Slowly. He had to do this slowly. If he took it inch by inch, barely moving, he’ll eventually be able to gently break free and then he can —
Lance makes a soft groaning noise, and Keith freezes immediately, every muscle in his body going completely still. He even holds his breath, doing everything he can to stay as steady as possible. He will not so much as twitch, so help him God.
Lance exhales softly, almost sighing, and his face smooths as he shifts. His arms loosen from their vice grip around Keith’s torso — Lance is a koala cuddler, latches onto Keith like a boa constrictor every night and denies it every morning — and he falls back against his many pillows, hair tangled around his head in messy curls.
Keith, finally free from Lance’s hold, props himself up on his elbow and takes a moment to just… look, at Lance. The love of his life. He follows the steep slope of his straight nose, splattered with freckles. His eyes trace the full cupid’s bow of his lips. The sun-darkened expanse of his smooth skin. The fluttering of his long, dark eyelashes with every exhale. His arms, lanky and graceful and gorgeous and clumsy all the same, rest bonelessly around his head, fingers of his right hand tangled in his hair.
He’s the most beautiful thing Keith has ever seen — so beautiful that Keith feels the ache of him in his heart, in his chest, in his bones. He can feel the phantom imprints of Lance everywhere on his skin. In fingerprint-shaped bruises on his shoulders from where Lance gripped him tightly, last night, as he held on to Keith and they got closer, closer, closer until they were as close as they could be without melding their flesh together, until they were connected, both of them, as one. He felt Lance in the laughter lines he knew he was getting in the corner of his eyes, because Lance was his laughter, the very joy in Keith’s heart. He felt Lance in the want in his hands, the desperate need to touch and touch and never pull away.
He could never fight that urge for long.
He reached over — slowly, gently, lovingly — and traced featherlight fingertips over the shape of Lance’s forehead, brushing through his dark hair and over his soft skin. He traced loops and swirls into the angular sharpness of his cheeks, lips quirking up as he felt the roughness there from the faint hairs that have yet to be shaved this early in the new morning. He finally made his way to Lance’s lips, resting his thumb on the plumpness of the thin skin, Lance’s slow and even puffs of breath sending goosebumps up his fingers.
“You are everything good in the world,” Keith whispers, as he leans down to brush his lips on Lance’s forehead.
Lance groans again, arching forward a little, limbs still heavy with sleep. His eyes stay closed, but his breathing changes, less rhythmic.
“Stay,” he mumbles.
Keith chuckles. “I have to go meet Shiro.”He leans down to press another kiss to Lance’s forehead, quick and careful. But before he can pull away, Lance wraps lethargic arms around Keith’s neck.
“Stay,” he says again. Pleads.
Keith feels himself five in almost immediately. Lance isn’t even awake. His eyes are still shut, and Keith recognises the honey-slow slur and heavy accent to his words, knows he’s still deeply entrenched in dreamland.
Keith rakes his eyes over Lance, again, taking him in, feeling the weight of his arms and the rise and fall of their chests breathing together, and — and.
He collapses back onto the bed, laying on his side. He tugs Lance closer to him, flush along his body, arms wrapped tightly around his waist. Lance, sleep drunk as he is, doesn’t hesitate to burrow closer, settling into Keith’s arms with a sigh.
Keith smiles, his own eyes closing again, his limbs resettling into sleep.
Shiro can wait.
As he’s dropping off, thoughts unraveling, he presses on last kiss to Lance’s hair.
“I love you more than anything I’ve ever loved or will ever love again.”
And he falls off into sleep, warm in the arms of the man who shines brighter than any sun, than any star. Secure in the knowledge that he’ll wake up, later, to Lance’s smile and Lance’s love and Lance and Lance and Lance.
Sleep comes easily.

Just throw 'em back
I thought of that title, and now I'm singing Chandelier in my head at a very unreasonable volume for telepathic singing.
Ummmmmmmmm this includes consumption of alcohol and getting drunk. No one is underage if that bothers you.
This is right after the Klance sunset scene.
-----------------------------------
Now. We all know what happened during Allura and Lance's date.
We can also assume that while it was happening, Pidge was doing tech-stuff, Hunk was cooking, and Coran was doing generally Coran-ish things.
Keith however, was not.
He was laying in a dark dorm room with his head stuffed in a pillow. He didn't know why he tortures himself like this. He had just given a pep talk to his CRUSH so that his CRUSH would be confident to go out with a GIRL.
Ugh, making reasonable life decision sucks.
Shiro, of course, has been through his fair share of gay dilemmas. His psychic dad sense clued him into Keith's situation.
"Hey... rough day?"
Keith just grunted into his pillow, which meant 'yes' to Shiro.
"Dang, that bad? It this a non-existent love life problem or something else? 'Cuz I can help you with the first one."
Keith flopped over onto his back and stared blankly at the ceiling. After a minute, he held up one finger. That, or he was just flipping Shiro off, but Shiro was trying to be optimistic here.
"You've gotta help me out a bit here, bro. Do you want advice or a distraction?"
Keith decided to finally pipe up.
"Give me a pep talk and I will not hesitate to shove a knife down your throat."
Shiro held his hands up. Keith didn't respond, so he just picked the guy up and hauled him to his car. There was no protest from the black paladin, but that tends to happen when a guy rejects you without even realizing that he's doing it.
An hour later, they arrived at a small bar in the closest town to the garrison.
Seeing their destination, Keith finally I dropped for a moment to raise an eyebrow at Shiro.
Shiro just shrugged with a crooked grin on his face. “You passed the drinking age in space. I figured we could have your first real drink before going back out to the war. None of that disgusting Nunville stuff Coran offers us.”
Long story short, Keith has had 3 (or was it 4?) shots and Shiro is hanging on to Keith’s shoulders to keep his balance. He was a bit too enthusiastic, and the only noises that leave his mouth now are garbled, slurred words.
Drunk Shiro seems determined to give Keith a talk, though.
“I remember my first boyfriend. He was cute. But soooo straight. He smelled like water.”
Keith’s brow shoots up to his hairline.
“What are going on about, Shiro? Are you really gonna do this now? Also, how does someone smell like water?”
Shiro raises his prosthetic arm to Keith’s face in a poor attempt to shush him, but his lack of coordination leads him wack Keith across the face.
“Shhhh shshshshh. Let me brother you. What I’m trying to say is, cute guys are straight sometimes. So instead of wallowing in self-pity, you RIOT! You gotta go up to his dumb face and FESS UP. He flirts with literally anyone! He has to at least bisexual. And if you fail and humiliate yourself, we can watch Pitch Perfect together in a dark room and eat too much ice cream and I can yell at him for you. Alright?”
Keith shakes his head with a small laugh. Even drunk Shiro has his dumb way of cheering Keith up. And, who knows? Maybe his advice is halfway decent.
——————-
I don’t even know what that was. But listen to Shiro, kids! If you’re queer and you know it, then OWN IT! I believe in you, my loves!!

• lance choses his room first because he's pretty overwhelmed by the whole situation
• one minute he's seeing what pidge is up to with hunk back at the garrison
• the next, he's flying in a mechanical blue lion, meeting alteans in some castle on another planet
• he needed some alone time to think things over
• him, hunk, pidge, shiro and ugh- mullet head, are supposed to become the paladins of voltron?
• it was a lot to take in
• when could he see his family?
• would they possibly take a pit stop to earth?
• his family doesn't have a clue on where he is
• keith is following not far behind and notices which bedroom lance chooses
• he looks around the hall as if someone would be there to judge his decision
• and chooses the room right beside lance's
• not because he wanted some excuse to be near lance of course to possibly get rid of the whole rivalry thing
• it just...happened accidentally
• he finds himself regretting his decision
• when lance finds out he's a little taken back, assuming he'd choose a room next to shiro's
• he wasn't going to admit this either because they're rivals 😤
• but he was a bit happy to have keith's room near his
• and would hide how he really feels with a "god. i can't believe mr. drop out PURPOSELY choose his room next to mine just to bug the shit out of me, smh."
• keith's response to that would be something like: "ha...yeah, cause i hate you. a lot. there's no other reason why i choose that room. nope. not at all."
• lance gets obnoxious by blasting music in his bedroom purposely during random times of the day, singing along with the songs
• keith either kicks the wall (which does nothing)
• or comes in the room with his knife held up high
• because of their rooms being together, they're told to wake each other up
• keith ends up having to wake up lance more other than vice versa
• he walks into the room, awkwardly standing there and just kind of staring before actually attempting to wake him up
• he slides lance's headphones down gently and nudges his shoulder
• lance only mumbles, reaching out to grab keith's arm
• keith has a small gay panic and ends up yelling his name, yanking his arm away
• which freaks the fuck out of lance
• he doesn't shut up about how keith "aggressively woke me up like the castle was on fire! i thought getting older meant i wouldn't get crazy wake up calls like the one's my siblings would do."
• the rare and i mean rare times when lance wakes keith up
• lance will barley touch keith's shoulder and he jolts awake, grabbing his knife from under the pillow
• some nights when keith wakes up, due to a nightmare, he hears the gentle yet muffled from a guitar coming from lance's room
• sometimes he'll even hear him singing softly
• it soothes keith, making it easier for him to fall back asleep
• one time keith accidentally walks in on lance playing the guitar during the day
• he sorta freezes up but relaxes his shoulders after a moment
• they just sort of stare at each other in awkward silence
• keith: you know- i've heard you play before- not to sound creepy or anything...and uh, you're pretty good
lance: really? thanks man. playing usually helps me cope when i'm down in the dumps and has just become a hobby of mine
• then lance gives keith the softest smile ever that makes keith's heart pump as if he'd just ran laps around the castle
• he makes up a lame excuse to leave
• lance frowns at his sudden excuse and assumes he'd said the wrong things and starts apologizing
• keith waves him off, apologizing himself, telling lance he wouldn't mind hearing him play some more
• so lance offers he sits across from him as he played
• lance explains the song he's playing was his mothers favorite song, singing the lyrics in spanish
• keith had no idea what he was saying, but that didn't matter
• what mattered was the joy displayed on his face as he sung, confidence shining through his eyes
• at this moment keith had come to realize that his crush he had on lance might be something more
this one went from klance having rooms next to each other to keith pinning over lance playing the guitar- whoops
— 🌙 moon anon
YESYESYES
I cannot believe we have no context for how the paladins chose their rooms?? Like ajdkfl WHAT YOU WROTE IS SO GOOD- the creators couldve totally shown us how the paladins would cope after tough battles by showing us a scene like that???
aaaanyways now for my screeching
I LOVE the langst. like srsly.
Lance would totally feel comfortable with Keith's room next to his- BECAUSE Keith doesn't remember know him as well as the Garrison Duo
Like hear me out,, it's so much easier to let yourself feel sad when you know you don't have to worry about?? making others feel responsible for it????
So Hunk and Pidge would only make him bottle up his feelings more,
Hunk especially would feel bad about Lance feeling bad which would make Lance feel bad and itll just spiral right there
and Shiro is his HERO- absolutely no way Lance wants to show "weakness" around him (very unhealthy mindset btw! feelings ain't bad to have, but I get idk wanting to pretend youre invincible to look good in front of people u admire :/ )
But Keith???? yeah. he'll work....
idk maybe I'm projecting too much with that^ one ahdjfk MOVING ON
awkward keith checking to make sure no one is gathering evidence that he's a simp??? hilarious and completely logical bc pidge and shiro would DRAG HIS ASS if they found out 😂
KEITH PULLING OUT THE KNIFE EVERY CHANCE HE GETS- LIKE THE DRAMATIC KING HE IS??? *CHEF'S KISS*
klance x music! klance x music! klance x music!!!
like that whole last scene was so soft I'm in love with it 🥺❤
PINING KEITH!!! BUT AFTER GETTING TO KNOW LANCE again?? AND LIKE NOT NECESSARILY AWAY??? TOP NOTCH
@lesbianklance come get yall juice

here i will ramble extensively about my klance-centric voltron AU (of which this is a scene):
in a world where Earth has been Galra-occupied for the past twenty years, efforts to assimilate the human population have been mostly unsuccessful. Galra funded military schools, Garrisons, exist to train up the newest generation of fighting humans into Honorary Galrans, the lowest possible class of citizens on planet Earth, re-named in the eyes of the Galran Empire as Area 3010.
Lance is a Garrison deserter. At age 16, he joined the Earth Resistance, abandoning his life of military ease to a life cut out of abandoned buildings and food cooked over dirty trash can fires. But to the rest of the Resistance, Lance is hoping to keep his past at the Garrison a secret- its not exactly something to be proud of. But it was something that was necessary- for the safety of his family.
Keith has been a member of the Blade since birth. His life has always been grounded by artificial gravity and a mother who flits into and out of his life with increasing irregularity. The Blade is the only life he has ever known, and their mission is one that he is prepared to die for. He sometimes dreams of a human father, wondering if he is still out there, somewhere, waiting, wondering about a person who might not care about the mission more than they ever cared about Keith.
when the Blade of Marmora touches down on Area 3010 to aid the Earth Resistance, lance and keith find themselves always ending up on the same missions. and then it happens- keith saves lance’s life. Lance then makes it his mission to seek out this mysterious Blade member and introduce him to earth culture (unbeknownst to lance, keith is half-human himself) as a way of making it up to him. one thing leads to another, and keith realizes that he may have just made his first friend in this strange mischievous human boy.
after a period of a few months, the blade of marmora leaves earth, and so does keith. they all knew it was going to happen, and so their parting is perfunctory. the odds that they would ever see each other again is slim to none, not even counting the fact that either of them could die at any moment. that was just what the blade did - they showed up to a planet, threw in their two cents, and then left the planet’s inhabitants to fend for themselves again.
and so lance and keith expect to never see each other ever again.
in the intervening years (about 5 years later), keith takes an undercover mission onto Shiro’s prison ship. here keith gains his second friend in the Champion- and is eventually the person responsible for breaking Shiro out. the two of them make their way towards earth, the supposed location of the super weapon Voltron, crash-landing (much like canon). but who finds them upon arrival? none other than Pidge Gunderson, Garrison scientist!
much like canon, there was a Kerberos mission here, too-- except it was a very suspicious Galra-run mission that went south for flimsy reasons. pidge suspects that the garrison purposely sabotaged and/or kidnapped the mission’s inhabitants and has joined the garrison herself to find out.
the three of them find the Green Lion being studied under heavy scrutiny at the Garrison, and off they all go toward Arus, proceeding much like canon, except for two glaring differences: there’s no hunk and lance just yet (and also they’re all in their twenties).
the real interesting aspect of his AU kicks off with the realization that they need to find the missing two paladins and their lions. after some research, they get two plans of action: find the leading resistance group against the galra in their galaxy cluster, who are rumored to have a new super weapon at their disposal (could be a lion), and find a notorious group of smugglers who are said to be riding around in a giant metal cat (definitely sounds like a lion).
i didnt touch much on hunk in the earlier synopsis because keith never meets him during his stay on earth, but Hunk has basically been born into the Earth Resistance. His parents are essentially their founders and leaders. he’s the all-around tech guy, making all the weapons, armor, speeders, hovercrafts etc that the Resistance could ever want. he and lance became quick friends once lance joined up with them. hunk was never a front line fighter, not like lance, so keith never ran into him.
so here’s the question: what happened to lance and hunk in these intervening years? Well, to put it simply, as soon as the Blade of Marmora left, the Earth Resistance lost a lot of steam as the Galra slowly but surely stomped them out, one by one. the heart of the Resistance escaped to the stars, joining up with intergalactic efforts- that was mostly Hunk and his family.
But Lance had different priorities (mainly, his own family). Lance may have gotten himself off-world, but his family was still earthbound. the solution was simple: dude needs cash, NOW. enter Rolo and Nyma, smugglers extraordinaire, and their new business partner, LANCE. so lance spends his years doing crimes, getting a hefty bounty on his head, alongside his slightly malfunctioning blue robot lion (the homing system doesnt seem to be working).
under these circumstances, keith and lance reunite again. I think ill leave the story here and elaborate more on it another time if people are interested

