Several Sunlight Daylights: a week-long tribute to Hinny through the power of Taylor Swift. There is a new prompt everyday starting on Taylor's birthday! The title of this celebration is taken from the "several sunlit days" that Harry kissed Ginny, and the song Daylight by Taylor!
Tag your works with #SeveralSunlitDaylights and tag me @GinWiz to help share your work!
December 13: Red. The color of Ginny's hair and the title of one of Taylor's best albums. Be inspired by any of the songs off of Red the album or a lyric that includes the word "red."
December 14: Based off a Bridge. Taylor Civil Engineer Swift is a master of bridges. Create something based off of a bridge! Songs with some great bridges recommendations: Cruel Summer, Death By A Thousand Cuts, Daylight, Dress, King of My Heart, Champagne Problems, Out of the Woods, Getaway Car, Hits Different
December 15: Folklore/Evermore. In 2020, Taylor released two albums that were based off of fictional stories. Let the fictional world of a teenage love triangle, murder of an abusive husband, a wild neighbor, a broken engagement, and many other storylines inspire you.
December 16: Featuring. Taylor has recorded a variety of tracks with many famous artists from Kendrick Lamar to Phoebe Bridgers. Be inspired by a song with a feature (or a song she is featured in!) Bonus points if you feature a suprise character in your work as well.
December 17: In the middle of the night. A recurring theme in Taylor’s music is being haunted by things in the middle of the night, specifically 2 AM, and, most recently, Midnights. Be inspired by the album Midnights or a lyric about night time.
December 18: Lyric as dialogue. Use Taylor Swift lyrics as part of your dialogue. Some lyrics to be inspired by:
"I once believed love would be burning red, but its golden like daylight."
“You kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath”
"Back when I was living for the hope of it all"
“You taught me about your past, thinking your future was me”
“Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first”
“I don’t like that falling feels like flying, til the bone crush”
“I love you, ain’t that the worst thing you’ve ever heard?”
“I’m a mess, but the mess that you wanted”
“All these people think loves for show, but I would die for you in secret”
“Is this the end of all the endings?”
“For once you let go of your fears and your ghosts”
“One night he wakes, strange look on his face, pauses then says “You’re my best friend”
“Please don’t ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere”
December 19: Your favorite Taylor Swift song. Write a story based off of your personal favorite Taylor Swift song!
Thank you all to everyone who suggested prompts. I am so excited for this event to get started! Let me know if you have any questions.

Wing, teeth and (for the queen of dialogue) fire 💛💛
Thanks for asking sweetcheeks 💛
Wing: share a snippet that you daydreamed about before writing it (or a snippet that you were really looking forward to writing.)
The one that really comes to mind is the epilogue of The Hexley Saga. I knew exactly what I wanted from the epilogue from the moment I wrote the prologue, exactly 2 years ago today!
From my newer stuff, probably this scene, in which Artemis reacquires her burgundy notebook:
“Me? Not Bill? He’s your brother.”
“You’re my best friend,” said Charlie. “And they were yours to begin with. You were going to use one of them.” Artemis swallowed, her shoulders tensing, and Charlie immediately backtracked. “I get it if that’s too weird for you. You were going to use them with Rowan, and I’m not Rowan, I know. If it feels like you shouldn’t use them to write to someone else, it’s fine, I can give it to Bill. Or you can have both of them back to keep, if you like.”
He tried to keep the hope out of his face as Artemis fanned the blank pages in silence. Eventually, after what seemed like an age, she said:
“Will it make you feel less lonely, writing to me?”
“Yeah.” Charlie shrugged. “I never feel lonely when I’m with you.”
Teeth: share a snippet that was difficult for you to nail down/required a lot of revisions.
The whole of The Circle of Khanna was difficult to get right, and took a whole lot of work and research to get right. I think that all hinges on this chapter, which was the one I put off for the longest time.
My newer stuff hasn’t gone through much reworking yet, because most of the WIPs are at the first draft stage. The Hinny WIP has gone through some serious revisions, but you’ve already read that one!!!
Fire: share a snippet with some dialogue you’d like to show off.
This chapter from The Portrait of the Vault has some of my funniest dialogue ever. However, this snippet from the upcoming arc of Beginning of a Symphony also makes me very happy:
“Stop laughing, Ethel!”
“I cannot,” Ethel wheezed. “I cannot stop. Oh, Jimmy. I did not realise you held such strong feelings for Alan.”
“I can see for why you would,” said Selene. “He is a very fine ferret.”
“A beautiful ferret, or so I’ve heard it said.”
“Indeed, I believe I have heard that said, too.”
“Unfortunately, Jim, Alan shan’t be accompanying you to the ball. He prefers to form attachments with his own species. I’d strongly suggest that you do the same,” Ethel told him.

I just want to say that I love your work and the glimpses you give in to Hinny's post-war life is amazing. The love way they love each other is......I can't put it into words, but I'll never tire of reading about them being in love and telling each other how much they love them. The way you write them is fantastic and shows us why they're truly soulmates. The interactions between them in your stories stay true to their characters, and it feels like I'm reading an extension to the books. So, what I'm trying to say is, I really love your stories, and I'm glad that you decide to share them with us.
Thank you so much for taking the time to send this ask, it really really touched me ❤️
I love writing about them and I do tend to stick to canon most of the time but of course it's my own interpretation and do it to the best of my writing abilities so I'm glad when people enjoy my version of them.
really thank you, I woke up to this ask and it honestly made my day

I just realized that you left a kudos on one of my Hinny fics about a year ago (before I even knew who you were), and even though I realize it was probably just one of those "This was decent enough to finish!" kudos (since it was before you were posting a lot or doing rec lists), I still see it like a little badge of honor now since I love your writing so much. So thank you :)
Hi Anon! If I left a kudo, it was because I really liked your story! Thank you for writing and sharing it! ♥️
I certainly wasn’t thinking a year ago when I was a lurker that someday my specific kudo or comment or rec would mean anything special. I freak out when someone I admire likes something I’ve written, so I’m floored and touched that you think of me that way.
I also wasn’t thinking that one day people would try to distinguish my kudo from a comment from my rec lists. Please don’t think that my kudo means it was just decent. I can’t really say what leads me to do one or another since what resonates with me really is dependent on how I’m feeling that specific time and place. I’ve had stories I initially read that I liked, only to reread at another time and love, and vice versa.
I chronically overthink my rec lists and fear how people may interpret my recs (or lack of rec). There really are so many stories that I’ve read and really enjoyed but haven’t put on a list – but there are all sorts of possible reasons for that. Sometimes it’s because I didn’t remember the story (I’ve found some that I missed after posting a list). Sometimes it didn’t match my head-canon. Sometimes I just narrow it down because otherwise, I would list every story I’ve ever read. Sometimes it’s just that I haven’t posted a different list where I’ve categorized the story. I don’t want people to think because I haven’t included them in a rec list, it doesn’t mean I genuinely didn’t like or love or resonate with their story.
And regardless of my or anyone else’s opinion, the fact that you have written and shared your story is an incredible achievement. Never forget that. Please continue writing. I hope to read more of your work one day!

Hi, Bianca!
It's so lovely to see your incredible artwork back! It gives me such a happy feeling that I can't explain. I always smile when I see you've posted whether it's something new or a reblog of an old favourite. Whether it's Harry or Ginny or Jily or whatever it is that has inspired you that day. It's always beautiful and breathtaking which is why I follow you here, on Twitter, and on instagram in any hope of catching something new.
It amazes me how you can capture so much emotion with one to three short little blurbs like Harry and Ginny talking about James having detention and how you can see the amusement they share; an exchanged look and understanding that says so much about who they are, what they've shared together, and how much they love their children. Or that scene in the bath where Harry discusses the possibility of being less involved in a case and you can see the worry in Ginny and how she knows her husband well enough to know that's not true; how even Harry's body language is trying to reassure her, and yet she knows he will do his job and she will support him. It's amazingly detailed. Even the sexy ones, the way you share those intimate moments between Hinny or Jily, it's like you can feel that emotion in the moment. The love, the ecstasy, that connection between them -- it's truly wonderful.
The old art of Harry and Ron trying to figure things out as Aurors without Hermione makes me smile. The only person I've ever seen write Ron and Harry's friendship the way you draw it them is Seriously Sam. I love the bromance, the understanding, and the true friendship they share.
The way you show the next generation and the adorable little moments with Hinny as parents. I adore James wanting to be a rockstar and how he's too cool for his sister or Albus not liking his picture taken or Harry being enraptured by his daughter. All of them are just so precious. The one of Ginny with her "best men" made me tear up because I love Ginny having a close relationship with all of her brothers and you can't tell me she didn't want all of them up there with her in some way on her special day.
Sorry for rambling on, I just appreciate your talent so much and I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to share it. I hope you have a wonderful day and continue to be inspired and share with us.
~ Bree
I woke up and the first message I read is this one 😭 Thank you so much for appreciating my art and for these amazing words. I'm glad and speechless and it's just one of the best messages I've ever received about my fanart works. I really really appreciate it! ❤

For the Hinny Ficfest lovely organized by @clarensjoy, here’s the second drabble set during Christmas of Year 6, with Harry doing some good old pining.
70. "Mum thinks I'm dating you" (and Harry wishes she was right)
Ginny throws herself on the cnouch next to Harry, eyes closed. Harry tries not to show any reaction, though it’s hard — her presence comes with that intoxicating flowery scent and he can’t help but inhale deeply, even as he keeps his gaze forward. He doesn’t need to turn to her anyway — he’s been stealing glances in her direction all day, enjoying the contrast between her new dark green sweater and her flaming red hair, or the flush that came to the cream colour of her skin as she had worked on her broomstick all afternoon.
‘Mum thinks we are dating’, she announces, making him jump.
Harry turns to look at her now, surprise flashing upon his face.
‘W-what?’, he splutters, feeling his face reddening. Ginny is smirking, amused, though Harry doesn’t know if it is because of his reaction or because of her mother’s wrong idea.
Harry wishes Mrs. Weasley was correct on that assumption, but alas he is not the one who gets to say he is dating Ginny.
'Secretly dating, mind you. Very naughty of us'.
'I — we —', Harry stops, his brain frozen at the idea of dating Ginny and "naughty" in the same context. He forces himself to breath, which, with her perfume in the air, does nothing to help him clear his mind. 'How come?'
‘She saw your Christmas gift’, Ginny explains. Harry gulps, unsure.
‘I didn’t - I’m sorry if - I wasn’t -’
‘Harry’, Ginny interrupts him, smiling kinder now. ‘You did nothing wrong. I loved that Broomstick Servicing Kit, I truly needed one’.
Harry nods now; Ginny had already thanked him for that gift, beaming at him before breakfast, and Harry had felt relieved. He had spent hours thinking of what to give her for Christmas, not daring to ask for Ron or Hermione’s help, until he ended up choosing something that was not too intimate but also useful. Ginny loved Quidditch more than anyone he knew, so he had figured out she would like a gift about it.
‘It’s my fault’, she adds distractedly. ‘I kept talking to Dad about your gift and how it was my favourite, but I also had to defend Dean’s gift to Ron this morning, and somehow Mum thought that my boyfriend had give me this kit, so -’
‘So she thought I was your boyfriend’, Harry summarizes, forcing the grimace on his face to look more like a smile, as if he thinks the whole situation is just funny and not miserable.
Ginny shrugs. ‘It’s kind of my fault, I guess. I wasn’t exactly showing off the gift Dean gave me’.
‘What it was?’
She sighs. ‘A ring’.
He feels his mouth drying. ‘Ring? Like a -’
‘No, no engagement or a promise ring’, she adds hurriedly, with a panic on her face that somehow calms Harry. ‘Just a normal cute ring, but — it’s not really my thing. Jewels. Especially not rings, they make me feel —’
‘Constricted’, he guesses. Ginny raises one eyebrow. ‘Same as you don’t like to wear scarves or you always let the first button of your shirt open’.
There is a short silence. Harry suddenly feels embarrassed — maybe he said too much? (Maybe Ginny realized he has stared at her neckline too much?)— but after a while she just nods.
‘Yeah, well. I explained to Mum that you aren’t my boyfriend, but I’m not sure she believed me — she had this weird thought’.
‘What thought?’
‘That we’ve been together a lot’.
‘Well’, Harry starts, hoping to sound reasonable and not as if he needs to reinforce to Ginny all the reasons they would work together. ‘That’s true. More than before. We spent a lot of time together during summer’.
It’s not hard to remember all those afternoons he spent with Ginny alone in the orchards, flying with her, long after Ron and Hermione had retired back to the Burrow; or those early mornings when they went for a run that often than not would turn into a stroll as they just talked about anything on their minds.
Harry wishes he had known better then to truly appreciate those moments with Ginny — perhaps things could be different between them if only he wasn’t so oblivious…
‘We are friends’, Ginny notes. Harry sighs heavily, facing front again.
‘That’s us. Friends’.
‘Can you imagine how she would react if we were dating?’, asks Ginny, her voice inviting him to share the joke with him.
Harry knows what she is teasing about and he knows he should just laugh at the idea of how Mrs. Weasley would fuss at the idea of Harry dating her young daughter, or how she might treat them like Bill and Fleur and suddenly get worried about the idea of them spending time together alone.
But none of it looks bad. Mrs. Weasley’s happiness of them being together would be nothing like the happiness that Harry thinks he would feel if Ginny returned his feelings; he imagines holding hands with her during this winter break, ending their Quidditch discussions with a snogging session in the broom shed or meeting her for sharing a chocolate and a good night kiss in the kitchen.
And yet she looks at him now so friendly and teasingly that this dream seems very far away.
‘It wouldn’t be the worst thing’, he says, avoiding her eyes, and not saying what he really wants: he would endure anything, including Mrs. Weasley’s tearful happiness and limits and the twins’ jokes if only he got the chance of dating Ginny and all that comes with it.
Ginny stays silent, though, and Harry wonders if he said something wrong, or, worse, if she understood exactly what’s on his mind. She always had a knack for seeing through him —
But Ginny laughs after a moment. ‘It wouldn’t’, she agrees, her voice light, raising and patting him in the shoulder. ‘But you wouldn’t be that lucky’.
He is gone before he can answer her, but for once he doesn’t mind, thinking about what she said. Lucky — and he happens to have a lucky potion on his truck right now. Hum… maybe he only needs a little drop of luck...

