IT TOOK ABOUT TEN MINUTES INTO THE DAY FOR MILA TO REALISE THAT SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT.
It was not a crime or wake up to an empty bed, even if she had spent the night cuddled up against Jake’s chest, since the urge to use the bathroom could strike any time. That was easily forgivable. But the really odd things started happening once she left the comfort of her bed and wandered into the kitchen, where everyone was gathered for the usual morning routine of a group breakfast.
She was surprised, however, to find that the kitchen was absolutely empty, save for a note left on the kitchen top in Jay’s handwriting.
We decided to go to the company for some extra practice but i made some breakfast for you so make sure to get something to eat <3
They left? Mila tore her eyes away from the paper, instead searching the silent dorm. Placing the note back on the bench, she visited the doors of each of the boys’ rooms, knocking on the door. No response. She frowned as she checked her phone, only to find that there were was not a single text sent to her by on of the boyfriends. They must be busy…
Mila shrugged as she sat before the delicious plate of French toast prepared by Jay. She wanted to take a break before her scheduled in the afternoon, but the others were working hard. Kiara had a scheduled solo photoshoot so she was also out of the dorm today, leaving Mila alone in their home. She hummed in delight as she ate a piece of toast, using her free hand to send a text to the group chat.
You: I just woke up hope everyone slept well 🩷
You: and thank you Jay-oppa for the food 😘
Mila shut her phone off. Staring at the fridge across from her, she began to think. Since she was free this morning, she might as well do something nice for her group members. Maybe I should make a cake!
Mila nodded. That was a good idea. And so, she did exactly that— after cleaning up the mess left behind by the others before they went to the company building, she found herself sitting in front of the oven as she watched the chocolate cake inside begin to rise. She looked down at her phone.
It was a few hours since she had sent her initial text, and she still hadn’t received a reply. She didn’t mind if they were busy, but she hoped they weren’t working too hard… The last thing she wanted was for one of them to collapse from exhaustion.
Mila jolted form her thoughts when the timer of the oven went off, signalling that the cake was ready. She smiled she pulled it out of the oven with her mitt, leaving it on the bench for cooling. A quick sniff of the air instantly made her mouth water form the sweet scent. She just knew the others were going to love this.
Opening her cameras, she snapped a quick picture of her creation to send into the group chat.
You: make sure to get lots of rest, okay? i have a cake waiting for you at home ❤️
Maybe that would help raise their spirits, she thought.
Mila was humming happily as she strung on her bag in preparation to go to her next schedule, until she saw a new notification pop up on Weverse. And all of a sudden, she didn’t feel so good anymore. Because she was so sure that her boyfriends were busy, and that was the reason why they hadn’t been responding to her texts all morning—only to see that they had made a new post on Weverse for their fans to see.
It was this moment where she started to wonder if something had happened, if she had done something wrong. Because if they had time to post something on Weverse, surely that meant they had time to respond to her texts, right? Even if it was a single emoji, to let her know that they had seen her messages, she would take it. But….
Mila shook her head. Maybe they just didn’t read all her messages yet—understandable, considering she did send quite a lot of them. She would give it some time and see if they would respond later.
But they didn’t. And it ate away at Mila for the rest of the day, until she had time to call her number one confidant about her—her one and only unnie, Kiara.
“So they haven’t responded to even a single text of yours?” Kiara asked with furrowed eyebrows, a finger on her chin. The two were currently in the TXT dorms, the members of the group watching from the kitchen as Mila and Kiara spoke. “They’ve been responding to mine, though…”
Mila swallowed the lump in her throat, her eyes stinging. “Oh…” She lowered her head. She felt sick to the stomach, feeling as if she might lose all the lunch she had eaten not long ago. If they were responding to Kiara’s text and not hers, then wouldn’t that mean that they were…. ignoring her? But why? Did she do something wrong? “I must have upset them for some reason, then, right? They wouldn’t ignore me for no reason…”
“Hey, hey, don’t jump to any conclusions.” Soobin slid onto the couch next to Mila offering her a box of tissues and helping her blow her nose. “We don’t know that they’re ignoring you.”
Mila looked at him in doubt. “Unnie literally just confirmed that they were responding to her texts and not mine. How is that no ignoring me?”
“Wait, he might be right,” Huening Kai spoke up. “Have you looked at the date?”
Mila furrowed her eyebrows. She opened her phone to check it, only to frown even further. April the first? It took a few seconds before everything clicked into place. She jumped up from her seat on the couch, the box of tissues falling to the floor. “It’s April Fools Day!” she exclaimed, in a mixture of horror, realisation, and disgust. She brought her hands to her hair. “And I’ve been fooled! Ugh! I can’t believe I almost cried because of a prank!”
Mila face palmed, causing Kiara to shush her. “Hey, don’t say that. It still would feel bad even if it wasn’t a prank. I know I would feel sad if Yeonjunie-oppa ignored me.”
“Which I’ve never done,” Yeonjun suddenly spoke up from the kitchen bench, earning unimpressed looks from both girls. “Just saying…”
Mila sighed. “Congrats, oppa. You’ve won the best boyfriend of the year award. Mine are no loner in the running.” Yeonjun had a look as if he wasn’t sure whether to be happy or not. But Mila wasn’t looking his way. She narrrowed her eyes at her phone instead, plotting what to do with her newfound information. Since they wanted to prank her so badly, maybe she should let them have their fun…
She huffed as she sent one last text, before muting their chat. If that was what they wanted to do, then fine; she could give them the same courtesy. She turned to the TXT boys. “Do you want cake?”
“I can’t do this anymore!”
Jaaeyun flopped dramatically against the floor of the practice room, clutching his hand to his chest after reading the latest text from Mila. Riki shot him an unimpressed look from beside him, raising an eyebrow as he slapped the older’s thigh. “This was your idea, you can’t be the first one to fold.”
The said idea that Riki mentioned was, in fact, a prank that the boys all agreed on, considering it was April the first—also known widely as April Fool’s Day. Jaeyun had been the one to suggest that they all pretend to ignore their girlfriend, at least until they saw each other later one tonight, when she would be back home from her schedules, and they would be finished with theirs. But all it took was the endearing messages from her as she spammed them with pictures of the cake she was baking for them and random little updates during the day, and it felt like torture to continue the charade any longer.
“Just look at her!” Jaeyun said with a groan, as he showed them the selfie Mila took, with her fluffy smile after decorating the cake she was so excited to have them try. “Ugh… I can’t. I have to text back. My heart hurts.”
Heeseung sighed as he stared at the photo, his fingers subconsciously reaching to pinch her cheeks through the phone. Why did he agree to this in the first place? Everyone knew he had the worst case of cuteness aggression and clinical clinginess towards his girlfriend, and he wasn’t even interested in proving otherwise. He should have just turned down the idea the moment it was proposed. And yet…
“Drop out if you want, man,” Sunghoon said, “No one’s stopping you.”
But of course, Jaeyun couldn’t. “Shut up. You’re just saying that because you want to spend more time with her.”
Sunghoon laughed.
