your eyes ♥︎

The eyes are the 'key to the soul', they say. We can read what someone is feeling just by a look in their eyes. They show us the world, it's beauty and yet at the same time they expose us to it or trick us.

Diving into all the details I tried to have with some sort of sense: the left eye (both opened and closed) belongs to Crowley, the upper lash representing his snake form from Eden, the lower lash not really having a role in this but it reminds me of the Shakespearian Crowley, so so be it. The right eye belongs to Aziraphale as you might know by now. Tried to choose an accurate shade for his eye color because I can't really tell what eyecolor is it (#/twins lol), the upper lash symbolises his wings, the angel form, whilist the lower lash once again doesn't have much meaning, however if we think about it, the black spikes can represent the temptations that he was succesfully tempted into by the demon, or all the questionings of the Greater Plan, the whole Heavenly System and all the small thoughts about his field that he tends to have.

Sorry for all the imperfections ! I'm self taught with various breaks - shorter and longer. I don't really have an artstyle, I draw the way my hands allow me to, ending up with things that I try to of course correct. But everything made by human can not be 100% perfect, right? Or is it just an simple excuse from my side.... anyway, I personally really enjoyed drawing this piece, took me few good hours even if it doesn't look like that. That little note about eyes - I love to sound smart (/hj bc i sometimes really do) and I love pouring out my thoughts about some things even if my opinion can not be right.... Being on the internet can give me the freedom of speaking out my heart the way I can't do in real life sorry.

I was drawing for years on paper, and post 10 year break i switched to Samsung tablet as well (Tab S6 lite; using Krita atm since it's free).

Most important things are that you pick the style you feel most comfortable with and to start simple,gradually making it more complex. If you make a massive project in your head and the results are not how you imagined you're gonna get dissapointed af because you will be your worst critic (i had a dozen projects who just got scrapped lol)

At the beginning you will probably need a lot of references and there's nothing wrong with that. Over time you will manage with smaller amount and in the end you wont need them at all.

If you feel like youre gonna burn out, take a break, do something else, relax, touch grass or something. If you stare at the project for hours on end you will end up looking at every single detail too critically.

And most importantly, have fun with it, and appreciate your own progress over time. Good luck ❤️

Watching DNE in ER has been a ride, especially since his relationship with Daisy made me go "Oh he's just like me! :)" and now it's just ...

He REALLY gave his EVERYTHING to the relationship and that hurts so much on a personal level. Good job

I'm really glad I managed to create a story that's had such an emotional impact on 90% of the people who have watched it in full. DNE is a character that is very significant to me.

I've gotten closer to my creative partner and literally met one of my best friends because of him. I've been talking about this conclusion for 9-8~ months with Harmie and I'm very glad all that work has paid off.

It's very difficult to create a concrete story and conclusion when you don't know what is going to happen next environment-wise. We did not have the slightest idea of what the next challenge would be, aka we didn't know what DNE or Daisy would be doing for each entry. It forced us to have our important details be able to be placed at several points of the camp. For example: DNE was originally supposed to die in entry 8! This was changed because of the progress we had made with Daisy and DNE's personal arcs, but even if certain things did not go as originally planned we improvised and created something I'm very proud of. And hey! If DNE is just like you maybe try to avoid a talking computer that's absolutely doomed to the narrative.

I like the premise and all the male ROs hooked me!specially Emil,his supposedly daring smile is so enchanting Ig, also it's not much you see an artist RO and that's quite exciting to look forward to so, I think I will go for him first then Selim, he is just my type anddd -the Sultan will be the last since I don't like that he is having a Harem and all but he is still interesting and his endings seem good enough ( I do like the idea of my son ruling over)so yup.

also on a not important point,I really like happily ever after kind of endings so I'm just asking to see if you will have one of those . if not then it's totally okay ,i will play it either way!

I am glad Emil is getting some love! He is a little shit (affectionately) and I love him for it. Him being an artist will come up throughout the game. For example at the beginning he has been sent to oversee a renovation/painting the walls of the harem, which is why he is allowed in there when usually only eunuchs are allowed inside. He will also get a 'paint me like your French girls' scene later in his route and if you get a high enough status later on, he paints a portrait of you so that later generations will know what you look like. He also canonically fills his sketchbooks with the MC when in love.