Klance AU loosely based on The Proposal (2009)
For KL AU Month day 1: movie au @monthlyklance
Keith is the bitchy boss, an executive editor-in-chief for a major publishing company in New York
Lance is his constantly irked assistant but wants to be an editor
Keith is from Canada and violated the terms of his work visa and is in danger of being deported
After lying to the immigration official about being engaged, Keith persuades Lance to marry him (and then they’ll get divorced later) so he won’t have to go back to Canada. Lance agrees but only if he can get promoted to editor
In front of the immigration official:
Keith: where did you just say we were going this week, honey?
Lance, smirking: we’re going to celebrate my abuela’s 90th birthday... in Cuba
Keith, blinking: Cuba?? Yes, Cuba
Once they’re alone, Keith says, “You never told me your family is from Cuba.”
Lance’s gaze cuts into him. “You never cared enough to ask.”
And Keith has to bite his tongue because he really doesn’t know anything about Lance besides his last name and how he takes his coffee--which is only because he accidentally drank from Lance’s cup once. That’s all left unspoken in the space between them
Trying to come up with how they met in front of the family:
Keith: we met at
Lance: work
Keith: yes work. He got my drink order wrong
Lance: I got you exactly what you asked for
Keith: you didn’t but agree to disagree
Lance, with a strained smile: isn’t he a catch?
Veronica, pulling Lance aside afterwards: isn’t that the boss you always complain about? The one you said, and I quote, you ‘would sooner kiss a frog than ever hang out with that mullet head’
Lance, grimacing: people change?
The shenanigans:
They fall onto each other naked because Keith forgot to bring in a towel when he took a shower and quickly went in search of one and Lance didn't realize anybody else was in the bedroom and had stripped down to also take a shower
If Keith subtly checks Lance out because he just came back all hot and sweaty from surfing and this is the first time he’s seeing Lance shirtless, that is nobody’s business
If Lance catches Keith checking him out and doesn’t comment because he is also checking Keith out--because damn, it never dawned on him that Keith worked out--that is also nobody’s business
Keith tries to contact his work but can't get a signal and his phone is grabbed by a hawk
Lance just watches and laughs and is ultimately no help.
Keith never gets his phone back; he even loses a shoe when he tries to throw it at the stupid bird
Lance films the entire thing
Keith ends up getting roped into playing dress up with Lance’s niblings and when Lance finds them an hour later, he takes a ton of pictures
Keith’s hair may be styled into pigtails and there’s definitely a bottle of glitter on his face but he somehow doesn’t mind?
Lance uses one of the pictures as his new phone wallpaper
It’s the one where Keith shows his middle finger to the camera and Lance smiles fondly every time he turns on his phone now
The bonding moments:
Lance takes Keith out surfing, mostly just to see him epically fail, but unfortunately the waves aren’t great that day and they end up sitting on their surfboards in the ocean talking
Keith admits to being overwhelmed by Lance’s family, but only because both his parents died when he was really young and he never knew what it was like to be around family
Lance is shocked--it was the one thing he never knew about Keith--and feels a little guilty for just throwing him to the wolves. But he let’s Keith know how much his family actually likes and appreciates him
“Honestly,” Lance says when Keith gives him a skeptical look, “my parents have never praised any of my past significant others as much as they do you.”
An unexpected wave capsizes Keith and while Lance still laughs, he does help Keith back up and maybe their hands stay linked together a little longer than necessary
By the third day, Keith apologizes to Lance for being a shitty boss and that he should have been promoted a long time ago but Keith was being selfish because Lance was the best assistant he’s ever had and he didn’t want to lose the one person he could hold somewhat of a conversation with (even if it always set him on edge)
Lance accepts the apology and admits to not making the situation any better by being a jerk back
They fall asleep in the same bed for the first time
And yes, they wake up tangled together
But ultimately:
Keith sees Lance completely carefree and in his element, and realizes that he’s been unfair to Lance as a boss--pretty down right shitty, if he’s really being honest. And Keith also realizes that yes while he has always been able to admit that Lance is attractive, maybe he’s starting to see other sides of Lance that he likes a lot. That goofiness is endearing and he’s starting to really appreciate Lance’s need for direct human contact, especially when they “fake” cuddle in bed. He likes that Lance takes none of his bullshit. And he likes being part of a family, specifically Lance’s family. He just likes being with Lance in general.
Lance, on the other hand, has always refused to admit he is attracted to Keith. But seeing his boss out of his element and frazzled but also being kind to his family and playing with his niblings and fitting in so perfectly with his siblings (even if that includes ganging up on Lance to tell embarrassing stories) he feels his cheeks warming. And maybe the cuddling in bed and having to fake being in love around his massive family and showing Keith around his hometown and taking him to all his favorite places has something to do with it. Maybe Lance is starting to realize he wishes it wasn’t fake?? A true shocker
The whole reveal about the fake engagement happens and Keith leaves and Lance chases after him… leading to the typical romcom dramatic airport scene
By the end, they get engaged for real
“Marry me because I’d like to date you.”
“I thought you’d never ask.”

HIIII hope you have been well my dearest last airbender hehe. i have so much exciting things to share <333
so first off, i did two wish rolls the other night and guess what? on one roll i got BOTH bennett AND qiqi!!!!!! (the other one was just weapons but 🤷🏽‍♀️) i love them both so much i literally ascended them the second i got them. i still can’t believe my luck. so now my team looks like: traveller, noelle and those two. i’m having a little issue bc i don’t have a long range combat character but i love them all too much to change anything. which means i struggle sometimes maybe if i roll for someone else in the future i might change but rn i’m LOVING them. have you ever had luck like that?
AND i started watching haikyuu again and i forgot how funny it is. i usually don’t laugh out loud while watching things but i was literally chuckling while watching some moments. i’ve only watched 10 eps-ish but i fell in love with it again at the first ep already. i cant believe i dropped it before i’m so stupid.
ok that’s all the updates i had hahaha ! i was like buzzing waiting to tell you lmaidhdhdbd 🥺
oikawa is SO pretty it’s insane. when he showed up i was like yeah.... that’s him. that’s the pretty boy. but then again pretty much everyone is pretty in haikyuu who the hell are we supposed to focus on hehdhd the art style is just that good yk?
ships that have silent (+ points for angry) yearning are just superior. and usually they fall in the enemies/rivals category which is lovely. nothing is finer than watching people struggle with their feelings like mmmmmm... tasty. also as good as rareships can be, popular ships are popular for a reason yk? like canon content isn’t everything ofc but if canon can back it up in some way more people tend to be interested heh
wanna know something super weird? when i consume content i always fall for the stotic bois with angst backstories first but after i finish the shows i always miss the cute happy babies and that makes me obsessed with them? idk it’s crazy like voltron for example keith is literally my favorite character of all time but when i finished voltron i was literally bawling bc i missed lance so much help
well i guess we’re talking about voltron now HAHA 😭 dude s3 was a fucking blessing i can’t believe we got that and they just cut it off cold. the leader and his right hand man dynamic makes me yell to this day 😭😭😭 remember all the scenes where they continuesly reassured each other 😭 the ‘leave the math to pudge’ scene lives in my head rent free no joke dhdnhdbdud... s3 was just them loving each other tenderly and dw stole it from us.. ALSO PLEASE WRITE THEM AGAIN LITERALLY BEGGING 😭 pls 🥺
dude our government doesn’t give a shit we literally have politics traveling around and chilling without masks. they don’t care at all we barely have any restrictions so people don’t care either. it’s a mess here ngl.. :/
can’t wait to hear from u again... mwah!
hi hi!!!! is this gonna end up being 2 replies in one day for you again HAHAHA i’ll try not to disappear after
!!!!!!!!!! QIQI AND BENNETT??!!?!!!!!!!! oh my goodness… oh my goodness!!! i can’t believe you got a 5 star before me fjskskkdd but big deserve 😭😭😭😩😩😩 i’m so happy for you nejdnskamxlxmm holy shit!!!!! that’s so cute tho that’s such a cute team… and big mood!! who cares about team dynamics/fighting styles all that matters is that you like them 😩 but also does that mean you currently have 3 sword users and 1 claymore on your team jdjsndnsm. i also used to not have a ranged fighter on my team but it just got so inconvenient lolol. and no my luck is actual ass :( so often i only roll weapons, and when i do roll charas it’s like. all the base free ones djdkskdk
haikyuu is SO funny!!! everyone’s humour is so >>>> omg they’re just silly boys… are you restarting it from the very first ep? and it’s all good if you dropped it before bc you’re coming back to it now and that’s what matters 😩 keep me updated tho! i’m so excited to hear what you think
HFJDNSKSN sorry i went mia and made you wait chksjs WHICH REMINDS ME!! omg i’ve been meaning to tell you and keep forgetting but i downloaded genshin on my phone last week for my trip and it’s so??? difficult? like mad mad respect to you for being able to play on mobile omg… maybe it’s just bc i was used to pc already but damn.. djsjjs
HAHA yeah just admiring the visuals instead of focusing on the story.. we’ve all been there 😩 sometimes you just gotta rewind and take 48394993 screenshots of the one scene you know? who let them be so gorgeous..
yesssss the mutual oblivious pining is so good.. like they’re enemies to lovers but they’re also IDIOTS to lovers… or my fave headcanon which hurts so bad… the one person (keith) pining for their rival (lance) but it’s unrequited and they’ve just accepted that and are kinda resigned to it but. they just want them to be happy above all else :’) :’(
and honestly you are so right like if the popular ship are foils and have all these parallels between them and a deep backstory and stuff that’s so good too there’s so much food AHAH
omg that’s kinda cute tho.. like once you’re done you enter the honeymoon phase w bubbly outgoing charas.. (speaking of honeymoons when’s ours 🤪) speaking of lance he deserved everything lmao.. he deserves everything PRESENT TENSE!!! wow we are really talking about vld in 2021 huh
LEAVE THE MATH TO PIDGE!!! I AM SCREAMING JUST THIBKING ABLIT THIS TOO!! WHAT THE FUCK DOCYOUCMEAN KEITH. WHY DIDNYOUCSAY IT WITH THAT SMILE. LANCE WHY DIDNYOU SMILE LIKE THAT IN RETURN. LEAVE THE MATH TO- KEITH EXPLAIN??? WHA WERE YOU WDOIDJGNDKDNSKFKDKFNDNNCMS the way that lance went from ‘despising’ keith and hating being beaten by him in everything to SEEKING OUT HIS ADVICE AND COMFORT???? IF THAT ISNT GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS like their relationship progressed so so so so so so so so SO much in that one single season… like. i cannot BELIEVE that was real???? no fucking way. like. we were literally so close.. SO FUCKING CLOSE!!!!!!!! my god the trust they had in each other..… LANCE SEEKING KEITH OUT!!! lance accepting keith as the leader before even keith accepted himself EVEN WHEN LANCE HIMSELF SO DESPARATELY WANTED TO BE THE BLACK PALADIN bUT RECOGNISING IT WASNT WHAT THE BLACK LION WANTED AND i have to stop or else i’ll literally never stop typing chskdkdkndcuksncjxjskcoskosnaksj
hhhhhhh i wanna write them sometimes i get hit with the feels SO SO BAD (like just then? LOL) but i haven’t properly written them in so long i feel like i don’t even know how to anymore D; but anyway do you have any prompts? i have so many wips (i have one fic that i said was gonna be my Final klance fic but lmao i’m never gonna finish it at this stage so i guess i’m also not done writing klance? lmao) but after a while i just. have no desire to go back to them anymore fjdjjx so something new might spark my motivation! but also no promises sorry i always say i’ll do shit but never do JEKSKS altho i will try!! i’ll try bust out at least a drabble even if it ends up as an unfinished wip as well lol 😩
oh fucking rip that’s so horrible i’m so sorry you have to deal with that :((( legit it’s so upsetting to see so many governments just. complacent and not caring about this issue at all like?? this is your job? you’re literally meant to be doing all these things to help us right now and you’re just not. which i guess unfortunately also makes sense bc they’re the ones who would suffer least. it’s so frustrating lmaoooo >:(
:***** i’ve stayed up again bc i am Not intelligent fjskdk but i’m looking forward to your response!! goodnight and sweet dreamssss (for when you next sleep LOL) 💗😘

