Hello! If you’ve been here since the very beginning of this story that means you’ve been here since JANUARY AND IM SO SORRY IT’S TAKEN SO LONG TO CREATE THIS WHOLE THING!!! I didn’t intend for it to be such a long story in the first place, and then I went to Korea for five months so I also had no time to actually write it alkjdgfh NONETHELESS!! Whether you’ve been here since January or started reading recently, thank you so much for reading this very long story! I hope you enjoyed it, it’s been one of my favorites to make even if it’s definitely been the second most difficult (halloween between midnights is always going to be the hardest i swear-) I LOVE YOU, THANKS AGAIN!

Fun facts!:

The name of the story “Fable” I got when I was listening to Nice For What lmaoooo, but I used it also because of the two meanings of the word: the first meaning being “lie” and the second “legend”

Originally Seulgi, Wheein, Seokjin, Taehyung, Jimin, and even Jeongguk were going to be a lot more involved in the story, but I cut a lot of it to make the story shorter (70 chapters short lmaoooooooo)

Actually, one of the biggest flaws in the story for to write is that Y/N and Jisoo had seen the sasaeng before the beginning of the story. Had they not I was going to make Jeongguk the sasaeng lmao plot twist rip

All of the idol companies except one are named after space things! Shine was named after the song by Pentagon HAHA

I think it was pretty obvious in this last chapter, but Y/N and Hoseok’s final twitter icons were taken by one another on the same day on some date they had

I think of all the characters, Hoseok changed the most from beginning to end. I didn’t get to go into his backstory too much, but he actually was quite hardened and even a little arrogant because of his rise to fame, but mellowed out significantly by the end of Fable.

Technically this au’s Y/N dated three members of BTS (Yoongi in high school, then Jin prior to the start of the story, then of course Hoseok) .... girl get it lmao

If you really look at Jisoo and Chaeyoung, though their motivations are similar, Chaeyoung is much worse of a person to me lol. Jisoo paid the stalker and leaked pictures yes, but Chaeyoung created the initial dissension in AMBIANCE to get Y/N kicked out, then also started paying the sasaeng, tried to break up Hoseok and Y/N, and despite what she said she DID instigate the sasaeng confronting Y/N by telling him how unimportant he was to her. She had that in her head at the time. But she only went really off the rails when Y/N started collaborating with Jimin. Jimin meant more to her than breaking Y/N’s career tbh.

All the members of Ambiance are from different groups in real life. I didn’t want it to seem like I was dragging a particular group lol.

The story takes places over the course of about a year, interestingly enough it’s a similar amount of time that it took in real life since it started in January lmao.

Hoseok calls Y/N “Love” in the sense of him saying “my love”

I like Yoongi’s character the best.... he’s a sweetie... loml..

I always had fun writing as the managers lol. Namjoon and Manager Park are sarcastic and blunt.... drag their own idols akldsjghlsh

In this universe, idols aren’t shred apart by the majority of fans for dating, but they still usually keep it on the dl bc of the companies lol

This story DOES have a continuation idea, but I don’t know if I’ll ever get into making it.... maybe someday LOL PEACE OUT

Burn The Stage The Movie: My Experience and Thoughts

I know this is an art blog but I really felt like sharing my thoughts!

This post will consist of:

The general cinematic experience

My thoughts on the movie itself! (I will put this bit under the “Keep reading” tab. I hate spoilers as much as the next guy!)

So - let’s begin!

(Disclaimer: Opinionated)

PART 1: THE GENERAL CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE

The local cinema where I live is located at the top floor of a shopping mall with only one other shop nearby it, which is a restaurant. Take this into consideration.

I arrived at the mall with my friends at around 8 o’ clock. The movie was at 9.15pm but I wanted to get there early because I knew there was a small giveaway for a mock ticket designed by BTSMalaysia on Twitter, and I was afraid if I was late I wouldn’t be able to get it. The cinema lobby was fairly empty except for a small group of people in the corner who were quite obviously ARMYs. One of them had an ARMY bomb and was walking around like he had a duty to do, which he did - it was to hand out the mock tickets. I knew he was the guy I was supposed to approach but I was suddenly frozen with fear and I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I don’t know what came over me. All these doubts flooded into my head, I was scared I was gonna make a fool of myself. Luckily my friend went to approach him for me and we got our mock tickets T_T

After that we went off to go get some food since we still had like an hour till the movie started. I met up with another friend of mine around 8.30pm and she told us that they were having a flash mob up at the cinema lobby and they were playing BTS songs. So we went to go check it out. Surely enough, there was a crowd of people surrounding only two people in the middle who were dancing to Dope (which was being played in the lobby). The cinema was the one playing the music, by the way. Not the crowd. So I guess it means they were encouraging it. Nobody seemed very disturbed by it, and I really hope nobody was. It was cute in a way? Seeing everyone so excited. If the cinema had played more recent and easier songs I think more people would’ve joined in, not just the two. The playlist consisted of Dope, DNA, Baepsae, Anpanman, I NEED U... those kinds of songs. I’ll admit I did kinda cringe though.

It was interesting to see the local ARMYs because sometimes I feel so isolated? But there’s actually a lot more than I would’ve thought. A lot of them seemed to be university and college students, and there were a few parents there too.

I’m so so very glad I got seats right at the back of the cinema. I had a friend who was sitting in the middle rows and she said she was disturbed by the people behind her who were talking during the emotional moments. I hope my friend and I didn’t disturb the people in front of us though... but all we did was make comments once in a while about how cute BTS were haha.

While the ads were running some people were irritated by how many ads there were which is understandable but it was still annoying. Whenever one ad finished, there would be people going, “Please, please, pleeeease,” but when the next ad played they all groaned. Like just... don’t? When the BTS ads started playing a lot of people screamed which doesn’t make much sense to ME but people are excited, okay, I get it. When the movie finally started some people tried to start the fanchant but got shushed and not to be mean but it was kinda funny. This is a MOVIE, not a concert. We should treat it as such. Anyway it gave me some faith in local ARMYs. They were well behaved and I was impressed. Prior to the movie I was SO afraid of my experience being ruined by “no jams” and “Koreaboos”. But it wasn’t! Surprisingly I didn’t hear a single word of Korean from anyone there. Either that or I’m not observant, haha. I’m glad I didn’t hear it, nonetheless. Nobody had their ARMY bombs with them - or if they did, it wasn’t turned on in the cinema hall. There was no screaming (except for the first few shots of the members when the movie started - which I expected). Everyone reacted and laughed along and I think we all enjoyed the movie. I was happy.

