is Artificer your favorite Slugcat? is there a second favorite one? and why!
(Thanks for reading, love your art <3 :D)
Oh boi oh boi
Yeah Arti is my favorite because of 2 reasons: she reminds me of my other fav character (Undyne Undertale) and, well, ANGST
Yeah, the more angst the character has in their story, the bigger chance that they have to become my favorite
OH AND HEY, WANNA FUNNY THING? So, like, revenge theme was always, like, my thing. I wrote a THREE fanfics in HTTYD fandom with this theme. The first one was Hiccup killing people for Toothless' death, then vise versa, then (really funny) they both killed for each other, thinking that the other was dead. Fun thing that Toothless' style of revenge was similar to Arti's. I mean, kill everyone. No you can't read them (unless you know russian)
Sorry, i got distracted haha
So, you can guess that on the second place i have Hunter and Saint. Yes, both of them. Why Hunter isn't the first place? Weeell... Idk? When character dies, they just die, the end. When character loses someone they love... They get to live and suffer. Yeah. But still, being on a countdown? Angsty enough.
And Saint... Well, i like them mostly for their brainblast power. Yeah, if the character is strong and/or has some cool power i will probably also like them.
On the third place i have Spearmaster, and i should mention them because back in 2021 i thought they would be my favorite. Because that time we already knew many things about Downpour (which wasn't a thing yet, it was just More Slugcats, legendary mod). And there were like few gameplay videos and a whole stream with Spearmaster's campaign. And i remember that the person was told not to go to shoreline because of the massive spoilers (we were like WHY IS TGAT, IS IT BECAUSE MOOOON IS ALIIVEE???) (we were right lol). Instead they went to five pebbles and he ripped out the pearl from SM. And i was like OMG SO CRUEL I LOVE IT LOOK THEY'RE BLEEDING THEY'RE BLEEDING THEY HAVE FUCKING SCAR!!! and i immediately got few headcanons, that after the Wanderer (from Drought mod) failed their mission on bringing the gold pearl to Five Pebbles, SRS was mad so he took another slugcat, modified them without asking, sew a perl in them so they won't lose it and won't give it to Moon and sent to FP. And i was like OMG ANGST MM YUM YUM
And now it turned out that SRS is actually a good guy and actually cares about Spear and it's no fun ☹️ but the pearl episode is still great yum yum yum
Funny thing that about Arti we knew that she is, well, SHE, and that she fights scavs, has explody powers and cant stay underwater. And karma 1 locked. About Saint we knew that they have brain blast powers and were wondering if they gonna have it in the new version or no. Btw, i started shipping Artisaint in that time too. Like, strong, loud killer and weak quiet saint who can't even hold spears.
Oh well. I'm talking for too long now. Thanks for the question i guess 😅