They had childishly agreed that whoever could last the longest would have the reserved cuddle sessions of everyone else to themselves for the next three days (they tried bargaining six, but some members—as in Sunghoon and Jungwon—were quick to refuse). It seemed like a great idea at the time, seeing as they were confident they could go at least a few hours with no contact. But they forgot to factor in the fact that they were incredibly down bad, for their equally down bad girlfriend.
“Now she’s saying she misses us,” Sunoo said as he read the most recent text, adding fuel to the flame. “‘I know you guys are busy, but let me know if you’re okay. I miss you lots, heart emoji, heart emoji.’”
Jake groaned, causing Jay to kick him slightly in the butt as he rolled over. “This is the worst day of my life.” He held up his hand as Sunoo went to read another text. “Don’t. I’m suffering enough as it is.”
Jungwon sighed, massaging his temples while shaking his head. He normally wouldn’t even entertain the idea, despite the so-called ‘prize’; Mila would definitely fold and given him extra cuddles if he acted cute, so he didn’t need to steal from the others. The only reason he agreed was because he had a feeling that Mila might have already planned to prank him anyway, so he might as well make the best of the opportunity to get her back and to get more cuddles in the same day.
He turned to look at the eldest, who was staring at his phone so intently that there may even be a hole drilling through it soon. At least he wasn’t the only one.
Only a few more hours, and they’d be able to put this behind them.
Or so they thought.
It was a few hours later when they arrived at their dorms to find that she was nowhere in sight. And it was then that they realised she was nowhere to be seen. All that was left of her was a note on the fridge saying, I won’t be home tonight, don’t look for me. The only thing that could describe the events that followed the discovery of the ominous note would be the gates of hell breaking loose on the dorms.
“She’s not picking up her phone,” Heeseung said panickedly, after calling her number for the fifth time.
“Or her texts,” Jungwon replied with a frown. Jaeyun and Jongseong turned up hopeless results as well, receiving not even a peep from Mila since the last text she sent, over an hour ago. It didn’t seem like anything was out of the ordinary; it was just a text letting them know that she had finished her schedule. So it only made their word even more that she had suddenly dropped off the grid with no warning other than the hastily written words on the sticky note.
“Wait!” Jongseong suddenly exclaimed. “Her manager just texted. Apparently, she dropped Mila off at the Tubatu dorms earlier on.”
The others heaved sighs of relief. “That scared me,” Sunoo said with a hand on her heart. “For a second I thought she was kidnapped and the perpetrator made her leave a note behind so we didn’t get suspicious.”
There was a moment of silence.
Riki side-eyed his hyung. “I think you just watch too many horror movies.”
Sunoo shrugged, before turning on his feet to go to the bathroom, seeing as the ordeal was sorted. It wasn’t unusual for Mila to visit the TXT dorms, considering her unnie was there a lot of the time, and it could get old being cooped up in the Enhypen dorms every day. They didn’t worry if she was with their seniors; they knew the TXT members would watch over her, if anything were to happen. They were just surprised that she didn’t seem to notice their prank on her.
“I thought she would be spamming our phones,” Riki said absently as he opened the fridge. “She usually catches on fast…”
Especially on April Fool’s Day, of all days. Mila was usually the type to figure out their odd behvaiour and call them out as soon as she noticed. The fact that they didn’t hear anything from her meant she probably was none the wiser. So maybe, they didn’t need to feel so bad about their little prank, after all…
Still, it didn’t make it any less disappointing for some of her boyfriends who wanted to bask in her affection as soon as they got home from a tiring day of practice. Sunghoon pouted as he flopped onto the couch, zoning out into the distance since Mila wasn’t here to occupy the empty space of his thoughts with her little rambles.
“Ugh, I could use some sugar right about now,” Jaeyun said as he opened the microwave. Mila’s final text had been to let them know she put it there for when they got home. But to his surprise, there was nothing there… except another note, which said: “‘I took the cake for the Tubatu-oppas?!””
His voice was utterly mortified as he turned the note, as if expecting a ‘Gotcha!’ to be written on the other side. But no. The cake was indeed gone, and it seemed she really had taken it for the TXT members, even though she said she explicitly made it for them.
“Naur way,” Jake said in disbelief. Heeseung looked over his shoulder and started to draw lines inside his mind in order to reach a conclusion.
Maybe she did know about their prank after all… He sighed as he called Kiara’s phone. As soon as she answered, he was greeted with what he could already see as an eyeroll on the other side of the phone.
“You finally called,” Kiara said. “Can you pick up your girlfriend? She’s completely insane.” Before Heeseung could ask what she meant, he heard Mila’s voice in the background saying something along the lines of, “No, I don’t wanna go home,” in her obviously drunken voice.
So yes, they might have pushed her a little too far this time…
Sunghoon and Jongseong weren’t sure what they were expecting to see when they got to the TXT dorms, but Mila crying on the couch while bundled up in a blanket burrito was somewhere near the bottom of the list of possibilities. The two friends shared a glance, which didn’t go unnoticed by Huening Kai, who had been the one to let them into the dorms in the first place. He rubbed the back of his neck while they watched Beomgyu try to entertain Mila like she was some child, only to be smacked on the back of the head by Kiara.
“Your face is only making it worse,” the older female scolded.
Yeonjun (who was standing the furthest away from the scene as possible) noticed the two Enhypen members as soon as they walked into the room and looked at them as if they were his guardian angels sent from above. “Hey, you made it! Come here, come here…” Yeonjun called to Mila over her shoulder. “Your boyfriends are here now! Why don’t you head home?”
Kiara massaged her forehead with a perplexed sigh while Jongseong and Sunghoon were practically dragged by the older male towards their crying girlfriend. Soobin simply laughed, before excusing himself, since he had to leave for a schedule. Sunghoon and Jongseong bowed to the older as he left, the member simply wishing them luck dealing with the drunken Mila.
Mila sniffled as she glared up at them. “What are you doing here?”
Yeah, okay, they probably deserved that.
“Come on, Angel, we came to take you back home.”
Jongseong reached out slowly to take the blanket from Mila’s head, as if she were a puppy about to bite his hand off if he moved too suddenly. But before he could even graze the blanket with his fingers, Mila huffed and inched away, before lying herself down onto the couch so she looked like a caterpillar curling into a ball.
“I don’t want to.”
Sunghoon couldn’t see her face, but he definitely knew she was pouting. He would have usually found it adorable, but it was a little awkward when his noona and three seniors were watching him from the side with a slight sense of judgement for being unable to coax his own girlfriend into returning to their home with them. He cleared his throat, before shaking Mila’s lying figure.
“Come one, you’re going to bother noona and the hyungs,” he ushered gently. But he must have chosen the wrong words, because while Mila was shooting up in her seat—her eyes were watering and she hiccuped.
“Is that why you were ignoring me today?” she asked, her voice shaky. “Because I’m a bother?”
“No, no, no!” Jongseong immediately rushed in to save Sunghoon, who had frozen at the heartbroken look in Mila’s eyes, his chest constricting as if someone had crushed his heart in their palms. “That’s not it at all, Angel.”