Again
Klance, some NSFW bits, 5910 words.
Years after their beak up, Keith finally goes on a date and who should come across his little outing, but the man who broke his heart.
You’ve already read the beginning per my post here but I posted it all together because I felt like it, so just scroll past it if you need to.
As usual, I got derailed. There will be a (probably waaaay more nsfw) bonus to this later if I have anything to say about it though.
---
To set the scene, Keith is in a booth sitting across the table from some cute nameless guy, they’re making polite conversation and Keith is smiling, not really feeling much but the effort is there. He’s been single for years now other than a couple one night stands to scratch an itch that never worked. It was time he got back out here and found someone to love as much as he who should not be named.
But god does he love he who should not be named—
Did. God did. Past tense. No current love. No sir.
So, Keith is doing his goddamn best okay.
And the guy across the table is so sweet and so kind and even pretty attractive— though not as attractive as he who should not be named but uhh let’s face it, that kind of luck was pretty unlikely to happen to Keith again.
Someone as attractive as that man who wasn’t going to break his heart? Yeah. Totally. Totally not real.
Ow.
Okay stop.
“No no I totally agree, it would have been so easy for them to go the right route but they just had to mess it up.” Keith offers to the conversation, fingers tapping awkwardly on the side of the table while they wait for their server to come back with their food.
The guy laughs, and it’s a cute laugh. Cuter even than he who shall not be named because his laugh always sounded so goddamn stupid but—
But Keith fucking loved his laugh. Loved the way he’d look down just before as if embarrassed by how funny he just found something. Loved the way he’d stand around with his jaw gaping like a fish. Loved every stupid thing about that horrible stupid man—
Keith stop, you’re on a date with a cute boy, stop, it’s been years, it’s been actual years, don’t do this to yourself, move on.
Why is he thinking about this dude so much anyway? Is it just the fact it’s a date? It’s a genuine smack in the face to every promise he’d made not to love anyone but that reckless stupid—
  Chill. Chill chill chill.
Why does he feel so nervous? So on display, so judged. The guy across the table from him isn’t even trying to mentally undress him, so this uneasy feeling isn’t coming from him.
Quickly Keith scans the restaurant, looking for some homophobic idiot or someone who thinks it’s gross Keith went out wearing leggings as pants. (He likes them, fuck off.)
He doesn’t find anyone.
He must be imagining it.
Must be.
Must be.
“Hey, don’t look, but there’s a dude behind you— over by the bar who will not stop staring at the back of your head. I think he spaced out.”
  Space. Lance loved space.
Bad sign.
Keith makes to turn his head and his date laughs again, quickly reaching out to hold his hand and draw his attention back to him, “Hey, I said don’t look!”
Keith looks up into his smile and nods awkwardly before settling on his hand. It stays there, even if Keith is no longer turning. Keith isn’t sure how he feels about it.
It’s been… a really long time since anyone’s held his hand.
He decides he’ll let it be for now. His date seems to like that and casually rubs his thumb over his skin.
  Like Lance used to do.
Ah god it’s been years, is Keith really, really still not ready?! Lance sure was! Lance moved on through the whole damn university’s freshman class before Keith was even done coming to terms with the fact, they were over. Who does that?! Who bleeds love and romance like Lance does and then just— just— trivialize it with a bunch of nobodies while the love of his supposed life curls up on the floor of his dorm trying to figure out what the fucking phantom limb pain is— and let’s face it, he couldn’t just call his brother all “we broke up and it feels like I lost my right hand” cause Shiro would then have every right to disown him.
No. No. Keith should be over this. So fucking over this.
So UNBELIEVABLY FUCKING OVER THIS—
He looks at his date and stares into his eyes as softly as he’s able, casually reaching over to cover his hand with his in a way he hopes is reassuring.
“Right, right… so what were we talking about?”
His date smiles wide at the movement before his face takes on a more serious edge.
“Oh boy. Now he’s coming over. Shit.”
Keith pulls a face, about to inform his date he could probably take just about anyone who wants to cause them trouble when a familiar voice crashes through his senses like a bloody train wreck.
  “Knew I recognized that mullet.”
  No.
Keith retrieves both his hands and slips them under the table to grip at his knees.
Of all the horrible luck...
  “Oh— you know him?”
  No gods no please.
This can’t be happening. This can’t be happening this can’t…!
“Yeah man. Keithykins here and I go way back.”
Keithykins. Keith hated when Lance called him that. It always meant he was up to no good which he clearly was at this exact moment.
But Keith couldn’t move. Couldn’t look up. Because Lance’s voice is doing things to him just the way it’s always done and suddenly he’s 19 again, laying right beside the love of his life as he plays with his hair and holds him close, talking about where they’re gonna move when they graduate…
Lance was supposed to move. He was supposed to be gone. He was supposed to be anywhere but here in this bar sliding into the booth next to him, putting an arm around his shoulders and smelling like heaven never truly left him—
  “Lance don’t—”
Lance reaches forward with the hand not currently squeezing Keith’s shoulder and grabs Keith’s chin.
And Keith wants to stop it, wants so terribly to push him off and beat him half to death with a bar stool but—
But between meeting in high school, falling in love, breaking up and the years Keith spent wishing and wishing and wishing for a moment just like this in his delusional heartbroken state… he’s just— he’s just been in love with Lance for so fucking long how could he ever say no…?
Lance tilts his face up to look at him and Keith could swear it’s like looking at the sun. He’s so bright and beautiful and perfect but it hurts so much it hurts
So much.
How is he still so gorgeous? How have the years not worn him down, made him tired? Made him into something that didn’t have complete and total control of Keith’s heart please—
  “Isn’t that right, kitten?”
Those words amount to two things in Keith as soon as they’re spoken.
First, it’s fury. Blind, “I absolutely will beat you to death with a bar stool” kind of unadulterated fury. The kind of fury Keith is positive Lance has never before had to witness from him because he was always too cute or too funny or too hot (Jesus, baby, take me now!) to leave Keith in that state for long.
Second, and more pressing, unfortunately, was the way Keith ran through the million other times Lance had called him Kitten.
The “too hot” Lance who put Keith’s rage to better use.
He remembers the burn in his thighs, riding Lance in the backseat of the little blue civic, “you’re doing so well kitten, fuck, taking my cock so well!”
He remembered laying on his stomach in his bed, Lance’s face stuffed between his ass cheeks and humming, “you like this Kitten? You want more?” And Keith’s resounding fucking mewl when he sunk his tongue back into his heat.
He remembered sitting in Lance’s lap at a frat party, waiting for Pidge to finish her experiment so they could take her home, indulging in a couple drinks while Lance kept his arms firmly around his waist pressing small little kisses into Keith’s neck.
“Can’t wait to take you home, kitten…”
Keith remembers faintly how that comment had actually come from Lance’s anxiety over asking Keith to meet his family over the winter break and not just because Keith kept squirming against Lance’s cock that night.
He remembers Lance staring at him for a long while, when they’d gotten the BnB for their anniversary and Keith had tried to cook for them.
He remembers Lance’s fond expression after he’d angrily tossed a partly melted spatula into the sink and screeched at him, “What?! What is it?!”
And Lance had so easily slipped out of his chair, wandered up beside him and pressed their foreheads together, “my god, sweetheart, light of my life, kitten, you are so fucking precious… but please let me make breakfast.”
And so the fury melted into a single whispered lie.
“I hate you.”
Lance didn’t plan to go out tonight. He had planned to stay home with a barrel of bluebell ice cream and his cat and binge watch whatever new show he could find on Netflix.
But Hunk had insisted.
Nay, nagged!
And Hunk then confessed, after Lance had already agreed under conditions of bribery, blackmail, and the miraculous healing of Hunks weepy broken heart (the faker), that Hunk had arranged a date for him.
Lance had feigned a hint of interest over FaceTime before hopping in the shower and thumping his head into the wall a number of times that would have been questionable if he’d had a roommate.
Because he didn’t want a date.
He didn’t want anything.
He stupidly selfishly threw away the only thing he ever truly wanted for the unknown other and has spent the last few years regretting that decision with every bland girl and boy who could never make his blood run like—
He’d shaken his head, don’t think about him, you’re not allowed to think about him anymore he’s probably off and about with someone who actually deserves him. Who loves him enough to not be a stupid dunce about a thing like true commitment?
If he could go back.
If he could go back, he’d etch his name into his soul, never let go of his hand, never take him for granted again just—
Stop.
Stop it.
Keith was better off this way.
Lance can live in monotony, it’s his punishment.
Still, he was Lance. And he had an image to maintain. Desire to date or no. He made sure he was dressed like a charmer. Besides, he never really knows does he?
No one will ever be Keith but maybe he can still find some kind of happiness.
Right?
Was he allowed?
He hoped Keith was happy.
He wished Keith was there. Fingers curling in the little tufts of hair at the back of his neck, cracking jokes about Lance’s obsession with his long hair, “you can’t rock it like I can Lance.”
“Like I’d ever want a mullet.”
“You love it.”
I love you.
I love you.
Stupid things he should have said.
He should have said it because even if he didn’t really understand it, he felt it and he knew Keith felt it and if he’d just said it—
  Nope.
Stop.
Not allowed.
He checked himself in the mirror one last time for any minor imperfections and shot Hunk a text that he was on his way.
Of course, leave it to Hunk to not specify which lounge he was currently occupying and for Lance to make assumptions that it was the usual location.
He was sitting at the bar and had already ordered one drink when he got impatient and sent his best friend another slightly irritated text.
“I figured when you were inviting me out that meant you’d be here already…”
The response was an immediate
“What?”
And before he could text back his phone was ringing.
He rolled his eyes, took a sip of his rum and coke and pressed accept.
“Where are you, I don’t see you—” Hunk started before Lance replaced his drink and picked up his phone to face himself and the rest of the lounge behind him.
“I’m chilling at the bar since you couldn’t be bothered to—”
Hunk’s eyes widened and he shook his head, “oh man did I not mention?? We’re at the new place that opened up—”
Lance felt the beginnings of his temper about to flare and grit his teeth, “you’re telling me I’m at the wrong place? Dude, what’s wrong with Altea?!”
“Nothing’s wrong with Altea! It’s just that Shay has friends who just started working at The Balmera and we thought why not?”
“Well maybe you should have said something about that earlier!” Lance groaned and pointed his phone away from himself for a moment so he could rub his temples with his free hand before retrieving his drink.
He briefly heard Hunk mumble something just as he lifted the phone up again and when he could see his friends face again, he just had to ask.
“Yo did someone just get shot or something? Hunk what’s wrong?”
“Oh man. Uh. Nothing. You should get out of there though— like I mean. Hurry up and get over here— shit you started drinking— how about an Uber? I’ll order you an uber.”
Lance stared into the screen for a long moment before deciding Hunk could eat shit on his own time.
“Spill it or the first thing I’m doing when I meet Shay is talking about summer camp.”
“You know what? I would take that hit for you. Because we’re bros, now finish your drink so I can call you an uber.”
That? That was too much. There was no way Hunk was going to just take that abuse unless he was trying to cover for something really bad.
Finally, putting two and two together; Lance turned on his stool to investigate the rest of the bar and he immediately zeroed in on what had caused Hunk to get jumpy.
And honestly, he couldn’t blame him considering how fast his own heart jumped into his throat.
“Lance buddy no- just get over here okay? We’ll have an amazing night, Romelle here is like-- super sweet and dying to meet you- Lance come on-”
Lance didn’t look at his phone, barely registered he was still holding it until he heard his plastic cover start to creak under his tightened grip.
“It- It might not even be him okay!?” Hunk persisted.
Lance isn’t having it. Knew Hunk was spouting nonsense. Knew who that was better than he knew his own name.
Lance used to wake up every morning staring at the back of his head. Played with the ends of his hair. Kissed his neck. Bit into his shoulder. Gripped his hips. Mumbled sappy little nothings against his skin while the dark-haired angel in his arms started to breathe a little shallow and sway his hips…
Lance had actual heaven and he lost it.
But there he was. Perfect and beautiful and making small talk with—
Who the fuck was that?
He doesn’t know how long he’s staring before the beautiful boy turns his head, quick, Lance barely has a moment to register the bars mood lighting glinting off his skin,
But he knows without a doubt.
Hunk is still begging him to listen, to leave, to go out with him and the girls and pretend this wasn’t happening.
But how the hell was Lance supposed to do a thing like that?
The universe had presented him with a gift.
A gift he didn’t feel he deserved, but a gift he absolutely wasn’t going to squander.
If there was even a chance. Even a tiny piece of love left inside Keith for him then he needed to know.
If there was a chance in hell that Keith might ever even look at him the way he used to—he needed—
He hung up on Hunk and walked over without thinking. He spoke before he allowed himself to really look at Keith. He’s so blinded by the angry twisting in his gut when he sees Keith’s beautiful perfect hands in someone else’s grasp— is he still wearing those ridiculous gloves??— man, of course he is.
But then Keith retrieved his hands at the sound of his voice, and Lance follows that motion with his eyes, he really gets to look at him.
His hair has grown out a bit, and he’s broader in the shoulders. Honestly, he’s more gorgeous now than ever. Dressed in black leggings like he used to wear all the time at home, comfortable with one of Lance’s old shirts. Today it’s more black instead, tight, something he probably got before his last growth spurt but only managed to make him look even better as it stretched over his chest and shoulders. Just a little gap of skin at his waist where his shirt didn’t meet the waistband of his pants. Keith’s ivory skin was such a sharp contrast from the darkness he’d bathed himself in it was hard to keep his eyes from being drawn to certain places.
So, he forces himself to look only at Keith’s face then, to see how pointedly Keith tries not to look at him.
He sits down next to him, again without thinking. Maybe because it still feels so damn natural to gravitate to his side.
Lance felt the heat building in his chest, in his face, he knew what he was doing was wrong, he knew he was probably hurting Keith with this but…
Just one more selfish act. He had to look him in the eyes. He needed to see.
And if there’s nothing in Keith’s eyes for him Lance would leave. A quick peck on the cheek so he can tell himself that was their true last kiss, say something polite, try not to hurt himself on his way out of the bar when he’s positive he won’t be able to see from the stupid tears that would definitely build. But he’d leave. If there is nothing left inside of Keith for him Lance would let him be.
So, when Lance reaches out and turns Keith’s face to his, recognizing that look, it’s over.
It’s written all over his face.
The universe has given him a gift. And that gift is a Keith who against all better judgement is still desperately in love with him.
It’s everything in him to not kiss him right there. To not pull him onto his lap and tell the stranger to go. Because Keith is his, has always been his, will always be his.
  “Isn’t that right, kitten?”
  —
By the time his date leaves Keith can’t feel his fingers. Lance’s hands traced circles up and down his side just under the table the whole damn time making Keith feel both dirty and goddamn delighted because fuck, did he miss Lance’s hands but also no, what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck Keith get a hold of yourself?!?
When his date’s brows furrow and he actually tries— god help his poor unfortunate soul— to ask Keith if he’s okay, if they should go, Keith can’t even look at him.
His skin is hot and he’s sure it plays on his face.
And Lance knows it too, casually reaching an arm up to run through Keith’s hair before pushing him into his chest.
And Keith— damn his pathetic heart—he melts right into him.
“We’ve got a bit to catch up on, so I think Keithykins wants to stay, don’t you Gorgeous?”
Keith hates it. Hates himself. Hates Lance.
But he nods.
And with that, the stranger is gone and it’s just Lance and Keith on one side of the booth, Lance’s short nails bluntly scratching affectionately at his scalp.
Keith almost imperceptibly pushing closer, afraid that this is all some cruel joke and when he shows just how much love he still harbors in his heart Lance night pull away.
Might mock him.
Might hurt him.
What other reason could there be for this?
Lance left him. Lance left him to pursue some bullshit ideas about his identity or what the fuck ever, some other piece of crap reason to break up with someone when the truth is you just got bored.
Because that’s right. That’s what it took Keith so long to figure out.
He left because he got bored. Because Keith wasn’t enough for him anymore. Because feelings didn’t matter because caring for one another didn’t matter. Keith wasn’t attentive enough or hot enough or worth enough—
“You okay, sweetheart?” Lance mumbles into the top of his head.
He sounds timid now. Way less the menace that just ruined his date and more someone who might actually care about another person's feelings.
Hah.
Yeah right.
Yeah right yeah right yeah right—
Keith shuts his eyes tight and lifts his head, nosing into Lance’s neck.
He knows his actions won’t match his words, but he can’t help it.
“How the fuck am I supposed to be okay…?”
You’re the fucking devil and I’m still in love with you.
Lance takes a deep breath and his arms wrap tighter around Keith’s waist now, “yeah I uh… this was probably the biggest dick move of my life, huh?”
Keith snorts, and despite how hard he’s trying, he knows his cheeks are getting damp and Lance will notice soon. He lowers his head back to Lance’s chest to put it off as long as possible.
“You can absolutely beat the crap out of me later,” Lance offers.
Keith nearly counters with “let me carve your heart out and maybe we’ll be even.” But instead he huffs again. Because words are difficult right now.
“I just. Couldn’t pass up the chance to… see you again.”
Keith wants to scream.
“You never realize how big this city is until you start wishing you’ll turn a corner and see someone and it just… never happens?”
Keith knew damn well. Spent years after leaving university, a drop out who couldn’t get his act together again, watching for Lance everywhere, hoping to catch his eye and be offered a smile— a brisk jog over, an apology, an offer to get lunch together. Catch up. Try being friends again. Spend a few weeks dancing around each other stupidly until someone cracks and kisses the other and then Keith could finally feel whole again—
Yeah. Keith fucking knew how uselessly huge this fucking city was because he never saw Lance again.
Until now. Until he selfishly and cruelly let himself in on his date and made Keith feel so fucking much.
Proving to Keith that he hadn’t grown past the boy who’d selfishly decided to leave him in the first place.
“I…Uhm… I’m…”
“An idiot.” Keith grits out finally.
Lance physically deflates under Keith’s weight but nods.
“Yeah.”
“Selfish asshole.”
Lance nods again, slowly shifting his head so he can hide his face in the top of Keith’s hair. Not that Keith can see him anyway.
“Fucked up years of my life and the second I try to move past you here you are to fuck it up even more.” Keith continues. He doesn’t want this moment, wrapped in Lance’s arms to end, but he can’t just pretend Lance didn’t hurt him. Lance’s hold doesn’t weaken but Keith is scared all the same, so he wraps his own arms around Lance. It makes the taller man’s breath hitch ever so slightly but Keith can’t care about that. Won’t.
“You’re a cruel man.”
“I know.”
Keith blinks. The dampness on his eyelashes leaves droplets on his face but he can’t quite grasp the dejected way Lance spoke.
He raises his head, removing the barrier and comfort Lance has found in his hair, and looks him in the face.
“I’m a monster Keith. I know.” Lance says again.
And with those words, staring into Lance’s eyes even as he tries to look away, something clicks in his brain.
“No…” Keith breathes out, head bobbing up for a moment as he tries to make a decision.
Lance sees the motion and his eyes widen but he remains anxious, unsettled under Keith’s gaze. But Keith loves him.
Keith loves him and so he presses a small kiss to the corner of his lips.
“No. Not a monster. I know monsters.” Keith mumbles against Lance’s cheek.
“Stupid. Selfish. Reckless. Sometimes cruel. But you’re not a monster, you’ve never been.”
Keith pushes himself up on the booth seat, turns and throws a leg over Lance’s lap. The area is cramped, and his back is against the edge of the table but fuck it.
Fuck all of it.
Fuck the years of his misery fuck how much pain Lance had caused him. Lance was also the cause of the happiest moments of his life and he wanted that back damn it.
He just. Needs to make sure Lance wants it too.
“Tell me… are you sorry, Lance?”
Lance nodded.
“Did you spend these years wallowing in regret?”
Lance’s eyes looked damp too.
“You have no idea.”
Keith nods, “are you sorry for the stupidly devastating way you just handled things right now…?”
Lance opened his mouth to speak but paused. Keith retrieved his arms from where they’d landed on Lance’s chest in the shift in position and Lance reflexively pulled him in closer.
“I’m not going to lie, I’m only sorry it was devastating to you. I’m not sorry that I get to be holding you right now, that you’re in my lap looking at me like you might actually be willing to come home with me…I’m a dick but I’m not going to spit in the face of the universe.”
Keith rolled his eyes and uncrossed his arms, letting them lean against Lance’s chest again.
“You’re a dumbass.”
“Yes.”
“I’m not coming home with you.”
Lance nods quietly at that one. He’s doesn’t seem disappointed, like he knew it was a stretch when he said it.
And it was. And Keith is already letting him off too easy it’s just…
Keith really wants to kiss him. Really wants to go home with him and forget the last few years ever happened. Hold him until morning and know he’ll never leave his side again.
  “You… really hurt me Lance.”
Lance’s brows furrow and he breathes out through his nose and he leans his head forward to press against Keith’s forehead.
“And I am so, so sorry.”
“I could have given you everything— I did give you everything…!” Keith is panicking, because he knows what he wants and knows what he deserves, and he hates that in this moment Lance isn’t both.
And Lance knows it.
“Baby—baby, I know, I know I don’t deserve you. I know I ruined everything for us but please— if you’ll let me, I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you.”
  Fuck.
Fuck Keith wanted to believe him.
“How can I trust that…?” His voice sounds weak and cracked and he hates it. “You couldn’t commit to me before how the hell are you supposed to commit to me like that now?”
“I was a stupid college kid who didn’t know any better. If I could go back to that cute little place we rented on our anniversary— the one where you tried to make pancakes you beautiful absolute chaos creature— I’d have asked you to marry me because living like this, without you has been the worst time of my life and I promise you— I promise—Keith…?”
  “...marry you…?”
Lance blinks, reaching up with one hand and wiping one of Keith’s wayward tears off his cheek as Keith stares at him with wide eyes.
Lance tries to keep the awkward smile from playing on his face because he realizes mentioning marriage when your ex boyfriend is struggling with the idea of being with your ungrateful ass again something that big should probably wait but…
But it’s true. Lance should have asked Keith to marry him then, and he would happily do so now. If Keith wanted.
Keith lowers his head and mumbles something short and quick that Lance doesn’t catch.
“Sweetheart?”
  “You don’t really mean that… do you…?”
Lance sighs and nods, “I do. I know I shouldn’t because I hurt you, but I do. I’ve spent the last few years mourning the life I could have had with you— that we should have had together. Kitten, I promise if you let me I’ll do everything in my power to make sure nothing, especially me, ever hurts you again.”
Keith feels his resolve breaking. As if he had any left when he sat in Lance’s lap and told him he wasn’t a monster.
“Call me that again…” he mumbles, staring at the collar of Lance’s shirt. It’s a deep v neck, showing off a bit of that firm chest Keith loves so much. He wishes he were staring out of love and not because he doesn’t think his heart can handle looking into Lance’s face.
Lance leans forward again, and Keith can hear the smile on his lips even if he can feel the tension in his arms.
“Kitten…”
“I want to kiss you, but I don’t think I can.” Keith barks abruptly. “Feels like I lose if I kiss you. It’s me giving in and forgiving you. But if you kiss me then it’s you being selfish and careless again. But I want to kiss you. So, so badly.”
Lance remains perfectly still for a long moment before Keith makes a small noise, “Please be selfish one more time…?”
And Lance is gone to do his bidding, one hand at the small of Keith’s back, the other just behind his neck as he captures his lips. Heart pounding so loud in his chest he feels like it might actually kill him. But so is Keith’s. Keith whose arms wrap around Lance’s neck and head to keep him as close as possible. Keith who pushes his body and conforms to Lance’s in a way that makes if feel like they’ve never been apart. They always just fit together like this and always would.
Keith’s lips are soft. Softer than he remembered them. A testament to the effort Keith put into his date before he’d come around to wreck it. But given how Keith slowly moves his lips against Lance’s, that Lance is the one who gets to taste those lips even if it’s just for a moment— well then it was kind of worth it right?
But as quick as it starts, it’s over and Keith is panting with his forehead against Lance’s cheek.
“Thank you.” He breathes out. And Lance can’t help it.
Can’t help but say the words out loud, the ones that he never said when he was supposed to before.
“I love you.”
Keith freezes.
Lance feels his insides start to twist uncomfortably.
Keith slowly raises his head to stare into Lance’s face and Lance knows he can’t hide the fear in his eyes.
“Again.” Keith mouths.
Lance’s face implores him, he’s terrified of these words, of saying them to Keith in this position. Talking about his desire to spend the rest of his life with him doesn’t feel as dangerous. If Keith were to hear those words from his lips and fail to believe him— to call him a liar—
  He’s not lying.
He’s not lying, and Keith will know that and even if he doesn’t, even if Keith is still in too much pain to believe those words are true and he lashed out then— well, Lance deserves it doesn’t he?
  “...I love you, Keith.”
Keith is silent, staring, his nearly violet eyes bare through him and give nothing away.
“I always have I was just… too stupid to believe it.. to say it…”
“Lance…” Keith’s voice is steady. “...again.”
  “...I love you…”
  Still Keith watches.
  “Kitten…?”
“I guess you are a monster… to say that to me. Here. Now. Of all times and places…”
Lance feels his heart start to shatter at those words, but it doesn’t match Keith’s face, doesn’t match the way he starts to crawl off his lap but instead holds his hand, keeps their fingers intertwined as he pulls him up off the booth.
“Now you have to take me home, make me feel it.”
  Oh.
Keith smiles at him and Lance feels like he’s seeing the sun shine for the first time in years, in the middle of the night in this parking lot.
Lance smiles and Keith feels like the pit of ice that had started in his gut and travelled up his chest  to swallow up his heart so long ago was finally, finally, melting away.
Lance shows him to his newer blue civic. It’s still an old used car but this one is from this decade. Keith hates it, because he says this car doesn’t remember him like the old one does.
Lance laughs but Keith is already leading him, laying back against the passenger side door and pulling Lance down to him.
It’s an invitation and Lance wants to take it but waits. Waits because after everything, every move from here on out is for Keith.
And Keith intends to take advantage of it, “Hey Lance… you can start now.”
“Start....?”
Keith’s fingers tug at Lance’s V-neck, laying his head back against the car and peering up through hooded eyes, “Say it again. And make me feel it.”
Lance stares at him, feels one of Keith’s knees start to slide up his thigh, and he wonders how the hell he ever gave this up. Lance nuzzles into Keith’s neck, extended as it was by his position, and breaths him in, “God, I love you so much.”
Keith huffs, a more pleasant sound than when he’d done so earlier, “Yeah, I knew it, already getting old…”
Lance raises his head so fast, a small whimper in his throat and Keith laughs outright.
“Relax dumbass... one more time.”
“I don’t think I want to, now.” Lance whines.
Keith rolls his eyes, “Again. Lance. Please.”
Lance kisses him instead. It comes as a surprise and Keith’s hand almost comes up to push him away, but Lance is already leaning back, “No, you don’t have to say please. I love you. I’ll say it however many times you need me to, as many times as I can, no matter how much you want to tease me because fuck it I deserve it.”
Keith leans his head back against the car again, “Yeah, you do. But I’ll stop… for now. You can kiss me again instead.”
Lance nods and moves back in, lips against Keith’s once again, his hands wandering into Keith’s hair and tugging absently because he still can’t grasp how this might actually be his life again and he needed to latch on to something. Keith doesn’t seem to mind. He’s the first to part his lips, tongue not asking for permission so much as demanding it and Lance can’t give it fast enough.
Lance will do better this time. Make sure Keith never regrets tonight.
Will also have to dig out that little red box he’d bought so many years ago. Make good on that overwhelming desire that had scared him so much in the first place.

