Pairing: Dean x Reader AU

Word Count: 1636 (with lyrics)

Warning: Tear-jerking fluff (and if not, then just fluff.)

A/N: This fic was inspired by the song, “Here to the Moon and Back” (click to listen), by Dolly Parton featuring Willie Nelson. When I first heard the song in the movie, Joyful Noise, I instantly fell in love. It is seriously amazing. In fact, listen to the song before or after reading this fic. If you want, listen to it while you’re reading it. It’s such a beautiful song and you wont regret it.

Finally, you could officially call yourself a Winchester. You and Dean had said your “I do’s” and now here you were at the reception hall of your wedding, having the time of your life with your new husband, and everyone else you held dear to your heart. Dean was laughing, along with his best friend, Castiel, at something Sam had said. You on the other hand was too busy admiring your husband to notice your maid of honor, Charlie, and bridesmaid, Jo, making fun of you for being a love stuck puppy. It wasn’t until you heard their giggles that you turned to them, asking what was so funny.

“Honey, you’ve got it bad,” Jo teased.

“What the hell are you talking about?” You asked, a smile spreading on your lips.

“Dean is all yours! You can stare at him all you want after the party!” Charlie giggled.

“Shut up,” you huffed in amusement as your cheeks flushed red.

Jo reached out her hand, a napkin in it’s grasp, “here, let me wipe off that drool,” she joked, making you and Charlie break into hysterics.

“You’re awful,” you chided, laughing regardless.

As the party went on from dinner to games, the moment you were most anxious for was quickly approaching.

During the final planning stages for the wedding, the topic of the first dance as husband and wife had been brought up. You and Dean had no idea what song you wanted to use, nor did the two of you begin to discuss it. After multiple late nights of discussing which song should be used, Dean had eventually given up and came up with a compromise. The song wasn’t as much of a big deal to him as it was to you, so he had decided to let you chose what ever you wanted. He trusted you and was sure that you would chose the perfect song.

Eventually, you had finally picked a song. When Dean or anyone asked what it was, you simply told them that it was a secret. The only people who knew what it was was your Emcee, Chuck, and his bandmates, who had sworn to secrecy.

You and Dean were incredibly thankful to Chuck and his band. Not only had they cleared up their schedule to provide the entertainment for you wedding, but they had offered to do it for free. Dean was insistent that they’d get paid, but Chuck and the rest of the guys wouldn’t have it. They had threatened to not play at the wedding if Dean paid them. You were truly blessed.

With the song in mind, you anxiously waited for the moment to come. When it was almost time, you excused yourself to use the restroom, reassuring your green-eyed husband that you’d be back shortly. Having planned everything ahead of time with Chuck, your Emcee for the night, and his band, everything was all prepared.

Your movements caught Chuck’s eye, and as soon as you were out of sight, he took to the mic announcing that it was time for the bride and groom to meet on the dance floor for their first dance. The large crowd clapped and howled with glee while Dean searched around the large room for his wife.

“Y/N went to the restroom,” he shouted to his wedding court, then repeating it to Chuck so that he could possibly stall until you got back.

“Oh, it seems that Y/N went to the restroom, but that’s okay. Let’s get the groom to the floor as we wait for the lovely Mrs. Winchester,” Chuck announced instead.

Dean was hesitant, but with the cheering support of his and your family, friends, and other guests in the venue, Dean scrambled his way to the dance floor. He stood there smiling as a slight blush dusted his cheeks, due to the fact that all eyes were on him and only him. He waved at everyone in appreciation attempting to hide his embarrassment while bright flashes were going off around him and phones were being held out taking pictures and possibly videos.

His eyes widened with panic when the music began to start. His eyes searched the room frantically expecting to see you, his wife, approaching the dance floor, but when he didn’t, his anxiety began to bubble inside of his stomach. Just as he was about to run over to Chuck and cut the music, he immediately froze at what he heard.

“I could hold out my arms and say ‘I love you this much.’ I could tell you how long, I will long for your touch. “How much and how far, would I go to prove The depth and the breath of my love for you.”

