MCU Thanos is the happiest Thanos there is because he died before Marvel had the chance to cast Squirrel Girl.

Warnings: angst, fluff, emotion
No...
This wasn't supposed to happen.
You weren't supposed to die in space.
None of you were.
But Thanos had taken Gamora, and Peter, Drax, Mantis, and two of the Avengers you'd met all turned to dust right in front of you.
Your heart suddenly broke, knowing that Groot and Rocket were with Thor.
And now you were stuck in space with Nebula and Tony Stark.
Two people you were not incredibly fond of.
Once you were rescued and brought back to Earth, you learned that Rocket was alive, but Groot hadn't made it.
"What the hell happened to us, Kid?"
And even though he wouldn't admit it to anyone but you, he cried.
You cried for months after losing the love of your life.
But in the five years that followed that fateful day, you never moved on.
You kept yourself busy helping Rocket and Nebula to hold the Galaxy together and searching for Thanos while many of the heroes were 'dead'. And then one day, a bug dude showed up and brought the concept of time travel with him.
And this is how you ended up back on Morag in 2014.
It was the first time you'd seen Peter since he dusted. You desperately wanted to run to him and kiss him again, but this wasn't your Peter.
As he danced dramatically to 'Come and Get Your Love', you, Nebula and 'Rhodey'—as you'd been introduced—watched on at the utter ridiculousness.
Rhodey broke this silence.
"So he's an idiot."
You couldn't disagree.
"Yeah." You smiled sadly. "He's my idiot, though."
After all you'd been through there was no turning back now.
Portals opened everywhere in the ruins of the Avengers campus, and that's when you spotted Drax and Mantis, then—
Him. Your sweet, loveable idiot, Peter Quill. Sprinting over to join your found family once again, he spotted you and broke a smile. You returned it, giving him a desperate kiss when you reached him.
"I thought I lost you forever!" You cried, clinging to his jacket.
He looked confused. "It was only a few hours?"
Your head snapped up.
"Uh, try five years."
"What?..." He whispered, eyes widening as if horrified by the concept of you being alone for five years.
You turned towards Mantis and Drax, waving to them with a giddy expression. They both waved back, and you all faced the Mad Titan's army ahead.
And soon, you were right in the thick of it.
Lunging at a nightmarish humanoid creature, you blasted it before turning to cover Peter, who was fighting off two more. Once those were taken care of, you moved in and fought them back to back. Being close to Peter again felt like heaven, even in the battlefield.
Even when you saw all of the Female avengers joining to push back against the army, you were hesitant to leave Peter's side in fear that you'd lose him again.
"Go." He told you with a smile and a kiss. "I'll be here when it's over."
You ran after Mantis and Nebula, spotting...Gamora? You weren't sure how that worked, but you were glad nonetheless. It didn't feel right that Natasha wasn't there, but this, you felt, was to honor her. It was what she would want.
Fighting a pale squid looking thing, you watched over it's shoulder at Carol, the woman who had saved you in space, entering the fight. You cheered wildly and pumped your fist in the air. There was no way you would lose, now.
As you struggled with a Titan monster, you received some help from Groot, who skewered it with a thick branch while you blasted it in the head.
"Thanks, buddy." You high fived him.
"I am Groot."
"It's good to see you too!"
And all of the sudden, the Titans were disappearing.
It was then that you looked over to see Tony, slumped against a piece of wreckage, pale and barely breathing. It hit you that he had just snapped the enemy away, and that had drained everything out of him.
You shared a sad look with Rocket.
As dickish as Tony was, he had a good heart.
And he gave it all to save the world.
Everyone stood in silence as he breathed his last. And then one by one, they began to kneel. A king, a sorcerer, a captain, a soldier, an assassin, all from different backgrounds, honored one man. You kneeled and began to cry, knowing that he had a wife and daughter, one of which would be waiting for him.
After the funeral, you sat at the edge of the lake outside the Stark's cabin. Peter sat down next to you and slid an arm around your waist.
"He didn't have to do that." You bit back tears and leaned into him.
He signed deeply. "I don't think he saw a choice."
You had learned that Gamora, was in fact not the one you knew, but the one that didn't know any of you. The last you'd heard is that she'd run off in a ship from the battlefield.
"I missed you, Peter. You have no idea." You sobbed.
He pulled you closer "I'm sorry you had to go through that, babe."
"I...I couldn't bring myself to move on. You better treat Rocket right, too. He's the only reason I'm still here."
"I'm really glad you didn't. And, were on good terms, trust me."
You chuckled, giving a small smile.
"There it is." Peter crooned, kissing your jaw softly. "Wanna go get Dairy Queen before we head back out there?"
"Hell yeah!" You cheered.

Timeless lovin’ - Pt. 1
Pairing: 40s/CATFA!Steve Rogers x present!reader
18+ ONLY | MINORS DNI
WARNING - The following story contains: explicit smut (not in this chapter), angst, fluff, developing feelings/slow burn, spoilers, alternative reality.
Pt. | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Summary: Steve left for Peggy in the past, and you were determined to travel back in time and get answers after he left your relationship of 4 years behind him just like that. You get a little ahead of yourself and travel past where your Steve left off, and you meet Steve Rogers, - the man before he hit the ice and was frozen for 70 years.
Second person POV
Steve and you met each other through S.H.I.E.L.D. You first became familiar in 2014 when you became an agent for the agency. Steve worked as a counter-terrorist operative and was frequently put up on extreme missions which required the super soldier. You were in contrast put on easier but secretive missions, those of which required gathering information from anti forces of the U.S. government.
You were both too busy to exchange conversations, but you acknowledged each other with passing greetings. You had always thought Captain America was an admirable man, and you highly respected him. He seemed to have respect for you too, but he was known for having a big heart, and you knew it was anything but exclusive.
In 2015, when Steve was sent on less missions, he engaged in full conversations with you as you also became more available. There was of course the Ultron attack, but apart from that, crimes were quiet at this time around. You were moved over to writing reports at your office of the few missions that were in action. Steve would come by to ask about your well being, and sometimes drop a coffee off at your desk, - being the considerate man he was. A noticeable sexual tension was growing between you two with the way you would talk to each other, but neither of you acted upon it as it wasn’t deemed appropriate at the time. You sometimes wish you did.
Captain America disappeared from the face of the earth one day as a conflict had erupted between him and Iron Man, - also known as the civil war. He went undercover for 2 years without a word from him. You missed him a lot in that duration of time. It took a long time to get used to not having him pop in for a visit and greet you with coffee, just the way you liked it. Everything was as if he never existed, and you eventually accepted things would be that way until he shows up again, - or never.
Then another unthinkable happened in 2018 when half of the population were erased by Thanos. You were all put in a dark place, one that sought comfort from each other. Steve reached out to you at your office after years of not seeing each other, and a need to show more than just friendly kindness became an urge.
What started with desperate kisses and touches turned into rough sex, with you bent over your own office desk with Steve’s cock being thrusted inside of your cunt from behind. He wasn’t shy at all to test the grounds of fucking you, and you couldn’t say you minded with how good it felt to finally have a euphoric release after feeling down for some time.
The next four years would be the best ones of your life despite what would otherwise be the worst ones for many others. You officially became a couple, with Steve asking you out to a first date. One date turned into many, and you soon moved in together. He proposed to you two years into your relationship, and of course you said yes.
You retired as a SHIELD agent and became an office worker instead. Steve worked at several departments to help and restore damages that had been inflicted in the city due to the snap.
Steve had lost so much, but he had told you that he was still able to move on because you were there. You had become his everything. You were a reason for him to keep going. He showed how much you meant to him through his affection and the intimate moments you had. He put so many words perfectly together and made your heart melt with every sweet thing he said to you.
“You’re my doll. I’ll never leave your side, love.”
That used to settle it in your head that you would grow old with him. That you would soon marry, have kids and live the perfect family life, something you both had expressed wanting.
Little did you know at the time that he would do the opposite of what he had promised.
“Steve, I don’t know how I feel about this mission…” you shared when Steve brought up the plan the remaining Avengers had put together of traveling back in time to restore their failure and bring back half of the population that were lost.
