🤥 LYING - are they good liars? do they have tells to show they're lying?

Izzy can lie, but doesn't want to! People mostly can't tell she's lying unless she lets them know, and she will snap and admit bullshit because of the pure discomfort. She just prefers to be direct! The one successful lie she committed to was pretending to join the League on their own terms, hiding that her true motivation was to study whatever weird "filth" Valtr was raving about and hopefully benefit from it!

☀️ SUN - are they a morning person? what is the first thing they do in the morning?

Izzy's mornings are normally long and idle, she takes her sweet time to "properly" wake up always chilling for some more time in bed, combing her hair, thinking about her dreams, then napping some more but in another spot.. After her waking up add 1-2 hours until she actually wake up for the day (unless there is emergency). When that happens, she washes her face with a cold water. She also stretches the same way cats do xD

🕷️ SPIDER - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?

Izzy is, in fact, scared OF irrational people! Not something most people expect from someone so beasthood-affiliated, but Izzy has plenty of logic and reason. Dangerous people that can yet provide her a coherent idea of their reasoning and motivation like Laurence (or Micolash before his 'fanatic' era) don't bother her beyond being ideological enemies. People like Logarius, Ludwig or the Choirlings, on the other hand, put a pit in her stomach...

She conquered her fears to the point of being reasonably careful to not get herself harmed and killed and will turn tail if being shot at or threatened by a much stronger enemy without a damage for her pride. What counts as 'worst nightmare' is being bewitched by a Great One to the point of losing freedom and self, similarly to how Ludwig, Micolash and many Choirlings got charmed by their guy (well, girl). Thankfully, she is associated with Fauna the Great One beast that is more cooperative and on the contrary honours autonomy; even speaking or fighting in sync with him feels for her like it makes her more, not less.

🙉 HEAR-NO-EVIL - what is the worse thing your oc could hear from someone?

You should NEVER let her be aware that she is not as different from Laurence as she thinks she is. At some point Izzy does become aware and both him and Laurence are very far gone, but do NOT tell her this before she is 'ready' :')

🎭 MASKS - do they act differently around certain people? what's different between the way they act around friends, family, strangers, etc.?

Izzy is rather insolent around his 'ideological enemies' and likes to troll them for a good measure when he isn't busy trying to make them THINK, very on-edge and aggressive around 'fanatic' type of enemies that scare her, both friendly and pulling the over-familiar rudeness with strangers. With friends she is very caring and understanding, even if she might be rude or abrasive without meaning to hurt them (simply very open, honest and emotional). She could not bring herself to hurt a friend even if they ditch her or straight up betray her, the worst she will do is to have a kicked puppy attitude... But her friendship is hard to earn.

He tends to give a thought to societal rejects and straight up "bad" people, not in Djura's 'we all might end up like this tho :(' kind way but in 'I believe what we hate is natural for humans' way.. This trait of his strongly accelerated ever since Healing Church started propaganda and amount of declared "heretics" increased. When Izzy crushes on someone she doesn't know what to 'do' about it and simply shows more affection to this person... She doesn't even bother with confession, let alone understanding how relationship and dating works! But when someone attracts her sexually, she will be open with her.. uhhh, compliments, let's call it that. 98% of his family memories and interactions are his father and Izzy really resents him.

☁️ CLOUD - a soft headcanon

Izzy was the second person that accepted Garlan (Suspicious Beggar) for who he really is, a rare person with Loran descent that was born with beastly traits lurking. First was his father, lurking as kind of a Loran Cleric but electric-leaning rather than fire. Izzy and Garlan liked having friendly fights with scratching and biting, like kittens xD Also, when Garlan devolved into a beast form, Izzy enjoyed scratching his belly :3

💢 ANGER - what are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?

He is a very pragmatic, often cynical man, taking calculated risks and only bothering investing emotions and time in "worthy" people. This can make people, even his friends, develop very negative impression of him and think he is an adaptable rat with no morals that just joins the winning side or the one useful for him. It would take time to internalise that he is more complex than this and does have a heart. People need quite a heart-to-heart, or to see him beat the shit out of someone that hurt his friend, to lessen the negative opinion unless they're basically mind-readers hahah. He also might be a bit snappy and rude when he is strongly focused on something, which is unbearable when you NEED to tell him something!

😨 FEARFUL - when scared, do they go into "flight" or "fight"?

He tends to retreat to calm down his senses and figure an efficient way to eliminate the threat. 'Fight or flight' refers to state of anxiety transcending rational thinking and it is extremely hard to get him be like this! But if it happens, he will rather flight.

🙈 SEE-NO-EVIL - whats a side of your oc that they don't want to show other people?