Dean was not expecting to hear your voice fill the room in perfect rhythm to the live instruments. He knew that singing in front of people, other than him, gave you anxiety, but here you were, singing the song you kept from him and everyone else in front of all these people without a single tremor in your voice. He loved your signing. He loved your voice.

Dean slowly turned, seeing you walking through the crowd with a tiny microphone clipped to your heart-shaped dress, gliding your way over to the most handsome man you had ever laid eyes on. The man you now called yours. The man who was now your husband. You were smiling at him, your eyes sparking in the warm lighting.

“From here to the moon and back Who else in this would will love you like that? Love everlasting, I promise you that From here to the moon and back From here to the moon and back.”

You sang, finally reaching your destination next to Dean before taking his hand, lacing your fingers together. The room was completely silent aside from the tune playing. Dean gently pulled you close, your bodies flush against each other. He guided your hands around his neck, while he slithered his hands across your soft arms, down your sides, and stopping on your hips before sliding to the small of your back. His soft touches were warm, intimate, and gentle, sending goosebumps to litter your smooth skin.

Dean took the lead and as he began to sway you around the dance floor and you continuing to sing.

“I want you to know you can always depend On promises made and love without end No need to wonder how faithful I’ll be Now and on into eternity.”

Dean was grinning widely, the skin crinkling at the side of his smiling emerald eyes. He held you tightly against his body with tenderness and adoration etched into his facial features. The song, it’s lyrics, and your voice, was filling his heart rapidly, that he felt like it was going to explode in his chest. He was overwhelmed with love that he didn’t know what to do with himself, so he continued to smile while his eyes glossed over.

“From here to the moon and back Who else in this world could love you like that? Forever and always I’ll be where you’re at From here to the moon and back From here to the moon and back.”

A tear fell from Dean’s eyes, eliciting a small chuckled from your lips. Your hands shifted from his neck to his cheeks, cupping them as you wiped away the stray tear with your thumb, admiring his every feature in detail.

After all these years of being with him, you still couldn’t believe that he was yours. You couldn’t believe that a man like him would ever chose a woman like you, or would ever love you the way that he did. It was like a fairytale, an unreachable dream, but here you were. He was standing right in front of you, staring into your deeply colored eyes, holding you close like you were going to float away.

“I love you,” you mouthed, Dean easily understanding what you were relaying to him. All he did was lean in and place his full lips against yours in a short but deep and passionate kiss.

Completely breath taken and love drunk just from the touch of his lips, you almost missed your cue to sing.

“I would blow you a kiss from the star where I sat I would call out your name to echo through the vast Thank heaven for you and to God, tip my hat From here to the moon and back

And I’ll spend forever just proving that fact From here to the moon and back From here to the moon and back.”

As the music faded away, Dean’s eyes were glued to yours, unable and unwilling to look any where else. He was looking at the most beautiful and the most incredible woman he had ever met. How he had gotten so lucky was beyond him, but he was so thankful and grateful that he didn’t care how it happened, but that it did happen. You were his everything.

The room erupted into applause, the sound barely a whisper compared to the pounding of his heart in his ears and racing thoughts of you. It felt like no one else was in the room, and if he wasn’t aware that people were watching, he would have taken you right here and right now, not wanting to wait for the honeymoon.

“I love you, Dean Winchester,” your voice traveling into the microphone and broadcasting to your guests.

“I love you too,” Dean responded, his own voice filling the room.