Daniel (VLD Reboot)
Daniel is the newest member of my next-gen AU.^^ So to be clear, he is not a fan character. He does not belong to me. He is an actual canon character in the previous Voltron incarnation 'Voltron Force'. If you have never heard of Voltron Force before then I don't blame you. I don't know when it exactly came out but I know it was somewhere in the early to mid-2000s based on how the animation looked.XD I only got to like the third episode before I quit it because it was pretty boring. I'm probably biased because I love VLD (which is the newest Voltron series) and that was the first one I saw but still. I do admit though that I still love Lance from what I've seen in this series. No matter what he will always be my son. Also, there's a part in like the 2nd episode (I think it was the second episode) when Keith returns and Lance just looks at him with the most shit-eating grin and just immediately makes fun of Keith's mullet even when Lance in the scene before was almost killed. And when that scene happened my klance loving heart just went to the moon for a second. Until I remembered that Keith is married to Allura in that version... Oh well, a shipper can dream. Anyways, the reason that I decided to make a VLD version of Daniel was that I had watched a couple of Batman films where they introduced Batman's son, Damian Wayne, which then lead me to some Batfam comics with the Robins and I just got the urge to give Shiro and Keith their own little shit of younger brother that they have to look after and make sure doesn't do anything stupid. Just like how Dick has to handle Damian in the movies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Daniel Akagane Nickname(s): Danny Age: 15-16 (In this ref sheet and when he was taken in.) 36 (Present time of the AU) Species: Human-Galra Hybrid Gender: Male Nationality: Unknown Parents: Unknown, Krolia (Adoptive Mother) Siblings: Takashi Shirogane (Adoptive Brother), Keith Kogane (Adoptive Brother)      Backstory -  Daniel was abandoned by his parents when he was just a baby. Due to this happening he never had any idea of who they were or what they looked like, all they left him with was his first name and that was about it. He hadn't even known that he was a hybrid yet, he just thought he looked odd. He grew up in an orphanage for the first few years of his life where he was physically and verbally abused by both the caretakers and the other children. The reason why he was targeted for this harassment was due to him being a hybrid and not a full-blooded Galra, making him seem weaker and a waste of space. By the time he was 9, he decided he had enough and ran away from the orphanage leaving him all on his own. He spent the next few years stealing food from little shops and hiding from law enforcement. Even when the Blade took control over the Empire after the war ended his life wasn't that much different from when he first became homeless. That is until he turned 15 years old. He was going around his normal day, stealing supplies and food he needed for the week, only this time was completely different from his usual outings. Daniel has gotten a few close calls the few times he had to run away from an angry shopkeeper or a sentry but in all those years he was never caught. This time however the shopkeeper was able to outsmart Danny by not only cornering him in an alley but by also destablizing him with a quick claw to the leg so he couldn't get away. But before Danny could recieve his punishment for stealing he was saved by one of the Blade leaders, Krolia, by knocking the shopkeeper out. Krolia gasped in shock when she realized the boy she had just saved was a hybrid. A human-galra hybrid no less (just like her son). She told the other Blade members that had been acompanying her on the patrol to take the uncosious guy into questioning while she went to go talk to the boy. But to her suprise when she looked back Danny was gone. After questioning the infuriated shopkeeper Krolia had learned that the boy had a reputation for stealing food and other items from almost everyone in that area. Which confirmed her susspision that not only was he an orphan but that he was most likely homeless as well. Now being completely worried for the boy she decided to search for him and to keep a close eye on him. Finally finding him a few days later trying to do his usual routine of pickpocketing and getting his hands on any food he could. He was obviously trying to be more careful due to the injury he had gotten in their last encounter. She just lingers around in the background for a while. After the first week of Krolia doing Danny got fed up with and finally confronted her about it. She told him that she saw a lot of potential in him and said that a boy his age shouldn't be living the way he is. She finally gives the offer to him of staying instead with the Blades and training under her. After considering the pros of this Daniel accepts her offer and becomes apart of the Blade. After a month of training under her, Krolia grows quite fond of him. Danny has also gains some respect of the older Blade. After a while Krolia decides to official adopt Daniel as her own son and to also introduce him to her other son and step-son. Their introduction to each other was odd to say the least. When Krolia learns that Danny has never been to Earth before she thought it would be a great idea for him to stay there with Shiro and Keith to live more normal and quiet life for a while. Keith becomes the main caretaker of Daniel on Earth with Shiro checking in because in Shiro's words it's Keith's turn to look after an emotionaly unstable, emo teenager now. Extras - Skills/Weapons - Due to him having to steal everything he needs to survive and evading sentries he gained a lot of agility skills over time. During his time at the orphanage, the caretakers provided many lessons in combat and weaponry so they can make more soldiers for the Galra empire. So he was even able to use and to progress those skills while running away after stealing from other Galra for resources and being able to defend himself if need be. During one of his escapades, he found a pair of mounted claws, realizing they could be of use to him he took them as well and they are now his main weapon of use. Relationships - He has a strong bond with Krolia. Being that she was the woman who took him he has a lot of respect for her. He mostly calls her by her first name but there have been some that he called her mom by accident. She's basically the first person to become a mother to him. His relationship with Keith is rocky at first. You put two people together who have similar stubborn, hotheaded personalites they are definitely gonna clash with each other. With Keith trying to keep Daniel under control and thinking he's a brat and Daniel thinking Keith is too overbearing and not taking him seriously. But after a while the two start get closer and realize that they do have a lot in common and how to deal with each other's flaws. They bicker and make fun of the other but it's from a better place now. Daniel's relationship with Shiro is very different from his relationship with Keith. From the start Danny was kind of awkward with Shiro. He just didn't really know how to act around. I mean Shiro looked like a tired, kind old man who had been through some shit. He didn't really want to make that worse. Shiro would him some spacedad talks when he was frustrated with something or got angry. Danny gets less and less uncomfortable with him as time goes on and starts seeing him as someone he can depend on. As his relationships with his nephews and niece... he will literally murder anyone who even thinks about harming a hair on their head. Like a good uncle should. Fun fact - Shiro was actually the one to give Daniel his last name. He wanted all three of them to keep the theme of -gane in their last names so he suggested Akagane. Daniel couldn't really say no so he just went along with it. (Get it? Cause their names mean Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Well... Akagane technically means copper but... same thing right? I think.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's pretty much all I have on him for now. Hope you guys enjoy this 3rd edition to the broganes.^^