PART 2: THOUGHTS ON THE MOVIE

From here on I will be talking about the movie, which means major spoilers! Only click “Keep reading” if you’ve already watched the movie or want to be spoiled!

It was very, very different to the YouTube Red series. I thought I was gonna be basically the same thing, which is why I initially didn’t want to go. But after seeing the trailer and how much new content there was, I decided I would.

Anyway. I like how this movie had a narrative? The whole “Desert, Together, Sea” thing. I just love how they incorporated their hidden track into their movie. I was surprised the movie didn’t touch so much on their struggles? Well it did, but from a different angle. It just wasn’t as explicit as the YouTube Red series (ie. the fainting, the fights, the insecurities). I feel like the movie highlighted more on their togetherness, their family-like bond. Not just with each other but with their staff and even Bang PD. And on BTS’ relationship with ARMY.

The movie shows the side of them we will probably never ever get to see - them being themselves. When they were having their little retreat thing and messing about and having fun in the pool, I couldn’t help but think, “They look like ordinary boys. Having fun with each other, eating, drinking, chatting.” It must be hard to find that balance, you know? Between your idol life and your ordinary life.

It was fun to see the shots of them just hanging, like Jinminkook eating together and joking together and being, well, themselves.

They touched on the pressure they feel to deliver the best performance they can to their fans - which must be an awful lot of pressure, I can imagine. Jimin was so visibly upset at his mistake even after all his brothers were comforting him, telling him he was cool... it was, well, not sad. I don’t know the right emotion to explain it. It was just interesting, I guess? Because, like I said before, we will never get to see this side of them. All we see are the glittery outfits, dazzling smiles, on point performances, an occasional cosy V-live. It can be hard to remember that they, too, are humans.

I wish I could understand Korean so I could’ve gotten Jin’s jokes! The part with him and their personal trainer (?) was so cute. It really does show the bond they have with their staff. And when they were all having dinner together, when Namjoon gave a toast, saying “We couldn’t have done it without (the staff),” (or something like that) and one of them replied, “Well said!” and everyone laughed. Even after they toasted I noticed Jimin chatting to one of the staffs at the table in a friendly way. These boys, they’re so humble.

When they had the meeting with Bang PD - man, that totally put him in a new light. I always see people online calling him not-so-nice things and accusing him of mistreating members, which may or may not be true. But you can’t deny that he cares for BTS. (Or at least seems to, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.) They have said he’s like their father, and the movie showed that. He told them that it was important for them to be happy, and that he was scared that if they continued the way they were that they would be miserable. I just thought that was nice.

The way Yoongi was so excited about all the music equipment in the shop was so cute! They seemed so happy to have a day to themselves to just go out and shop. In fact, they seemed very happy about vacationing in general. When Jin announced that they got a week’s vacation after their Taipei concert he looked very excited. I hope they get more holidays.

I feel like the thing that makes them so humble is the fact that they are AWARE of the fact that this isn’t going to last forever. I feel like that’s what keeps them going, too. How Yoongi said, “There will come a day when we can’t do this even if we wanted to.” Hits hard, man.

I loved how they kept joking about them winning the BBMA and how they kept mentioning it? Not in a prideful way, like... I don’t know? It was just fun. How Hoseok said jokingly to the cameraman, “Hey, you’re working for a BBMA winner!” They were obviously very excited about winning it.

WHEN YEONTAN POPPED UP OH MY GOSH it was so so cute! Everyone in the cinema uwued together haha.

Oooh and when Hoseok hit that high note in Stigma? Wowwww!

Another part which I learned something new was when Taehyung and Hoseok were in a car and Taehyung played 4 o' Clock for him... and he said he wrote it to the character he played in Hwarang - Hansung! That's so cute of him. But turns out it wasn't written to Jimin like we originally thought? Though that was just speculation by Namjoon, right? Anyhow. Taehyung is precious.

There was one line of the narration which stuck out to me, I don’t know why? It went something like, “When you present yourself with confidence, not conceit, you will captivate the hearts of thousands.” Which is very true! In the case of BTS, I feel like one of their major appeals is how humble they are. They present themselves in a way that is confident, but not arrogant.

The relationship BTS and ARMY have is a very interesting one. Codependent. BTS helped ARMY and ARMY helped BTS. We never fail to show our gratefulness for each other. They highlighted this in the movie too.

I didn’t get very emotional during the movie, though. I didn’t cry (I don’t know if I was supposed to - I felt like I was). Some things that made my heart hurt were the orchestra versions of Sea and Spring Day! Please release those tracks! I need them!

Also, a side note... who was the narrator? I have a feeling it wasn't a BTS member so it felt kinda weird. But I suppose BTS are quite busy and may not have had time to narrate a two-hour movie. I don't know.

All in all, it was a sweet movie. BTS’ teamwork is astounding and I truly believe it was fate that brought them together.

As a business student, I feel like this movie was a very smart idea. It brings benefits for all - the cinema company, BigHit, BTS and ARMY. Cinemas get money, BH and BTS get money as well as gaining consumer (ARMY) trust and loyalty and potentially even more clients (fans) from ARMY who brought their non-ARMY friends. ARMY get new content and a whole new understanding of their faves. Win-win, yes? Don’t mind me. That’s just Business Lily speaking.

But yeah, that’s all I can remember... It was enjoyable, but perhaps I would’ve enjoyed it more if I wasn’t sick with a flu haha.

Like Thief, Like Cop: LupinPat Analysis + Speculation

Heyo, back at it again with more LupinPat analysis! Actually, I wanted to wait to write this up until after the May episodes aired since those seem like they’ll be focused on the Pats, but I was sick the other night and ended up writing most of this when I couldn’t sleep lol (albeit incoherently, thanks @ my twitter followers for putting up with me www)

Following the law of chromatic superiority, the teams are leaded by level-headed Kairi and hot-blooded Keiichiro; in the middle are Touma, the eldest of the Lupins with a cynical side, and Sakuya, the youngest of the Pats who is quite optimisic; last but not least, we have cheerful yet naive Umika and cool beauty Tsukasa.