Fuck, he thought. He should have never agreed to the prank. He was going to beat Jaeyun’s ass for managing to convince him—and then himself for ever letting himself be convinced in the first place. Jongseong clearly had the same idea, because he was instantly jumping on the first excuse that came to mind in order to save them from being target’s of their girlfriends (well-placed) disappointment.
“It was Jake’s idea!” Jongseong exclaimed. “He wanted to prank you since it’s April Fool’s Day—we tried to warn him, but he really wanted to do it… It was our fault for agreeing, but really, none of us were angry at you. It was just a really bad joke—We’re sorry, angel. Don’t be sad, okay? You can pay us back however you want?”
Mila sniffled. Her tears had been blinked away, but she still had that kicked puppy look on her face that made Sunghoon simultaneously want to wrap her up in a blanket and also run outside so he could scream to the skies. “Really?”
Jongseong and Sunghoon nodded a little too fast. Mila didn’t get to respond before Taehyun was walking into the room, smiling at the new arrivals. “Oh, you guys made it. Are you here to take Mila home?”
“No.” Jongseong almost fell over at the strong denial in Mila’s voice. “Since they ignored me all day, it’s only fair that I get to–” she hiccuped. “--to do the s-same…” She lay back down on the couch. “I’m staying here and I’m never going back.”
Good gracious, why did his girlfriend have to be so stubborn? Jongseong was on the verge of going gray because of today, and this was not helping. He sighed, not knowing what to do. Fortunately for him, Taehyun seemed to have an idea, because he was kneeling beside Mila, a gentle smile on his face.
“Hey, Mimi, want to see a trick?” Mila’s eyes brightened with curiosity as she looked at the TXT member. She nodded enthusiastically. “But if I show you, you have to agree to go back home with Sunghoon and Jongseong. Okay?”
Mila looked conflicted, before sighing and nodding. “Okay.” She then glared at Taehyun. “But it has to be a really good trick!”
Sunghoon and Jongseong exchanged looks as Taehyun nodded and patted Mila’s head gently. They didn’t want to be ungrateful, seeing as he was doing them a favour… But did it have to involve patting their girlfriend’s head? Unfortunately for them, that wasn’t the full extent of the “trick” that Taehyun had planned. Because before they could say anything, his hand had moved from the top of her head, to behind Mila’s ear, lingering there for a bit, before he pulled away to reveal a flower in his previously empty hand.
Mila gasped in wonder at the sight of the flower. “Wah! It’s so pretty!”
“Right?” Taehyung asked. He held it out to the younger female while smiling charmingly, causing alarm bells to ring in Sunghoon’s head. “Then make sure to take care of it properly, okay? At home.”
Mila nodded and reached out to grab the flower from his hand. But before he could, she was suddenly flipped upside down, thrown over Sunghoon’s should like a sack of potatoes—blanket burrito and all. “Okay, thanks, hyung! We’ll be going now.”
“Hey!” Mila kicked her legs around, but struggled since she was still wrapped in the blanket that constricted her movements. She looked at Kiara, who was watching with a flat expression while waving. “Unnie! I’m being kidnapped!”
“Sorry, Mimi, but it’s time you head home home now,” Kiara said with a wave. This prompted the others to do the same, watching with barely concealed amusement when Jongseong rushed to grab Mila’s things, before following Sunghoon out the door.
“My flower!” Mila called in protest, holding onto the door frame to stop Sunghoon from walking out with her.
“You can come back and get it tomorrow,” Taehyun suggested.
“Respectfully, but no!” Jongseong yelled in reply, before prying Mila’s hands away from the door frame. The door shut with a loud bang, and the sounds of Mila’s protests died out in the distance as they got further away.
“How do they have so much energy?” Yeonjun asked in amazement.
Beomgyu snickered. “It’s because they’re not old like you.”
By the time Mila was taken home, her boyfriends were all clamouring to her, explaining their side of the story (which, despite no negotiation, somehow all involved blaming Jaeyun for everything) while she sulked on the couch. It took a while, but in the end, they came to an agreement before Mila fully sobered.
“No more cuddles for you,” she said.
The boys shared looks, but agreed with reluctant sighs.
Well, that was pointless.
"Now can I have my flower?" Mila asked.
Sunghoon and Jongseong were subject to five confused gazes. "Flower?"
Oh boy. The dorm (and the world) wasn't ready for the mess that would come from the Enhypen members learning magic tricks to impress their girlfriend...

I hope everyone enjoyed the finale of @mrghostrat's Big Name Feelings Good Omens AU as much as I did. While ghostrat ended his story perfectly with a beautiful and realistic close to the part of their relationship we as an audience get to see, I had one more scene idea close to my heart and so I'm putting it out here because my heart still sings with love for this story and its characters.
These fanscenes now also appear on AO3. Along with the four I've already posted here (1, 2, 3, and 5), you can find a scene I kept off Tumblr ("Ch. 12"). You can read the final scene ("Ch. 17") below, but you can also find it on AO3, where it shows the text messages in graphical form.
Bilv, thank you once again for creating such an amazing story! I'm happy to say that my mind is no longer filled with your middle-aged men and their middle-aged-man problems. Instead, please enjoy these 3k words of pure fluff.

Crowley dumped his bag on the hotel room floor and did a lazy spin to take in the space. "Not bad, eh?"
"It's very posh," Newt agreed, setting his bag down more gingerly. "You're sure we can't pitch in for it?"
"I'm not dealing with you setting your phone on fire trying to do a transfer." Crowley waved the offer off and flopped onto the couch. The hotel suite had two small bedrooms plus a nice little sitting area that would be perfect for board games. It was set up to mainly accommodate a family with kids, albeit a family that could afford to splash on a multi-room suite for the family vacation to Spain. Crowley stretched out, shamelessly taking up the whole couch in a bid to ease the stiffness in his hips. "Tell ya what, if you're feeling guilty, you can buy my drinks tonight."
Anathema laughed and gave Crowley a poke in the side, looking quite satisfied at his jerk and yelp. "Knowing you, that will end up being a fair deal. And I'll take care of renting the wheelbarrow to cart you back here."
Crowley rubbed his side dourly. "Maybe I preferred you on the other side of the ocean."
Anathema grinned at him, unrepentant. "If you want to stay at my place while I'm here, I'll lend you my keys." She ducked a thrown pillow with a laugh.
—
The weather was perfect for sipping cocktails outside, and their mutual agreement to all try drinks they'd never had before helped keep the night from slipping away from them too quickly. Being able to chat without the artificial framing of a webcam was a delight, too, but all of them were too continuously connected to be interested in a strict phones-down policy.
Anathema rolled her eyes and took another sip of her drink before answering the text that had just popped up on her screen.
Aziraphale: Are you certain he doesn't know I'm nearby?
Anathema: I didn't tell him, Newt doesn't know, and he doesn't have a magical angel-detecting sense does he?
Aziraphale: I'm not so sure about that last point. Some of his last texts seem awfully pointed.
Anathema: You're being paranoid
Anathema slipped her phone away before leaning over to look at Crowley's phone screen, where he was lining up a very artistic shot of his drink, showcasing as much of the swanky beachfront seating area as possible. She blinked at him slowly. "Have you been sending Aziraphale 'wish you were here' texts?"