So...
Watching the end of Voltron and rewatching season 6 (part 1 + 2) of Teen Wolf lead me to notice some things:
1. The show starts off much more lighthearted than the later seasons are. -Teen Wolf starts out kind of Twilight-esque. -Voltron was intended to be a kids show -The amount of violence and horror in Teen Wolf in the later seasons is not something found in dumb teen movies -Voltron in the later seasons attempts to address (I’m not saying they do a good job) the mature themes of loss, the horrors of war, mental illness (Keith is maybe suicidal, Lance is dealing with low self esteem, Shiro has PTSD) and sacrifice (Allura obviously but also almost Keith)
2. The plot gets convoluted and there’s too many villains. -Alpha Pack, Theo and the Dread Doctors, Evil Stiles, The Wild Hunt -Who is the main bad guy after Zarkon dies? -While watching Teen Wolf I feel like I should have a list of who leaves and where they go. Did they die or did they just fuck off to Europe I don’t remember
3. QUEER BAITING -I have nothing to say...Jeremy I trusted you!! We had a bonding moment my ass -Honestly Tyler and Dylan were literally on a ship. They were literally cuddling on a ship. Are you telling me that’s not queer baiting? I’m so angry NEXT
4. Kinda representation but not really. UGH you thought I was done? I’m not done.
-I will concede that Teen Wolf does a better job of this but to be fair Teen Wolf is supposed to exist in a world without homophobia. SO! What is Jackson’s sexuality? How the fuck did Jackson and Ethan become a couple? What was up with Liam and Theo in the elevator (also in the last season in general)? Is Stiles Bi? He never answered that woman’s (Katlin’s?) question. Does Derek have to shove Stiles up against walls? -I don’t even have questions to ask because there’s basically no representation. Adam could have been Shiro’s roommate. You wouldn’t even have to change anything. We literally know nothing about the man Shiro ends up marrying and everything we do get is in the last 30 seconds like they slapped it on to keep us from rioting
And the most frustrating part is we know at least some of the animators and directors and creators aren’t afraid of LGBT representation because these are the people who worked on legend of Korra and these are the people that said the show exists in a world without homophobia UGH ANYWAY!
5. For very different shows they have very similar endings. You kinda know where the characters are going in life but there’s still questions unanswered. -What is Theo doing in the tunnels? Scott’s voiceover says he’s an ally but last we saw we didn’t trust him also he was homeless so where is he living? Is he going to stay in Beacon Hills? I’m probably the only one who cares what Theo is doing so let’s move on. Alec. He’s joining the pack so? Is he moving to Beacon Hills? Where’s he gonna live? Are we just trusting Liam with strange werewolves that we adopt? Did Malia ever go to Paris? Did Scott go to college? And is Stiles in the FBI? Or is Monroe more important? Are Lydia and Stiles dating? Is Derek going to move back to Beacon Hills? Is Derek ever going to have a permanent residence? What happened to Danny? That’s not even really about the ending he just disappeared and I have questions! -We never get reunion hugs and I’m mad about it. Lance’s homesickness is a major topic and we never get to see him run slow-mo into his mother’s arms. Ridiculous. Lance just mourns his girlfriend forever? Are you kidding me they were dating for like 5 minutes. What is Coran doing? What about Romelle? And Keith is...alone? Forever? Idk I’ll be honest it was hard to read the postcards through ALL OF MY TEARS ABOUT KLANCE NOT BEING CANON
let’s talk about that
If you haven’t already, put those shipper goggles on because we’re going to talk about Sterek and Klance!
So...Derek and Keith are kinda the same person...and Stiles and Lance are kinda the same person...They got us twice! With the same ship! In all seriousness though I know that Derek and Keith, and Stiles and Lance are not the same people but they’re pretty similar and we’re here to talk about similarities.
D/K: brooding, good in a fight, does not talk about emotions
S/L: will not stop talking, probs bi with a crush on D/K and relentlessly flirts with the girl of their dreams that they have no chance with
And if you look at the course of their relationships they’re basically identical:
Starts off good. S/L knows D/K. (Stiles tells Scott Dereks whole background and Lance can recognize Keith by the back of his head at night with 100% confidence and accuracy) S/L almost immediately accuses D/K of something (Derek of murder and Keith of always trying to one up Lance) Definitely some sexual tension.
A brief interlude for some moments: Bonding Moment™️. We did it. We are a good team. Hey Lance I got your lion back. Leave the math to Pidge. Hey man we all miss Shiro. Pool Scene. (I meant pool scene in reference to Sterek but klance has one too. You see what I mean??) I think you two make a pretty good pair (everyone say thanks Matt). Start the car or I’m going to rip your throat out with my teeth. Sourwolf (yeah we’re gonna take that and run)
Literally save each other’s lives. Would probably die for the other.
Then one of them fucks off (and I scream “WHERE IS D/K I LOVE HIM” for the next 20 episodes)
S/L gets the girl that they’ve been pining over for forever who previously showed literally no interest in him
And then they have a reunion and you think maybe cause the keep having meaningful interactions but NO
Stiles does a spit take when he sees shirtless Derek running through the woods and then he says he got a little excited. Lance checks the hell out of Keith when he comes back 2 years older. Idk what’s real about the FBI op scene (I assume something in between probably closer to Derek’s version) but Stiles went on a dangerous op to save Derek’s ass and then I assume they drove back to Beacon Hills together in Stiles’ shitty Jeep (someone please give me a road trip fic). Keith and Lance have that rooftop scene. They literally watch the sunset together.
So yeah...I don’t know what to do with this information I have found. But it’s interesting.

Shatter: part 1
*whispers* I swear I’m writing fluff in my ghost au but at the moment I wanna write a zombie apocalypse scene that I had in my head for my oc’s but was unable to write due to a past friend not willing to write with me anymore so here it is
klance form
Summary: Keith and Lance are set up on a mission to gather supplies within a small town. It was meant to be an easy errand, one they have done before. But the situation turns dire when Keith ends up getting bit and doesn’t tell the team.  Nor Lance.
----------------------
Keith lied awake in bed, Lance knocked out from the day’s earlier expedition. He is curled up besides Keith, his head resting in the crook of his neck and a hand in Keith’s. He was content. Most likely dreaming about finding his family. Dreaming of a world where the dead stayed dead and you could walk anywhere without the fear of being eaten.
Keith wanted to dream like that. Have his entire mind submerged in fantasy, living in another reality for five minutes instead of the remainder of his life in the absolute shithole humanity managed to dig themselves into.
He wanted to imagine his life extending far beyond a couple of days, looking forward to red and blue tulips and a flowery path leading to a priest, bands of gold embracing his marriage finger.
But no. He does not have eternity. He does not have a year. He does not have 24 hours, because the throbbing in his side reminded him of what is to come. To relive the early days of the zombie infestation, his parents being turned and Keith being forced to kill them.
Is that what awaits him? A cold death. A brutal death. Either one by a bullet to the head or his human will slipping from his fingers, it overwhelmed by the need to feed and the desire to sink his teeth into soft, pulsing flesh.
He didn’t eat, but his stomach churned to expel the nausea.
Keith slowly got up, slipping his arm out of Lance’s grasp. Lance frowned in his sleep, wondering where the warmth of his partner went. To ease him, Keith kissed the top of his head, whispering he needed to use the bathroom. It smoothed out Lance’s features, him mumbling a faint “kay...ove you...” before those beautiful whisps of imagination and ‘what ifs’ ebbed him back into a blessed slumber.
When Keith locked himself in the bathroom, he covered the small window far up above the toilet with its black drapes. He switched on his flashlight and pulled his shirt up, hissing as he prodded on the torn, scabbed skin. Purple veins popped out, the yellow and green of infection coursed its way around the bite, Keith suppressing the urge to claw at it. Make it bleed. Swallowing the wave of chipped nails and chilling, metallic shards. Anything so he could feel human.
If he were bit on the arm or leg, he could have easily chopped it off. Hacked at it away until he was sure he was safe, at ease to lose a limb than the life he grew to value. But no. He went out and got bit on the stomach. There is no amputating that.
To think he made such a rookie mistake.
“Hey Keith, lets check out the building over there!” Lance suggested, nudging him with his elbow. “The market is still a little ways away, and usually swarming with undead. Maybe we can find some nonperishable items in the food bank.”
Keith smiled. “Good idea. Hopefully some bottled water, too. We are running low. And we will need some medication for Shiro’s arm.”
Lance tapped his chin. “Hmm, we can try a couple of houses. Hospitals are hard. And it looks like this place is hanging on by a thread.” Lance glanced around, taking in the rotting wood, overgrown weeds, shattered windows, and lack of humans and zombies. It was a small town, afterall. Unlike the city, the place mirrored the dead in outcome.
“Yeah, I had to save your ass last time we were at a hospital.”
Lance pouted. “Hey, it’s not my fault there was a random torso underneath the desk.”
Still had to save you.”
“Keep talking and I’m chopping off your mullet.”
Keith shrugged and kissed him on the lips, silencing him at least for a good five seconds before his face bloomed with blush and began sputtering. “You--! You can’t keep doing that to win an argument!”
“Why?”
“Because--Because--” He fished for a reason, his hook coming out with very little. “Because you just can’t!”
“Smooth, Lance.”
Lance just shoved his hood over his head and tightened the strings. “You’re insufferable. I hope a zombie eats me.”
Keith went quiet. He almost forgot what they were there for. What world they are in. For a brief second, he felt like he was back in the time Before. When he was just a kid trying to pay off his school loans.
Noticing Keith’s silence, Lance peaked from his hoodie. Keith’s eyes are far away, the shine dimmed and his body tense. He could have been mistaken for a statue.
Lance wrapped his hands around his limp one by his side, the other one holding a prepped knife. “Sorry, poor choice in words. If anything, I won’t be eaten.” Lance said, a feather of good fun disguising his comfort. “I’ll be saving the day. Like always.”
Keith, consumed by the past, snapped out of it and looked back at Lance. He melted, the crease in his brow and the infecting paranoia subsiding. Washed away with Lance’s warmth, leaving the mode of survival and embracing the rush of love through those beautiful aquas.
“Yeah. Like always.”
So they went into the abandoned food bank, drunk on the sparkles and butterflies of those moments.
It was a two leveled house made to look like a business, the main foyer holding aged desks and shattered lamps. They checked for any zombies that could be lurking in nooks, crannies, and closets, taking slow footsteps and weapons drawn. The basement, which was flooded, was left unchecked until Keith flashed his light inside, calling to Lance that he was going to dive in and see if there is anything pidge could tinker with. Maybe find some canned food untouched by the murky waters. No doubt the flooding was caused by a broken, rusty pipe. It wasn’t that deep. Up to his knees. Quiet. harmless.
Or so he thought.
He saw what seemed to be an old package of bottled water, Keith not bothering to double check he was safe. He just went to the water, picking one up when it all went wrong.
It all went terribly wrong.
A hand wrapped around his ankle and pulled, Keith losing his footing and splashing into the dirty water, his nose flooded and throat choking for air. He tried to scream, but all that came out was gurgles and bubbles. Lance probably can’t hear him thrash, his face being shoved further down as he caught sight of decaying teeth and skin. His knife gone. He fought for the surface. Writhed and squirmed for his machete, pure terror coursing through his veins as his eyes landed on the teeth inching towards his stomach.
No, no no no no--
As he got hold of the hilt of his machete, red hot pain flared, Keith letting out a scream as a chunk of him is torn out. He pushed and kicked, refusing to be a meal on the zombie’s menu. He kneed the rotting corpse in the head, it releasing Keith as he gasped for oxygen. But he didn’t stop to fully breathe, for he plunged his blade deep into its head.
His ears were ringing. The water tinged with crimson, his eyes seeing nothing as all he registered was the the fact he got bit.
He got bit.
He didn’t even hear Lance call from him above, Keith’s body moving on its own as he angrily sifted through the water, searching for another corpse to kill. To mangle. To destroy, just like they destroyed his future. It was bad enough he lost friends and family during the breakout. Now...Now he is doomed. Branded. Cursed to become one of them. To bring grief to the smiles he adored.
To hurt Lance, already seeing Lance’s serene blues morph into a drought of disbelief and teardrops.
When Lance found Keith due to him not responding to his calls, he discovered a motionless boy, staring down at the zombie and his machete soaked with blood. The face of the undead is barely recognizable, and Lance wondered what provoked Keith to unleash such brutality.
“Keith?” Lance said again, grabbing him by the shoulders and forcing him to look at Lance. He cupped Keith’s face in his hands, asking desperately for a response. “Keith? Keith, are you hurt? Are you okay? Keith?”
He could only muster a weak hug as Lance held him close, shoving a bloodcurdling scream deep within until he was away from Lance.
He had to tell someone. But who?
There was a light knock on the door, Keith shoving his shirt back down.
“Yeah?”
“Keith?” Shiro called. “You okay? I saw your light earlier.”
No doubt. Keith forgot Shiro was on watch tonight.
Keith opened his mouth to say what he usually says, an old habit he was good at. But he stopped, taking in the memory of earlier that day.
He had to tell someone. He had such a short amount of time left. He didn’t want to end up like one of them. But he also didn’t want to be alone.
He took a breath.
“Actually, can you come in? I need to tell you something.”
By the end, the others remained in blissful ignorance, never hearing the choked sob of the dying boy and the drop of a flashlight, the protective glass shattering into a million pieces.
And as Keith walked up the stairs of his and Lance’s room and Shiro lost the sensation of drowsiness to the plans for the next day, Keith curled in the sheets. He kept Lance close, breathing in his smell of sweat and pine and working to memorize it. To savor the last little bit he had with his love, the tears not stopping until morning broke.
Lance greeted him with a sleepy but soft smile. The sunlight not touching the couple, but might as well have with the radiance seeping from a simple glance. Keith wanted to bottle it up, hold it close to him until his dying breath, refusing to let the rain touch it.
But life had other plans. The rain came early. And Lance was left speechless, worry etched in his tone as he asked Keith what was wrong.
“Nothing,” Keith said, wiping away his tears. “Just a nightmare.”
Lance wiped a drop from his cheek, understanding. “Ah. Do you want to talk about it?”
“No...I...” Keith struggled for words, split between telling him and sealing his mouth shut. He hid his face in the pillow, wanting nothing more but to disappear. “Not yet. It’s still fresh. I just want to stay like this for a little longer.”
“Hunk is going to be serving breakfast in a bit. We should go eat something.” Lance suggested, kind but also knowing the team rarely had meals like this. They scored in finding plenty of supplies for a week in the food bank. Hunk no doubt wanted to celebrate by eating a full meal rather than the beans and canned fruit they had lived on.
Keith circled his arms around Lance’s middle, begging for five more minutes. Five more. That was all he needed to gain his bearings. To put his mask back on. To believe he had years left of life than a measly couple of days. Or was it a day now? He did not care. He wanted to focus on the now.
Lance sighed, but combed his hands through Keith’s nest of hair and kissed the top of his hairline, Keith turning into a puddle by the normalcy. The facade everything would be okay, thought deep down he knew it to be a lie.
He hated lies. But this lie is the only one he can allow.
Soon, fatigue laid their sheets, Keith’s vision becoming scarce as the fingers of his lover whisked away his fears. Cascaded them to the wind, his nightmare temporarily being forced into remission.
If he could choose, he would choose to die like this. Caressed and loved. His heart human and his mind content.
Don’t break the illusion.
Don’t shatter.

I’ve been typing and retyping this over and over again for the past few days mostly just for fun bc I like organizing things but a few ppl on twitter wanted to see it, so. Here’s my reasoning for who Lance’s endgame romance is with! I tried to make it as short as possible to hold ppl’s attention while still hitting the key points but it’s still kinda long oops. It’s pretty much just eliminating characters one by one until we’re left with the only possible option which I’m sure everybody knows before even looking under the cut but that’s just because it makes too much sense to be a mystery at this point lol
Also this probably goes without saying but this DOES contain spoilers for season 6 so if you haven’t watched it yet, proceed with caution.
Alright. Leggo.
Ok first off, there are 3 things we know for sure:
Lance is the only one with a confirmed endgame romance
Said romance is slowburn
He’s going to get what he needs rather than what he wants
Because we know it’s slowburn, aka SLOW and subtle and long to build up to, it has to be someone on the team since they’re the only reoccurring characters that he would have any time to build any kind of relationship with.
Shiro, Coran, and Pidge are automatically out cuz they’re not in the same age group which leaves Hunk, Allura, and Keith
Hunk has been in a “relationship” w Shay since season 1 and it’s been mentioned SO often by the writers/VAs, so it’s not him. Which leaves Allura or Keith as the only possible endgames for Lance. This makes sense, seeing as how they actually share quite a lot of similarities.
So let’s look at the Three Big Points for why it can’t possibly be Allura.
Allura/Lance is not slowburn. The literal first words Lance said to Allura were flirting words and his crush on her was always a big part of his character. The crew consistently drills in the fact that he has a crush on her at every given opportunity. This doesn’t fit with what a slowburn romance is. Slowburn means subtlety, and Allura/Lance is NOT subtle. It’s far too obvious.
Allura has never once shown interest in him and every time he flirts with her she’s dismissive, rolling her eyes, even once saying she felt ill. In season 6, the mice straight up told her that Lance liked her and when she found out her face fell and she said “oh…he said that…?” That is not the reaction of someone who’s happy about this news. This point isn’t saying “they won’t be endgame because she didn’t like him at first”, but rather stressing the fact that Allura has had 6 seasons to reciprocate Lance’s feelings and she hasn’t ONCE shown any hint of interest. An interesting scene to note is in episode one of season 6, where Lance takes a hit for her and literally dies for a second before Allura brings him back to life with her magic. They share a moment where they smile very tenderly at each other, and then later on it cuts to a split-screen view of them in their lions, where it shows Allura with an easy, casual smile on her face, and Lance blushing and hugging himself with a very dreamy look on his face. If they were going to be the endgame, THIS would have been the point where Allura would start to realize her feelings for him, but the writers made sure to show that while Lance was replaying the moment over and over again in his head and hugging himself thinking about it, Allura immediately put her game face back on and continued with her life. There is no doubt that she loves him as a friend, but she isn’t into him romantically. If they were to have them get together it would be a stale “boy flirts w girl even tho she doesn’t like him, girl eventually falls in love w him anyway” romance and the writers aren’t THAT shitty.
Allura is a princess of an alien world and a whole race of alien people. Her father and mother are both long dead, and she is the last surviving member of the royal family who could take the throne. In season 6, we find out that Allura & Coran are NOT the last surviving Alteans; there is a whole colony of Alteans out there without a leader, who need a queen. When the war is over Allura is going to step up and become the queen, and spend the rest of her life working to rebuild her planet and culture and help her people grow and survive. Lance, on the other hand, is obviously going to want to go back to earth when the war is all over; he’s shown on multiple occasions to be homesick to the point of crying about it (in fact he’s the ONLY paladin from earth who actually seems to miss it at all), and he misses his family SO much. No matter how much he loves Allura, he won’t choose her over his family, and Allura is definitely not going to give up on the last surviving members of her race to settle down on earth with Lance.
So in conclusion, it’s not Allura, which leaves Keith as the only available option which I know you saw coming but here are the high points anyway because there is literally TOO much evidence to bring up when it comes to klance:
Keith was introduced to us through Lance’s eyes in a very dramatic, significant way
Keith and Lance’s meeting parallel Keith’s parents meeting
they are SO alike and so equal with no kind of power imbalance between them at all
Lance & Keith’s rivalry has been continuously stressed by the crew and the VAs for ages; in fact, it’s arguably the relationship in the show that’s talked about the most
the flashbacks that showed Krolia and Keith’s father falling in love and settling down showed us that Krolia wanted to stay on earth, until she was forced to leave so she could protect her family. she and Keith found each other again, and when the war is over, there is no doubt in my mind that she and him will want to settle down together on earth to be a family again
every time there is a scene in the astral plane there are two very obvious stars that stick out in the background, that are different from the others; one of them is blue, and one of them is red. they don’t blend in naturally with the rest of the environment. they immediately stand out. there’s no reason for them to be there in the first place unless it were foreshadowing something very subtley
there was a scene in season 1 where they HELD HANDS AND SMILED SOFTLY AT EACH OTHER UNDER SOFT PURPLE LIGHTING, that same moment was brought up again in the next episode, and one of the writers has confirmed that Lance did in fact remember it, but that he wasn’t emotionally ready to acknowledge it yet. If you took out that moment, the entire show would have continued on like nothing had ever happened so WHAT WAS THE POINT OF PUTTING IN SUCH A BLATANTLY ROMANTIC SCENE AND THEN SAYING LANCE WASN’T EMOTIONALLY READY TO DEAL WITH IT if it’s not going to lead anywhere?
(the point is that klance is cannon king)
And if you want more proof and have a few hours to spare then you’re gonna wanna read my buddy Keith’s post which goes into much more intimate detail about why Keith is Lance’s love interest. It’s 50k words of nothing but the facts!
THANK YOU AND GOOD NIGHT

