[Name] grew up on pandora, that was all she ever knew. While she was born to two scientists loyal to the Na’vi, she always felt closer to the Omatikaya clan than any of her own. Ever since she wondered out of the lab and into the forest where the Sully found her, she fast friends with the entire family.
This upbringing is something she would say she was proud of if you asked. During her upbringing, she became close to the eldest member of the Sully kids.
Neteyam.
[Name] and Neteyam did almost everything together, practicing skills like hunting, or using a bow; exploring the forest, and looking after his siblings. Some may argue they were the closest person to each other.
They were inseparable.
That is why it didn’t come as a surprise to many when the two started walking a little closer, talking to one-another a little softer, looking in each other’s eyes a little longer. The two best friends after all their lives, had fallen for each other. And everyone could see it.
Except for [Name].
Though she felt it, the tug in her chest whenever she was around Neteyam, the fast pace of her heart, the butterflies fluttering in her stomach, and the pure comfort that came from spending time with her best friend, she never thought he could feel the same.
All she could think about is how she was human and knowing about how the Na’vi culture and body, asking herself how it could ever work.
Her thoughts seem irrelevant one day, as Neteyam walked in the lab. Most of the others were out at this time, so it was just the two of them in the bright sterile rooms of the labs. Neteyam was panting lightly, a sign of his rush, [Name] noted. She watched his face with a small smile as he caught his breath. In the corner of her eye she could she his hands moving, fidgeting with something within his long, thin blue hands. This was much unlike him, Neteyam didn’t fidget often, not unless he was nervous. And he was only nervous when his siblings were in trouble.
“Neteyam?” [Name] began, grabbing hold of his hand in attempt to ground him.
“Are you alright, are your siblings alright?” [Name] continued, her words coming out increasingly frantic as her thoughts went to the possibility of his siblings in danger.
Neteyam chuckled, realizing she had interpreted his nervous energy as something more of an emergency situation.
“No, no. Everything is alright, my siblings are fine.” Neteyam spoke in almost perfect Na’vi, smiling down at her as she seem to relax.
“Alright, thats good. So then why are you here?” [Name] smiled, her eyebrows furrowing in question.
“Can’t I visit my best friend?” He teased, gazing softly into her eyes.
[Name] smiled, “Right, that’s why you rushed all the way here?”
Neteyam only laughed, heat rushing to his cheeks as he realized he’d been caught.
“And of course you can visit your best friend. You always do anyway.” [Name] rolled her eyes playfully, smiling at Neteyam once again.
Neteyam took a deep breath in, deciding for what felt like the millionth time whether or not he should go through with this. After a moment, he let out his breath and looked into [Name]’s eyes.
“[Name], I- you are my best friend-”
“As we have established.” [Name] smirked, cutting him off.
“Right! And we have been friends since I can remember…” Neteyam trailed off.
“Yes we have,” [Name] offered, sensing the hesitation in him.
“And…” Neteyam looked down at his hands, where he rolled his gift between his fingers.
“I want you to have this.” Neteyam held out his hands, palms facing up revealing what looks like an arrow head tied to a necklace string.
[Name] let out a small gasp, her eyes quickly flicking from Neteyam’s eyes to the gift in his palm. While [Name] didn’t know the full significance of this gift, she knew that this was an important part of Neteyam and their friendship. You don’t just go around giving your friends gifts of arrow head necklaces.
Beaming, [Name] gently took the necklace from Neteyam’s hands. As she admired it slowly, Neteyam took the time to admire her.
“Neteyam,” [Name] spoke breathlessly, looking up at him. “This is so nice! Thank you so much.” She continued before looking back down at the necklace in her hands.
“It’s the arrow head from my first hunt.” He admitted.
[Name]’s head shot up, two links in her head connecting, like pieces of a puzzle coming into place.
“From your first hunt… But that means.” [Name] hesitating, smiling softly to herself.
Part of her couldn’t believe it, that this was absolutely not happening. The other part of her was absolutely over the moons. She never thought this day would come.
Neteyam was worried for a moment seeing as she indicated no sign of a reaction, but then he saw the smile on her face as she looked up at him and all of his worries flew out the window.
“[Name], I think you are so wonderful, you have been there my entire life and I hope you are there for the rest of it. You are the most wonderful human beings I have ever met-”
“Slim pickings…” [Name] muttered to herself, trying to hold back the laugh at her own joke.
Neteyam rolled his eyes affectionately, “You know what I mean, but I really do hope we spend the rest of our lives together.” Neteyam smiled at her earnestly.
“Neteyam, you have no idea how much I have wanted to hear that.” [Name] quickly spoke before pulling him in a tight hug.
A hug to which Neteyam reciprocated immediately, a big smile taking over his face. Neteyam pulled her back to look into her eyes. Unspoken words passed between them as the smiled before pulling each other in for a kiss.
The kiss told all of the things they couldn’t speak themselves. Longing touches, unspoken promises, hopes and dreams for their future. Through all of it, they just hoped they would never be separated, as they almost never had before. And they prayed that Eywa would bond them for life.

How the hell do you find every accurate representative culture fashion for the avatar gang? Like it pains me the hell how people this good and hardworking can find these gorgeous cultural clothes and accessories and draw them so well and detailed like you- TELL ME YOUR SECRETS (Please)
idk about accurate. at the end it is still a fantasy world inspired by real life cultures contrasting or soothed out to fit a charakter personality and traits. listen if i spot an option to have a older fire lord zuko with his titts chest out i will go for it and nothing can stop me not even accuracy i say this as if i didn't already do it in private with seethrough material hahah
there is not much secrets behind it though, sorry its research, fact checking. often even the most random things. at least that is my method. you go to google and type in what you need and would like to know. read the wikipedia article for some general understanding on the topic but them go to the source part and check these out. or like double check these. if reading is not your thing there are lots of dedicated youtubers or ticktockers that love to share and explain parts of their culture or tradtions (clothing included. depends on what you research.) contemporary to that or after that you build up your visual library by collecting images on pinterest, or google or websites covering the topic you are researching. make your own folders or pin boards.
an amazing blog for atla real life culture sources is of course or beloved: @atlaculture blog!
https://www.tumblr.com/atlaculture who recently began to dedicate some post in flashing out more water tribe and air normad cusine, also instruments. its a delight to read through.
of course you have an easier time with some research than with other. some things are clear others a contradicting some are barley documented. it is also necessary to have an occasional reality check. like reread your sources see if there is something new. replace what you misunderstood before. don't always go for what looks pretty and aesthetically good to you. there is a reason why things looked like they did. was it the material, was it protection, was it culture.
a part looking at contemporary photography i personally preffere to look at how people liked to depict themself at that time. Statues, wall painting, illustration, old fotos from that time and compare them to current pictures to see how they used to stylize this element or to see what was essential to them. thats probably my old art-history phase flaring up again though hahah. at the end it is also how you Interpret and headcanon the atla world for yourself. before i were able to redesign jet i had to figure out how i want to draw fire nation armor. because to me jet repuporses a lot of the armor from the enemy. a shin guard will be used as an arm protection. the red shirt he wears is fire nation, a shoulder guard that fits will just be used as it is. i just assume that FN armor is better in being fire resistent than earth kingdoms ones.
but fire nation armor is a chellenge on its own again. because is it tang dynasty? is it song? but the collar protector is a typical thai armor element. how do i combine that? is there a history behind it?
speaking about armor what would be the southern water tribe one? if it is lamellar ivory armor, how and why does it look so different by season 3 at the day of the black sun? did the southern water fleet separated form their home begin to adopt EK styles. switching out kuspuk and parkas in for sleeveless wrap shirts and armor with inside plating like they have in ba sing se? because that what was aviable to them?
(appart everything the talk of armor is in general really curious because... what do you wear when you go in to fight against fire??? in the poles you can argure that it is not a concern. if you burn you roll in the snow but in the EK... hm.. they dont have fancy heat resistand clothing like fire fighters have now.... armor is ment to cushion off impact and or slicing. our standard armors conzept can work well against earth-, water- and air bending (to some degree) but fire burns what do you idealy do against that? leather helps to some degree)
while the southern water tribe is clearly circumpolar people inspired (although lacking lots of world-building which you can kind of excusing it with... the war destroyed everything but also... uh.... its a nearly 20 year old show.... ) the northern water tribe shows korean or even mongolian elements. so what do you want to focus on? i personally like to make things connect because these characters live in one world togheter and trade and exchange happens. (yes even during a 100 year war or at least there had to have been a time of influence and the lack of exchange froze(*snorts*) this culture in time) you know... migration? and transition of style and life through out history.
maybe i overthink things to much for just drawing some clothes... -srugs-