Thieves versus cops -- it’s only natural that they oppose each other in every aspect. But if we look at the teams in a different way, we could also say that they are parallels of each other.

Let’s take a look at the teams lined up

Following this, the orders of the teams are as such:

Touma, Kairi, Umika

Tsukasa, Keiichiro, Sakuya

And like so, Touma and Umika act as Tsukasa’s and Sakuya’s parallels respectively, with Kairi and Keiichiro being both parallels and foils of each other. I’ve talked a little about this before like a month ago lol, but I’ll explain it more in depth now.

First up is Touma and Tsukasa. We don’t know the Pats’ ages as far as I know, but for the sake of this write-up I’ll be assuming they’re about the same as their actors’, making Tsukasa the eldest Patranger. That means age-wise, these two are the same in that they are the eldest of their teams. They are also the most mature, the least willing to deal with bullshit from their other members (Touma usually has something witty to say and Tsukasa’s sure got The Look™ down lol). Despite that, these two get worked up when it comes to something they’re invested in. For Touma, this is Aya, as demonstrated in Episode 3 where Touma acted rather impulsively and rashly in order to get the piece of the Lupin Collection back. In Tsukasa’s case, it’s her work as a detective, which we see her get pre~tty adamant about in Episode 8 as she tries to uncover the Lupins’ true identities.

Moving onto Umika and Sakuya, the youngest of their teams. In a way, both of them act as the morale of their teams -- Umika is the heart of the Lupins, playing peacemaker between Kairi and Touma; Sakuya is certainly the most optimistic of the Pats, even if sometimes this exasperates Tsukasa and Keiichiro LOL These two have also felt bad about their aspirations at one point (Umika being bullied about her fashion sense, Sakuya under-performing during cadet training) but were encouraged by someone else. They’re also the most open-minded of their teams, with both seeing the other team as not an enemy, but as a potential ally within the show’s first few episodes. And just generally, these two seem to have the most fun, I guess, despite their jobs haha (Umika excited to meet Ema Goldini or see some celebrities at the studio, Sakuya being waaaay too into the PR film)

Admittedly Kairi and Keiichiro act more as foils than parallels, but maybe we’ll see more similarities as the story unfolds. Nonetheless, we can already see a few similarities! I think this is most apparent in Episode 5, where their resolves clash. That sounds contradictory to the point, but these two have a lot of passion behind their resolves and are willing to go far for it -- it’s just that their resolves are in opposition, which plays up the foil angle. I’m dipping into headcanon territory here and even stretching a bit haha, but I also think they both have a pride that’s been humbled to an extent. We see it clearly with Keiichiro during Episodes 5 and 6, where he initially takes his loss very hard but then remembers he mustn’t misuse his authority as the police. Kairi’s pride, on the other hand, stems from his inferiority complex with Shori and we can see that he didn’t take his own losses very well with how much he pushes Shori away, that he hates how he can’t compare to Shori. I think the Kairi we see now has been humbled by the loss of his brother, that he realized that his pride and resentment shouldn’t have gotten in the way of his relationship with Shori. Again, I’m stretching but hopefully the show offers more on their dynamic haha

(Also just a fun note, the teams literally mirror each other when lined up!

Back on topic now lol, here comes the speculation. The thought I had that leads to the second part of this write-up? "The Pats are like the Lupins, except they're not fixated on the past."

Here's a line from the OP as translated by Over-Time: “So they can reclaim their frozen time, they’ll spin the dial.” This line is accompanied by these visuals

Naturally, we think of the Lupins' lost loved ones when it comes to this line, but I think this can be applied to the Lupins themselves as well. The Lupins want to bring back their loved ones so badly, they drop everything in order to accomplish their goal. They are frozen in time -- they are not moving on from their past. Of course, there is nothing wrong with their resolve; it’s only instinct to want to bring someone you’ve lost back, but the circumstances in which they’ve become the Lupinrangers are very sketchy. We see the Lupins consider using Zamigo as a backup plan in case things with Kogure don’t work out, but they haven’t really questioned the whole situation. Or perhaps they have, but their wish to get their loved ones back trumps their doubt. In either case, they’re blinded by their desires and are not capable of moving on.

It sounds kinda harsh, telling the Lupins to just move on, doesn’t it haha. I truly want them to reunite with their loved ones as much as everyone else, but how often do these plots actually work out? Usually dead/lost loved ones are used as motivation for the characters or the arc focuses on them learning how to move on; those who don’t expect their loved ones to return and actually make the effort to move on are sometimes rewarded with their loved ones coming back, but it’s certainly not easy (I’d list specific examples from SS/KR, but I don’t want to accidentally spoil someone ;;). Even if the Lupins are able to get their loved ones back, it won’t be as straightforward as they believe it to be.

Digressing a little, but it’ll make sense in a bit (hopefully lol). Here’s a stanza from Chase You Up! Patranger, the Pats’ side of the OP, as translated on the Power Rangers Wiki: “Anticipate their warning, unveil the truth / And teach them what ‘it’s impossible’ means.”

At face value, this most likely refers to the police taking in the thieves and possibly reforming them. But I think we can look at this on a more personal level as well.

As far as we know, the Pats don’t have such a tragic backstory as the Lupins, or if they do, they’re not letting it get to them in the same manner as the Lupins. In contrast to the past-oriented Lupins, the Pats are more present-focused, if not future-focused. What we’ve seen of the Pats, they are capable of taking what comes at them and using it to move forward (Keiichiro’s pride, Sakuya’s training days... aaand here’s to hoping for a meaningful focus for Tsukasa ehe). I think it’s possible that, as the relationship between the Lupins and Pats develop, the Pats will help the Lupins move on -- or at least, look at the bigger picture and realize there’s more going on than what they think.

To add onto this, I’ve seen some people speculate that the Pats may even fill in the hole left behind by the Lupins’ loved ones (like Keiichiro becoming a big brother of sorts to Kairi, Touma and Tsukasa becoming lovers, Sakuya and Umika becoming friends). While I wouldn’t exactly want the Pats to “replace” the Lupins’ lost loves (after all, no one is replaceable), I think the Pats will play a big part in the Lupins’ development.

“What ‘it’s impossible’ means”...

