so the first time we see rin is at the veeeery beginning of second selection and tbh i can't TRULY remember what my first thought was, but it was definitely probably along the lines of "oh, entitled asshole!" TBH. it took me a couple weeks to warm up to him (which, considering i consumed the entire manga 2-3 times over in one week upon getting into this fandom...) (also he had a hand in separating bachisagi which was unforgivable) (he's my little skrunkly now tho)

WELL. quite frankly???? the last time he was happy was probably when he saw sae approaching in the winter scene, before sae opened his mouth :) his happiest was probably either 1) when they were children playing together or 2) the moment he shut down sae in u-20 (right before everything fell apart again lmao)

Thank you for saying that ☺ Yeah, you did and that’s why I said you were pretty right but still sucks that you had to find out you were right like this. And was that request detailed about the spoiler then, beause that’s just horrible? Yeah, four to six hours doesn’t sound like all that much. And yeah, I can’t blame you for having a soft spot for Azula because same here. It was really horrible seeing how things turned out for her, even though it’s also understandable. Though out of everyone from the royal family, Zuko’s my favourite beause gods I relate to him on so many levels. Like the way he goes about things and so much. No, sorry, I should have worded it clearer. I meant it as in ‘last season that’s out’. The movie that I saw is like the preview of the first episode that will air later this year, May 12th and that’s the last but one arc so it will probably end some time next year or the year after that, depending on whether they decide to split the final arc into two parts or when it starts airing and all of that. Not only that, and I’m not sure whether I mentioned this, but another one of my favourite Japanese voice actors, Karma’s voice actor, voices a character that plays a major role in that season, though he doesn’t properly appear until a few episodes in but when he did and he started talking, it was just so nice to hear. Like he sounds  a bit like Bakugou, but not as rough and he’s letting his naturally soft sounding voice through and it’s just so nice 😭

After I read everything you said, I went to look up the Bount arc beause I couldn’t remember what it was about and I really feel like it’s been erased from my memory because even the pictures didn’t help jog my memory. Oh that’s cool that the English VA’s also sung the songs and it’s great to hear that it’s solid throughout the show. Also, just knowing that the voice actors sing is exciting since that means I’ll probably (or hopefully) get to hear more of Lawless’s VA and will undoubtedly be hearing Hinata’s VA sing.

Of course 😊 And you did amazing about not letting on what I was right on, since I made a couple guesses as to things that will/could happen in Jujutsu Kaisen and I wasn’t sure at all, so like always, you always are so respectful about not spoiling anything! And it was detailed enough for me to know what exactly happened before I reached those chapters (what happened, who did it) so again, not a cool thing to have happened but I’m also not assuming any malicious intent on themselves, just a blanket statement that if I say I’m currently reading something, please don’t send spoilers! For those curious though, I’ve finished the Jujutsu Kaisen. Nowhere close to being done One Piece though, haha, so I’m working on both One Piece now and the Persona 3 manga (it only has 38 chapters in my app, so it’ll be a quick one to get through and I’m looking forward to reading the story!). It’s really not, haha. I went to bed last night at 11 and then was up again at 4, working away little by little at writing commission related stuff since I have a long day at work today (hoping I don’t need to stay late again though so that I can get even a little bit more done, though I’m really hoping to get a crap ton done during my day off tomorrow 😊) So I know come tonight I will be exhausted but my body just wouldn’t sleep. A:TLA definitely is one of those shows that I don’t think I’ve heard of too many people being completely normal about, where they watch it and are just like ‘meh, it’s an okay story, I guess’. Like, it’s just too well-done that most people have at least one character or aspect of the show that they get so worked up about or entirely love. I’m so glad that someone else understands my soft spot for Azula, and I also adored Zuko so much. His was one of the best done redemption arcs I’ve seen in any media. I’m pretty sure Sokka was my first initial favourite though in the show.

The source material isn’t near as long as I imagined it then, nothing like the long-running shounen of previous years then. Do you hope for them splitting the final arc up? The Bount arc being bad enough for you to erase it from your mind makes complete sense. It happened earlier in the anime and just was such crap, very forgettable and pointless. I would take Fairy Tail’s fillers over Bleach’s overall, and neither of them I felt had amazing filler. It was amazing to hear these songs translated, because when I hear them in Japanese I always do wonder what the lyrics mean, tell myself I’ll go look them up, and then never do! I know back in nostalgia times, like with YYH and Ronin Warriors, they either translated or had special English songs done for the openings and closing, but I’d never seen anything where there were also English songs here and there throughout the episodes! Iruma is very musical, for a shounen show, and it’s one of the things I love about it. You will definitely hear Hinata’s voice actor sing and it’s super adorable. One of my favourite songs of the entire series is done by that character.