Did you say angst?
Read some angsty klance fics
Poor boys <3
!PART 2 HERE!
Space
Missed
Lance isn't the best or brightest. He isn't the funniest or most likeable. Lance doesn't command attention, he has to fight for it.
Lance's friends are geniuses. Top of the class, prodigies.
Despite this, Lance knows he is loved. Lance loves his friends. And he knows they love him just as much as he loves them. He is needed.
19,072 words    AO3
Talk It Out
Keith had noticed for quite some time now that Lance wasn't being his usual self. He had waited for someone else to say something and approach Lance about it - but no one ever did. So once they got Shiro back, he decided that he wouldn't wait any longer and make him talk.
Lance doesn't want to talk about it. At all. Not with Keith, not with anyone else. But somehow, one way or another, Keith gets him to open up. And Lance's reward? A new boyfriend.
10,955 words  AO3
3 years gone
Lance and Keith have been dating a little under three years now. On a mission, Keith and Red crash. Keith ends up losing his memory. He doesn't remember who he is or anything about the team or Lance's and his relationship.
21,959 words   AO3
Cut It Out, Restart
“Sorry guys,” Lance’s voice is clear now, like the static that lives in the earpiece of Keith’s headset is holding its breath too. “I guess you’ll have to find a new Red Paladin after all.”
Someone leaves, someone comes back and war is tough, but we are tougher.
15,073 words   AO3
Three Little Questions
Everyday Lance went to each of his teammates and asked them a question. Everyday Lance was turned away by all but one of them. They didn't know what they were doing to Lance and only one person was going to be able to fix it.

Find Yourself (And Be That)
The one where Lance crashes on a Planet after a mission, can't contact his team, his insecurities strike, he losses his bond with Blue, he saves an entire planet, wins a war and he finds his self worth along the way.

Drastic Measures
Lance is struggling with his insecurities and fears that the team doesn't need him. But their true feelings become clear   when Lance literally sticks his hand into a life or death situation.

The Simplest of Plans
Lance is badly hurt, he needs to get a message to his team to let them know that he and Blue are down but how can he get to his communicator when he is in so much pain?
5,600 words   AO3
Reach out for you (break these walls)
Keith is trying to make himself smaller, to bury his head deeper in his knees, and Lance’s heart freezes in his chest. Anger dissipating like an exploded firework, Lance lets his hand fall limply to his side, mind blurring with static. When he tries to speak, nothing comes out but a choked noise, so he tries again.
“Keith,” he breathes. “Keith I’m not going to hurt you.”
9,139 words   AO3
Leave Me Alone (don't leave me alone)
Lance groans in pain, holding his injuries. He thinks he'll black out from the impacts but it's not before he feels time melt; the way it always does when he knows something's gone horribly wrong. That's when he starts to feel hot.His head is burning with a throb that lets him know how fast his heart is beating. His fingers feel hot for other reasons as they now clutch the skin between his ribs just above where the bottle first struck. The heat is liquid. It's thick. It's blood.
Or
The paladins find out that most of Lance's scars aren't from battles against the Galra, but instead from the battles he fought before Voltron.

torn wires
When Lance falls apart after a devastating mission, the team has to try and pull the pieces back together.

Heroism Gets You Killed
Five times Lance McClain recklessly risked his life to prove his worth to his teammates, and one time they showed him he had nothing to prove.
15,428 words   AO3
What Keeps Him Whole
Lance struggles in space. He knows that he is doing good by being part of the Voltron team, but everything is just constantly moving, difficult, and unrelenting. He's tired. He doesn't know what's keeping him going anymore.
6,398 words  AO3
his own worth
In the middle of the conversation, Lance stops talking and no one notices. It’s not like he had been leading the conversation, for he hadn’t been, but somehow the fact that his lack of input or opinion isn’t noticed tightens the grip loneliness has on his heart. He looks down at his food, his face burning, his throat tightening up.
6,270 words  AO3
The Skies Are Black But Our Hearts Are Made of Gold
Lance knows for sure Keith doesn't like him. Not as a friend, nor family, and definitely not as a life long partner.
He's content that he's at least dying with knowledge of that.
So he watches Keith's mercilessly sword fall upon the gang of soldiers, leaving a blood bath in his wake.
He thinks he's beginning to understand why Keith hates him so much.
He doesn't want to deal with a mess like this.
A mess Lance left behind.
5,495 words   AO3
Silence Speaks Louder
He still turns up for meals and training and annoying people every once in a while, but he's more subdued, from tiredness, he's less talkative, from lack of wanting to, and he's better at training, due to training an extra three hours a night sometimes.
Lance becomes more and more depressed as the weeks go on, but nobody mentions it, they don't even seem to notice aside from the fact his obnoxious personality has taken a backseat as Lance isolates himself.
5,325 words   AO3
I'm With You
Lance pinned the whole mission down to four huge missteps:The first was in sending Keith with him.

we'll make it, you and me
"Keith, if we make it out of this alive, I'm going to kiss you."

Leaving For Good (Letters from Lance)
"Dear Paladins of Voltron (and Coran),
If you're reading this, then that means you've forced your way into my bedroom and discovered that I'm no longer in it. It means that you found my computer, and noticed that I left something behind for you. I'm sorry that I couldn't leave something bigger, better, worth your time and effort, but I'm not very good in that area. I don't know how to be... enough."
15,694 words   AO3
Why don't you see me?
When Lance was a little boy, he was never noticed. He was invisible. So lance made up a game! It usually went like this: “Mom, (insert utterly ridiculous statement here), goodbye!” “Ok honey, be careful.” And then silence It went on like that for years, at least until he was accepted into the Garrison at the age of 14. The Cuban got his 15 minutes of fame, and then he was sent off. Now, Lance finds the same things happening, so he changes the rules just a bit to make things a bit more…. Physical.
6,183 words   AO3
Inessential
“Gotcha,” Lance breathed as he hit the target dead center. He wasn’t called their sharpshooter for nothing and he aimed to keep that title.
He took another deep breath, closing one eye and lining up to hit the next target when a sharp, stabbing pain erupted in his gut, knocking the wind out of him and causing him to fire off to the side, missing it completely.

(I'm Not) Better Off Without You
(Series not completed 9,952 words 2 works)
“So you think I deserve to be happy?”
“Yes! Lance, that’s all I want for you.”
“Then why did you break up with me?”
“I told you, I-”
“Because you made me so happy, Keith. You made me the happiest I’ve ever been in my life. I didn’t care that you didn’t want to cuddle a lot or talk about sappy shit. I didn’t care that you didn’t like pda. All I cared about was being able to just be with you.”
5,936 words   AO3
Hurry up and come back
“I like you”
This isn’t how Keith planned on spending his Friday night, chilling in on a couch playing Mario Cart with one of his closest friends. Not like this, with Lance’s face beet red and looking at him straight in the eyes..
Looking for... Something. He don’t know what. But it’s something he can’t give.
17,147 words   AO3
Just a Joke
“I think I’m going to kill myself,” he announced. “I know that finals are a stressful time, but that doesn’t mean you should joke about something like that,” Shiro scolded mildly.
Lance’s chest tightened and he forced a smile.
"Yeah, you're right. Poor joke."
6,937 words   AO3
Happier
Lance can't just stay and watch Keith move on. It's selfish, he knows, but he isn't strong enough to stay. Solitude doesn't hold anymore charms for Keith now, not since Lance. And especially not since their break-up but why can't he find someone who wants him back? What does it take to be happier?
14,082 words  AO3
Panic Attack
Keith made sure Lance didn’t know how much of a difference he made in his life. Lance didn’t need to know that he was the only thing that made Keith happy, he didn’t need to know that the days they had class together were always his favorites, he didn’t need to know Lance made him feel like he could finally be better, be normal, for once. No, Lance didn’t need that presure. But then one day Keith goes to class and Lance completely ignores him, and maybe he should have told him after all.
Lance was having a hard enough time in English without being distracted by the gorgeous boy sitting next to him. Keith. Smart, shy, but still completely badass. And Lance had it bad for him. When he starts failing the class Lance decides he needs to pay more attention to Professor Coran instead of Mr. Mullet Man. After all what could go wrong, he would pay attention to him again after he started passing. Right?
5,988 words   AO3
Of Heroes and Hellfire
It started with a house fire.
Which, admittedly, made things sound a hell of a lot more dramatic then they actually were. Lance had seen plenty of house fires these past few months.
He was a firefighter, after all.
But then again, the fire wasn't the part that was out of the ordinary. That was Keith, or what he learned the name of the infuriating yet attractive policeman at the scene was.
Because that was the first time they met.
Lance wanted to save people, so he became a firefighter. Keith wanted to save people, so he became a police officer. This is the story of how they fall in love.
12,329 words AO3
Hold on, please
“Shut up. It’s still me hanging out with Plax and the term ‘date’ was implied,” Lance bragged, “so, help me choose an outfit.”
Keith stomach did an uncomfortable flip when Plaxum’s nickname was dropped into the conversation.
Or: Keith has a crush on Lance and suddenly his world is falling apart when he hears Lance has a date.

Icky      (this fic made my face look dumb)
A little bit of pining in their life
A little bit of sickness by his side
A little bit of happiness is what they need
A little bit of depression is what I see
A little bit of angst in the sun
A little bit of crying all night long
A little bit of comfort there he is
A little bit of you that makes me your man
Fic in which Lance McClain goes to a coffee shop everyday and Keith Kogane falls harder with each visit.
Lance has some really bad allergies.

Okay do you agree with me that we were severely deprived of Ezor, Zethrid, Axca, and Veronica content? Because they would be the ultimate lesbian squad like
Do not even. Get. Me. Started.
Too late.
(warning: this is a loooooong post.)
My poor girls, they were so perfect! And don't forget Narti (blind lizard gal) because as much as I think Lotor's whole villain arc thingy was dumb, I will NEVER forgive him for killing her. Never ever ever.
I do refer to them as Lotor and the Lesbians in my head, so I think it's pretty clear what I think about them. (Small note: If they were a band that would be their name.)
And Veronica! She was so cool! You know she steals all the girls her brothers bring home. Like, 'Oh you met someone cool at work? I'm just gonna take her off your hands...' Let's be real, if Veronica was not a fictional character, she would be a notorious lady charmer.
And COME ON. Ezor and Zethrid were LITERALLY DATING. I will take NO ARGUEMENTS. Do we not remember that whole episode where Zethrid went berserk on the paladins cuz she thought Ezor was dead?? And how they looked lovingly into each other's eyes? They had an END SCENE together! Well, it wasn't about them, it was that thing about Keith taking over command of the blade but WHAT-EVER. They were 2 feet away from each other because they were inseparable and in. love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
look at them.
Wait I can do better:
Tumblr media
I'm gonna scream.
And, yeah, they were technically canon but this doesn't count. If Shiro and the dude he married (..Curtis?) get a canon kiss then so do Ezor and Zethrid.
Tumblr media
Before I start my little spiel and Veronica and Acxa, I'm just gonna leave a picture of Narti here for those of you who don't remember her.
She was the one without eyes who could see through the eyes of her cat (honestly so real in a fictional way, love that for her).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ringing any bells? Yeah, I cried when she died. (I made a rhyme!)
NOW.
Veronica and Acxa. They would have been SO CUTE together. And even if they didn't get together, at the very least they should have been best friends. Like the kind of best friends where Acxa is adopted into the McClain family to the point at which she can always be found there just chilling in their house like she owns the place. The kind of best friends that finish each other's sentences and know EVERYTHING about each other. GUYS. This was the VISION.
And you know what? I gonna put a picture of them here in just a sec, but you ALL know what I'm talking about when I say that they had a klance-style bonding moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do not even try to tell me that they did not have potential. They're making awkward love eyes at each other.
(Also, the limited fanart that exists of them is SO. CUTE.)
Honestly, if the show really wanted to show representation that bad, then why couldn't these ships be real? Adam is great and all that, but if we're going to introduce a queer relationship in the name of representation, then maybe don't kill him off for the sake of drama after only about 5 minutes total screentime.
In fact, Shiro's whole thing was messed up. Yes, I get that he's a queer icon, but why are these things being forced on him? Instead of putting him with another character that also only got 5 minutes of screentime, maybe his end scene could be something like, 'Shiro went and finally got the therapy he deserved' or 'Shiro and Keith spent quality time together now that they were no longer separated' or even, 'Shiro retired from military business and built a comfortable life for himself as a coffee shop owner.'
He. Does. Not. Need. No. Man.
Based on the fact that he still has that Garrison-issued arm, he is still in relations with them in some way. And maybe he quit and just got to keep the arm, but that needed to be specified. Are we forgetting his previous trauma? His periodic flashbacks? The fact that his body was taken over by alien life and used to INJURE HIS YOUNGER BROTHER? The very same brother that he was a role model to?
And maybe we could have kicked Lance's scene out and instead shown him with his family? That would have been a great place to insert Veronica and show them actually bonding like family. Did anyone else find it weird that we got basically no scenes of them interacting in space? With their personalities, they should have been gossiping and having spa days left and right, but there was nothing of the sort.
Wait, I'm sorry, I got off topic.
Where was I? Oh yeah.
The most talked about example of queerbaiting is always Klance because as main characters, they're in the spotlight, but these closeted lesbians do in fact exist.
Why did we get Allurance but not Ezor and Zethrid? They were SO CLEARLY compatible and they weren't toxic to each other like Allura and Lance. My main argument against that ship is because of Klance, it's because Allura had just lost someone important and rebounded to Lance, and Lance constantly tried to be the rock for her that she wasn't ready to lean on. He finally had what he wanted from day 1, and realized that if he really wanted it to continue, he would have to change in ways he wasn't ready for.
If that kind of relationship gets a kiss, then Ezor and Zethrid should get one too. They spent their whole time on the show supporting and relying on each other.