Little rant about live action remakes, specifically HTTYD
Okay, so sometimes when I am reminded that HTTYD is getting a live action remake, it kinda makes my stomach hurt. Why? Let me tell you.
I watched HTTYD as a kid and kinda forgot about it, but in 2020, when the world was falling apart, I turned to it and fell in love. Like obsessed. I hyper-fixated on it for months. I watched all three movies, the short films, RTTE, and a few episodes of DoB that I could find for free lol. I read the fanfics and have obsessed over fan-art (seriously guys, whoever is talented enough to draw, keep it up! I love y'alls fan-art so much!!) I listened to John Powell's music while I completed my online homework, it felt so stable to me. The characters, the music, the beauty of the animation, it was comforting. Especially during such an awful time.
When I heard that there was a live-action film in the works, it literally made me sick. I refuse to watch the D*sney remakes because they're all soulless cash-grabs. But, I also admit that I have never been as attached to any of the Mouse movies as much as I have been with HTTYD. One of my friends asked me why I am not happy with this because he knows I love the series. So here is my little rant and reasons as to why I am dreading this so much.
1) Did the fans ask for this?? No. It's not as simple as, "just don't watch it". When this movie inevitably makes a ton of new changes (like all live action remakes) those changes will become actual canon. Whatever changes are made will affect what we know about the world of Berk and the characters of it. We as a fandom, have done a pretty good job of appreciating these characters for who they are and the story for what it is and growing it through some pretty great head cannons. Well, guess what, that could all change. Whoopie doo!
2) The degradation of Animation. Animation is an art form. Not a genre. It is a medium. Yet, time and time again it is presented as something childish and something that cannot be taken seriously. (I've recently had an argument with my friend because he thinks he's much too mature to watch animated movies). Each and every-time an animated movie is remade, it is a slap to the face of every animator who worked their butts off to make it as beautiful as possible. And in an effort to make the remakes more realistic, they are often washed out and use bland colors. Can you imagine the unholy offspring we'll get with Toothless and the other dragons when they are made "realistic"??
Let's appreciate scenes like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and this
Tumblr media
or this
Tumblr media
also, can't forget about the hidden world,
Tumblr media
these scenes are GORGEOUS. They are not realistic, why should they be?? This is a series about dragons, not taxes, it doesn't have to be realistic. The colors, the textures, every element works together, beautifully.
Some honorable mentions: the scene in HTTYD 2, when Stoick is walking into the blacksmith shop,,, the way the light shines on him as he walks... ugghh BEAUTIFUL
the sand on the beach in THW when Toothless is drawing a picture of the Light Fury, I swear that sand is real. The animators went HARD and for what?? for the company to come in only a few short years later and decide that it is too unrealistic or not valid enough as an art form?? i'd be pretty upset.
3) This will cause unnecessary trends on social media. (This is specifically a rant that stems from my own lack of confidence, sorry in advance) Look, I hate to say it, but I naturally gatekeep stuff. I like to feel unique and like my interests are my own, so it pains me when the internet will find something niche that I love and ruin it with unnecessary trends. For example, I love Avatar, (yes... the "blue one" :/). So for years, the fandom was kinda controlled, I appreciated the artwork and content from real fans and honestly I liked when nobody even really knew the Avatar fandom was still going strong. But, with the release of The Way of Water, all of a sudden, everyone on TikTok and Instagram became the biggest fans ever or at least pretended to be. One of my friends is an aspiring makeup artist and she did the Na'vi look despite never having seen either movie. All of a sudden, this special thing I was interested in, blew up. That is what is going to happen to this fandom at least for a while. I won't be able to find real fans because everyone will just post all kinds of things and create new trends using John Powell's music. I'm all about getting new fans and being welcoming to actual fans. But it won't be all fans, it'll just be content creators needing to stick with the trends. People who haven't seen any of the HTTYD films since they were children are going to act like they've been waiting for this moment their entire lives. Idk, I'm kinda cynical, if you couldn't tell. I truthfully like ppl actually becoming fans and I don't want to discourage that, but I don't want to lose the real fans to the internet trends. and I am afraid that I will. At least for a few months after the release.
4) Dreamworks only really exists as a middle-finger to Disney. With Disney really sucking it up with their live actions in the past few years, and Dreamworks KILLING it with their new and exciting animated movies (Puss in Boots anyone??), I really thought they would continue trying to capitalize on honing their skills as animators. But, it makes sense that Dreamworks is trying their hand at something Disney does, but trying to make it better. I actually think Dreamworks will be better. I mean, we still got Dean DeBlois, which is a major win. Plus, in general, Dreamworks tends to take their time and create something actually good. So, I don't think the quality will be the problem, I just wish they wouldn't stoop to Disney's level.
5) We're wasting time instead of making a new work. Okay, let's say that Dreamworks HAS to create a live-action film. Create a new story. We wrapped up HTTYD with a pretty bow, now, let them sleep. Leave the story alone so you don't f- it up. Because as we all know, the more you f- around, the more you find out.
Look, as I said earlier, I don't think it will be crap quality or even a bad movie. I'm glad we get Dean DeBlois again and I really think that is going to make a huge difference. I'm not even upset by the casting of Hiccup and Astrid. I just don't want to lose one of my favorite franchises to watch it become a deflated, boring, bland reenactment that continues to be just another cash-grab. It makes me genuinely sad.
As long as the series is over, I feel like nothing can touch it. Nothing can ruin it. But, the second it is resurrected from the dead, it becomes fair play for anyone on the internet to regurgitate it and ruin the magic and now, this entire fandom is at the mercy of a few writers and one big corporation determined to one-up the competition as well as content creators looking for a new trend to get-in on.
Anyways, I love that as a fandom, we're all still here. I am proud that y'all are still making art and fanfics (keep going, pls). If we stick together, we can weather this storm. And maybe, if we all cross our fingers, we might get a decent new movie that is fun to watch and is respectful to the original material and is something us fans can approve of.

