Tight-Knit Family
Aftg Falsettos AU, in which Wymack is Marvin, Stuart is Whizzer, Abby is Trina, Betsy is Mendel, Kevin is Jason and Andreil are the lesbians from next door.
Betsy adopted Andrew when he was seven. Then after finding out about Aaron and Nicky she adopted them too.
Nathan killed Mary when she tried running away with Neil. Stuart is a very successful businessman who killed Nathan and adopted Neil. The Moriyamas give permission to Stuart in exchange for him helping them for the next ten years.
Stuart does that from England, but after a while they need him in the US. He brings Neil with him since Neil's still a minor and Stuart's his legal guardian and they stay in Millport, Arizona. Neil goes to school there for a year.
Kayleigh went to Wymack with Kevin one day and told him that Kevin was his son. Then she disappeared and no one heard from her ever again. Wymack married Abby because he thought Kevin needed a mom.
Kevin recruits Neil the same way and he agrees right away. They haven't met before and Neil isn't on the run. He's always loved Exy. The reason he didn't resist going to the US was because of Exy.
It's Neil's second year of college, and everything goes more or less the same way, except Andrew never drugs Neil. There's nothing suspicious about him. He doesn't look at Kevin weirdly, doesn't have a large amount of money in his binder or pictures and articles of Kevin and Riko. He owns a normal amount of clothes and stuff.
The fic starts with Wymack and Abby sitting Kevin down and telling him about the divorce. Abby is bisexual and she has internalized homophobia. She says some homophobic things and they tell Kevin that he'll meet Wymack's boyfriend soon.
Kevin is very dramatic about it. He goes to his dorm and rants to Andrew and Neil about it. He's aroace and doesn't understand why people do stupid things, like breaking a perfectly "happy" family, because of love. He's kinda homophobic too like he believes Wymack was straight and whoever his boyfriend is "turned him gay".
His audience isn't impressed, though. Neil knows about Wymack and Stuart and says that Kevin shouldn't say those things, before meeting the boyfriend. Also, he tells him from experience that if there was no love between Abby and Wymack it was better for everyone that they separated.
Andrew says that you can't "turn" people gay. Also, Andrew and Neil are already together at this point, so they're really the worst possible people for Kevin to vent about it.
Kevin meets Stuart the next day and when he realizes it's Neil's uncle, he gets mad at Neil too. He expects Andrew to support him, but he takes Neil's side. He even refuses to give Kevin a ride to the court, let alone play with him to work through his anger.
Wymack goes to Betsy for therapy. He suggests to Abby that she go too since she's (understandably) very upset about the whole situation. Abby goes and she and Betsy hit it off right away.
Betsy is a terrible therapist. Worse than she's in the books. She's based on Mendel, after all. Abby doesn't notice that, though. So after she finds Kevin playing Exy by himself, she tries very hard to convince Kevin to see Betsy too. Kevin agrees only if Betsy goes to the court.
She goes and Kevin is like 'finally here's someone who'll understand me.' He finds out how wrong he was shortly after. Kevin says how he hates everyone, including Andrew. Betsy tells him that Andrew's her son. Then he says some homophobic things and Betsy's like 'I'm lesbian.' It's very awkward.
Kevin tries to find Kayleigh, but Andrew finds out and tells him that if she abandoned him she doesn't deserve to be his mother.
Kevin's therapy sessions continue because Abby forces him to go.
Abby and Betsy fall in love and decide to get married. Wymack gets angry because they're his therapist and ex-wife. Andrew threatens Abby that if she doesn't treat his mother how she deserves, he'll kill her. Betsy's there too and she laughs it off. She says something like 'they're crazy when they're teens, huh?" Abby says "isn't he 20?" and Betsy laughs like it's a joke.
Wymack overhears it and tells Andrew that he can't threaten Abby with death. Andrew replies that it's above his pay grade because Abby's nothing to him anymore. That hits Wymack hard.
Then the winter banquet arrives and Riko tells Wymack about Stuart's real work. Wymack breaks up with him, because a) Stuart's a danger to his team, and b) he feels like he can't trust Stuart anymore like he doesn't know who Stuart is anymore.
Stuart says that his debt will be paid by the summer. But doesn't mention why it exists in the first place. He goes back to England and takes Neil with him. Before they go Neil tells him about how Stuart got involved with the Moriyamas in the first place. Neil also says that Stuart is more helpful than dangerous when it comes to the Moriyamas. When Riko tried to get him on his team, Stuart made him back off.
Wymack starts to regret breaking up with him, but he doesn't have the time to think about it and lets Stuart go.
Kevin notices how similar Andrew and Wymack's behaviors are when their boyfriends are away. He understands that even though he doesn't feel romantic attraction, he still loves his family and friends. And if romance is what makes them happy, he'll do anything he can to bring it back to them.
So Kevin teams up with Neil and they create a plan. They decide that if Neil convinces Stuart to come with him to the US, Kevin will take it from there and get them back together.
It turns out, Kevin doesn't have to work as hard for that to happen as he imagined. He sneaks Stuart where Wymack is, as though he can see Neil playing Exy better. They don't need any more meddling and get back together.
Betsy starts working as a team therapist. Wymack's not too happy about that at first, but then he sees how much she helps with the Foxes, and starts respecting her for that.
Months pass by and their relationships gradually get better. They play the final game against the Ravens. Kevin and Riko didn't know each other until they were already in college and they're just rivals. Kevin is a better striker than Kevin and he's jealous of him. He can't do anything about it, though. Jean plays for the Trojans from the start.
The Foxes win, of course. When Wymack, Abby, Betsy, and Stuart are celebrating with them in the locker room, Riko somehow gets in there. He says something insulting about them, and Kevin stands up to him and defends his family.

Percabeth Wedding Headcanons
They considered not getting married as a fuck you to Hera, but decided a better fuck you would be to not let her rule their lives.
Annabeth wore a white suit with a blue tie and Percy wore a black suit with a grey tie.
There was a huge fight over who got to be whose bride's/groom's bitches. Eventually Tyson was Percy's best man, with Jason, Frank, Hazel, Nico and Leo in his crew.
Annabeth's maid of honour was Thalia, with Reyna, Piper, Magnus, Clarisse, Rachel and the Stoll brothers in hers.
Chiron officiated. Estelle was flower girl. Grover was ring bearer, and he began chewing the cushion halfway through the ceremony, while sobbing the most.
Coach Hedge held his club up threateningly, but his eyes were suspiciously moist too.
Calypso was the next big crier, sitting with her arms crossed stubbornly in a white vintage T-shirt and faded jeans, tears seeping out through the corners of her eyes.
Almost all the gods came.
Aphrodite was jumping up and down and cooing over them, giving Percy looks that made him turn bright red. She looked exactly like Annabeth to him now.
Apollo was sprawled in a front seat that he was not supposed to be in, and had dragged Will and Meg with him, Will smiling awkwardly while Meg chatted with Artemis about how annoying Apollo was.
Hermes appeared to Percy in the dressing room ("Do you gods have NO respect for privacy?") because he 'had a message for him.’ A message from him, George and Martha, for once, wishing him good luck. They chatted, and then Percy asked if he'd met Annabeth too, but Hermes stiffened and left.
Afterwards tho he and Annabeth came face to face during the reception, and it was awkward and silent. It ended with both of them in tears about Luke, but it was healing for them both. Hermes gave her her dagger back, and Annabeth was surprised and asked how he got it back from Tartarus. Hermes said Bob had found it and sent it up, and was on the lookout for her laptop too -
But he didn't get to finish, because Annabeth hugged him hard, and after initial shock he hugged her back.
The tension between Athena and Poseidon was palpable, and they were seated as far apart as possible.
Poseidon thumped Annabeth on the back so hard she almost toppled into the lake, booming "I should have known! My son and I seem to have yet another thing in common - a love for queens among women." And Percy turned red again. Poseidon gave Percy a huge hug, and went on to meet Sally Jackson. Poseidon took his son marrying a daughter of his rival better than Athena did, though.
When Annabeth and Athena met, there was some tension. It was difficult for Athena to admit she was harsh and unfair with what she said to Annabeth in HOO, and to apologize, but Percy put his hand on Annabeth's shoulder and stood behind her, even when Athena turned her piercing gaze on him and asked that she talk to Annabeth alone. He only went when Annabeth asked him to.
Athena told Annabeth she was proud of her, and added that there was a chance she might be as great, and even greater, than Daedalus. Annabeth knew this was her best attempt at showing affection, and appreciated it.
Athena then accosted Percy, on his way back with drinks, and gave him a once over and humphed. Percy didn't flinch or show any signs of being intimidated, and she raised and eyebrow and finally said, "I will admit, Perseus Jackson, that I did not think you a good choice for my daughter. I still have my doubts... However you have proved yourself more than worthy, and so I gave you permission to marry her. But make no mistake - if you hurt her, I will crack your skull open and extract every brain cell you have left, until you are a drooling, gibbering mess." Percy replied, "If I hurt Annabeth, she'll break every bone in my body before you even get to me. So I don't think you have to worry about that." They parted on fair terms.
Artemis met Percy and Annabeth together, and they had a short conversation about the merits of being turned into a Jackalope, vs the merits of being married. "Life as a Jackalope is more enjoyable than it would seem. However, you have chosen your bane, and against all odds, I hold hope for you both." she concluded.
Hestia was tending the flames when Percy and Annabeth went to meet her, both respecting her as the most helpful goddess of legit all time. She smiled and simply said, "Hope is stronger than ever now, Percy Jackson, for you now build a new and loving home - a rarer place than you would expect."
Mr. D insisted on making a speech, and making it out to Perry Jorganesson and Annie Bell.
The only god not present was Zeus. In fact, he'd banned the gods from going when it became clear that everyone wanted to go, but the gods' respect for him after the way he handled the HOO fiasco was in negative numbers so every single one of them sneaked out of Olympus. Even those who normally wouldn’t have gone went to spite him.
Hades and Persephone went as a couple. Hades sniffed and smirked, saying only that he was glad Percy was 'not my son's type, or I'd have to deal with you' (but he low key ships Percabeth). Persephone though, smiled radiantly and was one coo away from fangirl squealing. Before they left, Hades gave them a note from Bob.
"Bob saw two stars already. They were next to him in Tartarus. Bob says hello." Percy and Annebth sobbed for fiat that, holding each other tightly. They made a point of mapping every single constellation that night. They almost cried again when they saw the Huntress above them.
Hephaestus's eyes twinkled, and he said, "I see that trap in Waterland worked after all - even if not in the way I'd intended."
Ares just grunted that Annabeth had a better weapon (the dragon fang sword) than the last time he saw her, and took his sunglasses off to glare at Percy. "Now there are TWO goddesses who'll kill me if I snuff you out."
The highlight though was Hera waltzing in, smiling smugly like she'd set up the whole thing, and eating a slice of cake, turning a seashell-and-flower arrangement into a cow because it 'looked better, and brought back memories'. She left soon enough, but not before the cow had left a warm gift.
Grover gave his blessing as Lord of the Wild, Rachel gave hers as the Oracle, and the gods fully expected Percabeth to ask for one of their blessings next, but instead the two turned to Sally Jackson and asked for her blessing as the 'supreme goddess'.
The ceremony was in the pavilion, and the reception was around the canoe lake at twilight. The trees around the canoe lake were hung with fairy lights, and Juniper and the dryads had ensured that the sweetest, most fragrant flowers grew. Seashells decorated the venue. Calypso had brought moonlace that began to glow and smell even more beautiful as night began to fall. The Hecate cabin had enchanted sparkling butterflies to flutter around them both after it got dark. The naiads sang in voices nearly as beautiful as the sirens, although lighter and airier. The pegasi flew in formation.
Bessie the Ophiotaurus as well as the Hippocampi were in attendance.
Percy and Annabeth did their first dance underwater, and kissed before resurfacing. Everyone looked around for the dance floor, but couldn't see a thing, when they realized - the lake was the dance floor. Percy had managed to magic the lake, with favours from the naiads and Poseidon, into a liquid dance floor that rippled different colours with each step.
Their wedding day had been on the last day of camp, with the whole camp invited, so with nightfall came the camp traditions, but even better.
There was the fireworks display of course, but with Leo's help it was doubly glorious and even began to tell Percabeth's story. Annabeth looked like she'd die when it began showing the Thrill Ride of Love part of the story, because "It doesn't matter if we're married Percy! It's still embarrassing!"
