Thinking once again about this early paragraph from the best fic about Durge, Gortash, and Orin, @popiellart’s The hunt, the bargain, the council, the feast, the slaughter.
I think about it all the time.
Something slams and pounds heavily against the door he rests his back against, and Gortash neatly reschedules his devout meditations for a more opportune time. On the other side of the door, something wails in grief, then screams like a god torn in half. Gortash checks his pocket watch - gilded in fool's gold, one of the first things he's ever made, once so very useless - no clocks run properly in the Hells, and the sands of hourglasses swirl feebly in their glass containments like impotent tempests. What use is there in measuring the hours that pass where torment is eternal? Hells are an orderly place, though, and they do run on time - precisely speaking, on the presiding devil's time, and no one else's.
Making a watch for a place outside of time! Keeping time now for a moment that seems to exist outside of reality! Seven minutes…
If you are into these characters this is the definitive fic. It just is. It’s a blackened roast onion of layers and layers of deliciousness. Its language is exquisite and unctuous, its depictions of all of the characters are fantastic (a truly terrifying and godlike Durge, a desperate and unwieldy Orin, and to me the ultimate expression of Gortash’s control and lack of it)
If you’ve not read it, read it. If you have, reread it, you’ll find more. Content warnings certainly apply.

Hello beloved mutuals and those of you I’m not sure are real people but keep around just in case, I need advice. Should I get Twitter for the art? Would it be worth it?
I am literally only even considering it for the art. Over the years I’ve found some cool artists there that aren’t on here and sadly I can’t really look at them anymore. If I could keep looking at Twitter without an account I would but much like tumblr implemented recently, Twitter now stops you after you scroll more than a few centimeters unless you sign up/sign in.
I don’t know Jack shit about social media, Tumblr is literally my first and currently only platform (unless you count Pinterest but I don’t even really use that anymore.) I’ve heard from multiple family members and friends that it’s a mess but I also know plenty of people who say it’s worth it.
So now I ask you all cause I’m an indecisive coward: is it?

Song Review: James Taylor - “That’s Why I’m Here” (Live, March 27, 1986)
That’s Why I’m Here was the album on which James Taylor began his downward songwriting slide.
Not that good tracks didn’t still pop up - they did. But the consistently high quality of previous LPs was gone.
Taylor and his band on March 27, 1986, played the title track from that 1985 album for the Jan. 2, 1987, broadcast of the West German “Ohne Filter” program. It references John Belushi’s death and namechecks “Fire and Rain” and “Summer’s Here” and while decent enough, doesn’t come anywhere near those numbers.
This version is almost exactly like the studio iteration, slick and rehashing past themes. Sound Bites remembers feeling a bit wistful when he first heard this song and realized Taylor was in a new phase. That feeling returned watching this just-sprung-from-the-vault video.
Grade card: Song Review: James Taylor - “That’s Why I’m Here” (Live - 3/27/86) - C+
2/7/24

The manga industry, especially JUMP, needs to hurry up and do away with weekly scheduling for mangaka. There needs to better regulations put into place for their health and safety because this is pitiful. Two weeks - monthly updates should’ve already been the standard for the manga industry at this point. These money grabbers will only continue to put the lives of these artists at stake for the sake of capitalism unless some serious changes are implemented.