RIDERS OF BERK | HTTYD SERIES | BREAKING DOWN HICCUP
Blog Post Series : Breaking Down Hiccup
Title : In Dragons we Trust | Alvin and the Outcasts
Ep/Season : Episode 5 & 6, Season 1 (Riders of Berk)
Premise(s) :
Mildew sets out get rid of the dragons. As usual. Alvin the Treacherous, a long term enemy of Berk has now ceased the opportunity to appear and kidnap the dragon conqueror for himself, much to his surprise.
THE OPENING SCENE
The opening sequence of Episode 5 is cathartic. When Hiccup free falls, there is such freedom and release. He glides in the air with such ease. The artistic direction of the show is refined. Hiccup is the bravest in the sky, and ironically, somewhat uncomfortable on land. He is himself with Toothless, or in a better way put - more himself. But without Toothless, he is always placed in a position of finding himself.
Tumblr media
Episode 5 and 6 is exactly that. We know that Mildew’s scheme to get rid of the dragons succeeds at the end of Episode 5. And Hiccup is now looking for an opportunity to get Toothless back and bring him home. The struggle now begins as Hiccup has to find his strength in the absence of his best friend.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
HICCUP HORRENDOUS HADDOCK III
At the start of Episode 5, we are made aware of the dynamic of Hiccup in the village. There is now no disputing that he is Stoic’s heir. I’d like to think that the village was worried having Hiccup as chief initially. He’s scrawny, tiny, couldn’t/wouldn’t kill a dragon. He didn’t fit the Viking mould. Even Stoic was concerned. But after the battle with the Red Death, no one can fault Hiccup’s stubbornness and bravery. His courage was unmatched. His compassion greater than the scale of his measure and his understanding even larger.
Tumblr media
So, when we go into Riders of Berk, Hiccup is undisputedly next in line. This is reflected in what Stoic tells Hiccup in Episode 5 “all eyes are upon you son, whatever those beast do reflects on you AND whatever you do reflects on ME.”
RELATIONSHIP DYNAMIC
FATHER-SON & CHIEF
Hiccup is trying to prove himself. And while Stoic has done better after the events of the 1st movie, in terms of parenting, he still struggles to divide his position as chief and his role as father. This context is often a topic when we follow a storyline involving royalties and their heirs.
Stoic doesn’t want to disappoint his son, but he must also protect his village, which is allegedly being ruined by something his son loves the most and believes are innocent.
The question of trust is still a running theme between father and son.
And the notion of whether Hiccup is a worthy leader hangs lightly in the air.
The living situation between dragons and Vikings is still precarious.
HICCUP X ASTRID
Tumblr media
I can’t not talk about them. When Hiccup was contemplating the series of unfortunate events, he starts to believe that Mildew set everything up. After they leave the dragons on Dragon Island, Astrid, sad and upset looks for him. I notice that the two of them, in the earlier days of friendship, often sought each other for support (as they will continue to do into their relationship).
At the same time, Hiccup confides in Astrid the possibility of Mildew’s treason. She has always been his voice of reason. A great listener. She doesn’t nudge him towards the impulsive but is wise in her counsel, letting him make his own decisions, but reminding him to calculate them. We know they grew up together, but the grew together as well, if you get what I’m saying.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This reminds of the final movie, when Gobber pesters Astrid to marry him. It is because he knows that Astrid makes Hiccup better. Even Valka acknowledges that he listens to her. There will always be a Hiccup and Astrid.
HICCUP V ALVIN THE TREACHEROUS
Alvin the Treacherous (voiced by Mark Hamill might I add 🙌🏼) is Hiccup’s first enemy. I get that Mildew might be considered the first, but he wasn’t a real threat to Berk (yet).
Tumblr media
Something Hiccup proves very well, is that he is brave. He isn’t stupidly audacious, like Snotlout, who when push comes to shove might run away from the challenge (though arguably Snotlout gets better towards the end).
He is also very clever. He chooses his battles and uses psychology to outwit his enemies, instead of brute strength, which most of them would have more than him anyways.
HEROIC STORY LINES
UNDERRATED ROMANTIC | CHIVALRY AIN’T DEAD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hiccup heroically shows up just when Astrid needs him. I love these little touches. Hiccup continues to prove himself to be nothing like “Stoic’s little embarrassment.”
Hiccup tries to trick Alvin. Astrid catches on quickly (proving their inward connection) and plays along w his plan. We know that this rouse may not fly if it was put against the twins or Snotlout, who may not get the idea immediately and Fishlegs would be too nervous to act it out well.
HICCUP’S BRAVERY
Was it stupid to let Alvin take him hostage? Yes, but Hiccup was unafraid. And didn’t even flinch while captive. He grows a lot in these two episodes. I love that his size holds no comparison to his courage.
BATTLE STRATEGY IMPROVES
While Alvin will prove to be a lesser evil than the demons that will soon chase him in later seasons, Hiccup and the way he manoeuvres Toothless on the battle field will improve and match up w the evil at hand. The turns he makes when battling Alvin is a little clumsy and out of touch, but this will change as he practices and progresses in the story. I like that they made it look that way, as opposed to Hiccup just naturally knowing how to fight w Toothless by his side. I appreciate the growth they’re trying to lay out here.
Likewise, the way the riders work as a team will also progress. The other’s seemingly irrelevant rattlings will prove useful, and Hiccup will learn to be a leader, team player and friend to them and they to him.
CONCLUSION
I loved how Stoic faced off Alvin. Punishing him for taking Hiccup. Which shows off his tenacity, strength and love for his son.
I like how though Mildew wasn’t outed, he didn’t need to be. It’s like a lesson in “things don’t always work out the way you want it to and justice isn’t always served independent of evidence". But when you do the right thing, things will workout, and that’s exactly what happened.
I love that at the end of the episodes, the village cheered on the dragon riders sparking on a desire to let them stay and tolerate a free roaming dragon city.

@audriegreywind requested that I make a Nine Realms version of the "summarising every HTTYD movie/special/episode" post that I made ages ago so:
SUMMARISING EVERY EPISODE OF THE NINE REALMS

Razorwhip absolutely BLAZING IT fr
Skrill leaving the Crystal Meth Realm like the soul leaving my body during my first watch of Return of Thor Bonecrusher
It would be really funny if they used the Monstrous Nightmare gel as an adhesive and then the gel got wet and absorbed the water and became flammable again and then Tom had got lit on fire in the Blaze-It Realm and he'd burned alive and died, I think that would be hysterical
We were gonna get shirtless Hiccup. We were gonna get shirtless ASTRID. We are DESPERATE to see shirtless Viggo. But THIS is what we get???
The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate-
DeAngelo almost recreates the Austin serial bombings
The Hidden World is just Australia clearly

Bruhhh we need whatever these kids were getting high on after this shitshow, I don't feel that it's morally right to even remind people that this episode exists
🙋‍♂️ I wanna teach Viggo how to ride "dragons" (Yes I did watch Audrie's reviews instead of the actual TV show in order to make this list, how did you know?)
MA! MA, THERE'S A FUCKIN' STRAY CAT OUTSIDE-

I won't be updating this list until Audrie posts her TNRS6 review because I'd rather wait and give her the views than go watch TNRS6 now and give Universal money.