Crowley glanced at her sideways, his thumb paused over the shutter button. "Maybe."
Anathema sighed and rubbed her forehead. "Are you an adult who can handle a vacation with friends or are you going to pine after your boyfriend all night?"
"I'm here, aren't I? It's not like we're tied together at the hip."
Anathema shook her head in fond exasperation. "Getting these printed on postcards for him would be funnier than this text spam." Crowley barked out a laugh and sent Aziraphale his next promise to take him here sometime anyway.
Anathema pulled out her phone again, tapping out a quick message.
Anathema: He says he's a full-grown adult who can handle being away from you.
There was a pause before Aziraphale responded to her — probably due to dealing with a barrage of messages from Crowley.
Aziraphale: A very convincing claim.
Anathema looked up as Crowley put his phone away. "All done?"
"Yeah, he's taking an early night." Crowley took a languid sip from his drink.
"How have his workshops been going?" Newt asked, fiddling with a vibrant russet cocktail in a type of glass he couldn't name.
"Good!" Crowley's eyes lit up with excitement, his cheeks pink. "We polished his presentation before he left—"
"I heard about that!" Newt cut in. "He said it was more like beta-testing than beta-reading."
Crowley snorted. "If you want to see what happens when someone goes against the script, I'm your guy."
"The reception's been okay?" Anathema asked. "I know getting audience participation at workshops can be pulling teeth."
"Nahhh, it's different in the library world. Those weirdos actually care about their jobs."
"So do I, but it would be pulling teeth to get me to do a 'group active learning exercise.'"
"Fair." Crowley grinned. "They know how to talk like humans, then. And they really are interested in anyone with tips on how to break into digital spaces in an authentic way."
Newt hummed thoughtfully. "He's really okay with talking about his online presence at work like that? I'd be way too embarrassed."
"Nah, you stop caring about that stuff when you get older."
Anathema snorted. "I'm still saying it's pure luck you didn't chase him offline again with that con nonsense."
"Pfffft." Crowley made a sound that was all plosives and no vowels. "Never even close."
"Right," Anathema replied with tasteful sarcasm.
Crowley cut her teasing short by slapping a yellow canvas pouch down on the table. "C'mon. Let's play a game!"
"Oh, Bananagrams!" Anathema accepted the diversion and unzipped the banana-shaped bag, pouring the Scrabble tiles out between them. She deftly started flipping them letter side down. "I don't think Newt's played?"
Crowley nodded and waggled his fingers at the pile of tiles. "Rules are easy: Everyone's building their own board-free Scrabble grid. You start with 21 tiles. Say 'peel' when you've used yours up to make everyone take another tile from the stock. Say 'dump' to trade one of your tiles for three from the stock. The first person to say 'peel' without enough tiles left for everyone to take one wins. Simple, right?"
Newt nodded slowly, watching as Anathema divided the tiles out neatly. "So they're putting Scrabble in bananas these days."
—
Aziraphale: Is he up yet?
Crowley gestured Anathema towards the table where their phones sat in a cuddly pile of charging pads and wires. "You got a message while you were in the shower. From Aziraphale?"
Anathema kept her face carefully schooled as she sauntered over and picked up her phone, using the need to adjust her towel turban as an excuse for not making eye contact. "Mm." She picked it up and read the incriminating message, then snorted. "Bracing himself for when your wall of texts will start, I imagine."
"Nahhh, he loves it!" Crowley snagged the glasses cleaner out of his bag and sauntered into the bathroom. He'd be wearing them all day and he'd murder someone if he had to deal with the scummy film left by hotel soap.
"Whatever you say, lover boy." Anathema breathed a tired sigh.
Anathema: Yeah, and he saw this. We should be at the conservatory by 11
She should have just taken the phone into the bathroom with her, steam be damned.
—
The botanical conservatory was, frankly, gorgeous. The greenhouses were so large the ceilings weren't even noticeable, and the outdoor gardens were a riot of native plants. Crowley devoured the signs about plants he was unfamiliar with with gusto, and pointed out those he recognized with the enthusiasm of a man determined to prove he wasn't hungover. Newt listened with unfeigned interest, while Anathema wasn't shy about slowing them down to take photos of particularly artfully arranged displays.
They'd been there about half an hour when a patter of English broke through the background chatter of Spanish. "Could you spot me the entrance fee for the butterfly room?"
"Aziraphale!" Crowley immediately spun to his right, his whole face lighting up in delight before realizing that seeing him here was, in fact, quite odd. "What are you doing in Spain?"
"I left right after my last workshop. I thought it might make a nice surprise."
"It made the best surprise." Crowley pulled him into an ardent kiss that went on long enough for Anathema to cough something about public displays of affection. Crowley eventually relented on the kiss, as much for the sake of their breathing as anything else, but kept his arm slung firmly around Aziraphale's shoulders. "You're a bit of a bastard, you know that? I could've been looking forward to this the whole time."
"Only as much of a bastard as you deserve," Aziraphale teased right back with easy familiarity. His heart kept pounding hard anyway.
"Heh. What a way to butter me up while you're angling for a free ticket." Crowley snuck another kiss onto Aziraphale's cheek. Aziraphale laughed as he slipped his arm through Crowley's, relishing the contact after their weeks apart.
The butterfly room, when they got in, was a riot of fluttering wings. The promise of iridescence was enough to get Crowley to remove his sunglasses, and a quiet compliment on his eyes from Aziraphale was enough to get him tucking them into his pocket instead of putting them right back on afterwards.
They left the butterfly room — with some careful mutual inspections to make sure no one was harboring a stowaway, involving perhaps a bit more care in running fingers through another's hair than was strictly necessary for the task — and emerged near the exit to the rose garden. Crowley's hand moved towards his sunglasses but Aziraphale put his hand on his arm. "Just a couple more minutes? There's something I want you to see first." Aziraphale glanced over at Anathema, who nodded slightly but otherwise kept her expression carefully uninterested.
Crowley looked between them and shrugged. "Not exactly subtle as far as hangover tests go, but a'ight." Aziraphale laughed breathlessly and kept a firm grip on his arm, drawing him deeper into the garden.
The rose garden featured small offshoots to the main path where groups could sit for a little while to rest. It wasn't until the third one that they came upon an alcove that was empty, and Aziraphale promptly pulled Crowley aside, Anathema holding out her hand to keep Newt just outside it with her.
"Crowley—" Aziraphale began, his breath catching in his throat as he caught Crowley's full attention. "I, ah. I actually came here because there was something I wanted to say."
Crowley's hand twitched reflexively towards his glasses again, but this time he kept it down himself, even as his heart started to pound. "...yeah?"
"Yeah," Aziraphale breathed out as he sank to one knee, reaching into his pocket. His fingers were trembling, and his smile was nervous but so very adoring. "If I ask you something, will you promise to laugh?"
"—huh?" Crowley blinked in confusion, then stared as Aziraphale opened a jewelry box to reveal a simple ring.
"Anthony J. Crowley, would you be my snouse?"
It took a few seconds for Crowley to register any of the words Aziraphale had just said, but then he barked out a laugh as the last one hit him. "Really? That's how you ask?"
