SYNOPSIS. making others jealous of you.

TAGS. iwaizumi, bokuto, ushijima x reader.

hajime iwaizumi:

— A few of the participating teams flow out the gym in their groups while you wait for Iwaizumi. You spot Oikawa walk out the gym with a skip in his step, Iwaizumi in tow as he glowers at his friend's public display of joy. "Can you not? You're going to jinx our next game," your beloved husband murmurs.

— Oikawa spots you from afar and makes a beeline for you, throwing his arm around your shoulder and ruffling your hair. "You here to congratulate us, Y/N? You're too good to us," he places a hand on his chest, touched by your alleged gesture. You can already hear a few girls from the other teams whispering at not only Oikawa's presence, but Iwaizumi's too.

— Lately, Iwaizumi had become popular amongst the college students, almost everyone recognising him for effortless talent in volleyball. However, that meant that he was rivalling Oikawa's fanbase because wherever they went meant that both of them gained the squeals and excited whispers of students.

— Evidently, Iwaizumi didn't care about the longing stares of the girls from the other team as he pressed a kiss to your awaiting lips. "Thanks for coming, baby," he smiles softly, eyes scanning your face to ease his nerves after such an exhilarating game. "You hungry?" He asks, letting you link your arm with his as Oikawa walked on the other side of him.

— You spot a few girls stunned by sudden display of affection (as this had been the first time you had met Iwa after a game), some wiggling their eyebrows to congratulate your absolute catch of a husband, while others evidently wished to be in your place (while a few of the male students wished to be the one you linked your arm with).

— "Yeah," you sigh. "I'm starving," you laugh, the confirmation all Oikawa needed before bursting into an array of suggestions. "You know, there's this new ramen place down the street, it's right opposite the bus stop, we have to go." You and Iwa share a glance, a silent agreement. "Yeah, why not?"

kotaro bokuto:

— As you walk into the gym, you spot Bokuto talking to a couple of seemingly infatuated girls. He seemed to be demonstrating his spiking method as he was jumping around and swinging his arms around enthusiastically. His voice could be heard from outside the gym let alone when one stood in it.

— At the sight of you, his eyes light up significantly and he excuses himself from the girls to charge towards you and tackle you into his arms, lifting you high in a crushing yet heart-fluttering embrace. "You came! Late, but you came," he exclaims ecstatically, placing you back down on the ground when you start to slap his shoulder at your lack of oxygen. "You should've seen me this practice round, damn was I amazing or was I amazing?" He flaunts, grinning at you but directing the boast at Akaashi, who smiles faintly as both Bokuto's validation and his greeting to you.

— The girls Bokuto was previously talking to seem startled by his sudden display of affection, albeit not offended. They giggle when he begins peppering your face with kisses, mumbling adorable affirmations in between each one (things such as "I love you so much" and "you are so beautiful", even "it's so hard having such a gorgeous wife because it means I miss her all the time").

— You blush at each word, having to eventually push him away with a breathy laugh. "You got another round?" You ask, nodding towards the others who seem to be feeding back to each other. "Oh yeah, you have to watch me, baby," he insists, grabbing your hand and ensuring you sit in a middle row on the bleachers (far enough to not get hit but close enough to still see every bit of the action).

— The girls he was previously talking to are packing their stuff and start walking up the bleacher stairs. On their way to the gym's exit, they flash you a thumbs up and whisper "we are so jealous of you right now" with evident excitement in their voices. They giggle at your blush and thanks, waving you goodbye before leaving.

wakatoshi ushijima:

— Ushijima is not one for public displays of affection, but his method of displaying it is noticeable (at least to his teammates). You're walking with three of your friends to the diner the team invited you to after an allegedly 'boringly easy' game (according to Tendou's words). When you enter the late 1980s styled diner, the bell ringing upon your entrance catches the attention of Semi and Goshiki, who both sit up and wave you over.

