Fukuchi for the ask game please!

Fukuchi, sure!

Favorite thing about them: Causing Akutagawa to die for Atsushi I think he's a very well written villain!! He's sympathetic and likeable and his motivations are sincerely noble and understandable. His plan fell a little short, but that's just bsd for you ahah. I like how he poses real and relevant political questions, I dig any sort of political discussion. Overall, he's just a character I have lots of fun to reflect over and talk about, but that's primarly due to being a politics nerd pffttt.

Least favorite thing about them: I find some of the gags he gets into quite unpleasant, it's not for my taste personally.

Favorite line:

Self-explainatory. But like, something that actually has to do with Fukuchi...

It's just, I get the sentiment? Like, I get the feeling of being willing to do anything if it's to save even one single person.

brOTP: Sorry for being predictable, but highkey Fukuchi and sskk lol. Because Fukuchi seems to care about them /so much/. I find it a truly moving part of chapters 84-88, how Fukuchi doesn't want to fight even more than sskk themselves. He's genuinely sorry for them. He offers them heartfelt advices. He waits for them, he gives them time to regrup. He offers to spare one of them. Fukuchi has been a kinder mentor figure to Akutagawa in twenty minutes than Dazai has been in six years. He compliments Akutagawa and acknoweladges his value and spares him words of respect even after his death. I just,,, in a perfect world he would have loved them dearly, and be the first supporter of their union.

OTP: I REALLY like Fukuchi and Fukuzawa. Tragic yaoi FOR REAL. Very characters who aren't canonically gay but whose behavior just makes so much sense if you read them as gay. Also my other personal shipped them before they got popular. They just care about each other SO MUCH they didn't ever denied it and yet are forced to be on opposite sides... Ultimate star crossed lovers fr.

Random headcanon: I can't think of anything of a proper headcanon, but I feel like he's looked to Fukuzawa and Ranpo many times and intimately wished they could have created a family together. I feel like the chapter 83.3 cover (the one a little further below) is exactly what Fukuchi would have dreamed his life to be if the world was different.

Unpopular opinion: I'm glad he killed Akutagawa. Duh. I've said this so many times but the “I wish Akutagawa didn't die” is a sentiment I really can't share.

Song i associate with them: I can't believe I could actually think of something, but Knife by rerulili is perfect as the love triangle / katanas / dying in your gay lover's arms story.

So I posted two chapters on ao3 a while ago and then lost steam for continuing it until recently~

Basically I’m in love with the evil within games and wanted to do something inspired by both that and Dante’s inferno?? But knowledge of neither is necessary to read it!

Here’s an excerpt from the third chapter:

It could be any old terrace house Manchester. They all look the bloody same if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Or looking out for, more like. Steer clear of the Riley residence, the one on the corner with the perpetually broken second floor window and the flickering front entrance light. Like a fucking haunted house inside and out.

This isn’t the house after Dad had been put in hospital and Mum cleaned it up, got it looking like a home again. This isn’t the cosy, Christmas decorated place his family was slaughtered in. No, this is the house of horrors from his childhood.

It’s a dream. That’s the only way he could possibly be seeing this right now. He’s having nightmares again and he’ll spring up in bed panting any minute now. Maybe it’d be best to seek Soap out when he wakes. Soap always helps.

Except the man is already here beside him, latched onto his sleeve for dear life.

“Wake me up,” he orders, staring at the bleakness laid out in front of him. A light turns on from inside the house. Fuck. That.

“Should we go in?”

“Fuck no. Keep moving.” He yanks on Soap and gets resistance in return.

“Ach, wait a minute, LT, ye just said ye burned that house down. What’s that even mean? How is it here now then?”

“This is a dream.”

“Hate to break it to ye, but dinnae think we’re havin’ the same dream together.”

“Soap,” he warns because he can’t do this right now. He doesn’t know what to think. He doesn’t want to think at all. “Please.”

And there’s that look. The one powerful enough to pull his mind away from whatever fuckery is afoot for just a second. The look that says I’ll leave ye be for now, but we are talkin’ about this later.

They walk in heavy silence. The sky isn’t changing, the sun isn’t rising and that’s even more confirmation that this isn’t real. He just can’t fucking wake up. Why?

“Ghost,” Soap says quietly, coming to a halt.

Not possible. There’s the fucking house again. There’s the light flicking on from inside the kitchen window.

“I’ve finally lost the fuckin’ plot.”

He tugs Soap along, pointedly ignoring the monstrosity in his peripheral vision.

