Sex-related words I have learned in ASL class because someone signed something innocuous incorrectly:

- Horny (similar to hungry)

- Have sex (similar to meet)

- Condom (similar to month)

- Vagina (similar to dish)

- Penis (similar to pink/an incorrect name sign)

- Sex (similar to recently)

If I had a nickel for every time this happened, I’d have 6 nickels. Which isn’t a lot but dang 6 was more than I was expecting.

#this happens a lot with non-sex words as well it’s just that sign language has a lotta words in it with similar hand shapes bc classifiers #and it’s easy to get mixed up when you’re first learning ASL bc you’re not used to the level of specificity #it’s especially fun in class bc my teachers don’t use voice. it’s all contextual. #so I have seem a grown adult try to explain to a gaggle of college students in a hallway #why they REALLY shouldn’t sign hungry twice in a row #it’s a lot of making kissy faces followed by an emphatic DIFFERENT THING DONT DO THAT

tbh i really want to start a small writing group on discord. Like, idk, it feels like having a designated Goal and a deadline to hit with a few other people to keep eachother motivated and be able to just chat with about what everyones story is and just being a lil support group, might be massively helpful in getting shit done.
