I'm rewatching the good place for a school club and just. Tahani and Kamilah. Their dynamic is so tragic to me.

Tahani: I just want someone to love me.

Kamilah: I've never felt more alone than in a room with my family.

Like they're each scrambling to cope with the fact that love is conditional(from what their parents taught them) and I just.... ugh. Season 1 Flashback with the auction makes my heart hurt. Because rewatching it's so clear how wounded Tahani is as a person that you realize all the things that make her dislikable upon first watch are just coping strategies and she can be happy and can grow, she just wasn't allowed.

Also the way Micheal fucks with her over and over again with both holding back affection, pretending to connect with Jason to alienate her, and the blaming her for everything that goes wrong just... no words. Brilliant writing.