"You don't like it?"
"I just... I thought if you did it, you'd do a whole speech for it. You even brought us out to a rose garden!"
"I'll be honest, I had one of those planned. I just... couldn't quite seem to bring it to mind." Aziraphale had no idea how he was managing to talk even as much as he was around the tightness in his throat. "You haven't answered my question, dear."
"Pfft..." Crowley closed both his hands around Aziraphale's. "Yes. Yes, of course I'll be your... your whatever. Forever and always."
"Thank goodness." Aziraphale half rose and was instead greeted by Crowley also kneeling, both of them moving together for a kiss that was slow and deliberate. Aziraphale could feel the pounding of his own pulse against the tight hold Crowley had on his hands, and he could tell how Crowley's heartrate had risen to match his by the way their kiss kept shifting for quick intakes of air. Aziraphale finally broke the contact only so he could gently extricate his hands from Crowley's. It took every scrap of concentration he could scrape together to find Crowley's left hand and slip the ring onto his finger. "...it fit okay?"
"Nggh," Crowley replied before pulling him into another kiss.
They might have stayed there all day if Anathema hadn't cleared her throat — snapping another quick photo as they looked up at her, flushed and frazzled. "We are still in public, I'm afraid."
"Yeah," Crowley breathed.
"Huh..." Aziraphale added, just as coherently.
Newt shook his head at the unlikely prospect of them getting up anytime soon, and looked over at Anathema instead. "How were you so prepared?"
Anathema flashed him a smile. "I knew this was coming. Aziraphale asked me to take the photos."
"Is that why you're here?"
"It was the other way around," Anathema replied. "Aziraphale realized he could arrange his schedule to join our trip partway, and we worked out how to take advantage of the situation."
"Bastard," Crowley muttered in response to nothing and everything, pressing tender kisses to Aziraphale's left ring finger like he could imprint a ring there with his lips. "Did you measure my finger while I slept?"
Aziraphale smiled as he watched him, his heartrate finally settling closer to normal under Crowley's reassuring touches. "It's scarcely my fault you're so easy to send to sleep, dearest."
"You're ridiculous. Adorable. Incorrigible."
"Are those all synonyms in your mind?" Aziraphale leaned in to steal another kiss.
Crowley laughed breathlessly at how easily they'd returned to comfortable teasing and carefully pushed himself up. He tugged his clothing straighter and tried to pretend he was put-together as he glanced at Anathema, who was grinning unabashedly at them. "I'll want those pics for... for everything. All of them."
Aziraphale put his hand on Crowley's arm for support as he straightened his own creaking knees. "I'm claiming Tumblr first, if you don't mind."
"Eh—" Crowley gave him his full attention again, not that it had strayed for more than a moment. "This will really get you notice, Angel."
"Good." Aziraphale took Crowley's hand and leaned in to kiss him. He rubbed his fingertip over the ring settled firmly onto a finger that had never borne one before. "Let them know who's claimed you."
Crowley snaked his arm around Aziraphale's neck, chasing down another kiss that went on long enough to have Anathema clucking behind them. "We're gonna get kicked out of the garden, Angel."
Aziraphale smiled against Crowley's lips. "Let them. The one we made is better."
—
Three bottles of wine sat open and mostly-drunk on the table, divided between four glasses that were using the remnants of the previous night's game of The Quiet Year as a coaster. ("We set it in an idyllic countryside and it all went downhill from there," Crowley had explained when Aziraphale came in and started examining the hand-drawn map. "I think the arrival of the dog was the real turning point to madness," Newt had chimed in. "It was doomed from the start," Anathema declared with a resigned sigh.) The red rings of wine stains could have added as much to the group narrative as anything they'd purposefully drawn.
"I came in like a wrecking ball~! I never hit so hard in love~!" Newt sang raucously, a broad grin on his face while Anathema laughed into her hand. Aziraphale tilted his head as he watched them, visibly processing the music.
"All the other kids with their pumped-up kicks, you better run—!" Anathema joined in as the tune jauntily transitioned to a new melody. Aziraphale's face froze into an expression of fond but intense confusion.
"Problem, Angel?" Crowley drawled, utterly amused as he watched the tableau.
"I'm fairly certain that isn't how those songs go. And isn't that polka?"
"Never heard of Weird Al? Bit bigger overseas, I s'pose." He gestured to Anathema's phone, which was supplying the impromptu karaoke party.
Aziraphale nodded, confusion dissolving and leaving just a hint of distaste in its place. "And a different generation, I suppose." He took another sip of his wine, a nice Syrah, as the melody shifted to a new and equally abrasive polka.
"I wear your granddad's clothes," the millennials continued singing, until one of them glanced at Aziraphale and started laughing and the other followed suit, wineglass held out in an attempt to insulate it from deep belly laughs. Crowley snagged it deftly and set it on the table, another drop of wine rolling down to stain the paper there. Aziraphale rolled his eyes, much more amused at their drunken good humor than offended.
Crowley patted Aziraphale's thigh. "Want to take the rest of that Syrah back to my room and leave the loverbirds to it?"
"It would still be rather noisy if we stayed here," Aziraphale replied with a tempting smile. "Why don't you come back to mine?"
Crowley leaned forward eagerly, only a fraction away from jumping up at the unexpected invitation. "Oh?"
"Well, the room may not wind up being quite as nice as the one you got, but I thought for our first night together as a formally promised couple..." Aziraphale's smile said everything.
"You're a genius." Crowley kissed his cheek and grabbed Aziraphale's hand to pull him up with him, then firmly refused to let it go despite the challenge of tucking a wine bottle under his arm while juggling a wine glass and his phone.
Aziraphale laughed. "We can take two trips, since you'll want your bag. Did you leave it packed?"
"Like always." Crowley grinned. "Not going to rib on me for that ever again, huh?"
"One occasion of convenience is not worth the wrinkles, my dear," Aziraphale responded with all the primness he could muster around a wide grin.
Crowley laughed and took the opportunity of Aziraphale opening the hotel room door to crowd closer and steal an eager kiss that was just as eagerly given. "You really managed to hold in that you'd gotten us a room all day?"
"I kept the trip secret from you too, didn't I?"
"Age will not wither," Crowley chuckled and nipped Aziraphale's ear. "C'mon, let's see that room. Coming back for pyjamas optional."
The two of them left the hotel suite hand-in-hand, with everything they truly needed already right there with them.

hey, i was wondering if you'd be able to write smth with Spencer in a relationship with someone with bpd? it's totally okay if you're not comfy with that, but I've just been suspecting i may have it, and ppl with bpd are always portrayed so negatively in relationships. it would be just rly nice to read ur take on how Spencer would handle that and just see some positive representation! (my mental health has also been shit so it would be p comforting lol) thank u 🫶
hi love 🫶 i don't know a ton about bpd, so i hope i did this justice! i researched the diagnosis and how healthy relationships help with regulation and in what ways they do (both accounts from experts and from those who are diagnosed). and i hope you feel better soon <3 it sucks when your mind fights against you.
