🍭why did you start writing?

I've really loved reading fanfic for a really long time! There have been so many fics over the years that just made me feel SO many different emotions, and SO strongly - and even that aside, it's been a huge part of my life for nearly 2/3 of my actual lifespan! That's nuts! I always wanted to be able to make other people feel the way that my favorite authors made me feel. I distinctly remember being in middle school and being, like, Man, I wish I could write a story that made someone else cry! which sounds kind of fucked up without context but y'all get me.

That said, when I actually started writing, I recall a big part of my motivation being the whole feeling of, "Oh, god, wait. I can just... make these characters... do... whatever I want?! I CAN JUST DO WHATEVER I WANT??" and subsequently going absolutely fucking mad with power, so there was that, too.

Do you have a favourite storyline/story arc across any of the games?

ough definitely a few. there’s none i’d say are perfect (is there ever a perfect storyline) but several definitely come close. julius and playa’s whole tragedy makes me feel insane. that storyline, the themes and implications and just how classically agonizing it all is……it’s just so good. creating someone in your own image and being so terrified by the outcome you must destroy it. fuck man. probably my favorite of the series. it really is the catalyst for everything in playa’s life going forward. it changed everything and its effects are felt in every game, even if only subtly.

i have a lot of issues with how johnny and aisha’s story gets treated by the overall narrative, however i’d be lying if i said it wasn’t a favorite. i mean y’all know me i’d do anything for those two. number one johnny/aisha fan forever and ever. i think i love the potential development it brings up rather than the actual execution of it; i mean, srtt literally stops it dead in its tracks. but hey. taps the rewrite sign. that’s what i’m here for.

god and speaking of faves. troy and dex’s personal arcs. the foreshadowing in sr1 with troy is fucking phenomenal and it brings up soooo much interesting potential that was begging for sr2 to expand upon but. nothing. similarly sr2 sets up dex to have this huge spanning arc, going from friends (and if you’re anteros, lovers) to enemies. but then shit got in the way and it just became a jumbled, out of character mess. like really? jeopardizing stilwater? he would not fucking do that. and then not even getting a proper conclusion? bye.

this is getting away from me. julius and playa’s whole thing still wins by a fucking mile. honorable mention to the would-be plot of shaundi’s survivor’s guilt that we almost got.

The positivity in the Hades Game fandom is beyond anything I've ever seen in any other. You can be a fan of pretty much anything and there'll be folks cheering you on and supporting you, even if they're not into the thing themselves

The OCs! Like, it's so easy to take a Greek God not featured in the game and make an OC out of them and people always really enjoy seeing them. I've never received the love for an OC that Momus received in any other fandom I've been in

11. if you’re a writer or artist, what fic or piece of art are you proud of making?

There are actually a lot of fics I'm proud of in this fandom, but if I narrowed it down to just two, then the prince with specific tastes; the king with specific regrets was the gateway drug that got me here and while perhaps not technically the best, has so much raw love and passion in it that it'll always be precious to me; and then there's when ares met skelly, which I do think is technically the best fic I've written for this fandom

🪄what is your post-writing/sharing aftercare? How do you take care of yourself or celebrate yourself when you've finished a fic?

honestly, i usually give myself a mental pat on the back, then share it on the mat discord (or just with you and jane if it's one of Those fics) and then lean back, satisfied that at least a few of my friends will get a kick out of it, too. then imagine mat/his characters in more scenarios, and then get started on another fic or wip. the more i write, the more i want to write, so i let myself do that until the inspiration burns out and then i let myself sit back for a while if i want to, or i try and inspire myself to write more if i want to.

💋when you leave comments on a fic, do you want to hear back from the writer?

eh, i leave comments so the writer knows i appreciated their work, not to get a response from them. it's lovely when i do get one, but i don't feel bad if i don't?

💌share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!

weeeell, my first installment of my spy x rp au is finally almost done; as you know it's in the editing phase 😈 and i'm adding more context to the au and how joe and chris came to be living together, how chris and 'mum' met, and more about chris and joe's life together/their general dynamic. since it's going to be a series of some sort, i want to flesh out the world a bit more (and i already have a lot of thoughts about it, i'm just working them into the fic in a way that is hopefully organic and not too info-dumpy!)

“It’s not a big deal,” Blurr said, testing his weight on the hasty patch job he’d done on his leg. “It’s, what, fifty kliks by shuttle? I’ve gone farther on worse.”

"Hey, I do think it's a big deal, actually,” Whirl said. “I know your brain’s not what got you your claim to fame, but here’s some basic math for you. Fifty kliks across active battlefield plus one very-much-not-light rotary minus one good leg equals dead. You’d think I’m the one here without the deathwish, jeez.”

“I don’t have a deathwish, Whirl,” Blurr said. “I know what I’m doing. I said fifty kliks by shuttle. Won’t take me more than fifteen minutes, tops. My leg can make it that long, trust me.”

“I absolutely do not trust you.” Whirl eyed Blurr warily as he bent down and slid his arms around Whirl’s battered frame. “You’re insane, you know. We’re both going to die. We’re both going to die, and you’re stealing my schtick. I’m supposed to be the resident supplier of crazy, and here you are coming up with a stupid idea like this.”

“Tell you what,” Blurr said, scooping Whirl up with a poorly concealed grunt of pain. “If we both die, I’ll buy you a drink for being right.”

Whirl barked a laugh. “Sounds like my kind of bet,” he said, and held on tight as Blurr started to run.