He doesn't like to show his emotional side, that he is not always so collected and pragmatic and still has weaknesses. It is one thing to need to communicate that he does have morals and heart despite using what opportunities he has, and will cheat his principles when someone genuinely needs to be punished. But it is another thing to admit that these seized, hidden emotions can be STRONG, and that he struggles all the time.

🌱 SEEDLING - what is their most vivid memory from childhood?

He witnessed a person getting struck by lightning. And not only he was fascinated, but also afterwards was a bit too eager to see the corpse with fascinating scars. He remembers both the event itself, and the reaction he received from others telling him what callous, cruel, crazy child he was. Plenty of children develop curiosity before they developed compassion and morals, and he was one of them. He still sometimes thinks back on how little he cared about that person dying before his eyes, especially since he knew him.. But at least, his interest in physics and specifically electricity got into him that day! He knew what he wanted to study since childhood, even if by such a "striking" event haha

👑 CROWN - what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?

He always wanted to be of help for humanity and simply be credited as progenitor of many follow-up inventions and inspiration for follow-up scientists! He knew his name would be in every book about physics... Well, due to circumstances, most of his inventions were weapons or otherwise helpful in military. He has some regrets, becoming the 'guy that invented more ways to kill' more than someone known for his inventions that would turn useful whenever Eldrich Nightmare ends. As a person, he wanted to be remembered as someone with the heart and morals despite how many deals with coincidence he HAD to make to proceed, and that can come true since he not only conducted research that was "heretical" amongst Healing Church hunters but died taking down a Vicar that was somehow even more evil than Laurence. Depends on what the descendants will think of the Healing Church!

☁️ CLOUD - a soft headcanon

Paarl didn't eat or otherwise kill the guy! Archibald gave Paarl his badge because he just gave it to all his friends, and even though he never knew Paarl before beasthood he counted him as a friend as well!

answering this ask very late, as I do most. but can I just say, having never met another system in real life (presuming you're a system may be too much, but a fellow dissociative person nevertheless) is something that brings me so much joy. I never thought I could find community in an online space, but it feels great to hear from other folks like me, and I sincerely hope to get more asks like this in the future.

as for Harry, I think reading him as someone with alters makes Disco Elysium so much more entertaining and relatable. obviously, being a system, I warmed up to that idea immediately. I'm certain I'm not the first one to read Harry as a system, though I haven't really done enough browsing in the DE tag to be sure.

my main thought is this, and I apologize if you were looking for something deeper- I think it's hilarious. I spend so much time in my day-to-day life listening to what my alters have to say, often unprompted. they give me their opinions, comment on my surroundings and experiences, etc etc. there's really never a dull moment, and I see myself reflected in Harry's experience. his "skills" are so witty, so sarcastic, so funny, extra, and even mean at times to him. it just reminds me of some of my experiences with my own system I can't help but laugh at. Harry has trouble children and know-it-alls, and scaredy-cats, and hotheads, all bouncing around in his head just like me. And I love it.

What are ur fav ships from the series?

Hi, great question! Truthfully I don't really call myself a "shipper" of anything.

I accept the canon ships: Gochi (I like this one because it just feels very gentle, also very "me"), Hanvi (I think their dynamic is cute), K18 (I'm very happy for them, it just works!), and Vegebul (I do like drawing some memes of them and I think Vegeta just looks like the kinda guy who belongs in Capsule Corp, big machine and space ship vibes). (Am I missing any?). I do draw these occasionally and as they fit into little stories I write. But I don't actually actively ship any of them.

I wouldn't call this a ship either, but I like the idea of the unrequited love happening between Launch and Tien; the poor guy just wants to yeet himself into the woods with Chiaotzu and train, never to be seen again, but Launch really seems to enjoy being around him XD

If the ship isn't explicitly canon then I probably don't entertain it except for randomly (ex. it comes up in conversation and I doodle a thing for it). I just don't really seek romantic tropes in media. :3

Tranquility

Sooo I wrote a thing based on possibly there being sever missions for the YW, ik its not a thing that will happen but I can do that stuff in my fics sooooo. Season of the Haunted in my stuff is both longer and so much more PAINFUL to say the least. So! Have Crow comforting Alira after she was unable to complete her severance ^^

Alira looked so peaceful while asleep, Crow couldn’t help but notice when he saw she had fallen asleep before him.

She was curled up to his side, ear resting on his chest with her arms wrapped around him, with his own wrapped around her in return tightly.

He hoped she was dreaming peacefully, he had seen her slumped figure when the fireteam returned from her severance unsuccessfully. Shame and despair, akin to his own he had felt when he failed his own severance before, he could feel through the bond, even with her tightly trying to restrain it from bleeding through the bond that now tied the guardians’ lights to each other.