“Love, I know you’re scared…I’m nervous about the mission too. But we need to try. We have planned this for a very long time now and you need to trust me when I say everything will work out accordingly to our plan. It’s not going to be like how it went last time. That was our last time failing. We will make everything right.”
Steve reassured, and kissed the top of your head as he stood by the door.
“Once I’m back, we’re getting married, love.” He huskily whispered the promise, and kissed the hand where your ring rested on your finger. “I love you.”
Those three words would be the last thing you heard from him before he left to the Avenger headquarters to go through with the mission.
48 hours later, and Steve had proved you right. It became world news within seconds that the people who were lost 5 years ago were now back and that Thanos had been defeated.
You remember being absolutely thrilled. You were so proud of Steve and the Avengers for managing the impossible. You were given an update from Scott through text that Captain America was doing alright, and that he would need a few days recovery before he could return home.
No one ever informed you about Steve’s second mission of returning the infinity stones to the past.
It was too late when you a week later asked about him and learned he never returned to the present.
2 years later…..
“Okay, so here’s the thing…—“ Bruce started, “The pym particles I have are not completely legit. They are clones produced by Dr. Strange’s sorcery and my knowledge in their substance, and while they match the substances they contain, the outcome from using them might not be completely the same.” He said, and picked one up to showcase you.
You narrowed an eye as you took the one Bruce held up, studying it with interest. “Do you know what kind of different outcome it may give if I use them?”
“Nothing too crazy, just simple things like, - specification of time traveling and whereabouts. You might not get to your chosen destination or year, so you’ll have to be more considerate and prepare for the unexpected.” Bruce hypothesized.
You were positive of going through with time traveling, even with the risks of having a harder time finding Steve. While this could be counted as one of your most challenging missions, you were up to the task.
“You’re still taking a risk though. This isn’t going to be like when we time travelled to get all the time stones where we were able to to go to a specific time and day. You will be sent to an unspecified year and place to your chosen time period. Not to mention we don’t even know where our Steve time travelled and continued his life, -“
“- It doesn’t matter.” You interrupted. “We know he left off for Peggy, so it must mean he left anywhere between Second World War to the beginning of the Cold War anyway. If I have to put my bets, I’ll guess he went back to the earliest time possible to continue his past life and relationship with Peggy. It’s not a big deal if I show up years later after he arrived there as long as I get to talk to him.” You said.
“Alright. If you’re sure about this, I won’t stop you. You have an extra pym particle, so if anything goes wrong, you just need to come back.” Bruce said, more so in question as he narrowed his eye at you.
“Of course, of course.” You reassured. “I just need to do this. It’s been 2 years and nothing has changed. I haven’t come to peace with the terms and I think a good talk and a screaming session with him will give me just that. I need answers. I know it’s pathetic, but honestly can you blame me?”
“I really don’t, Y/N. It was a shocker for all of us that he left behind his life here when he had said so himself that he had come to like it. I don’t know why he came to make that choice, but regardless it wasn’t fair on you. I totally get it.” Bruce sympathized, which made you quirk a smile.
All this time you thought you were insanse for not being able to leave Steve behind. People advised you to move on, and you tried. You went on dates and met new people all the time, but no matter how much you tried to move forward, you were held back by so many questions. Questions that haunted you and made you cry yourself to sleep as you went down memory lane, trying to find a single moment that you should have picked up on to know your relationship with Steve wasn’t everlasting.
But you couldn’t find a single one.
Why? Why did he leave?
What did I do wrong?
Wasn’t I enough?
Was our love ever real?
You didn’t know anymore about the last one. You couldn’t count all the times he had told you he loved you. He reminded you each time he came back from a mission, each time you woke up in bed beside him, each time you made love.
He had you on a chokehold, and he wasn’t there to release his hands on you.
Your thoughts were interrupted when you heard Banner rummaging through something in the storage closet.
“You can’t leave without some real useful gadgets. Here,” He put it on the table and gestured you to open up the safe.
You opened it up cautiously, only to find several cubes slotted safely in the protection cushion. Your eyebrows furrowed with confusion.
“What are these?” You asked, as you picked one up, surprised at how heavy it was.
“These are nanotechnological gadgets. They take forms as these tiny cubes until activated. The one you’re holding right there is a jet pack. Could be quite useful if you have to travel by far.” He explained. He then carefully picked up an earpiece with his hulk hands, “All you gotta do is wear this which is connected to all of them and call out after its given name, ‘Genesis’, for an activation.”
You nodded and took the earpiece into your ear. You looked into the little mirror on the table and saw that it suddenly shifted colour to match your own skin colour. You gasped, impressed by how well it blended. It was as if it wasn’t there.
Bruce laughed, “Isn’t that neat? That’s some ‘James Bond’ stuff right there. Another bonus is even if you loose them, they’ll transport themselves over to your location if you give that order. You can figure out what the rest of these are for by yourself.” He pointed at the other cubes and closed the safe. “Think it’ll be more fun for you that way.”
You chuckled, before a thought came to mind as you realized the suitcase was under the Stark industries trademark. “These were Mr. Stark’s though, weren’t they?…I couldn’t possibly take them.”
“It’s cool, I took part in creating these. I’m sure if he was still here with us right now, he’d lend one of his iron suits. Unfortunately I don’t have access to those as they are under Pepper’s name and all. I can only offer the things I have in the lab.” He said with an apologetic shrug.
Your eyes widened and you immediately shook your head, “Oh, no these will absolutely do! Thank you so much Bruce! I owe you a big one.”
He laughed. “Sure thing, kid. Now, let’s get started on this time traveling so you can kick America’s ass.”
You were up on the Time Heist machine with the safe and a backpack full of essentials, giving Bruce a final wave goodbye before you were swirled into the quantum realm for a nanosecond and into the past.
You were suddenly in an empty street corner of what you could presume was somewhere downtown New York. The town looked like it was in its fetus stage as you made your way to the Main Street, with barely any skyscrapers coming to view.
The team suit transformed and gave you conservative clothing, one that could pass as casual for women to wear during the 40s to 50s. There were young boys running around, selling the newest flyer to the curious adults, and posters promoting drafting were hung up on every light pole.
For some reason, you weren’t receiving any data of what time you had appeared in, but you could only guess it was the mid 40s based on your current surroundings.
Nervously you met the eyes of busy women and men who you passed by, not being mentally prepared for the social aspects of being in a time period of which your grandparents were probably living their early years of their youth. You were already feeling uncanny from knowing how out of place you were, but you could only remind yourself that this was just a quick visit to give Steve a piece of your mind.
“Genesis, I would like to have access of all governmental archives mentioning Steve’s proximities at this current time period.”
Genesis gave you multiple suggestions, but the primarily suspected location of Steve’s current whereabouts was a military base in Port Jervis.
2 and a half hour train ride? Not bad at all.
It sounded a lot better than using the jet pack, especially when other options were available.
You walked in a phone booth and unlocked the safe, reading through the functions to find what you were looking for.
“Genesis, I’d like to unlock the printer and print 20 US dollars and a fake ID card registered under military record, please.”
“Amy Preston from Newsburgh military base, is that right?” You nodded in response to the soldier who was checking your ID by the gate of Port Jervis military base. “What brings you here?” He asked.
“I have a couple of errands to run in connection with the mission in planning, sir.” You explained, as you straightened your military uniform and rested your elbows on the front desk. “The Howling commandos will be sent to Italy to infiltrate Hydra bases, and we may have some input of several coordinations which suggests where else they are hiding.” You reached out the documents which were actually accurate future knowledge.
You could tell the soldier was anything but focused on the papers though as he eyed your breasts through your clothes which you were firmly squeezing together to give off your sex appeal.
He cleared his throat and only took a few glances at the papers before returning them to you. “Alright ma’am, you may pass. Hope you have a pleasant stay with us while you’re here.” He said smugly, and winked at you before you carried on. You could only fake a smile until he was out of sight, your face pulling one of disgust.
The base was large, reaching as far as up to a hill. Vehicles were creating a traffic by the gate with several soldiers sitting on the open back trunks.