— You sit next to Ushijima while your friends squeeze in between the others. Ushijima stares at you for a moment, observing you, before smiling softly and greeting you. His hand finds your knee under the table, tracing circles with his thumb. "I already ordered you a milkshake, but take some time to order some food too," he suggests, handing you the menu with a subtle yet detectable shift closer to you.

— Although your friends each have a crush of their own on other members of Shiratorizawa, they don't deny the chemistry between you and Ushijima (so they're not ones to be jealous of you spitefully, rather be envious of your relationship as they wish to have the same with their crushes).

— As aforementioned, Ushijima is not greatly into PDA, so the most he will do is wipe a stain of ketchup off your cheek, or perform acts of service such as placing all your favourite sauces near you and unwrapping your straw for you. You're engaged in a conversation with Goshiki about the best breed of cat as you feel Ushijima's gaze burn into the side of your face.

— You try to contain your blush the best you can, but fail spectacularly when Semi smirks at you, openly acknowledging your embarrassment. You glare at him in a failed attempt to divert his attention, but he shrugs and sips on his own drink as he observes Ushijima's infatuation with you. He and the other members are not used to anything but demands and feedback from their captain, so seeing him like this? It almost makes them jealous of what you two have.

We are hoping to receive 100 responses for the zine interest check! So far there are so many people who are excited about this project and holy crap so are we!

We've been brainstorming the themes and tropes that will be featured in both the SFW version and the NSFW version. I have to say, you're all going to lose your minds when you see what we've got in store.

A reminder, this zine is going to include a vast array of Oscar Isaac's characters. I noticed when I was looking through other zines that there are so many for the more popular characters (MK, Miguel, e.t.c.), but what about Santiago Garcia? Or Blue Jones? He has so many fantastic characters that get overlooked by fans and as a result they don't show up in projects like this.

We're also excited to give a space for people of all skill levels, art styles, writing experience, e.t.c. a place where they can participate without feeling like they have to be "good enough". I'm not going to say that there won't be future projects that have experience/portfolio standards, but we will be hosting many that won't stop anyone from participating.

We just want people to feel welcomed and have an opportunity to participate in a really cool project without feeling like they have to adhere to a certain level of "excellence."

So anyway, thanks for coming to my ted talk haha! Don't forget to share this with anyone and everyone you can! This is going to be an amazing project and I want anyone and everyone to fill out the interest check!

Okay no so I need to get this out of my head and what better way than to plop it into somebody else's lap so that they can add their two cents: I am convinced that the Sully family, at some point, would have an intensely divided war amongst themselves following an argument regarding what pet to get. If it was a human AU, then you best bet they'd be split down the middle on whether to get a dog or cat.

Neteyam is fully in the cat corner and has compiled a hefty amount of research devoted specifically to how to care for/own a cat, along with all of the benefits of having a cat vs. having a dog (for some reason I feel like when Neteyam goes he goes all in or else why bother? He's the oldest in a line up of future deviants, he has no time for half-assed attempts). He already has a name picked out for it and everything (Mittens, because for some reason I picture him being both basic and valid at the same time) and assures his parents that his choice is the best one to go through with.

Kiri is team dog, though she would settle for a cat. A dog would just be so much better for all the outdoors-y shit she and her family does. A morning walk? You can take the dog! Going to the beach? You can take the dog! Camping? You can take the dog! Sure, cats are pretty self-sufficient, but do you really want to have to spend time wondering what you're going to do with the cat while planning every trip?

Lo'ak, surprisingly, is team cat. Why exactly? He couldn't tell you. He just likes their "fuck off" vibe (okay and maybe their fluffy fur and cute little paws and how they meow and how they lie in a sweet little ball of fluff and have you seen how they yawn oh my Eywa their eyes close so adorably and, oh fuck it, he admits it he's in love just get the cat already).

Tuk is team dog and it isn't even close. Dogs are do cute! Dogs are so friendly! Dogs would definitely play with her whenever she wanted and she could train their dog to do the cutest little tricks! It would be her best friend and love her forever!

Neytiri is team dog. She just feels like dogs connect more to their families than cats do and she thinks that the main thing a person should want in a pet is for them to become integrated deeply into the family and all they do. You can take a dog far more places than you can a cat, too, which is also preferable (much like in Kiri's opinion).

