H2O Fandom, I'm sorry, I really am.
But please tell me I'm not wrong for thinking Gracie would go to bat for Charlotte had she lived during S2!?
Like, I'm partially baiting you guys but want some honest answers. Do you think any of all the girls' (+ Lewis's) behaviors would have played out if Gracie was on the scene, looking at Charlotte and saying "Tag me in, I got this!" before showing out - however a former mermaid in her 60s could?
Like, do I think she'd agree with all of Charlotte's behavior? Personally, no. Disappointing her would be the last thing Charlotte wanted. But do I think she would let all the stuff the girls were doing slide? Hell no! The dinner episode would have been it.
We all know S2 was mainly Cleo's arc with her comparisons to Gracie vs Gracie's living grandkid - so what would Cleo be looking like facing the elderly woman she's been compared to and getting reamed by her! And that definitely depends on what Charlotte had been telling her and well, how she reacts (is she calm and disapproving or is she as angry as a sea storm?) says it all but how Cleo feels afterwards might do some good. Why? Because in case some of you forgot, when Charlotte's worst crime was liking Lewis, not only did Cleo belittle her and make fun of her behind her back but wasn't above humiliating her or watching her be humiliated. Using her mermaid status as a superiority complex to feel better than Charlotte until she got her life back (powers under control, stable home life, Lewis). And that's not forgetting Rikki and Emma helped instead of telling her to stop, Lewis as well in his own way.
(Sorry Cleo fans, but you can't tell me you were okay with her behavior from another perspective!)
So yeah, Gracie lives to come back to the Gold Coast with her adult daughter and teenage granddaughter - may or may not suspect Charlotte might end up a mermaid - and hearing everything about Cleo and Lewis and then everything just falls into place when finding out a new batch of mermaids are around and one of them is beefing with her grandchild!? No way can I not imagine Gracie getting involved and humbling the crap out of everyone!
Gracie died, so her memory was told through memories of those who knew her and her keepsakes. But if she lived, she'd have control over her own narrative and maybe spill some things that perhaps Louise and Max left out.
She made her choice giving up being a mermaid and she'd make it clear why she did so. But that doesn't mean she's gonna sit back and let things get badly if she had any say about it!
(BTW, Gracie would definitely clear the dispute over her locket and I wouldn't be surprised if she told both girls to drop it if it's so much of a problem - maybe paralleling how she gave up being a mermaid because it was a problem.)

biography.
if there ever were two people who absolutely should be parents it's rowan's moms. their lovestory is one for the ages, as they had met in the australian wilderness, ciara an italian backpacking tourist and lauren the australian who saved her from some kind of poisonous snake ( or if you believe lauren a totally non-threatening, non-poisonous snake but she would only contest it if ciara isn't around ). what followed is neatly documented in the photo albums rowan grew up looking through, their mothers on their travels through the entire country, lauren having joined ciara for ' protection purposes '. one thing led to another and the two of them fell in love, something that was completely unthinkable, both with the distance and with ciara’s very catholic and conservative family back in italy. there were simply too many obstacles, it couldn’t work out, right ? with heavy hearts they said goodbye after almost an entire year spent constantly by each other’s sides. that is until, due to a sudden storm, ciara’s flight didn’t take off, leading them to have yet another conversation … after all, wasn’t this fate telling them not to part ? in the end ciara never left australia to go back to living in italy, instead taking the leap and staying in australia with the woman she excitedly calls the ‘ love of her life ‘ even to this day.
rowan was the last puzzle piece to their perfect little family, in addition to the two dogs, one cat and the stray duck all living with them as well. nobody really knows how the duck ended up there. they do know how rowan did though, after years of careful consideration she was about the most wished for child you could possibly imagine. and so she grew up, surrounded by love and support. that being said, for a while it wasn’t easy for rowan to cope with the harsher realities of life outside their little house. while at the delaney’s family home it was alright to express yourself and your feelings however you wanted, the outside world was less accepting of that. therefore school wasn't easy for her during the first years. rowan was a bit of an outsider during those years, spending most of their free time at home with the pets and their mothers. it wasn’t until she grew up some more that she found friends who would accept her as she was.
once those years came around however, her life was better than ever before. alongside their friends they spent a lot of time exploring the beaches and city around them. their mothers, being the free-spirited and encouraging women they were, mostly encouraged them in this, paying for their first surfing lessons right alongside the first acting classes. initially they had only signed up for those because a friend of theirs had. surprisingly enough though, rowan soon figured out that acting was something they were not only rather good at but also loved to do. though ciara would later say she never thought it to be all that surprising, with how much rowan had always loved listening to and sharing stories. especially during those younger, more lonely days, where it was mostly books keeping her company. the last years of high school were spent acting in local theater productions, having bonfires at the beach and surfing with their friends.
life was good for rowan during those times as she started considering what to do after school. it was at the beginning of her last year in high school when she saw an open audition for neighbors and decided to simply shoot her shot. never in a million years did they think this would actually lead them anywhere, that was until they got callback after callback, eventually sitting down to do chemistry reads. they were seventeen, a month into their final year when they got the official offer. sitting down with their parents, they debated. how would she finish school, when filming would take place in melbourne ?  was it even feasible ? could she move there on her own ? in the end they found a solution that had her living with a friend of the family in melbourne during filming, studying with a tutor when she was there and still attending school whenever she was in brisbane. it was a stressful year and it’s safe to say their final grades were not much to be proud of but they did it, they graduated. afterwards she was lucky enough for her minor role to stay permanent, gaining some importance in the show’s plotline, leading to her being able to continue to stay on the crew and work in melbourne.
they kept their very first television role on neigbors for about 3-4 years, before finally saying their goodbye to the australian soap. due to the relative prominence of the show in australian television, they had earned a decent level of exposure through it. in australia, this would have definitely lent itself to quickly gaining further job opportunities and she definitely debated this with her moms for quite some time. in the end it was them that pushed her to aim higher, to try her luck in the us and move to los angeles at 21. the move was probably the hardest thing ro has done to this day, leaving was tearful not only because they’d miss their family but also because they’d miss their home and they were fully aware they might just be leaving for nothing. for the past two years ro has mostly been getting very small appearances for an episode or three in multiple tv projects ( imagine patient on grey’s or a lost plotline in riverdale or smth, i’ll have to figure the exact projects out ). only recently did she get her first real breakthrough when she was cast as rikki in the reboot of h20: just add water, an australian classic ! they’re about to start filming season 1 and it’s safe to say that ro couldn’t be more excited, having been an avid viewer of the show as a kid.
tl;dr: basically she's born to two very loving lesbians whom i gave an unneccessarily sweet backstory. she grew up in australia, loves the oceans and animals and always had the loving support of her family. she started acting at 17 and moved to the us to further follow that career at 21. h2o is her first lead role.
headcanons.
rowan sometimes refers to the pets that were in the house while they grew up as if they were their siblings, which can be confusing to some people
ro’s style is very much sort of boho inspired, she loves cute knitted pieces and wide flowy pants and dresses or jeans shorts as well as sporting the most pieced together yet somehow strangely working assortment of jewelry
she has a decently active social media presence, which is mostly used for an unpredictable mixture of silly on set tiktok challenges or passionate calls for action, mostly for environmental protection
they’re very much a beach and oceans enthusiast and they WILL shut you down for leaving any kind of trash on the beach but also for supporting environmentally damaging companies
ro has a decent amount of houseplants at home and tries to keep them alive so desperately ?  but honestly, they’re really not a natural at it.
she loves doing her nails herself, including cute and intricate nail designs
when they were 19 and at a party they got a tiny tattoo of an octopus done on the left side of her hip

