🥚 Any easter eggs you put in a fic that you hoped people would notice?

For sure, usually just little things like sly references or subtle puns (like how Julie's listening to Taylor's latest album during her first period circa 2013 in You'll Be Mine And I'll Be Yours...said album was Red 😆 there are a lot in that fic for some reason lol)

🪜 Tell us a random fact about any fic!

So, the sunflower series sprang from the smallest idea. I was talking to someone--possibly @psyduckappears --about how endearing it is when a guy's hair has just started to grow out to where it curls a little at the ends and then it became the first of a few loose concepts for a five plus one fic that kind of...became a lot more and not so much that (although I maintain that the first fic technically, loosely, counts, which is why I kept that in the summary)

20. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process? :)

Fic Writer Ask Game:

Gosh that’s tricky, because I often joke about damn torturous the fanfiction writing process can be. I think most writers can relate. 😂 But! We wouldn’t be doing this without having some sort of love for it, so let’s focus on that!

I think my personal favorite part of the process is just playing around with a world I already love. With my original writing, I tend to get very hung up on world-building and characters because I have to build them all up from scratch. That’s not to say I can’t find enjoyment in that too, but it’s understandably a lot more daunting. But with fanfiction, you get worlds you already love exploring and characters you already enjoy interacting with, and it’s basically like playing Barbies!

You can expand upon the world, find the little corners and details that didn’t get much spotlight in the original work, and ask yourself, “What if this happened? Or Character A did this instead? Or how would they react to XYZ?”

It’s fun! Because you’re not just the passive audience member anymore, but you get to be in control, decide how things will work out.

TLDR: Fanfiction is the writing equivalent of smashing your action figures and dolls together to make them smooch and I love it.

ZARO FROM NU: CARNIVAL, i know he only showed up in a few scenes and doesn't even have a canonical appearance but he was quincy's best friend so i have a lot of feelings about him. since pretty much all his stuff is locked behind events & intimacy rooms i wrote about him here to spread the word 😌

11. if you're a writer or artist, what fic or piece of art are you proud of making?

i have. an AO3 collection about that but one that stands out for me is not quite anointed. it's rare that i actually finish a multi chapter fic and it was also a crossover (sk8/nukani) and deeply personal so it was an ADVENTURE

14. the ship that always makes you smile

quincy & blade, the brotp 🥺❤️ to me they're both autistic but in very different ways that complement each other well and the couple times they've interacted in canon it's killed me. bffs

Hiiii I know you’ve probably talked about this before but I am a relatively new follower and I would love to hear about how Drac and Edmont fell in love :>

Well first it is worth mentioning that in the Dracverse so to speak he is The WoL. When Drac made it to Ishgard and more specifically the Fortemps manor he was pretty much smitten right away. In part because of the Count's physical appearance but also because of the way he treats Drac and his companions. Edmont outranked them all technically and yet he bowed and showed them respect. He also did not expect Drac to act the hero at least not right away. He was clearly more concerned for his well being. Which was incredibly rare for Drac and a rather pleasant surprise to be honest. What followed was a shared curiosity for the other. If Drac had his way he would love to simply sit and listen to Edmont talk, and as it so happened Edmont felt the same about Drac. This lead to many conversations over tea. Even the occasional walk around Ishgard and "shopping trip" together. The house Fortemps steward picked up on their shared attraction rather quickly and showed both of them a lot of support while also trying to nudge them into confessing... Which had mixed results.

They both struggled with guilt and bad experiences with prior relationships which certainly made it even more difficult. There was also a question of whether they felt like they deserved the other, which certainly held them back. But they learned from each other and helped each other grow and move on from their pasts, together.

They are both caring older men with a love for the simple joys in life and a knack for adopting people as their kids. One thing that was also a big deal for Edmont was how Drac treated staff in the manor and people overall. He was kind to everyone he met and wasted no time on those who were rude.

There is a moment I have written but not posted where they are at a banquet together and a few other nobles, including the host, are essentially talking shit about Drac; which he overhears. It does not bother him until it extends to them also making some unsavory comments about his beloved count. That's when he decides to just leave, which is as you'd probably guessed, rather rude. Edmont finds him only a few moments later leaning against a streetlamp and looking up into the mountains with his arms crossed.

When Edmont approaches he assumes that it was about something someone said, but thinks that Drac is upset about them insulting him. Drac explains that he did not want to end up doing something he would truly regret so he simply left instead. That he did not mind their comments about him but that the moment the good count's name was brought up in such a manner he simply had to leave for it infuriated him.

