Hisui Chapter 2

guys. im doing a lot of planning and such rn, and let me just say im so incredibly glad i get to tell this story. I know the games been out forever now, i know were all bored of PLA, but I told myself i'd finish this project and i will. the next 3-4 years will be soley dedicated to it due to life changes, so hopefully the process will smooth out, but it is still just a one woman show, and i still gotta take on other work rn to pay bills, so i cant put the time into the Electus comic like id love to, YET.

I am however very emotional about the development of it all. I cant wait to share Peach's backstory in full detail, I cant wait for you all to see that first pannel where here real name is uttered and the terror hits her, or the moment she goes to do something so utterly stupid out of sheer gut reaction and ends up in a pickle. This story is so much about the little details, the things that we all love about the pokemon world, she'll teach Rei and in turn teach us the readers some cool facts. We will get blood shed, and drama and tears and treachery, and we get to do it all the while experiencing a woman learning to recover from a lifetime of trauma piled onto her shoulders.

we get to see her open up to people when she would never have before. We get peak Val and Peach content, them at their utter finest and truly lowest! we get to walk through memories, see what happened, and see how those moemnts shaped her.

I feel so passionate about showing a character who fails, who gets knocked down, who messes up, is human, makes mistakes, countless, stupid mistakes, and despite that, despite how many times she fails she doesnt quit, and thats what makes Peach who she is really. Tenacity, enduring, and despite her initial rage, she even learns patience.

idk, i just have strong opinions on this one, i wish i could gush about it all day long honestly, this adult take on a kids game makes me happy, and i get to fix the mistakes the creators made with PLA.

hi hi! im very flattered that you love my writing, thank you! i can totally do that! i dont do smut mainly because i feel like i wont do it any justice and ill write it super awkward- but im considering trying to write spicy stuff in the future so you could request stuff then! im also going to try a new way of writing heacanons, ive seen other people write this way and it seems easier. (also im not sure if you wanted a story or headcanons)

-he was actually happy to see you finally opening up to the people around you. i mean you kept to yourself since the day that you arrived so why would he not be happy about you physically opening up to people, hes especially happy when its him

-the first time you've ever openly craved his touch he lightly teased you as he had that smile on his face (you know the one) but then of course embraced you in his arms while his other hand played with your hair

-you dont mind hugging or clinging onto people in public. but with Adaman you'd prefer to do all that in a private place, you dont know why you just do. (you do know, you just dont want people in public to see the flustered look on your face and how vulnerable you look as you melt in your touch)

-he also finds it absolutely adorable when you cling onto people in public, he loves seeing your face. later he even asks you about it. And he smiles happily when he feels you cling onto his arm and lightly tug the fabric of his haori.

-i also imagine you just clinging onto his arm as he walks around working or judt doing things in your shared tent in the diamond settlement. or even when the two of you are walking in a secluded area surrounded by wild Pokemon.

-he honestly wouldnt mind spending his time or even missing part of a meeting just to lay down with you in his arms as you crease his back and he creases your hair/head. wouldnt mind spending his time with you at all because he's an absolute sucker for you

-he wouldnt mind doing that all day until you go to sleep in his arms. he would also constantly rub your back through out the night and make you feel all warms oh my god-

-one thing he would constantly do is that he would play with your finger tips, and after a while he will match your finger tips with his and leave it like that for a couple of seconds before slowly intertwining his hand with yours, and you absolutely love when he does that. (this has me blushing oh my god 💀)

-if he ever sees you hesitate to cling onto him or to grab his hand he'll just pull you close to his chest so you could cling onto him or slightly brush his hands against yours before intertwining his with yours.

-i also imagine that one day you were clinging, hugging, etc onto Adaman and your Pokemon appear and push that two of you even closer to each other. if you have a Sylveon i imagine it wrapping its ribbons around the two of you binding the two of you together.

You silently sat on the edge of the bed in your and Adaman's shared tent in the Diamond Clan settlement. Inside the tent was surprisingly big despite its small appearance on the outside. As you sat your feet slightly hoovered over the floor and you began to slightly kick your feet.

You let out a sigh through your nose as you leaned placed your elbows on your legs and propped your face in the palm of your hands. You starred at your swaying feet for what seemed like hours, you've been waiting Adaman to come back from a meeting. Of course you know that Adaman is an extremely important person and he doesnt just belong to you and only you, but in that moment you cant help yourself. You want to be in his arms and be engulfed in his scent.

After some time you saw a shadow being cast over you. You looked up and it was the one and only, Adaman. You hadn’t noticed his arrival because you were occupied with the thought of… well, him (funny isn’t it?) He had his usual smile on his face and his right hand rested on his hip. Your fingers lightly twitched against the fabric of your pants. Without a word you got up from the bed and embraced him tightly, your force caused him to stumble back a bit.