do you have any tips for writing dave or rose?
!!!! i am no expert but!
dave: rambles, asks a lot of questions without waiting for the answer. his raps are truly shit. in terms of actions, i usually think of repressed closeted gay guys who compensate w hypermasculinity + the kind of people that are overly chill bc theyre super emotionally repressed. hes clearly a smart guy but he can't help but bring in a million references in all his jokes, and he remains very casual/flippant about most things (if he got stabbed, he would quip before reacting properly). later in the comic, he becomes more rambley but this is more clearly out of anxiety/habit than to be funny. it depends on which characterization you go with (early or late comic); pesterquest kinda makes him this shy blushing guy who poorly hides behind the cool guy mask, but 2009 dave was a genuine menace/vibe terrorist. like remember him and tavros' first interaction? thats p much what i think of most when i try to write him aggressively. for his rambles, i have ADHD and i have a rambley thought pattern so i just let my thoughts wander, though you might have to force yourself to do it. sometimes theres emotional beats i want to hit so i plan it out, but usually his main dialogue can be broken down into (genuine sentiment) (pop culture reference) (train of thought rambling to hide genuine sentiment) then rinse and repeat. he has a fixation on sex and dick jokes and hes very irreverent. sometimes he can be defensive. honestly the best tip is trying to remember his main character motivations: for me, i think his is being invulnerable. he's all about being the strongest person in the room; that can translate into social capital (cool guy persona/being perceived as cool), physical prowess, or whatever u want it to be. dave is a character that constantly wants to prove to himself and others that he cannot be hurt, even though he's actually kind of a sensitive guy (a pacifist whos forced to fight). his "coolness" (which is actually just being a fucking weirdo? i dont think dirk or dave actually know what being cool means other than apathetic. i def think he was homeschooled) is a mask and a compulsion, so keep that in mind! also, i think its good to have people as contrast to him bc hes so weird/aggressively chill to emphasize the weirdness of his own actions/behavior, cuz that gets lost when hes next to the other strilondes (karkat is a good comedic striaght man). one of the biggest flaws, i think, when people write him is when they make him this shy traumatized guy who can do no wrong. he clearly is capable of hurting people (and has done so!), usually as a result of his antagonistic bluster or violence. his whole character journey is about strength and confidence in a very masculine way, and that means that people can get hurt.
rose: she's literally susan sontag. most of her writing style is very similar to 70s-80s feminist scholarship, when most essays were about freud and phallic imagery. she has mommy issues and a penchant for passive aggression. like dave w irony and coolness, she hides behind big words/intellectualism and freudian psychoanalysis. they both deeply dislike not being in power/having control, though dave's comes from being conditioned into it and rose's is a genuine compulsion from her childhood. she has trouble being vulnerable/relinquishing that control. it should be noted that her psychoanalysis, while i think she's a smart girl, is almost entirely for show bc fruedian analysis is not really regarded as helpful/viable among contemporaries. she is constantly on the defense; she interprets her mom's well-meaning actions as cruelty, and doesn't trust easily/assumes the worst out of other people. when i think of her, i mostly just think: what would a lesbian with mommy/trust issues do? and its usually pretty straight forward from there. she pretends to be calm, but is prone to a lot of impulsivity and petty anger (blowing up eridans computer, blowing up her own planet/house). ironically, she's one of the easier characters for me to write, bc her character schtick is pretty much my academic writing. if you're struggling with dialogue or tone, just read some of sontag's writing LOL. like how in detective pony dirk plagiarizes a lot of derrida, i think rose would do the same with sontag. against interpretation is a good one if you're up for the read! also shes cuttingly sarcastic and smart/sees through things easily, but that can make her a really difficult person to get along with. dont be scared to make the characters unlikeable. cuz all of the HS characters kind of are unlikeable as people, esp if you dont know them well. like, shes the type of bitch to tell you john berger style all the flaws of marvel as a piece of military propaganda when you're just trying to watch chris evans' man boobs. for her, everything is deep/more than it appears on the surface. + her alcoholism is interesting because she hates giving up control, and alcoholism is what enables her to do so. i dont think most people understand inherently that she is a darker character. people do the whole horror terror stuff fine, but i mean that she is prone to cruelty and manipulation because its how she reacts to perceived danger. shes very girl dirk in that sense. people make her hyper-competent and hyper mentally healthy, but in my opinion? dont be afraid to make her a bitch, LOL.
if you get the chance lmk how your writing goes!! ^_^

hi!! what are protocal droids? 👀 (are they star wars? theres the little guys arent there. the gold one<3 and the one that makes noises?) (<- woefull lack of knowledge about star wars lol)
YES protocol droids are from star wars! that is in fact what the gold guy (c-3po. my babygirl) is.
Tumblr media
So in star wars sapient robots are called Droids, and the different types are often referred to by their jobs; Battle droids are the silly canon fodder who say roger roger, and Artoo (R2-D2, lil blue guy in the picutre, and YES <3 he does make noises good job <3) is an Astromech droid, meaning, well, he does mechanical jobs in space. he fixes spacecrafts, sometimes from the outside while they fly, and has various gadgets and technological skills.
The yellow one, C-3PO, or threepio for friends, is the main protocol droid we see in the series, though not the only one. Luckily, he is exactly the type of mess of a person that his resume is his catchphrase: "C-3PO, human-cyborg relations. programmed in over six million forms of communication". He also described himself, in the first movie, as "[...] not much more than an interpreter, and not very good at telling stories."
So theyre linguistic AI. Machine translators in a friendly humanoid box. Threepio also sometimes interperts Artoo's mechanical beeping speech for the other characters, so we have to assume that's what Human-cyborg relations is about, even though cyborgs and droids are not the same as all- early installment weirdness is the best assumption because. the "human cyborg relations" phrase or concept has never been menaingfully brought up in star wars for my knowledge. searching it on wookiepedia mostly leads to info about a few protocol droid models and the many times threepio has said it.
But so often in the throes of hyperfixation have i found myself looking at the ceiling going ok i mean i understand but. what IS a protocol droid truly, when u look at it?
wookiepedia expands barely:
A protocol droid was a droid whose job was to aid sentients with their etiquette and relations with each other in the galaxy. They often dealt with event planning, etiquette, translation, and problem solving.
Often threepio is written as more of a butler than anything to do with linguistics. (half the time its not even proper butlering its just written as a servant by a writer who thinks they know what being a butler means but- i digress). He himself is quick to offer himself into those jobs, as well as more mechanical labour-
Tumblr media
but then again he also becomes a spymaster at some point (my so beloved poe dameron comics. great comics and great space for droid rights introspection in the new star wars era).
So they're not just translators and interpeters, not just containers of cultural and ritualistic etiquette knowledge, they're, secretary machines. they're robots designed to help humans by doing the most tedious parts of thinking-and-learning for people- being nervous about perfect manners 200% of the time to prevent and prepare u for youur faux-pas, and working out the little details and paperwork and errandrunnig so you can get your thing going.
They're tools designed to let you say what you need without hassle, which is what makes the fact that in a way, Threepio is the narrator of star wars, so fucking awesome and ogod and interesting. they shouldnt have their own thing to say, but look at him go. he'll try to convince you he doesn't but thats precisely why you need to look at him go.
No wonder he is practically the main chrarter of the first 25 minutes of the first movie- not only being a lowly robot secretary make him a good everyman, this is a machine designed to kind of get across where you are and what's happening, lol.
Just. When I started being insane tm about this language generating software ("AI", salami, whatever u wanna call a neural network doing that stuff) was not even close to as big a thing as it is today. so that has definitely changed some stuff. but thats the thing- threepio is not using likelihood based processing he is An Actual Knowledge man. he loves boring u with facts. So he actually knows things, and- he's such an old machine. Anakin built him as a child, that was from old parts. yet he keeps kind of, growing as a character with his own personality (droidds developing unique thoughts and personalities by gaining experience is called Metaprogramming in star wars fiction), he also adapts to culture. he's always a wimp but hes much more subserviant when owned by fasicist imperials than he was when working with his good friend and master's secret wife padme, and he's a bit more confident in the sequels, in his own pathetic way.
So he reflects culture. he participates in society despite being designed to be a passive tool of it, and despite standing on the outsides of it due to. being treated as such, as A Droid, A Thing, or at best, even amongst friends, an annyoing old queen.
I simply think if the writers of star wars were as fascinated as I am by the technological implications of naming robot diplomats after the real life technological concept of protocols and exploring what does it mean to do thoughts and works and what is The Grave Omportance And Role Paper Work Can Play In This Space Opera Adventure, things would be great. because i love space bearucracy forever and the robots that do it re cool especially the homosexual mentally ill ones