Catcalls came from everywhere in the room, producing giant smiles on your faces. As much as you were going to remember this day, Dean was going to have this day carved into his soul so that in his next life, he would forever remember this moment.

when or if I started shipping it. my thoughts: okay so i think i’ve known them since 2013, i was a lurker and had seen stuff of them. i even had a bad impression of them bc said materials let me saw the “fanon komahina” with crazy stalker ko x tsun maso hinata so i stayed away as much as possible from that order (till now tbh it scarred me). then dr3 happened ! i invested a lot of time while dr3 was airing to get to know them and spoiled myself to the majority of sdr2, i was in denial in that period tbh bc i was dissatisfied with their rship in sdr2 bc of the lack of closure and how i believed hinata won’t ever return komaeda’s feelings (as how i put it before when i still didnt know better) it’s almost hilarious i was in denial i ship them while i read their top fics in ao3, 100k word fics included, every night then wake up and tell the world nope! i dont ship them! then it just happened, the denial decreased, i started to read more abt sdr2, followed ppl and read their thoughts about komahina, kibou hen already ended, occasional rts (spams) their art in twitter then before i knew it, i never expected myself to like komahina but im in here deep

What makes me happy about them: how do i even start… i had to sort through my memory bc almost all of their canon interactions make me sad. ok first thing i love how one’s smile has impact to the other, of how hinata thinks ko’s smile is calming and drives his worries away and how painful it was for komaeda to remember hinata’s that implies to weigh equally as his death in sdr2.5 ( this is sad and not happy wtf ) hinata wanting to understand komaeda, komaeda feeling serenity when he’s with hinata, the dangan island scenes!! the ridiculous ones with “i don’t mind if you want to see me naked”, hinata taking komaeda to a carousel, komaeda being nervous around hinata when he noticed they’re alone, hinata never expressed disgust or called ko “creepy” in canon unlike the others where he thinks komaeda being confusing. and hinata reaching out to take komaeda’s hand twice in sdr2.5

What makes me sad about them: everything in sdr2 wtf? one, there’s so many unsaid things between them in canon, like komaeda saying less about his feelings when there’s more to it, him lying about lying about his condition in his last fte and hinata’s confused and frustrated over that? he didn’t know which are true or not and he simply can’t figure it out alone. komaeda and their hostile situation are definitely not helping. also where he shrugs off thoughts that could lead him understanding komaeda’s true feelings as “overthinking” especially in chapter 5. but in the end of his fte, hinata acknowledges he feels a mysterious bond with him which is true, of how they look after each other in a way after everything and other else.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: i back off before i start to read those i think are gonna annoy me but i hate myself and i still checked so here are some,

-the fanon komahina mentioned above goes here without a doubt-the crack fics that spam and flood their tag… like really? shrekmaeda? trumpmaeda? s*mmer l*ve???-the “uwu so pure cant hurt everyone! pls protect me hinatakun” komaeda and “hide in my arms babe im here for u” hinata-just. very aggressive and clingy komaeda.-violent dom/sub, noncon, hate sex-shsl slut hinata-kun-fucking komaeda who’s stuttering every single time

Things I look for in fanfic: i’m up to anything! tbh i’ll accept any post dr3 where they’re happy or alternative post sdr2 where it’s angsty with pent up emotions and both of them have to deal with a lot of things left from the simulation (im disappointed sdr2.5 didnt give us drama :0 ) or just simple fluff aus good for the soul. angsty aus bc sadness is never enough to me. canon divergence!! im happy to see some twists made within sdr2… and dr3 please.

My kinks: komahina being passionate with each other : ‘ D

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: non Non No. this ask got very long do you think i even have the time to imagine either of them without the other… well there’s kamukoma, technically it doesn’t count, and that’s it

My happily ever after for them: komahina moving on from ordeals together finally reached a complete understanding, they might still hit a rocky road along the way but they have each other to rely on. that s cheesy, most probably, but please

Seriously “he’s got enough strength of will to be able to take xemnas’s place if he only got the chance” and “he has a nerdy loser type feel to him and this was an intentional thing we consider to be a positive character trait” are like THE BIGGEST AND BEST ODD COMPLIMENTS TO GIVE ICE DAD Its always such a nice feel to have the creator of some game you like actually mention your underappreciated fave for once and practically say “we have a soft spot for him too”