Summer - March Klance Prompts from MonthlyKlance - Day 24
Day 24 of March in May...yep...I will not give up!
Also this is some serious fluffy nonsense just so you know before you start :).  The paladins need a vacation :)
Day 24 – Summer
"Where did they even find those jackets?"  Keith asked bewildered.
"At the space mall."  Shiro answered in a similar state of disbelief.
"I fear we may have pushed them too hard."  Allura stuttered.
"It does seem some downtime might be in order."  Coran nodded flinching as Lance pulled out a blonde wig and put it on for the next "scene" in the musical the youngest paladins had decided to put on for their amusement.
"Lance isn't good as a blonde."  Keith commented.  "The poodle skirt fine, but the wig is just off."
"I'm not sure whatever it is that Pidge is wearing is much better.  How many socks did they stuff in her shirt?" Shiro blinked.
 "More than Lance's."  Keith answered.
"You'd think Hunk would have taken off the headband, it doesn't match his jacket at all."  Allura puzzled.
"I'm having trouble keeping track of which part they are playing at which time."  Shiro admitted.
"I'm pretty sure Pidge is Rizzo.  Lance is Sandy and Kenickie.  Hunk is Danny and Frenchie and maybe Marty.  I'm really unclear on the other parts.  I think they keep forgetting to change clothes."  Keith muttered, earning a surprised look from Shiro who didn't think he'd ever seen Grease before.
 ***
"Lance, does dance rather well though."  Coran pointed out as he was switching wigs between playing Sandy and Cha Cha.
The others hummed in agreement, trapped watching the youngest three sing and dance their hearts out.  To be honest for an impromptu musical with no instruments, sets, scripts from memory and a cast of three they were really doing a pretty good job.
 ***
"Are those real cars?  Pidge!" Shiro hollered over the revving engines, before Hunk and Pidge flew off down the hall in their race.
 Keith laughed.
 ***
"Is the message of this show that you should change yourself to match your friends?!"  Allura asked outraged.
Shiro and Keith were not capable of responding given Lance's appearance in the black leather outfit.
 ***
Coran had happily joined the end song and the four of them were giggling and singing about always being together.
Shiro, Allura, and Keith sat watching them dance away, clapping mechanically.
"So, vacation?"  Shiro asked still staring straight ahead.
 "Vacation."  Allura agreed.
"Leather."  Keith muttered watching Lance dance away.
 ***
 And so, a week later…
"I have an announcement."  Allura stood at the head of the table after dinner.  "As it turns out we have no scheduled missions for the next three days and we are near a resort planet that I used to visit as a child called Sabra."
 "What?"  Hunk blinked.
"I have arranged for us, barring any emergency of course, to have rooms at the very same resort I used to visit.  And no worries, Coran went and made the reservations himself to assure that it is still as nice as it was ten thousand years ago."  Allura smiled at them.
"Actually, it's nicer.  Apparently, it was rebuilt recently and is the best of the hotels on the shore." Coran assured.
 "Shore?"  Lance asked in awe.
"Yes, the resort sits on one of the planets many oceans.  Each has a different color.  This one is lavender and was always my favorite.  The entire planet survives on revenue from visiting tourists.  It is considered a non-conflict zone; no weapons are allowed on the planet.  Oh Coran, is the carnival still on the beach?"  Allura asked a childlike gleam in her eyes.
"Yes, indeed Princess, bigger and better than ever."
"A beach?  Ocean? Carnival?"  Lance's eyes blinked open and closed like a doll.
"I think you broke Lance," Pidge snarked.
"I am soooooo excited!"  Hunk grabbed Lance's arm which seemed to snap him out of his shock.  He in turn grabbed Hunk and they were soon screaming and jumping up and down.
"Oh, I need swim trunks?  Coran?" Lance stopped jumping and turned dramatically to Coran.
"No worries, there is an entire section of resort wear in the castle storage, you may come and choose what you like."  He answered with a dramatic twirl of his moustache.  "I will, of course, be able to provide guidance on what is really fashionable."
Lance jumped up and he and Coran were off and ranting about packing for the trip for everyone.
"Don't worry guys, I'll keep an eye on them."  Hunk offered with a wave and headed after them.
As it turns out someone should have had an eye on Allura as well.
"Exactly what is in here?"  Shiro asked exasperated as he lifted the universe's heaviest suitcase/trunk into the shuttle they were using.
"Industrial size hair dryer."  Pidge muttered trying to cram another of the princess’s cases into the back.
"A princess needs to be prepared for all circumstances."  Allura answered primly batting her eyes before laughing and helping pack another huge trunk into the shuttle.
"Is there a weight restriction?"  Hunk asked in awe.
"This is fine."  Coran nodded. "You should have seen her mother pack for vacation."  Coran shook his head then.  "We had to take three shuttles to fit the family and their luggage."
"Sounds fair."  Lance smiled at Allura.  His own trunk was much smaller, but still twice as large as any of the others. Lance had on a huge pair of blue sunglasses, a white button-down shirt and blue and red shorts that hit near his knee. He'd managed to find some kind of Altean sandals that were brown and wrapped around his feet and ankles.
"Shut up, tourist."  Pidge snarked.  She was wearing a green t-shirt and long khaki shorts and the Altean equivalent of flip flops.
"Be nice you two."  Hunk's own bright yellow tank, white shorts, and flip flops made them the post card for beach travelers.
"Are we ready?"  Coran laughed, his own blue and orange striped attire looked like a bathing suit from the 1800's or something.   He even had a blue hat to go with it.
 "Shotgun!"  Lance yelled.
 ***
 Two varga later…
They had parked the castle in an asteroid belt, hidden from sensors and well protected. The planet had assured them it would be safe to orbit, but they were unwilling to leave it unmanned like that and they had all deserved the vacation.  However, the three varga shuttle ride was turning out to be a little much for them all in a single shuttle, crammed into two rows of seats due to someone's excessive packing.
"I called shotgun.  It isn't fair."  Lance complained for the fifth time from the backseat where he was shoved between Keith and Hunk.  Pidge was sitting on Hunk's lap her legs stretched over the top of them.
"Sorry, Lance, the grown-ups got the front seat."  Allura echoed back, not sounding the least bit sorry.
"Like you are so much older!"  Lance huffed.
"At least 10,000 years."  Allura quipped.
"That does not count.  Keith, quit touching me!"  Lance elbowed his neighbor.
"Exactly how am I supposed to do that.  We are packed right against each other."  Keith growled elbowing back.
"Would you quit!  I'm already dying back here.  Shiro, are you sure you can't turn up the air?  I have a Pidge blanket."  Hunk whined.
"It's all the way up, Hunk, and we are freezing up here.  Coran matches his hat."  Shiro sighed.
Coran did look an interesting shade of blue just then.
Pidge shifted in her sleep tickling Lance's legs with her shorts.  He laughed loudly and jerked at the sensation, elbowing both Keith and Hunk in the process.  The other two boys snarled.  Hunk shoved Lance so hard he ran into Keith again.  Keith jabbed a sharp elbow into Lance's stomach making him pitch forward and sliding Pidge's legs into the back of the seat in front of them.
"STOP KICKING THE SEAT!"  Shiro was close to losing his shit.
"Ow."  Lance breathed giving dirty looks to both Hunk and Keith.
Pidge snored and rolled back over onto all of them.
Lance scooted back and spread his elbows and legs as wide as he could pushing against the other boys.
"Enough with the man spread, Lance."  Hunk griped shoving his leg over and leaning on him.
"I'm squished.  You guys keep pushing me around."  Lance growled.
"Then stay in the middle."  Keith stomped on his foot.
"OOW!"  Lance yelled and drove an elbow at Keith's middle, which he blocked and pinched Lance's arm.  "OWW! QUIT!  You guys are being jerks!"
"IF YOU DON'T QUIT FIGHTING BACK THERE I SWEAR I WILL PULL THIS DAMN THING OVER!" Shiro yelled from the front seat.
Keith, Hunk, and Lance all shared a look before they burst out laughing at him. Shiro groaned.
Pidge sat up and yawned, "Are we there yet?"
 ***
The resort and beach were everything that Allura had promised.  The resort hotel stood fifty stories high, reflective glass windows covered the building.  The pale purple water of the ocean washed onto the shore in waves that had Lance and Hunk yelling about surfing.  The white sands of the beach were pristine and stretched as far as they could see. When they landed the pod several different types of aliens all dressed in the same crisp white uniforms rushed out and began moving their luggage.  Allura said that they had condos reserved along the beach.  They were given three small vehicles that looked like hovering golf carts.  They received a map of the resort with locations and times for activities and a reminder that there was a feast planned in their honor for that evening.
Shiro loaded into one cart with Allura and Pidge.  Coran tried to take the wheel on the next, but Keith beat him, which prompted Lance to take the third wheel with Hunk at his side and challenge Keith to a race. Unfortunately, or fortunately as it may be, the carts were very slow, and the race was a pathetic tie.
Allura and Pidge took the first condo, Shiro and Keith the second.  That left Hunk, Coran and Lance in the third.
Lance walked in enjoying the beach themed decorations, of course it was all in purples and not blues, which he would have preferred, but they were soft colors with bright white accents and wave designs over everything, even some oddly square shells. He noticed two beds and a couch in the main area.
"I call the couch."  He announced making it sound like a preference, and not a preemptive move to avoid being stuck with it, as the youngest in a family of five this was not an unusual arrangement for him.  Hunk gave him a grateful smile aware of what he was doing.
"Oh, good choice."  Coran crowed. He pressed a button and the couch cushion lifted to float about five feet from the ground and fluffed out to look like a cloud bed.  "These are supposed to be wonderful to sleep on, though, I'll admit I don't relish the idea of floating in my sleep."
"It's great."  A huge grin split Lance's face and he rushed over to the other condo to tell Keith and Shiro about it.
  ***
At the banquet that evening, there was a huge bonfire and lots of food, dancing and music. Hunk said it was like a Luau. Lance said it was like a family beach party.  The others just thought it was fun.  There was some sort of beverage in a red coconut looking thing that Shiro objected to at first, but after a brief discussion with Allura he allowed.
Lance took a sip and smiled, "It tastes like a Pina Colada!"
"Why do you know what that tastes like?"  Keith frowned.
"My sister-in-law used to let me drink a little of hers, not a lot, just a taste." Lance sipped happily.  "This tastes almost exactly like the ones my brother would make."
Hunk sniffed and sipped tentatively, "It is good."
"Please don't get carried away, no more than three or make that two for you Pidge."  Shiro frowned unsure if this was the proper thing to do.
"Shiro, you are not my parent.  You are like an older brother.  Act like it, be a bad influence once in a while too."  Keith grinned as he sipped.
"Yeah, be the older frat brother that rolls you over, so you don't choke on your vomit after he gets you to drink way too much."  Lance offered.
Hunk, Pidge, Keith, and Shiro stared at him.
"What? Am I the only one that had a life?" Lance chugged the rest of his drink and smiled, "I'm dancing."  He rushed back out to where others were already dancing around the bonfire.
Hunk shrugged looking at the others, "He's not wrong, we are social rejects."
 "I wasn't."  Shiro objected quietly.
"Yes, but what are you now, Space Dad."  Pidge snarked.
Shiro glared at her, downed his drink, and laughed, "Dancing."  He walked away to join Lance, who looked surprised but happy to have Shiro grab him and spin him around.
 "Huh."  Keith offered.
"It does look like fun."  Hunk decided.
"Where are Allura and Coran?"  Pidge asked before spotting them lounging at the bar watching the two dancing paladins. Pidge waved them off and headed over to the Alteans.  She was not dancing.
"So, may I have this dance?"  Hunk asked offering Keith his hand.
"Why not?"  Keith smiled and they both finished their drinks before heading out to join the other two dancing.

Lance woke the next morning sleeping on a cloud.  He smiled and stretched.  He'd danced with everyone he thought, so many smiles and laughs and new dances and Pina Colodas.  He found himself grinning in realization that he had not gotten that drunk and did not have a head ache or naseau this morning, the alien booze must not have been very strong.
He lowered his bed back to the couch and slipped on a hoodie.  The morning was gray and looked chilly.  He didn't bother with shoes.  He went out to beach and walked along the edge of the water, watching the water come and go and walking in and out of it.  Leaving footprints in the white sand.  The colors were wrong, but it reminded him so strongly of home that he half expected his mama to call him to breakfast.  He closed his eyes thinking of the many mornings he had woke before everyone else and done just this, ever since he was deemed old enough to be trusted to stay out of the water when no one else was around.
"Lance?" Keith's voice was quiet, but Lance still jumped.
"You really want to give me a heart attack, don't you?" Lance shook his head, wiping tears on the sleeve of his hoodie.  Keith was dressed in workout clothes and had probably been running as he was sweating and panting a bit.
 "No. You okay?" Keith frowned.
"Yeah, just really reminds me of home.  It's good, but sad too."  Lance sighed. "I wonder when we will get to go home again or even if we ever will."
"We will."  Keith stated like it was a fact.
"You can't know that.  Zarkon has been in power for ten thousand years, do we really think we're going to beat him in a year or two and go home?"
"Sure, Voltron hasn't been around all that time.  We kick his ass and then go home."  Keith smiled slyly.
 "Sure." Lance shook his head.
"Seriously though, we have the weapon he has always feared and there has to be a reason. He knows we can beat him.  We will get back home.  It might take a while but we're going."  Keith put an arm around Lance.
"I like that you're sure."  Lance offered.  He wasn't quite convinced, but it helped that Keith seemed to be.
"Tell me something you used to do on the beach?  Something we could do today?" Keith pried.
"Well, sometimes in the summer we would have sandcastle building contests, Mami would judge them."  Lance smiled at the memory and the crazy things he and his siblings had created.
"We can do that."  Keith nodded. "I've never done that before."
"You've never built a sandcastle?" Lance asked shocked.
"Lance, this is the first time I've ever been to a beach like this."  Keith gestured to the horizon.  "It just keeps going.  It's amazing really."
Lance took several moments to recover, "Okay, so we are building sandcastles, then I'm teaching you to swim in a current like this, and then we are going to make some surfboards.  Oh, and we have to bury you in the sand."  Lance rattled off happily.
"Bury me?"  Keith raised his eyebrows and frowned.
"Don't look at me like that.  You cover up like half of the person with sand or maybe up to their neck, depending on what you are doing.  You can just make it look weird like a head in the sand, or make them look like something else, like a mermaid or something.  It feels cool and it's fun and you've never done it so you're trying it. Also, we have to hunt for seashells, do they have those here?  Well even if they don’t, we can still hunt for them and then we'll know."
Keith smiled in amusement as Lance continued rattling off important things to do as one by one the others joined them.  The sandcastle contest was something to behold.  Pidge had declared that picking teams sucked and had them draw straws. Team one was Keith, Pidge, and Hunk. Team two was Lance, Shiro, and Coran. Allura was the official judge, as obviously a princess knows a lot about castles according to Lance.
Team One's castle was huge, easily eight feet tall at the peak of the highest tower. It bore a striking resemblance to Cinderella's castle, though not enough to worry about a copyright.  Pidge had created a draw bridge that opened and closed and installed some kind of luminescent shells to the interior to give lighting.  Keith had gathered shells and layered them on the towers to act like tile roofs.  It was overall very striking.
Team Two's castle looked like a flying alien city.  It wasn't as tall only about six foot at the top of the central spire, but the towers were decorated with glass and there were spirals of glass in different colors that shot up throughout the castle.  Pidge argued it was cheating.  Lance argued it was just hot sand and why shouldn't they make it since they had Shiro on their team.
Allura declared it a tie over their bickering and told them to come to lunch.  She had a picnic delivered to the beach and they sat on blankets and ate something that looked like peanut butter and jelly - if the peanut butter was made with beans instead of peanuts and the jelly was bacon flavored.
After the meal they all laid out and took a nap.  It was crazy to relax like this and it had really been too long.  Pidge had started to creep away to a laptop, but Allura caught her by the wrist.
"Pidge, everything needs to recharge sometime, even you.  Give yourself this time and when you get back you will be more prepared and will work faster."  Allura begged.  "We can't work ourselves to death; there is no one to take our places."
Pidge paused pondering what Allura had said and then nodded, curling back up on the blanket and snuggling into Hunk's side.  Allura allowed herself to relax again.  This was something they all needed.
The swimming lessons commenced after.  Keith wasn't a bad swimmer and Lance only had to rescue him once before he listened to his fellow paladin about the dangers of the undertow.  Hunk splashed right along with them as did Allura.  Coran, Shiro, and Pidge stayed on the shoreline. Pidge said she was part robot and water was bad for her.  Shiro waved his own anchor of an arm as an excuse and Coran simply laughed and said they couldn't teach an old warbraxlian like himself any new things.    Lance was an amazing swimmer and Keith had a hard time keeping his eyes off of him.  He even challenged the princess to a race.  He lost, but he claimed her shifting into something with flippers was cheating anyway.
Keith was shocked at how exhausted he was when he came out of the water and how heavy his body felt.  Swimming in the ocean was really a lot more tiring than a pool, Lance had been right. Lance grabbed him a towel to lay down on and declared it was time to bury him, so he could take a nap.
When Keith woke to a mermaid tale and breasts he had to clamor out of the sand and chase Lance around the beach for a while until he caught him and dragged him back to the towel and declared it was his turn.  Lance complained he would have been fine with the mermaid body, but Keith gave him the body of a middle-aged man with a beer gut.  Pidge carefully documented both, though the boys were not yet aware of it.  They would be when she needed something.
They were making preparations for the evening meal when an alarm sounded on a device Allura was carrying.  She frowned and tapped at it, before sighing and turning to the others.
"I'm sorry everyone, but we will need to cut this short.  There has been a Galra fleet detected in the vicinity of an alliance planet.  We need to get there and be ready to defend them if needed."  Allura smiled sadly at the paladins, to their credit they all nodded without complaint.  She was proud of them.  "Let's have everything packed and be in the shuttle as quickly as possible.  I would like to wormhole out tonight."
The packing went smoothly.  They had all been aware that this was a possibility and had made accommodations to allow for quick pack ups.
Crowded back in the shuttle on the way to the castle, Lance leaned his head against Keith's shoulder, "How was your first beach trip?”
“It was good.”  Keith smiled softly.
“Sorry we didn't get to go surfing or hunt sea shells." Lance frowned
"It's okay."  Keith shrugged.  "There wasn't anything we could do."
"I know, but I guess we did a lot." Lance suddenly quirked a smile, “We can go surfing and hunt sea shells when we get home.”
"I would like that.  I could see myself living on a beach someday." Keith smiled over at Lance.
"Oh yeah, maybe we could be neighbors?"  Lance smiled thinking about his dreamhouse on the beach.
Keith hummed and turned so that his violet eyes were staring straight into Lance's ocean blues, "Maybe we could be closer than that."
"Oh yeah?"  Lance blinked and licked his lips, before grinning mischievously, "So roomies, huh?"  Hunk choked on laughter and Pidge swatted him in the back of the head, but Lance just laughed at the frustrated look on Keith's face, before leaning back against his shoulder and closing his eyes.
"I could find room for a mullet in my dream house."  Lance muttered as his breathing slowed and evened into sleep.
Keith smiled down at him and wondered what he was getting himself into.