He regained his balance before wrapping his arms around you. "I missed you.." you breathed out against his chest. "I know I know..." he rested his chin on top on your head and began to rub circles on your back. A sigh of relief left your lips as you leaned more into his touch. "I know you're busy, but please stay..?" He smiled, "Im yours for the rest of the day. My attention is yours, my time is yours"

From then on the two of you spent the rest of the day together in each others embrace. You focused on him, all his attention was yours (same with him), and you made sure to keep as much physical connection with him as possible. :)

hi, so i formatted the story and HC's differently because i realized that i write in clumps and that might be difficult for others to read so i spaced them out a bit more. Let me know if this is better!

a lot of the self!aware volo content around here usually revolves around the player either forgiving volo/keeping him in check so that he doesnt screw shit up more than he already had, but i wanna experiment with the idea of what were to happen if the player scorned volo for what he did, and getting angry to the point volo wishes that he faced the wrath of that phony "god" arceus and not *you.*

volo has a very concerning obsession with getting closer to what he views as a "god", right? so, when he finds out about you, that obsession triples in size, if not quadruples. to think that a deity, more powerful than arceus or ANY of the legendaries or the mythicals combined was simply walking around under his nose in the form of rei/akari, it drives him to bits and pieces. yet, every time he encounters the chosen of arceus in question, he can only feel the air in his lungs escape the atmosphere around him becoming thick as a ditto. he looks into the skies of hisui above only to be greeted with a face. *your* face. volo was always one to find or point out the obvious, yet he didnt want to point out the fact that you were angry at him. rageful, even. what goul does he possess that makes him just walk up to you after what he did?

obviously, he knows its because of that itty bitty little betrayal against akari/rei. its his purpose to be the villain, could you really fault him for that? ... okay, you probably can. but if there is one thing, and ONE thing that volo knows at this point, its the length of the hole he buried himself in. arceus, for all he cared, could simply send volo to a place, somewhere far far away from jubilife where he wouldn't need to see anyone for the sake of not causing more uproars. he can live with that, im sure of that. but you can do so much more. you can edit the world as you please, get rid and change every aspect that you want without the consequences of any life lost, and that scared volo to his core. he could battle akari/rei for all the time in the world, but not even his strongest pokemon can have hopes to even come to the power you possess.

a mortal ai facing the wrath of the unknown and the inevitable. its almost funny how terrifying that sounds.

ajfsdfjsjdf Man knows he fucked up. Fucked around and found out. He's gonna be spending so much time beating himself up about it. And the fear. The fear you must hate him. The fear of the unknown. It leaves him so sick to his stomach. Should he do anything? He fears trying to backtrack to please you would make you angry, but in the end, was it his fault? You created this world, no? Or rule over it? And he was created for your entertainment? It still leaves him feeling conflicted and ill. Your anger on top of it? He sometimes wonders if he should get out of bed

I feel like Kieran when they get back from Hisui is very similar to how he is in the end game/mochi mayham. He's that sweet, kind kid again, only more confident in himself and his interests. Like, his interactions with Nemona, Arven and Penny were so sweet and they seem like they'd be wonderful friends for him too. Nemona'a views on battling and strength reminded me of Ingo's, so Ingo is like the adult stand in for Nemona in Hisui. Kieran legit needs some sort of adult role model who is actively guiding him, and I think Ingo and Laventon (and Irida and Adaman though they're more young adults) would do him a whole lot of good.

So Kieran gets back, there may be a custody battle in the works because Kieran is legally dead, and Akari is an unknown so a whole new social security number got issued for them and now the Submas family is trying to get legal guardianship when Drayton walks in and is like that is a whole ass dead child come back to life Carmine get on facetime NOW im being serious.

Carmine who is two regions away in a different time zone: sleeps through 70 missed calls

Everyone who knew Kieran before has whiplash because this is *their* Kieran, the sweet Kieran who is now so much more sure of themself, and not the misreable tyrant who they last saw. Only this Kieran half remembers them, occasionally says some out of pocket self depreciating stuff that rings alarm bells, and knows how to work a smart phone...kind of. God won't let them join any group chats, but gave access to filters for the photo app for some reason.

After Carmine meets Kieran again she'd probably say something like "we need to tell the protagonist" and Kieran would just be like who's that? And her heart would break.

And then the protagonist's heart breaks because Kieran is alive, doesnt remember them but is happier seeming? Look how much happier they are not knowing me... (surprise Kieran takes to the protagonist again like a fish to water, and the protagonist in return is kind of protective)

Oh and Carmine consults Arven about Kieran's diet because not eating processed foods for two years their stomach is fricked. So is Ingo's (please...the man just wants to eat a slice of pizza even if it kills him).