Happy Hinny Day!!
This is my little contribution to the Hinny Ficfest, so kindly organised by wonderful @clarensjoy. I’ve used the prompt 75, "By the gods! You love her... don't you?", though I’ve changed it a little to fit the fic better. Hope the prompter doesn’t mind!
I was (and still am) very doubtful about posting this or not. The last part is dreadful (I might change it if I can think of something better), so is the title, and I don’t think it’s Hinny enough for such an important occasion. But Clare has been very kind organising this fest and I don’t want to miss the party.
I have always loved the fics where Harry talks about Ginny to someone else, so here’s a little conversation between him and Hermione before Bill and Fleur’s wedding. It might be off character but, well, it’s called fan fiction for something.
Again, English is not my first language, I hate prepositions and adverbs, and I can be a mess with verb tenses. So, if you find any mistake, I’d be grateful if you could let me know so that I can correct it.
Thanks again to Clare for having organised this fest. I can’t wait to have the time to enjoy each and every work submitted!!
It was four in the morning and his mind kept drifting tirelessly from Dumbledore’s will to Ginny’s lips.
Though, being honest, and despite knowing that he should be more focused on the Deluminator, the book and the Snitch as they had to be somehow important, the remembrance of having Ginny in his arms again was becoming much more predominant in his mind as the minutes went by.
As if her mere presence around wasn’t making it already hard for him to focus since the moment he had arrived at The Burrow. Just an anguished half an hour next to her and he almost surrendered and threw his arms around her, without worrying about who else was in the room, just like the first time. And then she took his hand when she knew he needed it, so naturally it hurt.
He knew he was pining. He had been pining since he stood up from his chair next to Ginny’s at Dumbledore’s funeral, after doing what he knew he had to do but hadn’t had the guts to do before. It had already been bad when he was in Privet Drive, and now he not only smelled flowers everywhere but still could feel her lips and her body against his.
With a quiet groan, Harry removed the sheet that had tangled around his legs from tossing and turning for hours, put his glasses on, took his wand, threw an envious look to peacefully-sleeping-Ron, and left the room. There would be no way to fall asleep if he couldn’t take Ginny out of his mind, if he couldn’t stop wondering whether the kiss they had shared that morning in her room was definitely going to be the last.
He tried to not make a sound when he descended the stairs to the kitchen, throwing a longing look at the closed door on the first floor landing as he passed by it, exited outside and took a seat at one of the back steps to the dark yard.
He had his eyes fixed on the flag on top of the marquee, trying to empty his mind and enjoy the silence and the cool summer breeze, when he got startled by the sound of the door opening behind him. For a second he equally wished and feared it was Ginny, but turned his head and saw it was Hermione in her pyjamas and a dressing gown.
‘So you couldn’t sleep either,’ she said, sitting beside him. ‘I heard footsteps on the stairs.’
‘No, I couldn’t,’ he was looking at the top of the marquee again and his reply sounded drier than he’d liked. He wasn’t annoyed by her presence, but had wanted to spend some time alone all the same. Harry wondered if she had expected to find someone else when she had left Ginny’s room after the footsteps she had heard.
They spent some minutes in silence before Hermione spoke.
‘It’s been quite an overwhelming day, has’t it? With your birthday, Scrimgeur’s visit and Dumbledore’s will... and what happened this morning with Ginny…’
Harry immediately took his wand and casted Muffliato around them.
‘Are you mental?’ he said, ‘You could be heard, her room is just above us.’
There was another moment of silence, and Harry hoped that the turn Hermione seemed to want the conversation to take was lost with it. But he should have known better, he should have distracted her and kept on talking about what Dumbledore wanted them to do with the objects he had left them.
‘I’m sorry,’ Hermione was talking quietly, looking at him, ‘wish I had been able to keep Ron away from Ginny’s room for longer.’
Harry changed his stare from the top of the tent to his knees and gave a tired, resigned sigh.
‘It was not your fault, I shouldn’t have entered there… but I don’t want to talk about that.’
But Hermione completely disregarded.
‘Well, from what Ron has told me and the little I saw when I arrived after him, it seemed that you were enjoying it a lot for someone who reckons that he shouldn’t have been there.’
Harry groaned and finally looked at her. She had a little smile on her face, almost sorry.
‘So you and Ron have been talking about it?’ he asked.
‘Yes, we have. When you went back to the house after your argument we stayed a little longer in the yard. I told him he shouldn’t meddle like that.’
‘Bet he didn’t like it.’
‘No, he didn’t, but I can understand him, just like I understand why you followed Ginny into her room,’ Hermione made a little pause before she continued. ‘He said that you are like a brother to him, but she is his sister. He told me that she spent several days locked in her room when they got back from Hogwarts, and that she had a very long face. He doesn’t want her to feel that bad again after we leave.’
Harry looked back at his knees. He would feel guiltier if he hadn’t been in a very similar mood the weeks he spent in Privet Drive, but couldn’t avoid thinking that he was a prat, that he should have comforted her somehow when she couldn’t look at him after Ron had interrupted them instead of leaving the bedroom just like he did.
‘I don’t want her to, either,’ he said.
‘I know, Harry. And I know that you miss her too.’
Harry groaned again and rubbed his eyes behind his glasses.
‘Hermione, please, I really, really don’t want to talk about Ginny’.
But she disregarded again.
‘Really? Don’t you want to know that I have talked to her this afternoon too?’ Hermione asked, making Harry look at her again, now there was a mischievous smirk on her face.
‘What are you playing at? Look who’s meddling! You could use all that effort for -,’ but she didn’t let him finish.
‘She was angry, said she should have asked you to close the door with magic but she forgot. She’s told me that she couldn’t stand that your last kiss was an ordinary one, she wanted to give you a proper kiss before we left, one you would remember.’
‘Well, she did,’ he mumbled, noticing he was slightly blushing with the remembrance, thinking that he would remember every single kiss they had shared. ‘What’s got into you? You’re not this gossip normally.’
Hermione took some seconds to reply.
‘We’re about to leave, but we don’t know what we’re going to do. We’re here spending some days of summer in the Burrow as always, but everything's different. Everything’s strained,’ she paused again, and then shrugged. ‘There’s a wedding tomorrow, when will we have the chance to have a good time again? To celebrate something? I reckon we all deserve some happiness these days. You clearly miss Ginny, and she misses you too. I think you’re not doing anything bad if you two want to spend some time snogging before the storm.’
Harry laughed. How simple and complicated, all at once.
‘It’s not that easy, Hermione,’ he said, ignoring her sceptical look. ‘And you? Are you doing something that makes you happy these days?
‘Well, I must confess that Ginny has been some kind of inspiring today,’ there wasn’t much light at the Burrow’s back porch, but Harry could see that Hermione’s cheeks had turned light pink. ‘I want to have a good time tomorrow, I’m going to drink champagne and dance as much as I can, and whatever.’
‘And whatever?’ asked Harry, incredulous.
‘Yeah, whatever - whatever it takes me to.’
‘With a certain someone?’
Hermione didn’t reply, just blushed a little more and nodded very slightly, as if she didn’t want to confirm more clearly something that was unsaid - but very clear for Harry indeed.
‘I don’t think you will need to make a big effort to… whatever,’ he said, and both smiled at each other.
There were other few minutes of silence. Harry tried but failed to not think about what it would mean for their mission if something between Ron and Hermione happened before they left, or during the time they were away. It shouldn’t affect them much (after all, if things had taken a normal course instead of what had happened, Ron and Hermione should have gotten together last year), but maybe it would feel weird all the same, maybe he would feel a bit lonely, maybe he would miss Ginny even more.
‘Harry, can I ask you something?’ Hermione said, getting him out of his thoughts. He didn’t reply, but nodded. ‘This morning, when you and Ron were arguing about Ginny, there was a moment that you went from angry to… to some kind of miserable, I reckon,’ Harry nodded again, slowly, also feeling miserable again too. ‘It was when you said that she doesn’t expect you both to end up married… What -?’
‘I realised,’ he said before she could finish the question, slowly and avoiding her look, ‘that she is free and I’m not. That someday, she will marry someone.’
‘And you think it will not be you.’
He didn’t reply, the thought already felt way too painful in his mind, he couldn’t say it out loud.
‘Oh my God,’ she continued, ‘you love her… don’t you? You really do. I suspected it, but it’s true!’
Harry was not looking at her, but could feel her stare. The sound of her voice was excited, as if what she was saying was the best thing that could happen to him. But it wasn’t. He kept silent and she seemed to understand, for when she spoke again her mood wasn’t that bright.
‘In case you don’t know, Ginny is determined to wait for you.’
This made him even more miserable, though he couldn’t help feeling something very warm spreading in his chest at the same time.
‘She shouldn’t,’ he said. ‘I don’t know if I will be back, or how long it will take. She may be wasting her time’.
Hermione suddenly hugged him, it took him by surprise. He patted the arm she had on his front before she retreated. Harry finally looked at her and saw that she had watery eyes.
‘It’s not fair,’ she said.
They fell silent again, Harry hoped that the conversation was finally over. There wasn’t much more to say. The thought of Ginny meeting someone else, falling in love with someone else, went through him like a million icy knives. But he didn’t like the thought of sad-waiting-Ginny either. He just wanted her to be happy. However it was.
‘So what did Ron get you for your birthday?’ she asked, making Harry glad that the conversation about Ginny seemed finally over indeed. ‘He didn’t tell me.’
‘A book.’
‘Which one?’
‘Er - a book about Quidditch’.
‘What about Quidditch?’
‘It’s… some kind of guide… practical advice and techniques.’
‘You can give it to me in the morning if you want to take it with you, so that I can pack it with the rest of the books we’re taking’.
‘No, don’t worry, I’ll leave it here, I won’t need it,’ he said, thinking of Ginny.
They spent some more time there, not talking much, before agreeing that they should get back into the house and try to have some sleep.
When Harry woke up late in the morning he was alone in Ron's bedroom and could hear a lot of hustle from the yard. He sat up in bed, put his glasses on and found his copy of Twelve Fail-Safe Ways to Charm Witches exactly where he had left it the day before, on the improvised nightstand beside the camp bed. He took it and turned some pages randomly until something strange caught his eye, he recognised Ron’s handwriting below the title of Chapter 7, ‘So you messed it up: how to get your witch back’:
You might find this helpful someday.
So, after all, Ron was not upset about him and Ginny snogging or getting back together, he was upset about timing.
Harry smiled, planning to read Chapter 7 if he succeeded in finishing the mission Dumbledore had given him. There was nothing he wished more than the chance of being the man waiting for Ginny at the end of the aisle.