I’m glad the extra bits were done that well, but yeah, I completely get it. That seems like such a weird decision with little sense behind it. If they were to make a movie, they should have gone all the way and written a movie proper, with actual storylines, plots, and such. I’m sure the manga had enough source material to do so, so just having that kind of movie summary before a season would have been disappointing to the fans who were so looking forward to it! Thank you so much for the compliment! That made me smile for sure. Hinata’s really adorable but at the same time, he can be really badass. I normally find those ‘I’m a happy ball of sunshine’ characters very one-note, where they’re always happy and energetic and normally kind of stupid and that’s all they ever really are. They normally just bore me because of how one-note they normally end up being, but Hinata definitely has different sides to his character. He’s definitely energetic and very cheerful, but he can get serious, he’s really ambitious, he’s got a lot of social intelligence. He’s not as one-note as I was expecting and I really appreciated that about his character!

i’m panicking; all of them look amazing.

kazuha had a cameo in the very beginning with the scene of the masterless vision, so will he be involved in this arc? i probably misunderstood what he said at the end of the prologue because my english is failing me as usual lol. i’m hoping he would guide us through inazuma, otherwise that would be a waste of his character because he seems important. but again, i could be wrong.

we don’t really know much about yae miko other than she’s a shrine maiden and is said to be baal’s old friend, so i’m curious about how her role is played out.

tohma looks exactly like childe, and i don’t know how to feel about it lol. however, him being a chief retainer/karo — “the highest post available for the retainers of a samurai family, and more than one person occupied the post to consult with and assist the master with political and economical affairs” (source: wikipedia) — is pretty cool. his relationship with ayaka is cute, regardless whether it’s platonic or romantic.

gorou! i’ve been waiting for him since he was leaked. everyone portrayed him as the cute foxboy/dogboy (shiba inu), but judging from his geo vision, his personality is similar to ningguang — being leaders in their own factions. in the japanese dub, he’s voiced by kaminari from bnha and reki from sk8. speaking of reki: his character in my smau is inspired by reki, and the smau was planned since last month. what a coincidence omg.

i didn’t expect sangonomiya kokomi to be one of the leaders of the resistance. i thought she was just helping them out by providing resources, but damn girl, let’s go. gorou and kokomi besties fbskjckdk.

finally, miss kamisato ayaka is here. everyone loves her, everyone has been waiting for her, and now she’s gonna be one of the main characters of this arc. not how one of her battle voicelines is apologizing to her enemy when she attacks them that’s so cute cjndkfjdk.

yeah, my girl yoimiya! my speculations about her character are right; she’s the energetic type. i mean, explosive (pun intended). she reminds me of xiangling! trying to manifest her so wish me luck! her idle animations are so cute.

sayu is adorable. ayaka seems quite fond of her, treating her like a little sister in some way? her english va is lilypichu (if you guys don’t know her, she’s a streamer from offline tv and she sometimes streams with sykkuno), so that’s really cool. good for her!

i’m pulling for yoimiya, gorou, and sara; skipping ayaka and baal until the reruns. i’m so excited for the 20th, two new archons quests and more lore to come let’s get it.

Why do people find the need to argue over what language to watch anime in?

Personally I like both dub and sub and I watch both.

Sub-

1. Because I’m thinking of relearning Japanese since I stopped a few years ago

2. Because it’s the original and sounds cool as fuck and the emotion is epic (Given for example)

Dub-

1. So I can understand it and if I get distracted I don’t have to re read 50+ words to catch up since I don’t have a great attention span lol

2. Same as sub the emotion but makes a little more sense to me

Please no one get angry or yell at me I will actually cry I am weak

Japanese and English pronunciations focus differently in parts of sentences so in one section the Japanese won’t make me feel anything if I think there should be but the English will. Tone plays an important role in an emotional performance.