"If they intend to waste my time in there, then I see no reason to stay. For when they speak ill of the most kind and welcoming man in all of Ishgard, I simply cannot accept that. Well.. he is to me, at least."

That was a moment that truly helped Edmont realise how much they mattered to one another, because Edmont felt the same about Drac. The main reason he had even began to look for Drac was because of things he overheard that really pissed him off. Comments about his beloved hero.

Anyway my ramblings aside.. I hope this makes some semblance of sense. Thank you for asking and following me! Hope you have a great day as well!! ❤️

sage ⇢ what ‘medium’ of art (poetry, music, fiction, paintings, statues etc.) is the most touching to you? why do you think that is?

Music! I love all forms of art, but music is the one I feel closest to. Why is difficult for me to say. Maybe because I interact with it the most – ever since childhood. My dad often played the guitar or blasted loud music when I was younger (he still does) which was probably what connected me to it in the first place (at the least, his guitar playing was the reason why I decided at the tender age of 8 to want to play too lol) and it sort of. Spiralled from there? I listen to music all the time – at home, taking a walk, I have it as background noise most of the day. And it's the absolute best™ if I want to get into any sort of mood :D

Whats your comfort food and which song did you listen to last?

Hmmm my first thought was a snack - Knoppers has a lot of nostalgia attached for me, love it.

If we're talking actual food, probably frikandel (a Dutch sausage) with fries. My parents would drive over the border into the Netherlands and buy a pack of 40 😂

The last song I listened to was on my way home from work, off my playlist that has... literally all my music: Major Tom by Plastic Bertrand, which is the French version!

What's "digging up the grave another time"?

!! This one is inspired by the 1, which is, as one might guess, a one that got away song.

Basically, Reggie ends up living with the Molinas for a while (through the tail end of high school and into his early twenties). He's very supportive in return throughout Rose's illness, and when she dies (Julie's nearly done with college at this point). But Sunset Curve starts to take off, and Reggie's hesitant to leave, but Julie pushes him to go (she doesn't want to keep him bogged in her grief and even thinks she might get over him if he goes). She quietly quits college.

Years later, when the story starts proper, she's doing much better overall, but for one thing: Reggie still haunts her, even though she hasn't even spoken to him in ages. And why would she? He's a huge rockstar now and she's...doing OK. But her therapist encourages her to let herself write the song her muse wants to write about him.

I have Julie's song and the beginning written, but I still need to puzzle out the ending, so I'm a bit stumped at the moment 😅

9. What fic meant the most to you to write?

there's longer stuff that i worked hard on and i'm very much Proud of myself for completing but. as far as SIGNIFICANCE goes, i'd have to go with "for me." aro adam is a very important headcanon to me, and after kind of a shit experience in that fandom that largely involved my interpretation of his orientation, i'm really happy i still got to post something about it for arospec week. idk if/when i'll write about that fandom again, but it felt like a good sendoff for now (alongside a platonic ship fic i wrote for fandom rhythm)

19. Share your favorite opening line

realizing i do not,,, think much about opening lines, there aren't too many that stand out to me 🤔 i do really like the opening bit from my other fandom rhythm fic abt quincy having Gender Thoughts

Quincy didn’t think about what made him a man; he didn’t have to. He grew up like any other man he knew, with his father as a role model and high expectations to fill that role himself someday. As a kid, he never once questioned his position or considered anything different.

As an adult, he met Kuya, who was an outlier.

30. What’s something that you want to write in 2024?

honestly it'd be fun to write fnaf fic, i just haven't really been hit with an idea or anything specific i wanna write about yet. also i really wanna write more genloss, it's fun to play around in that universe but i think i need more Stuff to work with first (luckily we're getting a movie cut of the 1st series and a new series on the horizon so 👀 maybe it'll inspire me again)

Oh no. Instant regret. Why did I bring this upon myself? I... got nothing for you, anon. I'm sorry. I can't remember the last time I read a book tbh. I haven't even read fanfic in like a year. Never been an avid reader. (Which was evident when I used to try and write fanfic 😬). And anyway, I always preferred true stories and biographies and such. I can say that the Hunger Games trilogy will probably always be in my top five. Also a Swedish trilogy called Torka alright tårar utan handskar (Never Wipe Tears Without Gloves). It's a story based on real life experiences of the author Jonas Gardell as a young gay man in the 1980s Stockholm. The three books are called Kärleken (The Love), Sjukdomen (The Illness) and Döden (The Death). But other than those two trilogies I honestly can't remember a book that's really moved me. But hey, if you think about it, that's already six books lol