“It’s impossible” could mean that there’s no way for the Lupins to bring back their loved ones and the Pats will help them deal with it, or “It’s impossible” in the sense that “impossible” is just another obstacle to overcome and the Pats will help them through it. No matter what, I can see the Pats becoming good friends with the Lupins and supporting them in their resolve.

TL;DR If we’re talking about the way they’re lined up, the Lupins and Pats act as parallels. These parallels show how the motivations differentiate the Lupins and the Pats -- the Lupins being blinded by their desire to bring their loved ones back (the past) whereas the Pats are focused on their jobs (the present/future). It’s possible the Pats will help the Lupins move on from their pasts, or at least look at the bigger picture.

I suppose this all stems from an observation I made, that it seems like the Lupins are mostly backstory but we know little of them besides what has happened in their past (like... does Kairi still play basketball?? How's Umika's designing going?? I guess Touma still enjoys being a chef??) whereas we know who the Pats are but not why they are the way they are. We’re still early in the show’s run, so hopefully by the finale we’ll have equal amounts of backstory and characterization on both ends haha

Anyways, I don’t really expect any of this to come true LOL I just like to look deeply into things and play with ideas, but I think it’s at least something to think about hehe

Finished Before the Storm Episode 2, thoughts below.

Hmmm.

Hmmmmmm.

I have to applaud Deck Nine for their commitment. Their effort to make this game a valuable addition to LiS is noticed and appreciated. This could easily have turned out as shallow fan-pandering, but they’re clearly wanting the game to be something the fans of the original can connect with beyond that.

I’m just... hmm. I’m just not sure it’s quite hitting the mark yet.

When it was announced to be split into three episodes, and that Chloe would be 16 years old, I speculated that each episode would be set a year apart - leaving us with a 19-year-old Chloe, soon to be reunited with Max.

I don’t know if this would have been my preference, as I’m not too keen on when prequels lead right into the original - but I am feeling that making the episodes daily like the first game is causing some clunky, rushed stuff in the narrative. Rachel and Chloe met only a day ago and they’re already preparing to run away together. On its own this wouldn’t be too much of a problem, but when we know they’ll be stuck in Arcadia Bay for another three years - it seems oddly early to be writing in this plot point. We’ll see. The final episode could stick the landing. This is my main hangup at the moment, though.

I hope they chill with their callforwards. I’d been predicting there would be nods to ‘hella’ and Frank’s beans since they’re sort of the big memes in the fandom. The reveal of her car was a nice surprise, but the one that took it too far for me was her hat. I get they are just cute little easter eggs (the hat discovery seems to be optional) - but they get a bit on my nerves when they’re too blatant or excessive. It’s an epidemic in prequels to turn inconsequential details into these crucial tentpoles of the character’s past, erasing years of implied history in the process. The junkyard was originally just Chloe and Rachel’s hideaway (w/ added importance in the later episodes). It is now additionally where Chloe got her car, where she got her hat, where she came up with her nickname for David, and where her dad’s car-wreck was taken, making Arcadia Bay feel suddenly much smaller and emptier. I’m expecting we’ll see her get at least a strip of blue in her hair by game’s end - and I’m totally there for that. But I think I’ll be a little disheartened if they force in any more 'this is how she got this’ stuff.

The scene with Drew, Mikey and Damon left me a bit torn on whether I liked or disliked its similarities to LiS ep. 4, wherein we sneak into a dorm room, get caught, and witness someone get beaten up on the floor. I think I liked this scene better (those closeups on the tabletop figures were v good), but it’s sort of weird to set those events up in a similar fashion when there aren’t really any meaningful parallels between the characters involved.

One of the things that bugged me about the original game was the text messages being used too obviously as ‘consequence reminders’. I’m appreciating that while that is still present in BtS, it’s coming across more naturally. The texts from Steph and Drew after Mikey's injury felt like the characters had genuine reasons for writing what they did.

On the flipside - recall how I said that I liked that the Backtalk feature was optional? Well, yeah... we were forced to do one in this episode. That wasn’t... fun.

Also I flubbed it, haha.

I really enjoyed the Tempest segment even though I felt the game railroaded me into it somewhat. They seem a little confused whether they want to focus on the fire or the storm as their primary metaphor. Very crafty of them to pick a scene that mentions both and also has underlying symbolism for our main characters. And heck was I surprised to see Sean Prescott - makes me appreciate that Deck Nine isn’t trying to tiptoe around continuity.

I think I’m happy with how they’re portraying Rachel so far. The original game was always emphasising how much she meant to Chloe, but kept fairly vague on how much Rachel reciprocated. And so far she feels appropriately intoxicating but potentially damaging, without villainising her beyond repair. It helps a lot that her story thread is kept in constant attention. I found this was fumbled a little with Chloe in the first game - in LiS ep.2 her abrasiveness took too much of a spotlight away from her vulnerability and it was harder to sympathise with her. This happens occasionally with Rachel, but not to the same degree thusfar. And the implications in the latest dream of William make it seem to be intentional to some extent.

But, that doesn’t make it any easier to make decisions...

... I’m doing my best to get into this younger Chloe’s head, and it hurts to go down roads that I know are damaging to her later on. In the previous episode, I was worried my choices might have locked out of a romance with Rachel. By the time I got to the opportunity in this one, I wasn’t even sure if I wanted it! Yet I still chose the kiss, because it felt in line with where poor-young-awkward Chloe is at.

I think I miss Max.

Also, we got snow. Snow...! (I mean, I suspect it could have been ash from the fire but nonetheless I appreciate its vague nature and what it’s alluding to.) I don’t know how far they’re planning to elaborate on this but by gum am I happy for it. It’s really cathartic to have these lore hints after the weight put on Max and her powers in the first game. It hasn’t confirmed or debunked anything, but just connecting Rachel more to the storm is what I need.

I think I’ve been subconsciously avoiding speculation since it got me in hot water in the original game, but it’s been kind of nice not guessing the plot direction. The mom reveal took me by surprise. Kind of a tropey moment, but interested to see how it plays out anyway.

The previous episode to a degree managed to capture both the grander narrative aspects and the calmer, quiet moments of the original game. This episode hasn’t fully delivered on that and feels a bit lacking by comparison, while not out-and-out bad in its own right. Also, kinda waiting for them to do something with Eliot - so far he’s pretty much been a BtS-equivalent of Warren, which is equal parts odd and amusing to me.