I love how Soren sees the dragon and is immediately like: ✨️friends✨️? Big puppy energy. Looks so innocent!! Well that didn't go well.
No-one looking for Soren? Yikes. Wow Rayla took you long enough lmao. Not like he didn't come home last night!
Whatcha doing? while Ezran's discovering he's the new spiderman.
Zubeia will not be pleased.
Finally some thought to the freaking anonymous elf!! Did i mention how much i am loving the accent? Because yes.
Lmao Raylaa
Tumblr media
What is this????
Tumblr media
Like ig there was a different light source and they changed it later but does no-one watch this like, I dunno, a thousand times before it's released??
My distracted ass had to go make these gifs mid episode because why not. And this was my first time making one so when i clicked the tick and it didn't appear as an option in my videos from gallery i tried again. And again. And again. Then realised i had four of them in the gallery. So yeah. That happened.
Anyway continuing my watch. Lmaoo not even 6 minutes. Oops...
Poor Bait getting knocked overr. And again why can Ez see through Zym's eyes? Will we ever know?
Amaya it is not just a fricking candlee. Like I love you but show some respect please. Okay that escalated quickly. Is there no way to like, give the elf some comfort or something that doesn't involve killing? Like yes i actually get why death would be an appropriate punishment cause in their eyes extinguishing that candle is prolly worse than killing someone cause if u kill they still get to the afterlife but. I think the focus should also be on the elf and doing sth for his benefit?
Um i guess earthblood elves don't know he's the dragon prince? Cause otherwise they have some serious trouble coming. Is Callum going to save the day? This blackout transition was a bit unusual. Looked fine but not really their style?
Are we getting some info on elven politics? Masked guys? This little smile thing between Karim and one of Six Horns... he did some bribing? Hope not cause this could turn ugly. It prolly will who am i lying to.
'Don't u remember who u are' felt a little forced to me. They often have those inspiring speeches that don't feel like they belong there. Why isn't Callum flying around looking for Zym? And why wasn't he their 'eyes' to begin with?
The kiddo is back again! Kinda didn't like that was all we saw of him so welcome back!
Karim u little shit. I don't yet know what he's planning but i feel it in my bones it ain't nothing good. Best case he just wants them gone from Xadia. Hopefully.
Why did that elf go after Rayla? Because they are so-called protectors? That little Bait smile lmaooo. Another gif incoming.
Tumblr media
I am a pro now.
Anyway.
Amaya on the side of the elves yes please. But i think she'll do the same Karim did with some kind of I dunno. Not clearing her of guilt completely but sth. Yess compassionate justice pleasee. I feel like they won't listen cause it'd be too good to be true but still. Prolly Karim bribing people won't help. Still not sure if he did.
This catching dragons really reminds me of HTTYD. This boy is the next Hiccup. N'than i love youuu.
Damn for a moment i really thought she'll cut her hands off. Ig that wouldn't really belong on screen but i thought the same for blood so...
this was so good!! I loved it! I actually cried Just hope Janai didn't undermine herself and look weak in the eyes of other elves. I feel like this was also more realistic so they didn't escalate things for no reason. Just show them all trying to get along. Sometimes successfully, other times less so. In love with how Janai said compassion
This entire scene was a masterpiece idc. How the architect broke down crying from relief and stress, the shrine idea, how the elf subtly accepted this as retribution, how it drove a divide between Karim and Janai, how logical the punishment was, it will be the greatest work of my life... just. Peak animation.
I knew it! The Pit of Despair, answer to all our prayers.
Will Karim and Janai fix things or will Karim not be understanding? Again a pretty scene, and Karim doesn't look hostile so far so yayy
I wanted to ask before but how long did Rayla and Soren actually knew each other? Cause i was under the impression that Rayla left practically at the end of se3 but Soren acted like they were kinda close earlier and now Rayla sounds really distressed?
Ohh Karimm lover boyy! Is he going to usurper her? Really?
Lmaoo Soren late to the party😂😂 omgg they're so cuteeee! ✨️friends✨️ for real now

I wish Tdp got even half the attention Toh gets
Yeah, it's one of those shows where it's good, but not particularly spectacular. I get why it has that reputation among fans and why the fanbase is so large (more thoughts on that here & why i think the show has resonated so much with teens good and bad - and honestly like, good for them! I've just been past that stage in my life for a while now, if I was ever there at all) but it's... just not that different from anything else on TV. It has a lot of tropes from Gravity Falls, isekai in general (overlap with Amphibia, which I liked a lot better), I can't speak to "little witch academia" but I've seen that mentioned a lot...
There were like 3-4 episodes in S1 just centred on the "character A lies to save face but then the truth comes out, oh no!" plot line about the importance of being honest with your friends and true to yourself and it's... again, not bad, I've just seen all of it before and in better executed ways
For example: one of the things I really appreciated about Amphibia was the level of worldbuilding as well as the framing even of the initial episode, where we're planted (pun intended) in Sprig's POV of viewing Anne (the human) first, rather than the traditional trope of it being humans looking in on 'outsiders' and the show kept up this really refreshing aspect throughout tbh
In terms of queer rep “Dead End: Paranormal Park” has my favourite as a trans queer person in terms of being explicit and actually talking about the feelings that come with being queer across multiple characters (going to the gym as a trans person, dealing with an accepting but flawed family, changing family dynamics and perception of itself and explicitly how queerness affects that) rather than living in a sort of normalized limbo... whereas something like TDP is purely normalized, so it’s not trying to have its cake and eat it too. It knows how to pick its formation and stick with it
One of the things I also appreciate the most about TDP is how much it feels like it's pushing boundaries - the large scale epic battle in 3x09, pushing ethical issues, its consistent discussions of grief. It reminds me of how much ATLA reset things when it came out in the early 2000s, and TDP possibly doing something similar as it also builds on the last 15+ years of how much kids' animation has changed.
But yeah my feelings with TOH can be summed up as "when it's good, it's fine; when it's great, it's genuinely great" as well as video comps of Luz saying "This mama is ready for trauma" followed by the show's sadder / scarier scenes and there are... barely any (like maybe 1 minute or so's worth, although that might change with S3 coming out). Mostly because I was like "Oh maybe I could make a similar comp for TDP" and then realized just how much work that would be because there are so many genuinely devastating scenes, even in early s1. I'm also trying to think of if something like TDP in terms of its timeskips has been done very often in Western animation in the past decade outside of (young justice reboot?) the HTTYD franchise, and I don't think so
We just don't tend to get a lot of epic sprawling fantasy worlds in TV outside of a handful (Witcher, GOT, etc) and even fewer made for kids. I'll always appreciate how hard TDP commits to a more serious, serialized tone and examination of trauma/grief head on, as well as the quality of its worldbuilding and juggling of its ensemble cast