Jake is, strangely enough, team cat. I have this little headcanon that he and Tommy spent a good deal of their life in the foster system in this huge city and throughout the many miserable homes they were placed in their only constant was the plethora of stray cats skulking around the city (that has long since stopped trying to get the problem under control because I said so this it my fantasy thank you very much). I also like to imagine that his mother died when they were very young and one of the only memories he has of her is this one time when she was crouching down to try and coax a cat into taking some of her tuna sandwich so he's always just had a soft spot for them because one of the only things he remembers about her is that she must have at least liked cats. Anyways, there's just something about a cat's quiet comfort that he digs. They're warm and small and just feel amazing to hold (plus, he's a sucker for the purring maybe if dogs could purr there would be more of a contest). They already have four rambunctious children (plus Spider whenever Norm fucks off to wherever his research takes him next) and he's not about to get a dog and take a shot at five.

I imagine it gets so out of hand that pretty much everyone around them places bets on which side will win. Ao'nung has zero faith in Lo'ak, so he's betting on team dog. Tsireya has a cat of her own so she's biased, team cat. Neytiri terrifies Norm, team dog. Tonowari has to side with his bro despite being a dog person, team cat. Ronal refuses to participate in this (team cat to spite Neytiri). Kiri has the Spider advantage, team dog.

Who wins? Fuck if I know. I say let chaos reign, I hope they never come to a decision.

ANON. THANK YOU FOR THIS GIFT HOLY SHIT. I AM ~OBSESSED~ WITH THE MINDMELDING WE ARE ALL DOING.

Okay, but consider this?? A dog AND a cat. Mo'at suggests it because it's the obvious solution and they are all dumb for not thinking of it earlier. So then they get a puppy and a kitten and it ends up being one of those fucked up situations where the cat turns out a little more dog like than usual and the dog gets a little bit more cat from the situation. All of a sudden they have a dog to take camping and on RV road trips and hiking and to the beach, and aLSO A FUCKING CAT. Mittens is basically free range dude, Neteyam straps the life vest on the cat and they go canoeing and shit. He and Lo'ak make fun of Kiri because her dog (River) barely fits in the canoe with her, and whenever he jumps out he capsizes her. Mittens can jump after him with little to no disruptions. It's all fun and games until River's trying to get up into Neteyam's canoe right after.

The cat and dog very much enjoy the Sully (and Spider and Mo'at)'s family cross country road trip. River sleeps with Kiri and to Neteyam's utter disappointment Mittens sleeps with Mo'at. Jake likes to throw Mittens overboard while he's throwing Tuk when they get to the sailing and wakeboarding part of their journey, and Mittens LOVEs it. He's the most broken cat of all time. Neytiri has a special raw food diet going for both animals, and they are both so obscenely well trained it's not even funny. They are better trained than Lo'ak, Kiri says. It also takes Lo'ak and Spider that entire summer roadtrip to teach River to skateboard so they can make a viral instagram account. They have to start all over when it comes to surfing, and Ao'nung is disturbingly dedicated to helping even though he "hates" them.

Remember that timeline convo between Amane and Kotoko, where Amane thanked her for not treating her as a child and that she’s not so scary, to which Kotoko responded, “Why would I treat you as a child? I still am the person I was at 12. Also, you’re not so great, suck on that B-.”

That said, God, I really thought it was some strand of leftover moral keeping her from attacking Amane, not a lack of opportunity.

I remember it sooooo well. That interaction lives in my head rent free!

Amane: I see…… You look scary at first impression, but I quite like the way you treat everyone equally regardless of whether they’re older or younger than you. You don’t just treat me like a child or anything like that. Kotoko: Treat you like a child? Hah, you’ve got to be kidding. Back when I was your age, I was already the person I am today. I don’t have any plans to let you get away with something just “because you’re a child.” ……remember that. Kotoko really said in that voice drama if it wasn't for Kazui interferring and Mikoto taking so long to fight she would have jumped that kid. She has always and will forever be about it. When she said remember that she meant that shit.