A Blog Post About The Show H2O.
Hey Everyone Today Blog Post Is Gonna Be A Little Short Because i am Not feeling well Today But i would Like to talk about something
that i have seen when watching the show H2O season 3 I felt that after a Little while Rikki was the Only One who really and Truly cared
about The Moon Pool and the Cave and the whole Thing i am Not saying that the other Girls don t but they did not show it as Much as
she did after a Little while i stated to wonder if the other Girls really cared at all i really did because they did not seem Like it at all they
seemed to be very disconnected From the Secret and all i mean all Bella really cared about was will and all Cleo cared about was getting
to the Scientific Answer of things and that is all well and Good But i felt that after a little while Rikki was the only one who still Felt
Emotionally Connected to Mako Island i felt that after a Little while Bella and Cleo Became very Nonchalant about the Mermaid and the
powers and Mako Island all Together i felt that in season 3 Rikki was Very Much On her own rather she Liked it or Not Bella and Cleo did
not really seem care Like Rikki Did if you ask Me and i felt that that was Very dumb if you ask me i wish they would have Stood Together

Hi! Long text incoming, sorry, but I just caught up with your latest not-at-all-an-actual-project 4433 AU idea, so for the h2o AU, regarding your poll: I definitely had to go for manipulating/moving water with Lewis but I'm thinking along the lines of the enhanced version from later on in the series, because, if I remember correctly, Cleo was also able to summon and control wind. So a mixture between moving water and the different option, really, because that would be cool, wouldn't it?
Personally, because that's come up, I've been obsessed with fantasy since I was a kid and never managed to grow out of that, which is why every single fiction!book in my room has at least some fantastical aspect to it - and why I love all kinds of AUs with supernatural elements. I also grew up with h2o so this is right up my alley, as you may notice. :D But I also think that these fantastical, crazy things can be really fun and revealing to play around with when enhancing actual character traits: Lewis is a deeply emotional person, maybe more so than a lot of the guys around him, yet in his "main environment" he's been made to feel like he has to conceal that more so than anyone else. So how would that translate into this supernatural setting, for someone who is very attuned to his emotions, has learned to not show them in a way others are carefree to do, this time because of his powers, yet also experiences them so strongly? It's just fun to investigate that struggle through this heightened lense.
I mean, basically I can't decide if I'd prefer him to have an iron grip on his powers that are linked to his emotions (he'd certainly try) or if I'd prefer him to, at least sometimes, slip, especially with Max around to witness. Just something to think about, I suppose? :D
see you get it, this IS a not-at-all-an-actual-project project! i am decisively Not working on it (but i am thinking about it a lot)
i think moving is the best for him indeed! especially with your explanation! he is not hotheaded the way rikki is to make boiling fit, he's not cool and collected and sometimes too rational to be emotional the way emma is to make freezing fit. so yeah, the sorta-telekenises works really nicely!
and the wind-thing, they really only did that for a few episodes in season 2, it was sooo random. but maybe it can tie into the full moon thing and be a side effect of the full moon? and yes, i certainly don't want him to have full control or whatever, i'd love it if he slips up! especially around max! suddenly a random bottle they weren't even close to falls from the table, or a tap explodes because lewis and max kissed and his heartbeat is through the roof.... so many good options.
your part about fantasy is a really nice read :) happy you find what you like <3 hope to see you in my inbox more n more often, do you want a nickname? i wanted to put h20 anon but there's a lot more suddenly lmao! what can i call you?
i love that lewis is indeed very much robot-ified in the sense that he can't always be open about his emotions, or can't even show them, so he lowkey trained himself to hide his feelings but he's not like that, so it can explode at random times, especially later in the story where max is bothered by lewis' insincerity due to him having to hide a part of himself, and then later when max knows, that they can work through it better. max teaching lewis to be more open about his feelings and not constantly adapt to others, lewis teaching max to be kinder and give people a shot.
thanks, love! <3 i really like your thoughts

h2o: just add water - dangerous waters:
So I never really knew how the illegal fish thing linked to the opening, with Rikki being self centered and upsetting Cleo. She sits, and is on her phone, making snarky comments instead of comforting her friend. Emma is doing what Rikki should, and if Rikki doesn't really want to be so touchy-feely or be as 'sappy' as Emma, she could still at least be in silent understanding of her friends grief, but she chooses not to. She then because she feels guilty, again centering her own feelings.
I realised the point of the episode is that Rikki was too busy looking at how things catered to her - she doesn't know the fish's name because it's not interesting to her. She buys the 2nd fish because she thinks it looks good. Only looking at the surface - it looks like a good replacement. She's once again thinking about herself, pointedly saying the fish's correct name directed at *Emma* not Cleo, saying how good a replacement the one she bought would be. But if she really meant it from her heart, she would have known what Cleo actually wanted. Which were saltwater fish. Or mayve not a new one that soon. And it's this exact fish that the conman spots in the first place to start the plot. The crux of the episode. The man flatters her, pays her done deal. She can get material things. But she's slowly learning - she shares it with her friends. But because she was still primarily focused on the material things and herself, she misses out that this guy was 100% dodgy. She then acts out of humilation rather than critical thinking due to her embarassment. But she's eventually helped by her friends to realise it wasn't worth it to hurt him like he did her, because it wouldn't change what he did. But she could be the better person, which later on becomes a inspiration for Cleo and her new fish 'hot stuff.'
Emma gets a lot of flack this episode for being too harsh, and I half agree, mainly at the second half when Rikki realised she was working for a dodgy salesman - Emma certainly doesn't mince her words. But Emma apologises for this in a really mature way. Her harshness in the beginning of the episode is valid though.

