I've answered this before but I was reading galwhorants' answers and suddenly the words "world shaking" popped into my head, and I remembered that the main site I used to read Ami/Makoto (sailors Mercury and Jupiter from Sailor Moon) fanfic was on worldshaking.net so I looked it up and that site has been rebuilt and some of the fanfic restored! So if you are curious about what babyqueer me was reading ~1997 it's still around and you can go see for yourself (shout-out to the author & curator Erica Friedman who was [and still is] a mentor and community-builder for so many of us; she was the one who organized Yuricon which is still an excellent resource if you want to get into or understand the history of yuri!).

Last song

I'm a quiet TXT fan and I've been enjoying their new mini album; the last song I listened to was Quarter Life (which has the unfortunate effect of making me feel old since I'm long past the quarter-life crisis age lolol but it makes me nostalgic for the pop punk heydays):

Currently reading

I finished book 1 and am chipping away at book 2 of MoDu (Silent Reading); it is such a satisfying read! I need more hours in the day so I can keep reading it.

Last movie

I just finished the short Burmese film Khar Taw Mi (another Trust Entertainment work centered around Thingyan, this time around the cultural performance aspects rather than the water party parts, so lots of traditional music and dance). If we're talking feature film, hmm, I think it was either Doi Boy (2023) or Past Lives (2023), I can't remember the order I watched them in; I watched them both in March (and both were very good).

Currently craving

Honestly, what I most want right now is spoons to do the things I've been dragging my feet on doing. Food-wise, I was giving a colleague tips on visiting Newfoundland and now I'm craving soft-serve creamsicle ice cream, which I've only ever had in St. John's.

“Go on”, the Doctor said. -> Like you‘re my universe and I‘m your stars (tensimm, part 4, based on ep: closing time. This was a gift for my dear friend @thecreatorfromgallifrey <3, love you, which wasn’t a work that was planned to exist at all, but happened anyway and wraps it up nicely.)

Her thief stole another Time Lord. -> Words (tensimm, but from a tardis pov. Based on ep: The doctor’s wife. Also part 3, as I couldn‘t stay away from writing them.)

Eleven. -> Ice (tensimm through S5, part 2 of my Three little words series, which got so much more emotional than I could have ever planned it to be. Whoops.)

“You’ve got to be kiddin‘ me.” -> Fire (tensimm travelling through S4 after the Valiant. This is the fic that started as a simple and fun oneshot, then got 3 bus rides, a 14 hour flight and a 2 week road trip away from me and turned into a 90k series by the end of it. Still don‘t know how that happened.)

“You mean like-” Crowley leaned forward in his seat. “a sudden rainstorm. -> Just a bit unlikely (Aziracrow fluff, also written to cope. Which I still can‘t.)

“I can’t see what’s so bad about knowing the difference between good and evil anyway.” -> 5 times Crowley almost kissed Aziraphale and the one time he finally did (and it shattered his heart) (Aziracrow through the ages, written to cope with the emotional trainwreck that was the end of S2. By writing even more heartbreak. Well done, me.)

The words are still ringing in Bucky´s ears. -> Afterglow (Winterbaron, my first ever work back in my marvel phase. Oh god. What a time. It was such a struggle trying to actually write stuff down for once.)

HMH.

What can I say. Looking at this, I don‘t think my first lines are very strong? I‘ll try to work on that if I ever manage to be back at it.

Ah, well. I love basing my works on episodes, rewriting and changing and adding to them in some way or another. Guess that shows there, too.

So the section below is a bit rough, because I haven't edited it yet, but it is also a part that I am SO EXCITED to share.

OKAY HERE YOU GO--An excerpt from Deeply and Immovably So!

“Wasn’t this supposed to be my celebration?” Tav asked, her lips quirking into a smile.

“The piper needs to pay her dues,” Alfira sang.

Tav looked to Rolan. His eyes glowed in the candlelight, flickering as the fire danced across his irises. “Well, shall we give them a show?”

“One for the ages,” she said.

And they did, much to everyone’s delight. If not for the clangor raised by the tavern patrons below, Tav suspected that Lia’s and Cal’s cheers would have given them away.

Tav didn’t realize that Rolan was so familiar with the choreographing for the magic shows that ran every two hours outside of Sorcerous Sundries, but for each time that she cast prestidigitation or minor illusion, he joined her efforts with his own, and the effect was nothing short of magnificent. And she hoped that she managed the same for his spells.

When Tav cast dancing lights, Rolan would use prestidigitation to change their colors. When Rolan created the illusion of an owlbear, Tav cast her own to give the creature a voice.

Tav’s blue butterflies were swept into the air, surrounded by petals and dancing lights. One of them, she couldn’t recall whom, filled the space with the scent of roses. Perhaps it was her, since Cal appeared shocked that prestidigitation could have that effect. They immediately followed that spell up by shooting bolts of ice into the night sky that, with some modification, exploded like fireworks.

And, for their finale, when Rolan lit the sky with a flash of colors, Tav illuminated his spell with starlight.

Over the sounds of their cheering audience, she looked at him, grinning. And, perhaps caught up in that excitement, he smiled back, glowing with delight.

And they held each other’s stare. The light above them illuminated Rolan, silvering his hair and his horns, and the starlight dripped onto his shoulders.