“Shh, stop fussing,” Harry said, trying to soothe her. “I’m just braiding your hair.”
“Don’t shush me,” she muttered, hugging the toilet. “When did you learn how to braid hair, anyway?”
“Mum taught me,” he told her, as he carefully wove her ginger locks together into a tight plait. “On Sirius.”
Despite her current disposition, Ginny let out a short chuckle. “What?”
“When I was seven, Sirius went through a long hair phase. He was trying to grow it longer than my mum’s,” he explained. “They can tell you about it at the table. You have a hair tie?”
Ginny stuck out a hand, and Harry gently pulled off the black tie from her wrist. He tied up the end of her plait and put his hands on her shoulders. “There. Now your hair won’t be in the way.”
She looked back at him, her face soft and pale. “Thank you.”
“You think you’ve finished?”
She nodded. “For now.”
Harry stood up, flushed the toilet one more time for good measure, and then offered his hand to Ginny and helped her up. “You think you’ll be able to get through the rest of lunch?”
“I’m hoping,” she said, attempting a smile. “You go back out there, I’m just gonna brush my teeth...again.”
He kissed her cheek and left the bathroom. When he returned to the dining room, James and Sirius were caught up in a heated debate about whether flying the motorbike or a broom was a more efficient way of travelling. Lily had a knowing look on her face as Harry sat back down, which made Harry want to avoid her eyes, afraid his own would confirm it.
She played along, anyway. “Is Ginny alright, love?”
“Yeah, she’s fine, she’ll be out in a moment,” he assured her, taking a sip of his pumpkin juice.
Sirius halted his argument with James to add, “I did think she seemed a bit off-color when we got here.”
Of course Sirius decided to become observant when they were trying to keep something private. He was glad to have an excuse to change the subject. “I was just telling her about your long hair phase when I was a kid, remember that?”
“My glory days, you mean?” Sirius reminisced wistfully. He looked at James and Lily. “You think I should grow it out again?”
“No,” said James at the same time as Lily said “yes.”
“What Evans says goes,” Sirius smiled.
Just then, Ginny emerged from the bathroom and joined them at the table. She sat down and muttered, “Sorry about that.”
“Nothing to be sorry about,” James waved off, pouring her a glass of water. “Are you alright?”
She nodded. “Yes, thank you.” She squeezed Harry’s thigh with one hand and took the water in the other. Harry took that as his cue to take lead of the conversation.
“Ginny wanted to hear about how I learned to braid hair,” Harry told them.
Sirius and Lily laughed as James dug into more food. “I had just cut my hair,” started Lily. “Shoulder-length. And Sirius’s hair was getting pretty long, he was about to cut it himself when we realized it was about the same length.”
“So we had a contest,” Sirius said. “Who could grow out their hair longer, faster.”
“It was a pretty close call,” James joined in.
“But eventually I got tired of only donning a man-bun. It was time to change up my style. So I asked my dear sister here to teach me how to braid my hair. Even though I could’ve just used my wand, now that I’m thinking about it.”
“So Sirius practiced on me,” Lily recalled. “And Harry watched, and then we got him to braid Sirius’s hair for him. I said, ‘my love, one day this is going to be a skill that will come in handy in one way or another,’ and any time spent with Sirius was time well spent for Harry.”
“Still feel that way, kid?” Sirius asked Harry, grinning.
Harry shrugged playfully and Ginny laughed, bringing some color back into her face. “Depends on the day.”
“I get it, you’re married now,” Sirius lamented as he ruffled his own hair, much shorter than it was back then. “But I guess Ginny has me to thank for that lovely plait, given all the hair you ripped out of my head practicing.”
“No hairs were ripped out in the making of this plait,” Ginny assured them, smiling. She reached for a roll and took a small bite. Harry could tell she was hungry but scared to eat anything more. She swallowed. “Thank you for teaching him, most helpful.”
“Remember how we used to have braid-offs?” said James, his arm around Lily. “To see if Harry or I could braid faster?”
“Oh yeah,” Harry laughed, recollecting it. “Whoever was braiding Mum’s hair always won,” he told Ginny, holding her hand on his thigh. “Because hers was much easier to work with than Sirius’s.”
As Sirius took great offense to this and started going on about how female conditioner is better than male conditioner and it took him a year to figure that out and make the switch, Harry looked over at his wife and saw her scrunching up her features. “You ok?” he asked, quiet but concerned.
“I thought I was done, but…” She closed her eyes and took a deep breath through her nose and out through her mouth. “I don’t think that’s the case.”
And then she stood up abruptly, mumbled, “excuse me,” and ran down the hall, slamming the bathroom door behind her.
They all went quiet, staring at the closed door.
James spoke first. “Is she alright? If Ginny’s sick we can get going, you can take care of her.”
“No, it’s fine, it’s-” he stammered, unsure of how to finish his sentence.
“Harry,” said Lily, compassion in her voice. She knew. Harry knew she knew. She smiled at him. “Go check up on her, let her decide.”
He could tell she meant let her decide if she wants to tell them the news more than decide if they should leave. Harry nodded, getting up from his seat and apologizing. “Sorry, be right back.”
He walked quickly down the hall and knocked on the door. “It’s me,” he said. “Can I come in?”
Harry heard her clear her voice before responding, “Yes.”
There she was on the floor again, head hanging in defeat over the toilet, a sight that Harry has been saddened to become so familiar with over the past couple of weeks, despite the otherwise wonderful cause of it.
He shut the door behind him, and squatted down on the floor, gently placing a hand on her back.
“Your mum so knows,” she grumbled. “Doesn’t she?”
“I suspect so, yeah,” he replied as she flushed the toilet. “Gin, if you don’t want to tell them yet we don’t have to, we can tell them you’re sick and they can go home.”
She shook her head slowly and turned her gaze to her husband. “No, let’s tell them. I want them to know. It’s just...we haven’t told anyone, you know? Saying it out loud makes it feel more real.”
“Is that a bad thing?”
“No, of course not,” she clarified. “I’m so happy, you know that. But it’s still scary.”
He smiled, moving closer to her as he continued to rub her back. “They’ll help us.”
“I know they will,” she smiled back.
Harry helped her up again, and she moved to wash her hands and face. As she was finishing up he asked, “Are you sure you’re done?”
“Yeah, that was the last of it,” Ginny stated in reassurance. She rinsed with mouthwash and spit it out. “This baby better be worth all the vomit.”
Harry laughed, pulling her in, enveloping her in a hug with gentle arms. “It will be.”
She sighed against him, leaning up and pressing a soft kiss to his jaw, which then prompted him to lean down and kiss her on the mouth. She pulled away laughing. “You do not want to kiss me after that.”
“I always want to kiss you,” he told her in earnest. “You used mouthwash, it’s fine.”
“Harry-”
He caught her lips with his own, kissing her passionately. And how could he not? She was going to be the mother of their child. He felt so grateful to her, so guilty that she had to be the one to bear the bodily burden of it all. He hoped he could translate it all into his kiss.
Ginny must’ve understood- she always did - as she kissed him back with equal enthusiasm for a minute before pulling away again. “Harry,” she repeated, this time with tenderness in her voice.
“Sorry,” he said. He moved a stray hair from her braid and tucked it behind her ear. His heart was swelling. He could hold her all day. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” she told him as her eyes softened. “Alright, let’s do this.”
They exited the bathroom together and approached the dining room table. Before they could even sit back down Sirius said, “Are you pregnant or something?”
James groaned and Lily smacked Sirius’s arm hard.
Sirius swore loudly, glaring at Lily. “What the hell, Evans?”
“That’s a rude question to ask, Pads,” James muttered.
“No tact,” Lily sighed in disappointment. “None, whatsoever!”
“I was just asking an innocent question! Her sprinting from the table just reminded me of you when you were pregnant with this one,” Sirius said, nudging his head towards his godson. Then he looked at them. “Sorry, didn’t mean to be rude.”
Before Harry could interject, Ginny said, “No, it’s ok. You’re right.”
The room fell quiet. James’s eyes widened. “Come again?”
“He’s right,” she repeated. “I am pregnant.”
“Surprise?” Harry offered.
There was a beat, and then Lily, James, and Sirius all started speaking at once, sharing their congratulations, shooting up out of their seats and moving to hug them. When Lily reached her son, she put both her hands on his face, and she had tears in her eyes.
Harry smiled. “You knew, right?”
“A mother always does,” she confirmed, giving him a kiss on the forehead. “You’ll learn that soon enough when Ginny suddenly becomes all-knowing.”
“She already is.”

Out of the Mouths of Babes — Chapter 3

Chapter 2 on Tumblr
Written for Hinny Ficfest 2021 (I know it's unacceptable I'm still working on this, but I got distracted by other prompts)
Prompt: “Uncle Ron said something about Harry knocking Ginny up, but I don’t know what he means,” Teddy said.
******
Harry and Ginny landed on the path leading up through the Burrow's garden, and they were already feeling more at home than they even felt in their own flat. They approached the door to the kitchen smiling and holding hands, but before Ginny could reach the doorknob, the door flew open and the fast, blurry form of her mother tackled her into a crushing hug that knocked the wind out of Ginny.
"Oh my girl!" Molly Weasley sobbed into her daughter's shoulder. "My dear little girl!"
"Mum!" Ginny gasped weakly, swatting her mother's back as she started to feel light headed. "Mum! Air!"
Molly finally released her and Ginny took a gasping breath.
"Is something wrong, Mrs. Weasley?" Harry asked quickly, his expression quickly becoming focused and alert.
"Yeah, is there another Dark Lord already? Bloody hell," said Ginny, rubbing her crushed ribs.
"Oh no, no, it's nothing," Molly sniffed, waving dismissively with one hand and wiping tears away from her eyes with the other. "I'm just so happy to see you both, it's been weeks."
"It's been exactly three weeks for Ginny, Mrs. Weasley, and one week for me," Harry pointed out. He had never seen her react so fiercely, even when seeing her children for the first time after being away at school for a year."
"Oh you know me, just being silly," chuckled Molly. "Come on in, dinner is almost ready."
The three of them entered the kitchen, and Harry reflexively reached for his wand as his fledgling Auror senses kicked in. The atmosphere in the room was nearly identical to what he had felt in interrogation rooms. Every man in the room was looking either angry or nervous, with the exception of George, who was biting his knuckle and looking like he was trying not to laugh. He tried to meet Ron's eyes, but his best friend was too distracted by his mother's famous scones. Hermione greeted him with a grateful smile, and Harry got the impression that she had noticed it too. She was the only one who hadn't touched her firewhiskey, tapping the glass with her finger nervously.
After fidgeting for a few seconds, Percy shot up out of his seat, looking too antsy to keep still, and approached the newcomers with two glasses of firewhiskey in his hands. "Er...care for a drink?"
"...Sure," said Harry cautiously, "Thanks." He took the glass offered to him.
Ginny assumed the other glass was for her, and her hand moved an inch to take it, but before she could, Percy turned away and kept it for himself, taking the largest gulp that Ginny had ever seen him take.
Ginny huffed and pursed her lips. Apparently, after bloody everything, her brothers still saw her as just a kid, to the point where it didn't even occur to them that maybe she wanted a stiff drink too. She was just about to let them all know exactly what she thought of that, when the second frantic mother in as many minutes accosted her.
"Ginny!" cried Fleur loudly as she entered from the sitting room, holding Victoire in her arms, presumably after feeding the baby upstairs. Fleur made a beeline for Ginny and tackled her into a one-armed hug, then planted two hard kisses on either of her cheeks.
"Er….nice to see you too," said Ginny uncomfortably, her face turning red. Ginny and Fleur had gotten friendlier since the war ended, but this level of affection was certainly unheard of.
"You are beautiful, Ginevra," said Fleur with a beaming smile, "Radiant! Come, I 'ave somezing upstairs I need your 'elp with."
"Fleur…" said Bill, his voice laced with warning.
"I just need 'elp wiz ze packing," she said dismissively, handing her daughter to her husband. Before Ginny could express displeasure at being roped into work before she could say a word to her family, Fleur had taken her by the hand and begun leading her up the stairs. They stopped at Bill and Charlie's old bedroom, which by now was more of a storage space to shove things the family didn't have a space for. When Fleur opened the door, Ginny saw the old beds covered in several wardrobes worth of colorful, expensive-looking outfits. Ginny recognized them as Fleur's maternity clothes.
"I am finally getting to packing away all of zis," Fleur explained, pointing towards several open cardboard boxes. "Ze sorting should go faster with ze two of us."
"Okay," said Ginny uncertainly, "Why now? And do you want me specifically?"
"Oh, well," Fleur shrugged, "Eet just seemed the right time, zey 'ave been sitting up here for ages. And I am letting Bill spend time with his brozzers, and your maman….well, it is best if ze two of us avoid zis topic, or she will be lamenting zat I will not be putting all zis to use again soon enough."
"Ugh, I know," Ginny groaned. "She really has been smothering you, hasn't she?"
That was enough to make Ginny sympathize with her sister-in-law, and she set to work sorting, folding, and packing away the absurd mountain of clothes. Of course Fleur had to invest in a whole new wardrobe for just a few months, all from the same high-end French designers she got all her clothes from.
Ginny chuckled and shook her head.
"What is funny?" asked Fleur.
"It's just...maternity clothes are supposed to be frumpy, right? But even your maternity clothes are more glamorous and sexy than what I wear normally," Ginny laughed.
"Oh. Well…" Fleur said in a sing-song voice, "Eef you see anyzing zat you liiiike…."
"I don't think it would make much difference if they sat in my closet for several years instead of yours," laughed Ginny. "Hermione's the one who's already engaged, she's probably the one who will need these next."
There was a beat of silence, so Ginny looked up from the clothes she was folding towards Fleur, and was surprised to see the other woman looking at her with sadness and disappointment, chewing her painted lip with worry.
"Ginny…" Fleur said softly, gently squeezing Ginny's shoulder. "I like to zink zat we 'ave become closer zese last few years. I 'ope zat we can trust one anozzer. We can tell each ozzer zings and know zat eet will stay between us."
Ginny blinked at Fleur silently. "Er...thanks, Fleur, that...means a lot."
Fleur smiled again, but was still looking at Ginny expectantly, like she expected her to say something equally earnest, and the younger witch was growing more uncomfortable.
"Well, uh, anyway, I don't want to sound like my mum, but it is kind of surprising you're packing these away," Ginny said forcefully, trying to change the subject as she turned back to the clothes. "I never figured you and Bill would stop at one. I always pictured you having a whole proper Weasley litter. If nothing else, you need to have more just so that Vic isn't the only grandchild anymore, so she's not doted to death by my mum."
"Oh, zere is plenty of time for more children for us in years to come," said Fleur, waving her hand, "...and as for Victoire being ze only grandchild," she elbowed Ginny in the ribs playfully, "a leetle bird told me zat she will not 'ave zat title for long."
Ginny jerked so violently she nearly ripped the expensive blouse she was holding, spinning to face Fleur with her eyes wide and her mouth gaping. She saw that mischievous glint in Fleur's eye that she alway got when she had a piece of family gossip.
"WHAT!?" Ginny shrieked. "Who — how do you know—"
"Shhh," Fleur placed a finger against Ginny's lips. "Zere is no need to say anyzing." She gave the confused girl a cheeky wink and continued with the clothes as if she hadn't just dropped a world-shattering bomb on her poor sister-in-law. Ginny's heart was pounding and her mind was racing, which Fleur was no doubt aware of and was thoroughly enjoying having a piece of gossip that Ginny was desperate for.
But Ginny wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of begging for it. It couldn't be that hard to figure out who Fleur was talking about.
Percy hadn't had a single date since the war ended, as far as Ginny knew. He was still beating himself up for abandoning the family to think he deserved anything good in his life.
George had been spending a lot of time with Angelina lately, but they weren't even officially together yet. And if they had that kind of accident, Fleur wouldn't be the first in the family to know about it. George might have gone to Bill for advice, but Bill would take that seriously enough to not share it with anyone, even his wife.
Charlie couldn't have kids since the incident with the angry Ukrainian Ironbelly.
But that would only leave…
Ginny gasped and covered her mouth with her hands. It all made sense now. Ron suddenly talking about leaving the Aurors just to work in the joke shop. That completely clashed with the Ron she knew, who hated being put on the sidelines while others were in danger, and who hated being in the twins' shadow even more…
But it made perfect sense if he needed a less dangerous job with more stable hours. Something one would want if they were expecting a baby.
Fleur looked regretful about pushing Ginny's buttons, and put a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"I did not mean to upset you, Ginny," she said softly, "forget I said anyzing."
Ginny idly nodded, but knew that she could never "forget" something like this.
Hermione Granger, the brightest witch of her age, one of Ginny's best friends, was pregnant.