Fave moments from this episode:

-Graffiti in the bathroom. Fun opening.

-Trying to climb onto the boat in the junkyard. For some reason this made me really laugh.

-Listening to the argument outside Drew’s room. Good tension.

-BS-ing through the Tempest performance. Fun to play, interesting to witness. Dorky Chloe is best Chloe.

-The kiss. I felt guilty about choosing it, but it was a pretty good kiss.

It was oddly tricky to get my thoughts down for this one. Probably from having only played through it once - the details are a bit harder to grasp. We’ll see how it goes with episode 3 once it’s out. Golly, this is the first time I’ve ever had to wait for the release of an episode, haha.

I like the Drabble you wrote about V&W but don’t be afraid to write what you want because of the people in tumblr :) and I really want to see more of this, I really want to see William telling why he felt in love with noora, that he can’t live without her anymore, she is the love of his live and this stuff. I love to see William declaring his love for noora and this would help vilde to understand how he feel about noora and why their relationship are so important to them and how much they loved

Thanks! I try to not censor myself, but I just… don’t wanna deal with drama, haha. Anyway, I wrote a sequel! It might not be what you expected but I hope you’ll like it nonetheless.

Noora invited her friends to brunch a few weeks ago. Now that they all their lives, spending time together needs organization. The problem is that now, she doesn’t feel like socializing. She loves her friends, but she doesn’t want to see them. She feels down, a bit unwell too and she’s fucking tired. All she wants is crawling back to bed and sleep a bit more. She has been down for a few weeks, now. Winter is coming and she can guess that her current state is somehow related to that. It’s not really serious, she will eventually get back in shape. William told her he would handle everything and even suggested postponing the brunch, but she said no. Maybe being surrounded by the idiots that are their friends will do her good.

True to his words, William handles everything and lets Noora just enjoy talking to her friends.

However, Noora’s current mood doesn’t go unnoticed by her friends. She doesn’t smile as much as she normally does, she doesn’t talk that much either. Eva and Sana convince Noora to go for a walk, but Chris and Vilde are not really keen on that. There’s a lot of wind today and they don’t feel like walking in the cold weather so they tell the others to go without them. They even accept to do the dishes for everyone. Together in the kitchen, they start gossiping about Chris’ co-workers. The two girls are still best friends forever and Vilde spends an excessive amount of time at Chris work. Quickly, Vilde changes the subject and tells Chris she worries about Noora. Chris tells her that she honestly doesn’t think Noora is in a bad state but is just being moody. « I don’t know » Vilde says. « What if something happened with William again? »« what do you want to have happened? He seems fine » Chris tells her, hands deep down in the sink. « You never know! She reminds me of Noora back in Nissen when she was hiding what happened »« That doesn’t mean that it has something to do with her boyfriend, Vilde »« Well, honestly, he has fucked up in the past, he could have fucked up again. I’m just saying, we have to be careful because we don’t know him that well… Remember when we did nothing to help her even though we had noticed that she was not being herself? Maybe he’s more like his brother than we thought, you know »« that’s not logi—» Chris tries to say but she freezes midway when she notices William, who apparently didn’t go with the group. Shit. « Not everything going on in Noora’s life is related to me, Vilde » his voice is cold. Feeling guilty, she tries to defend herself. « that’s not what I meant »« Not everything bad in Noora’s life is related to me » he specifies. Vilde opens her mouth but she doesn’t know what to say. « Look, Vilde, I understand that you are wary of me. I do. But let’s be clear, here. I may have fucked up in the past, but I am not my brother. » Vilde nods. Chris does too. « Yeah, yeah of, of course. I… I mean I’m just worried about Noora, I guess. » she says in a whisper.« Yeah, and you don’t think I am. You think that I am not worried actually and that I am the reason why she isn’t at her best right now, I got it. » he sets down the plate in the sink, as it is why he came to the kitchen in the first place. Vilde and Chris are still frozen right there. Neither of them dares to move. William has every right to be upset, Vilde would never have said that if she knew he was still there. He’s kinda right. Every time Noora feels a bit down, her mind immediately blames him. In the ten years, they’ve been together, Noora has told her friends about a few arguments here and there, a few rough patches too but overall, there hasn’t been any dramatic situations like they had faced when they first met.Vilde knows that William makes Noora happy. She is aware of that. But…« I’m sorry William, okay? It’s just a bit worrying to see her like that and I was trying to think about potential explanations, of course, there are others. » « Do you think that I don’t know that you’re here, just waiting for the day I will fuck up? » William snaps, not looking at her. He busies himself with the bins. « You know what? Yeah, I fucked up with Noora. I admit that. You know what else? Noora left me one time, too. I don’t even know what makes you think she wouldn’t do it again if necessary. » Chris clears her throat. « We’re not like, waiting for you to fuck up, William» she says, with a low voice. « Nobody thinks you will fuck up » she nudges Vilde, who doesn’t move so she continues. « You have to understand, though. You are a really private couple. You don’t share a lot with us. We’ve been friends with you for ten years, Will, and I don’t feel like I know you well. We have great times together, you’re witty and kind but we’ve never had a proper conversation together. We don’t know what’s on your mind.»He takes a huge breath, leans on the counter, facing them both. « What do you want me to say then? That Noora is the love of my life? She is. She is the love of my fucking life, she’s my family, she’s everything. She has been everything since the first time I saw her. It was a nightmare to live without her, and I don’t want to have to go through that ever again. I can’t live without her. It’s hard to see her struggling with life, trust me. But I can’t shield her from everything. I’m her boyfriend, I just have to stick with her. That’s always what I try to do. I do my best. I don’t care if you think that it’s not enough. » he tells them. Chris nods. Vilde looks down at her feet. It’s off-putting how he doesn’t even seem angry. His behavior reminds her the little fight they had ten years ago. « There is no doubt in my mind that you love her, William » Chris smiles. She nudges her friend another time, desperately trying to get her to react. She is the one who fucked up, after all. « and there is no doubt that you’re not like your brother. » Chris gives him a tiny apologetic smile. William smiles back at her and then turns to Vilde. « You know Vilde, one time you asked me why I fell in love with Noora and I didn’t answer because I was afraid it would hurt you. » his voice is less cold than before but Vilde can’t meet his eyes. She feels 17 again.« I fell in love with Noora because she stood up for you. » She raises her head and looks at him. « Because she stood up for me? » she repeats, in an undertone.« Yeah. I fell in love because she’s loyal, clever, witty, because she stands up for herself and her values, she’s as beautiful inside as she is outside. She knows how to say no, she doesn’t care about everyone else’s opinion and just does her thing. I fell head over heels for her right when she stepped up to defend you because it’s… She could have let it go. The other girls did, but she knew she had to shut me up to preserve your dear reputation at school. That’s the moment I fell for her, when she proved her loyalty to you. She knew it would distract people from talking behind your back. That’s loyalty. » he says, with a flat voice. William grabs his cigarettes and leaves. A few seconds later, they hear the door being shut. Chris looks at Vilde. « What the fuck, Vilde. » she shouts. « What the flying fuck »« I didn’t know he was still there, okay? » Vilde tries to defend herself. « Why did you talk about Nikolai… Since when do we mention him? » Chris adds, a bit annoyed. « Christ, Vilde. You know it’s a sensitive subject for him. You could have said something, no? »« I was frozen right here » Vilde shrugs. « And like, you know it’s an understandable concern no? It runs in his genes, » she whispers.« Girl, I love you, right? But, please! Just shut up, please. » « You know, at least, I know why he fell in love with her ». She smiles. As odd as it seems, what he just told her feels like a relief. She had accepted Noora’s relationship with William early on but she had never understood why William didn’t choose her. She made peace with it without understanding. She doesn’t hate him because he makes her friend happy, and he isn’t the fuckboy of the Riot Club anymore and she could see that. However, William was right: she is wary of him. She expects him to fuck up sooner or later. Now she knows why Noora won his heart. It hurts a bit, but… at least she knows. He fell for her for everything Vilde is not.