Despite herself, Tav was lost in the moment. Lost in him.

To think that she had never noticed his freckles before, and now, underneath the glow of their magic, she saw them all. Laugh lines curved around his mouth. Suddenly, it was Tav’s mission to deepen those lines. No matter how long it took.

I need to cheat because the last thing I wrote is a chapter outline, so here's an excerpt from the second to last thing that I wrote: a Maevelander one-shot:

“Text me!” Maggie yells. “Or call. I don't give a fuck. Just don’t— don't do this, okay?” “Don’t do what?" A pair of blue eyes is staring at her uncomprehendingly.  Sometimes Maggie would love to know what's going on inside that brain. Most of the time, she just wants to drive her sword through his skull so she could stop those neurons from firing for good. But there's not a sword in the world that can do that, and all she has in her hand right now are her keys and her giant bag of groceries that she’s trying not to drop. "Don't do what?" Homelander repeats. Godfuckingdamnit. She can't tell if he’s pretending or genuinely confused. Doesn't matter. There’s a crowd of people forming behind him. “I'm off the clock, okay?” She tries to push past him, and he grabs her wrist. "Don't do what. Maeve?" He can be real stubborn, and there's that menacing tone again, subtle enough that an outsider wouldn't notice, but it's obvious to anybody who's ever spent more than five minutes with this man. The crowd is growing by the second. Wherever this man goes, people follow. The cameras can't be far behind now, Maeve thinks. She needs to handle this now. Homelander tries to cup her face, and her hoodie slips off as she tries to dodge his hand. “It's Maeve!” Somebody yells. “That's Queen Maeve!” Maeve drops her groceries, pushes the door open and pulls Homelander inside before slamming it shut. “Thanks for telling the world where I live,” she hisses. “I'm going to have to find a new apartment now.”

Do you make your bed?

I like a messy bed, it feels more welcoming to me somehow. The only time I make my bed is when I'm without heat and it's winter, then you gotta do it to keep in any residual warmth! But normally I'd rather keep everything loose.

What’s your favorite number?

I....don't think I have one? Is this a thing people have, how do you choose?

What is your job?

I manage a team of Product Owners in the Operations division of a multinational company. In other words, I go to a lot of meetings.

If you could go back to school, would you?

Absolutely not. Beyond the fact that I was formerly a substantive editor of university textbooks, which included both editing the textbook content and sometimes writing their ancillaries (tests, powerpoint slides, etc.) so it feels like I took first-year Sociology at least ten times, I just don't love formalized education. I love learning but on my own terms and at my own pace.

Can you parallel park?

I can't drive at all! Technically I learned how, took lessons and everything, but never got my license.

A job you had that would surprise people?

Hmm. I was a call center person for half a day, it was terrible and I left without getting paid for the work I did because I was so eager to get out of there I didn't want to fight them for my pay (even though I needed the money which is why I was there in the first place). I hate phone calls, I can't hear well on the phone, and it was clear the call center script was designed to be exploitative. It was one of the worst jobs for me I could have taken lol

Do you think aliens are real?

I think it's extremely likely!

Can you drive a manual car?

Nope, even when I learned, it was only on an automatic.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

I'm not guilty about it but I can decimate an entire family size mac and cheese when I'm feeling down.

Tattoos?

I have 3 tattoos; one on each foot and one on the back of my neck. They form a rainbow.

Favorite color?

Blue-green! The shade of preference for any given moment varies, but anything in the region from mint to aqua to teal to turquoise will do; I love them all.

Favorite type of music?

My music taste varies widely but the common denominators are 1) fast tempo or upbeat, 2) solid harmonies, and 3) if there's a tempo or key change I am doubly sold.

Do you like puzzles?

Love puzzles of all kinds. I have a collection of jigsaw puzzles I do regularly, and word puzzles, logic puzzles, sudoku type stuff is all very fun. I don't make a lot of time for them but I do them occasionally and always enjoy it.

Any phobias?

I am afraid of falling. Not heights, but falling. The difference is: I can lean over the railing at the top of a 20-storey building or walk on a glass floor over a big drop and just feel a minor thrill, but am terrified to the point of maybe crying if I have to balance on a single step of a ladder or walk across a patch of ice. I had several brushes with death related to falling when I was a kid, and a few bad falls that caused injury as an adult, so it makes sense. Luckily I am pretty tall so I rarely have to do any kind of ladder-ing!

Favorite childhood sport?

American-style tackle football. We used to play at lunch on the pavement because the soccer kids got the field; we played in all seasons including snow, and we did it for love of the sport. I loved it a lot.

Do you talk to yourself?

Occasionally I'll provide a little commentary on what's happening aloud to myself; but I don't really have fully conversations.

What movies do you adore?

I have loved a lot of movies in my time! A few random ones that come to mind right now because I've been thinking about them for whatever reason are Saving Face (2004), Monster (2023), Practical Magic (1998), Moonlight (2016), and Clue (1985).

Coffee or tea?

Despite my username being a type of tea, in this as in all things I am a perfect Kinsey 3. Love both equally and drink a ton of both (coffee more regularly, tea in greater volume).

First thing you wanted to be growing up?

Lifeguard, I think! And then when I was in elementary school I wanted to edit textbooks (I was that kid who got annoyed whenever there were mistakes), so I did actually get to do my childhood dream job.