Some whistled at you as you walked past them, but you could care less of giving them your time of day. Your eyes scanned the area with interest for the one man you were looking for.
You walked around for a good half an hour, sneaking into tents to see if any of the men in there were Steve, but you had no such luck of spotting him. Then, as you walked though the weapon supplies area, a familiar face came to view. You saw Dum Dum Dogan talking to a fellow soldier, the man who after Steve’s presumed death would become the new leader of the Howling commandos. He was one of Steve’s close friends during the war. He had told you as such himself.
He has to be somewhere close then.
You reached the corner of a huge tent, and that was when you halted your steps. You had found him.
There he was. Carrying on with his duties as if he had never been frozen in ice for 70 years, become a beloved hero of the 21st century and captured your heart, promising a future as lovers only to break it and leave you behind.
He stood there, talking to Jim Morita, yet another one of his soldier buddies with what looked like a map as they were discussing something.
Your head boiled with fury, the sight of him alone making you want to scream your heart out.
I might just do that actually, You thought.
Fuck it.
“Steven Grant Rogers, — you piece of absolute garbage!” You called out after him, saying his name with pure venom.
Steve immediately turned to where his name had been called, completely dumbfounded as you stormed towards him, your steps firm as you kept your form tall and straight. The soldier excused himself and walked away, leaving more privacy to whatever this would be about.
“You really thought it would be this easy, didn’t you? That you could leave your girlfriend of 4 fucking years without as much as a goodbye? An explanation? An apology?” You spat at his face.
“Pardon, ma’am, I don’t think I follow -“
“Oh, shut up and cut the bullshit! You left me! Without a word! How could you?!” You shouted, your face flaring up with the pent up anger you had waited to release on him for 2 years. “You left for another woman who you hadn’t seen for decades and you thought I’d be okay with it? Because I’ll have you know I was not and am still not over what you did to me! After everything we’ve been through together, and you left it all, — like it meant nothing! Fuck You!”
Soldiers around the area were subtly following the the interaction from afar, some even snickering as the Captain was being told off by some woman who they could only assume was one of his many fangirls making a fit.
Steve looked around, embarrassed and confused as he sighed and said, “Please refrain from using that kind of language, there’s really no need to cuss at me when I don’t even know you. You must be mistaking me for someone else... ”
You saw Steve swallow, clearly getting agitated from your confrontation. You frowned at his mannerism. What was up with him?
Steve usually never showed nervousness and was good at keeping his composure.
You blinked, “What do you mean?….You really don’t know who I am?”
“No, I really don’t…no offense of course, but I’m pretty sure I would remember the face of my own girlfriend, - since that’s what you claimed to be earlier anyway…” he said with a sheepish smile.
You were frozen with disbelief.
“What month and year is it?”
“November, 1944, ma’am. Why?”
Wait…
Wait a moment…
Oh shit.
“So you don’t -…you aren’t my…”
You didn’t even want to complete that sentence as you knew there was no use. This was in fact not your Steve. You hadn’t considered how it wouldn’t be convenient for Steve to go in a time where his past self was still living.
Steve must have obviously travelled back after his past self got trapped in the Arctic. And now your last chance of having a talk with your Steve was put on a major stall because the time machine decided to be a real ass and send you the year before past Steve goes missing in the Arctic.
Actually it wasn’t technically in a year’s time, but 4 months since Steve would go on that mission and land the Hydra ship in February of 1945, 7 months before the war ends, - but still.
You had no idea at how long of a time you would have to wait for him regardless. You were internally having a meltdown, all the while Steve was standing there, not sure of what to make out of the whole interaction.
“Ma’am?…Are you feeling okay?” Steve asked with worry, his face tilted as he studied your empty expression.
You gulped and slowly nodded your head. “Erm…yeah, I’m fine…I just…” you shook your head dismissively as you pinched the bridge of your nose. “Actually, no. I’m not fine. At all. This is so bad. Worst part is I can’t even talk to you about it because you, - you don’t even know me yet. You don’t, - shit.” You cursed as tears were building up in your eyes.
You looked away as you began taking a few steps back, not wanting to showcase the misery you have kept in for so long and weren’t able to release because the right man wasn’t in front of you.
“Hey, don’t cry…I’m sure whatever you’re going through, you’ll find a way to solve it…” Steve tried to console as best as he could. He had frowned at the part where you had mentioned you couldn’t tell him because he didn’t know you ‘yet’, which left him to assume you were having a mental breakdown, or was simply confused.
Meanwhile in your mind, you were thinking of what you should do. You were figuring out how you were going to make this whole mission worthwhile, - if maybe you should tell him everything so you could get answers from him. After all, you were talking to the Steve who had fresh memories of the woman who he apparently loved more than you.
He was still Steve, but yet it didn’t feel right to put the heat on him as he had none of the experiences your Steve had. You felt stuck.
40s Steve POV
The woman’s lack of response in contrast to when she first came up to me left me concerned. My first assumption was she had some kind of mental illness. I couldn’t make any sense of what she had said to me, apart from knowing my full name.
“Ma’am, if you’d let me, I’ll take you to get help from the medical committee. It’s at the center of this base, -“
“I’m not sick, Steve!” She interrupted with frustration.
I flinched, not expecting for her to go full volume with her voice again.
“I-I apologize, I didn’t mean to insinuate you were…” I stuttered, and looked around again to see eyes were still on us from a distance. “Look, if you’d like to talk, we should maybe move somewhere else more…private. I would appreciate not attracting a crowd…”
She sighed and closed her eyes for a brief moment before she nodded in agreement. “Let’s.”
I took her with me to an unoccupied office where we could have a private talk about whatever she wanted to tell me. Her face maintained a pondering look, as if she was thinking about how to put words into sentences.
I could already tell I was in for more confusion.
“I came here to talk to you, but not you. I don’t, - I’m not sure how and if I should explain it…you’re not my Steve Rogers.” She said the last part in a whisper, but I heard it very clearly due to my enhanced hearing.
This dame is absolutely out of her mind, I thought.
“Then let’s begin with me pointing something out. You’re dressed in uniform, but you’re clearly not from our base. You’re missing a Howling commando pin on both sides of your suit. In fact, I don’t think you work for the military at all considering you’re missing a US star patch on your right arm.”
I didn’t miss the way she cursed under her breath as she looked up again to respond. “I had it on when I dressed up,…guess it was by pure luck I got in. I’m not surprised though. That soldier by the gate was practically checking me out.”
I didn’t expect her to be humorous, and she earned a chuckle from me as I wasn’t too surprised to hear that. Many soldiers were unfortunately too distracted in their male gaze.
“Of course. So, where are you from then? Did someone send you? Are you a spy? I asked, and narrowed an eye with suspicion.
“No. — I mean, I guess I could say I sent myself if that counts.” She answered with a shrug.
I shook my head, unamused by this woman’s game. “If you’re not going to be serious about this, I’ll have to send you in for temporary arrest and have you interrogated by a professional. It’s illegal for you to be here, you know.” I held her arm, to which she immediately protested by shaking her arm off.
“No need to have me on your grip. It’s not like I can outrun you anyway. You can run a mile in a minute.”
I crossed my arms, caught off guard that she was being factual about my physique, though no information of it had been released to the public from my knowledge. “How did you know that?”
“I know a lot of things about you, - because I was your fiancé.“ she said, as if it was the obvious.
“Okay,” I sighed and decided to play along for a little bit more. “If we are that close, tell me something no one else knows about me.”
She bit the inside of her cheek as she took a minute to think. For a moment I thought she didn’t have anything more to say. I turned around and wiped my eyes from drowsiness, until she opened her mouth again and said something that would completely shift the atmosphere;
“A strong heart will take you further than any physical strength. A strong heart means you'll never quit. —”
I stiffened, my face immediately turning to look at her, my focus not shifted on anything else anymore.
“— Sarah. Your mother said that to you before she died of tuberculosis in 1936.”
My stomach dropped when her eyes met mine again. I took steps forward, my face only inches away as my glare drilled into hers.
My jaw ticked as my eyebrows narrowed, my hands landing on her shoulder to not have her move away.