Camp fire was even more cheerful, what with the gods and mortals allowed in for the first time, and of course Piper+Leo and the Stoll brothers played pranks - it was funnier than it would have been because their pranks overlapped and backfired on each other instead.
Instead of wedding bands, Percabeth were married with camp beads - an owl and a trident artistically intertwined in a silver thread carved heart, designed by Rachel. Hazel summoned the silver and some jewels to embellish them - and this time, she knew, somehow, that they weren’t cursed.
Of course the cake and all food and drink was blue, as well as the flowers, the wedding party's outfits, and (on Annabeth's request as a surprise for Percy) the guests’ clothes. Aphrodite went super overboard with that, and even Artemis succumbed to a small blue flower and fang accessory in her hair.
As soon as the dancing and music ended (as soon as they could get the mic away from Apollo), the activity underway was Capture the Flag with Percy and Annabeth leading opposite teams composed of their bridal parties+friends. Coach Hedge and the Hermes, Ares, Aphrodite and part of the Apollo cabins along with a bunch of minor god cabins went on Annabeth's team, and Will, Meg, and the rest in Percy's. The gods sat it out (some had to be physically restrained) as did Grover, the nature spirits, animals and mortals (Rachel had to be dissuaded from entering armed with plastic hairbrushes and improv lighter-and-spray flamethrowers).
Nobody won. Instead of crossing over the boundary line when they met with each other's flags in hand, Percy and Annabeth started making out. Clarisse could be heard grumbling about it later.
Grover and Thalia stayed back long after everyone had left, and the four of them spent time together until four in the morning.
BTW Annabeth proposed to Percy right before he was about to propose to her. They both looked at each other in surprise for a solid minute, and then burst out laughing. It was impossible to tell who said yes, or if any of them did, but they didn't need to.
They’d both gone to Tyson for the engagement rings. Tyson was confused at first, but promised to keep their secret from each other.
Grover on the other end of the link just stopped mid conversation with the Council of Cloven Elders and Dionysus, and bleated loudly in relief, "FREAKING FINALLY." out of nowhere, and while everyone looked bewildered, Dionysus though just took a sip of diet coke and rolled his eyes, sighing, "Took them long enough."
They proposed to each other on Percy's birthday. Annabeth had baked another blue cupcake ("I'm getting better at it, too!") and they were cuddling/play fighting/sprawling on the sofa late at night in Sally's apartment, talking. They sat with their legs crossed together, devouring the cupcake with their fingers, talking about their plans.
Annabeth mentioned that she'd designed this new building for New Rome that she was SO excited to build (Reyna had contracted her as New Rome's architect), and asked if Percy wanted to see the design. Percy agreed, and she retrieved a roll of paper. Annabeth began to explain enthusiastically, and, pointing at the center of the design, said, "And this is my favourite part." Percy leaned in further to see what she was pointing at - at the heart of the temple, where the altar should be, was a blue-silver ring with a wave design over the words "will you marry me?"
Annabeth looked almost anxiously at Percy, but he looked blank. Finally, Percy uncapped Riptide, which she hadn't noticed was poised in his hand as if he was going to point or correct something on the sheet, and instead of expanding into a sword, it remained a ball pen - with a simple silver ring etched with the words "Wise Girl" around its tip.
They stared at each other, stumped, before exploding in laughter.
Sally and Paul came running from the next room, Estelle copying them and giggling in Paul's arms, worried that it was a monster attack. When instead they saw Percy and Annabeth laughing and hugging, each wearing a ring on fingers covered in blue frosting and looking as if they couldn't quite believe it, Sally burst into tears right there and had to explain to her concerned kids, laughing, that these were happy tears because secretly she still couldn't believe that they had all found their happiness and it was something she'd only dared to dream of because it was everything she ever wanted for her son and she was happy to and oh how long had she waited and worked and hoped for a happy ending for all of them but never really expected it and this was too much -

Have you ever been robbed? No, thankfully. Ever kiss someone on the first date? No. Ever sleep with someone on the first date? Definitely a nope. Ever give someone a wrong phone number on purpose? No. What’s the strangest thing you have ever witnessed firsthand? I have no idea. It's... very morbid, but possibly dogs twitching after being euthanized. Seeing Teddy do it was such a strange, painful experience. Like there was still life in there... even though I know it was just his nerves doing their final hoorah and he was already dead. Ever seen a psychiatric ward? I've been in a mental hospital five or six times, so I'm uncomfortably familiar with them. What is the last thing you did that you didn’t want to do? Group therapy. Nah. Do you prefer to sleep alone or with someone else? Sleeping alone is more comfortably physically, but I usually prefer sleeping with a partner because there's this amazing feeling of safety, love, and companionship. How many pillows do you sleep with? Two. Do you prefer cold air and blankets, or warm air and no blankets? Cold air and blankets by ten miles. I can't sleep if I'm even remotely hot. How often do you dust? Sigh, not as much as I need to. What is the most "extreme" activity you have ever done? I haven't done very much that fits that description... so idk. Dr. Pepper or root beer? Dr. Pepper. I hate root beer. Last room you cleaned? Mine. Last thing you did that made you feel like an adult? Checked into the doctor's office by myself, haha... Talk about sad. What’s your favorite picture of your mom? Dad? It's not my business to actually share those pictures, but I can describe them. I fucking ADORE this candid photograph I took of my mom laughing; I will forever cherish it. It's morbid to think about, but it's absolutely a picture I'll frame of her once she's passed away. I don't have many pictures of Dad, but I do really like this picture we took together at Red Lobster once. Are you subscribed to anything (Magazines, monthly boxes, streaming sites, etc.)? Mom pays an Adobe Creative Cloud photography bundle subscription for me, but that's it. Last TV show series you finished? Fullmetal Alchemist with Sara. It was a rewatch for me, but she'd never seen it. What’s something exciting that’s happened to one of your friends recently? A childhood friend got engaged a few days back. Do you have any board games? If so, where do you keep them? We have a few somewhere. What were the last things you glued together? I don’t recall. What are your friends’ pets’ names? I'll just use Sara here since she's my best friend. She has two family dogs, Buster and Beesly, a cat named Winter, four ball pythons named Martha, Crowley, Little Dot, and Jane Marie, and Doris, a bearded dragon that I personally adore most. :') What all did you do today? I played World of Warcraft early this morning, but not for very long. I've been in a phase of being very uninterested in it lately. I've mostly just done surveys... lots of surveys. I'm just in the mood to. I've also been listening to music and watching John Wolfe play Amnesia: Rebirth periodically. If you live in a house, how many floors does it have? If you live in an apartment building, how many units does it have? It's just one floor. Would you like to live in a world with mythical creatures, even if they turned out to be evil or dangerous? Honestly... I probably would, haha. Are you scared of heights? Yes. When was the last time you lost something of great sentimental value? Did you ever end up finding it again? Never, I think and hope. What food do you find to be the most filling? Is this something you eat a lot of? Eggs or oatmeal. Not really. What do you think of people who purposefully train their dogs to fight or to be aggressive? They're fucking garbage human beings. If you suffer/have suffered with acne, do you squeeze your spots or do your best to just leave them be? Ugh, I was so bad (and still am if something pops up) about picking at it. Does your father have any hobbies? What are they? Sure. He loves sports, fishing, idk if he still plays video games, fantasy football... and I can't forget playing with his grandkids. It's hard for me to know all of them when I don't live with him and see him rarely. What did the last face mask you wore look like? It was just a white cotton one. Is there a specific song that you always request at parties? What is it? I don't go to parties. Would you rather read poetry or write poetry? Write it. Have you ever had any really infected injuries? I've had infected piercings as well as a badly infected pilonidal cyst. Is there any band out there that you like every song by them? No. Are you popular on any websites? No. What was the last song you listened to? Aaaaand now I'm hooked on "NIHIL" by 3TEETH. Are you currently texting anyone right now? No. When was the last time you played jump rope? Yikes, probably not since I was a kid. I used to love it. Who was the last person you offended? I dunno. What’s the earliest you’ve ever had to wake up for work? Not early. Do you know anyone who has changed their first name? I know trans people who have, yes. Do you know anyone who has been on life support and survived? No. At least, I don't believe so. Do your parents have a strong relationship together? They're divorced, and Mom at least can't stand him. Dad doesn't really care. Do you ever feel like you’re sharing too much about yourself online? Oh, I absolutely used to. I still might, idk. I've tried to reel it back some. How many windows are in the room you’re in? Eight, but they're just small, vertical rectangles stacked together, so it's not as revealing as it sounds. What was the last necklace you wore? My spiked choker, I think, for pictures. Or maybe the one I have with a bunch of big silver skulls. Do you think there are more dimensions than what we’re able to perceive? I don't think so, no. Does anyone in your family have schizophrenia? My half-sister on Dad's side that I've never met. Have you ever been in an abandoned house? A shack, yeah. Do you like art? I positively adore it. I could NOT imagine life without it. How about theatre? I don't care for it. Have you ever made breakfast for someone? Yes, for Sara. Do you talk to your crush? If you have one. Yeah, she's my best fren. If yes, what do you usually talk about? Nowadays I ask her almost daily how she's doing in regards to her progress of recovering from both serious physical and mental stressors. I try to always be an available ear if she ever wants to vent. Would you rather read or watch a video about something? Watch a video. In what ways have you fulfilled some of the hopes and dreams you had as a teenager? I've fulfilled none of those. What’s one stressful thing you’ve been trying to deal with lately? How have you been dealing with it? Inexplicable, chronic boredom/serious anhedonia. I've just... put up with it. I get pleasure out of essentially nothing most days, and it sucks big time. I just try to distract myself and force myself to do things I usually love, though I've been bad about actually succeeding in making me do said stuff... Is there a regional chain of store/restaurant/etc. in your area that you feel very loyal to? MOTHERFUCKIN BOJANGLE'S, BITCH. You think YOU have good fries somewhere? Oh hunny, sit down. Oftentimes, people warn us against getting tattoos or body modifications or dying our hair unnatural colors because we could be judged poorly for them. But has a more “alternative” look ever worked out in your favor? Well, I like myself better with my piercings and tattoos, and that's all that really matters to me. Do you have any daily routine/habit of that you’re really proud of keeping up? No. .-. Pick one of the following activities to do in a forest (assume you would be equally good at each one of these): Foraging for mushrooms, identifying trees, searching for specific types of bugs, trying to build something out of fallen branches and logs. Searching for bugs w/ my camera!!! But that all sounds fun. What’s the hardest class you’ve ever taken? My most recent math course that I failed horribly.

February 5, 2021: The Notebook (2004)(Part 1)
...Do I have to?
Tumblr media
...The year was 2004. I was 13, my Mom was still into romance movies, and we had a Hollywood Video nearby. God, I miss Hollywood Video, you have NO idea. Anyway, I obviously didn’t watch this movie (or I wouldn’t be watching it now), but I do remember kissing in the rain...or was that just the DVD cover? Other than that, I got nothin’. Still, I like both Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling in other works, so I guess we’ll see.
I also can’t start this without acknowledging the fact that this is based upon a Nicholas Sparks book, and...I’m not into that. Sparks sucks, man. Sappy, overemotional, and constantly predictable folderol.
Tumblr media
OK, Nicholas Sparks, let’s get this over with. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Recap
We start with scenic shots of a boat rowing through a marsh, being visited by a flock of snow geese. As they fly off, an elderly woman (Gena Rowlands) looks out of a window over it. The woman is in an old-folks home, and is visited by Duke (James Garner), another resident. He’s here to read from a book, despite it not being a “good day,” according to the woman’s attendant.
Tumblr media
The story in the book begins on June 6, 1940, at a carnival in South Carolina. There, Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) sees Allie Hamilton (Rachel McAdams), and it’s infatuation at first sight. He’s a lumber yard worker, and she’s a rich heiress. He’s also EXTREMELY forward, and she’s EXTREMELY not interested. He approaches her for a dance (at a...carnival), and she says no, having literally never seen this guy before. He responds to this rejection by...butting into her date with another dude of a Ferris Wheel?
And when she once again rejects his offer for a date...he, uh...he threatens to kill himself off of the Ferris Wheel?
Tumblr media
Um. Yeah, no. That’s a new level of manipulation. She pants him on the Ferris Wheel and humiliates him, but JESUS CHRIST, this dude is a lot. That’s compounded the next day, when he continues to pursue her, and she continues to be EXTREMELY not interested! DUDE. GET A GODDAMN CLUE HERE, she is NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR SHIT.
