Things You Should Know About Banarasi Sarees - Padmashali
Introduction
The saree is the national dress of Indian women and plays an important role in their lives. Because of its charm, most women wear the saree to any occasion. The Banarasi sarees are most popular and worn by Bengali women, but with time it is also getting famous among women of all religions and social classes. The Banarasi sarees are making waves in the Indian fashion industry and around the world.
Several elaborate and sophisticated patterns are weaved into the six yards of this traditional garment, making it gorgeous. Varanasi still uses handloom weaving techniques with these great designs with gold and silver threads to construct these even though we have such advanced technology these days. These lovely and gorgeous sarees had gained so much popularity that now they are every woman's first choice in terms of Indian dress. These days Designers started using zari, motifs, and emeralds and making these sarees look exotic and these sarees are actually gaining more popularity.
Origin of Banarasi Saree
Banarasi sarees are produced mainly in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. They are a good option for any type of celebrations, festivals, and weddings. They are really heavy in terms of weight. This happened because a lot of intricate needlework is done on these sarees. These sarees are produced in different fabrics like Organza, Georgette, Shatir, and pure silk. Organza, satin borders, jangla, Brocades, Tanchoi, cutwork, and Resham butidar are some of the other various variations of Banarasi silk sarees that contain intriguing motifs of animals, birds, floral, fruit, human figures, and geometric patterns.
Making of Banarasi Saree
Weaving a Banarasi sarees normally takes between 15 and 30 days, Mainly it depends on the designs and patterns. If the design is complex it will take more time than usual. Three workers are needed to create a single saree. The first weaves the saree, the second handles the spinning ring in forming bundles, and the third one manages the border design. Making a Banarasi saree necessitates collaboration. The  Banarasi sarees should have about 5600 thread wires and are 45 inches broad. The artisans create a base that is 24-26 inches long. The motifs are designed beginning with the bundling stage.
First of all, An artist produced the design on a paper with the colours. Before picking the final design, punch cards are prepared, followed by hundreds of perforated cards to fit a single saree design. A variety of colours and threads are utilised to weave the perforated cards on the loom. The perforated cards are then paddled in a systematic fashion to ensure that the entire weave picks up the correct colours and patterns.
Conclusion:-
India is getting famous because of its rich culture and their outfits. Even in Western countries, our culture is growing really fast. It is happening because of the Internet and e-commerce sites. Nowadays it is easy to purchase anything no matter if you are sitting in another part of the world you can purchase easily with the ease of your fingertips.