Selim is also a little shit, but he is a different kind. Emil hides his worse traits behind his smile while Selim is very honest about not being a good person and not wanting to be one. He very much has a bigger fish eats smaller fish kind of mentality. He only treats the people he cares about nicely (which the MC can become one of, though his route is a slowburn).

While Ahmad does have a harem, it is important to be noted that his route separates in two parts. One where you accept him having a harem and so he just continues doing his thing with you becoming the favourite and receiving the title of Haseki. Or... you can ask him to enter a monogamous relationship and by doing so break like half a dozen traditions and customs*. Which he will do because if you get to that point in his route, my man is fucking whipped. Everyone else will be really pissed at you both cause you just kind of fucked over the whole structure of the harem but like what can you do?

Keep in mind that the harem will not be officially shut down because it serves a practical purpose besides producing heirs. Most servants in the harem don't even meet the Sultan and mainly function as maids and all that cause someone needs to keep this place clean. They even get a salary for it! They are also often gifted to Viziers and Beys as tribute so they provide diplomatic benefits. The difference is that Ahmad won't be sleeping with any of them and basically cut all contacts, apart from his kid cause like that's his son and he lives in the harem so you need some contact. This is the equivalent of dismissing the Supreme Court in all but name for this world basically so he is already stirring enough shit.

Happily Ever Afters

Here is the thing. It largely depends on what your MC/you ultimately desire. Fairytale 'everyone is happy and singing' endings are not a thing, but you can definitely be happy.

The Zephyran Empire is brutal. The harem even more so. To some extent, you will have to always fear for your life and that of your loved ones because you never know when someone might decide to poison you. The higher up you climb the ranks, the more protection you are afforded, but no one is truly invincible. Not even the Sultan.

The endings that kind of approach happily ever after in the typical sense typically entail leaving the Zephyran Empire. But even then depending on how you leave, if you run away for example, you may live in constant fear of the Zephyran hounds tracking you down and tearing you apart. And some routes don't even give you the option of escaping.

That does not necessarily mean you can't be happy. You can for example romance your RO and then stay happily together for the rest of your lives, till death do you part. You can change the system in positive ways to make the lives of others better. You can have a very good quality of life. You can be a beloved public and historical figure. You can have kids and grow old with them.

You can be happy, but you can't ever be 100% safe. And if you are, that probably means your hands are stained with blood and that is something you will also have to carry with you.

TLDR: you can have happy endings, but not really happily ever afters. There will be some give or take, whether that is always having to look out for schemes or being forced to do immoral things for the safety of the ones you love.

I tried to explain it as best as I could, but do ask me for more clarifications if I did not explain it well enough.

Anniversary

Today marks the two year anniversary of my fic, A Prince of Dathomir. Not from when I posted, but from when I began writing.

It's funny, this used to be the anniversary between myself and my abusive partner. Today is the deadline for me to file court papers against him too.

Two years ago I got a silly little idea in my head. I planned out numerous chapters and storylines, and though I didn't have a solid idea for chapter length, formula and how I wanted to write it... I just started.

Two years, 110 chapters and 360 000 words later... here we are. I am in the process of using that momentum of my fic to also write a book alongside this as well as take art commissions and try to create an art shop.

Yet I still feel like I do nothing. Funny how that goes.

But I am grateful to APOD. To everyone who has read this monumental fic. To everyone who has left feedback. Especially to everyone that is still reading it. To those that created fan art! There was even a fanfic ...of my own fic!

I didn't expect it to get the positive response it has but... I'm thrilled. I only hope my secondary story will garner the same love.

Before APOD, I would start a project, a hobby, a story, and I would do it for a while, maybe even a few months... then I would stop. My motivation would dry up and I wouldn't continue.

So far with this story, it has not happened. I'm still going. It's increasingly hard lately, but I am still going. I want to keep going. Even when I get distracted and sad and upset.

Because I can read my own story and be like "Wow, I'm invested!"

That's never happened to me before.

So I guess what I am trying to say is, thank you. This is a special day for me.