“How do you know that? Who are you?”
Her lips quirked a smile as she leaned in and said, “I’ve already told you. I was your fiancé, -
From the future anyway.”
N/A: First part of a 4-5 part series! Already working on part 2 & 3, so this should go somewhat smoothly. >:)

Re: Endgame. Oh, boy do I loathe Steve’s “resolution.” I read a quote where one of the Russos said that the hyper-patriotism of Captain America “belonged in the past,” so that was part of their thinking there.
And I just…that’s when it was confirmed for me that they never understood Captain America. Since his creation, Cap has been what the United States SHOULD BE, not what it is. And what could our country need more now than a guy who socks Nazis in the face?! He could not possibly be more timely.
Of all the things that the Russos have said about Steve (and yes, this includes all that whining they did about how COOL it would have been to have Thanos bowl 2014 Steve's head into the feet of his 2023 self and how LAME it was that the studio was rightfully horrified by that version of the script) that bit about him being the kind of "White, Patriotic American Male" that doesn't have a place in the present anymore...
That is the one that perpetually fills me (Emily) with rage.
Because HOW could you possibly look at Steve "I don't like bullies, I don't care where they're from/SHIELD, Hydra, it all goes/If I see a situation pointed south I can't just ignore it" Rogers and equate him with the red hat-wearing 'Merica Fuck Yeahs marching around saying "We're Number One!"
How could you do it? Just be honest. Just say "We're uncreative schmucks who couldn't figure out how to sunset Evans out of the franchise after his contract was up." Just say that! Don't burn his whole character to the ground and salt the earth with the WORST ENDING EVER.

Home || Peter Quill
Summary: Peter goes home
Warnings: Uhh none, I think?
AN) this is a rewrite of something I did after Endgame! if you enjoy, please let me know! Also yes, there’s a reference to his bisexuality because fuck it, we need bi rep and so many people forget Peter Jason Quill is bisexual.
Peter looked down at the stack of letters he had been writing for (Y/N). He felt nervous, guilty even for returning after all these years. He hadn’t purposely left, he was abducted. He isn’t even sure if she remembers him. Was it possible?
To (Y/N) August 1989
The oldest letter in the stack, written the year after he was taken. It explained what his life was like now. Telling her about his first year in space. Asking her what it was like in 4th grade. Apologizing for being gone. Promising to see her as soon as he could. An ‘I love you always’ sloppily written at the bottom as he rushed to finish it.
To (Y/N) October 1990
10 year old Peter wished her a happy halloween, asking her what’s popular on Earth. The ramblings of a child excited about being gifted his very own spaceship. He made it a point to tell her it was named after Alyssa Milano. He told her all about Yondu and the ravagers.
He wrote to her at least once a year. His handwriting slowly improved as he aged. He smiled down at the aged stacks of paper, thinking back fondly to his childhood. Peter shuffled through the letters, quickly glancing at the dates on each of them.
To (Y/N) May 2006
To (Y/N) July 2012
To (Y/N) August 2014
To (Y/N) November 2014
He paused on that one. November 2014. He wrote about his relationship with Gamora. He wrote about how he met his biological father, who just happened to be a planet. He wrote about the death of said father, and the death of the father that actually raised him. Yondu.
To (Y/N) April 2023
The most recent one. He’d written it after they’d all returned. He wrote about the death of Gamora. He wrote about battling Thanos on Titan. He wrote about being back on Earth, about the massive battle in New York. He wrote about Tony Stark’s private funeral. He wrote about wanting to see her.
Peter organized the letters back in the original order. He’d asked Pepper for help, giving her what information he had on his childhood friend in hopes of tracking her down. Pepper had come through with plenty of information. (Y/N) actually lived in New York. She worked from home in IT. She was single. She had survived the blip. He was just down the street from her apartment, nerves taking over as he looked in the direction of her home. He took a deep breath, and continued down the street. Peter chewed on his lip as he knocked on her door. A faint ‘Just a minute!’ could be heard from the otherside, and at that moment, it took everything in him not to run away.
The door opened. “Hi, can I help you?” She spoke, his blood running cold and his throat felt tight.
“You’re totally not going to believe this, but it’s me, (Y/N).” Peter rushed, causing her to raise her eyebrow. “I’m back. I-I’m Peter. Peter Quill from Missouri.”
“This isn’t funny. I don’t know how you know about my connection to him-” She started, but Peter was quick to cut her off.
“When you were in kindergarten, you got in trouble for having a pocket of worms. I got in trouble with you because I ate one of them in class. Nastiest taste in the world, but it amused you.” He chuckled, running his fingers over the envelopes. “If that didn’t convince you, I remember the huge crush you had on Mark Hamill after we watched Star Wars. I bullied you for ages about it.”
“Peter..” She whispered, hand coming to cover her mouth. Tears welled up in her eyes as she stared at him. “It’s been 35 years, where the fuck have you been?”
Peter stuck the worn pile of envelopes out in front of him. “Funny enough, these probably explain it better than I could. I wrote to you frequently. I’m gonna be completely honest, I wasn't even sure if I was ever coming back. I was convinced I was wasting time, but y’know all the funky shit that happened kinda forced me back.”
(Y/N) took them and flicked through the pile. “I never stopped looking for you. When they said you disappeared, I went looking everywhere we’d gone. I thought you’d just run away, but rumors began that maybe you’d died and I just.. I knew you weren’t dead.” Her eyes met his face and she smiled. “I’ve missed you, dumbass.”
Peter stepped forward, wrapping his arms tightly around her as they stood there in an embrace. “I’m sorry for leaving, and again, you won’t believe this but I’ve got a pretty insane reputation in space.”
The woman pulled away and raised her eyebrow at him. “What? Peter.. You mean outer space right? Like up there?” She asked him, pointing up at the sky. He nodded, a childish grin plastered on his face.
“Ask me about my reputation.”
“I’m afraid to know.” She sighed.
“C’mon.” He cooed, swaying them slightly. “You know you’re curious.”
“What’s your reputation, Peter?”
He looked down at her with his signature smirk. “On Terra, I’m just little old Peter Quill. A boring, apparently presumed dead, nobody. In space, I’m the legendary outlaw turned hero of the galaxy known as Star-Lord, lover to all.” He winked, making (Y/N) roll her eyes.
“Lover to all, huh? How many alien STDs do you have?” She laughed as he groaned. “Do aliens have STDs?”
“I don’t have any that I know of, and I’m assuming they do. I don’t just go around asking aliens if they do or not!” He replied, as his childhood friend doubled over with laughter. “I missed hearing you laugh.”
“I missed you, Peter. It’s nice to have you back, even if it’s temporary.” She huffed, looking up at him. “I don’t know how long you’re staying, if you are, but would you like to have dinner with me? I want a chance to properly catch up with you.”
“Are you asking me on a date?”
“Never in a million years, space boy.” She spoke, stepping aside and motioning him in. “C’mon, I make a mean ass pot of chili and I’m assuming you haven’t had any in ages.”
Peter happily stepped inside, shrugging off his coat and tossing in on the closest chair. He looked around her apartment, the walls covered with photos from her life and movie posters he didn’t recognize. A photo of him and her on Halloween hung beside a framed drawing he’d made for her back before he was abducted.
“Hey, (YN), what the hell is Revenge of the Sith? And why do you have a big ass poster of it?”

*warning extremely angsty request* I apologize in advance. I am a gremlin who thrives on angst.
Could you write something for WandaNat x reader where instead of Nat, it’s reader and Clint on vormir and r sacrifices herself? And when he gets back, Clint has to tell Nat… and then after they defeat Thanos, Nat has to tell Wanda…
Like honestly just break my heart with it 😭
Authors note: Ask and recive friend. Prepare for angst galore, I hurt myself writing this 💔
Word count: 5549 WandaNat Masterlist Marvel Masterlist Alternate Ending
You're awakened the same way you had been for the past five years, by your surviving girlfriends sobs. Hopefully this would be the last night she suffered like this. You quickly sit up and pull her into you, her shaking arms wrap around you to help ground her.
