Anyone? Really?

Really?!

Why did no one tell me that watching KinnPorsche was like a gateway drug? I never watched a BL series before and now I have subscribed to three streaming services exclusively showing Asian dramas. Not to mention the two dozen or so new accounts I'm following on Instagram!

I've watched KinnPorsche, all of TharnType, I'm caught up on Unforgotten Night, and I just started CutiePie. And my watchlist just keeps getting longer!

A little warning would have been nice, it's all I'm sayin', because I have no chill.

UPDATE! Cutie Pie was better than I thought it would be. Don’t Say No was a hot mess....that I watched in one day. And the angst in Love Mechanics is killing me. Like I said...NO CHILL!

UPDATE UPDATE! Bad Buddy was so good. Not enough kissing...but that says more about me than the show 😁. Old Fashioned Cupcake was so sweet and realistic. Loved it.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! On my God...Love Mechanics. Oh my GOD! Loved it on so many different levels. YinWar...such a great couple. I love them both...equally...and completely. And JimmySea in Vice Versa are gonna break my heart, I just know it. Sea Tawinan is A-Dor-Able!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! Watched Why R U and phew...ZeeSaint. I need a drink after that. Jumped right into Love by Chance season 1, because Saint is adorable, and some parts were pretty cringy, but I am in LOVE with Perth. I want to watch everything he's done. I am also full-on obsessed with Love in the Air! I get upset when the episode is over. Hopefully this feeling lasts.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! I had to stop and restart Love by Chance 2. I hated that they essentially retconned TinCan and started over. I thought they left it a great place at the end of Season 1. Probably didn’t have enough material to start from there for the second season and tried to stretch it out. Oh well, I really only watched it for Perth anyway. Love him so much! Tum and Tar’s relationship still makes me feel icky. They did it better in TharnType a little, but here it was worse. I’m just gonna float in AePete for a little while before I find another ship to ruin me. Hoping for a third season, I need Ae and Pete back together on screen.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! Well, I was introduced to OffGun with Not Me. The story was really good, I watched almost the whole thing just today, and I liked the development of the relationships. I only have one gripe to make. The only full-on declaration of love (i.e I love you) came from a couple that had like four scenes and never fully were together on screen. REALLY?! Don’t get me wrong, there were a lot of pretty words that meant love, but an actual “I Love You” came from a guy with a crush.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! Ok, this week I watched Theory of Love with OffGun. I loved it! I love really angsty stories anyway and this checked all the boxes. Story was well done, none of the characters were super annoying; all round good one. Unforgotten Night....ugh! I just can’t. After the tenth time Kamol called Kim his lover, I was tapped out. The story was mess and acting was not good. I love trashy as much as the next person, but I couldn't do it. I will say that KhomBaiboon was adorable and I was hoping for more of them. It seemed like everyone was just uncomfortable in their roles. And I am the only one who is loving ViceVersa? It’s a slow burn, but I love everything about it. Plus it brought Perth back! My heart flipped when he came on screen. I ADORE HIM! And Love in the Air is NOT disappointing. It kills me to wait a week for an episode. Boss and Noeul are killing it and I have a feeling that Peat and Fort are going to as well. I can’t wait until they are all interacting!!! And I may have watched "the scene" a few times by now. I can't help myself.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! I wasn’t going to update until the weekend, but I just watched all of Semantic Error and y’all! To all the people that recommended this one...THANK YOU!!!! It was so so so good! I loved it from start to finish! I need more of them! I was talking to the TV it was that good. I think I haven’t done that since first season of Ted Lasso. It gave me the same feelings of Lasso, like a warm hug! I’m going to bed now with a light heart.

WEEKLY UPDATE!!! This week I watched Star in My Mind and Star in Your Heart. I had been seeing clips KluenDao popping up my YouTube suggestions and I looked right up my alley. I have always been a sucker for mutual pining and jealous bouts. Not to mention the main protagonist being lusted after by at least four different people at one point. What? It’s a guilty pleasure. JoongDunk were good and they have great chemistry. Some of the dialogue was little cringy, but I am poor barometer for that. I think The Notebook is terrible, mainly because of the dialogue. And honestly the only reason I watched the sequel was to see how it ended. It was a little boring, sorry. Also, I knew the twist in Vice Versa was gonna happen. I knew they were gonna be separated, but that does not mean I was not heartbroken when it happened.