Eelektross in Hisui AU idea, I know we are still in the "events prior to Ingo showing up as the plot solution" but the idea of Ingo's and his beloved but Horrible Wet Guard Dog, that is almost overpowered for the setting (modern professional fighting pokemon have access to all the food, training and potions/ healthcare they need and research has figured better training methods like IV and EV, their only weakness is they follow Stardard Battle Rules like No cutting turn order or no mob Vs one guy) Anyways Ingo only somewhat remembers Eelektross (You have to have Ingo remember eelektross's train pun nickname, I recommend Catenary which is the wires that power electric trains/trolleys) So we have this Legendary Monster that terrorized and chased people for Weeks sitting in Ingo lap being scratched behind the ear(?) fins, wiggling in happiness, while Meille in the background is recovering from being electricuted (Ingo Did Not want to be Touched and eelektross Will make sure that is Respected)

Oh Ingo definitely doesn't remember Eelektross. Though, as you said, he finds him to be verrry familiar and is way more understanding of his behavior than others. I think it'd take even Akari and Laventon some time to stop seeing Eelektross as a wildly territorial pokemon. Ingo, meanwhile, picks up on the fact that his playful and friendly demeanor and behavior are being mistaken for aggression almost right away.

Ingo himself struggles to explain WHY he's able to make this connection beyond just stating that he somehow KNOWS and chalking it up to some kind of intuition. Regardless Eelektross is thrilled to finally find someone he now only knows, but who doesnt treat him either as a beast or some subject of research. So their relationship is relatively good. Whether or not Eelektross tries to help with Ingo's memory loss or is content with just watching over him is still up in the air atm tho he'd definitely grow verrrrry protective of Ingo after everything he's been through.

Eelektross is also definitely OP. Not just due to all the training, but because his species is a complete unknown in Hisui. I mean there aren't that many species in Hisui who can boast having no natural weaknesses in legends arceus especially if one considers Eelektross has a hand on his natural abilities (levitate) in a way that trainers and pokemon in the past dont quite have gives him a unique advantage.

As you say though, this is a double edged sword. Eelektross does NOT do well alone in the wild. Despite being well trained, in prime condition, and very powerful hes been raised taking direction from a trainer and while he does draw on certain memories of strategies Emmet came up with and used in the past, he doesnt have the skill to come up with any strategies of his own. Beyond that he has always been entirely reliant on humans for food, shelter, etc. and so fails in the wild because of that as well.

In fact, its that reliance on humans that more or less causes him to be mistaken as an aggressive creature in the first place.

I don't know about nicknames as I rarely ever give Ingo and Emmets pokemon nicknames (one exception being Ingos Excadrill eventually earning the nicname "Nana" in his absence but thats from a whole other concept) but calling him "Catenary" will certainly make things easier.

DFGDFDFGD okay so!!! i wanna start off with dont think too hard about it else ur brain will start to hurt (speaking from experience lmaoo) ANYWAYS!!! it's basically ingo gets sent to hisui but when ingo asks arceus to be sent home, arceus is like "dang bro sorry i didnt bring you here so it's not my problem but ya know what i actually need someone to babysit this fucker i damned, so you can just babysit him for all eternity! fair? :)" then doesnt wait for his answer

so we got ingo and volo stuck with each other, like it or not, there's rough patches, arceus didnt even bother to help ingo with him amnesia so he's still cloudy on parts of his past life and you know how it is to be around someone for too long, anger fighting ect but dont worry they begrudgingly come to an understanding and are now just vibing until time itself ends :)

well they're in modern day now, it's volo's turn to pick how they live their pretend mortal lives, so he picks unova to chill at cuz he's heard it's advanced since the last time they visited, ingo finally gets to have some memories as a treat as he catches sight of his old self and emmet, volo even convinces him to battle them so they can semi formally meet emmet and they carry on with this life, well volo's turn ends and ingo takes them somewhere else for his turn

cut to a few years later the duo is back in unova ( cuz it's volo's turn again ) when volo catches wind that one of the subway bosses had gone missing and the search was finally called off due to lack of leads after 2 long years, volo feels bad, just because god labled him a bad egg doesnt mean he is, he just wanted to reset the world to make it better :( so since it was maybe, kinda, totally his fault ingo got yeeted he decided he could fuck arceus over, i mean what's he gonna do? kill him? that's be a blessing. damn him to live forever? kinda already did that bestie,,,

so he gets emmet and elesa to come to his hotel room tries to find a way to tell them that he knows where their ingo is without making himself look crazy,,,,ends up looking crazy cuz his ingo just HAD to have a newpaper clipping of the trio claiming it to be "as close as a family photo as he'll ever have" emmet clocks him while elesa tries to call the cops cuz this nutcase is totally a stalker freak--then ingo comes home. skipping over the meltdown everyone has, and straight into project eeby-deeby rescue. we got angst, bonding, and finally a happy reunion.