When the other come back from their walk, Noora comes to the kitchen, smiling.« William is not with you? » she asks. Chris and Vilde’s faces apparently answer her question. « What happened? Where is he? » she adds.« Hmmm… He heard Vilde talking about…. you. And him » Chris answer, giving Noora a little smile.« And? What? » Noora asks further.« She was telling me how she was worried about you and she was speculating that maybe it was related to him and… »« What? Why? What did you say Vilde? » Noora snaps. She seems angry and worried at the same time. Vilde bites her lips. Chris nudges her again and shrugs to let Vilde know she won’t tell Noora in her place. « I was just worried about you, okay? I didn’t know he was still here. I told Chris that maybe he was more like his brother than we thought but it wa— » Vilde explains.« What the fuck, Vilde! Why would you say that? » Noora looks at her, dumbfounded. « God. Where is he? » Noora says, looking at the table, she spots his iPhone. « Shit. He left his phone here. » She shakes her head and sighs. She leaves the kitchen, followed by the girls.« He took his cigarettes and left but he didn’t say where he was going » Chris says quietly. Noora slips into her coat again.« You know where he is? » Vilde asks, in a whisper. « Of course I know where my boyfriend of ten years is, Vilde! » She says as she stands up. « Shit. » she takes his coat and leaves the flat.

He’s smoking on the rooftop. She sits down next to him, and puts his coat on his shoulder. «The weather is chilly, I don’t want you to get a cold » she says. She puts her head on his shoulder « I think I kind of lost it… » William says. « She deserved it, I guess. You can’t always walk on eggshell around her, W. She crossed a line, you defended yourself. » He smiles. « I love you, Noora » « I love you too. » she whispers. She turns his face with her fingers so that they’re facing each other. « So much. »

« We probably should go back, we left our friends alone in our apartment,» William says, putting an arm around her waist.« Nah, they don’t need us, we can stay here for a moment. » she replies, snuggling closer to him. « just the two of us ».

Summer Feels, A #romanceclass Anthology

A few things I want you to know before you proceed with my review: For starters, I’m one of the twenty-three authors featured in this book. So yes, you might call bias, but this is my book and my blog so I get to do whatever hell I want to do here. That’s also why this is only Part 1 of the #SummerFeels content I’m releasing. The review today is my reader-side talking, come back tomorrow for the writer-side view. :P

So anyway, here’s my shot at the Summer Feels Anthology Blog Tour!

I will not deny that twenty-three short stories is a lot to process, (I had to take breaks in between, and by breaks I mean reading other books between the stories to even out my feels) that’s why it took a whole month before I finished the entire thing! Haha!

But it was fun discovering/re-discovering different authors’ writing styles, voices and themes this close to each other. I learned a lot from authors who are already my favorites, and those I was only reading for the first time. The gradual (but necessary) rise in heat level was also a good call on editor Kate Sebastian. It made the book cleaner in terms of “flow” and it ensured all authors get equal spotlight whether they’re new or are already established in the literary scene.

I initially didn’t want to review the stories one by one but reading other blogs who said nice things to each and every story was fun and enlightening so I’m gonna do the same here, even if it’s just one liners of what I loved about it.

1. All About That Bass by Fay Sebastian

It was perfect to start the anthology with this sweet and fluffy story. I loved the Glee references and how everything led to #LiRika

2. Alter Christus by Catherine Lo

Certified crowd favourite and I totally agree. While it is true that this stood out because of the heart-wrenching theme, I think I love how Catherine’s narrative flowed artistically smooth and the characters were well-rounded enough to carry such heavy-weight romance.

3. Fall for Me by Miel Salva

Another cute story filled with Filipino food and feels! I can’t wait for the full Yasmin x Igo book to come out!

4. The Game of Twenty Questions by Elizabeth Galit

The pacing of the scenes leading up to the grand reveal of feelings is swoon-worthy! The second chance trope is difficult to navigate but this one nailed it.

5. The Summer You Said Hello by Ami Granada

The banter with this one is solid af. I love how the characters talked and ‘acted’ and I especially love the humor and sarcasm in each of them. And then there was the feels! *Kiligs*

7. Beachin’ Summer by Arlene Manocot

#romanceclass shout out! Haha! I love that in this one, the guy is the romance junkie and the girl gets him. In Pagudpud, nonetheless!