So I know I haven’t been all that vocal about this aside from the occasional reblog, but I’m not the biggest fan of HTTYD The Hidden World. I do need to make a full-on post as to why I was unappreciative, but I would like to give a short version. At least what didn’t sit right with me the most.
The ending. Where we see that final intimate moment where Hiccup’s and Toothless’ foreheads are pressed together, and we see the reversal of the scene that hit us hard the most. Them drawing away from each other.
I knew from before, that the ending was supposed to parallel the ending of the HTTYD books. But I abhorred the execution of it.
I’d seen interviews before, where Dean Deblois said himself that ever since they found out the ending of the book series, he wanted the franchise to end the same way. The last book was released here in the States in 2015. Just a year after HTTYD 2, and right at eve of release of Race to the Edge.
But I feel that the way it was structured was absolutely horrendous.
The battle to rescue all the imprisoned dragons and liberate Toothless and the Light Fury, Hiccup saying that humans didn’t deserve dragons, I wanted to tear my hair out.
Because even if you don’t change a single detail of the battle, I hold to this belief and it is rooted.
They always had the capacity of ending it EXACTLY like the books. In that where the dragons didn’t have to leave, but did so anyway. But Hiccup vowed to protect them in his lifetime.
Yes, before I get pummeled, the franchise can be considered a different universe compared to the books. Lemme remind you, Deblois said himself as I wrote above, he wanted these endings to be similar.
The books were a completely different circumstance. The protagonist was Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. The franchise one may bear the same name but not an explanation as to his predecessors. Closest we get is in Riders of Berk with the episode of “Portrait of Hiccup as a Buff Man”, which gives us that an ancestor of Hiccup’s was indeed a runt as well, although he probably came to change his name.
The series indeed had higher stakes then the events of THW. From Book 9 to Book 12, it was a FREAKING WAR. Between dragons and humans. Either the humans are exterminated, or the dragons. Hiccup was caught in the middle, considered a traitor by both sides. And how it drew its close? The race to find the King’s Things. Hiccup being crowned King of the Wilderwest, living on the island of Tomorrow.
The dragons coming to back down after Furious, the leader of the dragons as the alpha, a Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus who had been raised alongside Hiccup Horrendous Haddock II, had been killed. Hiccup the Third and the second-in-command, a white-scaled dragon named Luna, came to negotiations. Hiccup had undergone all of these trials, been proven king, and he vowed that he would protect the dragons as long as he was alive.
Why? Because as the history of the three Hiccup’s had proved, dragons and humans would always be at odds, always be a fragile peace. After Hiccup the Third had passed, it could happen anew that dragons would become slaves to humans. Three Hiccups, spanned over hundreds of years, displayed that the peace between them could not be held.
That’s what the series was. Hiccup had written his memoirs of what he had undergone in his life that led to it. How as he came to old age the dragons gradually came to disappear, retreating to the depths of the earth. How one day he knew not even Toothless would return. The memoirs were left, for in the future when the dragons would assuredly return. To use what he had written to bring about a peace that would hold more solidly.
To bring it back to the franchise, think about it. Hiccup might as very well have done the same. His little narration at the beginning of nearly everything. For HTTYD 1, Gift of the Night Fury, Riders of Berk, Race to the Edge, HTTYD 2. He is telling us his story of what he endured for six years.
Then THW omits the little narration. Sure there’s the This is Berk, but this was for the dragons they’d rescued, not just for us viewers. When Grimmel gets to Toothless and the Light Fury and the other dragons are forced into the warlords’ cages, these are not the high stakes as presented in book series. Then it takes a pep talk from Hiccup, and it takes six young adults in dragon suits to rescue tons of dragons. The dragons joining in and smiting their captors.
Their ships went down easier than the Dragon Hunters! In RTTE it was dodging arrows along with weapons that could not be obliterated with mere dragon fire. It was three separate dragons, and at one point there was even an extent where even the damn ships were dragonproof. In THW the dragons literally bust through the cages on their own. I could go on but my point is the warlords were far too easy to defeat compared to other adversaries.
They defeated them so easily, yet Hiccup still told Toothless that the dragons had to go. The Hidden World was a safe enough sanctuary for them. He just proved, everything else from the past six years as proof too, that they could fight to make sure dragons were never oppressed.
That’s why him saying they had to go, seemed too out of character for me. The fact of six years of fighting, that the warlords seemed like a simple battle compared to others. Hiccup could have made that same promise as his book counterpart. To vow to protect the dragons as long as he lived.
I want to wager to say that there’s small hints of others trying to instigate peace as well. Before Hiccup’s time. I don’t have enough to say the Hiccups before him, but that at least other Vikings tried. The Book of Dragons short, Bork wrote the book just like the Riders had done. He didn’t write about the best way to kill them.
Also, the Riders of Berk episode I mentioned before, “Portrait of Hiccup as a Buff Man”. What did Hamish accomplish that he felt the need to even hide the fact that he was a hiccup, born small just like Hiccup the Third. We don’t even know if he could be the second or the first. Then I do have another post on this, somewhat wild but I tried to find some kind of rationality. But the creation of the Dragon Eye. I still find it hard to believe that it was created for the hunters to hunt dragons down. Its creation and what it pertains exceedingly sounds like Bork and his book of dragons.
Anyway, that’s what it seems like. Six years of wanting dragons to be free, coming to be that a young man who was called a Dragon Master decided to stop fighting and had the dragons retreat to the depths of the earth. When there was a possibility in front of them.