meanwhile we got the emmet from when ingo first got put in hisui with no closure, no brother, and for some reason he's?? not?? aging?? so yeaahhh he's convinced he's in hell mostly when any pokemon he goes to for help basically tells him "sorry broski under strict rules from the big man himself not to help u with jackshit" so he's not doing so hot :) ( well until ingo and volo finally catch up to the era he's in then he's not doing so hot but with his brother now! )

i was hoping for more interesting interactions but like what can you expect with pokemas... the possibilities are endless though when you mix hisui with modern day pasio so a girl can dream. the one thing that gets me most is that cyrus didnt recognize what the galaxy team was like HELLO??? the others not knowing what hisui is i can accept bc the history is kinda lost but like cyrus is connected to the galaxy team by direct family lineage. im in denial about it though so im imagining hes lying about not knowing bc hes a liar and refuses to share anything about himself (especially something so personal and traumatizing if we take into account how her legacy likely had an impact on how high expectations were set for him growing up)

Kyurem Is Not A Good Therapist

Ingo got into caving after his return to hisui. It was a way of escaping how stifling the city felt after years of living alone. He has an unfortunate habit of not telling anyone where he's going.

Emmet is terrified of Ingo going missing again, as such he doesnt really like this hobby, but is trying his best to remind ingo of proper safety checks.

until ingo finds kyurems cave, and emmet simply can't take the worry.

it ends with ingo running from the apartment, finding himself back at the same cave

to understand what happens next, its important to know that ingo hasnt been doing well since he got back. he hasnt got most of his memories, and has been living with someone he should know, but doesnt. hes almost constantly overstimulated, frustrated, and feels like the safety checks emmet wants are unrealistic after so long on his own.

so, after all that, when he enters that cave out of spite, and starts venting to the dragon about to eat him.

well, kyurem's not sure whats going on, but it likes this guy, even if he stinks of zekrom and arceus.

when it notices the guy starting to shiver, it gives him a bit of power so he can keep going. it doesnt even destroy the tent the man set up.

it recognizes the anger in his heart as similar to its own. longing for a past that they cant return to, a self they cant return to.

so they chat, as much as kyurem can. and when the guy leaves to go to work after a week, kyurem puts a bit more power into him, to make sure hes strong, and welcomes him back that night.

To everyone else, ingo disappeared again, and came back with eyes closer to ice than silver, and a chill to both his touch and personality.

lets just say putting the man with a vulnerable mental state next to a being that has stewed in a similar pain for centuries? not good for said man's mental state or moral compass

🎧 - a song that reminds me of us: touch by daft punk! we have no idea how long ingo has been in hisui... how long hes been trying to find answers for why he's here, his constant visions and dreams of the people he's unknowingly left behind plaguing him? who can he talk to about it?

after meeting rosa, so relieved to meet another person like him in this time, and being inexplicably drawn to them... something as simple as his gentle, shy smile and firm handshake as they introduced themself shook ingo. was he really so touch starved that he'd fall for another at the first (warm, reassuring, solid...) touch? as if he knew he would be able to depend on them in the highlands soon enough, without a second thought? theyd just met!... hadn't they?

little did he know that rosa was as awestruck as he was; ingo made one hell of a first impression with that get up, And he was easy on the eyes?? a powerful and respected trainer who didnt need to be showoff-y and brash to show their strength... ingo already had rosa swooning a bit, shes immediately wanting to battle him already, but waits until ingo asked for one :3

but all that to say one touch opened up the flood of thoughts and memories for the both of them, as well as make them realize how incredibly lonely theyve been and how Good it feels to hold and be held, to be reunited even if they dont know it yet ;3; (aside from the obvious, *youre both in love and happy but cant shake the feeling of a part of you Missing. there is a hole in your heart that you cant seem to fill and youre mourning it, but have no idea what it is.* lol. (EMMET BABY IM SOWWY WE'RE IN FUCKIN MEIJI ERA HOKKAIDO AND UR NOT HEREEEE AUGHHHHH)

🌒 - something f/o loves about me: ingo can be real a workaholic, and trying to get him to finish for the day when theres always something to do is like pulling teeth at times😭 hes simply a responsible guy! who has been overworking himself for. arceus knows how long... as much as he wants to keep chugging along with his tasks, he loves that rosa is as stubborn as he is and is determined to get him to stop working as hard and take breaks, often having to resort to bribing him with a favorite sweet or snack for a break in which he Still insists, he can enjoy with them once hes done... . if he insists on staying put, they get hands on and start working alongside him so they can either get to battling or get their asses to Sleep (with rest being as precious a resource as it gets in this time period, naps double count as dates to rosa hehe)

❤️ - a fact about our relationship: its a lot of work, literally! ingo trains rosa with battles when she comes back from field research, coming up with different strategies and movesets to prepare them for alpha pokemon and catching legendaries, which doesnt leave very much down time for them at all ;;; rosa likes to show off both their skills in a battle for the villagers to watch, and may be a Little flirty when tossing out a command n give him a kissy face and a wink bc theyre cheeky, and throw him off for a second kshvbjks :3

hm... i need to get this out of my head already...