UPDATE! It has been a while since I last updated, so here we go. Vice Versa ended and I loved it. It was completely different and beautiful to watch. I agree with a lot of others, I wanted some of Tess and Tun living in other world, but JimmySea were so lovely. And I can not wait to see what else Sea does.

I watched SOTUS and SOTUS S as recommended by a commenter. I really liked it and SingtoKrist were a great couple, I have crushes on both now in varying degrees. Not a fan of bullies so it was hard to sit through the first few episodes. The push and pull between Kongpob and Arthit was a great enemies to lovers. I mostly watched the second season because there was angst coming and I am an angst whore. It was bit boring, but they were good.

Love in the Air ended and I loved the whole thing. FortPeat were amazing in their half of the season. Sky’s love letter was realistic and not over the top lovey, which is a huge pet peeve for me. Peat played his PTSD so well. It was played really well into the story and was believable. I may have also bought the presale on the special episode and preordered the box set. Never done either before, hopefully everything works out. 😬

I am LOVING Between Us and WinTeam/BounPrem are amazing. I had seen them on in passing for awhile but I hadn’t really watched them, but DAMN! I also watched Until We Meet Again to see the other half of Between Us and I have some feelings. It was a great story, angsty and bittersweet and uplifting...but Dean is a dick! I know it is an unpopular opinion, but I can’t help it. Ohm is great actor and very beautiful, but....he was always pushing Pharm to do things when he wasn’t ready for, whether it be meeting In’s sister or learning about their shared past. I don’t know. He was really selfish in my opinion. Also what was up with Sin’s wig? How can they make someone as gorgeous as Ja creepy looking with that wig. And poor Fluke! That poor kid probably used buckets of Visine and the reason he was so small was because he was very dehydrated. Also their family trees were really hard to keep track of. I’m still not sure who is and isn’t related to who. The world is not that small. How did I not know that all of my favorite BL actors were in one show? But it was a fun surprise each time another favorite popped up.

UPDATE!! Not sure if anyone still reading this to this point, but I’m gonna keep adding to it. I watched Cherry Blossoms After Winter and I liked it. It was a little on light on the intimacy, but it was sweet. I just really wanted more kisses, I can’t help it. I really liked Taesung and Haebom’s relationship. Sucker for protective boyfriends. It did feel a little rushed at the end, but worth the watch.

Finally watched We Best Love 1 & 2 after seeing people raving about it. It checked all my boxes; hidden/secret crush, bickering, really sweet relationship, little bit of jealousy, break up then make up, and great kisses. Definitely worth the time. The secondary couples were kind of glossed over, but SamYu make up for it. Loved it. EDIT! A quick addition to my We Best Love watch. If you can watch the Special Edition version, DO IT! Shots linger a little longer, some scenes are longer, and some things are explained a little better. If you thought Sam broke your heart before, ohhh just wait.

UPDATE! Been a few weeks, so here we go. I've ventured into non-BL dramas for a little bit. I finished Vincenzo on Netflix and OH MY GOD!! It was amazing. Highly recommend! I also watched True Beauty on Viki. Super cute and angsty! And everyone was right, both men were swoonworthy. I even read through the entire webtoon to see how it would have ended if there was a second season.

Ok, back to BL. I watched My Tooth Your Love and it was adorable. The couple, Andy and Yujin, were so good together. Fully enjoyed, but I could not stop seeing Sam Lin whenever I looked at Yujin. I just couldn't help it and I'm ok with it.

Between Us came to an end and well....it was a bit underwhelming, but not why you'd think. The story didn't really fall into the normal tropes in BL, in my opinion. It was a straight up love story. There it a normal drama. People complain when queer stories are not told like "straight" ones and then people are complaining when this one was. You can't please everyone. I was underwhelmed because there were too many couples. There were 5 couples. FIVE! And with only 12 episodes, there was not enough time. As cute of couple as BeePrince were, it just didn't seem to fit. They could have been cut out and their time could have been given to the others. At least with DeanPharm and PruekManow they had time UWMA, but WanTul didn't get enough time. You have to grumpy and sassy would have been so fun to watch.