Even if she succeeded in hiding it from her fireteam, he saw right through it. He followed her when she sneaked off to a hidden and secluded part of HELM while Raven and Alex had gone to talk to Eris, footsteps quiet compared to her shaky attempts at stealth.

She had been shaking, trembling as he could see the tendrils of the nightmare haunting her, the shifting form itself all but breathing down her neck, taunting her for her failure when he caught up, sorrow, shame and disgust with herself all but restrained from bursting by a thin thread through the bond. 

Thankfully, Uldren saw fit to swiftly chase the nightmare away, Light flaring as the nightmare hissed in displeasure before vanishing away, even if both the memory and Crow knew it wasn’t for good.

Alira had tried to say she was fine, but with a cracking voice and shaking frame, him feeling her light twisting in shame that he was even seeing her like this, he knew she was lying.

Crow had then taken her helmet off for her without much preamble, an act he was shocked she allowed with only weak and feeble protesting, to see she had been crying under her helmet even with her swiftly trying to rub at her face and deny it even still.

Unlike when she had comforted him after his failed severance, he found he was decidedly lacking in words that would reach her as hers did him, having heard the barbs the nightmare had thrown at her through the comms link.

Words that while weren’t nearly as biting to him due to not being the recipient, he still felt the hateful bite, felt them sink into her like a dragons maw and set a deep, painful ache in her heart that he could feel. That nightmare knew what to say to tear any resolve and as much of her as it could asunder.

So, upon dropping her helmet(With her ghost swiftly dismissing it altogether outright) he comforted her as best he could, he drew her close and let her hide her face against his cloak. Whispering assurances he could muster that it was okay, that she’d be able to do it next time whilst she quietly cried and sobbed into his shoulder, clinging onto him as tightly as he held her close. 

Even with her restraining her emotions so they didn’t fully bleed through to everyone else, as physically close as he was to her at this point, he felt her light albut despairing, dimming and keening in sheer shame and disgust and sorrow, all blended together into a painful, soul rending agony settled in her heart, one he was swift to try to soothe and assure, forgoing restraint on his end to let his light try to soothe and calm her own. 

To hell if the others sensed it, felt it through the bond. If words wouldn’t reach her like they had him, maybe, just maybe, his own light would reach hers.

Alira was shaking, hands gripping at his back as he could feel the absolute confusion as to why he was trying to comfort her and saying without words through his light that it was okay, and her albut asking in return without meaning to.

Why?

For as forgiving as she was to him, he realized with barely restrained alarm she was genuinely unable to comprehend how her own mistakes could be forgiven. After all that she and her fireteam had done to save the galaxy, one wrong step, one mistake could send everything-

No!

That only made him clutch her tighter to him, trying desperately to convey to her that she didn’t need to force herself to never make mistakes, to hold herself to an impossible standard. Her fireteam would be able to cover any mistakes she made, and….

If needed he would also be there to catch her if she fell. And next time she attempted a severance, both he and her friends would be there for her.

That seemed to just make her cry harder even if he could feel her light being soothed by his ‘words’, gripping onto him even tighter.

Even once calmed she refused to answer the pinging of her communicator, shame welling up in her again at the insistent ringing as she insisted to Orpheus (He knew her ghosts name was that, but with how rarely she said it, it was always a surprise when she did use it) with a begging tone for him to just deny the attempts at the others to contact her.

Crow ended up answering the communicator, assuring her worried friends she was fine, just….

Crow glanced at Alira, but she seemed distracted by her ghost and Glint doing their best to distract her with Fynch babbling on some sort of topic or another. Uldren’s memory floated close by, nodding to Crow as he endeavored to ensure Alira was distracted.

“She’s just…. You both can feel it, from her Light through the bond between us all, right?” Crow kept his voice low, low enough that hopefully she didn’t hear. “Her nightmare… it really messed with her.” Even now, he could still feel the faint, but distinct feeling of the shame, now tightly restrained again, but even so…

“I don’t think she’s in any state to attempt another severance, not soon anyway.” he admitted. “And… I don’t think it’d be wise for you to check in on her, not,” he sighs, struggling to find words to explain it. “Not right now, anyway. She feels like she’s disappointed you both, along with Cayde considering she thinks she let the nightmare get to her despite knowing you three would never say what it said.” 

He knew, just like with him to a degree, what the nightmare was spewing were likely thoughts she had kept deep on what she thought they would or perhaps even SHOULD have said to her regarding her actions in the prison of Elders. Thoughts she was ashamed were coming out now and couldn’t accept. Refused to acknowledge.

“Look, I’ll keep an eye on her until she’s ready, both to try again, and talk to you both.” Crow’s words felt fumbled, awkward considering she had been friends with the hunter and titan longer than she had been friends with him, but she really wasn’t in the best of states to talk to them. “She’s liable to get in her jumpship and flee cause she can’t face you two, let alone even Cayde as well, right now.”

