Well my favorite scenes are in episode 5. I love all her interactions with Loki and Mobius in that episode. I just think she’s so cute in the blanket scene and when Loki and her are enchanting Alioth.

If I had to pick a scene not in that episode, honestly probably when Ravonna comes in after Hunter B-15 takes her back to Alabama and she gives her that sassy smile.

I could never just pick one…I just love how sassy she is but on the inside she really does have a sweet side. I just love her.

OKAY so, gonna keep it short because... *glances at schoolwork*. This date is... exciting and a bit wild. I like how papergames is trying new things with all the special effect in this date (not saying that they’re new, it’s just that... they usually on main story rather than date, and it really gives an exciting feeling).

I think this date feels like getting to know him again, without him knowing anything about MC. We slowly explore him, who was indifferent at first, then become intrigued by MC’s answer. This make him both guarded and curious. But then, over times we also see him slowly become unguarded in front of her (even worrying about her). And finally after MC feeling him up reach the conclusion that he loves her (the strange feeling) and has this deep connection with her. The connection is based on something deeper than just memories or experience, but rather on fundamental sense of familiarity, it was soul deep. She completes his world. Even though Lucien didn’t have any memory of her, he feel a sense of wholeness with her.

About Lucien’s two (actually not so) hidden desires to explore and possess her- I think this already clear in the date. MC still chooses him despite his flaws and facades (Because I will choose all of you and only you.), despite his attempt of exploring and possessing (and even though he didn’t try, she will still choose to fly to him). Because loving him is the choice that she already made since long time ago, and she is committed to loving Lucien for all that he is.

Overall, I think this date is really fresh and offers deeper insight about their relationship. Whether it’s their soul deep connection or how love is a choice. I also quite like all the shenanigans that Lucien made. It’s not everyday you see him with all of his trickster potential revealed in front of MC lol.dye

Can't say I always agree with how you conduct your blog or your opinions. Sometimes they are fair and other times I think it's divisive and stereotypes white people the same way we hate being stereotyped, and a lot aren't racist, but it's your blog so you do you boo boo.

One thing I do respect is you not willing to push the racist narrative against Sam Reid without proof. He is awkward as hell but does seem like a genuine friend to my baby Jacob and was hyping up Delainey's performance to the journalist and looking out for her with Jacob according to her. Bailey also said how much she liked him. He also had nothing but nice things to say about working with Gugu on Belle. He hasn't proven to be a racist just because he read Anne Rice. So respect for putting out there that you aren't going after him just because others tell you too.

They say coincidences can be interpreted as clues to our destiny. Well, today, I'm counting down four amazing coincidences that would make you do a double-take. Let's start with Game of Thrones alums Jacob Anderson and Nathalie Emmanuel.

As Game of Thrones fans, we're all familiar with Grey Worm and Missandei's ill-fated love story, but did you know that the former co-stars went on to star in separate projects as vampires? Yes, you heard that right. Jacob Anderson, formerly known as Grey Worm, lassoed a lead role in AMC's series, Interview with the Vampire, as the complex, forlorn vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac; enticing audiences with his and his co-star's (Sam Reid) electrifying scenes. Similarly, Nathalie Emmanuel was featured in the gothic horror film The Invitation, as the descendent of an ancient vampire family. To say the least, it would seem coincidences have a way of leading these two actors to where they were supposed to be, but it doesn't end there.

Like rings circling Saturn, sometimes it takes years, if not decades to lead one person to the role they were meant to play. Take for example, Sam Reid. When Sam Reid snagged the role as Dido's love interest (played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw) in the 2013 historical drama, Belle, he never imagined he'd be playing one of Anne Rice most iconic characters ten years later; turning a role played by several actors into the most memorable and awe-inspiring incarnation to date. To watch him as Lestat, you'd think he was absolutely possessed but I digress. The coincidences I noted doesn't end with Reid but actually begins with Gugu Mbatha-Raw in Black Mirror.