hi. <3 i'll never get enough of how you gush about sukuna being cultured and a lover of the arts, you consistently put out headcanons that also inspire me to write my own interpretations and i appreciate you so much for it.
but my main question is, what kind of art do you think modern man sukuna would like? in an alternate universe where he was born in the current era. so many fics about him being a chef, a tattoo artist, a history professor — but i'm eager to know what you think.
*cracks my fingers* I've stared at this ask for hours. Lets do this.
Basically, I can see him doing a little bit of everything. He's studied the proper way to produce haiku in canon, references thousands-years-old poetry, and shows himself to be something of a connoisseur of the arts by speaking in a flowery, ornate sort of language, using words like "uo" (Most notably: he references a Chinese poem in canon by the name of "Odes to Bei-jin gu (No. 4)" during the binding vow with Yuuji, uses "shiremono" instead of the modern "baka"when insulting Mahito, calls himself "datenshi" which in modern times means to strike instead of using it like he does for "fallen angel", etc. He uses outdated, ancient dialect borrowed from literature, essentially.) He's well read, refined, I dare venture to say he might have gone further and consumed Heian Era arts himself as a human being before becoming a curse, and he carried over the love of art as a result. (It scares anyone expecting an unrefined, unintelligent monster.) I even posed this to my groupchat to see what my writing partner thought, and they and I have never entertained the idea of him being a history professor, but with some thought, we could both see it. Listen. this is one of the things i want to express about him so much and in every world/au/verse: he's a man of culture. He's a man of the arts. Some arts more than others, of course, particularly the culinary arts as opposed to song writing or directing, but that's not to say that he doesn't have a vague interest in other things. Especially in a modern day sense; he is someone who consumed information on anything that he likes like a man starving. He'll know vague trivia, fun facts, and all sorts of things. Phones and Google tend to be great companions to him when he's engrossed in learning about something. But this is also where I feel like he is more akin to Megumi's interests since he also finds better company among books than in the company of other people. Or Gojo, who also consumes information at a rapid pace. In my writing, he tends to fall into being a tattoo artist (mainly because of the precision required to be good with needlework, and he's someone who can design free-handed as opposed to having a ready-made design to reference for every client. Not to mention that he gets to work in a little bit of everything as a result of different personalities coming in, and he's forced to scheme out and draw all kinds of things for the client's approval. Cats, calligraphy, in memoriam, cityscapes, watercolors (a favorite because it required prior knowledge of lighting and color theory), white ink, he's a wide-range artist that gets a good idea of the client's personality before he basically kicks them out to spend some time designing/sketching. It's also a talent forever being molded, and he can do it anywhere. That's not to say thats all he's up to though. Sukuna's got some talent in the kitchen for sure. He basically learned from consuming all kinds of information from books to video tutorials and watching others cook while he was younger and before he had a good idea of what he was doing. Megumi and Yuuji are his subjects for taste testing. It's the only time Yuu is allowed in the kitchen, frankly. Try to tell him how to work in his own damn kitchen though and he'll point a knife and tell you to get out. His kitchen, his rules. Don't like it? Eat shit then. I can see him liking a lot of arts. Painting, writing, haiku-making, music, composing, it can go on and on. Mostly because he can appreciate the time and effort behind those talents. Arts are the height of human capability.

yamikage x arthur? :> (or if you want to rant, m/etak/irby?)
Tumblr media
AYO shoutout to the like two people who ship this I SEE YOU QUANBLOVK respect
i know i just said id probably write something cute and fluffy but this ship is deeply hilarious to me as a concept. its divorce the ship. theyd be so ♠️♠️♠️♠️♠️ if that makes sense to certain people. i want them to constantly fume about each other in the same way where it can be interpreted as theyre the only thing the other person ever thinks about and yet if they were to ever finally get rid of the other they would feel sort of empty in their life. detective x master thief vibes. b. batman x joker even???????? anyways they should try to kill each other and then kiss
putting the me//takir//by one under the cut HAHAH THANKS FOR THE BITEY EXCUSE EVEN THOUGH YOUVE ALREADY HEARD MY TANGENTS LOGAN ILY /P /AFF
Tumblr media
you know i know i Also just said that i would give people a very long very angry tangent but i think this one from a fandom perspective is very fascinating. in terms of the jp fandom in which we all know its the most popular ship by Miles i personally just try to turn my head and give them more benefit of the doubt due to cultural differences regarding views on fictional content and like. while its gross if they ship something weird i think theres something to be said about westerners trying to enforce their own views regarding purity onto other cultures does that make sense. thats just their own problem they need to work out and so im not gonna Inherently think someones an awful person for shipping me//takirby (unless its anime me//takirby or some shit obviously. take this whole paragraph as me operating under the assumption that theyre using game me//takirby. if anyone ships anime me//takirby im just killing you)
in terms of the western fandom shipping me//takirby..... oh Boy
ive just been ignoring the fact that people Could see kirby as an adult but likeeee. like maybe he was an adult in the past but nowadays kumazaki has Definitely been leaning towards making him much much younger. kumazakis taken his usual very vague open to interpretation stance with insisting that kirbys "wakamono" (which for people who didnt catch that interview, just very vaguely means "young person" which opens up the interpretation that kirby could even be as old as 25ish in canon) but cmon you cant keep making his face bigger in proportion to his body making him look younger and cuter and making him super super tiny in comparison to other characters and having him explicitly not being able to read and write even though other characters can and also having him draw like shit with not even coloring inside the lines and having his best friend be bandana waddle dee and then confirming the waddle dees are all children in forgotten land and then being like "Yeah he could be an adult". like i dont mean to make the assumption that adults cant have child-like qualities but all of those in conjunction with each other are kindaaaaaaaaa hm. the fact that he cant read or write is really the most egregious to the argument that he could be an adult. but anyways
me//takirby instantly gets an L in the western fandom because of how frequently its shipped by prosh//ippers to get a rise out of people full stop. i did know some people who shipped me//takirby purely because they had spent so much time in the jp fandom spaces and thus assumed he was an adult from the get-go or could not see him as anything other than an adult so uh sorry to those people but 9/10 times im just kicking you if you ship it