A Secure guy
Written for the Hinny Ficfest 2021.
Thank you @clarensjoy for organizing this! Really! We're so lucky to have you!!
@thedistantdusk , you're a sweetheart and I love you. Thank you again for everything. That was the sweetest surprise.
Prompts:
#66: “That was the last time. I’m serious this time.”
#85: “She deserves flowers and gifts and a secure guy who isn’t almost murdered by lunatics left and right and I can’t give her that.”
Also available on Ao3.
TW: Rated M just in case. And really angsty.
She deserved flowers and gifts and a secure guy who wasn’t almost murdered by lunatics left and right and he couldn’t give her that.
Harry knew it was a matter of time, he wasn’t that stupid or delusional.
He just hoped it’d never come and the emotions jostling in his heart hurt like hell, so much more he’d thought it would.
The bed bounced when she retrieved her jumper from the floor of his room and got dressed.
“That was the last time. I’m serious this time,” Ginny murmured in the night, hooking her bra behind her back, her voice colder than ever before.
Harry contented himself to nod, unable to come up with a reply anyway. The ball in his throat suffocated him, and yet, to his despair, he wasn’t dying.
She meant it this time, it was evident. He had to resign himself that it was over, the end of a story, of a story he had himself destroyed. Ginny had turned the page and it wasn’t her fault if he was still stuck in the past.
It was over. Never again would the tips of his fingers graze her hot skin, his palms brush her thighs, his lips skim her face or his nails scratch at her back.
It would be someone else’s task now, he reckoned.
She hadn’t looked at him at all this time, keeping her eyes shut, her lips away from his, like it was now forbidden to cross that line. He’d noticed the difference right away, leaving him tight-lipped. His lips had searched hers but she’d turned her head, her long hair colliding with his face. His heart racing, his movements unsteady, he’d tried again, but she’d pulled back completely, increasing the speed of her hips connecting with his, her hands clutching his biceps.
Harry understood at this instant that something had changed in their intimate relationship, that she wasn’t interested to share that part of her with him anymore. He contented himself to observe her while he was trying to pleasure her, her silhouette blurred from his lack of glasses. He cherished every pant and sigh coming from her lips, touching, with a heavy heart, these sections of her body only he knew of.
For now.
It had killed him to not feel her trembling on him from the intensity of their love-making. Ginny had  jumped from him the second she finished like he’d burned her. Clenching his jaw,  he realized another man would have that chance now, and that he should have relished in it more the last time they had been together. He hadn’t expected it, as stupid as it sounded, and now he was let trying to grasp at every single souvenirs of it he could recover in his memory.
Thus far, she’d stayed close to him in bed after, her head on his chest, her sweet smelling hair tickling his chin, just like before he decided to fuck it up.
But he prefered to crush his dream life then to live with the possibility of endangering her.
She got off of the bed, the sheet moving from his bare chest at the same time. He couldn’t look at her getting dressed or leaving his room for the last time, knowing full well he wouldn’t be able to bear it, that it would be the last image of them sharing something intimate together.
It was his decision and he couldn’t expect her to act like he hadn’t broken up with her.
Again.
His eyes stung, and yet, he did nothing to stop it, too devastated to sooth the pain. He stared at the ceiling of his room, arms crossed over his heart, attempting to protect the last bit of dignity he could gather.
The door closed behind her, the click reasonating in his ears, and he was left alone to face his intolerable heartache like a big boy. But it hurt more than knowing you were the only one to save the world, more than wishing your mum would rock you at night after a nightmare, realizing your aunt would probably be willing to do that for anyone else but you. Because you were different, you were dangerous.
Because Ginny had been the only one he’d ever trusted enough to be completely vulnerable in her presence, with whom he’d accepted to share the most private parts of him. Their relationship had been a turning point in his life, raw, essential to his survival. Special enough that she could scream to the world the feel of her lips on his was the principal reason they were rid of Voldemort.
The first threatening sob escaped his lips, the sound breaking the silence of the room, and then another, and another, and he found himself unable to control his shaken body.
Rolling on his side, he brought up his knees to his chest, struggling to breathe, the flow of his tears flooding his pillow.
He deserved the pain. He deserved it. Because he was different, too dangerous, and Ginny couldn’t be with him.
He grasped his comforter, bringing it to his nose in hope it was filled with her flowery scent and he could get the impression she was here, close to him. Just one last time. Just once.
Crying convulsively, shedding tear after tear, Harry didn’t even hear when the door creaked again.
“Sorry I forgot my- Harry?!”
He tried, really tried, to stop the last sob from crossing his lips, in vain. Sealing his lips together, Harry hoped Ginny wouldn’t judge him or take pity on him, or worse, fetch Ron.
He stayed still, hearing his heart pumping in his ears and feeling dizzy from the sadness and anger at himself consuming his insides.
The mattress sank under Ginny’s weight and Harry felt her feet against his calves. One of her hands settled on his shoulder, the other one taking residence in his hair, tentatively brushing lock after lock. She pressed against his back, her clothes remembering him she didn’t stay this time.
“It’s okay. I’ve got you. I’m here,” she whispered in his ear.
“You-you don’t want to be here,” he managed to reply, shame rousing inside him. Harry was mortified she found him in a ball on his bed after they just had sex. His chagrin  was eating him alive, sending him spiralling in a dark void where he could only feel hatred and disgust for himself, but also heartache and something related to agony, he was sure of it.
The silence stretched a moment until Harry sniffed, his hand squeezing the comforter tighter against his chest. An owl hooted outside, reviving Harry’s melancholy at not having Hedwig to talk to, with whom he could share without embarrassment his fright of dying without being loved.
“That’s only because you don’t want me to be here, Harry,” murmured Ginny, her words shattering his heart. Regret burnt in his veins, knowing he’d afflicted Ginny with his deepest terror.
Being dumped, ditched by the person you trusted the most.
Harry turned on his back, needing her to understand she did nothing wrong, on the contrary, that he never wanted her to feel abandoned or betrayed. But the words died in his throat when he saw her eyes filled with her own tears.
“I just want to protect you from me,” he pleaded with her to understand. She had to understand.
Ginny closed her eyes, inhaling sharply, the hand that was on his shoulder now playing with the hair on his chest, close to his heart. Harry remembered that time to cherish it, to incrust in his mind the solace her small fingers on his skin brought him, soothing the violent anguish torturing his mind. “You’re hurting me more than anyone else could ever do,” she spat at him.
He sniffed again, her words like a knife twisting his heart. He searched for something to say, for the best way to explain his train of thoughts, but he’d never been the best at formulating his idea.
“Well, I guess I have nothing else to do here,” said Ginny, and he felt her hand lifting from his chest.
He panicked. “No, no. Stay. Please, Ginny.”
She frowned. “Why? For me to hurt even more when you’ll tell me you didn’t change your mind? That you still don’t want to be with me? Just in case? You can’t, Harry. It can’t continue. You can’t fuck me, kiss me like we were still together, and then expect me to be all good with it when you gently remind me we’re not. It’s destroying me,” Ginny said, her voice cracking. Her hand lifted to her mouth and she closed her eyes before turning her back to him, exactly like she did when he let her alone in her room after their last kiss years ago.
He let her down so many times.
But all he could think of was that: Was she really thinking he only used her body lately for his own physical needs? How could she have been aware that each time they had touched, it  had been the only times he’d felt alive lately?
She wasn’t trusting him anymore, just like most people she knew. He was now discarded in the “dangerous category”, the same as Tom.
Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck.
Swallowing, he pressed his palms to his teary eyes, begging himself to regain control of his emotions. Harry sat up, his hand shaking when he moved it to her back. “Don’t- don’t hide from me.”
He started caressing her back, feeling more confident with her than he ever felt with any other crying girl. Merlin, he was so messed up, he didn’t even know why Ginny ever wanted him.
Harry should have realised Ginny's trust was something difficult --maybe impossible-- to regain, and that was why she didn’t turn back, still trying to muffle up her sobs.
He had to try though, to show her it was real what they ever shared, that he meant it when he told her he loved her. He should have said it more, showed it more.
At this point, Harry didn’t even know what he was doing, his mind confused, his needs, desires, dreams and fears all twirling and colliding in his head. There were still dangers at being with him, to be displayed by his side, to be linked to him, and his anxiety of losing her was strong enough to leave him breathless and choking in fear. Harry was unable to think straight when it happened, ready to do anything to keep her safe.
Yet, he made a mistake. Again. He knew it now.
“I’m sorry, Gin. I never wanted to hurt you,” he said, laying his forehead on her shoulder.
The tears started flowing from his eyes again but he didn’t hold them in, knowing it was no use. Not when it came to her being in pain, a pain he caused.
“I-I don’t,” he tried. “I don’t know what-what to do. I don’t want you to die too.”
There was a beat, and then Ginny turned, laying her forehead on his, keeping her eyes close. “I understand, I’m terrorized by the idea of you dying too,” she confided to him, her fingers dancing around his wrist. “Just- I’m my own person and its my choice who I date. Just act with your heart for once. I’ll deal with your decision, but-”
“Can I kiss you?” whispered Harry, knowing he’d made up his mind. A life without her was meaningless and he was nonfunctional without her love.  His hand went up to her freckled cheek, the skin there so soft compared to his rough palm.
Taken aback, Ginny swallowed before humming in response. Without opening her eyes, she leaned her mouth to his, her breath warming his chin. The tip of her tongue moisted her lips in the most tantalizing way, causing Harry’s head to spin, and then she crushed her lips to his.
He kissed her with fervor, with a passion he wasn’t aware he was capable of. She pushed on his chest and he brought her body with his on the mattress. Straddling him, she kissed his neck and he felt himself being consumed with desire, with a powerful lust leaving him panting. Ginny chuckled in his neck  and then lifted her head to look into his eyes, giving him such a sensual smile he groaned in longing.
Their love-making this time was like he was remembering it: full of intensity and filled with love, little attentions and pure ecstasy.
"Give me some time," she whispered when they were regaining their breath, her head resting on his chest. “I-I need time.” Harry’s breath hitch and Ginny surely heard it because she lifted her head and moved on him to rest her chin on her hands, which were close to his heart. She kissed his chin tenderly.
“I love you, I just-”
“I understand,” said Harry, cutting her. Because he did, really did. “I’ll wait. I love you. Forever,” he told her earnestly, caressing her hair and promising himself he’d do all he ever needed to do to get her trust back.

