It's World Book day!

World Book day aims to encourage reading for pleasure and for children to have a book of their own. It is celebrated today in 100 countries around the world.

With this, im very honored to say that in just 4 years, I have illustrated my first two kids books!

I look forward to illustrating more books in the future that children can be excited about reading, and want to read over and over.

#bungou stray dogs #bungo stray dogs #bsd #bsd fanart #bsd oda #bsd odasaku #osamu dazai and the dark era #a little dark era piece inspired by wanderer above the sea of fog by caspar david friedrich #i was intending to do a nice gentle illustration in honour of oda but it has ended up very dramatic as often happens asdffdgsd #and then i thought it would look quite cool as a book/movie cover so i added the text and made a nice mock-up! #i'm always keen to do artwork that has literary influence on the characters' birthdays so i might try to do another small little drawing #but i think i just wanted to represent how cool he is as a character! and how atmospheric and moving this arc is #i think it's the point which heightened my interest in the series - oda is so interesting and lovely #he is so fundamental to so much of the narrative too - it's quite fascinating #...also dazai is technically here but i won't tag him asdfgfdg #botanautical #tw blood

there was an attempt at some point to write some of the characters on the signs but the lighting and the quality of the photo led me to scribbles as placeholders for many </3

The Vienna Dioscurides or Vienna Dioscorides is an early 6th-century Byzantine Greek illuminated manuscript of an even earlier 1st century CE work, De materia medica (Περὶ ὕλης ἰατρικῆς : Perì hylēs iatrikēs in the original Greek) by Pedanius Dioscorides in uncial script. It is an important and rare example of a late antique scientific text. After residing in Constantinople for just over a thousand years, the text passed to the Holy Roman Emperor in Vienna in the 1500s, a century after the city fell to the Ottomans.

The 491 vellum folios measure 37 by 30 cm and contain more than 400 pictures of animals and plants, most done in a naturalistic style. In addition to the text by Dioscorides, the manuscript has appended to it, the Carmen de herbis attributed to Rufus, a paraphrase of an ornithological treatise by a certain Dionysius, usually identified with Dionysius of Philadelphia, and a paraphrase of Nicander's treatise on the treatment of snake bites.