hey! so i very recently started working with loki (who apparently had been trying to reach me for two years - people really aren't kidding when they say hes persistent) and im trying to find good places to read up on the lore and learn more about him but all i can find are blogs made by marvel fans or obvious nonpagans and websites from non-scandanavian historians (and id feel a lot more comfortable learning about him from scandanavian historians bc of the amount of misinterpretation that happens when other historians interpret norse mythology)
after talking with him a bit hes said that he wants his own altar and is a little peeved i havent given him any offerings yet but i can't really find much on what to offer him? ive heard he enjoys alcohol (particularly rum) and cinnamon but i dont have those. its a bit difficult considering theres no evidence he was worshipped in viking era scandinavia so theres no historical record of what he might like as an offering & i dont wanna do all my research on tumblr or tiktok just seeing what any random person on the internet says is best (ik thats kinda what im doing here but you guys seem very dedicated to accurate information and proper deity work here)
and ive tried asking him ofc but loki just loves to dance around questions and be, well, himself. im just struggling a bit to actually start my devotion with him as i dont really know where to start
Hi!
If you're looking for Scandinavian scholarship specifically, it would be helpful to reblog with the Scandinavian language(s) you speak so we or others can point you to scholars from the respective country. That said, it's important to keep in mind that even historians from Scandinavia are still writing about individuals far in the past, and thus with language and cultural norms that are still foreign to them in many ways. Expertise in a field is valuable, but even experts can be wrong.
In terms of offerings: pretty much anything is acceptable as long as it's offered respectfully and there's no obvious reason why it would be offensive. The truth is that most modern devotees don't have access to the things attested as being offered to the gods historically, at least not in the form they would have been offered in then. And the gods aren't static! We and they work with what we have now, just as it was in the past.
If you're totally stuck on things to offer, we have some suggestions here. Again, though, just because it's not on that list, or any list, doesn't necessarily mean it's not an acceptable offering.
If you haven't, you could also check out our FAQ, which covers the basics on how to get started.

my friend said i should upload these baddies so i thought i would since i can still look at them without wanted to shove forks in my cheeks
these comics in particular were for a school assignment, but never got turned in because i unfortuantly couldn’t turn in digital pieces (,: its okay i still finished the assignment on time, but got docked points cause i forgot labeling like every other student in the class lol we did not pay attention to directions
buuuut yeah it uses my usual comic characters, but the twist is they’re communicating in different ways whoowaooaoao theres three different models and im just gonna copy and paste them over from what i wrote earlier because idk maybe u wanna know what they are idk
linear: essentially like one person speaking and passing information of sorts to the reciever, the example i tried to portray is students listening to a lecture
ineraction: similar to linear, except for that the reciever responds/reacts to the sender after intaking the information. i did this through a phone call
competent model: this one is the most efficient and complex, being influenced by not just outside influnces but inner thoughts and reflections. there are four main kind of "spheres of influence," those being communicators (thoughs and behavior of sender and receiever, how messages are interpretated), relationships (how the sender and receiver know each other, impacts their understanding and reactions), situation (where they are changes the stakes of conversation, social or physical enviornment), and cultural setting (cultural identity, how reciever and sender view own and one another's culture)
but yeah thats all, gonna scram and attempt to study for SATs which prolly wont be successful lol byeeeeeeeeeee

WELL HELLO!
The resounding winner for my poll was Mista and honestly- I don’t talk about him enough?? So gather around, ive got a lot to say about everyone’s favorite golden gun slinger
Tumblr media
Tbh in my personal opinion I never understood why people liked Mista so much. If I had to put Bruno’s gang on a favorite to least favorite basis- Mista would be on the end of the least favorite list.
Now thats NOT saying that I hate Mista- I like all of the characters in Bruno’s gang. I just have a specific attachment to certain characters that earn them a place on the beginning of the ‘favorite’ list. But I decided id take some time and rewatch Mista’s backstory and now I understand again why people like him so much
Tumblr media
Mista’s story is?? Surprisingly the one that is the LEAST marred by tragedy? He’s the only member of Bruno’s gang who didn’t join because he was dealt a bad hand. His carefree youth was essentially destroyed because he decided to do the right thing and ended up getting punished for it which is just downright awful.
No loss of life, no terrible parents, no abandonment, the narrator kind of puts its straightforward that Mista had a pretty chill upbringing. That doesn’t mean his life wasn’t marked with bad luck thought. After RIGHTFULLY choosing to defend a woman who was being attacked, Mista was arrested for murder and his actions were NOT found as self defense. Mista is the hero of his own story but ended up getting punished for his actions.
The only one who ended up actually reaching out to believe him was Bruno himself who in fact DID believe that Mista’s actions were self defense after he was fired on for getting involved. I wouldn’t say that Mista’s life wasn’t marred with bad luck because it was and unfortunately he would end up carrying that onwards. If you consider his tetraphobia then think about the events of Golden Wind
Perhaps meeting Scolippi was bad luck. Perhaps it was bad luck that Mista unknowingly sealed the fate of Narancia and Abbachio next to Bruno even though he didn’t mean it. After all if you notice the restaurant scene with him and Bruno, Mista has exactly three plates on his side. Bruno orders a fourth for Mista. He was the fourth member to join Bruno’s gang. That day he made friends of Bruno, Fugo, Narancia and Abbachio (four people) Poor poor Mista, the signs were everywhere and noticing this now makes me feel that his worries were completely justified. Its even worse when you realize that in certain cultures, the number 4, is very similar to the word death.
Regardless of this I can finally understand why people enjoy Mista so much and it doesn’t have to be in part to extreme character development. Whats interesting to me though is that Mista DOES inherit some resentment to Giorno when he finds out Bruno is dead.
There is a certain part in the epilogue of Purple Haze Feedback and atm I CANNOT find it now- but I remember reading it a while ago. Mista attacked Giorno once they found the body of Bruno and to me that says a lot about how he views him. Giorno after all is ‘the stranger’ he’s the one who made a plan with Bruno IN SECRET to take down Diavolo- perhaps Mista feels some form of hurt or resentment to Giorno over this. However he feels is up to interpretation since we may never know.

HI DOVE! i was painting what do u think is the most beautiful aspect of the face? doesnt have to be physically beautiful!
but also im thinking sm abt ocean metaphors ooh the distance ooh the unfathomable thats within our reach ooooh the lack of control... was reading regen fro school and like wow society. thinking a lot about how people are restricted by institutions and values of their society hmm! do u think we still like, are restricted by those things?
LAB HELLO LAAAB I am late to this, pardon me! I'll try to answer this as promptly and as succinctly as I can, except that "promptly" and "succinctly" by Dove Standards is still a lot of text even if I don't talk about anything particularly profound or below surface level, so I'll be cutting this off!
Since you mentioned painting, I'm going to go based on what I tend to find the most interesting to represent in art, and in that case I find there's usually a tie between eyes and noses for me!
I don't think eyes have to be explained much, "the window to the soul" etcetera et al, but it certainly is true. When it comes to my art, I actually do not have a well-developed sense of facial stylization, especially when it comes to eyes. I just don't have a very consistent way of drawing, and that much becomes painfully clear if you look at a lot of my pieces combined. So I find myself re-drawing eyes a lot from scratch, and it makes me realise just how much any small difference can add characterisation in a new and unprecedented way, whether it be the shape or angle or eyelashes or the slightest squint or scrunch of them. I play a lot with that, and though it can get frustrating when I just can't get the right effect, it is a fascinating experiment in its own way. Sometimes, for fun, I try to test myself by trying to design & draw a set of characters only by their eyes.
Noses in art! I am definitely biased because I have a pretty distinct and large hooked nose that I severely struggled to accept growing up; I ended up realising that if I had a more typical, smaller, ski-sloped or button nose, I wouldn't look at all like myself anymore. It's definitely a strong and prominent feature, love it or hate it, but that's exactly why I essentially realised that it suits me & my personality. So that lead me to experimenting way more with different types of noses, different bridges and sizes, and trying to see how they mend with various features in character design. I find it really beautiful!
I LOVE HOW YOU DESCRIBED THE OCEAN METAPHORS HAHAHAH but it struck me! It reminded me of how I've always felt very drawn to water, especially when I was younger. Though I never knew exactly how to feel about the ocean... it's still beautiful, but something about its vastness felt unsettling to me at times. I could interpret that sense of uneasiness in many different ways, but I won't, to spare you that headache. My last trip was almost one year ago, here is a little photo from that time.
Tumblr media
"Wow society" indeed! I think we are, unfortunately, very much restricted by both of those things in many ways, shapes, and forms, and it takes naiveté and privilege (though they intersect almost inherently in many cases) to be able to say otherwise. If we weren't restricted, I would be living a very, very different life under a very different form of self-expression... but sometimes it hurts to think about that. We have all sacrificed many pieces of ourselves under that circumstance. I'm particularly interested by how restrictions manifest in different ways under more specifically cultural & familial or hereditary means, and how they end up contradicting each other. But that is a very convoluted topic!
You always ask very interesting questions, and I appreciate it greatly! Thank you greatly for taking the time to send me your thoughts :-]