May 2004
“Guys, hurry up! The flight leaves in four hours! It could take time to get a taxi, there could be traffic, the plane could leave early! When you get to New York there could be a line at customs, come on!” Hermoine Granger was racing through the flat of Fred and George Weasley, the one above their infamous joke shop, Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes. She grabbed clothing from their drawers and tossed it haphazardly into suitcases, while the twins in question were lounged out on their sofa observing the scene.
You sat wedged between the two boys, leaning your head against Fred’s shoulder with your legs draped across George’s lap. You laughed as Hermione was practically hysterical about getting everything ready, even though she wouldn’t even be going to America.
“Good thing she’s not gonna be on the flight,” Fred whispered into your ear. “A six hour trip to New York? That’s a lot of Hermione.”
Smiling you turned to look at Fred who was holding something in his hand. “What’ve you got there?”
He grinned cheekily and gave you a better look. “Condoms, Y/N! You never know what American hotties I might meet overseas.”
Rolling your eyes you turned to George, who was giving you the same grin. “And I suppose you’re just as prepared as your brother?”
“Of course! Y’know, I feel bad for poor Ronniekins, getting himself all tied down to one woman. Me and Fred, we know how to live, isn’t that right mate?”
“You said it.” You sighed and settled into Fred even more, relaxing for a few minutes before Hermione would drag you all to the airport and you and Harry would be stuck trying to teach the Weasleys how Muggle planes worked.
There was an audible pop as Ron apparated into the room, standing off by the kitchen.
“Hey!” he greeted, causing you to sit up from your comfortable position wrapped in Fred’s arm and go meet your friend with a hug.
“Hey.” You squeezed him tight, noticing how his nerves had overtaken him.
“Are you ready yet?” he asked, fidgeting with his wand.
Before you could respond Hermione came barging out of George’s bedroom and threw two suitcases onto the twins’ laps with what could only be described as superhuman strength. “She’s ready. You have the tickets?”
“Harry and Gin do, they’ll be here any second.” The only current couple of the group, and an engaged one at that, suddenly arrived with another loud pop, startling Fred who had begun to count his condoms to make sure he had enough.
“Hey big brother!” Ginny hugged Ron with enthusiasm, but not as much as Harry showed as he threw himself onto his best friend.
“You’re getting married Ron!”
“I know!”
They stayed wrapped in their hug as they jumped around and around, George clapping along and laughing at the duo.
“Don’t know why Lavender would want to marry a specky git like you,” said the younger twin, “but at least we get to travel to the states for it.”
“And have wedding food,” said Fred.
“Oh and you can’t forget the hot bridesmaids, right boys?” you questioned jokingly.
They shared a mischievous look. “Never.”
A loud bell sounded through the loft, signaling that someone had come in.
“That must be Luna!” Ginny exclaimed. She sprinted down the stairs and wrapped the blonde girl in a hug, being gentle as to not crush her or her pregnant belly.
“Hello Ginny, how are you?”
“Never better! Thanks again for offering to help Hermione watch the apartments and oversee the shop and employees. Ron really wishes you could make it to the wedding, but seeing as you’re about to burst--”
Luna interrupted her old friend with a soft laugh. She was 8 months pregnant with twin boys, and was left home alone for a few weeks while her husband dealt with a work issue in Eastern Asia. Which meant she had plenty of free time to make sure things were running smoothly in London while her friends were overseas.
The two girls were joined by the rest of the gang who had been pushed down the stairs by a frantic Hermione. “Get going, all of you! You’re going to miss your flight.”
“New York baby!” The twins had jumped down from one of the landings, somehow managing not to injure themselves. Although they were now 26 they were never without their childlike energy.
“I’m walking here!” cried Fred in a horrid New York accent.
“Yee haw, cowboy!” said George, doing a little cowboy dance.
You sighed and slapped your head with your hand. “Okay, cause that’s not gonna get annoying.”
They ignored you and continued with their yelling and dancing, dragging as much luggage as they could out the front door of the shop.
“Well,” said Ron, “we’re all here and ready. I guess we should get going!” Harry and Ginny gave Luna one last goodbye as they followed you out to the alley, leaving only Ron, Hermione, and Luna left in the shop.
“So, we’re off,” said Ron, a little awkwardly. He and Hermione had a bit of a rough past, having dated on and off for the past few years. But that was all behind them now, and she was happy that he had reconnected with their friend Lavender from Hogwarts and had fallen in love.
“Have fun, Ron,” replied the bushy-haired girl.
“Thanks,” he said, giving his friend a tight hug. “Ugh, I can’t believe you’re not gonna be there!”
Hermione sighed and pulled back. “Oh I know, I’m sorry.”
“So-so come! Why don’t you come?”
“What?”
“To New York!” Ron was holding Hermione’s hands and jumping up and down. “Come to New York, please? It’ll mean so much to me.”
Hermione hesitated for a moment. She wanted to go, to have a great trip with her friends and visit the historical places she’d read so much about. But she didn’t have it in her to watch her ex-boyfriend get married to someone else.
“Yeah, well, I gotta work, I’m sorry. The Ministry is really up my arse these days, pardon my language.”
“Mione, this is my wedding,” he said, giving her his best puppy dog eyes.
You stuck your head back through the door and called out to them. “Alright, y’know what? Now we really are late, let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!”
Ron sighed and let go of his friend, grabbing his suitcase before heading out the door. “I’ll see you when I get back, Mione. Bye Luna!”
Luna and Hermione both gave small waves as Ron pulled the door shut. A resounding “New York, baby” could be heard even from deep inside the shop, and Hermione giggled as her friends made their way to the London airport.
----------------------------------------
“Alright,” said Ginny as you all stepped out into the streets of New York City. “Harry and I will help the groom and bride-to-be get everything set up for their big day. Which means you, Y/N, get the honor of babysitting my older brothers.”
“Ginny I can’t handle them all by myself! We’ve been here for less than 5 minutes and look at what they’re doing already.” You all turned to look at the ginger twins, who were standing on top of a map of the city and staring down at it.
“What is going on with you two?” you asked, but you were quickly silenced as Fred placed his finger on your lips.
“We’re concentrating. We went in the map so we can figure out where we are.” He kept his finger there until you finally removed it and looked at the map they had made, complete with little pop ups of all the important places they wanted to see.
“If you see a little version of me in there, kill it.” Harry laughed at your quip and grabbed Ginny’s hand, waving goodbye as the couple and Ron made their way to meet Lavender and her family.
“We got it!” screamed the twins. They stepped out of the map and started walking right, on to their first tourist destination. “Here we go.”
“Okay, listen,” you said catching up to them, “we’re not gonna have to walk this way the entire time are we?”
Fred shushed you and George groaned. “Y/N, you made me lose it!”
George put the map down and stood back on it. “A lot harder when the map doesn’t change specifically for you and show you exactly where you are, huh?” you asked, referencing the parchment the twins used for years back in Hogwarts.
They ignored you and took off down the street again, their long legs moving so fast you had to almost sprint in order to keep up the pace. This was going to be a long day.
------------------------------
Meanwhile Harry, Ron, and Ginny had made it to the Brown’s apartment in New York. Although Lavender was raised in England and attended Hogwarts, her extended family lived in the States and her parents moved there after she graduated. The apartment was rather large, but that was no surprise as the Browns were a wealthy family.
“Oh Won Won!” Ron was greeted at the door with a vibrant Lavender throwing herself into his arms. Ron laughed and spun her around, giving her a quick kiss before finally setting her down.
“Hey Lavender, I missed you.” He smiled warmly at his fiancee, soon to be his wife. After Padma left him right before he was going to propose years ago, Ron decided not to waste any time in popping the question once he and Lavender started dating. They’d only been going out for a few months before he asked, but despite the worried opinions of their friends they were convinced that this was the right thing to do.
Lavender pulled Ron down for another kiss, this one much more passionate than the last. “I missed you too.”
They were pulled apart by an awkward cough from Harry, an arm around Ginny who was covering her eyes to avoid watching her brother make out with someone in front of her.
“Sorry Harry, Ginny,” said Lavender. “It’s great to see you both. Come on in, will you, we have a few last minute preparations to attend to.”
They followed the brunette into her family’s apartment, which was decked out in reception decorations that still needed to be set up. “Where’s the rest of your group? They are coming, aren’t they?”
“Y/N and the twins are out exploring the city,” said Ginny. “I figured you probably didn’t want Fred and George to be around anything important, especially with their history of pyrotechnics. And I don’t trust them alone in the city, so Y/N’s making sure they don’t burn down half of New York.”
Lavender laughed and poured some tea for her friends. “And what about Hermione, is she at the hotel?”
The room suddenly got very tense and Harry quietly sipped his tea, trying to disappear from the awkward scene.
“Umm,” Ron began, “Hermione’s not coming. She can’t get time off at the Ministry and she’s helping watch over our apartments and take care of Luna.”
Lavender nodded sadly, sighing deeply at the news. “I guess it’s all for the best then. She never did like me, did she?”
“No, that’s not true at all,” Ron argued, taking his fiancee's hands. “She’s just...she takes a while to warm up to people. She really wishes she could be here, but you know how work is.”
The girl smiled slightly at Ron’s comforting words. “Yeah, thanks Won Won.”
He squeezed her hands gently.
“Alright then,” said Ginny, “what needs to be done? Even though Parvati is your maid of honor and I swear I’m not upset about it--” Harry elbowed Ginny hard, “--I’m still one of your bridesmaids, and I want my big brother’s wedding to be as amazing as possible. So, what should we do?”
“Well,” Lavender said, clapping her hands, “I need a new venue. The one I had was going to be absolutely gorgeous, but they tore it down early, which means we need a new spot.”
Although Lavender said these words calmly, it was obvious that she was on the verge of tears and the stress was getting to her.
“Got it,” said Ginny. “Let’s go check out the old venue and see if there’s anything we can do. I promise you Lav, this day is going to be amazing, for everyone.”
------------------------------
“This is going to be horrible!”
Hermione was pacing around her apartment, the one she shared with you and Ginny. She was packing up Ginny’s belongings for when everyone returned from the wedding. Once Ron moved out of his and Harry’s shared apartment across the hall, Ginny would move in with her fiance, leaving only you and Hermione to share the space. Hermione decided that packing for Ginny would help take her mind off of the wedding, but unfortunately her assumptions were incorrect.
“What’s the matter?” Luna asked from the sofa, leaning comfortably against a pillow with the Quibbler in her hands.
Hermione sighed as she continued to pack. “I’m just bummed about the way I left things with Ron. I shouldn’t have lied to him about having to go to work. He seemed so mad at me.”
“Oh, don’t be so hard on yourself,” the blonde said, not looking up from her reading. “If someone I was still in love with was getting married…”
Luna jumped as a vase hit the floor and shattered. She looked up to see a wide-eyed Hermione staring at her. “Still in love with?!”
“Yes,” she said matter-of-factly.
“I’m not in love with Ron!” Hermione screamed.
Realization flooded Luna’s face. “Oh, no, good! Yeah, me neither.”
Hermione sat down across from her friend, ripping the Quibbler from her hands and attention.
“Luna,” she said, “I’m not going to Ron’s wedding because he is my ex-boyfriend and that would be really uncomfortable. Not because I’m still in love with him! I mean, I like Ron as much as the next girl. Clearly I still have feelings for him, but feelings don’t mean love! I mean, I still have loving feelings for Ron. But, but that doesn’t mean that-that I’m still in love with him! I-I have sexual feelings for him, but I do love him--oh!” she gasped at her own words. “Luna why didn’t you tell me?”
“We thought you knew!” she said, surprised that Hermione was for once in her life so oblivious. “We talk about it all the time!”
“You all know?” Hermione asked. “Does, does Ron know?”
“Oh no,” Luna answered calmly. “Ron doesn’t know anything.”
Hermione started pacing once again, this time much more frantically. “Oh, I can not believe you didn’t tell me!”
“We thought you knew!” Luna replied. “It’s so obvious. That would be like telling Ginny ‘hey, you like to play Quidditch,’ or you know, ‘George, you’re gay.’”
The pacing girl stopped dead in her tracks. “What?”
“Oh please,” replied the younger blonde, “she’s always got a broom in her hand!”
------------------------------
“Alright! The Empire State Building. Hands down, best State building I’ve ever seen.” George pulled out his Muggle camera, still trying to figure out which buttons did what. They were a lot smaller than the one Colin Creevey used to carry around at Hogwarts and George still hadn’t gotten the hang of using Muggle items.
“What do you think of the Empire, Y/N?” Fred turned his head to you as he asked his question. Your legs had gotten tired from jogging to keep up with the ginormous twins so Fred had offered to let you ride on his back the rest of the way, an offer you couldn’t refuse.
You hopped down and quickly covered your eyes to hide from the bright flash of George’s camera. “I don’t know, I can’t see it with that thing blinding me, George.”
He quickly apologized, but not before snapping a picture of Fred wrapping his arms around you and smiling while you glared at the camera.
“Someone’s grouchy today,” Fred said, swaying you back and forth a few times before releasing his grip.
“I’m just tired, jet lag y’know?” He nodded and pointed to his back, letting you know it was alright to get back on. You didn’t hesitate to jump onto the redhead as he followed his brother into the massive building in front of you.
After waiting in line for what seemed like hours you finally made it onto the elevator to take you to the top of the building. George continued to take pictures of anything and everything, including you flipping him off from on Fred’s back. As the doors opened and you stepped out onto the observation deck, you were amazed by the incredible view before you.
Thousands of tiny buildings filled with thousands of tiny people stood before you, or rather below you. It was like you were on your broom and flying high in the sky, except this time time you didn’t have to focus on keeping your broom in check. You could just stand and stare.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Fred came up next to you, leaning on a railing in front of him. He hunched down enough that his face was right next to yours as the two of you stared at The Big Apple.
“It really is.” You looked around for George, but he was off pestering other tourists to take pictures of him and the city behind him. “Remember when we were playing Quidditch at the burrow, and I flew up this high and stayed there for hours?”
“How could I forget,” Fred laughed. “We had to send search parties for you, thought you had been snatched up by dementors or something.”
“Nope, just got a little distracted by the view.” You continued to watch the amazing landscape and incredible sky, not missing the looks Fred was giving you. “What’re you looking at, Weasley? Don’t tell me that I’m more enchanting than the city. I mean, we all know it’s true but try not to make it so obvious.”
You pinched his cheek and he swatted your hand away playfully. “Don’t be stupid,” he said. “I was just remembering the time I peed on you to combat the jellyfish sting.”
“Fred!” you whisper yelled, laughing as he put his hands up. “We said we would never talk about that again. I don’t need that reminder!”
“I’m sorry, it’s just too good of a story! Really shows the strength of our friendship.”
You rolled your eyes at your best friend. Technically you would’ve considered Ron to be your best friend, as you’d known him the longest and had been the closest with him for so many years. But the past few years, living close to Fred and hanging out with him almost every day, he had become the most important person in your life. He was always there to make you smile or laugh when you had a rough day, or wrap you up in a blanket and watch a movie after a horrid date with some arsehole. He was one of a kind, and you were so glad he was in your life.
“Y’know what Fred?” you asked, scooting closer to him. “If you ever got stung by a jellyfish, I’d pee on you too.”
Fred wiped away fake tears from his eyes. “I’d pee on you any day of the week, Y/N,” he said, pulling you into a tight hug.
“What the hell did I just walk into?” George was standing behind you and Fred, having only heard Fred’s last sentence. The two of you cackled with laughter, bringing George into the hug with you and just enjoying the moment.
------------------------------
“Hey Luna?” Hermione called from her bedroom. She and her friend had spent the day discussing her feelings for Ron and trying their best to help her get over him. Apparently recounting the horrors of their relationship was not helping in the slightest.
“Yeah,” Luna called back from the kitchen.
“Do you remember where the pygmy puff food is?” Her muffled voice sounded rushed and anxious, even more so than Hermione usually was.
“Yeah, it’s under the front counter of Fred and George’s shop. Why?”
Luna turned her head to see Hermione come flying into the room dragging a packed suitcase behind her. “Because I’m going to New York.”
The pregnant girl nearly had a heart attack at Hermione’s declaration. “What? What do you mean you’re going to New York?”
Hermione grabbed a few more essentials from around the apartment, rushing in order to catch the next flight. “Yeah, I have to tell Ronald that I love him. Now Luna, you take care, you don’t have those babies until I get back.”
“I--but what about all of the finding his flaws and burning his picture rituals we’ve been doing?” Luna asked, straining to stand up and chase after her friend.
Hermione easily moved past the slow-moving girl, zipping up her bag and heading to the door. “Yeah, that didn’t work. I know he loves Lavender but I have to tell him how I feel! He deserves to have all of the information and then he can make an informed decision.”
Phoebe shook her head and continued to hobble around the room. “No, Hermione, it’s too late, you missed your chance! I’m sorry, I know this must be really hard, it’s over.”
The other girl paused for a moment and took a deep breath. “Y’know what? No. It’s not over until someone says ‘I do.’” And with that she took off out of the apartment and to the streets of Diagon Alley, on her way to another country to declare her love for Ron Weasley.

