Something that I find really interesting narratively about chapter 7 is that Malleus and Silver are foils to their parents.
Meleanor hated humans from the bottom of her heart. In part 5, she punished Silver, Sebek and MC for just looking at her by forcing them to kneel to the point they couldn’t breathe, she wishes for Malleus to be feared by all humans- not loved by all, loved by only fae and feared by only humans.
She never listened to anybody, not even Lilia who did everything he could to save and protect her.
Malleus now has formed a friendship with MC all on his own, he cared for Silver since he was a baby. He listens to Lilia’s advice and cares about what he thinks, and is always trying to connect with people better
The Knight of Dawn knew what he was doing to Meleanor and Briar Valley was wrong, he had enough sense to warn Lilia about what the Silver Owls were planning to do with the egg and give him room to escape, but he did not stand up for what was right.
The Knight couldn’t bear to go against the family that took him in, so he committed something awful simply because he was told to.
Silver, despite his fierce loyalty to Lilia and Malleus, stands up for what he knows is right even if it means going against their wishes.
Silver would never harm Malleus ever and actively works towards unity between fae and humans.
Their parents were enemies, but their sons are brothers. I love that.

By the time cars were invented, Jonah Magnus was already well into the body hopping game, which raises the question: has he ever actually learn to drive? Did this man sit through driver’s ed? Or has he just been getting out of legal repercussions for his shit driving by telling the cops everything he knows about their deepest darkest secrets every time he gets pulled over?

rose and kanaya’s narratives are both sooo trans in nature btw. they both start off like “Fuck Traditional Motherhood Fuck Traditinal Womanhood Fuck all of that shit and Fuck you for thinking of me as it I’m going to smash it to itty bitty pieces and Stomp on it and Run away forever so Nobody ever sees me as that again [500 Years Later] Oh maybe I am interested in the idea of motherhood actually… But NOT in the way you were Forcing it on me”
and then roxy is such an important capstone for both of their arcs because as a trans girl and ectobiologist she’s always had to define motherhood her own way and learned to embrace it and and 😭

thinking of the rumination and dwelling of “it comforts me much more to lay in the foundations of decay” harshly interrupted and cut off by “get up coward”. Like !!!!!!! Stop wallowing !!! How is anything supposed to get better if you’re resigned to let yourself rot away in nothing but misery ?! Get the fuck up !!!! Aaaahhhhhh

thinking about how gorgug + kristen perceive both their own deaths & each other’s, and how that impacts their relationship. bc i feel like freshman year kristen was too caught up in her newfound knowledge of the nature of her own god to truly clock & process gorgug’s internal revulsion of where he went after he died, & freshman year gorgug wasn’t familiar enough with the complexities of other people to truly lock onto the sorrow buried within the chaos of kristen’s upward/downward/sideways spiral until she was seemingly on the other side of it. & i wonder if they’ve ever really talked about it (unlikely), or if they’ve just cracked very few jokes that didn’t land and decided to never quite do the work & dig through that part of their relationship. but there’s a kinship there; kristen specifically singles out gorgug to tell him she died again, and gorgug apologizes that he wasn’t there with her this time. gorgug takes one of the finger bones off kristen’s newly/long-time decayed corpse to have an anchor to something in the world. despite the fact that they were in different places after death, having been together during it means everything.
anyways what i’m trying to say is i think they should talk about it.

I think you perpetually online people need to understand that “queerbaiting” does not mean a character is heavily implied to be a queer person, with a live in partner, but we the audience are not explicitly shown a coming out scene. Queerbaiting is when a character is heavily implied to be a queer person and then it’s explicit confirmed they’re Absolutely Not Queer(tm) and are in a Straight Relationship(tm) and that live in partner they have romantic chemistry with is just their Friendly Roommate(tm). Not everything needs to be shown to you explicitly for you to understand the implications. Having to use critical thinking skills to draw connections between clearly defined and obviously presented dots isn’t queer baiting. For the love of god use your brain cells before they all die and leave your head about as full as an empty peanut shell.

“𝑺𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒏𝒐 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔."
Tried to do some perspective shit, idk if it worked. Like it always starts out looking fine but then the further along in the process I go it just vanishes, y’know what I mean? Anyways yeah I’m thinking about DE with her hair down, based off that one concept art from the crk art book where she’s got her bad 4 outfit on. I’d love to know how y’all think it would look in its natural state though, like I’m genuinely curious

kinda frustrating how so much aspec content (esp stuff published in like mainstream outlets) is literally just made for allos. like it’s always some article that’s just going over aspec 101 terminology and explaining various concepts and words aimed at a clearly allo audience.
i’m not saying those aren’t important because part of the issue aspecs face is how invisibilised we are and yes! it’s super important to raise awareness and let people know we exist! but it’s also kind of frustrating how it feels like 99% of not only our time but also all wider coverage about us is spent explaining our identities and giving ted talks to allos instead of like . discussing aspec issues and identity with any sort of depth or nuance.
Angela Chen (who wrote a book on asexuality) talked about thinking about aro/ace-ness not just as an identity but also a viewpoint or a ‘lens’ to examine issues through which i thought was interesting! like how does aro/ace identity intersect with our ideas of feminism, or of race? how does aromanticism inform our critique of the nuclear family and the institution of marriage?? how does asexuality play into our view of sexual politics? how does lovelessness deconstruct our ideas of ‘humanity’? there is so much to get into and so much ground that has never been covered but we are stuck!! on giving definitions!!
idk i don’t really have a solution here! because i know that on the one hand we need these kinds of articles that give streams of ‘aspec 101’ definitions because any visibility helps, but also i am so tired of having to dumb everything down instead of having actual discussions about aspec identities and what they can tell us. like hopefully we’ll get to a point eventually where we don’t have to do this but i’m still just. kinda tired :/