Gender Fluidity is the New Cancer
I'm not a republican or a Democrat. I'm a human. I love living. And life is sacred. Regardless of its sex politics religion or lifestyle
I respect being gay as a lifestyle... I support equal rights, regardless of sex. I would never, ever impose my personal views on another human. Your body. Your rights. End of story there.
There's no malice or hate in my heart for the alphebetizers. Truly. Nothing but love and compassion.
On the flip side, i believe in science. Not a left-leaning, liberal interpretation of 'science' that cares more about furthering a political agenda than the betterment of humanity.
That science should be called what it is: "political indoctrination."
No, i stand against a cultural paradigm shift that's relying too heavily on expensive and experimental medical procedures. Im also not a fan of the way the left leans hard on the surrender of individual freedom to expression, namely the first Amendment rights we have to freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
Its one thing to put laws in place that protect others rights. Thats what Roe v. Wade was Supposed to be. Protection of rights. Red states endangering a woman's right to choose ? Its absolutely maddening. Fuck every one of those crusty, white, Good ol boys that think men have the right to impose bodily restrictions on pregnant women.
Men shouldn't have the right to say shit in regards to reproductive policies. No vagina? Shut the dick hole in your face, bro. If you are that concerned with the sanctity of life, focus on protecting the children that are already outside of the womb. They're the ones who actually NEED protection. Im sure the parents on the news who had children attending schools that were shot up while police did NOTHING would agree. Blue lives matter more than our future voters, apparently.
Try explaining that to little Timmys parents, why Sergeant Peckerwood with his badge and gun did nothing as a psychopathic asshole pulled the trigger that murdered their kid.
But i digress. That's a whole different issue.
The left is actively trying to take away EVERYONE'S rights to expression all because of a few select members of a subgroup that yap the loudest, like the most obnoxious ankle biters in history.
Hannah Gadsby is not a comedian. She's a political chihuahua. She's got her first Amendment rights though.. she can say what she wants.
Here's my thing: Ill debate her identifying as a "comedian" far more passionately than i would debate her choice of gender labels. I don't care if she calls herself a man or woman or gender neutral
I care that she thinks she's funny. She's a fucking leftist bully without a funny bone in her body.
Shes one example of the political subset that's taking us all for a ride. And it's anything but funny.
As if The Patriot Act wasn't enough to usher in a Red police state, now the Blue is taking it a step further by exploiting a political trend for votes. It's a continuation of civil rights erosion that will eventually lead to a civil war if we're not careful.
This is about everyones freedom. Not just trans.
Its about the leftist hypocrisy of using exclusionary language to force cultural inclusion that honestly VERY few object to.
Let trans be included. Give them their own bathrooms, if they want "special rights" ... i think that's doable.
Mr. Conservative-Blue-Collar should be able to rest easier knowing his daughter isnt in the stall next to a man that moonlights as a FarSide cartoon housewife. Its a minimal compromise.
Just don't try to tell the rest of us what we can or cannot say by delegating a disagreement in political bias as "hate speech." That's good old fashioned entitlement holding hands with A Weak, poor character quality.
This is what the left has latched onto with a goddamn locked jaw.
While the Red seeks to erode womens rights while maintaing the hypocrisy of piety, the Blue erodes personal speech, putting up a face of all inclusiveness, while their biases are more than blatant to follow
Our current bipartisan political climate is convoluting the simplest of truths.
We think the opposite party is the enemy. That red is the enemy or blue is the enemy.
Newslash...
Red and blue are the enemy. Both... Heads and tails are on the same fucking coin.
I am against any and all evil machiavellians who seek control over our autonomy. George W. Bush started it by cramming The Patriot Act up our collective asses. Obama continued our civil liberty erosion far more subtlely regardless of his media-blinded idolaters. Then we had Trump who ran this country like his own personal piggy bank, while constantly waivering between bipartisan pressure... and now Biden ... he's doing a bang up job isn't he??
Seems like regardless which party has white house control, the illusion of "We the People" is crumbling fast. They labor to build a utopia that is an empty rotten dream that WE THE PEOPLE will lose in; corporate interests are key. Not indidual autonomy.
We put more trust in biased media that sells empty narratives at the behest of its pharmaceutical addiction, all to our detriment.
Look back to the opioid crisis in the 90s if you want to know what happens when normal citizens put blind trust in Doctors and other medical professionals who are paid by back door lobbyists and pharma sales reps.
We created billionaires out of Big Pharma. All we wanted were pills to fix our "personality flaws" that we derive our insecurities from.
Give us pills to fix our pain.
We got addicted to our godhood. Any time a scientist plays God, im reminded of Ian Malcolm; "your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they COULD, they didn't stop to think if they SHOULD. "
Someone explain, why after the absolute clusterfuck of misinformation from Big pharma during the pandemic, why the majority of general public still trust them when they say whats good for us, despite their lengthy lists of adverse health impacts on EVERY MEDICATION coming from that industry.
Anyone?
*crickets...*
Pay attention to where most of our money in the "free world" ends up. you'll start to see exactly why the world.... and specifically America .... is so fucked up.
When you understand who profits from what resources, it sharpens the picture of what's actually happening.
We are all too distracted with the politics surrounding the issues to be able to see the real forest for all its sleeze.
Few are paying attention.
Those who are in control of the world view Humans as a resource. That's it.
We are a resource of time and labor... but most importantly.... we offer the most compelling resource of all through our buying power. Our greatest asset is what we choose to spend our labor earnings on.
Lobbyists of white collar corporations run the goddamn show now.
The politicians don't.
Ill tell you, a politician is a puppet with a corporate hand jammed up their ass making them speak and vote. They use money as lube.
There's no idealists among thieves.
When you understand that fact, you start to realize how pointless all these fucking debates about "human rights" become.
A political decision that puts human autonomy in the Hands of a corrupt medical tech system and the government, exchanging money to live is a broken system....
Am i wrong?
Maybe... but....
Lets look at this in more detail.
Reassignment surgeries are INSTANT revenue generators.
Not just for a couple months. Or a couple years. For THE REST OF THAT PERSON'S LIFE.
Read up on Elliot Pages or Caitlyn Jenners reassignments. See how involved that process was and how much money was generated by the "simple" task of switching genders ...
Now, think about the money they're generating buying monthly prescriptions of artificially generated drugs and hormones.
They HAVE to take them ...
....so their body doesn't reject the transitions....
And kill them.
Their body will literally turn on them without pharmaceuticals.
Im not even gonna get into picking apart the unnatural science of tricking ones body into believing its another gender... I mean if someone is REALLY that insecure with themselves how they're born and want to put forth the effort and money to change that, more power to them BUT....
... that is a PERSONAL CHOICE.
It SHOULD NOT BE ACTIVELY PROMOTED IN POLITICS AS A MEANS TO GAIN VOTES.
By accepting reassignment surgeries, Elliot Page and Caitlyn Jenner did not "take control of their lives" as the mainstream narrative promotes. They willingly surrendered their physical lives to a corrupt system that fooled them into thinking they were "free" through their own affluence.
Contrary to leftist narratives, Jenner and Page should be less as idealized social pioneers and more poster-children testifying to our entire country's willing blind enslavement to Big Pharma.
If they cease to take hormones and drugs prescribed, it is at the cost of their own well being.
Are they really free? Or are they simply just slaves to a new system of control?
Medical technology companies are thriving. Slavering like dogs at a meat factory with all the "nip and tucks" that are generating a fortune now.
The 1% everyone hates is laughing their way to the bank as we debate semantical politics about "human rights" on social media.
It makes me think about how the EPA recently rejected the premise that glyphosate based herbicides cause cancer.
These weed killers are widely used and professionals in the science community have proven they're poisoning both the population and environment with their use.
But the EPA says "it's all good" because they profit from Bayer/Monsanto lobbyists.
Why? Why infect people with cancer? Why is it so easy to callously dismiss an average citizen who has been diagnosed with cancer from pesticides?
Duh. Money. Its about cash. Welcome to capitalism. Create a problem that creates a disease. Amp up the price on the cure. Simple economics.
A cancer diagnosis is an instant mass income generator for oncologists, surgeons, doctors, specialists ... the list goes on .... and we all know how wealthy they get doing what they do.
Is it so farfetched to think that Bayer/Monsanto WANT people to get cancer so their backdoor profits will increase?
Seems feasible to me.... ive seen cancer in action.
My family almost went broke paying for my Pop-pops in-home care before he finally passed away, all the while in extreme pain and suffering.
......Hmmm........ connection? Where is it ...
Cancer and the "gender fluidity" angle that's now being aggressively promoted by leftists are linked DIRECTLY and ONLY by who is being paid at the end of the day.
Medical tech. And Big Pharma.
In a court of law during a trial, there is a requirement to establish a clear motivation for a crime.
When you look at Big Pharma being poised to make a fortune from all this income generation from artificial gender reassignment surgeries that are all the rage now, it should cause you to think twice about where we are headed. Cause they've got a clear motive : Money.
It's not for the mental health of a cross dresser that thought he would be better off with a vagina after seeing Caitlyn Jenner on 60 Minutes ....
Cancer is one cash cow. So EPA will let cancer causing pesticides slide. And proudly endorse its use.
Gender reassignment will become another new cash cow guaranteeing a LIFETIME of customers to medical tech giants.
The purpose of those who have power is to keep it. they'll fight to do so by establishing systems of hierarchy to keep us subjugated.
They distract us via social media with irrelevant talking points to overburden us with details.
This same leftists currently AGGRESSIVELY pushing gender fluidity are from the SAME right wing government body that makes a fortune from Bayer/Monsanto lobbyists using cancer-causing chemicals in common household weed killers.
They're one.
And we the people are income generators.
Us and them.
We're not divided by citizenry. There exist two separate entities in our cultural habitus alright. But we are divided more in terms of power and income rather than political ideology.
Just like a cancer patients have been dollar sign indicators to the medical industry, so are gender reassignment "patients." Or more accurately, "victims" as I prefer to think of them.
Cancer kills you.
Gender reassignment kills who you were born to be.
So is there a difference?
Im not seeing it.