Okay, so, I just finished watching the new live-action One Piece last night.
I gotta say… I LOVED IT!
The choreography, the sets, the acting, the actors themselves and the makeup and costuming departments did phenomenally well!
Apparently, it was filmed in South Africa? Correct me if I’m wrong.
I think Sanji is my favorite
For someone that hasn’t actually watched the anime or read the manga (I mean I’ve seen it around but I was always too invested in something else to really start), this series was a wonderful introduction and has made me consider watching the anime just to see what the live action left out.
You know, for context. Though the live action did a great job at giving us that too.
From what I’ve gathered, each episode is an arc in the anime/manga, culminating in them finally making for the Grand Line. This means each episode is almost an hour long, but it’s definitely worth it.
Zef kinda makes me think of a cross between Gordon Ramsay and Gobber from Httyd. I feel like the former was intentional.
I like Luffy’s new accent and fluffy hair
Usopp and Kaya are adorable!
I can’t really tell what Sanji’s accent is. Is it French, British or Swedish?
I actually watched it with my mom, and she said it kinda reminded her of the old Hercules and Xena show. I can honestly see the resemblance.
We also argued about whether Coby’s hair was purple or blonde. I thought it was purple (well, more of a lilac).
Zoro was awesome, Nami was cool (and NOT a girl-boss!) and Buffy was actually a good villain. He’s like their version of the Joker almost.
This show was a breath of fresh, salty air from all the woke bullcrap we’ve been getting from Hollywood and other big-name media. I just hope that any other adaptations (anime, manga and video games) in the future can be made with just as much quality and care.
They’re likely going to have to CG Choppy if and when they get to him.
These are just my opinions and observations about the show

ohmygod, a Sam drabble where his s/o tries to style his hair into whatever Hiccup has going on in the second/later httyd film/episodes? because I'm a sucker for that hairstyle and now just imagine trying your best to do that to someone.
Yes absolutely, but now that we’re on the topic: John B with that hairstyle.
That’s all I’m gonna say lol
Tumblr media
“I really think my hair is too short to pull this off,” Sam stated dryly, but he let you be anyway.
“Probably,” you admitted, running your fingers through another failed attempt at a braid, “but I’m nothing if not determined.”
Sam coughed. “Stubborn.”
You flicked his forehead before starting over. “Do I have to remind you that this was your idea? All because of a kids’ movie and your inability to braid.”
He rolled his eyes fondly. “I’d have admitted defeat a long time ago.”
“And that’s the difference between you and me,” you replied, wrapping the tiny elastic around the end of what had to be the most ridiculous braid ever. You pressed a quick kiss to his hairline. “I never give up.”
Sam pulled out his phone to check his reflection in the dark screen, before promptly bursting into laughter. “That looks nothing like the guy in the movie!”
“No, you look absolutely ridiculous,” you agreed, unable to hold in your laughter. “But it worked, didn’t it?”
“I wouldn’t say this is working. For anyone.”
It only made you laugh harder.

Random Thoughts With Me 2: Electric Boogaloo
Without school, I just sit here waiting for a response from the "I DEMAND AND NEED ANSWERS RIGHT NOW" post and do near nothing with the rest of the "httyd class as pokemon types" posts.
I had know idea what I was doing trying to redesign the Violet paradoxes besides Moth, Treads, and Thorns.
Serial Designation-B(adger) Quotes: "If I so much as breath on an organism, in Copper-9, it will end with a critical hit with enough power to overthrow a small government." "This worker drones are dumber than I am, and just a reminder, I have SUB-BRICK INTELLIGENCE." (They are literally going to die from their own stupidity, no Disassembly Drones required)
We know that Cyn's "Absolute Solver" form was animated like Glados, but is there a correlation. Glados hates birds because she was attacked by a crow. In episode 4, Uzi takes the form of a crow to help take Cyn down. Coincidence? I think maybe.
Speaking of Cyn, I have connected dots that shouldn't be there. Cyn's speaking pattern is similar to Dr. Letzshake's from No More Heros. They are both death machines who say their expressions out loud with monotones. Here is an example. *Letzshake just destroyed an untold amount of adversaries in one shot* "Visual sensors suggest carnage levels satisfactory. Who is my next victim. Question mark." *Player character appears* "Surprised gasp."
As a wee lad, I thought there was a connection between Blast Zone and the Gear Golems, especially Fire Gear Golem. I can't be the only one. They are both floating pieces of humanoid armor with their elements flowing though them and has masculine voices. They were also introduced in the same game.
Also as a wee lad, I had a red toy motorcycle that I loved. It looked like a dinosaur or dragon and it had a gun in its mouth, so I imagined it transforming like a transformer. More recently, I thought it was lost media, since I didn't see it anywhere else and the springs where the batteries go were missing, so I had no idea what it sounded like. A few days ago, I learned it was a motorcycle toy from Power Rangers: Dino Thunder. I don't blame myself for not knowing. I grew up on Samurai, Mega Force, Super Mega Force, Dino Charge, and Super Sentai Go-onger.