“It’s ok baby. It was just a nightmare, I’m here” you whisper as she tucks her face into your neck
Ever since the snap and witnessing Wanda disintegrate in your arms the Russian was petrified of losing you too. She had nightmares every night of you also disintegrating, leaving her completely alone. Yelena and Wanda were gone, and after losing his family Clint practically was too. You were all she had left, her lover and her rock. Her heart and mind simply couldn’t handle that fear.
She sniffles and you can feel her warm tears against her shoulder, “I have to relive watching our lyubovʹ(love) get dusted only to watch the same happen to you. Over and over again.”
“I know. They always feel so terribly real.”
Her brows furrow as she looks at you, “You have nightmares about it too?” A stupid question she knows, I mean why wouldn’t you. You’d seen the same events she had, you were the one holding Wanda. But in all these years you’d never said anything to her about them so stupidly she assumed that you were spared the heartbreak and fear.
You nod, “I do”
Her brows furrowed further, “Why did you never tell me detka(baby)?”
“Mine aren’t as bad as yours” you shug not wanting to admit to how your survivors guilt usually had your friends and lovers dead bodies blaming you and you were worried that she would agree, “They aren’t as frequent”
“That doesn't mean they don’t matter. You're struggling too, you should have told me so I could help you. Be there for you, like you are for me.”
“I didn’t want to add to your worries or stress.” you explain, “You mourn for Yelena and Wanda, you lead the remaining Avengers, you have nightmares every night, you look for hope everyday. I couldn’t add to that.”
She shakes her head, “I'm your girlfriend, I’m supposed to take care of you. I’m supposed to help you through things. Please don’t hide from me.”
You sigh, “You're right, I should have said something. I’m sorry.”
Her eyes search yours, “It’s ok detka(baby). Just no more secrets ok? Isn’t that what you told me when we first got together.”
You smile at the memory. Sometimes, with everything that's happened it felt like decades ago instead of only eight years. Then your heart sinks, and your expression matches your grief. How had the two of you only had Wanda for a mere three years. It wasn’t fair.
“Y/n?” Nat cautiously calls, obviously sensing the change in the atmosphere
“I miss her” you answer, tears dripping down your face
“I do too. So much.” She releases a shaky sigh, “But thanks to Scott and Tony today things might change”
You nod, “I hope so.”
She snuggles into your hold once more, “We’ll get her back. We just have to”
Hours later the team had assembled and the time had finally come. You were all going to get the stones back, and the ones you’d all lost. Time to reverse the snap. Time to bring everyone back.
Natasha walked beside you, hand in yours as you and all the other heroes approached the large pad in the center of the room. She sent you a loving glance and a smile as Steve went over everyone's roles one last time. She was to accompany Rhodey and Nebula to Morag in 2014, while you and Clint were to go to Vormir in 2014. While you were each excited to see space neither of you could deny the lump of anxiety and worry for the other you each had in your chests.
She gives your hand a squeeze once Steve finishes talking, urging you to turn to her. Her eyes search yours as she cups your face, you give her a smile as you lean into her touch and bring your arms around her waist. Your lips meet hers in a gentle kiss, her forehead rests against yours once she pulls away.
“Be careful detka(baby), please.” she pleads
“I will be, Clints got my back.” you reply, glancing over at him to see him giving you two thumbs up, “We’re getting them back Tasha. We’re getting her back. I promise, whatever it takes.”
She nods before pulling you in for another kiss. This one fueled with more emotion than the last, “Whatever it takes. I love you so much”
“I love you too baby.” You reply, hearing the machine begin to power up, “I’ll see you in a minute”
The trek up the mountain was harder than you and Clint had anticipated, but finally you had reached the top. You had expected to be alone, however that was not the case.
“Welcome” You both turn, weapons drawn to face the creature who spoke, “Y/n, daughter of Edith. Clint, son of Edith” Your brother spares you a glance “You can consider me a guide. To you and to all who seek the soul stone”
“Oh good.” you reply, “Tell us where it is and we’ll be on our way”
You follow as he leads you to the cliffs edge not far from where you previously stood “What you seek lies in front of you. In order to take the stone you must lose that which you love. An everlasting exchange. A soul, for a soul.”
The two of you ponder over his words, both pacing as you stare at the cliff. You understood him. You knew one of you must die to get the stone, afterall Thanos came here with his daughter and left alone. And now it appeared Clint would be doing the same.
You wanted nothing more than to return to Natasha. To hold her in your arms, tell her how everything would be ok and bring Wanda back. But you couldn't do that at the expense of your brother. His wife and children needed him, you couldn’t do that to his family. Natasha and Wanda needed him too, he was their best friend and mentor. You couldn’t do that to so many people.
You stop your pacing, and his by grabbing onto his hand. He quickly turns to you and can read your face like a book, “No. Don’t you dare say it”
“Clint” you sigh, “Thanos left without his daughter. A soul for a soul. It’s the only way”
“You don’t know that! There has to be other options, other ways!” he shouts
You shake your head, “There isn’t”
“Why not?! Because the floating shadow said so!?” he counters, “We don’t even know if we can trust him!”
“Why would he lie?” you question, “He's the keeper of the stone. He has nothing to gain by withholding anything from us”
Your brother's brows furrow as he looks away into the distance of space. He's quiet for a few minutes trying to come to terms with the whole idea.
“If we don’t do this, billions of people stay dead. Laura, Cooper, Lila, Nathaniel and Wanda among them”
Finally he looks back at you with tears in his eyes and nods before pulling you into a bone crushing hug, “Tell Laura I’m sorry. And make sure the kids don’t hear about what I've done.” he asks, “And tell them I love them”
You shake your head, “You’ll tell them yourself”
His answer comes in the form of a gasp as your knee meets his gut, knocking the wind from him. You desperately run for the edge, glimpses of your two beloved redheads flash through your mind as you go, and you can’t help but smile. This was for her, for Wanda.
The sound footsteps bring you out of your thoughts and you tumble across the cold stone with your brother. He manages to pin you down, looking at you like you’d lost your mind.
“Let me do this!” you shout, sitting up on your elbows
He sighs, his gaze softening as he looks at you, “I can’t do that. I can’t. You're the only family I have left and I’ll be damned if I’m about to watch you die.”
Before you can say anything he's pushing you down again before he's sprinting off. You know he’ll jump before you reach him so you ready the grapple Natasha had given you for the mission, she had wanted you to be prepared and have anything you might need.
You sprint after him, aiming the device. He turns before jumping to see you catching up and quickly jumps. His victory is short lived, you collide with him mid air and attach the grapple to him. He barely manages to grab onto your arm.
“Son of a bitch” you mutter, looking up to meet his gaze, “Let me go!”
“No!” he shouts, “What about Natasha!?”
Your eyes shut tightly as you think about your girlfriend. Her warm embrace and kind heart. Her fiery hair with the blonde ends and her deep green eyes. Her soft skin and her plump lips. Her radiant smile and her lovable laugh.
“She needs you Y/n! She's already lost so much, losing you would kill her! You can’t leave her alone!”
You open your eyes again, “She won’t be alone. She’ll have Yelena and Wanda and you back.”
“She needs you!” he counters, “She loves you for godsake! You're just as important to her, don’t you know that!?”
“Of course I know that!” you fire back, “But we all agreed to do whatever it takes and I promised her we would get Wanda back so if this is the only way- ”
“It’s not the only way! Let me do this instead” he begs, reaching his other arm out or you
“I can’t do that. I let Thanos get past me to Wanda and Vision, this is my fault and I’m going to make it right.”
“It's not your fault. Everyone needed to do better, we were all to blame.” he replies, “I've done terrible things since I lost my family, if anyone deserves to die for humanity it’s me.”
You give him a sad smile, “Your children need you Clint. So does Laura. My girls will need you too.” You pause to collect yourself. A few tears escape down your face as the realization of you never getting to see your beautiful Wanda again sinks in, “Promise me you’ll take care of them. Promise me you’ll tell them I love them.”