I want to ask you all questions! But to start: 8, 16 and 37!
Hello Mah!! Thank you so much sweetie <3
8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
'We should travel,' Lily said, sitting on the armchair in the living room, a cup of steaming tea in her hand. 'We should get Luna out of this environment that reminds her of this... woman.'
'And go where?' Harry said.
'I don't know.. Some beach. Did Luna ever go to the beach? It was going to be fun to spend a Christmas feeling warm and sunbathing. ’
'Mom, there is a week to go before Christmas, I doubt if we can get any hotels available on this date, especially on the beach.' Harry sighed, drinking his tea. ‘And you, dad, any suggestions?’
‘Maybe we should stay home… Who knows if I dress up as Santa Claus, Luna doesn’t even remember her mother’
'Oh James, this is incredible, but please don't call Susan a mother, it's an affront to all of us.' Lily raised her hand, snorting and rolling her eyes, as if she were totally offended. James laughed softly, staring at Harry.
'But it was she who gave birth.' James said.
'Giving birth and creating are completely different things, Susan never tried to take care of her own daughter, I think she never even embraced the girl.’
I was kind and chose the Muggle AU that I'm writing ahahahaha, but I like to write about Jily being grandparents, and how Lily and James would just do anything for their granddaughter it's fun to think about the two of them being grandparents, and how they would have helped Harry. There are other dialogues in this fic that I like, but they would all be a very big spoiler
16. If you only could write one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?
Hinny, ofc, i love this idiots.
37. Talk about your current wips.
Mah... are you trying to get me to talk about my Muggle AU? LOL
Well, here it goes. I have been writing, or trying, about Sirius meeting Hestia's parents and everything going wrong. The Duke, ofc, trying to think about how to start the chapter, how to make the mystery develop without being too obvious, and thinking about other things. The story of Albus coming out, the second part is a bit angst, and it's all set in James's vision, but it’s been so long that I haven’t written in his view, which has been a little difficult, besides, I need to explain who the other OCs are, since I never mentioned them before - not here, at least. (and the story of the kiss that Harry saw, but in Mira's vision of how it all happened) And I wanted to be able to finish writing about Harry's wedding with Ginny, but I suck at writing about decoration - which is why I also didn't finish my fic where they buy their house. And last but not least, my AU Muggle that I've been working on for weeks, Harry being a single father, and Ginny a ballet dancer. It's almost over, and it's definitely my biggest one shot, and the best I've ever written, honestly.

Christmas in Quarantine
New Story! FFN and AO3
Quarantine has a way of making us want to have the best things in life, the things we can't have now. For Harry and Ginny, this involves hauling out the holy, playing carols, holiday treats, and a little of Christmas, right this very minute. Modern Muggle AU.
This little story was requested and prompted by several wonderful people on Tumblr. @gryffindormischief named the fic and wanted it written for Hinny. @petals-to-fish (who put up so many wonderful fics in one day for all of us and it really was Christmas) wanted to see a snowball fight, baking cookies, and mistletoe kissing. @inakindofdaydream (who adores Christmas after my own heart) wanted to see them almost getting caught by Santa Clause. And @shining-jul-of-hope who pointed out that it's nowhere near Christmas right now. :P I'm so grateful to these lovely people for sharing in the magic with me, and trusting me with their fabulous ideas!
For those of us not part of the UK, cornflour, apparently is what we call corn starch.
Christmas in Quarantine
It was strange, how little Harry Potter's life changed with the Pandemic, but as a blockbuster author who spent most of his time in his office writing the next installment of his fantasy novels, he was more or less socially distanced to begin with. What changed the most was that Ginny was home now. The football leagues were all canceled and that meant Ginny's professional career had been put on hold until further notice.
For the first week or so, it was fun. Harry put off the manuscript in exchange for keeping Ginny company in all the best ways. But then his publisher was emailing him about maybe getting more done since the world had shut down, and his editor started calling and so Harry reluctantly went back into work mode.
He figured Gin would be alright. She had the treadmill and other assorted workout equipment and her team did daily Zoom meetings now. When she wasn't goofing around with the team - he's walked into the kitchen when she's in those meetings, he knows what they're talking about - both their mothers liked to call and check-in, Marlene hosted a Kindle book club now, and Luna taught painting lessons through live videos, so Harry felt confident that Ginny didn't need him to be underfoot trying to "entertain" her.
But he started to wonder if he had underestimated what social distancing would do to his wife when Harry walked out of his office for a snack and heard the sound of... show tunes?
"Gin?" Harry poked his head into the sitting room.
"Alright, Potter?" Ginny was lounging on the sofa in front of the telly, watching something that looked horrendous on their high def screen.
"What's this?" Harry gestured to the telly.
"My mum always said I should watch the musicals she loved as a kid." Ginny shrugged. "And I've got time now, so I thought I'd give a few a go."
Harry chuckled, "You had me worried there. I've never heard you listen to show tunes and I wondered if you'd gone stir crazy."
Ginny rolled her eyes at him. "Don't let that book keep you past dinner again."
Harry shoved his hand in his hair. "I've got an alarm today, I'll be all yours the moment it goes off."
Ginny's returning smile left him wondering if maybe he ought to move that alarm up an hour.
After a week of Ginny watching the musicals her mum grew up with, Harry became accustomed to the show tunes playing from the sitting room. Gin would put on whatever one he assumed her mum had recommended and Harry would come out to assorted big band songs playing. It reminded him of going to his dad's parents' home when he was little, which felt oddly comforting given the way the world was attempting to implode upon itself.
And that was probably why Harry didn't think to question Gin's newfound obsession.
And when she started watching the same one at the start of every day, well Harry just figured that she really liked the music or the story, after all, the bits that Harry had seen were set during the Great Slump and he was starting to wonder if the world wasn't heading for another 21st-century repeat.
Harry was a bit taken aback after a week of her starting the day with the musical Auntie Mame to walk into the kitchen to grab lunch and find Ginny baking mince pies.
"Alright, Gin?"
Ginny grinned up at him from the pie crust she was rolling out.
"Thought I'd make us a bit of a treat."
Harry brushed some of the flour from her cheek.
"Mince pies?"
"You love mince pies." She set the rolling pin down to smear a floured hand across his cheek.
Harry tried to pull back but wasn't quick enough and laughed as he reached for a towel.
"You're right, so I guess the proper response should have been more along the lines of 'thank you' or maybe enthusiastic snogging?"
"I'll take the thank you now and the enthusiastic snogging after these pies are baked and cooled." Ginny kissed him and Harry moved closer to her, letting his lips move slowly against her, loving the way she melted against him.
"Thank you for making mince pies in April. I'll make sure that you get far more than enthusiastic snogging once I'm done working on this blasted novel."
Ginny bit down on his lip. "I can't wait."
Harry was surprised by Ginny baking mince pies. But the next morning he was downright floored to find their Christmas decorations out and mostly up when he stepped out to refill his tea.
"Gin? What on Earth?"
"We need a little Christmas, Harry." Ginny adjusted where she hung an ornament on their tree.
"It's April…" Was all he managed to say as he realized how much she'd managed to get done in the roughly three hours he'd been writing.
"Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!" Ginny laughed and smiled at the telly where Lucille Ball's character was talking about building a home for Jewish refugees.
"Right…"
Ginny moved back to the last couple of boxes of their Christmas decorations.
"I have a surprise at lunch. So don't work through it."
Harry blinked. "This isn't a surprise?"
"We need a little Christmas, Harry!" Ginny pulled the Santa hat or if the box and stuck it on her head.
And then it clicked.
"Are we in that musical?" He gestured to the telly.
Ginny huffed and dug into the box closest to her. "Well, I thought it looked like fun!"
"I can't sing," Harry grinned and moved to the boxes with Ginny. "But we could haul out the holy, maybe fill the stockings, turn on the carols."
Ginny's eyes filled back up with hope, "Bake Christmas cookies, have a snowball fight, watch for Santa?"
Harry slipped his hand into the box next to him as he smiled down at Ginny.
"I have no idea how we'll have a snowball fight, but yes, I'll go close out of my document for today and we'll have ourselves a little Christmas."
Then he lifted out what he'd been digging through the box for.
"But shouldn't we start our Christmas off right?" Harry held up the mistletoe over their heads.
Ginny chuckled, "Very smooth, Potter."
"I had to write a few romance pieces at university." Harry leant closer to her.
"Why have I never seen them?" Ginny smirked, leaning back away from him.
"They were rubbish. I tossed them the moment I had the grade." Harry finally pulled her close enough to capture her lips.
She laughed against him. "Go tell your boss you're out for the day while I go hang this above our bed."
Ginny snatched the mistletoe from his fingers and skipped to their bedroom.
By the time Harry had finished saving everything and putting a few ideas down in his notebook, Ginny was standing at his office door in her bikini with his swimming trunks in hand.
"What happened to Christmas?"
"I figured out how to have a snowball fight!" Ginny tossed him his trunks. "Come on!"
Then she headed for their balcony.
Harry couldn't change fast enough.
"Here," Ginny shoved a bowl at him as he stepped out the door to join her. "This is your ammunition, use it wisely because I'm not using any more of our cornflour for it."
"Cornflour?"
"Yes, and hair conditioner, which I've already told Amazon to send more of."
Harry laughed at how Ginny had moved their two patio chairs to make a battle line.
"I can't believe you managed to get us snow when it's 19 degrees out." Harry stuck his hand in his bowl of fake snow and grimaced at the texture.
"YouTube," Ginny shrugged and then jumped to one side of the chair battle line she'd created.
The moment Harry shut the door, she threw a ball of the 'snow' at this bareback and he grimaced at the way it felt sliding along his spine.
"This is an awful cross between that wretched Halloween slime we made in primary and store-bought decor snow."
"Wouldn't know," Ginny shrugged, "seeing as I haven't been hit by any of it."
Harry didn't move fast enough as she threw another 'snow ball' at him and it slid down his side. He groaned as the feeling of it crawling along his side sent shivers across his skin before reaching into his own bowl and tossing a large handful back at Ginny. She ducked and it splatted against the wall behind her.
There wasn't really much 'snow' between the two of them and when he missed Ginny by a hair for the third time, Harry decided to go all in. He jumped up on the patio chairs and pushed his foot on the back of the chair, tipping it over and taking his wife by surprise as he dumped his bowl over her head.
Ginny yelled and shoved him back onto the toppled chair as she threw the last of her snow at his face. Then she collapsed on top of him and laughed as they tried to keep the 'snow' from their eyes.
"I think a shower is in order." Harry pushed his caked glasses up into his hair. "And then what would you like to do next?"
"I have everything out for some Christmas cookies, icing and all." Ginny wiped some snow from her forehead before it could slide completely into her eyes.
"Baking and Christmas carols?"
"And maybe a bit of something else…" Ginny moved to kiss him but immediately backed away when more 'snow' tried to sneak into her eyes.
Harry laughed and pushed them to stand. "Lead a blind man to the shower, won't you?"
After a long shower, Harry wrapped his arms around Ginny's waist as carols played through her phone and she measured out the flour.
"Aside from the tank top, this feels like Christmas."
"Maybe we should spend Christmas in a warmer climate from now on," Ginny brushed a bit of flour on his nose.
"Our mums would probably hunt us down for something like that."
"Ooo, adventure and a holiday, sounds like a book waiting to be a bestseller."
Harry laughed and helped with the cookies and icing. Slipping his phone out here and there to jot down a few notes.
"I thought you told the boss you were off for the day." Ginny pouted as Harry set his phone down to ice another cookie.
"Just writing a few ideas down," Harry leant over and kissed her cheek.
"Typing, not writing," she teased.
"You said you had a surprise for me and to not work through lunch." Harry redirected their conversation.
"Well, I was going to use it to convince you to go along with having a bit of Christmas in April. But since you decided to jump on board without it, I'm saving it for tonight." She bit her lip.
"Tonight, eh?" Harry stood and moved to the fridge.
"Alright, Potter?" Ginny frowned.
"I know that look," Harry started pulling out sandwich fixings. "I'm going to need more than sugar cookies and icing for lunch if you've got that look."
Her laughter felt more genuine in that moment than it had since the world hit pause, and Harry grinned.
They really did need a little Christmas.
They spent the rest of the day 'virtual caroling'. For which his parents not only thanked them but joined in, taking the phone along as they dug up all the Christmas boxes and argued if they could thaw the ham overnight or if they should just make whatever they had on hand for a family Christmas dinner the next day hosted via Zoom meeting.
Harry scrounged up everything for a shepherds pie dinner and they put on A Christmas Carol after as they ate the iced cookies and drank hot chocolate for dessert.
It felt like Christmas.
Harry felt light and he felt happy and he could see the happiness and lightness in Ginny as well. They definitely needed a little Christmas in all of this pandemic insanity.
"Thank you," he kissed her hairline.
Ginny smiled up at him, snuggling closer to his side. "Thank you for being on board. This has been so much fun. I forgot about how awful it is out there."
Harry kissed her, letting himself indulge in the softness of her lips, the taste of chocolate and sugar on her lips.
"Do I still get to see that surprise?" Harry kissed along her jawline to the spot behind her ear that made her breath catch.
Ginny laughed, "Wait here."
She pushed up and slid out of the room with a confidence that made it a strenuous exercise in self-control for Harry to not follow her out of the sitting room.
To distract himself he took out his phone and jotted down a few more notes.
"I might just throw your phone in your office and lock the door."
Harry quickly locked said phone and tossed it on the side table.
Then he looked up.
Ginny had on a Father Christmas cloak, white wig, and a set of glasses that had the white beard attached.
"Wow…"
Ginny laughed and undid the belt that held the robe shut.
Harry's initial confusion dropped instantly as his wife's body was revealed, no imagination needed.
"We're losing the beard," he smirked and moved to gently pull the glasses-beard combo off Ginny's face.
"What Father Christmas doesn't have a long white beard?" She teased as her fingers moved along his waistband.
Harry kissed her slowly as his hands moved slower against her freckled skin.
"The one who is actually my wife," he pulled back before sweeping Ginny into his arms and carrying her back to their bed, and the mistletoe hanging over it.
The sun long set and the moon high in their bedroom window, Harry waited patiently until Ginny's breathing became even and he was sure she was fast asleep. As quietly as he learned to move when he was a child spying on his Christmas gifts, Harry snuck out of their bed and down to his office.
It took the better part of an hour to get it how he wanted it. Then it took another half-hour to get the printer to print it the way he wanted. And another half-hour after that to find the freaking wrapping paper. But after roughly two hours of trying to be silent, Harry snuck into the sitting room to set the gift under the tree.
He went to grab this phone from the side table when a cloaked image came into his peripheral vision and he almost cried out as all the anxiety of a child being caught by Father Christmas came rushing up at him from years as a boy trying to spy on Christmas gifts.
"Why are you out here?" Ginny's groggy voice sounded and Harry felt relief rush through him like a tidal wave.
"Just grabbing my phone. I forgot to plug it in to charge while we slept."
"Come to bed, you're how I don't freeze to death at night."
Harry slipped his arms around Ginny and led them back to bed with a smile on his face.
He hadn't been caught by Father Christmas, but more importantly, his wife would still get her surprise on Christmas morning.
And just like childhood, Harry awoke far too early, and far too excited to go back to sleep. Though rather than for what he would receive, it was for what he was giving.
"Gin," he nuzzled her hairline and kissed her cheek.
Ginny made a sound that was a cross between a moan and a grunt.
"Don't you want to see what Father Christmas left for you?"
"I'm Father Christmas and I didn't leave anything out because it's not actually December the 25th." She mumbled into her pillow.
Harry chuckled. "Let's just go have a look."
Ginny blinked her eyes open and frowned. "Only if I get to come right back to bed."
Harry put his hand over his heart. "I promise, well go see if there are any surprises and then come right back to bed."
"Fine," Ginny pushed up from the bed, her Father Christmas robe slipping from her shoulders. "But if this is how you're going to be with children then we're rethinking our future plans."
Harry laughed and forced himself not to run full tilt down the hall and leave his adorably sleepy wife in the dust.
He held his breath as Ginny moved to the tree and his lone gift that sat wrapped below its branches.
She turned to look up at him, bewildered, "What's this?"
"Open it," he shrugged.
Ginny pulled the wrapping away and slid the booklet from the manilla envelope he'd used to hold it.
"A Holiday and an Adventure," She read aloud. "Harry, what is this?"
Harry stuck a hand in his hair. "Well since you're not on the team for the foreseeable future, and you've always got the best ideas when I'm stuck in a story, I thought maybe, maybe you'd like to write a book together, you and me. All those pages in the booklet are the notes I was jotting down all day yesterday. And I've organized them out the way I do with my novels. If you like the idea and we finish the story, we could send it over to my editor. See what she thinks."
Ginny looked up from the booklet, eyes wide. "You want to write a book with me?"
Harry smiled, "I kind of already do. You're my sounding board and you find more of my plot holes than my editor does. So I guess I'm really asking you to be an active participant so we can put your name on the cover too."
Ginny looked back down at the booklet before launching herself at him. Harry caught her and managed to spin them around so he fell on the sofa and not his back.
"So is this a yes?" Harry chuckled as he kissed her hairline.
Ginny kissed him enthusiastically before jumping up. "Come on! I want to start right now!"
Harry snagged her around the middle before she could go running off. "What happened to wanting to go right back to bed?"
"Don't be ridiculous," Ginny laughed, "do you have any idea how badly I've wanted some real control in your novels?"
"Now you have a story to be in control of." Harry kissed her. "Happy Christmas, Gin."
Ginny's smile shone like the rising run out their sitting room window. "Happy Christmas, Harry."