It can’t be two minutes later when the house pops back into view.

“We’re meant to go in there,” Soap says.

tsukasa is like practically silent. he's not really a dirty talker at all, but when he's really into it he'll start to kind of break his somewhat stoic exterior and get a little soft or whiny. he's chatty after sex tho.

I was really excited about the interstitial twitter stuff alskjf;kas so I was very excited to write that. I love playing with form, and I don't do it as often as I should. Also, that first audition sequence came into my brain basically wholecloth, and I couldn't do anything else until I finished it, and it was sooo much fun adding in little details

The scene that was hardest to write was probably the confession scene. I'm still not sure I got it quite right (they basically just monologue at each other lol) but it also has some of my favorite stuff about /love/ I've ever written, so I guess it's a wash

Head canons about the start of Marcus’s and Lieland’s relationship

markus and leiland are Attracted To Each Other and know that for, like, a while, but it takes them a little while to move into actual "i want to date this person" feelings!!

there's a lot of like.. maggie says "you think markus is hot" and leiland says "yes" and maggie says "markus thinks you're hot" and leiland says "yes" and maggie says "so you should ask him out" and leiland says "WHAT"

leiland is also, obviously, traumatized. last time he had feelings for someone it sucked. he knows that markus is not zaul'nazh, but there's also a part of him that whispers "what if"

maggie helps with that a lot!! she spends a lot of time talking to leiland and getting him to admit his feelings and accept them and get the courage to act on them

and i think markus totally understands that <3 he knows what leiland went through, so he leaves the ball in leiland's court and gives him the chance to make the first move!!

by the time leiland DOES make the first move, he's been holding onto his feelings for So Long that it's a very big first move. walks right up to markus, pulls his mask off, and suddenly they're fully making out in the hallway of the bloodkeep. maggie cheers.

their honeymoon phase lasts so long. they're incredibly touchy with each other. neither of them can believe they get to date the other so they kiss all the time <3 the others are very happy for them but they also get very tired of them. efink has never been gladder that she's stuck in the blood pool cavern.

7. Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you've ever written and why you're proud of it.

"He wants to stretch this moment into eternity, to will the sun to not come up and the birds to not sing and the earth to stop spinning on its axis. He wants to freeze time.

But time heeds no one. And certainly not a lovesick teenage boy."

A very tiny (cowardly) snippet but this sentence came to me while I was getting groceries (most of this fic came to me while I was getting groceries that day actually) and it hasn't left my mind since. There's just something about its cadence that I really like (I'm not good at cadence so if it happens I'm extra proud of it), and the imagery as well. The desperation of Wille knowing this is their final night together, there's not going to be anymore chances so he delays the inevitable as much as possible, begging the universe to give him one more hour, one more minute even. Truly one of my favorite sentences I've ever written.

13. What's the best writing advice you've ever come across?

Idk if it's necessarily the best, but I tend to be very wordy with my writing, I want to explain everything because I like giving the full picture, and I am very aware of the fact that sometimes it's too much and I lose power. So one thing I try to keep in mind (when editing) at least is that a) less is more, but b) you also have to have faith in the reader that they can fill in the gaps sometimes, especially when simply Describing Actions. (idk this feels like really basic advice but I try to keep it in mind when I have another endless sentence happening, or when a scene falls flat, it's usually because I'm using too many words)

20. Describe your perfect writing conditions

No tumblr (too much distraction), a clean room (which it never is), rain ticking against my window (so I have a good excuse to not go outside) and a cup of steaming hot tea next to me (that I hope I don't accidentally knock over, spilling tea all over my keyboard). And also, idk, some kind of body doubling actually is my main method in being productive. So ideally, on voice call with someone lol

favorite thing about them: the fact that he never gives up. He's way braver than he gives himself credit for, repeating senior year twice and multiple times choosing to fight while he didn't necessarily have to.

least favorite thing about them: that we haven't seen him interact with Wayne :((((

random headcanon: he believes that he owes Wayne his life and it's very important for him to repay his uncle for that, even though Wayne would never expect anything in return. Eddie takes Wayne on a roadtrip "back home" to the south as soon as he has the money to do that, and when Wayne gets old Eddie and Steve happily take him in to have him live with them.

unpopular opinion: I honestly don't like anything to do with rockstar!eddie. I honestly think that would be very bad for him and a quiet, somewhat regulated life (with the band as just a hobby) would make him way happier.

favorite thing about them: i really liked how he was a refuge for El back in s1

least favorite thing about them: i guess his character development. sounds a bit mean maybe but he started out as a sweetheart and an extremely loyal friend, and over the course of the story he developed into a mopey teenager who complained about everything and treated so many of his friends badly (yes i know, he's a traumatized teenager, but as a character he's just not that compelling to me, sorry)

favorite line: "I only have like $3.50, so it's hard."

brOTP: is it bad that i don't really have one?