Is Noah the first simp? Because he’s really starting to seem like it. Anyway, Noah and his friend Fin (Kevin Connolly) basically set her up to go on a double date with Noah, and he continues to be overly forward. Maybe this is supposed to be romantic, but it definitely doesn’t feel like it to me.
Tumblr media
We find out that Allie is a quite well-educated young woman, whose schedule is basically completely controlled by her parents, who want her to go to college as well. Noah questions why her life is so restrictive, nothing that she should be free, which she insists she is. He then lies down in the middle of the road, watching the street...lights…
Holy shit, he’s a manic pixie dream boy. HOLY SHIT HE’S A MANIC PIXIE DREAM SIMP. He does all these quirky things, and breaks the girl in the restrictive lifestyle out of said lifestyle. Even if his dumbass actions nearly get him and Allie killed. See, she lies down in the street with him, and they nearly get run over by a car. And this second near-death experience is apparently SO romantic, that Allie’s won over, and they...just dance in the middle of the street. Because Ryan Gosling has no idea where to dance, apparently.
Tumblr media
Billie Holiday sings “I’ll Be Seeing You” in the background (which, yes, I love), and we cut back to Duke reading to the elderly woman, who correctly guesses that they fell in love. And yeah, they go head-over-heels, apparently. Which is symbolized by, just, the most graphic of PDAs over, lord.
Tumblr media
Allie meets Noah’s father, Frank (Sam Shepard), a seemingly nice man and poetry fan (he’s a Tennyson man apparently). He asks her if she wants breakfast-for-dinner, and he’s my favorite character so far.
However, as if to set up the conflict to come, we’re reminded that this is a summer romance, and that they come from two different classes and worlds. Because of course they do, but whatever, moving on. That is when the following scene takes place.
youtube
...Look, I’m a bird guy by trade, and even I think that was weird.
We get more glimpses of their romance, including them dancing at a gathering with...a bunch of black peopNOPE. HOLD YOUR TONGUE, 365, WAIT FOR THE REVIEW TO TALK ABOUT THAT SHIT. At the end of this montage, we meet Allie’s father, the uppity and rich John Hamilton (David Thornton), and his GLORIOUS mustache (mustache).
He invites Noah to Sunday brunch, which is being attended by...black servaHOOOOOOLD. NOT NOW 365 NOT NOW. We also meet Allie’s controlling mother, Anne Hamilton (Joan Allen). When Noah tells them how much money he makes, they immediately look down on him and his poor, poor ways. Anne reveals that Allie is headed to Sarah Lawrence, an all-girl’s school in New York. Which is, uh...NOT close.
Tumblr media
Anne very much disapproves of her relationship with Noah, seeing him as a low-born of little consequence. Not that it matters, because the two head to a DEFINITELY HAUNTED house in the woods one night, which overlooks the marshlands. The bats from the Scooby-Doo intro fly by as the two walk in to, again, AN ABSOLUTELY HAUNTED HOUSE. This is the 1772 Windsor Plantation, home to...the Swamp Fox? Huh. Didn’t expect a crossover with the Mel Gibson movie The Patriot, but OK then.
The two talk about their house in the future, and somewhere in the house, a painting’s eyes move mysteriously. Allie plays a tune on the piano, which 1) sounds AMAZINGLY creepy, and 2) I’m pretty sure is the opening song, which is a neat touch. Guess that’s the theme for the movie, or possibly Allie’s leitmotif.
Tumblr media
Anyway, it seems that the ghostly wails of Old Man Marion have gotten them both all hot and bothered, and they prepare to make love, right there in the old haunted house. The two undress while social distancing, then approach, significantly raising their risks of contracting COVID-19. Allie is CLEARLY very nervous, and as they attempt to begin the dirty deed, Allie can’t stop rambling about the current situation. Which is clearly putting Noah off the mood, but the two still clearly care about each other. It’s weirdly sweet, considering the fact that there’re, like, 50 ghosts watching, and God knows how many of those are slaaaaaaaAAAANYWAY
Tumblr media
Fin suddenly bursts in, as it would appear that Allie’s parents have every policeman in town looking for her. Her parents are clearly upset, and her mother demands that Allie stops seeing Noah, whom she literally describes as “trash.” Jesus. And they aren’t exactly quiet about it, as Noah hears the entire conversation. He understandably leaves, and is also clearly disheartened by the whole situation.
Tumblr media
When Allie catches up to him, he says he has to think about this whole thing, including the fact that she’s going to Sarah Lawrence, and he’s staying behind. And I’m not gonna lie, he’s actually being realistic about this whole thing, and she’s acting FAR less rational. She actually breaks up with him right then and there, and as she’s literally physically assaulting him, I realize that SHE is actually the psychologically unstable one, HOLY SHIT. Emotionally compromised or not, Allie goes BONKERS here.
The next day, her folks decide that they’re leaving, that very day. Allie doesn’t want to leave without making amends with Noah, and she’s regretting her actions the previous night. She goes to Fin, and tells him to tell Noah that she loves him, and that she’s sorry. Noah shows up a little too late, and goes to return the comments, but Allie’s already gone.
Tumblr media
Noah somehow gets her address, and writes her 365 letters, one letter every day. He never gets one in response, so he gives up and moves with Fin to Atlanta. Allie’s mom is seen getting the mail, so we know EXACTLY what happened to those letters. Meanwhile, it’s now 1941, and it’s time for World War II for the USA! Fin and Noah fight with Patton’s troops, and Fin doesn’t make it.
Allie, meanwhile, is in college, and works as a Nurse’s Aide for war veterans. She sees all of them as Noah,,,which is weird because she hasn’t gotten any of his letters, so she wouldn’t know that he went to war, but whatever. One of these injured men is Lon Hammond, Jr. (James Marsden). And...aw...AWWWWWWW. Did I just type James Marsden? GODDAMN IT HE’S GONNA GET CUCKED
Tumblr media
James Marsden seems to have only one role in movies, and that’s to be overshadowed by another dude, even though in many instances, he’s a totally fine guy. The X-Men films, Superman Returns, Enchanted, the Westworld series in a way, TELL ME I AM GODDAMN WRONG. Dude’s always in movies where he plays the love interest to a girl, and that girl is pursued by another guy, and he ALWAYS LOSES TO THAT GUY. You could argue that Cyclops in the X-Men escaped that fate, but need I remind that first, Jean died, and then she came back AND KILLED HIM. STOP SCREWING OVER JASON MARSDEN’S LOVE LIFE, MOVIES!!!!
Seems like we’re once again headed down that path, though, as the very injured Lon asks Allie out on a date while in recovery, then takes her out once he’s healed. And, since he’s about as forward as Noah was, but less crazy when asking her out, she falls in love with him quickly. And it’s Duke that makes that assessment, not me. And, OF COURSE, he’s a rich Southern boy, meaning that her parents are going to approve.
Tumblr media
At a dance club in the city with...black performDEAR GOD IT’S GETTING HARD TO HOLD ON BUT I GOTTA DO IT MOVING ON
He proposes to her, with her parents’ full permission (of course, because he’s rich and southern, gross), and she gladly accepts. He jumps on stage and announces to the entire club that they’re getting married. However, she’s still missing Noah subconsciously.
Speaking of, Noah comes home from war, presumably in 1945, and finds that his father sold him the house in order to buy the Windsor Plantation. Around the same time, Noah finds out that Allie’s moved on, and is with Lon. So, what does he do? The only logical thing: he restores the entire plantation by himself in order to win Allie back FUCKING REALLY?
Tumblr media
Dude, you rebuilt an entire house on your own, your father died, and you could EASILY get rich off of selling the house and continuing to restore other derelict properties in the area! Upwards mobility, my man! You don’t even need to stay in town anymore! Hell, THAT’S a better plan to win both Allie’s AND her parents’ approval! STOP SIMPIN’, AND IF YOU’RE GONNA SIMP, DO IT RIGHT!!!
He’s also sleeping with a war widow, Martha Shaw (Jamie Brown), and STILL thinks only of Allie, and her sweet, sweeeeeeet bathwater, probably. Speaking of, Allie’s trying on a wedding dress, when she sees a photo of Noah in the paper in front of the plantation, which certainly shocks her. Confused, she goes to see Lon at his job as a stockbroker, and laments to him her lost romantic whimsy, brought up by seeing Ryan Gosling (AKA a natural response). She tells him that she’s going to Seabrook to “clear her head.” Lon asks if he should be worried. She says no. SHE LIIIIIIIIIIES.
Tumblr media
Halfway mark, and this is a good place to cut! See you in Part 2!

Have you ever thought of doing a random "accidentally married" thing with Tim? Say, he has a good day and helps two complete. Only those two people aren't actually human, and by helping them he accidentally married them by their traditions? I was reading a fanfiction about an accidental marriage and thought about your Tim.
Hi babe.
Ah, the only one I’ve done is here: https://iphoenixrising.tumblr.com/post/176647509047/from-that-writing-thing-you-reblogged-in-your.
It’s a little bit of TimDami for your day ;)
But, I’m thinking like Red Robin just chilling out and taking down some awful alien bad guys hiding out on Earth with these two Barrilion detectives. The team is on a break for two weeks, so Red has found something to keep him occupied.
Barlot and Salsdan are good detectives. They’ve studied enough of Earth’s customs on their way chasing the gang of intergalactic baddies to get most of his terrible references.
So, really. Score.
It’s even better when they finally track a shady link to the underground selling very advanced weaponry. His usual Whirlybirds are super effective and the small throwing discs Salsdan gave him before they made their way into the abandoned installation.
Since he would be a bad planetary host if the visitors got injured during an operation, he takes a few more hits than necessary to throw both of them out of the way one time or another.
Still, it doesn’t take much more effort than a usual brawl between the team and H.I.V.E, so after the thugs are tied up and the aliens cuffed with special manacles, Red Robin is prepared to call it a good night.
He ends up on their ship, patching himself up, talking to an ambassador on the wave comm to give his statement as “local law enforcement” (they don’t need to know differently), and rides to the Watch Tower with them to transfer the baddies to a holding cell and wait for a prison ship to swing by this sector.
Red Robin gives them a good-bye wave, and goes to the room he still has on the Watch Tower. One inside the Titan’s main set of rooms, a place he can get out of the suit and take a shower.
He doesn’t expect the two detectives to be following him, and slip inside the main room with him until there are suddenly hands all over his body.
“This is lovely,” Barlot is at his throat, teeth moving over the tendon, drawing a gasp out of the pinned vigilante. “Perfect place for the first mating. Agree, partner?”
Salsdan moans in his mouth, eats his noises right down.
“Come, come, let him at least breathe. Stop being greedy!”
That shakes him out of being very pliant with the attention (it’s been a while, don’t judge, okay?), and the vigilante senses kick in automatically.
He flips over Barlot’s smaller figure, puts his back to the door, hands up for a possible strike. “What the utter fuck–”
“You saved our lives,” Salsdan blinks at him, hands up, “that’s the best courting gift I’ve ever got, even from this blort.”
“I gave your a perfectly acceptable gift!” Barlot snipes back, eyes all for the beautiful, intelligent Earthling he is fairly salivating to have.
“Stop. Right. There.” Red only straightens slightly, “I did not give anyone a courting gift. At. All.”
“Husband,” Barlot chances a step closer, his unusual eyes softly fond, “aiding us in our quest is absolutely a courting gesture. But saving us? Both of us? At great risk to yourself? What else could that be except proof you like us enough to be– um, to be…joined? Ah, no, something else? Um…”
Salsdan is beside him, subtly getting even closer to the shocked vigilante. “Married, Bar. It is termed differently in our language, but the premise is the same.” And the hand suddenly on his jaw is just slightly cooler, softer than a normal human hand, turning him to look in those eyes. “When you spilled blood for us, you claimed us as yours, Husband.”
“I’m sorry…I what now?”
He flinches a little, but Barlot has him by one wrist, both of them closing in, “now, we can either accept by completing the ritual with copious mating and make vows.”
Copious. Mating.
What the hell has he gotten himself into?!
“This is a huge misunderstanding,” he deadpan even though the hand working itself to the back of his neck is rubbing out the knots there. “I am way too young to get married, and I saved you because it would be totally shitty of me to let any visitors on my planet get killed by bad guys.”
With his free hand, he grips Salsdan’s wrist, stopping the motion. His other hand turns in Barlot’s, holding both aliens still.
The two detectives exchange a glance, something that vaguely reminds him of how Nightwing and Hood exchange those couple-y looks.
“We definitely misunderstood,” Barlot turns back to meet his whiteouts with a small smile. “Our apologies.”
