I hope the person who left me a comment on "Green Flames, White Fur" gets all the affection they deserve for the rest of their days. Not just because of the nice comment! Every since I started that story I couldn't find the damn word to describe the chapters as they were just separate short stories and the word was stuck on the tip of my tongue. I just stuck to "short stories" or "shorts" but thanks to the reader, I got the word!

I am so out of touch I have no idea there was Tumblr drama going on! I know you like to stay away from it but could you explain what happened/what is going on?

the blog is b*sluthq (with an i) - please don't send them anons or anything. the high-level story is that they started off as a gaylor skeptic/debunker, became a general celeb gossip ask blog, and the content of their blog has just become too controversial for most people (myself included). it was one of those situations where i personally overlooked some stuff as a difference of opinion (or simply understanding it was a schtick) but it got the point where like 99% of the content just... wasn't for me. to put it lightly.

and i don't want or find it necessary to talk shit about a specific person. so that's all i'm gonna say.

1. lauren absolutely has the right idea, jam is the way to go. also honey! but ahh!! THE FRUIT! berries and peaches from the farmers' market?? is there anything better than that? (no there is not!!!)

2. i've said my piece on the bbq vs. cookout divide, so i'll spare you 😅 i think the misconception that bothers me the most is this idea that south is monolith. that it is nothing but a bastion of bigotry and that there's nothing progressive about it. but!! there have always been alternative histories there. there have always!!! been collaboration and activism and grassroots movements. and it's so unfair to write those stories off. it's a diverse place. one in three lgbt americans live in the south, more than any other region!! and so many of them are people of color! it's a young place, and there's so much good work coming out of the universities there, too. but bc gerrymandering is so pervasive, all we have it anti-vax, anti-choice idiots running their mouths and making us all look terrible. whew.

3. i like the idea of board games. my college friends always loved having game nights, and i always went bc what's not to like? games! snacks! drinks! fun! but i always regret games 🥲 i either get frustrated bc i don't understand a game, or i'm not good at it. or i get stressed!! bc i don't perform well under pressure, especially if it's a team situation. now... puzzles. sit me down in front of a puzzle, and i'm happy.

elo is interesting because even though they always were called an orchestra and always wanted to have strings, the first like five years of their career they just had solid guitar, and then they only had a consistent string group for about 3-4 years, until the strings were fired and elo turned disco for another 7 years. they spent more time without strings than with them, and yet they remained an orchestra for the whole 16 years

That night Zuko was sitting at the desk in their chamber and reading the last reports from the navy. The further he read, the bigger was growing a frown on his face. Mai was lying on their large bed lazily, looking through some notes.

“Did you know that you have at least ten concubines?” he heard Mai’s bored voice from behind. “Most of them have blue eyes and gold skin, cause you prefer exotic. Your favorites are from the Water Tribes.”

“What?” he choked, turning his head to the wife.

“But you keep them here only for procreation, because the truth is you're secretly in love with Blue Spirit. Though they broke your heart at sixteen when they were rescuing the Avatar and said that you two can't be together.”

"Mai?" Now he definitely was confused.

“I married you only because I’m plotting to kill you and take your throne,” Mai continued impassively, not looking at him. “Then I’ll reunite with my ex, and we’ll proclaim the era of non-benders.” 

Zuko’s eyes went wide. 

“Oh, and we’ll never have a child because Moon Spirit had cursed you instead of Zhao in the North Pole,” Mai finished with a small yawn.

“Where did you get this ostrich-horseshit?!”

Mai shrugged. “Newspapers.”

Zuko stood, irritated. "Give me these. I find those morons and banish them all."

“Nah, that’s actually kind of funny,” Mai smirked. “Your fling with Blue Spirit is the most exciting thing I’ve read this month.”

Zuko sighed tiredly and flopped to the bed. “Okay, but if they bother you, just say.”

“Me?” Mai perked an eyebrow and reached to push a few dark locks from Zuko’s forehead. “I only worry about you, my poor, star-crossed Fire Lord,” she cooed teasingly. 

“You’re the worst,” he chuckled lightly.

“I’m the best and you know it, thank you very much.”

Zuko smiled and pulled his wife into embrace, putting a hand on her pregnant belly. “Oh, they’ll mess up when they’ll find out about it.”

“They definitely will be,” Mai agreed with a thin smile, putting her hand over his. Then she nuzzled his face. “Forget about stupid reports, let’s go sleep. I’m tired and I want you to warm me.”

Zuko grinned. “As you wish, my lady.”