8. Buddy System by Yeyet Soriano

The ‘plays’ Carlo and Kit did to finally, finally admit their feelings to each other is A+. And ugh, don’t even get me started on that Javi x random IT guy fanservice scene! I will now stock easy to melt hard candies in my bag for impromptu kissing games! *yes, this is what I’m taking from this story. LOL

9. Busy Out of The Friendzone by Charlie Dio

Gillian, gurl! *snaps fingers in the air!* I love her witty clapbacks and the way Aidan put a “love stamp” on her to get their messages across. XD I enjoyed this so much!

10. Flying With You by Rachelle Belaro

Incredibly sweet and the parts about travelling were great! And OMG, that cake!

11. Guide for A Day by H. Bentham

THIS IS THE BEST STORY IN ALL OF THE UNIVERSE!! Lol. Not really. Even I can’t convince myself with this. Haha. But everyone loves their first born. ;)

12. Ready to Run by Kit Salazar

This take on the friends with benefits trope is awesomely done! I love the powerplay between the athlete and the homebody. Argh. I mentioned that and a recollection of what Chris and Lauren did with their ‘homebodies’ flashed before my eyes!

13. Secondhand Wanderlust by Erleen Alvarez

The twist in this one is unprecedented, but I love it. There is sadness, but also happiness, courage and hope.

14. The Search for The Kissing Monster by Ella Banta

This is incredibly sweet and fluffy and a creative take on the ‘what did I do last night’ trope. I absolutely adore Vincent and his friends and their pact to always spend a bit of summer together. Ella Banta’s HeistClub background might’ve influenced the light mystery in this but the romance is apparent and is very well executed overall.

15. Anything Can Happen by Marian Tee

This is where I started to find considerable heat! And omg, ALEXIO, if anyone introduces himself with this name, gurl, I’m telling you, anything can happen!!

*Disclaimer, he has to have this Alexio’s good looks and abs, ofc. LOL

16. Four Basic Principles by Bianca Mori

I love the efficient use of alternating POV’s in such a short piece! That in itself is impressive, but wait ‘til the steamy kilig (along with the glorious bickering!) takes you by surprise!

17. Love After Summer by Irene Jurado

I love the names of the characters, as well as the CAKE! LOL. Ooh, and wedding hook-up fizzles and sizzles until the romance is palpable. It’s a lovely read.

18. Lucky in Paradise by Farrah F. Polestico

I didn’t think I’d enjoy this as much as I did but it was amazing! The non-promise and pining and the eventual second chance drama made me feel things from a part of my heart I didn’t know I still had access to! Haha!

19. The Swimming Instructor by Eris Peñaluna

I thought this started YA-ish so I wondered why this was put farther up the steam level, and then we’re talking about hiding swimmer’s tents, electric touches and voila! We’re in sexy pool palooza! I need moarr of Jandro x Ariel!

20. Wedding Night Stand by Mina V. Esguerra

I knew this story was hot from the onset, but oh my god, when it did turn super hot, I was still caught unawares and so happy for Andrea! I haven’t read What You Wanted yet (which I’m now planning to correct in the following couple of days!) but familiar characters make this even more endearing!

21. An Overdue Adventure by Kate Sebastian

I’ve been around Cebu countless times but I haven’t gone on an adventure similar to Hilary’s. I should probably do that before I turn thirty and I MUST stock up on Aloe Gel because that’s how you get sun gods to give you what you want! Hehe. I also adore the Bisaya representation of this one! I miss the Queen City so much now!

22. Buttered Sunset by Halina Cabrera

I can’t decide what I love most about this. Is it the illustrious scenic descriptions of the food and places? The fact that there was a sort of courtship (four/five meriendas is the modern day ligawan, imho)? Or that Sol is a woman of power who knows precisely how and when to use said power? All of the above, probably.

23. Then Derrick Was Back by Georgette S. Gonzales

I was angry at Derrick because he was clearly just playing with Nadia’s heart the first time…and then he wasn’t! Argh! Georgette’s superb writing got me so affected I was ready to vent tweet about German boys and why we need to avoid them, but good thing I waited ‘til I finished the story. Hihi. Let’s not avoid them, okay? :P

So that’s that. Haha.

The thing about anthologies by different authors is that not all will be suitable to my reading tastes. But I guess with this one, it’s okay. Some stories seemed to have been paced too slow for me, but when I managed to push through with it, I found that the ‘slowness’ was necessary groundwork for the kilig fireworks to explode by the end. And in the others I found things I wish my story had, or things I knew could be developed more, etc., etc.

I also got to read more straight steam than I can usually take (*this is prude of me to say considering I devour M/M smut like crazy) but I appreciate how hot/loving/raw the scenes were depending on the author and her target audience. And yeah, sex scenes of this kind are far better than smut in comparison, straight or queer.

The Summer Feels stories are short enough to get to the bite-sized HEAs and still let you enjoy your summer activities. If anyone asks me what I did this summer, well, I went touring up from Pagudpud and down to Gen San twenty-three times over!

6 of 5 Stars. I mean, 5 stars are enough for the anthology on its own. +1 Star for my story because I love my work and I deserve it.

long time no text post, but oh my goodness i just wanted to gather my thoughts on lupinranger vs patranger because it’s reignited my love for super sentai www

if you guys follow me on twitter, then you’ll probably have seen most of this lol but i wanted to put everything into a semi-coherent post so without further ado i’ll be throwing my ramblings under the read more haha

i guess i’ll just preface this with saying that this is gonna be a mix of analyzing, headcanons, speculation, and me going “AAAAAAAAA” and will be pretty long ehe

haha anyways, i was verrryyy cautiously optimistic about this show -- still am, since it’s still in the first cour, but i’ve been very pleased with what we’ve been getting so far -- but i??? just don’t even know where to begin

the very concept of two opposing sentai teams is such a novel idea in the first place and so far the dynamic has been really fun to watch! i love both teams, though i have to admit i am just a biiit more into the pats haha

oh jeez, first off all, i love how well the teams parallel each other?? i’m sure kairi // keiichiro, touma // sakuya, and umika // tsukasa are noticeable so i won’t really get into it, but there’s also another way the teams act as parallels

okay so when the teams line up, the pats are tsukasa, keiichiro, and sakya; when the lupins line up, they’re touma, kairi, and umika. in this way, you can see another set of foils!!