[ID/ A digital drawing of a merman. He had mid-brown skin, black hair, brown eyes and a golden coloured tail which curls behind him. He has visible top surgery scars and one dangly earring with a blue and a red gem. He has a startled expression, his arms are half pulled up next to him. The background and foreground both have silhouettes of seaweed and fish in different shades of blue and grey. There are some light blue fish around the merman. /END ID]

things mako mermaids got right that weren't featured in h2o:
a large supporting cast: by the time we get to season four numerous land people are aware of the existence of merpeople and are able to support them in hiding the secret. i understand why the h2o writers chose for the girls to only tell their boyfriends about their identities, and obviously budget constraints are a concern, but i think the extended family ensemble just works
older mermaids: this is only something small, but i like that we get to see slightly older mermaids like rita and veridia actually in their mermaid forms. it’s something that we didn’t get to see on h2o that i personally would have vibed with *shrug emoji*
some of the particulars of mermaid-ness like mermaids having beautiful hair, being terrified of cats, and having a penchant for seafood couldn't exist in h2o for obvious reasons, but i'm going to shout them out here since i think these were clever and creative choices on the part of the writers especially poseidon’s existence since i maintain that the only thing missing from h2o is cats and have assigned rikki an elder lady cat named gramps
characters's parents being told about their mermaid status: of course this is only something hinted at the end of season four. still it’s something i would have liked to see on h2o. i’m glad that zac’s parents eventually learned about his true identity and could presumably help him to navigate both worlds to which he belongs
land person-turned-mermaid losing their tail, but it's a good thing: in the og series the audience is meant to read gracie giving up her tail as a bad thing, since it caused her relationship with max and her friendships with the girls to end. charlotte losing her tail is not supposed to be a bad thing for the audience, but as a charlotte sympathizer it’s pretty heartbreaking to watch. evie’s admittedly half-hearted arc in gaining a tail and then losing it is quite refreshing in comparison. she is able to go back to her normal life and is no longer burdened with the secret when she finally accepts what has happened to her
mermen: the concept is yawn-inducing for me, but considering the amount of 'lewis/zane/ash/will become mermen' fic which circulates, i'm going to go ahead and say that introducing mermen was a good choice. dissenting opinions accepted at this time!
things mako mermaids got wrong that h2o also got wrong:
the stringent heterosexuality of every single character: i understand that we’re talking about kids’s shows which aired in the early 2000s, but must near every single character end up in a heterosexual union?
lack of racial and ethnic diversity: most of the characters in h2o are white, and the characters of colour are periphery at best. there is more diverse representation in mako mermaids but it isn’t always handled in the most, ahem, tactful way (e.g the whitewashing of mimmi, the miscasting of weilan, etc.)
misogynistic writing resulting in pointless female rivalries: see, for example, nixie and evie getting into a cat fight in early season one over a pair of shoes. that scene was written by a man, i just know it
characters that are not from australia having australian accents: i can kind of give h2o a pass for this one since bella (and will, now that i think of it) may have spent a good chunk of her childhood in aus and picked up the accent, but why does weilan, who has never set foot there until the final season, speak with an aussie twang? no seriously, if anyone has an explanation for this bar 'casting an actor to do a chinese accent would have been too much bother' i'm all ears!
the ever-evolving cast: why does no one who acts in the makoverse want to stick around for more than one season? half the supporting characters of h2o season one don't appear in season two, and half of those remaining characters don't appear in season three. it's worse on mako mermaids as the main trio of mermaids is constantly changing. how is the viewer supposed to get attached, let alone watch characters develop organically over a number of seasons, if the mains keep getting replaced?
things mako mermaids got wrong that h2o managed to get right:
the visual appeal of its magical jewellery: this one is entirely subjective, but i’m just going to say it: the moon rings are ugly. especially compared to the iconic h2o lockets. i suppose it could be argued that the lockets were designed by a human to blend in with the world of land people, while the moon rings are from the mermaid world so must appear more bright and fantastical. this doesn’t detract from the face that they are garish and artificial looking. also, if you're attempting to hide your mermaid identity on land, why wear a ring that has a mermaid on it? the mind boggles
mermaid tails: someone else made a more detailed post on this, but the mako tails suck, especially compared to its predecessor. they look weirdly discoloured, almost unfinished, don’t have the same dexterity, and are too light to the point of flimsiness. what i will say is that the silvery-blue merman tails are cool. still, if it ain't broke and all that
i don’t know how to summarise this point into a snappy sub-heading, but the way that each h2o mermaid has unique powers particular to them that just adds something to the world. not to mention the hand gestures! of course northern mermaids, eastern mermaids, and southern mermaids have different strengths, while individual mermaids may be proficient in different areas. it also makes sense that a large pod of mermaids would share the same powers, rather than having individual powers specific to them. still i think the elemental associations in the original series helped to round the characters out better, and it’s something i missed on mako mermaids
i don’t know where to include this bit, but the different aesthetics of the show lend themselves to two entirely different experiences. the visual aesthetic of mako mermaids is sharp and vibrant and colourful, with a higher production value. however as a zillennial there’s something comforting about the crappy production value of the og series and the muted tones used in the colouring
feel free to add!