This is like how i felt when i got that one Charon trading card thats his only piece of merchandise ever and its this unexpected kinda cute not-so-evil looking thing of him being cute with a tiny pokemon friend. Plus out of all the admins he was the only one who even got a full artwork card! PLUS the whole fact that this card if depicting an event from his super fuckin rare ridiculous wifi rotom event and its the closest we’ve ever got to confirming that the Cute As Fuck Sympathetic Backstory Diary was meant to be him and not cyrus. Tho I mean I thought it was plenty obvious when the dude signed his name on it, its written in his distinctive speech pattern, and both of these things were translated correctly to match how they were changed in the english dub. Also like seriously the dude fuckin has an entire secret basement lab full of rotom machines all painted in rotom colours and the rotom is in an OLD house with an OLD journal and rowan talks about an OLD coworker in an OLD conference telling an OLD story about a rotom and charon is OLD and cyrus is NOT OLD and also has been stated that his childhood home is in sunyshore not eterna. Also the second rotom room in HGSS chronologically earlier in the timeline which looks identical and implies that Charon worked for team rocket before team galactic so even if you go with the theory that “oh the signature is just saying the ROOM belongs to charon but he actually stole someone else’s rotom journal and just went looking for rotom to steal it too” then i dont think it could be cyrus then if he had it before team galactic was formed and he ever met cyrus? Also how and why would he be able to have all this completed research on rotom and all these functioning rotom machines that are painted showing he knows exactly what rotom looks like? If he only just found this journal and hasnt captured a rotom yet? Also you’d think that the player would find the one rotom capture spot in the entire game inside this particular lab and find it locked in a cage or something, instead of .. yknow... NICE AND CUTE ROOM FULL OF DECORATED MACHINES AND NO SCARY CAGES and also the rotom is in the OLD house of an OLD guy which is just down the fuckin road from this secret lab. like if he was looking for rotom he’s a dumbass to miss it being five metres away the entire time, and also a fuckin psychic to even have his own door key have a plastic figurine of the pokemon he hasn’t ever caught. 100% EVIL DUDES DO NOT MAKE CUTE FIGURINES OF THE MON THEY ONLY WANT FOR WORLD DOMINATION

tfw ur fave is never confirmed for sympathetic OR unsympathetic and you just get caught on the tiny evidences that seem very convincing but might be completely false and you just read too much into it and the specter of Finally Someday New Content For This Man That Will Answer All The Questions is hovering around on an indeterminate relase date and you dont even know if he’ll make an appearance in it at all

vexen and charon really do have a lot in common lol

So yeah i’m excited for kh3 to expand more upon Vexen’s role and give us some damn answers as to whether the ‘he is actually good and also a dad’ headcanon is remotely possible. even if im still gonna make fanart of it even if it ends up being non canon, i’ll just know to label it as a “this would have been better i think” au, yknow? And maaaan i really hope we get sinnoh remakes someday and charon gets a chance of having his hanging questions get answered too. I can’t believe its really been 11 years now! It’d be ironic if it ends up being exactly the same length as the wait for kh3, lol

Anyway thats why even “he was intentionally meant to be a funny underdog that you felt sorry for” is a real big revelation for characters like this, when you’ve put up with literally over a decade of being told He’s Bad And Creepy And You’re SUpposed To Hate Him Thus You’re A Terrible Person For Being His Fan. Like yo its funny how bigger villains who do bigger evil things like i dunno maybe ALL THE CANONICAL MURDER THAT AXEL COMITTED BEFORE GETTING REDEEMED can get easier forgiveness for it just cos theyre pretty and not pathetic. I love axel as much as everyone else but ive gotta agree that it sucks that vexen is more hated just for being mildly shrill than this dude is for burning him alive while he begged for mercy >_> And charon is more hated for wanting to be rich and not succeeding at completing even one single evil plan, than cyrus is for wanting to destroy the entire world and succeeding in very many bad things before you manage to stop him. Again, i fuckin love cyrus and i absolutely agree that he has sympathetic motives and is possible to redeem, i just get frustrated that because he’s more.. i gues.. mainstream likeable? that he gets more easily forgiven for bigger stuff. and the same people turn around and say charon is a terrible character who shouldnt have been there and he’s somehow more evil for committing less crimes but in a less serious way.