He shakes his head his other hand mere centimeters away from yours, “Please don’t do this”
“I have to. I love you big brother. Tell my girls they meant the world to me” you push off the cliff with all your strength, smiling to yourself as your arm frees itself from his grasp. Your brother's shouts are drowned out by your memories, Wanda and Natasha voices coming through clear as day before you hit the rocks with a sickening thud.
When Clint awakes in a pool of water he frantically looks around for you, his baby sister. He's hoping and praying it was all a dream or hallucination. That the image of your body lying so many feet below in a pool of red was some cosmic joke. But deep down he knows it isn’t. He knows you're really gone. The weight in his hand confirms this when he opens his grasp to see the soul stone. He angrily shouts as he punches the water. Tears roll down his cheeks. Truthfully he doesn't know how he's meant to face Natasha now, without you. But he returns to his timeline nonetheless.
The heroes look around at each other sharing large smiles at their success, until Nats eyes fall on her best friend. He's soaked to the bone, a look of despair on his face and now she sees that you're not beside him.
“Clint, where's Y/n?” she asks, barely above a whisper. Deep down she knows the answer, but her heart can’t bare to accept it
His tear filled eyes meet her concerned ones, “I’m sorry Nat” he chokes out
She shakes her head as her feet carry her to him, “Where's Y/n!? Where is she!?”
“She's gone, Nat. She sacrificed herself for the stone.”
Natashas world stops for a moment as her brain attempts to process his words. To help her realize the truth Clint brings his hand to eye level and opens it to reveal the stone.
“A sacrifice was needed for it. She wouldn’t let me- ” His explanation is cut off by a scream. A primal one full of loss and sorrow.
“No!! No!!” she shouts before shoving Clint, “You were supposed to keep her safe! You were supposed to bring her back to me!!”
Steve quickly walks closer, ready to intervene is necessary. But Clints gaze keeps him at bay for now. “I tried Natasha. I tried so hard but she…she was determined to do whatever it took to keep her promise of bringing Wanda back”
“No. I didn’t mean….” she says as she furiously shakes her head. Clint attempts to hug her, to show her it wasn’t her fault that you had taken those words to heart and that you knew she wouldn’t trade you for Wanda. Your survivor's guilt had simply been too much to bear, but she resists his embrace and pounds her fists against his chest.
“I trusted you!!” she screams at him, “You took my heart with you and you returned without it!!” Her tears blurr her vision as sobs shake her and in her grief she doesn't realize she's implying she wishes her best friend had died instead of you.
Her knees give out and Steve manages to catch her before she hits the ground, “My Y/n, my detka(baby), please! She can’t be gone! She can’t leave me!!”
“I’m so sorry Natasha” the soldier replies holding her as she sobs
Clint's guilty face comes into her view once more, “I'm so sorry. If I only could switch places with her I would. She…She said she loves you. You were her world. Wanda too”
A cry rips through her so hard that even Steve shakes, “I didn’t mean for her to trade herself for anyone! This isn’t what I wanted!!”
“It’s not your fault.” Steve tries to reassure her, looking to the archer for help
Clint nods, “She knew that's not what you meant, believe me I made sure of it. But she blamed herself for not stopping Thanos, for letting him reach Wanda and Vision. To her, this was how she could fix things.”
“Who’s going to fix me?!” the Russian shouts back, angry at you for leaving her. She fully collapses in Steve's embrace and Tony finally makes his way over. He lets his hand run through her hair in a comforting manner he has seen you do hundreds of times.
He doesn't want to ask this next question but he knows he has to, “Where is she- her body?”
Natashas body freezes. In her panic she hadn’t even thought to ask that. Why wasn’t your body at least brought back to her? Why did he leave you there
Clint shakes his head, “Gone. Like she was never there”
Natashas heart clenches. You were her everything these past five years and her loving girlfriend of eight years, but now just like Wanda, she had nothing of you. Her nightmares became a reality, and she would trade anything to be back in bed with you.
“I want my Y/n, please I want her back. Someone bring her back!” she pleads to the universe rather than the people that surround her. No one knows what to say, or if there is anything that could comfort her.
Thor breaks the short lived silence, “Why are we putting Natasha through this?” he questions, making everyone look at him, “We have the stones, we have all of them. So why can’t we use them to bring Y/n back?”
Clint shakes his head, “That's not how it works. The deal was a soul for a soul.”
“When I said whatever it takes I didn’t mean this.” Steve says feeling guilty, “We don’t trade lives, that's not what we do”
“Not even one for billions?” Tony questions, making the Russian glare at him, “I’m sorry Nat. I’m just being realistic. If losing one brings everyone back then I think the trade was worth it”
“But we don’t even know if this will work. Her sacrifice could be for nothing.” Bruce decided to add in
“Stop! Just stop!” Natasha begs as she pushes herself to stand, "I just lost the other half of my heart, the only half I had left…so don't fucking argue about her death being worth something!! Don't you dare!"
The room goes silent as Bruce, Tony and Steve refuse to meet her gaze. Clint still holds the stone in his hand, afraid to let go of something that tethered your presence to this world.
"I have nothing now. No little sister and no girlfriends, so if this doesn't work….you can consider me one of the casualties." She chokes out before quickly leaving the room
As soon as she's gone Clint's legs give out. He hits the ground with a sob as he continues to clutch the stone. The memories of the event play over and over in his mind….how could he have let you slip through his fingers. Steve crouches next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder so he knows he's not alone.
"It wasn't your fault either"
"Like hell it wasn't!" He shouts through tears, "She was my little sister! I was supposed to keep her safe! But instead I watched her die!"
The Captain sighs, "It was an impossible choice. One that shouldn't have had to be made….I'm so sorry"
Somehow, despite being blinded by tears, Natasha had made it back to your shared bedroom. She hesitates at the door, not quite ready to let your absence sink in. It had been so hard for you and her to come back to this room after Wanda died, how was she supposed to face that grief a second time? How was she supposed to face it all alone?
Finally she forces her shaking hand to open the door and she rushes inside to collapse on the bed. She cries as she takes in how empty the king sized mattress now feels without anyone to hold her. She grabs at your pillow, pulling it in against her chest. The smell of you surrounds her then, like it would if she had been curled into your chest. And for a brief second it's almost like you're there with her like you were this morning, talking about Wanda. She had a chance at coming back, even if it was a long shot the chance was there. You didn’t have that however. You were gone. Grief hits full force then and she screams into the pillow.
You were never going to hold her again. Never going to calm her after a nightmare and sing her back to sleep. She would never hear you laugh, hold your hand or feel your lips ever again. Never again would she see you looking at her with a tender gaze, nor would she hear you tell her how much you loved her. And if Wanda came back, you wouldn't be there to greet her. What was she supposed to tell her?
She screams into her pillow, struggling to breathe as her chest heaves due to her hyperventilating. Her hold on your pillow tightens, the fabric of the pillowcase threatening to rip under her intense grip. She more than likely would have continued to spiral like this, had her phone not began to ring, American Pie filling the silent room.
“Natasha” the familiar voice calls out, “Sestra(sister), are you there?”
“Yelena?” she asks, a mix between a sob and a whisper
“What's wrong, what's happened?” she asks, hearing the brokenness in her tone
Tears fill the redhead's eyes as she realizes what this means. If Yelena was back that meant everyone else had come back as well. That meant your sacrifice had achieved something. That meant…Wanda.
“I uh, it's too much to explain over the phione. Can you meet me at the compound as soon as possible?”
“Of course. I’ll pack my bags and fly out at once.” she replies
Suddenly Natasha can feel the ground beneath her begin to shake and an explosion sounds, “Actually, make the flight for tomorrow. I gotta go deal with some things”
“Yeah, ok. Go kick ass, I’ll be there.”
“YA tebya lyublyu(I love you)” she rushes to say, not wanting to go another second without her little sister knowing that
Yelena pauses for a moment, not used to having her older sister be so open with such things, “YA tozhe tebya lyublyu(I love you too)”
As soon as the phone hangs up Natasha is bolting out of her room and through the compound. Not only to find the others to tell them what they did worked, but to also figure out what was causing everything to shake.