Repost from Reddit: Reasons Why I Love Season 3 (and you should to)
The Plot: The Water tentacle plotline is easily the best plotline in the entire h2o franchise, the premise of "Place you once view as home is trying to kill you" is interesting, and it's executed so well, it even uses pre-established lore elements such as the magnetism in Mako to support it's narrative.
A lot of people say that the fact the water tentacle wasn't trying to kill them doesn't make sense, but hints like Bella saying to the girls the tentacle made her feel safe, or Rikki saying it was trying to communicate with her, were clearly foreshadowing the twist and if you look at those episodes in hindsight, you can easily see the writers were planting the seeds for the big twist, an explanation as to why it tried to smash Cleo's head in the bathroom would've been nice (LOL) but aside from that instance the water tentacle's actions can be easily answered by it's motivation to stop the comet "if they don't want to go to Mako, i'll bring them to Mako" "If they're scared i'll make them feel safe so they understand i'm not trying to hurt them".
Lore expansion: We get to know that Mako was created by the collision of a lunar rock with the earth, that there are other moon pools in the world, more powers, that there are ancient mermaids that predate Ms. Chatham's friend group, that Mako is sentient, and only welcomes those who have been 'marked', and that Mako is powered up by the crystals containing pure moonlight in them.
Cleo's Arc Expansion: Cleo growing more confident and assertive, as well as more interested in Science was a good way to go about her character, I also like that the reason she starts to involve herself more in science isn't because of some school related problem like in S2, but because of the water tentacle, as it helps to keep its presence throughout the season, making us see it in a more serious light, due to the fact the threat left actual impact after its initial arrival and forced Cleo to battle her internal conflict with science, as it was the only way they could learn about the tentacle and how to defeat it.
Kim: They added complexity to her character, making us understand why she acts the way she does, and she and Cleo get closer, even if they still have some of the same hiccups from previous seasons, they spend more time talking without arguing this season than in any other one, so Kim's complexity didn't go to waste and she progressed in a way.
Nate: he was comedy gold.
Lewis: Learned to accept help, and not work alone, great mini-arc.
Ryan: Solid antagonist with solid motivations, nothing outstanding. He wants to make a big discovery and that's it.
Sam: Better than Bev. By a great MILE.
And that's it. There are other stuff I like, but it falls more on the subjective side, and i wanted this to be a list of things that were objectively good in this season. Please burn me alive in the comments one at a time please.

top 5 magical creatures!
AAAAAAA WHY MUST YOU DO THIS TO ME
1. Dragons. I KNOW IT'S BASIC BUT THERE'S A REASON FOR THAT OKAY! Dragons are so cool and if you say anything different you're lying. 2. Werewolves my beloved. This post explained it perfectly I have nothing else to say. 3. Kitsune. I don't know much about them outside of Teen Wolf lore, but what I know is enough the absolutely captivate me. I love foxes so much. I love tricksters so much. I love shapeshifters so much. The whole concept of not being into good vs. bad or not even understanding it is just *chef's kiss*. They really are the perfect magical creatures. Also the nine tails look cool. 4. Unicorns and Pegasi. Listen, the classics are classics for a reason. Unicorns and Pegasi are awesome. 5. Mermaids. They're also classic for a reason. They're so pretty and kinda hot and I wanted to be one when I was little. Also H2O: Just Add Water was the best thing to happen to television in the 21st Century. I have had such a big crush on Rikki.
(The Phoenix gets an honorary mention. It looks cool and the metaphors related to rising from the ashes are amazing and endless. Only flaw is that I'm never gonna learn how to spell it. I seriously don't think I've spelled it right once.)
ASK ME MY “TOP 5/TOP 10” ANYTHING!

