 16 other clarinets in my section. We have been practicing since August 13th, even in 106-degree weather. We practice 3 times a week for about 2 hours, not including our football game days.
This past weekend, we got to go to one of our away game in San Antonio to play against UTSA in the Alamodome. It was such an amazing experience to be there, and we were given the opportunity to play with the UTSA band during halftime, third picture, and in together we were over 800 members on the field.
Even though we lost the game, only by one touchdown, I got to meet many new people and I finally got to march with my of my high school friends again, the first picture. We are the only 2 members from my high school band who decided to continue marching and got to finally catch up. We have not been able to march together for 3 years and being able to see each other and marching together made the day very special.

I was an extra in the Richard Linklater’s “Everybody Wants Some” which is a sequel to the classic “Dazed and Confused”. I grew up watching that movie and I loved it. It kind of helped me bond with my older sisters and aunts because they were potheads and liked to party.
When I got the gig I was attending Texas State university at San Marcos which is where they were shooting the movie. I had long hair and dressed pretty retro so I fit the look for casting call. The day of shooting was really cool. They dressed me up, did my hair and makeup, and we were shuttled to all the different scene spots. There was a lot of cast members who I didn’t know at the time but later started to see in movies I’d watch and I'd be like "hey! I was right next to that person!" I was really shy and quiet so I didn’t really talk to anyone on shoot day. I was mostly just observing and freaking the heck out that I was actually apart of a movie, let alone part of something I grew up watching! Richard Linklater spoke to me directly during some of the shots and he had walk in front of the cast members. I guess he thought I looked appealing for the camera. That was really freaking cool. If you don't know who Richard Linklater is, he's a big deal and has made some awesome films.
I was supposed to shoot on a 2nd day. It was a night scene at a ranch party out in the middle of nowhere but I had a lot of anxiety and didn’t wanna drive 1-2 hours at night by myself and then risk driving back sleepy so I didn't go and I was suspended for any future casting calls.

The PAC last week...
Tumblr media
I saw this and posted my own take on an AAC approach to this opportunity on a site last week.
I do not think this scenario is likely at all. Aresco has seen Boise State screw up his plans for a revenue pumping national footprint 3 times previously. They are like UT-Austin, a "fleckless potential partner". If he includes them again, I am sure they will fuck it up again.
It is funny how quickly the "most likely scenario" can change in realignment.
"Looks like Washington State and Oregon State want to join the MWC [if the "Calford Express" make it into the ACC].
If I was the AAC Commish, I would be trying to get my media partner to sponsor slots for a major expansion. I would offer Washington State, Oregon State, San Diego State, Texas State, UNM, CSU, and Air Force slots...
The thinking being you almost got CSU and Air Force AFTER the AAC was raided.
If you pull Washington State and Oregon State, SDSU is going to be a lot more interested because this whole PAC thing has left them with egg on their face and having to throw themselves at the feet of the MWC. The MWC has not been kind. SDSU was motivated to go ages ago. They really would like to be anywhere else. And if they can go with Oregon State and Washington State, it allows SDSU to not continue to eat crow.
I think UNM would obviously take the offer for the couple million money bump. With SDSU & UNM gone, the MWC TV deal drops a little and that maybe brings both of the Colorado Schools after all.
Texas State would replace SMU and give the conference a large enrollment school in the Austin DMA, giving the AAC the financial engine of all 4 of Texas' large DMAs."
Right after this OSU publicly recommitted to pursuing Power 5 status, suggesting a snub on the MWC's overtures.

DEI Legislation Tracker
The Chronicle is tracking legislation that would prohibit colleges from having diversity, equity, and inclusion offices or staff; ban mandatory diversity training; prohibit institutions from using diversity statements in hiring and promotion; or prohibit colleges from using race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in admissions or employment. All four proscriptions were identified in model…