This is the perfect example of the phrase when people tell you who they are believe them.

Don't give them a defense, don't say you're probably overexagerating, you probably have poor self-esteem. We can unpack that after taking they asses at face value. In order to fix an issue one first has to accepts an issue exists.

Definitely puts all those injured children throughout Harrow in a new light. Especially given her focus in the voice drama of others not being able to do what it takes to actually implement change. People were really like it can't be that bad and Kotoko barged in cd drop like,

"Ha; it's gonna be worse! SO, STUPID WEAKLINGS LIKE YOU ALL SHOULD JUST SHUT UP AN LET ME PROTECT YOU! You're way too soft- What were you thinking that you could make friends?! That these people would change if you were nice and understanding enough. That we'd all hold hands and laught together if you just forgave us? You're far too kind- AND NAIEVE! What next are you just going to forgive them because they're attractive? You need me to do the things that need to be done that you yourself clearly can't do. That's what cooperation is."

It's been amazing because she came in last part of trial two and really gave the audience and Es a kick to the face for all our behavior up until now. Like it's the biggest fuck all of you of trial two. Honestly she kept hitting she did not miss. Not one fucking time. She held that mirror up and shouted at that bitch until it cracked.

Ooooo, boy....

I was not expecting to come out of her voice drama like well now hold on she's a bit wild, a tad unhigned, definitely unforgivable to some, but um she's speaking some truths. There's some truths there that a lot of people who participate in Milgram are not going to like to hear but need to hear regardless.

It was so satisfying to see. Especially after everything this trial. It was just perfect actually after everything we've been through and the logic we've all seen. That- Yeah we deserve to get to sit with that for a bit.

And you're absolutely right about everything. I am not a writer myself but I love to engage with fics and leave long comments. The interaction with the writers is one of my favorite things about reading fanfics because that's something you usually don't have (or at least not in that extent) when you're reading 'regular' books

Also I loved the yr week in april or all the fics for secret santa so thank you again to all of you for organzing these things, it's so appreciated 🧡

Heeey future anon! Glad to see you again, and glad I could be of some assistance in easing your worries. You've clearly already found your fandom path - leaving long comments are the best way to a writer's heart ;) (honestly this is a good reminder for me to do that more often 🙈) and as you say it really is something that makes fandom quite unique compared to 'regular' publishing.

But you're very welcome for YR week - it really was fun! So many authors outdid themselves that week. And you have @wilmon-secretsanta to thank for the wonderful Secret Santa creations, I can't take credit for that one :).

But really, it is I who should be thanking you, cause it's thanks to your ask and the reactions to it that I started getting in the mood for the next event and finally made the survey I'd been thinking about for some time now! (As I said in my previous response - round and round it goes: we inspire each other, and you don't have to be a fic writer to contribute to fandom - sometimes a well-timed ask is enough to set the wheels into motion ;) ).

For those curious: there's been about 50 responses to the survey so far, but I'm gonna leave it up for a little longer so everyone who wants to has a chance to participate. So I can't tell you what the next event will be YET (although I can tell you readers and writers have pretty different ideas of what they want to do/see 😂), but I have a feeling it's going to be even more fun than YR week ;).

Favourite color: If I had to pick one color overall I guess I'd go with... burgundy? I'm more of a multi kinda gal.

Last movie: TMNT: Mutant Mayhem! It was super cute. Gorgeous animation style.

Currently watching: Lord help me, but I am about to finally start Supernatural (good work, peer pressure!!). I'm also watching the dongua Link Click -- dumb name (or bad translation), incredible show. This is the post that instantly convinced me to watch it, and I honestly couldn't pitch it any better myself.

Also just biding my time until TGCF season 2!! ^_^

And I'm really excited to start Koisenu Futari -- looks like it has amazing aro/ace rep!