Headcanon: Moon Fever - Why and How
Tumblr media
Oh wow, two serious posts without 7 months of silence between them? Who am I? a blogging superstar or something? Aight, so last time we covered the origin of mermaids and the magic itself, as well as how their powers work (spoiler alert: electromagnetism is the key). This time let’s talk about a very common feature in the H2O universe (or the Makoverse, as I call it): The Full Moon Fever.
The moon fever, as Rikki dubbed, it refers to the effect the full moon and its reflection have on mermaids. I believe sometimes they also refer to it as moon spell, so I might go back and forth between these two names.
First, let’s go over what we know: once a month, on a full moon, every mermaid that looks at the full moon or its reflection goes somewhat crazy; the side effects are changing, but all within the range of new power gain and/or enhancement of powers, memory loss, and impulsive irregular behavior.  Let’s go over every instance of a moon fever in the first two seasons of the original show (as in season 3 they’ve mastered their control over it):
- Moon Spell, Emma on her dad’s birthday - The Siren Effect, Cleo sings like a siren - Bad Moon Rising, Rikki sets Mako ablaze - Stormy Weather, the girls get new weather powers - Moonwalker, the girls go camping on Mako - Moonstruck, Ash surprises Emma with a romantic dinner - Unfathomable, Charlotte’s first (and last) full moon
With 7 different cases to look upon, there’s plenty of material to create a theory. In every one of these episodes, at least one mermaid gets affected by the full moon. But why is the full moon dangerous to mermaids?
Tumblr media
In Mako Mermaids we learn that not only the full moon is the source of all mermaids, it is also the source of their magic and energy. Basking in its light or swimming on full moon nights gives mermaids a great feeling and is a great mood boost. Mature mermaids like Sirena, Lyla and Nixie very much wait to the full moon with great anticipation. However, when tutoring Zac and Evie, they imply the full moon can be dangerous if you can’t control yourself, and moon spell control is something young mermaids are being taught early on. Why is this important? Because it reveals the true face of the full moon spell: it is good for the mermaids.
On every instance of the full moon, two things repeat: One, the moonstruck mermaids have an urge to go into the water, and two, they want to swim to Mako as well. Let’s examine what might be the best episode for it, Moonstruck, where first Cleo, then Rikki and Emma, fall under the spell and start acting goofy (and honestly adorable). Unlike some previous episodes, they did not gain any new powers, or set off on a mission to do something, they just act weird and keep talking about wanting to go for a swim to Mako. I believe that episode is the best example of the pure effect of the full moon - they are drawn to it. Just like the native mermaids, the electromagnetic energy of the moon draws the girls into the water because it feels good, it charges them up, and it is necessary for their “magic fatigue” (yeah, let’s call it that). The moon’s energy clears their minds off anything other than wanting to swim in moonlight, preferably in the moon pool, where they know the effect of the moon is the strongest due to the structure of the place (wuddup previous headcanon reference).
Tumblr media
So, the moon draws the mermaids to Mako every time, sure. But why new powers? Why going out of control? Well, there’s an explanation for that as well. You see, in the book series that was tied with the first 12 episodes, we learn that alot of the way the mermaids control their powers has to do with their emotional state. We see it on the show as well; when Cleo gets too angry in Control (s2e2), she allowed her powers to take over her, thus losing her control over her abilities. But that’s for another post in the future. What we learn from it is that their mermaid abilities are directly tied to their state of mind, and while examining the episodes I mentioned, it is as clear as Emma’s ice.
In The Siren Effect, Cleo was embarrassed she couldn’t sing, and her greatest wish came true via siren singing. In Bad Moon Rising, Rikki’s self-saboteur gets to her, convincing her she’s the blame, and as her feelings start to burn inside her, she burns the world. In Unfathomable, Charlotte uses hydrokinesis and electrokinesis far beyond her experience as a one-month-old mermaid to mess with Emma’s appliances and create some good ol’ water snakes. In Moon Spell, Moonwalker and Moonstruck the girls have not gained any new temporary powers, but their recent feelings towards Byron, Charlotte and telling Ash the truth affected their behaviors. They lived through their daily struggles through a mermaid state of mind everytime, using whatever powers needed. (I left out ‘Stormy Weather’ to be brought up later on)
Now, why is that? In that future post I referred to earlier I will go over how mermaid powers are limitless, in the way that the idea that Cleo, Emma and Rikki only has certain powers is a lie, and that they could perform each other’s powers as well like Charlotte. I believe that the clear state of mind the full moon gives a mermaid, allows her to step out beyond her own understanding of powers, and with the energy of the full moon, she can perform power tricks she wouldn’t know how to do on a casual Tuesday night.
Tumblr media
Okay, final part, Stormy Weather (pictured above). I left it out for a reason. To begin with, it feels like a normal full moon episode. All three girls fall under the moon spell, and get drawn to Mako. But that episode, out of all of them, stresses how important it is to let a mermaid follow her heart to the moon pool. That specific night was the seventh full moon since their transformation, including the night they transformed, as well as one full moon that happened between the seasons). In Mako Mermaids they refer to that moon as the Seventh Moon Cycle, a very powerful full moon that every mermaid goes through, on the six-month mark since her transformation. While not fully explained, I believe this enhances a mermaid’s power range, allowing her to perform tricks and moves way beyond her previous abilities, such as weather powers. Let’s consider it a mermaid puberty. The seventh moon cycle calls stronger than any before, and safe to assume that if the girls stayed at home safe, they’d never have gotten their enhanced powers. That being said, the new powers are permanent and should not be considered an effect of the moon fever.
So there you have it. The full moon fever mapped out to the bone. or at least I hope it is. If you have any more ideas feel free to comment below, I love reading y’all’s suggestions.

hi!! so in h2o, cleo, emma, and rikki left the moon pool before it stopped bubbling and they only got one power each. but charlotte stayed until the moon pool finished bubbling and she got all three powers. does this mean that the longer someone stays in the moon pool, the more powers they get? i hope you’re having a great day!! :D
Ooo, good theory! They were probably going for an even distribution of powers thing, three powers for three different girls, but with Charlotte, since she was the only one she got all three. But they didn't spend too much time even thinking about why she got all three powers except to say that she shouldn't have them, so really anything's on the table. I like that idea, there really are so many ways that it could be construed.
Another theory I like is that maybe because of her grandma, Charlotte was more readily accepted by the magic, and that's why she got all three. Actually, that might also have something to do why the girls could only create storms and whatnot after a particular full moon, but Charlotte automatically got them as well. Maybe that's why she was able to control her powers so quickly too.
That really is a strength and weakness of the show: because they don't explain anything, we can draw our own conclusions and headcanons, but it also makes the mythology really weak and almost nonsensical.
Thanks for the ask, and I hope you have a great day too!

The H2o mermaids as Taylor Swift songs
I don’t know what made me do this, lol. Consider this my weird quarantine thing that I did. I’m already a big Taylor Swift fan, and then I was like, why I don’t I relisten and sort her entire discography into a list of the different H2o mermaids, because I like a project and a sorting task. I chose the songs on a weird set of qualifications, considering the lyrics won’t be a hundred percent close to each individual, so here’s I sorted them:
1. The lyrics actually do have something with the character.
2. I can see the character singing this in a musical or in a music video
3. The vibe of the song goes with the character
4. They would sing it at karaoke
5. I could envision the character going through whatever the song is about
Y’all, I already knew ninety percent of her songs, but geez this was surprisingly tougher than I thought it’d be. Feel free to disagree with me and sort them how you’d like. I tried to mix them up and make them as even as possible.

weed+coffee thoughts pt.1
I never used to be much of a "wake and bake" person. I always thought that the people who woke up and decided that the first thing that they were going to do for the day is toke up were clearly misguided. Maybe I just wanted to make my younger self feel better about my own life choices. Like, at least I only smoke at night, like a regular, productive human being.
If only I could see me now.
Smoking in the morning can be incredibly freeing - especially when you have absolutely no prior commitments. I bought 2g of Pineapple Express yesterday, which is a sativa, and I found for the first time in a while, the weed didn't make me groggy. So, that was neat. Now, this isn't my first time waking and baking, but it's the first time where I actually feel energetic. The coffee definitely helps.
Currently, I'm rewatching H2O: Just Add Water on Netflix. I used to be obsessed with it when I was around thirteen years old. I remember watching it when it was still airing new episodes weekly on T.V. Now, I'm sitting here in my apartment's living room at nearly 25-years-old, binging it on Netflix, stoned out of my mind at 10:50am on a Sunday. This might be paradise.
I've got one of my deity candles going to help me feel at peace and balance. Lighting the candle makes me feel like I'm not alone. It's like a warm welcome to my guiding Spirits, Angels, and Deities to hang out with me. It feels like unconditional love is in the room. It's the feeling of God.
Anyway. Deep, spiritual shit aside, I'm watching a show about teenage mermaids and I'm having a fucking blast. I definitely had a major crush on Rikki, Cleo, Zane (I didn't find him physically that attractive but his accent and his personality... teenage me was like yaaaaaas), and of course, the goofy and hot as fuck, Lewis. Apparently, I'm just super attracted to Australians. It's definitely the accent.
Sometimes I wish I was a mermaid. That would be pretty cool I think. Really this show just makes me super excited for the summer. I'm so ready to go swimming and lie under the warm sun.
Side note: I just had to google the ages of the actors in H20 during filming in 2008 to make sure I wasn't being creepy for still being attracted to them at 24. Good news: they're all of age! Pretty much all of them were like at least 20 years old.
Anyway, so I'm getting tired of writing, so I'm probably going to sign off here. Good morning to me :)