Earlier, I alluded to the fact that like the rings of Saturn, sometimes people are traveling towards a predetermined destination. In Gugu Mbatha-Raw's case, that's double true. In 2016, Gugu along with her co-star Mackenzie Davis starred in a Black Mirror episode called San Junipero. It was the fourth episode of the British syfy and it featured vivacious party girl Kelly (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) falling head over heels for shy, homebody Yorkie (Mackenzie Davis), in a 1987 virtual reality simulator. It was a fantastic…no, beautiful love story between two women with a happy ending and one of Black Mirror's most popular episodes.

But what struck me about the role that Gugu played was not only the affect it had on fans of the syfy show but also the affect it unknowingly had on propelling her former co-star (Sam Reid) to land a role in which the dynamics of his characters relationship with the lead who played opposite him (Jacob Anderson) as well as the dynamics of the relationship between the actors themselves, were strikingly similar if not the same. Watching Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid interact pulled me back to the days when San Junipero dropped on air and drew accolades from critics in television and film. There's something magical about it, as if Gugu and Mackenzie stepped through that door of possibility so that Sam and Jacob could fly. You know what I mean but I'm getting ahead of myself. That's not the only coincidence there is. The next and last one will absolutely blow your mind.

Last but not least, our fourth amazing coincidence has to do with co-stars Jacob Basil Anderson and Bailey Bass. Did anyone in the #iwtv fandom know that the stars that play Louis de Pointe du Lac and Claudia have the same birthdate. That's right, Jacob and Bailey were both born on June 18th, 13 years apart.

I don't know what it is, but these talented actors seem to be destined for something big. From my vantage point, the stars seem to be aligned in their favor and that's all for today, folks.

I think about this moment a lot.

Like. It feels really rude that Fushi’s just brushing Tonari off like this, jerking his hand away as if he’s annoyed she even tried to touch him in the first place. The fact that we don’t even see his expression when he does this makes it feel extra brutal. But I think a lot of people see this scene as if Fushi rejecting Tonari’s ‘advances,’ so to speak, and I’m not convinced that’s what’s happening here.

Like, yeah we see that big love bubble at the corner of the panel while she’s telling Fushi how important he is to her, but Tonari’s just reflected on how she feels about him and ultimately rejected her own feelings. Romantic love is not something she wants to feel for Fushi. So I don’t think she was working her way up to a confession. At least, not intentionally (it’s not her fault Fushi’s an empath)!

Instead I think this scene is supposed to be a parallel of the moment that happens between Gugu and Rean.

Gugu doesn’t tear his hand away from Rean’s because he doesn’t want to hear her confession. He isn’t running away because he doesn’t love her back. Gugu pulls away from Rean because he’s rejecting the concern she has for him and his safety. He realizes there’s something greater that he needs to focus on, something he feels only he‘s strong enough to take care of. And he wants to take care of it to keep her and the people he loves safe. Gugu loves her, it’s just not the right time for him to indulge in it.

In my opinion Fushi feels similarly to Gugu (not the reciprocation part though). He appreciates Tonari’s concern and love for him- that’s why he smiles a little and thanks her- but it’s not the right time for him to indulge in that. He‘s still trying to prove that the world is at peace (something he’s doing because of her, for her), he doesn’t need or want her getting involved in his fight against the nokkers.

I wanna reemphasize that I’m not trying to argue that Fushi secretly reciprocates Tonari’s romantic feelings- he’s already said he’s never felt that way about anyone before. I just don’t think he’s outright rejecting them either.

I think the hands in this scene are also what get people thinking this scene is a little more romantic than it is. It’s a standard cliche where one character stops another from leaving after all lmao. But this to me is what solidifies this as a scene that’s not inherently romantic.

Them grabbing at each other like this is a much older, a much deeper thing for them. Back when they were on Jananda, they’d often grab at each other’s wrists because they could never quite see eye to eye. Tonari specifically would grab at Fushi’s wrists a lot when trying to impose her will on him and drag him along. Once they start understanding each other, however, their hands actually touch (ex. Tonari pressing Oopa’s blow dart to the back of Fushi’s hand).

This scene is a little mix of the two. Tonari’s grabbing Fushi’s wrist to stop him from leaving (imposing her will on him) but her hand overlaps with his palm a little (trying to understand him). Tonari doesn’t know what’s happening completely, but she knows enough to know something’s wrong. In a way, Tonari grabbing for his hand is her appealing to Fushi to open up, to let her in, follow through on this connection that’s always been theirs.