She doesn't need to wait long to receive her answer, as she looks out the large windows she sees an all too familiar ship in the distance. And there, approaching the compound in his armor and holding his blade is her worst nightmare.
“No, that's not possible. He can’t be here. He died.” she mutters to herself as fear fills her. She can’t lose Yelena and Wanda again. Not after just getting them back, losing you in the process.
“Natasha!” Steve yells, gaining her attention and she knows she's needed for battle. He can’t win again.
Dust and rubble settle around her as she looks around the battlefield, and if she's being honest things don’t look good. Tears build in her eyes as fear of losing a second time washes over her. She lost you, and it might not even have been worth it.
Steve stands, tightening his broken shield on his injured arm with a grunt. She quickly joins him, standing by his side as she reloads her guns. She's ready to die by his side if it manages to stop him and let Wanda and Yelena live, besides that wouldn't be terrible would it? Because at least then she could be with you once more.
They're about to charge The Mad Titan, but a small crackle in their comms makes them freeze. They stop moving and remain unearthly quiet as they focus on the sounds, trying to decipher if what they just heard was true.
“On your left” Sams voice tells them
They both watch in awe as multiple portals open behind them. Warriors of Wakanda, the Asgardians, sorcerers, and all of their teammates that had once been lost now pour through them. They both smile as a few tears fall from the Russians eyes, then their attention falls back on their enemy.
“Avengers!” Steve shouts out
“Assemble!” Natasha finishes
The battle commences and Natashas sole focus is on keeping the enemy from gaining any ground and grabbing the stones until a wave of red magic catches her attention in the distance.
She runs towards the area, heart in her throat as she prepares to see her girlfriend for the first time in five years. Any alien that gets in her way meets a quick demise, she won’t let anyone get between them. And when she finally finds her, seeing her there in her red jacket, her heart almost stops.
“W-wanda” she whispers, almost afraid to say her name out loud
The other redhead feels a familiar presence and spins around, “Tasha!”
The Russian stumbles, nearly falling to her knees as she runs into the arms of the other woman, “You're back. You're really here.”
“I’m here malysh(baby), I’m home.. Wong told us how long we’ve been gone….I’m so sorry. I can’t imagine what you and Y/n have been through.” Wanda takes a moment to look around for you, thinking you’d be right behind Natasha to greet her, “Where's Y/n?”
She shakes her head, tears cascading down her cheeks as she lets out a sob, “She….she's gone Wans”
Natasha looks at her, thinking loudly about what happened letting her see everything. Wanda sees the conversation Nat shared with you that morning in bed, she sees the speech Steve gives and then the conversation Nat shares with you before the time heist. And then she sees Natasha witness Clints return. She sees, hears and feels how Natasha handles the news that your broken brother relays to her. She hears how the other heroes comment on your sacrifice. She can’t bear to see more.
“No!” she shouts, clutching at the strong arms that hold her as tears stream down her face, “Not our lyubov'(love)! Not Y/n, please!”
Natasha holds her closer, letting Wanda fall apart in her embrace for a brief moment. Until the sound of the battle around them brings them back to reality. She hears the purple man bark some orders and her expression hardens. She pulls back from Natasha, scanning the surrounding area for the monster responsible for all of the pain and suffering Natasha and you had gone through over five years. The monster responsible for taking you from them. She's going to make him pay.
Her eyes begin to glow red, swirls of her magic building around her arms and legs as a growl takes over her features. Before Natasha can say anything the witch is gone, flying in the direction of the so-called conqueror. The Russian quickly runs in that direction. She knows she probably isn't much help in a fight against someone like him but there was no way she was going to let Wanda fight him alone. She couldn’t risk losing her again.
Wanda lands in front of him, dust and a mist of her magic forming a cloud around her. She eyes him angrily, full of hate and rage. He eyes her curiously, not seeing her for the threat she is. Natasha manages to catch up in time to see red energy swirling in her girlfriend's hands as Thanos smirks at her.
“You took her from me. From us.” she venomously tells him, her accent heavy in her anger
He scoffs, “I don’t even know who you are.”
“You will.”
He charges her, wildly swinging his blade at her, but she uses her magic to block every hit. He takes a few steps back, bringing his blade up and over his head before swinging it down towards her. She stops it with her magic, holding it there as he struggles to gain control of his weapon. Before he can even blink she's snapping his blade in half and sending him flying backwards. He quickly stands only to be engulfed by red tendrils of magic that hoist him into the air.
Natasha watches in awe of her girlfriends sheer power as she begins to crush the armor Thanos currently wears. Sounds of it crunching and him grunting in discomfort are all the two women currently hear, the rest of the battle is simply background noise as they relish in his suffering. The Sokovian shouts as she lets her powers ramp up and to his horror his own armor begins to squeeze the life from him. He can feel how it tightens around his chest and neck and fear overcomes his features as he realizes how strong she truly is. He opens his mouth, ready to call his troops to action, but he doesn’t get the chance to do so. In one swift movement of her hands, his armor folds in and crushes his ribcage with a sickening crunch. When she's sure all life has left him she lets her powers fade and his body hits the ground with a thud.
The battle around them slows as the children of Thanos attempt to regain their berings after witnessing what they thought to be impossible. The Mad Titan lies dead, defeated by mere humans. Humans who still have the six Infinity Stones.
“Get the stones! We make them pay for this!” the woman shouts
The heroes frantically look around to see which of them has the gauntlet only to find it in the possession of their resident genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist. His gaze lands on Natasha and her eyes widen as she recognizes the look of sheer determination on his face. She watches in horror as he begins to remove the stones.
“Tony! Don’t!” she shouts, making everyone else's attention go to the man as well
He smiles at her, “One for billions Romanoff. It’s worth it.”
“Tony!” Steve shouts as he rushes towards his friend. But it's too late. The stones attach themselves to his armor, forming a new gauntlet and as he looks at the faces of his friends that surround him, he snaps.
The army around them turns to dust as Tony collapses onto the ground. Pepper, Rhodey and Peter are the first to surround him, but they're quickly joined by Steve, Natasha and Wanda.Everyone manages to get their goodbyes in to the beloved men before he passes and the rest of the heroes honor his sacrifice by kneeling in silence.
Nearly two weeks after Tony's funeral, three women find themselves in a cemetery in Ohio. They gather under a tree with pink blossoms, around a newer headstone. It reads: Y/n Barton. Sister, girlfriend, Avenger.
At its base rests a small plush hawk with a picture of you and Clint, a bouquet of flowers beside it indicates he was here recently to see you. He likely hadn’t wanted to stay long, not wanting to risk facing Natasha and the guilt about his failure to save you, or risking Wanda seeing his thoughts which have been of your death on replay.
Yelena lights a small candle for you before brushing a few stray leaves off the picture of you and your two girlfriends. When she's satisfied she places her hand on the stone before standing and walking over to where her dog Fanny waits by her truck. She knows the other two women will need a moment.
Natasha moves off to the side and rests her forehead against your cold stone. Tears fall down her face as she lets her fingers trace the carving of your name. All she can think of is your face. How you had smiled at her that day, for the last time. How you had kissed her so softly yet fiercely. How your hand felt in hers before you said your goodbyes.
Wanda sniffles as she places a small plush bear next to the photo of the three of you. Its fur was the same color as your hair and it was holding a heart that was your favorite color. She knew you had to have it….you would have loved it.
“Why?” Natasha croaks out, “Why did it have to be you, detka(baby)?”
“You should be here with us. We miss you so much lyubov'(love)." Wanda adds as tears roll down her cheeks
Fanny watches over the two women, whining when she knows they’re upset and Yelena looks down at her dog, “I know. I don’t like seeing them so sad either. But without Y/n, I don’t think they'll ever be the same.” The dog looks at her, tilting her head as if asking a question, “You would have liked her.”
A few minutes go by and the two redheads know it's time they go. They like visiting you, well, your headstone. But they know it isn’t healthy for them to stay too long here, dwelling in their sadness.