So I’ve been thinking on and off about the possibility of Ingo having fallen into Hisui with his Poketch but since he lost his memories he doesnt remember how to use it...

To refrain from breaking it/to have people stop asking questions about what it is (please refrain from asking what it is he doesnt KNOW) he just takes it off and leaves it in his tent and kinda just ignores it until one day when he invites Akari over for a chat she stumbles upon it and is like “Oh you have some weird technology too?” and whips out her arcphone and compares them and he notices the watch also has those weird cirular pieces like whatever Akari is holding.

So shes like fiddling with it and pressing in the button and asking him how it works out of curiosity but ofc he has no idea what to do with it until Akari suddenly goes “Oh wait! Its probably just not charged!” and Ingo has to stare at her in confusion because What? What does she mean its ‘not charged’ what does that even...

So she pulls out her electric Pokemon and has it zap the watch and with bated breath she presses in the button... but nothing happens. Ingo watches her in confusion and looks between the watch and her face like...okay now what... so she hands off the watch to him and mumbles something something about finger prints maybe? and he has. No Idea. what shes talking about but whilst shes preocupied trying to figure out what to do he copies the motion she’d done by pressing in a little button on the side and suddenly the screen lights up! And Ingo is ecstatic! Because thats great! One of the few things he’d come to Hisui with is functionable again! 

So on auto pilot he starts tapping at the screen without realising he just knows how to work this thing now apparently and notices a number in the corner of the screen that is. Quite Large. and he clicks on it and he and Akari watch as he scrolls through like... 200 unread messages from an unknown number (with no name and a fuzzy picture) that all, hilariously, look like variations of this:

and thats how they find out Ingo WAS sent to Hisui for a reason. 

He was originally supposed to be the one to ‘Seek Out All Pokemon’ because of his experties in battling and Pokemon knowledge but God Fucked Up Big Time and now he’s following an entirely different and unrelated path (out of sheer luck) as a Warden thanks to God being a little too rough with his weak human body.

(I keep thinking about how funny it would look though like- Because God picked him up from one place and un-ceremoniously dropped him in another without too much care so he just fucking gmod ragdoll DONKED off the ground and lost his memories upon impact with the earth and then does the family guy death pose or some shit. Once Arceus saw his head crack into something it was like UHM. What about battle quotes for her stint in Hisui? Are there any yet?

planning wise, she has not battled anything as of yet in the traditional sense. But this is the thing with Peach, either she fights you directly, and bypasses the pokemon all together because she knows without a trainer, most pokemon can be calmed or lulled into a sense of submission, especially if her and Val intimidate, and disarm. Damage can be avoided. OR of course Val makes a decision that Peach has no right to stand in the way of, and Val fights of her own accord. I have yet to plan anything where peach fights as a regular trainer, with her team, and have not written anything yet where that happens, thats not really the purpose of the Hisui arc, its more about setting up dominoes that will later in other story arcs after this one be knocked down. Its a chance to learn more about pokemon and this weird professor who's not very conventional, not follow the constructs of traditional pokemon games, that just dont appeal to me personally. The villains i've created for the hisui story don't even have pokemon, so she's gotta go in and handle things herself more often than not, with Val as backup of course. She does befriend some pokemon but at no point uses the ancient pokeballs as intended. Her team either hangs with her freely as wild mons who shes just chilling with, or they go off and do their own thing. They will of course battle together, just not yet, nothings on paper. Pokemon arent really the villains to defeat and capture, theyre not the target, so she tends to leave them alone at every possible chance. Technically, the hisui stint is intended to be more adult, so the typical phrases said in the kids games do not apply, shes going to swear a lot, and shout, and be so angry at so many points, and feel homesick and sad, because of the unfortunate circumstances. Its an adult take on a kids thing, so theres deaths, theres realism, theres concequence and moments of genuine sorrow and joy, and the overwhelming theme of growth. So what she says is undetermined, and will change a lot, no one actually has catchphrases right? At least not ones that apply to every single situation in the same way. Just doesnt work well for me when writing. For what its worth, the first fight Peach activly walks into, without being jumped or ambushed, is with Zisu, human v human, no pokemon, she has no idea where val is, is hurt, is tired, doesnt know where she is, and she literally peaks out from behind cover and tells Zisu to go F herself. Thats the first true conflict that she initiates. Pretty sure thats a bad opener for a pokemon game haha

After the whole hisui incident does peach take a bigger interest in learning about pokeball creation considering she saw early pokeball types in action?

Not really, she knows modern pokeballs are tech based, and her skills do not lie there at all. She's quite happy to just let Grey do his development, and ask the odd question, tries to soak up what he says, but thats a very him thing, she comes back and just wants to sleep haha!

Honestly she gets caught up in some more serious issues pretty soon after returning, she doesnt get time to start a new branch of research, her life takes quite the turn and doesnt slow down at all for a long while.