“If you would be open to it, we would still enjoy mating with you?” Salsdan finishes hopefully. “Without the joining, I promise. But you are quite a lovely creature, Red Robin. Bar and I would very much enjoy taking you to bed.”
Well, this is better than expected.
“…Tim. I… My name is Tim.”
Both aliens step up into him again, taking the statement for what it was.
Permission.
This time he can fall back into their hands, peel away layers of the suit, and drunkenly walk them through the communal room to his own. His mouth and body are kept busy with their attention and his own exploration.
The make soft clicking noises against him, longer, rougher tongues on the sensitive parts of his body, and it feels fucking amazing to be touched.
It’s even better to be bracketed in by two bodies in between rounds for the next 48 hours, to be bare and held in a tangle of limbs, for lazy kisses against the back of his neck, the soft nips, and lithe tongue sliding back in his mouth when he’s awake enough to moan.
But he doesn’t feel terrible when the fun is ended with a wave from home world. The next case is coming up, so it’s time to go home. And their last time trying out his shower is the absolute best way to diplomatically say come back any time.
He sees them to their ship suited up and masked, hair still slightly wet from the shower.
They shake his hand with soft smiles and a promise to try coming back one day. He grins back without believing a word, gives best of luck on the next move in the fight against the baddies, and goes back to his regularly schedule crime fighting time.
It’s a few months later, maybe when Tim’s working something close with the Batfamily in Gotham when the Barrilions show up again, and greet him with a little too much PDA for Hood and N not to notice.
(Who zzat fucker nuzzlin’ my Timmy?)(If I’m going to cause an intergalactic incident, it’s going to be tonight.)
“Whoa! Nice to see you guys too,” while Red is literally lightheaded with how hot his face is, “right in the middle of a case here. This is Nightwing and the Red Hood. My…colleagues.”
He doesn’t even see it when both vigilantes whip right the hell around to give him intense stares from behind whiteouts.
“Oh! More Earth law enforcements!” Barlot keeps an arm around his waist, above the utility belt. “How nice to meet you. Did our almost-Husband tell you of our adventures here on your planet?”
Salsdan slides up on his other side, and Red Robin pauses when he really, really thinks about how the aliens are both taller than him, lean muscle with dark-hair, strong jawlines and Barlot has a blue stripe in the fluff of hair above his eyes while Salsadan moves like a dancer…
(Oh. Fuck.)
“Almost-Husband, Red? Wanna ‘splain that ta us?”“Your…friends need to follow planetary protocol for all aliens, Red Robin,” and Nightwing is standing with back straight and an impressive loom going on there. “They have to check-in with the JLA at the Watch Tower before coming on-world.”
“Oh! Our mistake,” Barlot flutters his eyes at them with a smirk, “perhaps Tim could come with us to check in so we will know proper procedure for next time.”
Which is absolutely a crock of shit.
And the Bats seem to pick-up on it, Hood taking him by the wrist, pulling him away in a move that is terribly possessive for someone he just, you know, fights crime with and shit.
“Ya already been visiting, asshole,” is low with the synths, “n’ we gotta date with our boy here. Earth business, s’ do me a solid an’ fuck off.”
Which will probably end with Hood and N trailing Red Robin back to his Perch when the sun is riding the sky in Gotham. The whole almost married thing will come out and probably spurn some terribly sweet scene with Jason and Dick pinning him down and demanding he say he’s theirs, not some alien fuckers, Timmers. We gotcha first.
Totally had dibs, Timmy.  So. Much. Dibs.
And something utterly insane is going to pop out of his kiss-swollen mouth, something he’s wanted for so fucking long–
“Prove it.”
**
WOW. That ah…that got long huh babe?

Talia had been surprised when her niece slipped into her office. She had smirked pleased with herself before opening the door and mocking the guards on the other side.
“You’re totally fired, you know? What if I had been an enemy? You would’ve been none the wiser and the Mistress would’ve been in danger.”
Not really, Talia did not get to where she was in life by being incompetent. Though that did not mean she did not see the wisdom in her nieces words.
“Jamila,” was all she had to say before her niece pulled back. She could feel the demon within laugh at the guard’s fear. She turned her attention to the two at the door, “Switch out with guard team Z23 and report back to the training grounds.”
After all, she wasn’t going to lose two perfectly capable assassins and extra training never hurt anyone. Jamila watched them walk away and her head tilted to the side as she listened to them repeat their given orders. Talia watched as Jamila calmly closed the door before moving towards the tea set.
She hummed silently to herself before signing off on the last report in front of her. She turned her full attention to her niece, because the gods of the old knew that Jamila only drunk tea when she had big news to share.
Talia accepted the tea quietly and watched as Jamila made herself comfortable. Her niece stared absently at one of the old drawings her father had hung up. For all that he was a monster, there had been a small part (as small as proton in an atom) that loved his grandchildren.
Jamila seemed to shake herself off before relaxing in the chair, “Mm, I see that you are renovating the compound.”
Talia quirked a brow before taking a sip of her tea, “Yes, I’ve gotten recommendations from our newest guests. They’ve agreed to help tighten up our security while we set them up in a nearby village.”
“Oh,” she perked up. “Have they chosen a name?”
Talia absently tapped her finger across the ceramic mug in her hands as she thought about the large group of people that had just suddenly appeared in the middle of the compound a few months ago. They had been good. Wonderful, and her people had been overwhelmed quickly. But Talia, Sandra, Anastasia, and Jamila wouldn’t be taking down so easily. They had learned quickly to not look in any of their eyes and she remembered the loud, creative threats that escaped Jamila’s mouth when one of their fireballs edged to close to her hair.
Talia and Anastasia quickly took on the leaders of the strange group whereas Sandra seemed to glow as she went against the one who could read her moves as good as she could read his. But it was Jamila who seemed to dance with delight with the boy who smiled every time one of their hits connected.
Talia had known from that one meeting that the two of them would cause problems. It had become even more apparent when she saw the jealously raising in the boy’s eyes when Jamila had been sneaking some of the girls from their group off to her bedchambers.
“Konohagkure,” she informed her niece. She watched the information pass quickly through her mind before she titled her head.
“Guess we’ll be seeing a lot of trees then,” she smirked. “It’s the only way that name is going to work.”
Talia inclined her head and watched her niece impassively as she fidgeted. “Tete Lia,” the girl whispered as she brought her knees up to her chest. Her eyes trailed over to the portrait that Talia had commissioned. A vision of what she had once hoped her family could look like. Her mother and father standing behind her proudly as Nyssa and Dusan stood at her sides. Jamila and Jason stood in front of them with their arms wrapped around Damian and Anastasia.
“Tete Lia,” she started again. “Why am I to be the Demon’s Head heiress?”
Talia inwardly startled. She had not had this conversation with her since Damian lost his right to it. “In terms of power and skill, you are the next liable choice. You have been raised within the compound and know the rules and laws of the Demon better than anyone else.”
Jamila only shook her head, “We both know that in terms of power and skill Jason is stronger and better than me. And besides, I committed treason when I killed grandfather.”
Talia took another sip of her tea, “While that may be true, only you and I know that you killed him. And do not put yourself down child, I have had a hand in training you myself. Your skilled is unrivaled and do not think I haven’t noticed you training with our newest guests.”
Or maybe one person in specific.
Jamila didn’t blush. She was too refined for that, but Talia knew her niece well and she saw the after effects in her eyes.
“I can’t be the heiress,” she mumbled as she ran her finger across the rim of her mug. Talia hummed.
“And why not?”
“I can’t be the heiress because I-… Because- “
She watched as Jamila took a deep breath before looking her in the eyes. She set her shoulders and placed her feet back on the ground. She looked ever much like an Heiress despite her current efforts to throw away the title.
“I cannot and will not be the Heiress to the title because…”
--
It wasn’t often that Talia thought about that night. She had listened with rapt attention to her niece’s argument. She listened quietly as she was given all the details that she needed before she gave in and removed her status as the heir.
Talia was in her office again going through her company’s papers. She decided that her newest guests had knowledge that would benefit her company greatly. Even now, with only a few of them joining in for the medical research, the company’s profit had skyrocketed.
She signed off on a few more papers before there was a knock on her door. She looked up as one of the guards opened the door with a bow, “Mistress, the Lady Shiva requests a visit.”
Talia waved her hand at her, “Let her in. In thirty minutes, I want you to switch with guard team I55 and continue helping the renovations.”
The guard bowed again before stepping to the side and letting in one of her dearest friends. Once the door closed, Sandra rose a brow at her before moving over to her alcohol cabinet.
“Sandra, it is eleven o’clock on a Wednesday morning. Why are you drinking?”
The One That is All only laughed lightly at her as she poured herself a drink, “Someone, somewhere, has just got married, and I am celebrating.” `
It took many years of practice to keep the amusement out of her face. She laughed lightly but accepted the drink that was handed to her. “Have you received any news about Jamila’s condition?”
Sandra sip at her drink, “Your little pet project found a way to combine their knowledge with our machines. They’ve managed to slow it down to the point that nothing looks out of order. And she’s threatened to rip their hearts out and eat it alongside her shokoladnaya-kartoshkas if they speak about it with anyone that doesn’t have her approval.”
Talia sighed heavily, “She won’t be able to keep it a secret long. She will eventually grow to weak to even move out her bed.”
Sandra huffed, “She is too stubborn for her own good, but I have heard rumors that she has been in an underground competition making a name for herself. She is close to winning the competition and has billions of dollars betted on her every night. I doubt she wants to give up when she’s so close to her goal. Not to mention, her determination to bring back things of interest for your guests.”
Talia hummed, “It will not be long before she manages to slip some of them off into the night with her and show them the world. I will not fault her when she does. I just wish she took more precautions as she deteriorates even further.”
Sandra agreed absently before turning her attention back to her fellow assassin. “Have you decided on who to make the newest heir?”
Talia paused before downing the alcohol and letting it burn through her throat. “Yes, the only question is how am I going to get them to accept it?”
Sandra nodded, “Its better to ask for forgiveness than permission in some cases. Spring it on them when they least expect it and watch them flail as they try to ignore their fate.”
Talia smirked, “Speaking from experience, I presume.” Sandra laughed lightly before nodding her head, “Though at the rate Cassandra is going, I might have to convince Weasel to be the one to give me peace.”
“Mm. I would have thought that you preferred Jamila’s, well friend is too nice of a word, but her friend to take you out.”
Sandra snorted, “I asked him would he. Questioned if he had the skill. He looked me in the eyes without that damn red glint and told me that killing me would only make Jamila kill him. He’s determined to have her fall in love with him though.”
“If only he knew that she already was… though I can understand his confusion. Jamila has been taken to be with more females lately.”
Sandra nodded her head, “I guess I can understand the appeal. A woman’s touch is better than a man’s any day. And her conditions continue on, she’d want all the comfort she can get.”
“That does sound like her. I wonder how she plans to tell Jason. The two of them are rather close.”
“Probably the same way she told him that she was the heir.”
The two women laughed lightly, “By not telling him at all.”
Sandra tapped her finger against the glass in her hand, “Jason would do good as the Heir. He might bring some joy back to the League and I may rejoin again under the new direction he would surely take it.”
“He is my main choice, but I didn’t want to make any decisions until I received word about my nephew’s progress. Just because Nyssa has been exiled from the League doesn’t make him not a worthy contender.”
“So, it is out the two of them?”
Talia nodded her head surely, “Yes, we will see who proves the better choice.”
--
Talia stood before the various clans that made up the League. They all watch her with attentive eyes, and she sees the council sit in front of her with pride. It was time for her to announce her heir and they knew she wouldn’t make this choice without careful consideration. They had all been distraught when they learned that Jamila hadn’t wanted the title but with a small overview of her condition and all that would happen surrounding it… they made peace.
She stepped into the ring of truth and watched impassively as one of her guards lit the flames.
“I stand before you all today as the Demon Head… as Talia Al Ghul, daughter of Ra Al Ghul.”
The flames burned green at the truth of her words.
“A year ago, I stood before you all and announced that the Beautiful One… our Hope was to be the Demon Head’s Heiress. I stand before you now to tell you that it was no longer true.”
The green in the flames held steady.
“Today, I name a new heir. One that has proven themselves to our organization time and time again. They are a strong warrior whose loyalty is a jewel to be cherished.”
The flames tint blue with the pride in her voice.
“Hear the call of the ancestors. Of all the points of contact. Calling on all the strength from the Al Ghul Line. I hereby claim my son, Jason Peter Todd-Al Ghul as my heir.”