OTP: sorry bylers but i don't have an OTP for mike :/ i don't really have strong opinions about him and will together tbh. i care way more about El's and Will's storylines than about Mike's love life if that makes sense

nOTP: i really, really don't like him with El. maybe their dynamic was kinda sweet in s1, but i wanna see el grow into her own person and learn to value friendship over relationships.

random headcanon: when Nancy comes out to her family and Ted the Reagan Supporter™ is being totally shitty about it, Mike is the one who fiercely comes to her defense and keeps standing up for her. Underneath their constant bickering, they love each other so much, and he will always have her back.

unpopular opinion: i don't think it's super unpopular but he is very much NOT the heart of the group, like Will said. That's either Will, Dustin or Lucas, but definitely not Mike, who is actually responsible for most of their fights

1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)

oh no.....i've recently been talking about how my writing style is all over the place right now, so right now i'll just recommend my most recent fic

i actually think this fic is pretty good in terms of not being too heavy-handed in characterization and setting (and also not leaning so much into purple prose lol)

3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?

hm, recently i've been using a lot of parentheticals (like more than one in a sentence) for emphasis which i think has ended up characterizing my writing style more than i initially thought it would lol

i also write self-doubting characters quite frequently, which (most of the time) leads into a lot of angst oops

37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?

hm this kuramiyu fic is the first song fic i wrote and it was one that i was pretty proud of. honestly i can't tell you how well it actually reads since i haven't read it in a while, but in comparison to all my other fics for this ship, i'm surprised those were more popular than this one

F: Share a snippet from one of your favourite dialogue scenes you've written and explain why you're proud of it.

This is definitely the hardest question. I think often times I really like the dialogue when I write it but when I try to think back, nothing really stands out for me except the latest thing I've written. And this time it's Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy where I really enjoyed writing the banter and flirting between Michael and Trevor. But I also like the moments where they're a bit more straight-forward like this. And I loved doing the Inception reference because it's still one of my fav movies. (I saw it again last weekend and I had to wolf down some Arthur/Eames fics the very same night.)

Q: How do you feel about collaborations?

Mixed feelings! I've tried them a few times with some very talented writers, but they haven't worked out in the long run. I guess it's been about the difference in writing habits: mostly, I think, it's me because I keep jumping between projects and it's hard for me to focus on one thing :'))) I think for me, roleplays are the best way to write together with someone because the division of who writes what and when is very clear.

L: How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

When I write, I keep reading back and editing all the time, so it's hard to say how many times it actually is (and this is why I'm so slowwwww). But after I've finished the plot, I read through the fic a couple of times and think if I should add something (emotions, descriptions etc.) and when I can't think of anything to add, I start my proofreading rounds where I often listen to the fic being read out loud by a screen reader. Here's where I mostly notice awkward sentence structures or word repetition. And usually I read it through once more after copy pasting it to Ao3 to notice any formatting errors (WHY DOES IT ADD EXTRA SPACES?!?!??!?!). So yeah, a lot of revising. :'D

it's super hard to get out of bed on days like this unless we actually have plans, but if it's just a lazy day we stay indoors, order food, and watch a movie or two together, or play a game on the switch cuddled on the couch

a lot of time is spent in casual conversation where we both drone on for hours from what is as mundane as 'do you think i should get this mole checked out?' to 'how sentient ARE trees?' to 'what would you do if x happened?'

i think to others it would be boring but for us it's super fun!!! we'd catch up on reading and hold hands and i'd fall asleep in his lap, it's so nice

Honestly, I'm not completely sure. I've seen some interesting fancomics and such of them meeting by coincidence or 18 finding him and thanking him, or of krillin finding 18 lost on what to do with her life and taking her in, and I honestly really really like all of the above.

personally, I like the last one... would be very nice... 18 is trying not to go back to what she would have been doing previous to cell's defeat, but has been so far removed from society that she doesn't feel she has a place anymore, and krillin wants to show her that everyone has a place in the world, and through that 18 falls in love with his kindness, and the entire time they're bonding and cultivating these feelings ...? hehe <3