But he doesn’t. Fushi rejects it.

I think the chapter image shows it all pretty well too. They’re both reaching out for each other. But while Tonari’s solid in her attempts to reach him, Fushi's all fuzzy. It's as if these are his emotions. Like, subconsciously he wants to reach out, but he can't. So close, yet so far…

Contemplating my answer as I've come to the realization that ships are really just a way to self report on how you view relationships or how yours are in real life (is that just me?)...

Suffice it to say, I generally like ships that are a leetle antagonistic in jest, but are warm and fuzzy at the core.. generally. Unsurprisingly, a lot of the ships I love most are also featured on this list of recs. Thank you for asking, I'd love to hear about what ships you'd recommend as I'm always looking for something new to obsess over. In no particular order:

A Special Place In My Heart

Inclusion of the ship may not necessarily be a gold seal of recommendation for the source material so.. grain of salt.

Kyouko Hori & Izumi Miyamura, Horimiya - innocent and navigating the obstacles of coming of age. They each get a sense of redemption (just looks a bit different) but also they are silly and comfortable.

Shuumei Sasaki & Yoshikazu Miyano, Sasaki and Miyano - genuinely? Earnest Gentle x Considerate Gentle but also funny. Butterflies and second hand embarrassment, just what you'd expect from falling in love in high school.

Narumi Momose & Hirotaka Nifuji, Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku - because of course. Authentic acceptance of one's shameful quirks and hobbies even if it isn't readily apparent that one of them has been invested a whole lot longer than the other.

Ranma Saotome & Akane Tendou, Ranma 1/2 - don't judge me, I was young, immature even. Tsundere x tsundere will have you fighting for your life on that "will they, won't they" ledge. If you haven't seen it, think Inuyasha & Kagome (same mangaka and Ian Cox voices Ranma in later seasons and goes on to voice Inuyasha).

Miaka Yuuki & Tamahome, Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play - she won.

Tatsu & Miku, The Way of the Househusband - not a ship but a fact of life.

Hayase Nagatoro & Naoto Hachiouji, Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro - ... another "don't judge me" inclusion. These two are "pause the show to recover from second hand embarrassment" but so am I.

Gugu & Rean Cropp, To Your Eternity - because first and foremost, I'm a sad bitch and their story accomplishes more in like.. a few episodes than some ships do in an entire series.

Chapter 171.2 Rough Summary

As a reminder, I won't be translating the chapter this week. But since the official release won't come out until Wednesday, I thought I would do this for anyone who can't wait.

Kai asks who gave the doll her tagchip. The doll doesn't know what he's talking about, and he says she's wearing one around her neck. She pulls out the tagchip that we've seen in her memories.

The doll doesn't know what it is or when it got there. Kanitarou gives the run down on tagchips: every human has one inside them and they give humans their freedom and rights. The doll is ecstatic.

The doll thanks Kai for giving it to her, and he explains that he didn't do it. The doll wonders where it came from for a second, maybe it was the ramen stall owner, but decides it doesn't really matter. She asks Kai to show her how to use the tagchip, but Kanitarou rains on her parade by reminding her that they don't work on toys.

Cue long explanation by Kanitarou on how tagchips are implanted that I skimmed because it hurt to look at. The doll gets pissed at him and complains that he always talks too much (I felt a sense of kinship in that moment). Kai wonders whose tagchip it is and why they removed it from their body.

The doll says it must have been the ramen stall owner again. On the subject of the ramen stall owner, she thinks of ramen, and then of the dream she had of ramen, and then the dream she had of the tagchip.

That train of thought leads the doll to her dream of the girl with the blindfold. Kanitarou calls her stupid because dolls can't dream. Kai asks her what the girl looked like and Eko brings her pot out so the doll can show her her memories. But before they can do that Eko notices that the tagchip is saying something and snatches it away.

The tagchip displays the image of a 5-star girl whose name is listed as Number 32, and says that she's dead. The doll notices that this is the same person who appeared in her dream and Bon notices that she looks exactly like Mizuha.