Green for truth. Blue for pride. Red for the blood connection.
Cheers erupt from the warriors surrounding her. Talia is smiling as she looked upon them.
An arrow whistles through the air and impales itself in front of her. The fire is immediately put out and everyone is at edge. Some of her guards immediately break away heading in the direction that the arrow came from while the others direct the children and those with child to the safe rooms.
Talia is following them, and she absently notes when Sandra and Ubu fall in line beside her. Swords appear in their hands. Sandra passes her a spare Tantō and Ubu passes her a gun.
They follow the sound of fighting and immediately join in once it becomes clear just who their enemies were. Her sister’s guards and mercenaries that were exiled alongside her. Ubu and Sandra cut a clean escape for her towards the center where her sister’s stands enjoying the chaos.
“Nyssa,” she nearly growls. “What is the meaning of this?”
She sees the rage that overtakes her sister and the two of them clash right in the middle. She is thankful for the lessons she has taken with the people of Konohagkure. It makes her fighting style unpredictable and she’s quickly pushing her sister back.
“You spit on the name of our father. How dare you throw his beliefs for such false love? That boy is not an Al Ghul. He is a False Heir no matter what you proclaim.”
Talia snarls in anger and she can feel Lazarus breaking free from her control. The world tinges green and now she fights with the intent to kill. “You will not speak of my son in such a manner. Throw away Father’s belief? Impossible. You’re still exiled, aren’t you?”’
She watches with a sharp smile as her sister lets go of her own inner demon and tries to kill her. She knows that she will not succeed. She will not catch Talia off guard. Not this time. She was not weak.
The two of them continue their fight when Nyssa steps back suddenly as one of her underlings enters Talia’s peripheral. She shoots him dead before focusing back on Nyssa.
It had to be the thought of the vengeance being the only reason she didn’t notice the kunai being thrown at her. It plunges itself in her shoulder and she viscously yank it out before continuing towards her sister.
But strangely, Nyssa isn’t trying to fight her anymore.
Something was wrong.
“Fall back,” she says, and her voice sounds wrong. Nyssa is coming towards her. A smoke bomb is thrown between the two of them and suddenly Ubu and Sandra are carrying her away.
She blinks and the world seems larger.
She blinks and she doesn’t know what’s going on.
She blinks and she slips into sleep.
And when her eyes open, she stares at a man with jewel like eyes and a patch in his head like Father’s.
She is told that he is the Demon Head’s Heir.
He is her brother.
He is Jason.
--
Talia is a child and she’s watching as the girl with the white strip in her hair seems to command the room. She had watched as the girl relied heavily on Jason and rarely left his side. She wondered if she was his lover.
But that wouldn’t make sense. Why would the girl claim to be her niece if she was her brother’s lover?
The girl was strange, and she was hiding something. Talia could tell just from the way the girl twitch with every move. She watches how the girl looked down on Damian, but there had been a twinkle in her eye.
The Grandfather had taken her from the room earlier but that didn’t stop her from coming back and peeking. Her interest had reached a all time high when more people entered the room.
Talia saw how the girl seemed to stiffen before casually moving away and out of reach. A part of her seemed to scream for Jason but a larger part of her seemed to wear a mask even her father couldn’t pierce.
Talia watches how the new people seemed to move and create a shield around Jason. She wonders if they are Jason’s guards. She wanted to know where they had been. Jason was the Heir! His guards were to be with him at all times in case of an attack.
It’s the smell of baked goods that draws her attention away from them. She turns and leaves and makes her way back to the Grandfather.
He smiles gently at her and hands her a baked biscuit with chocolate inside of it. She had never tasted such treats before being brought into Jason’s care. She wonders if Father would be mad with the way she is being treated when he comes back for her.
She didn’t think she wanted to leave.
--
Her eyes blink open afterwards and she takes notice of the cloth covering her body. She had fallen asleep in front of the magical screen with all the different colors.
Talia sits up slowly and she notices that she had been brought back down in the big room. Jason called it the cave. It had been a week since the first night all the new people had showed up.
Jason had taken her to a new place to reside in. His guard squad was always there alongside Jason’s lover? The two females who hair was as bright as the flames in the night took to sparring with her. They laughed and cheered her own and whenever she messed up a move, they talked her through it instead of slapping her down.
His other friend with eyes the same color as hers and with hair as fiery as the women gifts her with a bow and arrow. He is good but she is better. She can sense an inner turmoil in him. A grief that wraps around and seems to suffocate his whole being. She tends to cuddle into his side, and he tells her stories of his adventures with Jason.
The big one with the letter on his chest tends to watch the magical screen with her. He brings out needles and Talia wonders if this will be the day, he stabs her. Instead he begins to weave colorful cloths and clothing and teaches her when he catches her looking.
Jason’s lover keeps her distance, but she doesn’t let Talia out her sight. She had a darkness to her too that spilled out whenever Damian’s guards got to close to her. Talia thinks she says the one named Grayson is a Blue Idiot? Her dagger is always out when he or the redhead in moving throne near her.
Talia moves from her spot and heads in the direction that she can hear Jason in. He brought another friend. His clothes were covered in colors and he had a glowing ring on his hand. She wonders if he somehow managed to trap the waters of her father’s pit into it.
There was another there. He was short and his voice was rough but sounded as alluring as her father’s. She wondered what he was there for.
She wrapped her arms around Jason’s legs, and he paused. He looked at her before they all continued to talk. She tuned them out though as sleep still clung to her mind.
She’s being moved from Jason to someone else and her eyes open to see that the Blue Idiot is holding her. Well he is holding her as if she was a poison sword that would kill her with one move. A breeze enters the room and she gasp as she feels a pain attack her.
Her eyes water as it gets stronger before the Blue Idiot is carrying her away. The further she goes the less pain she feels but it’s still there and its hurts.
Makeitsstop. Makeitsstop. Makeitsstop. Makeitsstop. Makeitsstop.
He lays her down as the pain begins to recede and the breeze begins to go away. It doesn’t take long for Jason’s lover to appear. She has blood trailing from her eyes and mouth, but she sees snarling at the Blue Idiot. He scowls back at her, but he doesn’t say anything as she moves closer. She wipes at her face before grabbing another piece of cloth and wiping at Talia’s face. She startles as the cloth comes back red and her hand reaches for her own face.
Jason’s lover smiles sadly at her before covering her and stepping away. A green tint takes over the area surrounding Talia and she’s confused.
Something is thrown near her and there is something in the air that makes her head hurts again. She takes a deep breath to push through the pain.
Talia feels something happening. She doesn’t know what.
And then—
She screams.
--
It had felt like coming from a dream. Then again, she had felt like she had been drugged and Talia was slightly pissed. It took a lot to drug her as the pit waters in her blood tended to wash it away.
She opened her eyes to green surrounding her and she paused to wonder if she had died. Talia hasn’t been in the pit for years. Not since she lowered Jason into anyway. She pushes her body up slowly and that’s when she notices the cover that covers her body.
Hm. Whoever had taken her robbed her of her clothing. She will kill them all. No one has the privilege to see her bare skin unless she allows them to. And she did not allow this.
Her eyes take stock of where she is, but she can only see green. She felt caged in a way not unlike her father had her. Her eyes narrow with rage and she feels the beast within in her scream for freedom.
She hears feet entering the room where she’s been held captive. Her eyes narrow when she hears someone laugh awkwardly before the green fades from around her. Her eyes slowly adjust to the now darken area. She feels the slight chill on her skin before a blur ram into her.
“Kalh,” she hears, and her hands freeze from where they had been ready to land a deadly blow. Talia pulls the body away from her slowly and she takes in the sight of her niece. She sees someone move closer and her heart stutters at the sight of her oldest son.
“T,” and he says it like a prayer. There were tears in their eyes and Talia closes her own briefly. Her mind pulses as new memories slot themselves in place. Pieces of her childhood that had not been there before overlapping the horror that she could remember.
Her voice was rough from the lack of use, “My loves.” She watches as they let their tears spill and her soul sings. Lazarus purrs with content. They clutch her as if she were their lifeline and that’s when she hears a small voice coming from behind them.
“Mother.”
And her heart stops. She can hear the heart monitor begin to beep erratically but her senses… her sense of being is only focused on her child. Her son. Her heart. “Damian,” and his name sound like blessings of the gods of the old. He steps forward hesitantly, and she takes no notice of her bruised muscles or the way Jason and Jamila help her sit up more. She reaches her hand out and wonders if he would turn away from her now. Would he turn his back on her when she was at her lowest?
He doesn’t. He places his hand in hers and she can her a past version of herself crying and screaming in rage. He was too young for his hands to be so callous. Her baby boy. She had done so wrong by him.
He climbs onto the bed and he pauses as he stares at her. It was too her shock that sob escapes him and he’s throwing himself into her embrace.
She hugs him tightly and vows to not let go. The Precious One loved her children dearly and had taken to becoming the Mother of the young ones in the compound.
She unfurls on her arms from around Damian and she reaches for her older son. He falls into her embrace easily. She angles her body into something more welcoming and Jamila instantly presses against her. She places a kiss in the girl’s hair.
“I love you all. I love you.”
And nothing had ever tasted so purer.

Car Hop (Kevin Keller x Male! Jughead’s Brother! Reader)
Word Count:1,799
Tumblr media
Kevin Keller was your everything. To him, you weren’t Jughead’s brother or Archie Andrews’ other best friend, you were you: someone who he loved so much that it hurt. Kevin had no problem showing anybody that he loved you, and that’s why you had to get him a promise ring. You had every intention of marrying Kevin Keller, and you wanted him to know that.
Unfortunately, you were a bit tight on money. You had taken a job at Pop’s to earn some extra cash. You hadn’t told your brother or his friends because they were the worst when it came to keeping a secret. They thought that just because they got away with a few things meant that they were amazing liars. The only one who even held up a chance at keeping a secret was Cheryl.
Tonight was going to be your last night working at the diner, but you loved this job. It paid decently, and skating was fun. Plus, it didn’t hurt that you got free milkshakes.
“Y/N is-” Kevin started. The gang groaned. They knew what he was going to say. Kevin gushed about his boyfriend at every chance he could, and each time he’d start, it got more descriptive.
“Yeah, Kevin. Y/N is so sweet and sooo hot. He’s amazing, and nobody will ever treat me better than he does. He’s too good for me. The little dips on his chest make me want to melt,” Cheryl said, rolling her eyes. Kevin pressed his hand to his chest and pursed his lips, clearly offended.
“I was trying to say that Y/N won’t be able to make it tonight because he has homework to do,” Kevin said. He flipped off the amused eyes of everybody in the room.
“Hey, what’s up with that?” Jughead asked. His brother had been skipping out on every plan they’ve made within the last month. It wasn’t like him to cancel out like that.
Kevin shrugged. He thought nothing of it. Your last days at Riverdale High School were rapidly approaching, and you had yet to choose a college. Throughout most of your time in school, you didn’t focus much on grades but focused on your brother and Kevin. However, you knew that your grades were the one thing that would get you and your friends out of Riverdale, so you spent many weekends studying instead of getting caught up in the town’s drama.
“You know, he has been acting a little suspicious lately,” Betty said.
“His car wasn’t in the driveway when I left,” Jughead piped up.
“Okay,” Kevin said. “Are you guys trying to convince me that my amazing and wonderful boyfriend is up to no good?”
The Northside gang looked at each other, glints in their eyes. Kevin groaned. He hated when they had ideas. Their ideas always led to laws being broken or immediate danger. Most times it was both.
“We’re not saying that he’s cheating on you, but-” Veronica started.
“No.” Kevin glared at them. “There’s no way that he’d ever do that. Don’t even suggest it.”
“But he’s probably doing something stupid and illegal,” Jughead said. Everyone looked at him, a bit shocked. Jughead and his brother were tightly knit, and out of the two of them, Jughead was the more mischievous brother. “What? Just ‘cause he’s the good child doesn’t mean he isn’t a Jones. The Jones’ are always up to something. Always.”
Kevin sighed. Before he could speak, Cheryl pitched in. “I already texted Toni to see if any of the Serpents have seen Y/N. And look! I’ve got an answer.”
It was too late to back down now. Everyone was already deeply invested in this, including Kevin.
“What the fuck? Is that Joaquin?” Archie asked, squinting to make out the low quality picture. You and Joquain were sitting together in the corner of the Whyte Wyrm, and your faced was scrunched up. It must’ve been pretty serious.