Oh my god THANK YOU. I actually forgot about the ao3 thing and you reminded me to check <3
So I checked, and I actually got the invite!! My username is drargongeek_writes12
I've got couple ideas actually, I'm hoping to spend some time writing for all of the gang bc I feel like they're never all properly included in fics (or not often anyway) idk if I'll have any longer fics just yet unless I get a really good idea lol
Couple ideas -
Snoggletog on the Edge (they were there for a year WHY wasn't there an episode for it fuck)
I got a request for Snotlout & Hookfang bonding stuff that I"m very excited to write, I definitely plan to get on that
Maybe the gang dealing with the aftermath of HTTYD 3 for sure
Different members getting hurt and the rest of the gang being protective?
Idk these are just some ideas lol

DreamWorks Dragons: The Nine Realms liveblog S2 E1 Uniconned
It’s going to be a unicorn dragon isn’t it.
Okay look. That thing’s face is creepy. Whenever you try to babyify something, it turns out looking bad to me. Overbig eyes in front of face, bulbous skull, etc. Not cute. Though I do like the concept of a unicorn dragon, including the bubble horn where the bubbles are prolly filled with inflammatory gases. That’s fun.
Okay so learning more about Jun’s family. That’s cool. Glad some characters have siblings here (and we know a vague hint of where her dad is). But. Her brother is like...... if a really lame, reject wannabe Elvis Presley went gothpunk. I’m already not liking him.
Yeah I really don’t like him. Reminds me of this kid in elementary who was the worst-behaved kid in class. Every teacher every year told his mom he was a capital B Buttocks. But because he acted like a darling around his mommy, she didn’t believe the feedback. Ever. Frustrating as farting butts.
There’s one thing I like about him, though: his eyes were designed the right color. Aka: Design 101.
You know they’re not going to be brave enough to do it, but the unicorn dragon should bond with Eugene and he becomes obsessed with it and he joins Dragon Club.
Also I’ve decided I’m interpreting this entire episode as an analog to Leela meeting Nibbler. I MEAN COME ON. **NIBBLES**
Them both acting like there’s tons going on when it’s just a few crumbs on the counter and vicinity is hilarious.
I have never hated a dragon as I do Nibbles. It’s the design.
The scream isn’t that scary or bizarre. It’s just like. A wolf howl.
I do appreciate they’re letting Jun be weird, tho.
D’Angelo’s obsession with rules is adorable. Also him pulling a sneaker out of the trash and smelling it. Yes. That’s what I do everyday, too.
I’m sorry words like “bubble blast” are hard to take seriously. Are we in My Little Pony?
This convo about “Have you ever done something you regretted?” is too shallow of dialogue for what it should be and what their reactions are.
Eugene: I always knew you’d follow me to the dark side. Jun, ominously: How could I help myself? Pfffft.
Raiding a storage closet is not a big rebellious gesture. C’monnnnnnnnnnn, writers. Don’t water this down. Let him actually be delinquent.
You could almost say the Loops make him... [eyebrow wiggles] ...loopy
Okay, now that’s a banshee screech. That’s better than the earlier one.
The entire time Jun obsesses over the dragon and D’Angelo gets offended, I’m like, “YOU GO, D, YOU GO.”
That “something” coming up from the fissure is going to be like mom or a ton of them.
Oh look, it’s a ton of them.
Okay the ridiculous music and the ridiculous circus of dragons is good chaos. (Also, ever since they introduced that weird music, I was thinking, “Does this belong in HTTYD or UT?”)
Alex is forever best character
I adore how they combine their bubbles together
The Ultimate Bubble Bomb
I mean, are we going to talk about, “Wild animals can take care of themselves?”
Eugene is where he belongs. Keep him there.

what’s your favorite song(s)?
figosh. okay. well first off that answer changes every two weeks but if i had to answer:
never been in love by will jay. aro anthem. i love it so much.
better than one by the score. i also just like the score in general. this clashes greatly with never been in love but i feel like this is a very Duo song and it works platonically. (a/n: it’s not on spotify/apple music, only youtube)
monody by TheFatRat. it’s such a mood and it’s so perfect for getting lost in fantasies. i put it on loop for an hour and come out of hyperfocus with ten new ideas or another few hundred words written easily. it’s a perfect fantasy vibe. also it reminds me of httyd.
burn the house down, come hang out, and i’m not famous by ajr. nothing to say i just like the songs.
Ready As I’ll Ever Be from Tangled. another fic song. like. this song literally sent me on a weeklong tangled the series rabbithole dive (read: I watched the episodes with varian in them and binged fanfic til 2 am)
you’re welcome from moana for the lols because i know all the words just because moana was my favorite movie when i was younger and i kept thinking of it every time somebody said you’re welcome to the point where my friends and i all know the words and i cannot forget them.
how bad can i be from the lorax, shiny from moana, and be prepared from the lion king because i am a sucker for villain songs. no these are not the best villain songs but they are disney villain songs and therefore i have known them for years and they are special.
finally, gosh i cannot pick a favorite but i love owl city. i guess if i had to choose one i’d go with embers, gold, or fireflies- SEE I CAN’T PICK.