PROMISES • S. REID X READER
reader has bpd (written by an author without, ideally will be comforting rather than hurtful. please let me know if it is offensive in any way); gn!reader; spencer has to break a small promise but makes others; talks of therapy; teasing; fluff; ~500 words
“Hey, sweetheart,” Spencer whispers into the phone, voice a little strained. “I’m really, really sorry, but I can’t make lunch today. We’re on the way to a case in Omaha. It’s a really bad one.”
Your heart sinks. “Oh.”
“You know I want to be there more than anything, right?” He’s shuffling papers in the background, and you know they’re in the middle of getting ready on the jet and that he’s still making time for you, but it still makes your mind race with worry and upset. “I’ve been looking forward to it all week. And I promise I’ll take you out as soon as we’re back.”
You frown, fiddling with the promise ring on your finger. “Will you still talk to me?”
Spencer chuckles. “I think I go insane when I go too long without hearing your voice. As long as you don’t mind calls when it’s two a.m. there, I’m calling before bed every night I have enough time.”
You sigh.
“I know, honey. When’s your next meeting with your therapist?”
“Tomorrow,” you mumble, gnawing on your lip.
“Well, you have permission to talk about how much I suck,” Spencer teases lightly. “As long as you know it’s not by choice that I’m being a bad boyfriend.”
“You’re not a bad boyfriend.”
“Yeah?” You can hear the smile in his voice.
“You’re the best boyfriend. You understand me.” He does. He’s looked into BPD extensively — he knows even more than you do, rattling off statistics, assumed causes and connections, coping methods, everything. He knows how to break you out of the spirals and to calm your impulsivities.
“You have other boyfriends?” Spencer sighs dramatically, and you laugh.
“Why would I have them? You’re more than enough.”
Spencer hums. “I am, aren’t I?”
You groan.
“I’m messing with you,” his voice is fond and soft. “I gotta hang up, everyone’s coming and we need all our focus on this case. Message me if you need anything. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t.”
“You don’t do anything,” you know you’re exaggerating, but it’s hard to stop the words.
“I do, just nothing out of our normal,” he’s nudging you gently, reminding you to think things through before acting impulsively. “I give you permission to watch our show without me if it’ll keep you entertained.”
You laugh. “Okay, okay. Fine. I’ll be good,” you draw it out.
Spencer snorts. “I love you.”
“I love you too, Spence.”
A beat.
“I’m not actually going to talk shit about you to my therapist, just so you know. I do talk about you though.”
And then you hang up.
He sends you a ‘???’ and a ‘I wanted to say something still.’ right after. When you tell him to say it, he sends a ‘Do what you need to feel regulated. I don’t take it to heart, you know I don’t.’
And he doesn’t. He’s so sweet, so achingly perfect, understanding of when your moods swing, or when you feel empty, or whenever anything changes and you can’t tell why.
And he always helps you down, kissing scars and tears and whispering praise as he gets you to feel right again.

Comments and messages welcome! Also if anyone wants to send a request for something small that I could write in a little bit of down time feel free! I’ll try to fit in what I can when I can.

After giving him some space you decided to leave the bedroom with Cherry following closely at your heels. Mae met you in the hallway. “He’s outside dear”., she whispered before heading off to her room. It still amazed you that she seems to always know what you’re thinking.
Just like she said you found Yoongi in the backyard sitting on bench near a very large maple tree. His shoulders were slumped over and he reached up wiping away a few tears. Cherry quickly ran over pawing at his leg begging to be picked up. Yoongi scooped up the small dog before looking up and finally noticing you standing there. Taking a deep breath you slowly walked over not wanting to startle him before taking a seat on the bench.
“I’m sorry Y/N, I don’t know what came over me. I can’t believe I just forced my first kiss on you. Can we please just pretend that never happened?”
You were honestly surprised that he spoke first, but the shake in his voice told you he was seconds from loosing it. You also noticed his skin was a deep red and his fingers trembled as he pet the dog in his lap.
“Yoongi you have no reason to be sorry. It’s okay to have feelings and emotions. And if you would’ve stayed I could’ve done this.”
Using your sudden burst of confidence you leaned over placing another kiss on his lips. “Y/N you don’t have to pretend to like me back. I don’t need a pity kiss from you. Besides you’re leaving in a couple days anyways so none of it matters.”, he sighed looking stunned.
“Um no I actually got the okay to stay here and continue to work so I’ll be here for a while as long as you and your grandmother will have me.”, you smiled. Subtly his lips curled into a small smile.
“Also that wasn’t a pity kiss and I do actually like you and would love to get to know you some more.”, you continued happily with the sudden shift in emotions. As much as you wanted to just pin him down and show him how much you liked him you knew something like that would probably make his head explode so you decided to go very very slowly.
Cherry gave his hand a few licks and you saw the biggest gummy smile making your heart swell.
The next morning you and Yoongi prepared a nice lunch to take over to Taehyung’s farm. You could tell he was extremely nervous about going there.
“Hey they are nice guys. They really do want to get to know you and be friends with you. I’ll be with you the whole time. I promise. And if it gets too much just let me know and we can leave.” He nodded in agreement as you made the walk up to the cafe.
Jin greeted the two of you with a huge smile before Taehyung came bounding out. He wrapped you both in big hugs and you made a mental note to let them know that Yoongi doesn’t do well with physical affection. The rest of the guys quickly trickled in taking a seat at one of the large tables.
You and Yoongi set out their lunches while Jin brought over some lemonades and a few strawberry coconut cookies for you and Yoongi to try.
The guys all tried their best to keep Yoongi a part of the conversation and really make him feel welcome. Surprisingly he seemed to enjoy himself, even making a joke that got quite a bit of laughter out of everyone. You could feel the confidence start to build in him and it made you smile. He really seemed to take a liking to Namjoon. It probably had something to do with the fact that Namjoon was a little calmer and more soft spoken than the rest of the guys.
You were just starting to clean up when the front bell rang signally a new customer had arrived. Everyone turned to look which was closely followed by gasps and soft groans. You didn’t noticed anything odd. It was just a woman about your age, but the way the tension filled the air told you something was off.
Looking next to you Yoongi was staring down at his hands that were positioned on his lap. He whispered so quietly you almost didn’t hear it, “Y/N can we please go home?”
“Yeah of course.”, you nodded not wanting to push him past his limit.
As you stood up the woman came walking over. The tall blonde excitedly exclaimed, “Oh hey guys! How are you? It’s been a while.”
Hobi cleared his throat, “Yep sure has Jae.” The rest of the guys remained silent except for Jin who was now standing behind the counter. “You can order over here.”, he motioned.
The woman began to walk over when she stopped in her tracks turning her attention towards Yoongi. Subtly his shoulders tensed up.
“Oh my God, Yoongi?! Min Yoongi? Is that you? I’m surprised you managed to leave your cave.”, she squeaked. Her voice sounding like nails on a chalkboard.
“Jae you can order over there with Jin. We’ll have it right out to you.”, Taehyung spoke up.
“Oh I will but I want to catch up with Yoongi here. I mean it’s been a long time. Since high school right?” Taehyung made another motion for her to walk away, but she ignored it and instead turned her sights on you.