Whenever Kevin talked about Joaquin, he could never look you in the eyes. Instead, he focused his attention on his shoes and unconsciously tapped his fingers against his thigh. He would sigh and take your hands in his. It broke your heart to see a usually confident person so vulnerable and frankly a little heartbroken. You never got angry at him even though he was still hung up on his last break up. Instead, you held him and peppered kisses to his face because you wanted him to know that you weren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
“Guys,” Kevin said. They looked at Kevin, waiting for him to wave it off as nothing, but he didn’t. “You now what this means, right? We have to go to the Whyte Wyrm right now.”
They smiled at him, knowing that he would come around. Quickly, the gang all piled into Cheryl’s car with Archie sitting in the trunk and drove to the southside.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Where is he?” Kevin asked, grabbing Fangs by the collar of his shirt. Their noses were touching, and Fangs began to sweat. He wasn’t supposed to reveal anything about your plan, and if he did, he’d probably end up like Jason Blossom.
“Where is who?” Sweet Pea asked innocently. He was slightly amused because he knew Kevin meant no real harm.
“You know who,” Veronica spat. “Y/N.”
“How daring for a Lodge to be here at this time of day,” Fangs said, avoiding eye contact with Kevin, though it was nearly impossible.
“He said something about the sheriff,” Toni said. Sweet Pea and Fangs shot her a look, but she paid no mind to it. “I don’t know what Y/N has in store, but if it involves the sheriff, then it must be something really illegal or dangerous.”
“Thanks, babe,” Cheryl said, pressing a kiss to Toni’s cheek before they departed.
“What?” Toni said. Fangs was looking at her incredulously. Was she afraid of anything?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Heyyyyyyy, dad,” Kevin said, stumbling into his office. Sheriff Keller stared as his son and his nosy friends all clambered into his office. Knowing them, they were most likely getting into business they didn’t need to be involved in.
“What is it?” Sheriff Keller replied gruffly.
“Have you seen Y/N by any chance?” Archie asked, trying to be nonchalant about it. He was leaning against a filing cabinet and lost his balance, falling and taking a whole drawer of files down with him.
“No, I haven’t,” the older man sighed. “Andrews, will you please stop trying to destroy everything?”
“Officer Keller, please,” Jughead said. “We’re afraid that my brother may be getting into something that could get him killed. We just want to know that he’s safe.”
The older Keller recognized when he was being played, and Jughead Jones had just pulled the sibling card on him. Unfortunately, he didn’t want to wait all night to keep them away because now he had a case to solve and a filing cabinet to rearrange.
“I assure you that whatever Y/N is doing is perfectly safe. Now, please, go to Pop’s and get a burger or something. You can’t cause trouble if you’re eating,” Sheriff Keller said, subtly hinting at your location.
“Fine,” Kevin huffed.
“What am I going to do with him?” Officer Keller said, rolling his eyes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I’m starving,” Archie complained. “Can we actually go to Pop’s?”
“When are you not hungry, Andrews?” Cheryl said, glancing at him in the mirror. “Alright, we’ll go. I’ve been craving a strawberry milkshake anyways.”
It was almost midnight by the time they arrived at the diner, so they called in their orders and waited for someone to come out.
You yawned, happy that your shift was almost over. You would be able to cuddle with Kevin and sleep for a few hours before beginning your next shift. Right as you were about to leave, Pop Tate whipped up the food and put in a bag for you to bring to the customers.
You skated out to the parking lot, not paying attention to whose car it was and knocked on the window. You began to repeat their order to confirm if it was correct when you were interrupted.
“Y/N?” Betty said. You snapped your head up from the receipt.
“Uhhhhhhh,” you said. You were at a loss for words. “Double cheeseburger with three strawberry milkshakes and two orders of fries?”
“Since when do you work at Pop’s?” Kevin asked.
“Hey! Kevin!” you exclaimed. There was no use in denying it now. You had been all over town, trying to make sure that the ring you had in your pocket was perfect. Even though you had a slight grudge against Joaquin, he was really close to Kevin, and he would know if this was right for him. You knew that Kevin’s dad loved you as if you were his own son, and he respected you more when you asked his permission to give Kevin a promise ring. “Baby, can you get out of the car for a second? I need to talk to you.”
Kevin dreaded this moment. He knew that your relationship was too good to be true. You would leave him like Joaquin. Wait, were you going to leave with Joaquin? Although he was internally panicking, he kept a blank face as he stepped out of the car.
You got down on one knee, bringing the jewelry box out.
“Holy shit,” you heard your brother mutter.
“Kevin Keller. I love you so, so much. You are the light of my life, and everyday, I find something new about you that makes me fall more in love. Your eyes sparkle brighter than any star, your lips are softer than any flower petal. You’re so confident and sarcastic and amazing. I know that we’re too young to get married now, but I promise you that one day, Kevin Keller will become Kevin Jones. So. . . .” you trailed off, not knowing how to end it. Your heart was close to jumping out of your chest as you waiting for Kevin’s reply.
“God dammit, Y/N,” Kevin sobbed out. How could he have ever thought you were going to leave him?
You panicked, scrambling to get off of your knee, but Kevin wouldn’t let you. He took you in his arms and buried his face into the crown of your head.
“Yes,” he said, through his tears. “I love you, my handsome Prince.”
The gang cheered as you two kissed. Sliding the ring on his finger, you lifted him off the ground without separating and carried him to your car. You were going home to sleep with your future husband.
Bonus:
“Uh, guys?” Archie asked, still in the trunk. “Don’t get me wrong, this is touching and everything, but I’m still pretty hungry.”

Just Be Careful
By: SassyShoulderAngel319
Fandom/Character(s): DC, BatFam - Jason Todd/Red Hood, feat. Dick Grayson/Nightwing
Rating: PG-13/T (for themes of cheating)
Original Idea: This song and a shoutout to @welovegroot for helping me out when I got stuck!
Notes: (Masterlist)(By Character)(About Me) I’m not terribly inclined to believe any of the Batboys are cheaters, but, y’know, welovegroot loves it when I write drama so... here’s some more!
^^^^^
“Starbeam!” I called to my little sister as she skipped down the hallway like she was walking on Cloud Nine. She stopped and spun around to look at me, a huge smile on her face. “What’s goin’ on, kiddo? You seem really happy.”
She beamed even brighter. “Jason and I are dating now!” she exclaimed, throwing her arms around me.
I smiled, excited—before a dark feeling wrapped around my heart. Profound worry. “That’s great, kiddo,” I said. “But… be careful, okay? Jason’s a survivor.”
“Oh don’t be such a stick-in-the-mud, Starlight!”
“Sorry. I just want you to be careful. I hope you two are happy together.”
“We will be!” she replied brightly before letting me go and skipping back down the hallway.
I watched her go, my expression falling.
Dick wrapped his arm around my shoulders, appearing from nowhere. “What’s up with her?” he asked when she was out of earshot.
“She and Jason… are dating,” I said.
“How cute. They’ve been crushing on each other for like a year now. Wait. Why do you look so worried?”
I sighed. “Starbeam is optimistic. But it borders on naïve. I just… her parents took me in after my parents kicked me out for being a metahuman. She’s my little sister. I don’t want her to get her heart broken.” Down the hall, she went spinning around a corner and disappeared.
“They’ll be fine. They’re twenty—plenty old enough to figure things out.”
“I wish I had your confidence,” I muttered.
“C’mon, babe. You and I have been together since we were eighteen. Everyone else is surprised that we’ve lasted for four years. Jay and Tal will be fine,” Dick said, kissing my temple.
I stared at where my sister disappeared. “I hope you’re right, Nightwing.”
^^^^^
One Year Later…
^^^^^
Ding-dong!
“Babe can you grab the door?” I called to Dick. “My hands are sopping wet!”
“What are you doing?” Dick asked as he got up from the living room where he’d been working for an hour.
“Dishes. The dishwasher didn’t want to get these plates clean,” I replied.
Dick chuckled as he opened the door. “Starbeam! Hey kiddo. What’s… wrong?”
I turned in time to see my younger sister push past Dick. “Sorry. I need to talk to Starlight. Now,” she said, voice thick with emotion. Her eyes were red and puffy and her cheeks were streaked with tears.
I dropped the scrub brush I was holding, wiped my hands off on the back of my shirt, and immediately wrapped her in a hug. “C’mere sweetheart,” I said, stroking her hair. Dick nodded at me over the top of her head. I nodded back and guided her gently into my and Dick’s room, easing her down onto the bed and then pulling her onto my lap when I sat down. She sobbed, clinging to the back of my T-shirt’s shoulders with hands balled into fists. “What’s wrong? What happened?”
“Jay. He… he cheated,” she said, breath hitching in her throat.
I pulled my sister tighter to my chest, holding her as close as possible. “Oh Starry. I am so, so sorry.”
She sniffled, squeezing closer to me too. “You were… you were right. You told me to be careful. I didn’t listen.” She had to take a moment to breathe past her crying. “I thought… you and Dick are so cute and so in love and I shipped Nightlight before it even had a name and I thought… I thought me and Jason could be… the same.”
“No two loves are the same,” I said. “You and Jason could never be exactly like me and Dick. And I was grateful for that. Because you two could learn from our mistakes.”
“Has Dick ever cheated on you?”
“No. He was quite the flirt and the ladies’ man before we got together, but once we were exclusive, he was mine. And I was his.”
“Jason’s not like Dick,” Starbeam muttered.
“They’re more similar than you might think, actually. Dick’s bright personality just outshines the rest. I’ve seen his dark side. There’s nothing scarier than the anger of a good man. Jason is the same. I remember when I first met him. I knew something resonated between him and Dick.”
“Dick’s not a cheater though.”
“No,” I agreed. “And I am so sorry this had to happen to you. You wanna tell me more?”
“I… his phone went off with the ringtone he uses for Bruce so he knows it’s probably urgent. He was in the other room so I thought I’d grab it and see what Bruce wanted. In case we both needed to go, y’know? And he had another text below it that I hadn’t heard. Some unknown number saying ‘Thanks for the other night.’ So, naturally, I asked him what that was about. He tried to lie to me, Starlight. He said he helped someone out and that was it. But why would he give them his number? And why was there a winking face with it? And why hadn’t I heard it?” She sniffed. “When I pressed it, he got defensive. When I asked if he cheated, he didn’t outright deny it. He talked around it.”
“Starbeam,” I said, holding her tight. “Did he outright admit to it?”
“After a minute. Yeah.”
“Was there any spleen crushing involved?”
“You know I wouldn’t use my powers like that, Starlight,” Starbeam muttered. “I just asked him if it was another woman. He… he finally said it was. But that it ‘wasn’t like that at all.’ That he still loved me.”
“What did you say?”
“Nothing. I left. Came straight here.”
“I'm sorry, kiddo. You wanna stay here for a couple days?”
“No. No thanks. You and Dick just got married. You need your alone time. I need… I need to get out of here. Away from the mountain, away from the manor. Away from this life. But just for a little bit. I'm not abandoning Starbeam I just… I need some time to be Tally for a while.”
I nodded. “I understand. Just know that you’re always welcome here.”
“I know. I just gotta go find somewhere to exist that won’t hurt until the hurt goes away.”
I stroked her hair. “I get it. Just be careful, okay?”
“You told me that once. Last year. I didn’t listen then. But… you’re wiser than me. And I'm not going to make that mistake again. I promise. I will be careful.”
“Thatta girl,” I said.
She sniffed. “Thanks for listening, Starlight.”
Dick knocked on the door. “What’s goin’ on?” he asked gently.
I quietly explained the situation to him while still holding Starbeam in my lap, watching his expression darken and grow more and more livid the entire time. It didn’t take long to summarize so he went from zero to sixty in about a minute-and-a-half.
I set my sister on the bed next to me and got up. “Tally, sweetheart, I'm gonna make you something warm to drink, okay? Be right back. Stay here.”
She sniffed. “Okay,” she muttered, curled up on herself.
I stepped out of the bedroom with Dick and started to make some hot cocoa—her favorite.
“I cannot believe Jason!” Dick growled through clenched teeth, trying to be quiet for the sake of my sobbing sister in our bedroom. “How could he even think of cheating on Tally? She’s one of the sweetest girls on the planet who would never even imagine doing the same to him!” He held the edge of the counter so tight his knuckles were turning white.

Jason slid the window of Mr. and Mrs. Grayson’s apartment living room open silently, poking his head in, intending to look for Tally and maybe apologize—if she’d even let him. The newlyweds were at the kitchen counter, but neither had noticed him. Dick’s back was to him and his wife’s vision was blocked by Dick. He could hear Dick angrily muttering to his wife.