Album of The Week: ‘La Pioggia Di Marzo’ by Mina
Stand out song: ‘La Pioggia Di Marzo’.
For about three years now I have been buying clothes and other goods from the Accrington based supplier Trickett. The thing is, I say Accrington based but really, thats not where the brand is based at all. Sure, geographically it might be and whilst some of the items are inspired by the local area, the majority of the wears and the spiritual home of the brand is Naples, Italy. My love for Trickett opened my eyes to the city in Southern Italy and a deep adoration was formed for the city’s football team, once home of that certain Argentinian man, perennial underdogs or rather underdonkeys who this season defied all odds and won Serie A. But I digress, I’m not talking about Napoli’s stunning league title win, we could be hear all day otherwise, but instead I am talking about how a little bit of Italian culture goes a long way. And thats just it, whilst I did go to Italy when I was younger, about fifteen years ago infact, I still feel this bit of a connection tot he country because of Trickett. As a result, sometimes I do like to put on background Italian music as I daydream about being there and yesterday was exactly one of those times except when I put on this particular Italian morning playlist, the first song that I heard made me stop in my tracks and then smile from ear to ear.
We’ve been to Italy, now let us go to Norway. Since seeing 2021′s ‘The Worst Person in The World’ it has often occupied a spot in my headspace. This has been the case for a few different reasons. Ofcourse, the film itself, but perhaps more than that is its vision of Oslo which I then replicated to an extent on my own visit to the Norwegian capital, yes I did go to that book store and pretend I was in the film, but even more than the locale and visions of Oslo, it is the soundtrack that has stayed with me the most. ‘The Worst Person in The World’ has an expertly curated soundtrack with the real highlight for me being the ending track that accompanies the ending shots of the film perfectly. When I heard ‘Waters of March’ by Art Garfunkel waft from my television it wormed its way into my heart immediately and it became one of my key songs if not the song of 2022 for me. More than that though, it became one of my key songs for all time. One of those songs that I listen to all the time, that I turn to when I need to listen to something that centres me and one that I know I’ll listen to in years to come to remind me of this time in my life as I do ‘Pet Sounds’ and ‘Saturday Night, Inside Out’ by the Beach Boys and the Avalanches respectively. ‘Waters of March’ is a song that everytime I hear its opening I smile, I instantly get that hygge feeling that I am forever yearning for and yesterday morning, I got that feeling but from a slight variation of a theme.
Now, back to Italy and that Italian morning playlist that I was listening to yesterday morning. When I hit play on the playlist the first song that made its way into my headphones sounded slightly familiar and then extremely familiar before it dawned on me what it was. When I looked at the title, I knew what it was, I didn’t need to be able to read Italian to recognise ‘La Pioggia Di Marzo’. That gentle guitar strumming that opens the track that has become a staple in my life was quickly accompanied by the Italian singer Mina’s upbeat vocals, and I fell for the ‘Waters of March’ all over again. One of my favourite things is in music is to hear different interpretations of the same song and to hear the original versions of songs compared to a track that sampled it. I like hearing these variations on a theme because I like seeing the same track from a slightly different point of view and ‘La Pioggia Di Marzo’ delivers that completely here. It is still the ‘Waters of March’, it contains all of the elements that always draw me to the track but here, it feels oh so Italian, not only in its singer’s vocals but in the overall atmosphere of the track. The ‘Waters of March’ makes me think of autumn and winter and so it stands to reason that this version must make me think of the spring and summer as listening to it makes you feel like you are being bathed in the Italian sun. It is a wonderful, no, mervagliso version of one of my favourite songs that I will now be listening to all summer song.
‘Waters of March’, ‘The Worst Person in The World’, Trickett, Napoli, ‘La Pioggia Di Marzo.’ Everything is connected and there truly is beauty in that.
-Jake, a man who should probably head to Italy, 29/05/2023