Debuff Zane Build
i am tired of not seeing this build in all the zane build videos i watch so im sharing it here because its stupid fun bc u run fast and kill faster. it’s not meta, but its fun as fuck and u have a lot of damage and survivability with it. I’ve completed M4 Slaughter Shaft with it- haven’t tried on M10 yet but i have faith. p.s its 4 am pls have mercy if there’s spelling mistakes.
what ur gonna need is a band of sitorak, zheitseiv’s eruption, a seein’ dead, and the piss grenade. everything else is fair game, whatever u want. try to get it to have the sntl cryo anoint bc good. but u must have the 4 main items for this to work perfectly (it also somewhat works with a low level Frozen Heart bc best shield in the game but you will die a lot more)
also i need a fucking name for this build help
oh god oh fuck i forgot i was playing through the handsome jackpot dlc again
oki im ready to party
this is my current loadout
Tumblr media
sometimes i switch the reg Q-System for a kaoson or a nighthawkin if i need ammo (OP QSystem is... OP but not as fun as a tracking grenade QSystem so i don’t care for it) and maybe the brainstormer for a reflux if many shielded enemies (i prefer the brainstormer over the reflux atm. so try for a brainstormer!!)
3rd slot, that’s a monarch which used to be a dictator b4 it got a straight upgrade. I actually don’t use the bipod unless im in a boss fight and don’t need to move fast. usually violent momentum and violent violence cover the dps loss
ur first 3 gun slots honestly don’t matter much. I have my reasons for using them, but you can use whatever u want i think, so long as its a strong weapon (bc unfortunately a lot of weapons are not scaled for m10). u dont HAVE to use the monarch or the Q system or the brainstormer. I recommend them, cuz theyre fun, but u don’t gotta if u wanna swap em out for a a kaoson or a yellowcake or a sandhawk or smth
the last gun is my zheitsev’s eruption. This bad boy, when u reload, shoots out homing balls of debuffery. So every enemy that gets hit with these gets a debuff. I have tried this with the needler but I prefer Zheitsev’s bc it can hit more enemies and once and takes less time. this gun only goes to Blane (ur clone).
for the skill trees we have no points in under cover even tho brainfreeze is the best skill in the gaaaaame
Tumblr media Tumblr media
explanations:
really the hitman tree is p self explanatory, u wanna go fast as fuck boiii. My band of sitorak does not have the +15 movespeed while zoomer is active anoint (it has the break shield amp anoint, which is p okay. want movespeed, but a nice human from the reddit gave me this sitorak so i didn’t have to farm). u want drone delivery bc Blane will NOT be throwing grenades. If you try to make him throw grenades with the seein’ dead he will ONLY throw grenades and never fire his gun, meaning he’ll never reload. it’s a nightmare. anyway. u want the piss grenade (ideally with the +25% damage on thrown anoint). im not looking forward to regrinding this when they finally mayhem buff grenades.
we put one point into playing dirty because we want those extra shots and honestly with the amount of times seein’ dead can proc ur kill skills you’ll have it more often than not
we also have points in good misfortune for that sweet sweet uptime (which btw can be infinite using the brainstormer/reflux bc it is essentially a redistributor without the need for ur barrier) the monarch/dictator also does it justice
for Blane u DON’T WANT praemuntis. we want blane reloading as often as gotdamn possible. now unfortunately my seein’ dead gave me a +weapon mag size roll (im actually not sure if this affects blane, but im assuming it does) but it does have the amazing +5 donnybrook so I’m taking it anyway. I am so not looking forward to regrinding a good class mod when they finally release action skill buffs for them. i cri. i actually hear 3 points in donnybrook and 2 in violent violence is p good (or 1 in violent violence 1 in playin dirty) so maybe grinding won’t be so bad. maybe i’ll finally get a +weapon damage roll
u can grab 1 point in ducttape mod and put 4 points into borrowed time if you want. it doesn’t really matter. i current have 5 in borrowed time and 3 in pocket full of grenades (for some reason??? usually i only put 2 in.). U can do that and use those extra points for either ducttape mod or more points in playing dirty.
u NEED quick breather. This skill has a STUPID interaction with the band of sitorak shield because of how quickly it recharges. I’m talking, the instant you swap with Blane, you have full shields and so does he. It’s dumb, I love it. Use it to get out of trouble.
so im probably gonna need to explain why i have 3 points in trick of the light: im a cryo slut. That’s it. put those wherever you want, just make sure you can get Double Barrel. i’ve seen builds where people actually go for brainfreeze, i might try that next time i respec.
Double barrel will make it so blane can use the zheitsev’s eruption and debuff your enemies for you. it’s worth it.
so the augments u want are these:
SCHADENFREUDE. because band of sitorak has such a tiny capacity, ur shield is constantly up. If its not, it’s constantly breaking from full capacity. this does have a fun effect with the amp shield break anoint, but mainly i like it for the 25% damage buff whenever it breaks. its a tradeoff for damage, ur constantly swapping between max shields and more damage, so its actually p constant survivability and damage over the long run.
i grab doppelbanger bc blane sometimes gets stuck in the floor and/or i don’t feel like running all the way back. i wouldn’t recommend getting which one’s real or digital distribution only bc u want him alive as much as possible. u can also get binary system instead of doppelbanger, its up to you
for Zoomer u want bad dose for the movement speed and (sometimes) static field (only if the enemies have shields). this is so if blane goes down or he isn’t taking damage, zoomer can refill ur shields. if the enemies won’t have shields usually i grab winter’s drone or boomsday depending on how i feel.
im actually gonna try to see if i can’t grab brain freeze. hang on. i know trick of the light is frowned upon for most people so lemme just respec. (im sorry i just love the vibes it gives me it’s like HAHA you thought that was me? no!!! boop. and then they’re ice sculptures and man i love h2o i wish emma had frozen more people the only people she really freezes are Greg and Miriam and honestly she doesn’t even kill Greg smh. (Greg is dr denman’s assistant. greg is highkey god.) I do like what she did to Mirami, the fucking implications that YES these teenage girls ARE powerful enough to instakill people, they just don’t out of the kindness of their hearts. Rikki was badass that episode too. actually i love the episode where rikki almost boils a dude alive for making a fool of her with ILLEGAL F I S H and burns people using steam from a pipe. rikki is my favorite mermaid- she knew what was u p. I wish mako mermaids was as badass as h2o was. and the cartoon. god imagine the cartoon violence. sigh. let them use their op superpowers to be SUPERHEROES. like in h2o au i have baron flynt puppeteer people to their deaths from Thor bc he has cleo’s powers like why couldn’t she do that to someone. Like dr denman “lmao bye bitch” or even charlotte (who imho wasn’t bad until cleo started being rude to her. cleo was 100% at fault that season). it wouldn’t have killed her!!! ... instantly. probably. ive never seen avatar in full but i did watch the blood bending episode as a child and as i understand it that’s frowned upon but hey. CAN BELLA TURN PEOPLE INTO JELLY?? harry potter 🅱oneless arms... my god.)
anyway, respeccing.
there goes all my money. rip.
so i think im gonna have to live with the slower reload speed (sob) but yes u can in fact get brain freeze with this build. lemme show...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so ye in the event u just can’t live without freezing people (i know the feeling) feel free to do this. imma play with this for a bit and see if i can live with slower reload. I actually depend on the 100% cryo with zoomer active for all my cryo damage. i also use an ice breaker so they freeze fairly easy (but only on mobs. on bosses u want the snowdrift or something else)
this build isn’t really meta and u might have trouble doing a solo run of true takedown on m10... bc its true takedown on m10, but honestly it’s fun as F U C K. you CAN do it, but it’s not no thoughts head empty like barrier-redistrubutor/yellowcake zane can be so u gotta be on TOP of ur SHIT. i love it. running around killing stuff. it’s fun. i also love teleporting. it’s my FAVORITE THING. I STILL GET GIDDY OVER IT BECAUSE IT’S SO FUN. ask my friends, they will tell you, sometimes i’ll just start gushing over how much fun it is to teleport even though i’ve played zane since release. just. GFDGHKJGDFK so much fun. i just... b o o p. god i love this game. i took a break to play assassin’s creed odyssey (fun sneaky beaky game, pretty awful dialogue) so DAMN i missed this.
here’s a link to a video I took on athenas (my favorite area to run. it’s this game’s bloodshot stronghold!) this is the playlist i listen to while playing Zane. i keep swapping songs during play bc sometimes they don’t fit my vibe or i get tired of them lol (spotify control is hooked to my 4th and 5th mouse buttons so i don’t have to stop playing) i forgot where my shock sandhawk was in my inventory, is what i use to demolish traunt. i was so scared i threw it in my bank earlier on sanc-iii lol (also yes i still slap blane’s ass. it’s to encourage him to kill)
and here’s a link to the save + everything I had on me at the moment (including the stuff i picked up in the vid in case u want it lol) cuz im lazy and don’t feel like clearing out my inventory. some of these are only m4-9. which ones? it is a mystery. you’ll know when the new update releases ;) (no but actually im so hype for mayhem level on the item cards. finally. FINALLY!!!)
why is this video taking so long to upload. hynnnggggg
oh god is that the sun