They definitely knew. Starbeam must have come here after she ran out on him in tears.
“—supposed to be a good kid! He always seemed like the type who wouldn’t… argh!” Dick was saying. “I really oughtta go punch him right in the face for hurting her. She felt like a little sister to me since before you and I got married. How dare he break her heart?!”
“Dick,” Starlight—Parker—warned gently. “He’s still your brother. And he’s gone through a lot.”
“That doesn’t give him permission to pull a stunt like this!”
Jason pulled his head out of the apartment and pressed himself against the wall outside, still listening in. Eavesdroppers never heard anything they wanted to hear, and he definitely wasn’t, but he had to hear this.
Parker sighed. “Let me bring Tally out here so she can have her drink.”
There was a long silence. Then he heard the distinct sound of Tally sniffling. “—can’t figure out why he would… who he would even…” she was trying to say.
“It’s okay, kiddo,” Parker said soothingly. “I know it hurts. And I know it sucks. Just let yourself cry. It’s okay.”
“Who would he love more than me? Am I not good enough? Am I not… enough?” Tally sobbed.
Jason’s heart wrenched. Idiot, Todd. Idiot, he thought. You certainly have a knack for destroying your own life.
“Don’t you dare think that,” Dick said. “This is not your fault. It is not because of you. This is Jason’s fault, and Jason’s alone.” As much as Jason’s pride winced at those words, he knew they were true. This was all his fault.
“I… I'm never going to be like you guys, am I?” Starbeam asked with a quiver in her voice.
“What do you mean?” Parker replied.
“I… I'm never going to find love.”
“I am going to destroy Jason for breaking her heart so bad that she actually believes what she’s saying,” Dick muttered. He sounded like he was standing next to the window with his arms folded and his glare trained far away from the girls and quiet enough that they wouldn’t hear him, but Jason could. “Coward. Cowards cheat.”
Jason couldn’t take it anymore. He couldn’t bear to listen to the conversation in the apartment. Taking a single step, he leapt off the fire escape.
Dick was right. He was a coward for cheating on her.

First Chapter (Prologue): here
Previous Chapter: here
It had been long enough since Jason had inadvertently betrayed them and or (depending on the point of view) accidentally brought their father down on them, that the wounds had healed over. When Jason and Nico came back in, Percy stumbled to his feet and launched himself at Jason, giving his friend a huge hug. Nico stayed just out of arms length - Percy drunk was a lethal combination of absolutely no coordination and no sense of strength and Nico had come close to death by strangulation more than once. Jason, pretty used to handling Percy drunk extradited himself with ease, and let Percy pull him back into the party circle.
"You're late Jason," Percy complained. "Like really late."
"I know," Jason said. "There was traffic. And I had to pick a couple of people up."
Nico turned rapidly to Jason, alarmed by the "couple". Who else was Jason hiding? Nico couldn't take any more surprises. It had to be bad for his health. Could he get Will to write him a note somehow? Dear universe, Nico has been through a lot so please excuse him from further surprises or other unpleasantness. Thanks (soon-ish to be) Doctor Solace.
The universe probably wouldn't pay the slightest bit of attention.
Nico was frowning at Jason trying to silently interrogate him on who this mysterious other person was, and if were any more sudden siblings Nico hadn't known about or seen in years he really would scream. Percy missed the entire thing, Jason just looked confused.
Nico's worries were assuaged anyway, when the door banged open and Leo appeared, blowing a party tooter.
"You can start the party now!" he called cheerily. "I am here!"
Leo was attacked in a death hug that nearly had the two of them on the floor.
"I thought you couldn't make it!" Percy was saying.
"Wouldn't miss this," Leo was saying. "Ooh are we playing games?"
Leo and Percy went back to the circle, Leo grabbed a shot from the bar on the way.
"How do you not drink at these things?" Nico demanded. "It's so stressful."
Jason gave him a wry smile.
"No more so than usual with you lot around," he commented. "Besides you can drink. Nothing stopping you. I honestly thought you'd be out of it by now, telling me all about the benefits of nihilism and orange juice or something."
Nico crossed his arms.
"I don't do that," he said.
"Uh-huh," Jason said.
"You know it must be nearly time to meet the girls," Jason continued, completely ignoring Nico’s glares to glance at his watch. Then he frowned distractedly.
"Hey," he said. "Where's Will?"
"Had to pick up a secret brother," Nico said. "He'll be here soon."
"Nico -" Jason began warningly, but Nico cut him off with a wave of his hand.
"I'm not over-thinking," he said.
"I'm not," he added when Jason seemed unconvinced. "I promised Reyna after all not to be a moron in relationships."
"So you'll listen to her?"
Nico scowled.
"I listen to you all the time. Like when you convinced me my boyfriend was a spy -"
Jason held up his hands in defeat and acceptance.
"Only for Russia and even then only at weekends," a familiar voice said. "Hey Jason."
"Hi Will," Jason said. "Will you tell Nico to stop-overthinking and start drinking?"
Will gave Nico a smirky kind of grin. He was stunning of course, but far from bowling him over like it used to it drew an internal eye roll. And okay maybe a small observation about how the colour of his smart-casual shirt really drew out the colour of his eyes. But over-all he was completely jaded to Will's superficial beauty.
"Go get drunk babe," Will said. Pet names and smirks were Will's weapons of choice in sarcasm and arguments and it was unfair they were so effective.
"Why are you still not drunk?" Will continued. "Have you not been to one of these before?  Do you need me to explain what a stag do is for? Because they seem to be largely for getting everyone really drunk."
Nico stared at him.
"Why don't you tell Jason about the text you got from Luke, honey."
Will's smirk flickered back but then he looked more serious.
"Luke," Jason asked. "You've heard from Luke?"
"Only to say someone called Thalia is in trouble."
Jason went kind of pale, eyes flashing to the door as though he could see into the foyer beyond. Nico nudged Will pointedly.
"Thalia's his sister," he explained in a stage whisper.
Will closed his eyes.
"Well you might have mentioned that before, sweetie, in which case I might have been a bit more gentle with that news."
"It's fine," Jason said though he didn't sound especially fine. He sounded tired, even more tired than he'd been over the last month. "I'm fine. I guessed it must have been something bad. Thalia doesn't usually fall apart like that."
"No," Nico agreed with only a little sulleness. "She gets mad not sad. Anyway you can appreciate why I'm currently still alarmingly sober."
Will gave him an understanding smile.
"When do the girls get here?" he asked Jason, and how did Will know more details about this party than Nico? Were his boyfriend and best friend in cahoots now? Nico wasn't sure he liked that. Next they'd be ganging up on him about his relationship with vegetables or something.
"Any minute," Jason said, glancing at his watch again.
"Percy seems to be having fun at least," Will commented. "Why are all the shots blue?"
"Don't ask," Nico said.
Wil raised an eyebrow.
"Okay well, I don't mean to be insensitive but Luke's message didn't make it seem like danger was imminent. And Percy has been gesturing to us to go over for the last like minute so maybe we should act like we want to be here not aiming that at anyone specific but certain people here have expressions more suitable for a funeral. Not everyone. Certain people. It looks great on you, Love but maybe not the most appropriate."
Nico hit him in the arm, but he had a point. This was Percy's night.
Nico let him and Jason pull him down to where Percy and the others were still playing Percy or Annabeth.
"Last question," Connor called. "And the newcomers and party poopers - looking at you Nico - can join in on this one. Jason I know you don't drink so we got you some blue Gatorade."
"Thanks," Jason said. "I think.”
"Right for the win, who does Annabeth think is the most irresponsible?"
No one even bothered writing.
"Percy!" everyone chorused.
"Hey," Percy protested, but then he shrugged.
"Yeah," he said. "Okay."
The games over, Leo cranked up the sound on the speakers.
"Let's hit some pinatas!" he yelled.
If his self from a year ago had been told that one day he'd be having fun at Percy's stag do for a marriage that wasn't to him, with a boyfriend in tow there was no way he'd ever have believed it. Things had changed a lot, but maybe they were for the better. Mostly for the better anyway.
Will had glitter on his cheeks and in his hair from the pinatas. He presented Nico with a small packet of haribo. It was largely made up of rings.
"Are you proposing?" Nico asked as he took them. He was sitting up on the bar refusing to dance, and Will was in front of him dancing distractedly as he tried to convince Nico dancing would be fun. Leo had put the playlist together and some of the songs made Nico frown slightly but Will had professed that Leo had good taste which was practically grounds for divorce.
"Proposing?" Will asked, sounding innocently surprised. "So early into the relationship? We have to write letters to each other for at least another two weeks and then you'd have to ask my papa's permission."
"Oh shut up you southern belle," Nico said. "And you don't even know who your papa is."
Will put a hand to his heart, mortally offended.
"How could you say such a thing?" he asked, teasing and over-dramatic. "At least my father is not a criminal overlord."
"That is a very good point my dear," Nico said with a straight face. "But then at least I didn't actively work for him."
Will laughed.
"Come on," he said. "Come dance."
Nico sighed but he actually recognised the song, and Will was so pretty under the flashing lights, glitter sticking to his cheeks like extra stars in the constellations already clustering his face. He slipped down off the bar, bringing a shot with him, letting Will pull him onto the dance floor.
"So what's this one?" he asked.
"Huh?"
"The song?"
"I thought you knew it," Will said. "You started dancing the second it came on."
"That's a lie your honour," Nico said automatically. "Besides you can know a song without knowing the name."
Will shrugged an acquiesce at that. Before he could answer, however, the door burst open and Piper appeared.
"We're here!" she called. She had on a pretty top and a nice pair of shorts over which she wore huge underwear emblazoned with a generic superhero symbol. She had a cowgirl hat all neon pink and bright splotches of cow print lopsided on her head.
"Looks like the girls have been having fun," Will commented wryly. Nico smirked. He'd been around a drunk Piper only once but it had been an experience. He thought the drunk men she'd been hustling drinks out of at the bar were going to kill her when they finally caught on to the fact she was playing them.
"Don't make or take any bets around her," he warned.
Annabeth appeared in the doorway next, a princess crown and veil placed on her head equally lopsided.
"Percy!" she yelled. "Look who's here."
Thalia was close behind, smudgy make up still smudged, hair still ruffled but looking festive in a bright blue feather boa Annabeth had wrapped around her shoulders. Nico might not have gotten on particularly well with her but the glee with which Annabeth introduced her friend made Nico kind of glad she'd shown up, though the circumstances could have been better. Percy scrambled to his feet, rushed over to Thalia.
"Sparks!"
"Water Works," Thalia said. "Heard you were getting married. Notice I didn't get an invitation to the wedding."
Annabeth laughed.
"We had no idea where you were!" she said accusingly. "You're a good one for disappearing. But now you're back you can have the place of honour."
"Hey - " Piper broke in with a cheeky grin. "I thought that was going to me."
"You can have a joint place of honour with Piper. And we can have another hen night. Maybe in Europe. Should we go to Europe? Maybe Paris, I haven't been to Paris. Hey Percy let's go to Paris."
"Sure," Percy said cheerfully, without a real clue about what was going on. "I'll add it to the list."
The rest of Annabeth's friends had intermingled with Percy's. Shots were poured out and taken around for the girls.
"We were dancing," Will said, gently pulling Nico back by the arm.
"That was when I knew the song," Nico said.
Will fixed him with an unimpressed look.
"Everyone knows What is Love."
Nico couldn't really deny that.
"You know I hate dancing," he mumbled but he let Will pull him along anyway and somehow he stayed until the next song and the song after that. He didn't drink much after the first shots and joined Jason on the blue gatorade. Though Will thought Luke didn't think there was much danger, and didn't pose a threat, and though Thalia had shaken off whatever was upsetting her and was dancing happily with Annabeth and Piper, there was a small part Nico couldn't quite relax. Will, he noticed, followed his lead and didn't drink much at all. That was like a knife in Nico's chest: painful and making him go weak at the same time and it made him smile at Will and keep dancing. Will was a good distraction.
At some point Percy and Annabeth's outer circle of friends left, leaving him and Will, Jason and Piper, and Leo, and Thalia. They all sat out on the fire escape, wrapped in coats and various items of fancy dress that had been strewn around the bar. Nico sat back against Will's legs, listening to the music that still played, though more quietly, and watching as the sky turned pale blue and then tinged pink.
The others were talking - reminiscing, making plans - but he was content to listen, Will's fingers intertwined with his.