I watched Lovely Writer and man! I was so much. It was too much. I understand that it was supposed to be a commentary on the BL industry, much like War of Y was last year, but they crammed too many tropes into one show, into one storyline. You name the trope it was in there. Grumpy/sunshine, fan culture, lying/deception, hidden agenda, childhood friends, only one bed, hidden relationship, love triangle, soul mates, closeted parent etc. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but it was so much. I kept waiting for another one to pop up. I will say one thing, KaoUp have got kissing down! Damn! I was impressed!

UPDATE!!! Ok, its been a while since I've posted and I have not stopped watching. Bed Friends was not what I was expecting. I thought it was gonna be sexy, which it was, and fluffy, which it was. What I was not expecting was the trauma that they wrote into it. Uffda! I loved the chemistry between Net and James, they really are adorable. I wasn't big fan of Yim's character, his voice grated a bit, but I love Tutor and him together, so I'm excited to see their show next.

I watched Roommates of Poongduck 304 and fell in love with Ji Woong and Seo Bin. Their chemistry was really sweet and Ji Woong was so good. The angst was just the right amount and I wish they had left in the finale kiss as is, but what can you do.

I watched a few Japan BL's; Jack O' Frost, The End of the World With You, and Beautiful Man 1 and 2. No lightness is these, aside from a few comedic moments. These are your more grown-up BL's. I do like that episodes were short so I can watch them in one day. The relationships were a bit more uneven, not toxic per se, but one was definitely subservient to the other. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed them, but.....

The Korean's BL's this year are gonna get their own post because reasons!

1. 2gether/ still 2gether

You probably got into BL during the peak of the pandemic. You also probably found out about Thai BLs via TikTok. You are basic. ( sorry not sorry ) You are a sucker for romcom.

2. Tharntype the series

There are two group to this fandom. You are either the kind&understanding one or the toxic one(you know what I mean ). There is no in between. I love tharntype and I love mewgulf but stop thinking they are together when they clearly have said their single/in a relationship ( NOT WITH EACH OTHER ) omg anymore and I will scream.

3. Kinnporsche the series

You either just got into BLs or you have been watching BLs for a long time. You need therapy especially if you are into VegasPete ( but like same ) You have a wild imagination(👀), probably a little too analytical about every small details. If this was your first BL, you need help because I don’t know how your algorithm worked for you to get into such an intense NC (love scene )BL. If this wasn’t your first BL, you were probably culturally shocked but you still need help because this is your favourite BL.

4. Bad buddy the series

You’re a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope. You probably have been single your whole life😀 or you have a crush on your best friend. There is no in between.

5 Sotus/Sotus 2

You’re old. ( sorry ) waiting for singto to direct a show with Krist as the main lead 😔✊

It’s okay to ship people together but there needs to be a boundary. Especially when Thai entertainment industry ( BL, I don’t know about BG) where they promote in such a way that make them seem as if they are a couple irl. Don’t always expect them to end up together, hey I’m not complaining if they do end up together. But if one of them decides to settle down with someone else then as fans, we should support them and not keep insisting on shipping them together. Especially when the one side of the ship has said time and time again to that it’s not the other half of the ship. First, when you ( not you but uk you ) insist on doing so. You are making things awkward between them ( the ship ) and potentially drawing them apart which is ironically what you don’t want to happen. Second, you are just making a bad impression on yourself. Third and final reason, it’s not your business who they ( the actors ) end up/ decide to settle down with in the first place. Also I’m posting this when I’m on the verge of falling asleep and out of impulse so I might end up regretting the decision to post this when I wake up lol.

Rating BL's I've Watched Based on a Completely BS Criteria

Disclaimer, this is just for fun and a look back for me in my journey through BL! I am thankful and grateful to the hardwork that went into all the series I've watched. Please don't take the ratings or my thoughts seriously.

Also spoilers obviously

Long read ahead let's dive in woohoo!

Love Sick

This was my first BL and I do not remember anything about it other than Min (I forgot his character's name) and Om (I forgot the actor's name) because I literally only watched it for Min. All I know was how slow and unresolved everything was like I do not even remember if the main couple ended up together and I definitely know that Min and Om did not clear anything up shshshhs. I do remember Ssing and Oat's character had a storyline and I don't think that got resolved either. Remember Ssing, he will make an appearance in this post later.

Rating: 3/10 (respect for it bringing me into the BL world)

Make It Right

I remember even less about this one, other than Oat was in it lmao and he was a tiny character.