Gugu asks what happened to the Guardians, and Bon says that Mizuha dissolved them but the remnants formed Kaibara Cybernetics. Hylo says that Mizuha was dead by the time tagchips were implemented (meaning she couldn't still be alive by the life extension affect of the chips). Gugu asks if that means 32 is one of Mizuha's descendants, but Tonari says no, it's clone of Mizuha.

Tonari reveals that she learned of this some years ago, when she spied on Kaibara as a ghost and saw that they have a number of children who resemble Mizuha. She told Fushi, but they apparently already knew about it.

In order to keep Hayase's bloodline alive, they have a ton of Mizuha clones working at Kaibara as employees. Bon realizes that Number 32 means the girl is the thirty second clone.

Tonari wanted to get rid of the doll because Kaibara can track the tagchip to their location, but getting rid of the tagchip should work as well. Hylo and Messar agree with her.

The doll tries to get them to change their minds, because she needs the tagchip to become human. She believes that 32 gave it to her so she could do that. But Tonari asks her why she wants to do that in the first place.

The doll is taken aback and feebly starts to reply that it was because the ramen stall owner told her to, but Kanitarou butts in and declares that if Tonari, Hylo, and Messar try to take the tagchip, he'll stop them with his super arm.

March and Eko join him. Bon and Kai try to deescalate the situation, but March makes them join her. Gugu is still undecided. The chapter ends with the two teams facing off.

Loki - Season 2 (2023) Review

Ke Huy Quan is literally jumping from multiverse to multiverse. At this rate he should only be allowed to appear in projects about the multiverse, as one can never get enough of hearing him fast-talk sci-fi mumbo jumbo exposition. Ke Huy Quan - never change your wonderful weird self.

Plot: Season 2 of Loki follows the death of He Who Remains, with Loki desperately trying to figure out how to keep the multiverse from unraveling into another war and hold the TVA together.

I hear that the new The Marvels film is a turd. In fact, as of late all that Marvel has been doing is turd after turd, as if the entire studio had suffered a collective food poisoning and is now regurgitating and also releasing crap out of their bowels. Since Endgame they have really struggled, with of course some exceptions such as WandaVision, No Way Home, and Guardians Vol. 3 sticking the landing, but those are far few amongst a plethora of oversaturated dull superhero content. In this day it's all about quantity over quality, and the cracks are finally beginning to show with the negative critical response and diminishing box office returns.

So I am more than surprised to reveal that the new season of Loki that has just completed its run on Disney+ is actually really good. Great characters, solid storytelling, exciting twists and turns, well-done visual effects (another aspect lacking in other recent MCU projects), an exhilarating music score, and great production design - it's all there. I read somewhere that season 2 of Loki is the first MCU project to not undergo any reshoots, and it shows. The writers evidently had a solid plan from the beginning and stuck to it, and thus the results show. What a plan it must have been. I can only imagine what kind of Charlie Day-level board of post-it notes and interwoven lines they would have had to organize the time-dealing narrative. The writers really manage to deal with a big-scale multiversal time-traveling scope, yet at the same time succeed at keeping things grounded by focusing on the character development of its central cast.

I had mixed feelings about the first season of Loki. I enjoyed some ideas, the Tom Hiddleston/Owen Wilson pairing was enjoyable and the visual palette stood out. But there was plenty of useless filler, the character of Sylvie annoyed me to no end, and it only truly found its footing in the last couple of episodes. Oh, and Richard E. Grant's cameo was great, but when has Withnail not been good?? In comparison though Season 2 feels like a full-fledged pay-off to the events of the first season. So much so that it never really felt like any episodes had unnecessary junk in them. Each episode was filled with lots of stuff going on, with the show moving at a very fast pace. I'd say the first half of the season takes some time getting into, so the showrunners could have patched it up more, but the second half definitely balances it out. The production design also seems to have improved this season. The set pieces were all very well designed, and the detail put into the look of the TVA felt like this show had the budget of an HBO Max Game of Thrones-type series.