Currently reading: Just because the person before me mentioned this -- I also have @shamera's fic open to read! I love it so far. I'm also reading Yuwu (Remnants of Filth) by Meatbun, and The Swimming Pool Library. (The two genders! Both gay tho <3333)

Currently working on: Trying to disentangle all of my thoughts and ~feelings regarding Mysterious Lotus Casebook!!! I do want to write something about the series, because it has totally enthralled me in a really special way. And jumping off of that, I'm also thinking of putting together a post on my sudden hard-and-fast fall for c-dramas overall, because I think there's something interesting there psychologically that others might relate to as well.

Currently obsession: Uhhh, yeah, Mysterious Lotus Casebook. I have never come so close to attempting to learn how to gif, LOL. (Luckily, everyone else seems to have this covered. ;)) Also, Link Click! WATCH IT!!

Thanks so much for all of your interest!

It's amazing to hear how excited you guys are for this event, thanks so much for all the signal boosting and the interest check forms you guys filled in! It seems like everyone is happy with the schedule so far, which is great news. If you didn't get a chance to fill in that form and still want to, it's here.

Also a big thank you to everyone who signed up as a mod! We'll be reviewing sign ups and contacting you in the next few days.

We thought we'd make this post just to answer a few questions that were submitted.

Do we need to submit our portfolios?

This event is open for everyone, no matter how much or how little experience you have in creating, so there's no need to submit anything except the sign up form in order to participate.

How do the signups work when they open up?

Sign ups will open on 20th November and will be via a google form (much like the interest check). Writers, Artists, and Beta Readers sign ups will open simultaneously and we'll make a post on tumblr to announce it with the links to the forms - keep an eye out! We don't have an exact time that they'll open yet but will probably end up scheduling a post for midnight (GMT or similar - currently mods are in europe) but it'll be self reblogged throughout the sign up period, so hopefully no one will miss it.

We'll ask for your contact details (name, primary handle, email address and discord if you have it) and any details on co-authors/artists if you have them. Writers don't need to submit fic details yet (though we'd certainly encourage you to start work on your fic once you're signed up) as the fic details form that we'll use for claims will be sent out in january. So yes - you can sign up with 0% of a plan, as long as you'll have one by January 22nd, when fic details forms are due.

What are the rules and guidelines?

We have an about/FAQ here (or alternatively linked in our pinned post) which we're trying to keep updated as we get new questions! But anything you can't find on there or anything that doesn't make sense, please do send us an ask.

Is it for ao3 only or tumblr too?

All fics must be posted on AO3, where we will have a collection for this event (that we'll create and explain nearer the time) so if you're considering signing up as a writer and don't have an AO3 account yet, please join the waitlist for an account. Fics can be posted and promoed on tumblr too - we'd certainly love to be able to reblog all works onto this account - but they don't have to be.

As for art, it's up to the artists to discuss with their team how art is going to be posted. It can be posted on AO3, or on tumblr, or even twitter, but wherever it is it must clearly link to the fic (and vice versa - the fic must clearly link to the art)

Will artists/betas know during claims what adaptation an author is basing their work off? [NB: i rephrased this question from a suggestion]

Yes! This will be part of the fic details forms that writers will submit ready for claims.

Since art can take many forms and doesn't necessarily have to be drawing, we won't put any restrictions on what art can be made and in what style. However, it needs to fit into the rating and tags of the fic it will go with, and we'd recommend that an artist stick to the particular adaptation/s that the fic is based on.

Is there a twitter page to retweet?

Not yet I'm afraid. We're working on that, and have just created a bluesky. We'll update you is and when we get a twitter up and running!

Is it possible to sign up as a pinch hitter only?