I dont know if she even survives or not, depending on how the story goes!

if she did have time, she'd make sure she continues with her duties, and probably push team brawl further forward to do more good in the world, chaotic good but still. The islands in danger, and she's too busy protecting it. Not only that she takes on Rei, who finds her a week or two after retuning, as an apprentice, so his training is time consuming and important to her.

! i do indeed!! its pretty much a completed au actually, its timeline is complete, i just didnt have plans to release it All in drawing form since just the parts i posted seemed enough

volo in the present day is a librarian. its a simple quiet job where he doesnt really need to interact with people too much, plus his obsession with research translates into a general love of books so he'll often stay after hours when he's supposed to have closed up just to read. he's still very good at the whole fake nice guy act so his few co-workers love him and think he's the best senior the library's ever had but he's sitting there like "they don't know i tried to end the world once"

i havent thought about his team much but i imagine to lower suspicion and not draw attention to himself he strays from using the same pokemon as cynthia. he's already been asked if he's related to her a few times and he's just had to try pass it off as a coincidence so people stopped asking. he keeps using the togepi line though they're his lil buddies and he adores them actually

the au's timeline is simple. volo gathers together emmet, barry and dawn to go find a way to reach hisui to bring back ingo and lucas so that volo doesnt have to keep seeing their names pop up and get reminded of how he Failed so bad at his original plan. its just salt in the wound to keep seeing lucas's face after volo vowed all those years ago to keep trying to meet arceus, but he still hasnt succeeded 200 years on.

at first, volo tells them barely anything. he doesnt even explain why he knows ingo and lucas are stuck in the past. so combined with his grumpiness around them they all initially distrust him, especially emmet who's just become a cool uncle and was trusted to protect barry and dawn. this trio's general cheeriness eventually rubs off on even volo and he cant help softening up after a while of traveling. thats where the guilt sets in for him, really slowly, he doesnt even realize he's getting too attached for his own good until its too late and now suddenly he's starting to develop Empathy again. so eventually he'll at least say he's from an ancient sinnohan lineage that granted him immortality and thats why he knows where ingo and lucas are. hard to believe at first but also dawn remembers that one story about the immortal guy in kalos so like. this might as well be happening

they find a way to timetravel eventually, they track down the lake guardians to (safely, unlike team galactic) summon dialga. a little before he lets them go to hisui, its been so long since they started travelling and the guilt's chipped away at him so much he comes clean. admits the whole past ordeal with giratina and why ingo and lucas were taken was because of him - ingo was direct interference since it was his rift that pulled ingo through, and even arceus itself was forced to call the only person strong enough to stop him, lucas, into hisui. he expects them to hate him after that and was fully ready for it but, while they're shocked and angry, they... still want to be friends with him. they've come to understand volo's changed for the better since his hisui days, they've travelled with him long enough to know that for sure and its not just volo being really good at the happy chirpy friendly facade. they dont forgive him for past deeds, i mean can you really excuse trying to wipe out the Entire Universe, but they at least give him a much needed second chance (roll credits)

emmet, barry and dawn get to reunite with ingo and lucas, everyone goes home. from there i was actually tossing up two ways volo could go: one becoming a researcher again, maybe moving to other regions to help out there. the other becoming a pokemon trainer, pokemon journeys are all about broadening your horizons and connecting with others so volo could benefit from it probably. also cmon he has three friendship evolution pokemon, even if he used to call himself a "wielder" he probably actually cares about his pokemon a lot very deep down. maybe emmet even invites him to be a special guest final opponent on the multi trains with him sometimes.

Ok wait!!! If Gaeric takes Ingo to some drink idk why i imagine Gaeric like can handle alcohol pretty well and doesn't get drunk that easily but then Ingo!! I think he is a lightweight drinker, but even tho Gaeric enjoys their time, because Ingo might or ramble about stuff that has happened or stuff he doesnt know why he remember like he talks about trains (but he doesnt remember the word train) but for Gaeric is "Metalic monsters!" and Gaeric doesnt undertsand but find it amusing or funny and when is like "Warden Ingo! Is time for us to head back! Come!" And Ingo, stand up and tries to walk but fall over and Gaeric is like "Warden! Let me help you!" And you just see Gaeric carrying around Ingo like a rice sack while Ingo constinue telling a story about something random haha and Gaeric is just with that. The next day Ingo doesnt remeber but he feels embarrassed but Gaeric had a blast hahaha

I can’t even imagine what drinks would be like back in Ancient Hisui, with some of the ingredients they have lying around. Imagine making an alcoholic drink (probably something akin to Sake in Hisui) with pep-up plants or Arceus forbid, stardust haha.

Gaeric would be used to them, but Ingo absolutely would not be, this is like nothing Unova had (and knowing he’s a lightweight I’d doubt he’d drink either)

However Ingo seems like he’d loosen up and talk about these half-baked memories he’d normally be too concerned about to openly discuss with others. They won’t know what he’s talking about anyways.