https://screenrant.com/loki-show-sylvie-romance-incest-backlash-director-response/  Okay but this is super weird because... For a start she pretty much says the fans interpretation of it as incest isn’t invalid and for a second her own interpretation of it doesn’t really explain why its not incest in her eyes and furthermore it contradicts a lot.  We’re told countless times that Loki and Sylvie are “”the same.”” Shes literally a variant of him. I would have been content to NOT see it as incest if they hadn’t made sure to let us know (in easter egg form) that Sylive and Loki share like a genetic origin. She doesn’t come from some way out alternate universe where everything is different. She comes from a sister universe where Loki was born female. She has the same parents as Loki and if her timeline wasn’t pruned she would have the same family.
The only other thing that makes her “different” from Loki is obviously the fact that her upbringing was different after the TVA orphaned her and she had to raise herself. That doesn’t change her origins. She can’t just rename herself and suddenly shes not Loki anymore and changing her first name doesn’t change the fact that she still has the same parents as Loki.  Like Id love to see this as not incest too but when you put them both down on paper as the children of Laufey its hard to ignore.  Like if her family didn’t get pruned imagine this: Frigga your son is in a relationship with your daughter. Thor your brother is in a relationship with your sister. Lauefy your biological daughter is in a relationship with your biological son.  ?????? But this is suppose to be ignored because they’re from a different universe even when the universes only real difference is one is male and the other is female????  There is no obviously drastic difference that indicates a different origin like what is the case with Alligator Loki and maybe even boastful Loki.  I mean you could at least argue boastful Loki might have had different parents to Main!Loki or at least ONE different parent. Alligator Loki is a no brainer because hes a completely different species.  On top of ALL THIS we were told multiple times in canon that Loki and Sylvie’s relationship was wrong. Sick. Twisted. Demented. Unnatural. Ect. This obviously comes from the characters recognising that Sylvie and Loki are in fact too closely related to be trying to hook up. Though they’re variants of the same person they’re also basically boy-girl twins.
Having different personalities and different goals and upbringings does absolutely nothing to change that. Me and my brother have different personalities, goals and even upbringings in places because he lived with my mum for a portion of his life and I didn’t. But guess what?? We’re still siblings LMAO. Like I’m sorry her explanation is UTTERLY BIZZARE & makes NO SENSE.  Get me wrong I don’t think Loki & Sylvie's “”romance”” is sustainable. I wouldn’t think it was even if it was written better. I don’t see it lasting and in fact I kind of think its already ended. But this is still so weird. And the way the canon handled this ““romance”“ was so forced and half hearted.
I seriously cannot get my head around why it was ever there. Like I thought maybe it was another part of the writing team trying to indicate to us that it was wrong but with Kate saying this now I’m just ????  Also don’t like to think Loki would just casually engage in incest / any cest period and before anyone sprouts shit about the Horse Story A) Did not happen in the MCU and B) the whole horse story is born of a specific sort of homo/transphobia that existed in ancient Nordic culture, do some research. But like ??? if they could give me a SOLID understandable reason for why its not BASCIALLY incest I’d eat it up bc IF I HAVE TO HAVE SYLKI as canon ID REALLY love for it to at least not be Incest.  Then maybe I could be “”okay”” with it. Id still have my problems with it because theres just a LOT of awkwardness even outside of the too-close-to-siblings for comfort, but it wouldn’t be a completely untouchable relationship. You could imagine it being OKAY if it was written better and not seemingly used to censor  Lokis queerness but.
Like really the least they could have done was been like “Sylvie had totally different parents”. Its an AU. Sylvie's parents could have been anyone. Any frost giants could have stood in Lafuey’s place. If its a different universe the royal Jotun family could have been totally different. But no, no one wanted to use their brains for ten seconds and just rushed together this cringe m/f presenting romance with no deeper thought because yawn. Obviously Frost Giant Laufey doesn't have to be your father for a Loki to be a Loki (again see Alligator Loki )  And thats another reason why I’m pissed with this whole series. Because its just sloppy with little thought for anything. Now those of us who arent painfully straight and arent 2012 era fangirls who are just seeing Sylvie as a self-insertion vessel to vicariously live out their wishful fantasies of having Loki fall hopelessly in love with them, have to sit here and bang our heads on the wall bc none of it makes sense and its tragic for both characters and Loki’s actual fanbase.  Just.

Any and/or all of the barraki for the headcanon meme! Mantax or Ehlek especially, please.
Ohohohoo thank you so much. This sounds really fun!
I admit the Barraki are kinda weird for me since I do like them a lot (as my occassional ramblings and my fanproject desires may attest to), but at the same time they kinda do fall to the typical villain writing trappings of the series. As such, headcanons can be a rather tricky thing, given the limitations of canon. Doesn't mean Im not going to try though, haha.
I'm going to do Ehlek since he is one of my personal favorites and he's the one you asked for (don't really have any Mantax headcanons, sorry >A<) +As much as I love him I rarely talk about him.
Realistic
Just like how most surface dwellers see hi species as alien, Ehlek (and by extension his species as whole) have a general detestment for the surface dwellers due to seeing them as fundamentally different from themselves. This "others different=bad" mindset was caused by their distrustful nature, and seeing anything strange as potentially dangerous.
(I think this is practically canon but I like it a lot tbh)
Unrealistic but hilarious
He makes hissing noises when angry but they're more cute than actually threatening.
Heartcrushing
While Ehlek always had anger issues, his paranoia and distrust issues of others* was a result of being constantly used as a political pawn/tool,(metaphorically) tossed around and betrayed by those closest to him. This all went to the point that he only really trusts his generals, and even then he has severe fears they will abandon and leave him.
Just *points* this boy can fit so much abandoment and trust issues into him.
*I do like the idea that his species is moderately distrustful by nature (or possibly more culture based dunno) but I do feel that he has passed the general distrust level and is now onto outright trust issues.
Unrealistic but I refuse to believe in canon and substitute it with my own
This is kinda walking between the fine line of headcanon and portrayal but man if I'm not a huge fan of making him more sympathetic and/or tragic character, and giving him an incredibly sad backstory.
I'm a huge fan of sympathetic/tragic villains in general, and I'm also a fan of giving a villain group at least one more sympathetic member (though there are exceptions, I dont think you could make any of the Piraka sympathetic ib all honesty). As I really like the whole dynamic where one of the antagonists is less malicious compared to the rest creates interesting friction.
So for some reason I really like the idea that one of the Barraki would be the token sympathetic/tragic villain. Idk why, theyre freaking imperialistic conquerors for Petes sake. But for some reason the idea has stuck in my head. Perhaps its a desire to flesh them out, perhaps its me wanting to make them more than just Piraka 2.0. I dont know honestly why. It just did.
As for why Ehlek??? Well, it was partially a progress of elimination. Pridaks the most "battle hungry conqureor" of the bunch and being the "big bad leader" he was out. Kalmah feels too cruel, Mantax too secretive and edgy loner. Takadox could work and originally I wanted to give him a more sympathetic backstory but those ideas were shot down by me not only feeling I made his backstory/characterization too much of a Nidhiki clone but also because I wondered if a more sympathetic interpretation fit well with the "Takadox is a manchild" interpretation thats pretty popular here (as well as somewhat upported by canon). Really the only other valid choice is Carpar, and even then...Idk. I like it but dunno.
But it wasn't that Ehlek being the last one left was my only reason to make him more sympathetic. Because honestly Ehleks characterization already feels somewhat different from other Bionicle villains. What I mean is how he is driven by his emotions, primarly his anger. Sure, there are other angry villains too, Pridak is a prime example. But the main difference I see with Pridak and Ehlek is that Pridaks anger, while stemming from deep seated grudgeful nature, feels temperamental and petty. Ehleks meanwhile feels way rawer and personal, like his own emotions were hurt in a deep way beyond "this guys an angry grudgeful jerk". So since he feels so different I feel it makes sene to make him more different too.
Theres also the fact that characters with anger issues make me have protective instinct towards them and Ehlek definitely is case where this is true.
As for a headcanon, related to the above I really dig the idea of him being the "prince" of his realm, originally starting as a genuinely good if not naive person, genuinely wanting to change the world for the better, but as a result of being tossed around like a political hot potato and having his naivety and innocence been used, he became more and more embitterened until he essentially broke mentally and became incredibly disteustful. His innocence was completely taken away from him and he became incredibly bitter and jaded towards the world, both his own and especially the surface world, which he saw as pure evil due to his own experiences.
Send me a characters name to receive four different headcanons