Haikyuu is going to be my example

The Sub makes them sound older whereas the dub to me makes them sound their age and they sound more fun and energetic. There is energy in the sub obviously I’m not hard of hearing lmao but -

People need to remember VA’s jobs are hard. Yeah a lot get reused in English but you can’t bash them for that when Japanese companies do the exact same. The only reason I think some people get angry is because since it’s our languge we can differentiate easier who is voicing who rather than in some cases for Japanese VA’s again tone comes into play. Like I can recognise a few in Japanese that have popped up and maybe a little more for English.

Idk I’m very tone sensitive and will cry if your voice is raised even a little lol

Examples of va’s I can recognise

Kaji Tang is the English VA for Dazai in BSD- he also voices that Koala and Dwun from HxH, Sanemi from Demon Slayer, Alexei in Sirius the Jaeger and Koen Ren from Magi.

Hiroshi Kamiya is the Japanese VA for Ranpo in BSD- he also voices Levi Ackerman from SNK/AOT, Mephisto from Blue Exorcist, Yato from Noragami and even the fucking squirrel from Brothers Conflict

My point is it’s a hard job and you ARE allowed to like one more than the other but putting down work that takes effort is frankly and simply mean.

I’m not a VA but I am a singer, recording and getting it right takes time it’s not a one take and done and if it is man fucking good on you, but it’s not always that simple guys.

Now WHY did I rant about this? I was scrolling the instagrams and just saw people being assholes about their opinions of sub and dub. They aren’t equal (to me they are but that is MY opinion since I like both and neither more than the other) and I just never saw the point in starting an argument over such a trivial thing such as someone’s viewing preference.

Like are you guys gonna shit on me for adoring horror movies? No I don’t think so. Are people going to demand an English dubbing of a Kdrama? I haven’t seen anyone do it so I don’t get why we have to be angry over animated peoples voices. Seriously so many western cartoons get translated and they still sound fine- yes I am traumatised knowing Hisoka’s va is the Japanese one for Peppa Pig.

Uh yeah idk I have no intention of sounding like an asshole I just want people to know that unless the opinion genuinely isn’t a good one we shouldn’t argue over it. Seriously it’s harmless to like the BSD Dub over the Sub vs liking Sk8 the Infinity Sub more than the Dub or liking both Horimiya’s sub and dub equally.

Literally nothing to argue over some of you just like arguing for the sake of it I swear and then others feed into that sake.

What voice actors do you like? Is there any that you would recommend to someone?

so this is just from the perspective that watches a lot of anime and literally cannot sit through a show unless i know who voices every single character.

if you’re asking what specific people i enjoy and would tell people to seek out i have a few, though i don’t know if i can specifically “recommend” any besides just telling you i like them and you should watch shows they’re in. also these are all english since that’s what i was referring to in my original post.

i really like matthew mercer. great guy, very handsome, excellent voice that is easy to recognize but doesn’t distract from whatever you’re watching. he’s the english va of jotaro kujo, levi ackerman, leorio from hxh, and the teacher in kill la kill. he’s also the dungeon master on the dnd show critical role if you’re into that kind of thing.

ian sinclair is one of my personal favorites. he’s just got this kind of gritty voice with this great lilt to it. i don’t know how to describe it since i’m not an expert in this kind of thing, but he’s just great to listen to. i know a lot of people know him as bokuto but he’s been in so much. he’s in my favorite show sarazanmai and sings and his voice is just fantastic. they really didn’t deserve him for that role (if you watch that clip be warned it’s extremely weird and only makes sense in the context of the show. i highly recommend it but it’s absolutely apeshit.)

i will also never shut up about chris wehkamp. he’s just an all around cool dude that streams on twitch and has a great beard. off the top of my head he voices aizawa in mha and miles edgeworth in ace attorney and totally kills both. he’s just nice. i like him a lot.

i almost posted this list without jonah scott and i can’t believe myself. he’s the youngest on this list and i am in love with him. he’s very good at playing attractive characters because his voice......well. he has a youtube channel where he reacts to thirst posts about his characters and plays video games and it’s great. he voices legoshi from beastars and joe from sk8 the infinity.

finally, eric vale. he’s probably got the most range of anyone on this list, at least in what i’ve seen. mans voices tomura shigaraki and pheonix wright?? i’ve seen all of both those shows and didn’t make the connection until last week. he’s a great, really funny guy. i just think he’s neat.

i hope this answered your question! i don’t know if these count as recommendations but i did my best lol. i’ll take any excuse to rant about voice actors so i appreciate the question.