Gaeric has fun all the same though. He just enjoys having a friend! A very talkative one too, a lot more open about his memories than he usually seems to be haha. And the talk of these metal beasts intrigues them. The way Ingo talks about them, it seems some of their fronts have plows similar to the ones on Lord Avalugg’s face. He might try to image a steel-type Avalugg as Ingo talks.

Ingo doesn’t remember much the next day, but he wonders what happened when Gaeric asks him to talk more about the metallic beasts; it was hard to understand what he was saying after he got sick in the snow on the way back last night haha

Actually, I've more questions: you mentioned that Volo and Val eventually got to collecting the plates— what exactly got the ball rolling with that? Was it related to the spooky plate, or was it something else?

And how did those two collecting the plates interfere with the overall mission of the kids that Arceus sent?

What exactly does Missingno do to a person that it possesses? Like, how does it affect the very essence of their being and then some? (This is kind of a self-indulgent question, you don't have to answer if you don't want to since I also have a Missingno oc and went into detail for that bc I love existentialism)

I think them trying to collect the plates was something they were always trying to do. (And by always, I mean once Val breaks down and admits to Volo he thinks Arceus sent him to Hisui. Volo might have already been plate hunting by this point, knowing they had Some ties to Arceus, but I don’t think he’d met Giratina just yet. Val falls months/maybe half a year before the rift opens up over Mount Coronet after all. Sorry the timeline for all these different events is still screwy and nebulous, I’m still piecing things together myself lol)

And I’m also not sure how much the kids interfere atm honestly! Rei and Akari, friends from another time, both take the role of the player character, but I don’t think Val would encounter them all that much to have a strong opinion on them. He thinks they’re normal sweet kids, not like they did anything wrong being sent here. Volo interacts with them the usual amount, nothing out of the ordinary. 

Because of that, I don’t think the confrontation with Volo at Spear Pillar happens either, at least not traditionally. Like I think Rei and Akari are the ones to close the rift and calm Dialga/Palkia, but I don’t think any Volo postgame happens with them. I think that’s a Val and Volo thing. You could interpret that as Missingno’s presence altering the current timeline and throwing the plot into whack, and that’s a fun thought, but idk. I think it’s more just Val ends up having to deal with Volo’s delusions instead of the kids. Like atm, I think Rei and Akari’s presence is mostly fuel for Volo’s gradually degrading morals. 

AND AAH I’ve actually just recently talked about what Missingno IS and how it works in relation to The Horror That Came to Hisui here!

But long story short, Missingno are either scrapped ‘content’ or mutations/aberrations that occur through spacetime distortions and tears. Dialga and Palkia generally clean up these holes in reality pretty quick, but not always quick enough to prevent anomalies from settling in. 

Missingno thrive in corrupted environments. The young and fresh, carefully crafted world Arceus is currently watching over is built so there is no room and no way for It's old, unfinished, generally broken creations such as Missingno to thrive. But Arceus is not a Perfect god, and It has not built a Perfect world, and with a suitable host, a Missingno can get a foot in the door. The longer it stays with a host, the more powerful it gets, and the harder it is to dispel. Like how the longer you hold onto and use glitches and glitch pokemon in game, the more at risk you are for the whole experience to fall apart.

Anyway, Missingno doesn’t necessarily Possess a person (even though i technically say that a lot it doesnt it doesnt im sorry i misled you im pedantic), it more steadily Fuses with a person. The Missingno’s personality and ideals become one with the host’s, and in most cases, an entirely new ‘being’ is made. In Val and Missingno’s case: Jacred. Jacred is gleeful and fun-loving and unwittingly cruel, but also very much still loves Volo like Val loved him. And in knowing Volo’s desire to understand the universe around him and his place in it, Jacred will routinely show Volo things he did not at all ever want to know about the world he inhabits. It’s fun. Jacred really did say ‘know the unknowable, boy’ <3

Physically, Missingno naturally warps and distorts the body in odd ways. Smiles and eyes can seem too big, limbs and necks appear stretched, skin sometimes seems prehensile? Skin that shifts and ripples and ‘moves’ on its own. A host's movements sometimes come with afterimages. Colors and lighting on the host can appear unnatural, too bright or too dull. Physical contact with the host brings slight, but still sharp static sensations. Sometimes portions of the body seem to ‘bleed’ and blur together. All of these distortions happen randomly, and all for split seconds at a time. Blink and you miss it occurrences. Making those nearby wonder if any of what they saw was even real. If Missingno is corrupting the host or simply ones own vision.

And again, the longer Missingno remains in it’s host, the more it fuses with them- the more frequent and extreme the distortions become, the more it’s able to affect the environment around it and the people and pokemon that inhabit it.