Some thoughts ab Klance after S8
this is sorta longs so hear me out
I have this theory/headcanon that after s8 of Voltron, lance and Keith just slowly realized they were in love.
They're both comfortable with each other, and they're there when the other is struggling. They both know that their relationship is more than just friendship. And They both know that what they feel isn't simply brotherly love. No Keith knows that his feelings for Shiro are different from his feelings for lance. And Lance knows that his feeling towards his sisters and their children aren't even close to what he feels towards Keith. Then how come every time, he always ends up sitting next to Keith? How come every time they have one of their bonding moments his heart flutters and he feels this weird feeling in his chest?
He still loves allura. He always had. She's smart and funny. But Keith? He loves his competitive and ambitious spirit. He loves the face Keith makes whenever he says he doesn't remember their bonding moments. He simply loves.... Keith.
They never realized. Well, Keith realized it before but simply shut down his feeling because lance seemed happy with Allura. And lance simply thought that these feelings couldn't be real. He couldn't fall for a mullet head.
But that's the thing, isn't it. They've always been interested in each other. They've slowly started to get to know each other. Sometimes Keith still visits lance in the farm. It's a quiet afternoon away from his galra duties.
Lance is always happy to have his old leader around.
One day, they sit down together, in front of allura's statue, and watch the sunset and the sky slowly turn dark.
Lance looks up and smiles. Soft sad smile. Again, as I said, lance truly loved allura. He was a loyal one, if he truly loved someone he'll always will.
Keith, of course, is there for him and says, "you miss her, don't you? We all do"
Lance nods and turns his head towards Keith. He's older. Hotter. And definitely more mature looking. Again, his heart skips a beat. Has he always felt this way?
Yes, probably. He won't admit it tho.  No, he assumed he was feeling nostalgic, that's all
Keith noticed something was wrong with lance. He knew lance for years now, he can tell when something is bugging him.
"Is something wrong?" He asked
Lance looked at him surprised. "Will you always be here for me?" He asked back
Keith's heart was beating faster than normal. Way faster. But he couldn't tell him. Not when Lance was still obviously in love with allura.
"Of course. We make a good team remember?"
Lance let out a chuckle. "No I don't," he said, to which Keith responded to by grumbling.
He can't help it anymore. He needs to get this out of his chest before he explodes.
"Lance, I have something I need to tell you."
"Yeah?"
"I like you"
Lance didn't say anything. for a full long minute, he stared at Keith not believing what he just heard.
" it's fine now, I mean I used to like you before-" Keith immediately said panicking
He stopped mid-sentence seeing as there was now a soft blue light.
That was all that he needed. That sentence. To make lance admit what he had hidden deep in his heart for a long time now.
" all this time. I always can to you for advice about her, and all this time..." He slowly started realizing
"Wait lance that's not-"
"Have I been hurting you? I should've known" Muttered lance
Seeing as lance was deep in thought Keith grabbed his face and pulled him really close -too close-
"Stop over thinking it!" He yelled at him, "you were happy and that's all that mattered"
Lance smiled.
"Your Altean marks...? They're glowing..." added Keith
"I know. I feel her. Right next to me. She told me she's happy someone cares about me the way I cared about her," admitted lance, as one single tear fell from his right eye, "I deserve happiness.
She's letting go of me. And I'm letting go of her.
I like you too mullet head. I always have."
Keith smiled softly as lance's mark slowly faded.
Allura made sure not to leave lance until he found his true happiness.
They both got up and started to head for the house. They were both holding hands.
I'm sorry for my shitty writing I just had this idea in my head and I noticed that no one said anything positive about how Voltron ended. I think Voltron didn't show us a lot, but they showed us enough for us to understand.
people can get confused about their feelings. Lance liked allura from the beginning, but he also felt a special attraction towards Keith  (I mean he spotted him from miles away, and he knew his name even tho he's "bad with names") he was obviously fond of both of them, yet he took the easy route and chose allura. Why? Cz he knows she's kind enough to accept him even if she didn't truly love him the way he does.
Don't forget that from lance's point of view, he and Keith used to hate each other, then they were stuck together many times and then he became his leader. To him, Keith was no one but someone much more talented than him. (I mean Keith is the best pilot and then he's the black paladin)
To him, Keith couldn't return his feelings
Oh, how wrong.
Keith, from day one, always appreciated lance. He always wanted lance to notice him. (To him lance is this outgoing, confident social dork) But also to him, lance was a lady's man. All he could do was support him from behind.
Since that day where lance was worried he won't be a paladin, Keith suddenly started going on missions. Has no one noticed? Keith stepped down from the team on purpose to let lance stay on the team.   He also showed his interest in lance in how he was so hung up on their bonding moment. After all, that was the one moment that has him hope that he might have a chance with lance.
After that. During the time lance chose he wanted to date allura. Keith never smiled to lance the way he used to. Before it was an ambitious, competitive smile. Now it's soft, "look at my dork", sad smile. Its because he lost him. Lance chose allura. But at the same time, he wanted lance to Be happy so he didn't do anything. He just let things go. He was there when lance needed him and he'll always be.
And the way lance blushed at Keith (sunset scene). Or how lance and Keith wanted keith/Lance  to survive. And lance said Keith is the future.  (It's a lie actually. Allura brought the team together. She's the princess. If he truly wanted the best for the world he would have picked her, but at the moment where he had to pick who should survive ofc he picked his true love)
same with keith, if he stayed he was going to stay with the rest of the team. The smart choice would have been to chose himself. But no he wanted lance to survive.
Anyways, idk if I'm reading too much into this, but I think this is what's truly behind Voltron.
Lance cared for allura. But he also had feelings for Keith.  Keith without a doubt was head over heels for lance. And allura? She cared for lance. She wanted to be happy just as much she wanted him to be happy so she decided to stay with him. They could have ended up together if she survived but unfortunately, she didn't. So this leaves us with Keith and lance. They're both hot-headed and stubborn but also very fragile and caring and I think that their relationship will only slowly develop after a few years from voltron's ending. That's why it wasn't included. They wanted us to understand that things don't always go the way we want them to. They wanted us to also understand the true relationship between klance.
Again, this is all like 2 am talk and I can't sleep I'm just thinking about this. Idk if I'm over thinking it but this is my own cannon and I don't care DreamWorks.
I, to be honest, had this thought for a while and this is why I'm actually in love with how Voltron ended. In a way I liked how our soft boy got to be happy with allura before she sacrificed herself. And if it took lance that much to admit he loved allura then it'll take as much time for him and Keith. I liked the idea of him slowly healing from losing her. I liked his marks bc in a way that's her way of always being there with him to make sure he's getting the ending he deserves.
This is all full of headcanons filled into one giant ball of cringe but I had to say it

High School Klance AU Part I
So this is an idea that has been floating in my head for ages and I needed to share so bad! Basically this is part 1 of 4 (maybe 8 if I decide to follow them through college, too). It’s gonna be a kinda slowburn thing; at least, they don’t get together right away. ANYHOO I may write some of the scenes in more depth someday but maybe not, who knows? If you feel inspired and want to draw and/or write a scene PLEASE DO OMG I”D BE HONORED. Without further ado:
Freshman Year
-       Keith and Lance are both the new kids freshman year
-       Keith was kicked out of the public school system because he got into a bad fight (it wasn’t his fault)
-       Lance’s family moved from California and they preferred to send him to the private Catholic high school because it’ll give him a better chance at good college’s
-       They’re the first bus stop on the route and they’re the only ones there
-       They have to get to the bus stop early because it’s a long ride to school so they’re standing there in the wee hours of the day; neither of their families are there to see them off
-       They start talking
-       Keith is bad at small talk but Lance is super nervous so their conversation, while stinted, ends up actually being pretty decent
-       On the bus they swap schedules and phone numbers and actually find that they have a lot of interests
-       Lance tells Keith how nervous he is about starting over, something he hadn’t admitted even to his parents who rely on him as the oldest sibling; Keith tells Lance about the fight he got into, which is something he generally doesn’t talk about with anyone
-       They both just know they can trust each other and also they’re awkward freshman with no friends so why not, right?
-       At school they only have one class with each other—math
-       Lance is not bad at making friends but everyone there is pretty much already friends with everyone else so he doesn’t really make another meaningful connection with anyone else
-       Keith doesn’t really care about making friends during classes because he’s just trying really hard not to get kicked out of this school
-       On the bus ride back they do the math homework together
-       Their days are like this for the first week
-       But then Lance meets Hunk who is in his science class and also his lunch period and they become pretty good friends
-       Hunk is a bit of a floater at the school who gets along with everyone but doesn’t have any solid friends (though that changed because he and Lance become best friends before the year is over)
-       Keith tries out for the football team; technically he was supposed to try out over the summer but the coach lets him and a few other freshmen who didn’t know about those tryouts slide
-       Keith does really well and is actually put onto the Junior Varsity team and not the freshman team, though he’s obviously benched
-       He doesn’t think he’ll make friends with the other football players but he spends so much of his time with them that of course they all start to grow close
-       So Lance and Keith only see each other on the morning bus ride (which Keith uses to catch up on sleep most of the time) and in math class
-       But it’s not like they drift apart, exactly
-       They stay in touch; they stay friends
-       And Lance stays really good at reading Keith
-       So good that he can sometimes tell Keith is in a bad way before Keith can and as the year progresses whenever he sees a bad mood or a bunch of stress start to befall his friend he will go out of his way to stop Keith in the hallway, with a hand on his shoulder, meet his eyes, and smile
-       And it always makes Keith feel better because Lance has the best smiles
-       When winter break rolls around Lance invites Hunk’s family and Keith’s family to his families holiday party
-       Keith comes alone but he brought Lance a present
-       Lance got Keith a present, too
-       They swap, kinda in secret, because both boy is a little shy about the gesture
-       Keith got Lance a 3D puzzle of a shark that looks like it’s made of glass when it’s put together
-       Lance got Keith a pair of headphones that are noise cancelling
-       “To help sleep on the bus, I know how loud it gets,” Lance tells him
-       Keith can’t explain why his heart jumps at that and tells Lance he wish he could have gotten him something nicer than just a puzzle
-       But Lance denies it and says it’s an amazing gift and makes the two of them put it together then and there and they have so much fun they’re laughing and barely notice anyone else at the party
-       Hunk has an idea of where this might go but he won’t say anything
-       When schools start up again it’s midterms and everyone is super stressed
-       Lance makes sure that Keith gets a smile every day
-       Keith tries to smile back but he’s worried he’s going to fail his midterms
-       He scrapes by
-       Lance actually does pretty well; better than he ever had in middle school and he’s hella proud of himself
-       Football season is over but a bunch of the team is joining the school’s floor hockey team so Keith does, too
-       He tries to convince Lance to join, too, but Lance is worried if he starts a sport he won’t be able to keep up his grades; also, he prefers swimming or soccer to floor hockey and football
-       Of course, he goes to see every single game (just as he saw every football game, too) because Keith is playing
-       Doesn’t matter if he has to travel far for the games
-       There’s only a few months of school left when Lance is outed
-       He’s bi
-       He’d never even had the chance to come out to his friends or close family
-       But someone found his tumblr and started sharing it with everyone
-       And Lance, being someone who won’t stand down, refused to deny it and pretended he didn’t care that now everyone at his Catholic high school now that he was either going to hell or a freak
-       He got bullied a lot
-       And one of the theology teachers even took him aside to tell him that it was wrong that he liked boys and girls
-       He’s never been more ashamed of being himself but he won’t tell anyone this
-       Hunk is still the best friend ever because he stays by Lance through it all even when other people are leaving graffiti in the men’s room about how they’re probably dating
-       Keith doesn’t know what to do when he finds out
-       He’s furious that Lance is being bullied
-       But also… I mean, Lance is gay? Keith doesn’t know if he’s ever actually met someone who was a guy who liked guys (he probably had but he was a very oblivious kid in middle school)
-       Keith doesn’t say anything for a couple days and actually goes out his way to avoid Lance because he feels weird about it but doesn’t know why and hates himself for not being there for his friend
-       But Lance sees Keith is stressed and stops him in the hall with a hand to the shoulder and a smile
-       Someone snickers and Keith flinches
-       Lance’s smile breaks
-       Absolutely shatters
-       And Keith realizes he fucked up bad because Lance is the closest friend he’s ever had
-       So Keith takes a step closer to Lance and puts his hand on Lance’s shoulder and smiles
-       He offers up his best mirror of the type of smile Lance is always giving him
-       Lance is blinking back tears but seeing Keith’s smile makes it okay
-       “I’m an idiot,” Keith tells him and they both know it’s an apology
-       “It’s ok,” Lance forgives him
-       The rest of the year is kind of hell for Lance, though Keith convinces him to join the soccer team with him (he ends up dropping out because the bullying gets worse around the jock boys)
-       He tells Keith not to drop the team, though
-       Keith does, anyways
-       “Better not stop playing football!” Lance tells him and he means it because he knows how much Keith loves football
-       Keith promises he won’t
-       And then school is over and they’ve both made it through their freshman year at high school
Part II