Tiredness was catching up with him. The others were starting to feel the effects too, but no one wanted to end the party. At some point Nico fell asleep woke again when Thalia and Piper, who had very quickly become best friends, starting singing Country Roads Take Me Home To The Plaaaace -and planning to quit their jobs that second and take a road trip. Leo was going on about all the best things about road trips when Nico's eyes shut again.
Will nudged him awake again when the sun was a yellowing disc just above the horizon.
"Time to go," he said softly.
The others were getting up, collecting their things. In the foyer Jason was organising taxis, trying to count them all and figure out who would be best to ride with who.
"Where are you staying Thalia?"
"With ussss!" Piper said enthusiastically, to both Thalia and Jason's surprise though both accepted it.
"Okay so that means the three of us in one taxi," Jason said.
"Nico you better go with Percy," he continued. That was usually Jason's job but Nico just shrugged.
"And then Will with you as well obviously but then that leaves Leo and Annabeth. Wait where are you staying Leo?"
"He's near me," Annabeth said. "That works."
Jason stared at the both of them, doubtingly. Leo had on a pair of sunglasses and though he was leaning against the wall he was tipping and tilting and he keeled over. Annabeth was swaying happily and in complete contrast to her sober self did not seem very with it at all.
"I'll go with them," Will volunteered, catching Jason's eye with a slight smile. "It's sort of on the way."
Will glanced at Nico and Nico shrugged and nodded.
"I'll see you at home."
Will left first with Leo and Annabeth who were looking most worst for wear. Him and Percy were supposed to be next but then Percy, who had been fiddling with his engagement band, lost the ring and was crawling around looking for it.
"You go," Nico said. "I'll get the ring and the groom into the next taxi."
Jason smirked.
"Practice for the wedding?" he asked.
"I freaking hope not," Nico answered.
Jason grinned and wished him a good night, taking his drunk girlfriend and tipsy sister with him. Nico watched Percy scrabbling around the floor for a moment and then with a sigh got down on his hands and knees and began searching.
"Found it!" Nico said extracting the ring from under the counter. "And that sounds like the taxi."
He handed pulled Percy to his feet and handed him the ring.
"Don't lose it again," he instructed sternly, but his attempts to be authorititive just had Percy giggling.
"You don't do that as much anymore," Percy commented as Nico dragged him towards the door.
"Do what?" Nico asked distractedly.
"Frown," Percy said.
Nico stopped dead, but Percy was too drunk to notice any significance in that.
"I don't know what you mean," he said quietly. He pulled himself together, pulled Percy onwards.
"I frown all the time," Nico continued. "Look I'm frowning now because you're not walking properly and you're going to pull us both over."
"Sorry," Percy said automatically.
"I'm glad you have Will though," Percy said, apparently reaching the soppy stages of his drunk pattern. Nico was surprised he hadn't gotten there sooner. Nico glanced at his friend, who was frowning in his attempts to put one foot in front of the other. There was no way Percy would remember this conversation in the morning.
"I'm glad too," Nico said softly. "And I'd quite like to get home so if you could hurry it up that would be great."
Percy gave him a sappy grin.
"I love you Neeks," he said. "You're like my favourite little brother."
"Great," Nico said.
Percy frowned.
"Ugh," Nico said. "I love you too. Now for goodness sake the driver is going to drive off without us at this rate."
Percy did make a concentrated effort to hurry up, for all the good it did their pace. It wasn't far to the door but Percy managed to turn it into a marathon. Luckily the car was still waiting, back door open. Nico poured Percy inside and got in after him, yanking the door shut. Nico gave Percy's address and driver moved off without a word.
Nico's eyes were getting heavy again and he kept thinking of collapsing in bed. He had to keep jerking his eyes open, glancing over at Percy to make sure he wasn't making trouble, before sinking back into a sleepy daze. Because he was so out of it, it took him far too long to figure out the car wasn't going the right way.
He frowned, just faintly puzzled at first. They weren't that far from where they should be. Maybe there had been a diversion. When the car took a right when it should have been a left, Nico felt the thrills of dread.
He didn't know what to do, and Percy was too drunk to be any help and drunk enough to be a huge liability. Did he say something to the driver? Maybe the driver had heard the address wrong or -
Or this was deliberate.
He swallowed and pulled out his phone. His battery was flashing low, down in very last dregs of red. He'd taken too many pictures of Percy and Leo for bribery purposes. That would teach him. He would probably only have time for one call, or one message. Who did he reach out for? The police? Jason? Will? They should really have a group chat for these kind of problems - help we've been kidnapped.
An incoming text from Jason made up his mind. Jason was clearly by his phone.
He tapped out a quick message - probably incoherent in his hurry to get it sent before the battery died. After it was sent he opened up his and Will's thread but the screen went black, the little charge symbol taunting him when he stabbed at the screen.
Nico glanced at the driver, a dark figure behind the glass, and then to Percy. He was staring out the window, apparently oblivious to everything, half mumbling half singing. It was that song, the one he'd first got up to dance to. Will had never gotten to tell him what it was. What if Nico got murdered now and Will never got to tell him and he'd die not knowing and Will wouldn't know what happened to him.
No need to panic though.
He nudged Percy gently.
"Have you got your phone?" he asked.
Percy rummaged in his pockets then shook his head.
"I think Jason might have had it. Or Annabeth. Or Leo took it at one point and was recording some monologue about -"
Nico tuned out. Great. Just great. They were trapped in a taxi with a possible mad-mass murderer and/or one of Luke's minions or someone from Jason's father which all really probably amounted to the same thing. And neither of them had a working phone.
Though he could still feel tiredness, it was held at bay by the tension coiled in him. When the car stopped he threw open the door, intending to pull Percy out with him, to make a run for it. Percy was entangled with his seat belt and didn't have enough urgency for it to work. As the driver opened his door, Nico raced around the car, opened up Percy's door.
"This isn't my house," Percy observed, reasonably calmly though there was an undercurrent of awareness rising to the surface. He was beginning to look alarmed.
"Hurry up," was all Nico said.
Percy turned back to his seat belt. Nico sensed someone behind him and he turned, too quickly. They'd come to a stop on a dirt driveway, muddy and slippery and his foot had caught on a rock. He went down, trying to catch at the door to save him but it swung in throwing him even more off balance. He was aware of a sharp pain as he hit his head on something and then there was black.

R is For Revenge - Chapter 2
A/N: Hey guys! Here’s Chapter 2! you can also find this at https://www.wattpad.com/story/88012466-r-is-for-revenge-camren happy reading!
CAMILA
“Goodness, I need to stretch out for a bit!”
“Careful out there!” I laughed at Dinah as she hopped out the cab.
“You! Get your ass off that cab and stare at your new house! OH. MY. GOSH. Mila!”
My eyebrows furrowed quizzically. Why what’s with my house? I thought. I paid the driver and went out carrying my suitcase with me.
“Hey, what’s the matter?”
Dinah didn’t answer, instead she raised her hand and pointed at the mansion.
Oh. That, of course.
It’s smaller than my house at LA, but I didn’t realize that it’s the biggest house in the village. Come to think of it, I’ll live in there alone. And by the looks of this village, I’ll probably not be hanging around with my “neighbors.” They’re like a few blocks away from my house; as if they don’t want any newbie along the corner. It’s not that I don’t want that. I picked this spot so no one could ever bother me, but the thought made me cringe and look back at my younger years.
“So, Mila, are you sure you won’t be having any relatives coming along with you? Man, this house is huge,” She inquired, pulling me away from my thoughts.
“I don’t know. Jason’s not answering his phone. Seriously, the next time I see him, I’m going to kick his ass.”
“Who- your half-brother?”
“Yeah, that one.” I nodded, eyeing the whole place. “I don’t think he can leave LA right after I did. Besides, he can’t live without that hag he tied the knot with.”
“The girlfriend?”
“Not the girlfriend now, though. The wifey,” I groaned, rolling my eyes. “Yes, Allison Harks. The model. I keep asking him what he saw in her, but he always shrugs at me.”
“And stares at me frustratingly, thank you very much.” I quickly added.
“They eloped already?” Dinah gasped.
“Oh yes, and I was there to give a speech at their wedding,” I chuckled. “It was annoying, actually. I never liked parties, if I may to add.”
“Yeah I know. You’re not a drinker, either. But- I mean, isn’t he the one who’s supposed to take over the company then?”
“Uhm, no,” I replied dryly. “Actually, being married to someone doesn’t give you a free way ticket to the top management of the company.“ I elaborated further. "Hard work does. At least that’s what dad told us.”
“I think so too Mila, “She nodded, agreeing with me. “So you mean, you’re in charge?”
“Yeah, well I don’t have a choice do I?” I replied, grabbing my suitcase up the porch’s stairs. Dinah follows, jaw now hanging out of amazement. Again.
“You know, if you don’t close your mouth, you’ll get flies in it.” I commented.
“Fine! Fine! But in all seriousness, Camila, you’ll live here alone?” she asked, brushing right past me.
“Why? Something wrong with that? I can take care of myself. I’m 19,” I smirked.
“Maybe, I can ask mom if I can accompany you here. We don’t know if there’s something supernatural going on here, right?” She said, quivering. “Maybe the past owner died here, or the people who lived here were massacred, or-“
“Woah! Slow down! You’re giving me creeps.” I glared at her. “Nothing’s happened here before, okay?” I said, calming my ass off from what she said. “Jeez, Dinah.”
I think Dinah’s the bad influence in our friendship here. She’s the one with the crazy imagination after all.
I swung the door open.
This time, my jaw dropped. Seriously? Whose house did I buy? The King’s?
“Hah! Your turn sister!” Dinah laughed, shoving me to the side.
“Dinah, I think I need to ask permission from your mom so you can live here with me.” I giggled in return. “This place is enormous! I think I’d die of boredom before the school starts if I’m alone.”
For once, I let myself get distracted of this new life. Well, accompanied with this new house. The ceiling is painted in different hues of blue so it could look like the sky and the golden chandeliers lit the place like a muted sunset but not too much that it’s too dim. The house actually looks bigger and wider on the inside compared to the one seen outside. And it seems like it’s prettier in here, too.
“For real though? She’d be ecstatic, Mila!” Dinah jumped up and down, playfully shaking me because of excitement.
“Alright jumpy, get your hands off me now,” I laughed.
We moved deeper in the living room. The plush sofa is sitting in the middle, just across the 64-inch LCD television. On the left, the kitchen counter is visible along with the bar counter. I don’t really drink, hence that counter is for display only.
“Where are you attending, by the way? You mentioned school.” Dinah said, feeling the soft fabric of the sofa.
“I’m at Queensland now, if you know, want to be by my side or we can be like schoolmates and stuff like that. I’m actually a scholar there.” She kinked her eyebrows in suggestion. “Oh and speaking of mom, I told her I’ll be out in just a few hours, so maybe now’s the time we should go.”
“Well, what are the odds? Are you stalking me, China? I’m enrolling there too!” I jumped in pure bliss. “And woah, A scholar? I never dreamed that the great Dinah Jane Hansen would be stuck in a book.” I laughed, raising one eyebrow. “Did you told her about me?”
“Ohhh that’s good! That’s good! Finally! I’ll be able to kick your ass! Bring it on Cabello!” She said, pumping her fist in the air. “As for mom, she’s up for a surprise later.”
“Oh no China, I’m so scared,” I giggled at her antics.
“Have you forgotten my Poly beat down?” She laughed mercilessly and drooped down a little closer so she can face me. “You should be, Mila.”
I laughed at my best friend’s attitude. This girl might be tall and all grown-up on the outside, but she’s still a kid on the inside.
“Shall we go then?” I said, offering the crook of my arm to her.
“We shall!” she said, locking my elbow with hers. “Err, your bag, Mila.”
“Oh right. Just put it there in the middle of the room,” I said. “We’ll have time to roam around and discover the house when we get back, okay?”
“Okay, Let’s get it on!” she grinned.
We went out and locked the porch door. We were halfway through the stairs when she was suddenly curious about something.
“What?”
“How should we go? There’re no cabs here. Should we walk to the villa’s guard house? Or Uber? Or what?” She asked. “It’s like, this is a more secluded area, don’t you think?”
I grinned at her and she stared at me blankly.
“Oh, I don’t mind being distant. I kind of like it.” I grinned. “Besides, it’s here.”
“What’s here?”
As If on cue, the jet black Audi A9 sped from the mansion’s garage to the front gate.
“Land mode restored. Welcome back, Karla,” the car’s system said.
Dinah’s jaw dropped a thousand feet. I clutched my stomach and laughed harder.