Rating: 1/10 (this is a rating for my memory rather than the series)

2gether

After Love Sick and Make It Right, I dipped for a few years before coming back because I saw a video on IG of that infamous 'keep looking at me like that, and i'll kiss you until you drop' and instantly I was like I gotta watch this. And not for a second did I regret it. It was amazing holy crap, I am such a sucker for easy ass romantic plotlines. Also the scene where Sarawat was telling his friends how he found the man he liked and he kept saying 'he's the one I like' and his entire emotions and behaviour is that scene was so urghghghghghhg, i can't explain it but if someone ever talked about me like that, i would husband them up so fast. also i liked the way they showed Tine's insecurities, I don't think shows often deal with male insecurity so it was incredibly interesting to see. ALSO TYPE KEPT GIVING ME THE BIGGEST FREAKING JUMPSCARES ALL THE TIME. When he showed up at the apartment and Sarawat opened the door, the way I screamed. I love him, he is my favourite character in the show lmao. Big up to the Chic Gang as well, I am glad I am not the only law student with no brain cells lmfao

Rating: 10/10 (probably shared No.1 position for my fave BL right now)

Tonhon Chonlatee

I watched this for Khaotung but the main couple was honestly very yikes lmao. Also they did my girl Miriam so dirty by the end. I'm so happy Na got a bf by the end, it's what he deserves but also he would have definitely made a better match with Chon. Also coming from 2gether where Gunsmile was adorable, to Tonhon where he was a disgusting man was too much. Pang was amazing, I'm such a sucker for characters who are literally just good fucking friends. AiNi <333

Rating: 4/10

Not Me

Amazing, spectacular, brilliant. I love action much more than I love romance, so I do like how all the romance aspects wasn't at the forefront of the plot. The only thing I didn't like was that BlackGram wasn't a thing. I think it would have been a much more interesting dynamic, especially at the end where it seemed like Black was displaced from his own group by White and he didn't get a happy ending despite everything so having Gram in his corner would have been better. Also because it kind of makes both Eugene and Gram bad people for cheating on their boyfriend/bestfriend. Yok punching Dan was so satisfying holy shit. Also TADAH SSING IS BACK UWU, my 12 year old fangirl phase was coming back in full affect because damn he is still so fine. Also I love a good friendship storyline as well, so yeah the entire thing with Black and Tod, chef's kiss.

Rating: 9.5 (loses points because of GramBlack and because as a law student, I had war flashblacks everytime Gram was arguing with Nuch)

Don't Say No

I love this series. I love Leo's character especially, he is the thing of dreams. Rich, nice and incredibly loyal. I also really like that he is well-tempered and only resorted to violence about twice and both times were out of protective instinct because 1) that guy called his bf a whore and 2) this guy basically forced his bf to sleep with him, so well deserved in my opinion. I feel like a lot of other BL men are just violent for the sake of violence which is a no-no. Fiat's fashion choices are also my favourite, especially that red suit holy shit balls. I LOVE BOTH THEIR FRIEND GROUPS OMFG, BUT ESPECIALLY AMP AND AEK, they are so protective of everyone but also very level-headed so I get why Leo is friends which them. Contrastingly, Fiat's friends are dumbasses <333. I need a whole series about the twins and their shady little selves. I like how they did the sees someone flirting with their mans trope, and how Fiat could definitely see that it was a scheme, finally a man with braincells (I say like I didn't just insult him in the sentence prior), but I also understood how he even though he knew Leo wouldn't ever cheat on him, it still hurt to see your man kiss somone else. Everything about Leon and Fiat's dynamic was superb, I just want them to get locked in a room together and see how long before someone dies lmao. My only qualm is why the series is called Don't Say No, if it is based off their basketball team, they should have kept Super Penguins omfg. Justice for LeonPob when???

Rating: 10/10 (Tied no.1 with 2gether, would be 11/10 if the series was called Super Penguins)

TharnType (spoilers! spoilers!)