The cast are all great. Luckily there is less of Sylvie (no offense to the actress) and that weird Loki-to-Loki romance subplot is largely ignored thank the heavens. Also the writers must have taken on the feedback from the previous season and have now given us more buddy time between Hiddleston's Loki and Owen Wilson's Mobius. Those two together are hilarious, and share some of the best moments this season. Tara Strong gets more chance to lean into the creepy element as the eerily cheerful voice of Miss Minutes. Ke Huy Quan and Eugene Cordero manage to deliver the scientific exposition in an entertaining and breezy way, even if what they re saying doesn't always make sense, but like who's looking for logic in the MCU? Gugu Mbatha-Raw returns as Renslayer, and honestly, the season could have done without her. The writers seem to desperately want to include her, but her character has hardly anything to do. Rafael Casal as a rogue TVA agent also didn't work for me. The chap's acting was way too over the top and silly.

Naturally one must touch upon the Majors problem that Marvel is facing. They are really leaning into Kang as the Big Bad with more set-up than Thanos has ever had, yet the actor playing him is in some serious legal trouble. So will be interesting to see how Marvel gets out of that one should the court find Jonathan Majors guilty of the accusations, but nevertheless let's talk about Kang in this show. The essence of Kang is felt throughout the entire season, and naturally, some variants are involved. Primarily the character of Victor Timely, and look, I'm hearing many rave about Majors' performance as Kang but I'm not buying it. As Timely he's this blubbering awkward scientist who comes off way too over-the-top. At the end of the season Timely does find his groove and I actually began liking him, but as a Kang variant, he's not threatening at all. In Ant-Man as the Conqueror, he is just this macho man with a big mouth but not much else to him. And then all those variants in the Quantumania credits scene where they're all dressed up as if they are part of the circus, and then many of them screaming like apes.....like c'mon. He's supposed to be the Big Bad, but whatever Majors and the writers are doing, I don't get it. Except when it comes to the Loki season 2 finale...

So the finale of Loki season 2 is easily some of the best television work Marvel has done, at least in regards to the Disney+ shows. It brings not only the events of the entire Loki show to a satisfying close with a sense of finality that hasn't been felt since Avengers: Endgame, but also gives Tom Hiddleston's character such an incredible arc, from seeing how he started out back in the first Thor film, and how his intentions and persona have changed, yet the irony of life still plays its part and where his character ends up at the end of season 2 of Loki was really awesome. In fact, it's such perfect closure to his character that I don't believe we need to see him again. I get that the Marvel machine would naturally want to bring him back down the line, however… I don’t think it should happen. As much as I do love Tom Hiddleston as Loki, I think sometimes things need actual endings. And it was such a fitting yet tragic arc for Loki that I think adding anything else to the character, whether a multiversal variant or what have you, would only cheapen what they accomplished last night. As for the aforementioned comment about Kang, in this finale episode was the first time where we actually witnessed a Kang variant have some real power that could have big ramifications. Not the kind of cheap physical macho stuff they had in Quantumania - nope. In the Loki season 2 finale his power was more of knowledge and skill, which depending on how they take it from here could be really interesting.

Loki season 2 is a visual and narrative treat for any sci-fi time-travel pop culture fan and is very much a reminder that when the time and creative effort are put into a project, Marvel still has the potential to deliver. It is a shame then that these occurrences are happening less and less, but nonetheless, this show is worth celebrating. Also, we finally got to see Owen Wilson's Mobius on a jet-ski! That is what I call fan service done well!

I've never seen her before but YES OMG! She's perfect, really! Image below the cut for folks who don't want their image of Doc changed by who I picture (which isn't the right answer for how Doc looks btw, she's meant to be however you see her, be it yourself or someone else entirely!)

Yeah this is 110% Doc on outbreak day and when Joel shows up in the QZ. Only change I really have for her is that I always picture Doc with just an absolutely insane amount of curly hair. Just piles of curls that go a little everywhere unless she actively tames them.

Another face claim for Doc folks have shared with me is Chyler Leigh and I love her, too!!

Some else I love for Doc is Gugu Mbatha-Raw. She's so beautiful and so talented and I think just has the vibe ❤️

Face claims are so fun! I love using the you format for writing and leaving things open for people to develop their own appearance for a character (be it themselves or someone else) but I do love finding ways to visualize characters.