11? (for the otherkin ask game)
Otherkin Ask Meme (Still Open)
'What are some things that remind you of your kintype(s)?'
Tumblr media
For my light fury kintype:
-Glitter and anything that has a sparkle to it, especially make-up and face paints, but also includes certain geodes, fabrics, and even the light glistening off of snow.
-Anything actually light fury! Such as watching the HTTYD 3 movie (lots of things I do dislike about this movie though) and collecting figures and plushes of the light fury.
-Fish dishes!
-Drives to the mountains and being near waterfalls.
For my shiny tapu koko kintype:
-Anything tropical~
-Summertime and hot/humid weather.
-Hawaii-related
-Actual tapu koko-related stuff such as watching Pokemon, playing the games, or collecting merch and cards.
-Flowery and tropical-themed clothing.
Lastly, for my singetail kintype:
-Anything relating to actual singetails, such as watching any HTTYD RTTE episodes they're in.
Since this is a new kintype for me, I'm still learning what I can utilize to help me connect with them more~

I just finished hilda and the mountain king and i feel like crying. The series has always given me the most coziest, warm and nostalgic vibes but this movie knocked it out the park- it was predictable but still tension filled and gut wrenching with the way all the characters go through emotional turmoil.
It really had me on the edge of my seat and tearing up when hilda and her mother reunited too, it was so lovely :( Its always beautiful to see how series like hilda which are mostly lighthearted episodes with occasional lore buildup finally get to the climax and we move to peaceful times. It reminds me of httyd or craig of the creek! Its amazing and my favourite kind of cartoon.
In summary of this silly ramble, go watch hilda the series and then the movie! Cannot wait for season 3

After hearing a number of comments about Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous from @drakaina-amore64‘s Tumblr, finally decided to give it a watch, and so last night, I binged the entire first season of it and intend to keep watching it when I have the time. In order to make it more readable, I have decided to break up my thoughts by character. Be warned, there may be spoilers.
First off, Yasmina. When watching I found that I related to her the most, having hidden some of the things that I enjoyed, and when she was hurt, I was able to sympathize. During the over 8 years that I have been doing martial arts, I have received countless injuries, and seeing Yaz keep going after that was very impressive.
Second is Darius. With Darius, I did not find that I related quite so well, but he did remind me of an old friend that I haven’t seen in about 5 years at this point. He was similarly fixated on dinosaurs, and had an absolutely massive amount of knowledge on Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, and HTTYD, reminding me very much of Hiccup as well.
Next comes Kenji. For the first few episodes, I was absolutely certain that he would die from doing something stupid, and I am almost ashamed to admit that I was kind of looking forward to it. After those first few episodes, I found that he had some more redeeming qualities, almost reminding me of Snotlout in a way. Very full of himself and not necessarily the smartest, but still possessing redeeming qualities, even if they don’t come out very often.
For Ben, I spent the first few episodes wondering why he was even on the island in the first place, considering his very timid nature, but it did make more sense after the monorail scene, and I feel like he did overcome his fears near the end. When he fell, I was almost certain that he was going to be the first one to die, but seeing him coming back made me wonder how that would bode for the rest. I expect it to be quite interesting.
For Brooklyn, I was not necessarily impressed by her at first, finding her a bit like Kenji, though showing more intelligence. I did not feel like anything bad would happen to here, but more that she was just there. After she and Kenji talked on the kayak, I felt like she redeemed herself some by letting go of her grudge against Sammy, and after holding quite a few grudges before, I certainly understand how hard it can be to do that.
Sammy was a bit of an interesting character to me, especially with the revelation that she was a spy. I feel like she did a fairly good job of blending in, and I could feel her self-hatred about the trouble she caused. I do however feel like she tried her best to fix her mistakes, and I must admit that it takes a big person to do so. She is one of those characters that I will be keeping an eye on in the future and I look forward to seeing how she does.
Now comes Dave. At that point, I honestly don’t feel like there is much to say about him, other than that he almost serves as comic relief with the serious surroundings, but he does have a good heart under it all, and I am curious to see what he ends up doing.
Finally, we have Roxie. I feel like she is probably the most driven and responsible person so far, having done her very best to keep things from going badly, and I feel sort of bad for her. I don’t know what will happen with her, but I get the distinct feeling that she will not stay away from the island for long.
Now I have a few impressions from the overall show. First off, I am disappointed in the people who tried to bring Jurassic Park back after the previous disasters, as well as them playing with life and creating things like the Indominus Rex. Next, as a lockpicker, I personally found that the way that the locks were picked was very far from reality, although it is still an animated show, so I can’t necessarily hold it against them. Next is fact that they should have had much better locks if a teenager with a bobby pin is able to pick them. If they chose the right lock, it shouldn’t even have been possible to fit a bobby pin in the keyway. Another thing that sort of puzzled me is how Toro was even able to fit in the service tunnels. The fact that a dinosaur that large could fit leads me to wonder how well thought out the park was, alongside the fact that a service tunnel hatch was located inside of an enclosure which is just asking for something to go wrong. In regards to the tunnels, I also feel like they should have removed the dock sign, though I do see its importance to the plot. It honestly seems like a case of laziness not to remove the thing. The last thing is how they broke through the concrete wall. Coming from a physics standpoint, I honestly don’t feel like it was particularly realistic for the group to be unharmed by an explosion that put a hold in the concrete end of the tunnel, especially with their proximity. Still, important to the plot and not something I can really hold against them.
Despite all of this, I really do look forward to seeing what comes next in the series and hope to binge the next season today.
Note that this post may be edited as I watch each season.