Behind the Scenes of Fic Writing: 30 Questions for Authors
This is such a cool tag! Thanks @breaniebree
What was the first fandom and/or pairing that you wrote fic for?
Hinny, all the way! It wasn’t good, but it was Hinny.
Do you participate in any writing events or challenges throughout the year? If so, what do you like about them?
I tend to participate in them semi-often on SIYE. I find them a good way to get some creative juices flowing with a topic or subject I wouldn’t have thought about on my own.
Do you write fics from start or finish, or jump around?
I go chapter by chapter. I would confuse myself too much if I started writing chapter 5 but then headed over to chapter 12. Also, I kinda don’t plan everything that far ahead. Which I’ll explain more in the next question lol
Do you outline before you start writing? If so, how far do you stray from that outline?
I do a quick overall base of what I want to do, who the enemies are, important moments I really want to happen, but I never do a full outline. A lot of the time I will have something planned for 5 chapters in the future, but no idea how to get there. I let inspiration strike me and go from there.
What is the perfect environment for you to write in?
A hot cup of tea, music playing softly in the background, and an empty house. It’s perfect when everything is quiet except for my music and my mechanical keyboard.
If you’re really concentrating, how many words can you write in a day?
Hmmm. I’ve never tested myself but I think the most I’ve ever done is 10,000 in one day. I wrote two chapters of “Only the Best” in one day and I aimed to make every chapter in that story at least 5,000 words. So I’d guess around 10,000.
Which part of writing do you struggle with most?
Editing. I hate re-reading my work only looking for flaws. If I were to re-read my work I’d want it to be for enjoyment and nostalgia, but alas in order to find enjoyment in the writing it needs to be edited well lol.
Do you listen to music while you write? If so, share a song that’s been inspiring you lately.
There is this live version of Can’t Go on Without You by KALEO that I love. Actually I’m listening to it right now. I listen to it at least once when I’m writing.
Do you prefer to write AUs, canon divergence, or canon-compliant fic?
AU”s all the way! I love taking a different world than the original and trying to fit everything into this different situation. I love Muggle AU’s the best for some reason.
Do you enjoy writing dialogue, exposition, or plot the most?
Dialogue is so much fun. Trying to come up with a witty comeback or heartwrenching final line is so intense and interesting.
If you could only write angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your life, which would it be?
I love me some fluff. Like sometimes I go out with every intention on making things angst, and then they turn int fluff lol.
Is there a trope you haven’t written yet but really want to?
I don’t think I’ve done a “forced to share a bed” fic and that could be fun
Is there a trope you wouldn’t write if it was the last trope on earth?
Does slow burn count as a trope? I just can’t handle waiting so long for my ship together lol
If you were stuck on a desert island with only two characters, which would you pick?
Ginny Weasley and Hermione. Hermione because she could get us off the island somehow, and Ginny because she and I would have a great time cracking jokes while we helped Hermione.
A Hollywood producer tells you that they want to film just one of your fics. Which fic would you want it to be?
Hmmm. I think I would dig a film of Doom Days or Covert Love. Both have everything needed for a movie. Action, romance, and twists you don’t see coming lol.
What is your most underrated fic?
I wouldn’t say I have any underrated fics because they always are so much better received than I ever intend… that being said, I would love if more people read Doom Days
What fic are you most proud of?
This goes back to the last question. I spent so long planning and plotting Doom Days and I am extremely happy with the way it’s come out.
What is a line/scene you’re really proud of? Give us the DVD commentary for that scene.
Well because I don’t want to give to much away I’ll show off this once part.
His lips curled with forced levity.
I love the word levity and I really wanted to use it and then I thought about how when I’m making a bad joke in a bad moment I always smile to make people understand how I truly feel. Such a simple sentence brought me so much pride.
Who is the easiest/hardest character for you to write about? Why?
I find that I struggle with Hermione. She’s so much more… straight edge than I tend to focus on, so I have a hard time adding her into stories because I’m afraid I won’t do her justice.
What’s your favorite minor character you’ve written?
Right now it’s Prue from Covert Love. She is my own created character and I’ve had so much fun crafting this backstory that revolves around.... Things I wouldn’t talk about here ;)
What is the one fic that got away?
It hasn’t gotten away yet! I can still write it…. But when I was on a volcano in Spain I saw an adorable meet-cute and I really wanna make it a Hinny meet-cute. I just need to dedicate time… which I never seem to have lol
Have you cried while writing a fic?
Ummm…. I don’t think there have ever been tears but I was hit hard while writing the argument between Harry and Ginny in Covert Love.
If you had to remix one of your own fics, which would it be and how would you remix it?
Hmmm. I think I would have to say Only the Best because I would have liked to add more hints towards who was the culprit. I don’t think I put out enough clues so the reader could have had a chance to figure it out on their own.
How did you come up with title for Covert Love?
I knew I was going to be focusing a lot on the undercover element in this story but the love aspect was also going to be huge so I looked up words that meant undercover and really liked Covert. And it’s also a play on words because Harry and Ginny need to keep their love covert from everyone so Harry doesn’t get in trouble ;)
Which idea came to you first in Covert Love?
It was literally just the general idea of Harry being undercover and falling in love with Ginny. The idea to have her be under his protection started to form as I explored ways for them to meet. And when I decided to have him be unable to tell her about his job… I knew I had something I would love creating and working on. I knew I would have drama and so many intense moments I would be so proud of the story, which is always my goal.
Which part of Covert Love was the hardest to write?
The moment where Harry and Ginny fight because he didn’t tell her about his job. I knew the discovery scene was going to be vital and it always hurts to write Ginny and Harry fighting. So it felt like a lot of pressure and I think overall it came out really well!
If you were ever to do a sequel to Covert Love, what do you think might happen in it?
Hmmm… well I don’t have any plans on doing a sequel at this time, but that’s because I haven’t finished writing the first one yet :P
In Covert Love, what is a happy, post-fic headcanon you have about Hinny?
Harry and Ginny getting to stay together when everything is said and done… maybe a kid or two that love quidditch as much as their mom
A word that describes my WIP
Strive. Everyone is striving for something, even the bad guy. It all comes back to the person and their goals and how much effort they are willing to put into getting what they want/need.
Tell us an idea for a long fic you want to write in the future.
Well… I haven’t started it at all and the research will take a while, but I wanna do a Muggle AU treasure hunter fic. Harry is a treasure hunter who is out searching for a famous lost treasure. While out on an adventure, he runs into a wild red head who is somehow roped into helping Harry. They hate each other at first but fall in love with each other as the adventure goes on. Also, there is another hunter out for the glory of finding this treasure and they have to deal with that crazy bloke and his men. If you’ve played the Uncharted games you’ve seen the format and I’d love to do something with it! Let me know what you guys think!