“Yoongi has a girlfriend? No fucking way! You ended up being less of a weirdo than I thought you would Yoongles.”
The more she spoke the more you wanted to walk over and punch her perfectly straight teeth right out of her mouth.
“Jae that’s enough. Order or leave, now.”, Jungkook growled surprising you with his anger.
“Alright alright, I’m just gonna leave. This is why I rarely come back to this dump of a town anyways. I had heard this was a nice cafe, but if it associates with you people then it can’t be all that great.”
She began to walk out the door when you heard Yoongi sniffle next to you which set you off. Slamming your hands down on the table you stormed out of the cafe chasing after the woman.
“Excuse me, who the fuck are you? And why do you think you’re allowed to come treat people like that?”, you shouted inches from her face.
She laughed at you, “Oh not only are you his little girlfriend you’re also his watchdog too? I never took him as the type to go after strong willed and dominating girls, but then again he did try to go out with me once so I guess it makes sense.”
Her words hit you as you recalled Mae’s story about the dance. “ Oh you’re that girl who asked him to go to the dance, but instead played a mean prank on him. You’re repulsive and a terrible person.”, you spat slowly backing away in disgust.
“Oh please. That was like fifteen years ago and he’s clearly still not over it. He needs to grow up and move on. Maybe get some therapy or something.”
You scoffed, “He’s perfectly fine the way he is. Especially considering how awful he’s been treated for doing nothing but existing. I hope you receive the karma you deserve.”
It was her turn to scoff, “Listen I know you’re new here so you don’t really know Yoongi that well so I’m gonna give you some advice. Run. Run as far away from him as you can. He’s damaged goods. Broken. Weird. Fucked up. Whatever you want to call it. We tried to be nice to him back then. He’d run in terror whenever we got within five feet of him or he’d just glare at us. You’ll never have a normal relationship with him. He’ll never be able to fully love you so do yourself a favor and leave.”
You watched as she got in her expensive vehicle and sped off. Footsteps quickly ran up behind you before a hand grabbed onto yours. Spinning around you were met with Yoongi. His cheeks red as tears spilled from his eyes. “Please Y/N, can we go home?”, he begged barely able to speak. “Of course, let’s go.”, you nodded gently taking his hand. Running inside to grab your things you were overjoyed when Taehyung offered to drive you guys back to the inn. You took the middle seat in his truck making sure to help Yoongi in after you and cracking the wind into get him some air.
When you arrived at the Inn Yoongi quickly exited the truck and headed straight for the door. You gave Taehyung a quick thank you and goodbye and followed close behind. Thankfully Mae was nowhere to be found as you really weren’t in the mood to have to explain everything that had just happened.
Quietly you tiptoed down to Yoongi’s room before gently pushing open the door. He had already made himself comfortable under the covers.
You closed the door a little harsher than you had opened it so that he would know you were in the room with him and wouldn’t startle too much. You sat down on the bed and softly brushed some of the hair out of his eyes. His skin still warm and red.
“Are you okay?”, you asked barely above a whisper.
He nodded.
“I’m sorry that happened to you. You don’t deserve any of it and nothing she said is true.”
The room stayed silent except for the sound of Cherry’s nails hitting the hardwood from she were in the house.
“Maybe she is correct. I am broken and you should stay away. I’m not worth the trouble.”, he cried.
It took everything in you not to run and hunt that woman down.
“No Yoongi, you’re not broken. You are perfect the way you are and I’m willing to do what it takes to get you to see that.”, you replied wiping away the tears.
Wanting to give him some space you stood up and turned to face the door before feeling a hand grab your wrist.
“Please s-stay with me.”, he barely managed to get out.
Nodding you laid on top of the covers facing him watching as he slowly started nodding off as you continued to gently run your fingers through his hair.
You had no intention of falling asleep next to Yoongi, but here you were waking up several hours later. The light leaking through his dark curtains telling you that it was the following morning already.
Yoongi was still sleeping next to you. His lips opened to the slightest pout that made him look adorable. As gently and quietly as possible you got out of the bed and headed towards the kitchen making sure to close the door behind you.
Mae was already in the kitchen pouring herself a cup of coffee. “Ahh good morning Y/N. Looks like you and Yoongi had a fun night.”,
Instantly your eyes widened in panic, “Oh no no no, nothing like that happened. We just fell asleep I promise.”
“Relax dear. Jin stopped by to drop off some pastries and check on Yoongi. He told me everything. Besides, you and Yoongi are both adult. I don’t care what the two of you do as long as it’s not done in the kitchen.”, she laughed.
You let out an awkward chuckle unsure if she was being serious or not, but either way you didn’t want to find out.
“Here Y/N, try one of these muffins Jin dropped off. They are delicious!”, she exclaimed sliding one over to you.
Happily you took a bite and had to agree that they were incredible.
After a new bites and some silence Mae spoke, “I want to thank you Y/N, for standing up for Yoongi. No one has ever done that for him.”
“Oh it’s no problem at all. I’ve never been so angry before. I hate seeing people get treated like that.”
She nodded in agreement before packing up some of her belongings.
“Y/N sorry to run, but I’m gonna try and head out a little early today so that I can leave before Yoongi wakes up. I have an important doctors appointment and I just don’t want him to have that added stress after everything that happened.”
You agreed and helped her out to the car before heading back inside. You cleaned up your dishes and then decided to get some work done. The novel was coming along better than you had hoped and your boss was very happy with the progress, even making a joke that you should just move and live at the inn full time so you could keep churning out work like that. You knew it was a joke but a small part of you was really wondering if you could make that work.
A couple hours later you heard Cherry excitedly running through the inn which meant that Yoongi was awake so you made your way to the kitchen. He was sat at the table nibbling on a muffin. His hair was still ruffled and his eyes were surrounded by dark circles. He clearly didn’t slept as good as you thought he did.
“Good morning Y/N, do you know where my grandmother is by chance?”, he asked.
“Umm yeah she said she had to run into town for a few things. Should be back soon.”, you tried your best to lie.
“Oh I wonder why she didn’t ask me to go with her.”, he pouted.
“Any plans today?”, you asked trying to change the subject while handing him a cup of coffee.
He shrugged his shoulders, “Maybe work in the garden a little.”
“That sounds nice. Do you care if I help?”
He shook his head so you quickly went off to change into some clothes that you wouldn’t mind getting dirty.
The two of you walked out to the garden with some tools in hand. Yoongi showed you how to pull some of the weeds and how to check if the produce was ripe or not. The way he so delicately touched everything kept you in awe. You were so mesmerized that in your daze you weren’t paying attention and instead of snipping the dead leaf off of the bush you were working on you missed and made a small cut on your thumb. Dropping the small garden shears and hissing out in pain you panicked as you saw the red liquid immediately start to pour from the wound. Not wanting to worry Yoongi you tried to discreetly look for a towel or rag, but it was too late and he and already noticed.
“Y/N are you okay? Come here.”, he said grabbing your non bleeding hand and pulling you into the kitchen. He took out the same first aid kit from under the sink and began cleaning and bandaging the wound.
You couldn’t help, but smile as you watched him work. His fingers softly brushed over your hand as he maneuvered the bandage and cleaned up.