I distinctly remember reading a comment on some video about pokemon glitches, and it described how when a glitch pokemon did enough damage to its opponent, the sprite of said opponent would look like it’d just been ‘shattered’, and i think abt that a Lot in relation to Jacred tbh. I will not elaborate on what that could possibly mean for Jacred OR for Volo.

Some team (idk) makes a threat to Emmet about taking Sningo by force! This is before is public knowledge that the sneasel is Ingo. Some Rangers step up and offer to take Sningo somewhere to protect him they assure Emmet they can do a better job then he could. Emmet refuses. He is a subway boss. He is strong. And he does not wish to separate from his brother again. Ingo fully agrees with Emmet. He would rather risk it than be taking from Emmet.

Doing a read more cause idk it got like a bit longer than i liked. It wasnt even a prompt i just couldnt move on till the idea was gone from my brain. Which is how this blog came to be in the first place. Very fitting

Then theres a scare. The team make an attack against the subway boss and its only a fluke that sningo wasnt taken. Emmet was helpless to stop it. They just got lucky and he knows it. Now Emmet is really thinking about taking the Rangers up on that offer. Is his pride worth his brother getting hurt?? No its not. He calls the rangers to ask for help.

Ingo still does not wish to leave Emmets side. They are a two car train after all. A pair that should never be separated!! Sure hes worried about getting taken by this team but staying by Emmets side is much more important to him. Emmet has no idea what it was like for Ingo in hisui. And Ingo never wants to be in that situation again!

The Rangers show up and Ingo is not having it. It isnt until Emmet softly pleads with Ingo to go with them. Its just until we can catch them. Then you can come back home! Its safer this way please Ingo. But Ingo really doesnt wanna. He probably isn convinced until Emmet like mini snaps at him “I DONT WANT YOU TO GET HURT AGAIN!” Or something like “IM NOT STRONG ENOUGH! I cant.. i cant keep you safe here so please just go with them.” Ingo can see how much this is hurting Emmet to do and he at least knows Emmet wont be able to sleep if Ingo stays so he goes. It’s heartbreaking for the rangers to watch tbh. Im picturing that air bud movie there the kid is like sobbing or something over the dog. Elesa is there and just the moment they walk out the door with Ingo (in a carrier im gonna add) Emmet just sobs into her shoulder.

This was verrrry hard for him but its the right choice. She is reassuring him. Now with him at his weakest she leads him to his bed and gets him to get some sleep. The moment hes up and walks into his kitchen he can see her sitting at the table surrounded by papers. They arent going to wait around for the cops to catch these guys. And Emmet can tell his bad habit has bled to her. She even got the red yarn out. Hes so proud.

Ingo meanwhile is having a ruff time (haha borkbork) Emmet informed the Rangers that the Sneasel is Ingo his human brother. They at least they are treating him like a person. The carrier was just a formality after all. The moment they got into the car he was promptly let out. Of course hes sulking. He misses his brother already. Also how could Emmet send him away. They should have solved this together. Arent they a team. Of course Ingo only has like an hour to be mad before his separation anxiety kicks in. And the Rangers bless them are trying but Ingos got a lot of problems (mental mostly) that they arent really equipped to deal with. The nightmares for starters really got them off guard.

This could also go where Emmet doesnt trust the Rangers so he doesnt tell them that the sneasel is Ingo. Now Ingo has to spend however long with people treating him like a pokemon. Really takes a hit to the mans self esteem. Its probably very tiring for Ingo. Plus hes sper depressed that Emmet sent him off so hes just not having a good time either way. Probably sleeps a lot while with them. Of course they try to give him exorcise which is just making it worse. Ingo hardly eats and just finds a place to hide and sleep. The Rangers assume its because well the truth. Because he misses his trainer. Which is pretty damn close. Its just his brother and he feels betrayed. Everytime one of them try to cheer him up they can tell this sneasel is humouring them. Its kinda off putting how humanlike this sneasel is probably. I imagine they are all trying different things that get their pokemon perked up. But since Ingo is human its just making him feel lower and lower. The only one who gets its is a Rangers who treats him like they would their SO or something. Finally human comforts and Ingo finally calms down enough to eat or something.

Idk. Its four forty in the morning and im in the shower. Also Emmet gets hurt a little but he totally kicked some (insert team name here) butt! The police congratulated him and Elesa for it and everything! Of course when Ingo gets back hes finally comfortable enough to be mad at Emmet again. Emmet doesnt understand why Ingos mad at him? Look at what i did for you!! It was all for you!!! It takes Elesa to point out that Emmet didnt even give Ingo a choice in staying or going. He just decided. And abandon his boy while at it. Ingo feels betrayed about it. Till Emmet apologises and opens up about how afraid he was about Ingo getting hurt worse. And losing Ingo permanently. Ingo cant stay mad at that. Emmet promises to never take Ingos choice away again! Which he has some close calls but Ingo has a way to remind him brother.