Hey this is a prompt for what the changling would be like if it was drinny instead of hinny. I I know you probably don't want to write anything right now but if you could at least give us a glimpse that would be great. Also I really love your story and the changling has helped me though som tough times
I’ve been thinking about this a lot. First, because as I was writing The Changeling, while I intended it to be Ginny/Harry, there were moments where I was like, ‘oh, right here it could veer off into a different pairing’. Such as Antonia, Neville, Smita, Luna, Tobias, and yes even Draco. I mean, the possibilities are always fun to play with. It’s why I like fanfiction as a media to begin with.
Someone actually left a comment on Armistice I think that kinda made me pause and go, ‘wow, what an interesting observation.’ What they said is that Armistice Ginny/Harry hits a lot of the dynamics and issues that many people find appealing about Harry/Draco. And it’s definitely true in the sense of Slytherin/Gryffindor bias and friction, and also as far as the opposites attract kinds of thing. (At least in the sense of: You don’t outwardly react to this thing in the way I think people should outwardly react to this thing, why are you the way you are.) Of course, a major difference between the two dynamics is that Slytherin!Ginny/Harry do not have a history of antagonism or the moral murkiness of Ginny being an actual blood supremacist or coming from that background, depending on your interpretation. It’s what makes Armistice Harry/Ginny an interesting pairing because while on the surface they have a lot of differences, at their core, their inner beliefs and values, they have so much in common. While I am not saying Harry/Draco is impossible to do, it does take a lot of work in my mind to make it ‘work’ (whatever that means. people can like what they like, and I am just saying what it would need to work for me. Which many a drarry fic I have read have managed to do.)
But you didn’t ask about Harry/Draco. You asked about Slytherin!Ginny/Draco. I suppose my initial reaction is that while of course you could re-imagine the story with that, I think it would take Ginny in a completely different, not necessarily very positive direction. I mean, she might have been able to help Draco take a different path…I mean, maybe, but it’s equally possible that he would drag her down into some stuff. The thing with Slytherin!Ginny, and I would say Gryffindor!Ginny as well due to their shared Tom past, is that neither of them have any faith in the idea that people are capable of ‘fixing’ each other. That is a lie they know not to trust. Ginny is not the sort of person to look at a boy and be like, “oh, he just needs to be saved.” (Unlike another Gryffindor we all know and love, lol) And Draco isn’t really making real strides to change his worldview as much as just survive, imo. Not to mention there is some of the same stuff we see in the Harry/Draco dynamic where Slytherin!Ginny has had a very antagonistic relationship with Draco, to the point that he definitely verbally and physically bullied her and that is hard to get around for me. (Not impossible, just difficult.) So Ginny attaching herself to Draco would probably be in the context of her second year where she is just so desperately trying to fit in. It would be to buy into a vision of herself as inherently something dark. Broken. I think it would be terrible for her in that context. Of course, if we’re talking later, like when Ginny sits with Draco while he’s crying…sorry, I’m trying, but I just can’t see it happening. I feel like Draco would have to be changed in some fundamental way, and maybe it’s possible that you could write a story where Ginny being sorted there does create a ripple that slowly widens over time. I’m not sure.
I think the other thing at play is that while I find the Gryffindor/Slytherin dynamic interesting, the Slytherin/Slytherin dynamic is less so for me. Or maybe I just haven’t properly wrapped my brain around it yet.
Either way, thanks so much for giving me such an interesting thing to think about. I don’t feel I actually answered as much as just word-vomited all over you, so sorry about that. :) And I am completely humbled if my work was able to make anything even slightly easier for you. I wish you all the best.

Good consequences
Ginny arrives home from practice and finds Harry in a predicament.
Hinny. NSFW. On AO3
Hearing the whistle signaling the end of practice, Ginny Weasley started to descend still holding the quaffle, which she had controlled for most of the game.
“Great practice, girls. Weasley.”
Ginny left for the showers quickly, planning on being home as soon as possible. Saturday morning training meant fewer hours with her boyfriend, who had weekends off, but was very busy during the week with Auror assignments and reports. The young chaser took a fast shower getting rid of the sweat making her red hair plastered to her head and of most of the mud. She was nowhere properly clean when she got out, but got dressed in her shorts and t-shirt anyway.
Maybe I can have another one at home, she thought, with company.
Ginny checked the changing room clock while tying her trainers. The practice had finished a little late, and so Harry would probably be at home already. He had used his Ginny-less morning helping Ron and George do the inventory at the shop, but the couple was planning on having lunch together at their shared flat and spending a much-needed afternoon in bed after a busy week during which they had barely seen each other.
In bed, but not sleeping at all, though Ginny with a sly smile while getting in line to Floo home from Holyhead.
“Fun weekend planned, Weasley?” Asked Gabby Jones, the starting keeper of the team and one who always ready to tease the other players.
Lost in thought of exactly what she would be doing in a couple of hours, Ginny came back to reality to a dozen girls looking at her with suggestive looks and grins. Her relationship with the Boy-Who-Lived was constantly in the news, to their dismay. Her fellow harpies thought that incredibly funny and never lost an opportunity to make fun of her for that. However, if anyone else were to say something rude to Ginny, they were the fiercest, most protective friends a girl could wish for.
“You bet.” Answered Ginny with a smile and an exaggerated wink. She Flood home still hearing whistles and cat-calls.
She stepped out of the fireplace already getting her shoes off and calling for her boyfriend. She spotted him right away sitting on the coach.
“Did you make lunch or should we order something?”
The notion of muggle takeout had amazed Ginny from the time Harry mentioned it offhandedly in one of the times she went to see his and Ron's first flat after they left the Burrow. It was her last Christmas holidays as a Hogwarts student and she was having dinner with him, although under strict orders not to stay over.
Harry hadn't said anything since she arrived, and she noticed for the first time his sweaty brows and heavy breathing.
“What's wrong? Are you hurt?”
His eyes finally opened to meet hers and he gave a deep sigh.
“Gin, thank Merlin you are home.”
“Are you hurt?” She asked again looking over his body in search of visible wounds. A tiny part of her mind was angry with him for getting hurt today of all days. Everything she had planned... But the biggest part was in 'taking care of Harry' mode, something she didn't particularly enjoy, as it meant he was hurt in the first place, but a necessity since they started living together and she was the one he came home to after assignments from the Ministry.
He had a pillow on his lap, which he raised now so she could see what the problem was. At first, her brain didn't really register it, as she was expecting something like tentacles growing or some other clearly curse-related injury. What she was faced with, though, was a huge and obvious tent in his trousers.
“Hum, ok…” She said slowly. “Did your other girlfriend leave you like that and now you need my help?”
She meant it as a joke, but her heart stopped a little at the thought that some other witch had gotten this kind of reaction from him.
“Ha ha. Very funny.” His face was contorted and his forced smile was more of a grimace.
“This is your brothers' work.”
Her mind went blank for a second and a wild thought occurred to her: Is this his way of telling me he is gay?
“Ok, I guess I need a little more of an explanation here.”
“I was at the shop today, wasn't I? I spent hours carrying boxes this way and that, so George offered me a glass of water-”
“Oh no,” She interrupted him. “you drank something George offered you inside the shop of all places?”
He looked at her exasperated and exhaled loudly before answering her.
“I was doing them a bloody favour and- Argh, if anything I think you being here is making it worse.”
Ginny couldn't help but stare at his covered cock and saw it twitch. She realized she was getting more and more aroused; sure, she already was before coming here, and the view was certainly something to behold. However, that was definitely a magic stimulant in place... she could see clearly in her mind what she wanted to do...
“Are you enjoying this?” He asked in exasperation. “I can bloody smell you getting wet from over here.”
“No, you can't!” Ginny answered indignantly pressing her legs together in a reflex. “Let's focus, ok? I gather you tried, hum, solving this on your own?”
“Of course, I've been trying for hours.”
“This is classically George and Ron, isn't it? Make a bloke hard as a rock and he can't even-”
“Can you please discuss this later, Gin?”
“Of course, sorry. So, hum, do you want to go to St Mungo's?”
He looked at her as if she had gone crazy.
“I can't appear there like this!” He pointed to his crouch to emphasize his point. As if my attention could be on anything else, thought Ginny.
“Well, obviously going back to those bastards and pleading for an antidote is out of the question.” Ginny knew they were both way too proud to admit defeat to her brothers.
“Obviously.”
“Ok, so we are thinking I can solve this, yeah?” She asked already sitting by his side on the couch and reaching for his trousers.
“Oh, yes, please.”
He helped her get his clothes off until she was graced with the view of a completely naked Harry with his cock pointing upwards. She could definitely few her own arousal damping her knickers at this point and couldn't avoid licking her lips in anticipation. She heard him groaning and looked up to see him staring at her, his green eyes dark and piercing.
She put her hand around him and he sighed again, but this time clearly relieved. Ginny looked up and saw him with his eyes closed and head bent on the couch, a small smile on his lips. She had set a rhythm already and could feel him pulsing under her hand.
You know, this isn't so different from what I wanted to do today anyway. She said with a small laugh, but soon realized he was far too gone to listen.
She continued to work his length with her Quidditch-calloused hand. He had shown her how to jerk him off years ago, before they started shagging, properly. She was the one who insisted on it, of course, he was always so concerned about pushing her at the beginning, but Ginny thought they should start exploring each other bodies, learn what they liked and what they didn't. In the months after the battle, between nightmares, funerals, sun-shining afternoons playing Quidditch and long nights discussing past, present and future together, that is what they had done.
She used her other hand to lightly stroke his sac and he groaned again. Ginny leaned over and put her lips on the head of his penis, kissing and pressing her tongue on the tip, tasting his pre-cum.
“Is it working, do you think?” She asked between kisses all over his cock.
“Definitely, yeah.”
She opened her mouth and put as much of him in as she could, sucking and using her tongue on the underside. She started to bob her head up and down, still holding the base with her right hand and playing with his balls with her left. They say women are multitaskers, she thought amused.
“Gin, do you-” Harry was speaking more easily now, but his voice was husky, as it always was during sex. “Do you want to- I'm getting close.”
Oh, yeah, I want to, she thought, letting go of him with a pop. He groaned a bit, but knew what was coming, so opened his eyes to see she taking off her clothes, much more hurriedly than she had imagined herself doing while planning this at her shower earlier.
“Do you want me to...” He asked pointing his fingers at her knickers, which she was starting to take off.
“Later. No need now.” She realized she was the one breathing heavily now.
Rid of her clothes, she straddled him on the couch, and he immediately took a nipple on his mouth, pressing his tongue on it and biting lightly. She moaned, touching her swollen clit with her thumb before slowly lowering herself on his cock. They both made contend noises at the pleasure it created, and he had to take his mouth off her breast so she could start moving.
His hands went to her waist, and she lowered her head to give him a kiss. Did we really go this far without even kissing? She thought amused, but soon lost all conscious thinking, as his tongue started exploring her mouth and their movements became faster and more erratic. She could feel sweat running from both of their bodies, could smell it in the air. Her body was getting limp as she sensed her orgasm approaching, so it was pretty much left to him to move his own hips and lift her with his hands.
Ginny could feel the magic of whatever was given to Harry run through her, the sensations all exacerbated. He groaned and she could feel his body shivering under her, all around her. She lowered her hand to press her thumb on her clit again, and then she was right there with him, tensing and relaxing all over. They both kept moving until the last spams were over, and then she dropped on top of him, her body spent.
“I think,” Harry said, embracing her and touching his lips briefly to her neck. “That I’m not going to kill your brother, after all.”
“We should buy some of this, whatever it is.” Ginny answered, resting her cheek on top of his head. “Just need to make sure we are always together when we take it.” She added as an afterthought, and he chuckled.
--
Sunday lunch at the Burrow was an established tradition now that all the kids had moved out. It was a raucous affair, with so many Weasleys and partners around.
Harry and Ginny came out of the Floo a little later than intended and were presented to a very homely scene: Fleur sitting down with a hand on her big pregnant belly while talking to Hermione and Angelina. Ginny talked a bit to her sisters-in-law, but her mind was one two certain brothers who needed a little talk from her.
When she entered the kitchen a few minutes later, Harry already had a Butterbeer bottle in his hand and was talking to her mother. Ginny absent-minded answered some covert comments about how thin she was and when could Molly finally start planning their wedding. She knew her mother meant well, and that was her way to make sure everything was ok with her daughter.
Soon, Molly left to let the women in the living room know the food was ready and served outside, and Harry and Ginny were joined in the kitchen by Ron and George, just who Ginny wanted to see.
“So, Harry, had a good evening yesterday?” George snickered.
He and Ron looked at each other in a such a way that Ginny almost forgot she was about to get the better of them, as she thought of a million other times when there was another red-head sharing that expression with George. But she knew that sinking feeling very well now, and she was sure her brother would find all of this extremely funny.
“What the hell did you do to me?” Harry asked, in what she supposed was meant to sound indignant, but they both knew he was feeling really good about his evening. And night. And wee hours.
“That, my esteemed sponsor, was a sample from a new product in the adult line, free of charge.” Answered George proudly.
“I don’t believe you really thought that one through, dear brother.” Ginny couldn’t hide her superior smirk any longer.
“What do you mean?” Asked George suspiciously.
“How do you think Harry resolved his, er, issue?”
Ginny could see exactly when the thought occurred to her brothers, as a very similar disgusted expression appeared on both of their faces.
“Yeah, that was what I thought.” How they could possibly not consider the fact that their little product was meant for couples and she and Harry were the couple, was beyond her.
They looked from her smug-looking sister to Harry, who winked at them and raised his butterbeer as in toast.