“There!, good as new.”, he smiled.
When he looked up to meet your gaze you quickly leaned in an placed a soft kiss to his lips and then braced for him to up and run away, but to your shock he stayed.
“What was that for?”, he asked in a soft whisper.
You shrugged, “A thank you for taking care of me because I’m a klutz that was too busy admiring my cute gardening partner instead of paying attention to what I was doing.”
“Oh okay.”, he nodded and you’d be lying if you’d say that didn’t hurt a little until you saw a faint flush form on his cheeks.
Then he leaned in and placed another kiss to your lips, this one a little firmer and more confident.
“What was that for?”, you asked.
“A you’re welcome and because I think you’re cute too.”, he shyly smiled.
You started to lean in for an another kiss, but were stopped when the front door of the inn slammed open startling both of you.
“Hello, Yoongi?” Are you here?,” someone shouted.
“I’m sorry. I have to go check on that.”, Yoongi sighed, but you nodded in agreement.
He walked out to the front desk area to greet the guest so you finished cleaning up before hearing footsteps behind you.
When you turned around you weren’t expecting to find a very disheveled and upset Yoongi.
“Yoongi what’s wrong? What happened?”, you asked running over.
“We need to go…I need to go…It’s…She’s…”
Reaching for his arm you tried to soothe him, “Yoongi what’s wrong? I’ll help you. Just take a deep breath.”
“My grandmother is in the hospital. She had a heart attack while in town. I need to go see her.”
You nodded, “Okay let’s go.”
Thankfully the man that had came to tell Yoongi the news offered to drive you both to the hospital.
The two of you sat in the waiting room. Yoongi’s leg nervously bounced next to you as you grabbed his hand to reassure him you were there. You knew that things weren’t looking good, but you could only hope that his grandmother was going to be okay. You didn’t think his heart could take any more.

sleepy brain wrote this post and i want to say so much more but i can't. i had a better message when i did my 10k bits message but that thing is long gone. the only way pearl knows about those bits is if she sees this
and to her community: i love y'all. y'all are lovely. thanks for helping make my shitty life a little brighter. the world may not be kind to me, but y'all are. thank y'all for that. y'all are so lovely
pearl, if you see this, sending all the love to you and your three cats. and yes. karn is the third cat

Whenever I get a particularly nasty message, I always check to see if they're following me first. Nine times out of ten, they're not. But they're also, unfortunately, the same people who feel entitled to send me multiple messages in a row, most of them heavily steeped in the language of moralization and purity.
Like whenever I talk about painkillers or pain management, I always get a handful of well-meaning people who are maybe new to my blog or are just young, asking me if I've tried diet/exercise/meditation, etc.
Sometimes I'll respond to them. Other times I'll just ignore them because I get those kinds of messages so often it's like white noise, and maybe part of me hopes if they stick around on my blog, they'll learn it through exposure via my incessant bitching.
When you see me responding to someone offering that kind of advice, it's either because I'm at my fucking limit or because I'm hoping it's a teachable moment and an otherwise seemingly nice person might unlearn some harmful biases.
The people who don't follow me are not interested in any kind of conversation on the subject. They do, however, feel the most qualified to tell me, someone they didn't know existed until one of my posts crossed their dash, how to manage my life, everything I'm doing wrong, and why I'm a bad person.
And for them, my disability is proof that I am a bad person because they view health as a moral issue.
If you're sick, it's because you don't exercise enough, don't eat the right foods, don't pray enough, don't do enough. They genuinely believe that if they say and do all the right things, like a Good Person, they'll never get sick.
It's their security blanket against the harsh reality that anyone is one bad day away from disability. One faulty gene, one bad infection, one bad accident away from a life-long diagnosis. And if they do get sick, it's a test. A challenge to be overcome with Willpower as they learn the True Meaning of Life.
It can never just be a simple fact of life that sickness happens. That disability exists without a moral reason.
And it's suffocating.
Day in, day out. Folks who don't know me from fucking Eve telling me I'm being punished. Not always as outright as that. They don't always use that word. But sometimes I appreciate it when they do because at least then they're being honest. They're not couching it in the softer language of leftist circles. Not hiding it behind concern.
Because the truth is, there are just as many folks who think they're liberal and enlightened who'd be happy if disabled people just stopped existing. They don't like thinking about us because it makes them think about themselves. About their own fragility and mortality, and they hate that. They hate that there's something they can't control with their thoughts and actions. That they can't moralize their way out of.
Honestly, it's a relief when people are just cunts about it because I can hit the block button, safe in the knowledge that they were never the kind of person who would see me as a person. But when it's some 20yo kid with their pronouns, orientation, and "ACAB" in their profile spouting the same kind of moralization, sometimes even with the language of eugenics, it feels like such a betrayal. Like a loss.
And perhaps if I wasn't multiply disabled, I'd have the energy to pull them back. To tell them why they're wrong and hope like hell they realize what they're doing is harmful. But then, if I wasn't disabled, they wouldn't be messaging me, so I wouldn't be dealing with it.
I wouldn't be expected to use my existence as a teachable moment to spoon-feed them compassion. But I am, and I do. When I can. Not always with the grace that's warranted. Not always with the thought and compassion I ought to. (And I don't; I acknowledge that. I'm prone to anger and off-the-cuff remarks that are hurtful too. Though I try to keep most of it to myself or save it for therapy.)
Basically, if you've made it this far through the TED talk, don't be fucking cunts to disabled people. Don't tell chronically ill people to try yoga. Don't moralize pain relief. Suffering is not noble.
You need to kill the cop and the priest in your head telling you otherwise.
And also if you're the nice people sending me nice messages. Thank you. It helps cushion all of *gestures* this.

Okay, I've wanted to say this for a while, but since I reblog your art from other blogs, I kept messing up with who I'm writing to
But literally, your art style is PHENOMENAL, because the way they're drawn, it's like, you're almost there with the characters, but then some part of the drawing reflects the fact that these comfort characters are just characters, so it's so... emotive, and just all-around awesome.
You've got no idea how gifted I think you are, and I think your art is such a NEED!!
Just... thank you for putting your art out there, and I hope you have a great day!
oh my god 🥹 i have no words
thank you my love 🫶🫶

You are a ray of sunshine in this world full of darkness and demons. Do not worry about the ones that screech at you. They're only jealous of you cause after all, only demons are made of negativity. It is your light that makes me smile.
I don't have the right words to express how happy this makes me, but the Tom Hanks gif is a good substitute

People who want you to shut up about vice versa better know I'll be under their beds with a knife 🔪. (kidding) (maybe not)
SFJKSGFKSGDJSGFJSKFG THAT'S VERY SWEET OF YOU ANON BUT THAT'S NOT NECESSARY
this is actually all part of my master plan because, see, if they want to buy my silence then they're gonna have to watch the show. if they do watch the show, then maybe they're gonna fall in love with it. if they fall in love with it, then maybe they're not gonna want me to shut up about it anymore. and even if they don't like it or if they still want me to shut up about it, im increasing the views of the show by making people watch it
EITHER WAY IT'S STILL A WIN FOR ME