Rewind to a New Beginning: Chapter 53
PREVIEW:
Charlotte's POV
Have you ever felt like something was wrong but weren't sure what?
An ominous shadow, intangible but pronounced, a warm, summer day where the ever-present breeze swiftly flushes into a turbulent of a drowning hurricane.
A constant presence of which only I can be aware of if I acknowledge its darkness.
As I watched my friends around me. Rikki and Emma were conversing as Cleo and Lewis had left to clean up from the party, the phrase, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is", comes to mind. It was getting pretty late and the full moon was on the rise, but that wasn't what was wrong.
After the party, Cleo said that that the fun wasn't over yet and that tonight, during the "special" was going to happen, and I would effectively be apart of it, like a Rite of Passage.
Flashback...
"Rites of Passage?" I asked after the video ended. Cleo had gotten up and quickly called for me and the girls' attention.
"Exactly," Emma nodded. "You see, it's no secret that before you got here, we'd have crazy experiences during the Full Moon. Cleo was a literal Siren, I was, as I was told, a carefree version of myself that was stuck in my tail for a whole night. And as for Rikki, she was Charlie McGee in Firestarter!"
Rikki snorted. "Real classy, Em. But you forget unlike her, I had no control whatsoever that day. Want proof? Ask Zane! It took him a while to recover from that inside-out sunburn I gave him that night!"
I snapped her head towards Rikki. That was the first I'd heard of this. "Wait! What!? How did you burn Zane from the inside out?"
All the fiery mermaid just did was give me a mischievous expression on her face and winked. Sometimes, even after earning her respect, she still scares me.
"It's a long story!" Cleo interjected. "But basically, things happen during our first year and we try not to judge each other for that. Kind of like your first full moon."
I couldn't help but wince on the inside. How could I forget?