kairi // keiichiro stay the same since they’re in the middle, but now we also have touma // tsukasa and sakuya // umika. touma and tsukasa are both the eldest of their teams and the most mature; touma is also described as “cold” and tsukasa is a “cool beauty” haha. sakuya and umika are both the youngest of their teams and also the most naive and least experienced

(also fun fact the pats are lined up shortest to tallest; the lupins tallest to shortest -- they literally mirror each other!)

and can i talk about how the team dynamics are kinda parallel each other?? because wow!! keiichiro and tsukasa know each other pretty well -- i’m not sure how close they would consider themselves, but they have a history since they spent time together in the police academy. personally, i see them as having a sort of supportive sibling kind of relationship and ground each other. then we have sakuya, who we can consider the outsider of the dynamic since he’s the youngest and least experienced

meanwhile with the lupins, kairi and umika are closer in age than with touma, which probably makes interactions with each other easier. i sorta see them as having one of those teasing, bantering sibling-like relationships (to contrast keiichiro and tsukasa’s haha). and then there’s touma, who’s a bit of an outsider in this dynamic since he’s the eldest and doesn’t necessarily have the same mentality as them

and goodness...!! i think the possible dynamics and interactions are so interesting!!

*wheezes* i’ve been trying to refrain from jumping onto ships this early, but... i’m like completely down for kairi/keiichiro --

shipping aside, i’m sure their dynamic will be explored throughout the show since they’re both the reds. i can totally see something like keiichiro eventually becoming an older brother figure to kairi in place of shori, but eventually keiichiro learns about who kairi really is and feels Betrayed TwT or perhaps kairi befriends keiichiro in order to gain more intel but eventually starts caring about him and is faced with a Moral Dilemma haha

nonetheless, i love how already we can see kairi and keiichiro slowly gaining respect for each other?? it’s more apparent with kairi -> keiichiro, since we see the moments where he stops and goes “huh... mr. hot blooded policeman isn’t so bad.” meanwhile, keiichiro is still learning to see that everything isn’t so black and white, what with how episode 6 ended, and i absolutely cannot wait for the day they team up together!!

umika/sakuya is also another dynamic i’m on the look out for! omg it’s like... on one hand, i can feel umika for being internal screams whenever sakuya tries to talk to her, but i’m also down if they do become a couple. at the very least, sakuya seems respectful of umika and i’m glad for that -- he just doesn’t know how to be subtle about his feelings LOL but considering how things are now, i can see their relationship being like umika slowly gaining respect for sakuya and maybe eventually returning his feelings

i think something that would be cute would be if sakuya also fell for lupin yellow and was sort of “stuck” between them hehe either way, i could see sakuya taking a hit for umika (either while she’s a civilian or lupin yellow) and that could lead to umika changing her perspective on him www

but in the meantime, i am forever amused at how kairi just gives umika this shit-eating grin every time sakuya comes in to the bistro; i bet he teases her about sakuya’s crush on her all the time haha

touma and tsukasa is a ship i’d totally be down for if touma wasn’t so dedicated to aya haha but!! i think, once the teams start working together, touma and tsukasa could possibly get along. i can see them being the exasperated parents, bonding over how much shit they have to deal with from their teammates haha

though... i’m not eliminating the possibility of touma/tsukasa --

could you imagine that, once they get to know each other better, tsukasa starts reminding touma of aya?? maybe in her mannerisms and beliefs, but wow, that would be heartbreaking haha

(man, just in general, i tend to gravitate towards cross-team pairings so that probably influences how i see things lol)

man, i’d also love to see tsukasa become like an older sister to umika and kairi?? haha idk, i think it’d be cute for them to call her “tsukasa-nee” and tsukasa looking out for them ;w; and also i want touma and sakuya to have moments together, mainly because i want sakuya to act over enthusiastically around him (”touma-san!!”) and touma to be like “wtf get lost” hahaha

omgggg, i know the whole point of the show is that the teams oppose each other, but i am completely ready for the day they join together *clenches fist*

and the characters!! are just so much fun ;w; i love all of them, but right now i think my faves are tsukasa and keiichiro. tsukasa is just highkey Relatable, being the mature one with deep dark secret of liking cute things hehe but i do hope we get to see more development from her, and i love love love how intuitive she is and how she was able to get a hunch about who the lupins really are. and keiichiro, he... had me at “ONORE KAITOU” lol but episode 6 really cemented how much i love him, he’s just so passionate and dedicated to his job?? sure, he’s reckless but i respect that he’s willing to keep himself in check. and like, underneath all the hot-bloodedness, he seems like a genuinely nice guy and very loyal ;u;

umika is also making her way up my faves, especially with episode 7?? her backstory is so sad, i wish i could hug her ;u; and to me... she seems to exhibit symptoms of PTSD, seeing how she froze up after seeing kairi get eaten by the gangler and it reminding her of shiho ;o; i’m really proud of her though, for being able to get through her hardships and come up with a plan all on her own! hhh, i’m really looking forward to seeing everyone develop really!!

and aaaaaa omg, the cast themselves is perfect?? if you follow me on twitter, you probably see me gushing about them all the time haha but they seem to get along so well and have a lot of fun with each other -- there’s that chemistry among them and it really shows on screen! ;w;

i’d also like to talk about the OST, like... i’m forever sad that there’s no ED, but the OP, derivatives of it, and the BGM is amazing. i remember listening to the previews of “chase you up” and “spin the dial” and thought that, though they sounded nice, there was something lacking. then i heard the complete OP and my jaw literally dropped at hearing the two songs combined to create the OP -- it felt complete, like both teams complete each other ashdfsd

speaking of which, i think i prefer “chase you up” to “spin the dial” but when it comes to the BGM, i prefer the lupins’ theme hehe. something i found really neat in the lupins’ theme is that there’s this section that sounds like the “HA-SHI-RE~ HA-SHI-RE~” part from the OP and... idk if it really means much, i just love it when i can hear familiar motifs haha

hhh thanks if you read all this haha sentai has always been my fave toku series but i felt like recent years have been lackluster since go-busters?? of course, i enjoyed some of the past few years, like toq and zyuoh, but i didn’t feel that same passion i did when i first got into sentai. i was worried that maybe i was “getting too old” or maybe just falling out of love, but!! i’m so happy with lupinpat so far and i’m excited to be excited about sentai again ;w;