This was a lot haha, I'm glad I watched it because the S2 introduced me to DSN but I don't think I'll ever go back or rewatch it. Definitely a lot of issues with how blase they seemed about some of the stuff that was happening. The only thing I really have to say is Lhong omfg, I saw spoilers of everyone on reddit being like he is the most evil character and I was there thinking he just seems like a good, cute friend to Tharn???? I did think he liked Tharn when they told him he was dating Type and he dropped the glass but I didn't think that was alarming. He was actually my fave character in the series until I realised I shouldn't like him according to reddit huehuhe. That baby-face really had me fooled. Otherwise, I don't know what my thoughts are tbh, Type is really handsome though haha. Most of the points go to Techno, he is the moment, he is a star baby. Also I hope Cir and Phugun from S2 get their own series, they are adorable.

Rating: 4/10 S1, 6.5/10 S2 (mainly for LeoFiat and CirPhugun)

Kinnporsche

Still airing but omfg currently obsessed. Mafia and psychopaths??? As someone who is an avid crime show fan, this genre hits. Also the entire cast is so fucking hot. I love toxic, complex relationships and loose morals and murder sprees. The versatility of Free Fall as an OST is amazing, it's both badassery music, romantic music and clown music

Rating: 10/10 (1 million gazillion billion/10 for Free Fall by Slot Machine, deserves a Grammy or whatever the song award is)

My Engineer

Before I started watching I literally only knew about Ram and King (I also didn't know that Ram was Perth lmao, he looks so different with his hair up) so I thought they were the main couple. So when I started watching and I was introduced to Bohn and Duen I was like who tf are these two? But no, this series was actually very fun to watched and I enjoyed it. Frong hitting his head was probably the peak of comedy. Season 2 when?????

Rating: 8/10 (10/10 for Talay's hair, what I would give to run my hands through it)

Cutie Pie (spoilers, spoilers)

No one understands how hard I cried in the first episode wtf. ALSO THE HIAS ARE SO HOT WTF. Hia Yi is so scrumptious. I love them rich, cowardly, emotionally unavailable besties. My favourite scene in the entire series is when Hia Lian called Yi 'My dear' and then Yi immediately shudders and tells him 'you give me the creeps'. They are two hot besties. I also think Nuer/Syn has one of the best kiss scenes I've ever seen in a BL, also Nuer is so goddamn good looking okay I promise I will stop focusing on their looks. The OSTs for this series are the best OSTs in my opinion, when will they release that song Nu Kuea sang in Ep 11. The secretaries need their own series as well. The scene of Hia Lian turning around with tears in his eyes after Nu Kuea rejected his marriage proposal was one of the most devastating scenes that has ever happened, and my ass at 2:30am when the episode premiered could not take it. 'I love that doll the most' is such a hard hitting line, I bawled like a bitch okay T-T

Rating: 9/10 (loses one point because of that cursed dog YiDiao are now the unfortunate owners of, 1000/10 for the Hias)

Secret Crush on You

Okay I saw a lot of people saying how the series gets so good near the end and you just have to deal with the first half of it. And I completely understand all of these people. The beginning is a lot and it's so cringey and horrific lmao. But by the end, the way this series deals with incredibly serious topics is amazing. Some of the characters in here are the biggest green flags to exist. By the time I finished the series, I was definitely thinking that it was so worth it. I highly recommend this series. I want to talk about two of my favourite characters - Inntouch and Som. Som, she is the best of friends. She is amazing, she is so helpful and caring and the fact she knows her friends so well and gets emotional when they are suffering is beautiful. I love her so much. Inntouch is just as amazing as well, the way he is incredibly respectful of Daisy and loves Daisy no matter what they identify as is such a green flag. Also the subtletly of his affection for Daisy is so good, like the way he instantly smiles just that bit brighter when Daisy talks is TOO GOOD. And that smile is freaking gorgeous, urgh love him. Everytime Saint appeared, I died a little, that man does things to me holy crap.

Rating: starts off like a 6/10, ends up a 9/10

Colour Rush S2/Tinted with You

I watched this for Hyuk and Junhee. I couldn't watched the entire series (at least not legally) so I am probably missing somethings plotwise, but hey, let's be honest, I wasn't here for the plot.

Rating: 7/10 (gotta support the homies, stan VIXX and stan ACE)

YYY/Y-Destiny/Why R U

Couldn't finish these, just watched YYY and Y-Destiny for Talay T-T

Something about Why R U was not doing it for me :(((

Rating: 0/10 (but I'm sure they are series people can appreciate, I am just not one of them and that's on me)