He knew Alira that much at least, she was more prone to run from problems like this to get her bearings than charge at them like she often did the galaxy’s problems. At the very least, she was in no state to see them today and needed some space.

To his relief, the two hesitantly agreed to let him handle Alira for the moment, Raven citing the fact that, while by the time they got back to HELM Alira’s emotions were restrained, in the Leviathan…

Raven, at least, had felt the sharp whip-like crack of the emotions Alira’s nightmare had inflicted on her as if it were the exo’s own when Alira failed to succeed, the miasma of the Leviathan making it crack almost through the very air and not just between the bond. Alira’s near death silence after having profusely apologized despite the assurances that she was fine on the way back having not helped any.

And so, when she had timidly asked if she could stay with him for the night, not trusting the nightmare to not make a return to gloat while she attempted to sleep, he didn’t have the heart to say no.

Though he had offered to let her sleep on his bed while he took the chair, her vehement refusal had put that thought to rest despite the fact his bed was far from made with two people in mind. They had shared sleeping arrangements before, either on purpose or accidental such as after the bonfire so long ago, so it wasn’t wholly unfamiliar, but the circumstances were.

And so, with armor discarded for comfortable clothing, tears dried and the girl having long fallen asleep, Crow hoped she felt better in the morning, the thought making him cradle her closer.

Nnoitra being pissed at his loud neighbors felt like a callout to me. I try to be quiet and civil but the call of emotional grand musical numbers are too strong to ignore.

(Also, let's face it, Nnoitra probably isn't a saint either. I wonder how many noise complains he got from bringing so many one night stands over.)

It's easy. ❞ He spoke calmly up until his "impression" of himself, where his voice turned sharp and hostile, exactly how he would ( and had ) threaten his neighbours. He was not going to tolerate anyone's shit. His fucking number one enemy in the building right now, was the couple living the floor above him. They clearly had a fucking horrible relationship, because they argued all the goddamn time, and they ESPECIALLY liked to get into arguments in the evening, and in the morning. Sometimes ( like this morning ) it turned into an actual screaming contest.

In general, Nnoitra was not a loud person. He could raise his voice when he was angry, but mostly, he was quiet. He lived by himself so there was no reason for him to make noise. He didn't listen to loud music ( he didn't have a speaker system ). He wasn't handy, so he never fixed anything at home, meaning no banging of a hammer early in the morning or whatever. BUT YEAH, the ONLY time there WOULD be noise coming from his apartment was when he brought one-night-stands over. Nnoitra himself was quiet in bed, unless he was REALLY into it ( which he rarely was ). Probably a macho thing, huh? Have not listened to Taylor Swift in a Minute, though lol. Hmm....

I have a lot of couples, I've realized, but not very many with a thought-out romantic history. xP This may be another 'gotta twist it a little & apply it to a platonic relationship' song lol.

No wait! It's kind of theoretical (at least right now), but I do have a romantic relationship that this could fit.

Emilienne & Nissa.

Their relationship was ... A Lot. XD They were young, and a little dumb, and Nissa was straight out of a Terrible-with-a-capital-T situation & they probably shouldn't have gone right from barely-more-than-acquaintances to lovers but. Again. Young & a little dumb.

So of course there was drama & loud arguments in the middle of the night (& possibly some literal cursing, being some sort of magic-users xP).

And eventually they broke up, & Nissa took off somewhere & Emilienne winds up pregnant (with one of the MCs of the actual project, I'm just very attached to Nissa & Em) & honestly I'm not sure how long the baby's father stuck around bc he's definitely not around when the story starts & I really didn't put much thought into him, but.

Theoretically, it could have been a very nice little romance. He could have been the type of guy to open his date's door for her & tell her she looks beautiful & make nice with her parents & everything else.

And I can see Em just ... hanging out with him, maybe with their baby, maybe not even pregnant yet, thinking about Nissa, wondering where she is now, what she's doing, and god, but she misses having that passion, the intensity of every feeling, every word. Misses the quiet moments - braiding Nissa's hair, talking magic & technology & art & everything in between - and the loud - the radio turned up as loud as it could go while they cooked/danced/kissed, the storms they'd run out in the middle of just because they could. I can see her realizing she even misses the way they knew exactly which buttons to press to get certain reactions - if I say this in that tone of voice, you'll go cold and angry and your eyes will flash just like that, and if you do this one thing I'll snap like that - and how often they'd do it, for the same reasons they ran outside in the rain. Just because they could.

Oh, this got long. O_O xD I forgot how much I loved these two. I'll need to write things about them at some point soon.
