Hi, Tonic! So I’ve started my NBA Player! Sam/ Celebrity of Some Other Kind! Bucky fic twice, and Together Again is the working title of the one I’ve written the most of, 2300 words so far. Anywho, the basic premise is Sam, Steve, & Bucky were childhood besties, Sam and Bucky were high school sweethearts, and college sweethearts too, but broke up when Sam decided to enter the draft. It was bad, and they haven’t spoken since. Here’s a snippet:

Bucky saw the name flashing on his cell phone and immediately answered.

“Hey, buddy,” he said, his smile evident in his voice. “What’s—

“Sam needs you,” Steve cut in, before he could get another word out.

Bucky’s breath caught in his throat, and his heart seemed to start beating in double time. Steve hadn’t done this in a while, years even. He used to do it a lot though: when wounds were fresh, and Bucky’s chest still felt cracked open, and Steve thought he could fix them and their relationship through sheer force of will and stirring speeches alone.

There was a good six month period immediately following their breakup when Steve brought Sam up every time he spoke to Bucky, even though he knew it was the last name his best friend wanted to hear. He eventually eased up, but he still didn’t quit altogether. Why would he? Steve had always been Sam’s & Bucky’s biggest supporter, from about five minutes after it became clear that Sam and Bucky were about to become Sam and Bucky. So, yeah, even when he quit campaigning for their reunion every day, he still managed to bring it up enough that Bucky eventually had to snap and tell him to knock it off before he and Steve ended up breaking up too.

Of course he hadn’t meant it. Bucky was realistic enough to know he wouldn’t ever stop being Steve’s friend anymore than he’d ever stop loving Sam. However, he couldn’t take the constant needling, and he would’ve said anything at that point to get it to stop, because just like he knew he’d never stop loving Sam, he knew they’d never be getting back together — not after the way it had ended, not after the awful things he’d said — and Steve’s constant harping didn’t do anything but remind him of that fact.

So, Bucky had crossed his fingers, gave Steve an ultimatum, and prayed that he wouldn’t call his bluff. In what Bucky could only call a miracle, Steve had given in, and promised not to mention Sam again, and he hadn’t… until now, years later.

“What happened?” Bucky asked, frantically, automatically fearing the worst. “Is Sam okay?”

Steve hesitated briefly, before responding. “Well, not really.”

In your IF, are all the different lifetimes the reasons why there are so many different versions of arthurian story? Do they like, got reincarnated in another time or is it more like, they live again but in a somewhat different universe? Since mc is gonna end up with them, does that mean once they go back home there will be one of arthurian story where the mc themself appears in the story (since they are the sword bearer and possibly, arthur/merlin/morgana's partner/lover)? Also, will we be alone or will (our) lancelot also be there when we got thrown to camelot?

All the different lives are indeed the reason for so many versions of the myth. With each new beginning, a somewhat different universe opens up, but in Mc's version what changes is that some people begin to remember their previous lives. Not just Merlin.

Mc will indeed create a unique version of Arthur's story. The last one...which scares Merlin because this one had better be good.

Our cousins will unfortunately not be there, only the first born can open the door to Albion and cross it.

agree about the possible weed out…i don’t think as many will drop off as she expected but it will let her finally ‘grow up’ when some adults realize Taylor Swift listeners aren’t just ‘little girls.’

The crazy thing about it is that in the brief time I spent on tiktok today I saw quite a few people saying they got it now and were becoming fans…and none of the pearl-clutching antis everyone is talking about. Same on twitter. I do think there are a few people realizing she’s just not for them and it’s okay to just love folklore and not Taylor Swift. But far more people are connecting with the brutal honesty and growth on this album than I expected even after hearing it.

I literally never talk about this on here, but it is definitely dance. I've been doing irish dance for like. 20 years... which is a very long while. But I love it, so there's no reason to retire yet.

At lunch; I had spaghetti and toasted olive bread :)

I think we can be hanging out, listening to music and just talking. And we can have iced drinks because it will be the perfect temperature outside

I can't think of anything specific; like when I'm obsessed with a certain character or media I will 100% think about that in different scenarios non-stop, or like I guess if there's something coming up I imagine how that will go in my head leading up to it

Shana! 'You never can tell' please!!

Okay, so at this point I have 1700 words of this. It’s a one shot stand alone AU of my own WIP AU fic, Weep Not for the Memories (something that I will finish one day lol). I’m a happy ending gal at the end of the day, so the premise is essentially: What if Sam and Bucky decided to get engaged during their senior year of high school and their parents got upset… but then everything basically turned out fine? lol Anyway, here’s a snippet:

Paul put down his coffee cup and eyed Sam and his boyfriend. They were being weird. Well, weirder than the average pair of teenagers who had forced their families to meet and have dinner together, and Paul was ready to know why.

Actually, Sam had been nervous and jittery all week: slipping out of a room whenever he or his mom walked in, keeping conversations short and sweet, even the one where he had insisted they invite the Barnes family over for dinner had lasted less than three minutes. And for the first few days Paul had just assumed his son was avoiding telling them about a bad grade, or a detention, or something else that would definitely have them upset, but certainly wouldn’t be the end of the world.

However, as he watched the two boys keep making eye contact and then looking away, their expressions giving off the vibe that they’d actually like to be anywhere else in the world than at the meet and greet they orchestrated, Paul could actually feel his blood pressure going up. What in the world was going on?

As if he could sense his dad was quickly running out of patience, Sam spoke up.

“Hey, Sarah.” He looked across the table at his younger sister. “Why don’t you go show Becca your room?”

“Sure, Sammy,” she said, sounding almost subdued, and motioned towards Becca. “Come on, I’ll show you my new laptop.”

And that — the ease with which his daughter complied with the request without asking why or even pulling a face at being asked to leave the room, along with the almost encouraging smiles both girls sent their respective brother — had alarm bells going off in Paul’s head.

“What’s going on, Samuel?”

The girls were barely out of earshot before the words came rushing out of Paul’s mouth.

Sam could tell his dad meant business. His father wasn’t even trying to hide the no nonsense look on his face. And even though his mom was smiling serenely and George and Winifred were both looking on with polite curiosity, the tension in the room was palpable. It was obvious that all four of them were ready to know just why their kids had called them together.