1, 9 and 25 for the tv show/movie ask!
TOP FIVE TV SHOWS: This changes a lot but I’ll go with the most consistent ones I can think of!
1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Yes, it’s very dated, and yes, Joss Whedon ain’t shit, but this remains one of my all-time favorite shows, and Buffy Summers remains one of my favorite characters, and there are so many episodes I can watch again and again and never get bored. It has a magic to it that even Angel could never quite capture, and I always find myself going back to it when I’m not sure what to watch but just want something that I’ll enjoy.
2. Avatar: the Last Airbender: Obviously, given my blog name, I have a deep and abiding love for this series. Is it perfect? Of course not, and there are some major things I wish were different, but overall it’s an amazing show with fantastic characters and a brilliant overarching plot, and it manages to stand up to modern scrutiny even though it’s been over a decade since it finished airing.
3. The Nanny. To this day, The Nanny is probably my favorite sitcom of all time. It was released in the 90s, but unlike a lot of sitcoms of the era (Friends immediately comes to mind, though they weren’t the worst offender) the vast majority of its humor doesn’t rely on ‘no homo’ jokes or misogyny/transphobic gags. (There are some off-color jokes, of course--it was the nineties. But this is one of the few shows where I can watch 90% of the episodes without cringing.) Most of the humor is centered around Fran’s hilarious antics, and it’s still a show I can put on whenever I need a good laugh, and it will never disappoint.
4. Leverage. I just love this show so much. A bunch of thieves come together for a job with one (1) honest man to give them a plan, and suddenly they’ve become a family who steal from the rich to give to the poor and disenfranchised and I love every since one of them. Even Nate. Plus, the ot3 is real. Hitter Hacker Thief owns my goddamn soul.
5. Person of Interest. Listen, it was a fantastic show, and yeah it got a little weird near the end, and also Joss Carter deserved better, but it had two of the most fucking cathartic and viscerally satisfying villain deaths I have ever seen in my life. “Oh, no, I’m not gonna kill you--I’m just gonna watch.” and “Now I surrender.” Just.... poetic fucking cinema, ok???
TOP FIVE CHARACTERS: Same deal, this is a list that will change frequently, but these are my most consistent faves:
1. Elena Gilbert from The Vampire Diaries. Surprising absolutely no one who was around for my TVD fandom days, or who has seen me talking about anything TVD related, Elena fucking Gilbert is my girl forever and she deserved so much better. From the show and from the gods forsaken fandom. I’m not gonna get into it cause I don’t need to be dropping thousands of words for an ask meme post, but evidently Elena was the harbinger signaling my love for orphaned brunettes with doe eyes and pain hidden behind a smile, but I just love her so goddamn much and I always will.
2. Buffy Summers from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She saved the world. A lot. She’s my absolute favorite character from BtVS and frankly she deserved better, too--fuck absolutely everyone after Empty Places--but I just... love her so much. And her arc in season 6 means so much to me as someone constantly struggling with depression and ptsd (mine is related to childhood trauma, but that’s not beside the point). Buffy is far from perfect, and she makes mistakes, but she does the job literally no one else can do, and she’s so incredibly strong. I can’t imagine going through what she went through and not completely breaking down.
3. Emma Swan from Once Upon a Time. Ok, so not a brunette, but still a woman with severe abandonment issues who grew up believing she was an orphan and kept being punished by the show, and who definitely deserved better. (No, I’m not over the ending to season 4, and I never will be.) My one comfort is knowing that she fell in love with a man who loved and cherished and appreciated her just as much as she deserved, and she got to live a long and happy life with him and their daughter.
4. Katara from Avatar: the Last Airbender. Again probably not a surprise, given my blog, but I just. I love Katara so much. And she deserved so much better than what LoK reduced her to, and where the fuck was her statue, Bryke??? Where????? Anyway, she’s the ultimate Mom Friend who won’t hesitate to cut a bitch if they hurt her friends, and I just think she’s amazing.
5. Rogue from Marvel. Just... every version of her. Rogue was my favorite character from the original X-Men trilogy, which was my first real introduction to Marvel, and she was my favorite character in X-Men: Evolution, and by the time I finally got to actually read some of her comics I loved her even more. While I still love her in the original trilogy I also wish they’d given Anna Paquin more to work with, bc she sure fucking could have done it (and she’s even said she would’ve loved to be able to fly and punch people, and I 100% think she could’ve pulled off Rogue’s natural sass brilliantly), and she’s one of my all-time faves and has been for almost twenty years.
TOP FIVE SHIPS: -laughs nervously- i can only choose five???
1. Katara and Zuko from Avatar: the Last Airbender. Anyone who’s surprised, feel free to stand on your head. >.> LISTEN, OK, JUST LISTEN. Zuko and Katara had an amazing emotional journey in canon, and I love so much how their relationship developed, and there’s so much potential for how they could have grown as a couple and I just. This is why we have fanfic and fanart. (And frankly, I’m glad they weren’t canon--given what was done to the canon ships, I wouldn’t trust Bryke with them. I shudder to think what would’ve happened to Zutara if they were canon and Bryke was in charge of their story.)
2. Veronica Mars and Logan Echolls from Veronica Mars. Listen, we’re just gonna... ignore the last five minutes of 4x08 (and Rob Thomas can fucking bite me). I spent a decade loving these two utter fools and I finally got to see them get fucking married and they are going to live long and happy lives and Veronica’s always gonna Veronica but Logan loves her and she loves him and they’ll work through any problems they have together like mature, rational adults, and they’ll keep solving mysteries cause trouble sticks to V like a bad rash and Logan will always be there to help her, and nothing can take that away from me.
3. Emma Swan and Killian Jones from Once Upon a Time. Killian’s redemption arc is probably second only to Zuko’s, and I fucking love how much he loves Emma Swan. It’s what she deserves. They build each other up and love and cherish each other so goddamn much and I still get choked up just thinking about them. (Usually I pretend that their wedding went off without a hitch and s7 didn’t happen because there was REALLY no need. This trend of shows continuing after their female leads bail needs to stop, I’ve literally never seen it end in anything except the show being panned for however many seasons it ran after the lead’s departure, and rightfully so.)
4. Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. The show did them so fucking dirty in the later seasons, but fuck if those first four seasons of amazing development don’t still fuck me up. And however much TVD ran itself into the ground, I will always have Elena, and Delena, and my love for them despite how awful the show became.
5. Rikki Chadwick and Zane Bennett from H2O: Just Add Water. Season 3 can bite me, Rikki and Zane were happy together and Zane had so much growth from the jackass he was at the beginning of season 1, and no way would he have cheated on Rikki even for a moment. They deserved so much better my gods.