Yes definitely! Pinch hitter sign ups will open on January 7th, as author sign ups close, so just keep an eye out for that. Please note we can't guarantee if there will be anything available for you, or when it will come available, or what exactly it'll be.

as far as the question of starting the next bracket in the finals week, i would like to offer my two cents!

for one quick thing, the question i feel like might be different depending on when the next bracket starts within the week of finals? starting the next bracket within the first day or two of the finals i feel like would have a high chance of drowning out the finals poll. but if it starts in the latter half of the week, it might not be that much of a concern. cause round one alone is 16 polls! thats gonna be a lot of polls and a lot of reblogs for propaganda. or the reverse could potentially happen, where cats in round one get overshadowed by the anticipation of finals.

now if i misinterpreted this and started the next round would just be releasing the next bracket, then none of that applies. that probably wouldn't have the stress of potentially drowning out finals with it being the only active polls, but of people in the next bracket wanna start preparing and/or submitting propaganda for waiting people they can!

also, if we dont rush to the next bracket, it could be a great time to show some love to all the cats of the current bracket with some pastpaganda as well! if we encourage people that even if their cat gets knocked out early, and they didnt get a chance to share all their propaganda, theyre not out of time to show off their cat! i know pastpaganda has already been happening, but finals week would be a great place for more pastpaganda spotlight because of just the one poll! (not to say limit pastpaganda to just finals week, but having the time acknowledged as a good pastpaganda time might make it seem more appealing too, and we may get more!)

so yeah. i feel like this is definitely a bracket where it's more about the journey than the destination. plus 8-9 months of people being excited about cats sounds amazing! i know theres a ton of anticipation involved for anyone waiting for their cats to pop up (my baby is in the wait too) but i personally would much rather wait longer and than just try to rush this all and get to the end asap.

I waited a bit to get more votes on the "should I start the second bracket" poll but honestly everyone who cares voted already so I can answer this now

first of all thanks for putting so much thought into this!!

I like your idea for pastpaganda time a lot. because you're right! now is the prime time to appreciate all the cats we have seen already. sadly I don't think all the submitted cats have their humans following this blog. but still! pastpaganda is always welcome

I will post the second bracket. today. maybe tomorrow. but the second bracket polls won't start for several day as to give time to our finalists and hopefully the pastpaganders. take this time to prepare propaganda for your cats if they participate! you've seen it already. it's powerful. also by sending it before I post the polls you ensure the propaganda is added to the poll post itself and so more people will see it

before you keep reading; I want to say thank you. 1.5k followers is an actually insane number. when I started posting my writing at the end of 2020, I never expected to get this far. I know updates have been spotty (basically always, but especially now), but I've always seen all your likes, reblogs, asks, and other ways of showing me support. it's what's been keeping me creative, and what's been giving me an outlet for all the dumb little ideas I have in my head. I genuinely hope that my stories have impacted you in some way, whether that be a tiny breath out of your nose in place of a laugh or just something that you've been able to look forward to.

and to those who let me know your thoughts, those who comment, reblog, and send me asks or messages - there isn't a happier time for me than when I am privileged enough to get some insight on what feelings my words can inspire. I read every tag, every comment, and I try to respond to as much as I can. please extend this lovely gesture to other writers, too, so that they get to enjoy your words just as much as you enjoy theirs! ❤️

Tbh, I try not to make a big deal over milestone numbers for my own sanity . . . 🥴😭😳🤯😩 My god how to form words... I just rewatched the teaser and compared to that, the haunting choir was stronger in the YouTube shorts version and 🤯🤯 I lost my mind. The choir and the horror like harmonization that you mentioned sounds AMAZING. There is a really high female(?) voice in the very back, holding that note for like almost the entirety of the yt shorts and it literally just fucking catapulted me into the sun. There is a haunting vibe mix of Fake Love from MDP and the choir reminded me of that. I'm really really loving this song so far and they literally just showed us almost the same thing twice 😭 but I'm already so obsessed with it. AND THE DANCERS? LIKE PTD ON STAGE BLACK SWAN??? As a precaution as well, I wanted to throw it out there that tumblr on occasion does not notify me even when I'm tagged, so please do feel free to send an ask or a message if I don't post your works in a relatively timely manner (I usually post works around 11 pm - 12 am CST, give or take an hour).

On a similar note, if you notice that I used an incorrect tag on your fic or a tag is missing, I'd love for you to let me know as I do a good deal of copy-pasting tags and sometimes I forget to update them as needed.