“I love you” Natasha mumbles, her forehead still against the stone, “I love you so much. I don’t know if I told you that enough these past five years, but I really hope you knew. I’m so sorry I didn’t realize you were suffering with so much guilt. I should have taken better care of you, should have been there for you. I’m so sorry”
Wanda brings her forehead to the stone then too, “She knew Tasha, and this wasn’t your fault. You were both suffering and you both did the best you could”
“Well my best wasn’t enough was it! She left us!” she shouts, overwhelmed with guilt of her own, “She left us Wans.”
“Oh Natty, this wasn’t your fault my love” Wanda says, quickly wrapping her up in a tight embrace, “This wasn’t your fault”
“Why did she leave us Wan?” the Russian asks, sounding more broken than ever
“She…she wanted to bring me back, and she thought that was the only way to do it.”
Natasha shakes her head, “There had to be another way. Because having one of you without the other, it's not right. It's not how it's supposed to be.”
“I know, baby. I know.” Wanda agrees, running a hand through her girlfriends hair
“This isn’t how it’s supposed to be.”

I feel something I wondered about for a while was the transition of Gamora from vol. 1 / being more stern (even at the end of the movie when she's slightly dancing it's like such a small thing that feels huge for her character) to being so much softer and open by vol. 2. Like there was such a huge gap there, which definitely was great for for fanfiction.
But I actually feel like vol. 3 kind of let's us in on the vibe of how it went for her? Like 2014!Gamora in vol. 3 has had some time to process the Thanos stuff a bit, but she's still struggling when it comes to trusting others and being friendly in general. But in her little moments by herself we see her processing what family could mean and how she likes that Peter holds on to the childhood he lost (because she probably would have done the same if she had a choice). She's softened up just from all that by the end, with her saying "I bet we were fun." Like she can see how she got to that place with Peter and the family.
As much as it sucks that it was 2014!Gamora and not 2018!Gamora, it was actually super interesting to see this version of her interact with the guardians and it gave some interesting insight into her personality.

random rant. why was i thinking about this I do not know
i have a lot of thoughts about infinity war and endgame. there were some great moments (i love a good community experience and the lady in the theatre sharing her tissues with me when cap hears “on your left” will forever be a moment engraved on my heart - bless you strange lady wherever you are and may your life be full of good food good health good company && cherry blossoms)
but in general neither of them were great (not me writing an essay about how they clearly created the endgame script with the ability write captain marvel out if her movie didn’t do well, or about how the “girl power” scene was meaningless && performative, or about how they killed off nat who had been holding the planet together for five years to save clint barton the serial killer and then like?? didn’t have a funeral for her???)
but for the purposes of this post i will stick to how DIRTY they did the guardians of the galaxy
honestly rocket’s fat jokes. comics-canon rocket is attracted to all sorts of bodies and movie-canon rocket is honestly too aware of his own body image issues to risk bringing attention to anyone else’s tbh
nebula and rocket stayed on earth for five years during the snap? HOW is that canon??? i just absolutely fuckin refuse to believe it and i have wiped it from my mind. it makes NO sense. maybe they would’ve stayed until thanos got his head lopped off but after?? nah. they’re going back to space. maybe touching base with krags, the other ravagers like stakar, etc etc etc. i hereby uncanonize this event it’s fuckin stupid
even if we give allowances to the endgame writers and remind ourselves that they didn’t know about floor & teefs & lylla - i just can’t see interactions between rocket and thor in infinity war playing out the way they did. rocket had lost everyone in the snap (nebula being really only an ally at the time of infinity war) and he liked thor in endgame. (don’t get me started on the treatment of depression and grief in these fuckin movies)
nat’s treatment of rocket makes me wanna scream. why does serial killer clint look like the respectful one when they’re talking about her alleged coworker of five years?? who has apparently been working on protecting this planet he doesn’t think he has any ties to??
2014 nebula replaced 2022/2023 nebula and neither tony nor *rocket*, sole companion for five years (while isolated on terra apparently????) NOTICED??? it makes me so fuckin mad i could scream (don’t worry i fuckin fixed it)
gimme some time and im sure ill think up more

I enjoy it. Causing them pain. Watching them being like... bugs under my feet. And I can't stop, can't finish them off because the pain... is much better than death, isn't it? One of them... is so brave. Doesn't wish to die. What a joy, I can torture him indefinitely.
Not my son, beast.
How post-The Dark World should have ended aka Go, Alldaddy! Smash that evil plum and his sick brain! For Asgard! For your little boy LOKI! 🎶Go go Power Daddy🎶

Hey! Can I request an 2014!gamora imagine with the prompts Instinctively grabbing your/their hand and forgetting to let go and “I’ve tried to stop missing you.” (Or prompts 2 and 23)
She’s Back: Gamora x Reader
Summary: Before Gamora joined the Guardians, she was in a relationship with you. Now that the version of her that you knew is back, you struggle with your feelings.
Words: 0.6k+
Author’s Notes: Sorry it’s taken so long for me to write this one, anon! I was struggling to come up with a good plot that wasn’t just copying how Peter was missing Gamora but I think I finally figured out something interesting!

You were surprised to hear anything about Gamora after so long.
Honestly, you didn’t even know if she was alive until Nebula contacted you. She left on a mission for her father all those years ago, and without a second thought for you she moved on to a new life with the Guardians of the Galaxy. You’ve heard bits of news here and there about these Guardians over the years, and then most of them were snapped away. You had no idea if Gamora had survived this war for the infinity stones—until now.
Nebula contacted you recently to tell you that Gamora did in fact die by the hand of Thanos five years ago, but an alternate version of her from the time you knew her somehow survived due to some time-travel nonsense you didn’t really understand. This Gamora has been asking about you apparently, likely because this one never left you and never met the Guardians, and most importantly never fell in love with somebody else.
You honestly aren’t sure how to react to this news, or even how someone is supposed to react to something like this. After all, you’ve been spending over five years mourning and moving on from that relationship. Should you take her back just because in her mind you never broke up? Should you ignore Nebula’s message and just pretend you have no idea your former lover is still out there?
You try the latter first for a while, but you can’t get her out of your head. Your dreams are haunted by her beautiful face and the memories you shared so long ago, questions of what could’ve been and what could be now that she’s back.
One of these nights you can’t take it anymore, so you send Nebula a message that you want to see Gamora for yourself. She sends you the coordinates to where the Guardians’ ship is intercepting with the Ravager ship Gamora is on, and you go on your way, anxiety-ridden the entire ride.
It’s probably not the best time to do this, as one of the Guardians is on his deathbed and Gamora is only temporarily joining them for a mission to save him, but if you don’t go now, you’re worried you won’t have another chance.
You sneak onto the ship, standing back while the Guardians are freaking out about the Ravagers boarding. Did Nebula not tell them they were coming?
You watch Nebula pull the captain aside and explain to him why Gamora’s here, and mentions that you’ll be coming too—a fact he doesn’t seem too happy about. You put together pretty quickly that this must be the guy Gamora fell for after you. Honestly, you don’t have anything against him, and you understand how he feels. He never knew about you, and his version of Gamora died a horrible death. You know exactly what it’s like to have her gone, and it’s going to be severely complicated now that she’s back.
You slowly come out into the hallway, making eye contact with each of the Guardians one by one, and finally locking eyes with Gamora.
Just as perfect as you remember.
She stares at you, mouth parting slightly in disbelief then morphing into a smile.
“Y/N?” she says your name in the exact way you’ve been wanting to hear it for so long. “You look different,”
“You look the same,” you reply with a laugh.
She takes a step towards you, instinctively grabbing your hands, “I don’t really understand all this, but I’m not the person all these people knew, okay? For me, being with you wasn’t that long ago. How long has it been for you?”
You look up, trying to blink away the tears welling in your eyes.
“Almost ten years,” your voice cracks. “I’ve tried to stop missing you,”
“Well, I’m glad you didn’t,” she smirks. “Because somehow I’m here now. And I’ll never leave you like my other self did, okay?”
You nod, falling into her arms and not letting go.

Another Author's Note: If ya'll enjoy this, I'd consider writing a second part that includes the other Guardian's reactions to the reader, maybe some angst between them and Peter because they're both in love with Gamora or something.
Read this to make a Guardians request!