Second this is straight up like. The most invested I've ever been in a fandom tbh, it's the first time I've posted anything and the first time I've attempted fanfiction!! (tho I haven't finished or posted anything yet) I recently thought up a headcanon that ghosts see more of the light spectrum than we do and that thats also how they become invisible, by only reflecting light humans can't see. I'd like to make a little fic abt it I think! Maybe one where a bunch of bugs follow him around bc I think it'd be cute
I think what really gets me about this fandom is the potential for worldbuilding. The show did close to fuck all in terms of exploring its own lore, but there were hints everywhere of how the world might work, and it's SO FUN to play with!! It leads to so many interpretations that are all equally plausible! Plus the huge amount of AUs inspired just by the source material... the way it lends itself to crossovers super easily as well, considering Clockwork has sent Danny into a different universe in the show (yknow, to stop the timeline where his family and friends and teacher die because he cheated on a test, eventually leading to him destroying the world...... there are some interesting morals in the show)
The angst potential is also insane, and I'm actually interacting with angst a lot more in this fandom than I usually would bc its so beautifully handled a lot of the time. Between identity reveals going wrong and the Guys in White getting a hold of him and Vlad being a shitbag to Danny being the GHOST KING
Ghost King Danny is probably one of my favorite AUs, I think partially bc its really fun to explore how insane it is for poor Danny to be saddled with this huge responsibility, and also to see how much power that gives him? Like on the one hand thats too much for a kid his age to handle and I feel like I might be projecting a bit since I was responsible for more than I would've liked from a young age, but also it reeeally spices up identity reveal scenarios and can save him too much grief in others bc depending on the take, a huge amount of the ghost zone has his back!! Like uhhh No, you are NOT going to mess with our King, [insert possible antagonist here]
It's also super fun to think of what ghost culture might be like, as well as just how ghosts work! We see glimpses in the show, but again, nothing is explored much? I love the universally accepted headcanon that ghosts have a vital organ called a core (though how it works varies greatly from person to person), and the idea that there are multiple ways a ghost forms (like from a being dying, or just forming from ectoplasm and strong emotions or big concepts, or being straight up born??). I've also seen the idea that a lot of ghosts don't really mean harm to Danny and that ghost culture is generally more violent bc they're not as squishy as humans!
Also!! There's gonna be a new graphic novel which is sick as hell! We don't know much more than that, but hopefully Nickolodeon doesn't mess too much with the creative team, because I'm really interested to see where they take it (especially since I think bitch fartman doesn't have any say in decisions? I'm not sure on that tho). Either way it's new content and I'm excited to see where the fandom goes with it too!
I have also realized the reason I don't infodump much is because I'm terrible at explaining things and trip over my words and am hard to follow lmao, particularly in person. You'd think that as an actor I'd be a little better with words but naaah lmao. I need to rehearse them for them to come out right apparently
Anyway idk how coherent that was but if u ever want to hear me ramble about dp feel free to send me more asks! Esp on my sideblog, I'm Always down down yell abt it!! Thank u for sending me that ask btw, it was really nice to do a bit of infodumping!!!💜💜💜

I know different interpretations of a work are generally enriching and cool... but c!dream villan interpretations is like how to tell me you only watch Tommy without saying you only watch tommy.... which would be fine but its not a great place to be making statements about the whole nature of the dsmp lol
Wild speculation, but sometimes I wonder if like, because the dsmp didn't really start as a narrative, and a lot of fans don't nessecarily enter it expecting a narrative, but then there is one and the fandom is really discourse heavy and everyone is sort of excpeted to have an opinion while maybe not expecting to form one from the begining or not having a ton of experience with narrative in a way that would "expect" them to have an opinion or not take things at face value??, I don't know if I explained that well at all... and I don't really even think thats right nessecarily... but like wow sometimes some of the takes about power and government and villany...
Honestly, it makes sense!!!
I think something interesting is like.... looking at how animatics have shaped the like tone and culture of the fandom essentially. Like, an interesting fact that I didn't really fully grasp until SUPER recently is like...
c!Wilbur out the gate admits he is manipulating c!Tommy. Like his first youtube video on the Dream SMP he admits his goal is to manipulate c!Tommy and people like c!Tommy into helping him achieve a potion ("drug") empire to monopolize on potions because there were a lot of people on the server who like to min-max, which is to put all of your effort into this one specific skill essentially. so like... i know minecraft doesnt have a skill tree but if it did, it would be putting all your points into that one specific branch of a skill tree. So he wanted to exploit the labor of all the TommyInnits to.... maintain a Potion Empire.
THIS IS A LONG POST BC I GOT CARRIED AWAY SO BUCKLE UP
And I don't think a lot of the fandom who joined later on knows this. I certainly didn't until like a week or so ago? Like... I knew c!Wilbur had been manipulative from the start because I'm a mod of (shameless self promo incoming) @dsmpanalysis and we have a lot of different POVs in that mod team and discord and we talk about it really frequently. I joined the fandom as someone who was really big on L'manburg ESPECIALLY crimeboys, and have turned into.... *gestures vaguely to my blog*
And ngl I owe a lot of it to @1-michibiki-1 in terms of c!Dream "Apologism" but all of the mods there have expanded my thoughts and views on the storylines of this narrative.
My application consisted of like largely essays about like... how I think Dream was the villain but he was meant to be the villain because you don't get any insight into his character WHICH.... IS A FAIR ASSUMPTION AT FIRST GLANCE. People are easily villainized when you cannot get a glimpse into their thought process. It's easy to dwindle someone down into this flat character and starting out I knew Dream didn't stream the SMP on purpose.
And I personally came to the conclusion of "Oh! So Dream is supposed to be the villain." However as the story continued and I learned more about what Dream went through I began to realize that... it's more than likely a form of a red herring. My opinions on this were immediately solidified when I watched Ranboo's 2 MIL stream because both Ranboo AND Dream agree on enjoying red herrings.
There have been MANY times were Dream has said that c!Dream is a complex character and he's not a wholly evil guy and there have been times where the narrative has honestly just proved that.
Anyways, what's important though was that... I learned most of this from other people who were more focused on c!Dream rather than myself. Eventually I shifted from c!Tommy to c!Ranboo and c!Techno after c!Tommy betrayed c!Techno and I began to realize.... everything I learned before hopping in wasn't exactly what it seemed.
Part of this is because I'm older, I heavily identify with c!Techno's sense of loyalty and philosophies on government, but I especially identify with the anguish c!Techno voiced in... a lot of lore but especially the lore around Doomsday.
I'm not 16 anymore. I don't always feel wronged by adults, or older people in my case, whenever they absolutely have done something wrong by me, but I do feel wronged by my close friends. I also felt like c!Tommy's sense of loyalty didn't line up with mine after what felt like him constantly flip-flopping and refusing to understand c!Techno's morals on government didn't line up with his.
In short, it was easier to identify with Tommy in these animatics versus in the actual stream content because c!Tommy is played by a 16 year old. I'm not a teenager and my line of thinking doesn't entirely line up with people that age anymore. It's harder to place myself in the same shoes of someone's OC who is played closer to their actual age, because I'm not that age.
Regardless, I was still on the c!Dream is a villain train. I wasn't ever like... c!Dream is repulsive I hate him, but I was like omg hot villain lad go brrr.
Even when the first like... mellohi, panic room, Ranboo lore stream popped up I thought "Oh! c!Ranboo corruption arc?"
And I was excited because I really wanted this shy, nervous character to turn into villain buddies with his good pal c!Dream. I'm a total sucker for villains and corruption arcs and all that good shit.
SO I STARTED GETTING REALLY INTERESTED IN ENDERSMILE. I'VE BEEN ON ENDERSMILE SQUAD OUT THE GATE. NOT THE SAME WAY I AM NOW, BUT I'VE ALWAYS WANTED THEM TO TEAM UP.
So... upon not really keeping up with c!Dream and being relatively??? indifferent? I don't think I started arguments on c!Dream back then, but I might have. But I remember like... starting to participate more whenever c!Dream came up and looking more into Dream's character BUT ESPECIALLY TALKING WITH OUR SERVER'S C!DREAM SPECIALIST MICHI ABOUT DREAM A LOT MORE.
And because Michi has been a watcher since day one and was a DTeam fan rather than a SBI fan, she was able to provide me with more information on how the server worked pre-Tommy but especially pre-Wilbur.
Now, you could definitely argue well Michi probably has clear bias but it made sense to me when I looked back on how the storyline had been constructed and was going along, and everyone in the server talks a lot about our own biases and how we want people to maybe not lean so hard on them. Michi would also provide like anecdotes on what had happened and I'm sure links were probably provided at one point but the point was I felt like Michi had no reason to lie or manipulate how the story was told and if she did, eventually someone would have pointed it out because... Group of like... right now it's around 20 or more analysts but I don't remember how many at the time there were. POINT BEING, WE'VE ALL GOT POINTS TO PROVE AND IN MY EXPERIENCE NOT MANY OF US HAVE BEEN SHY TO PROVE THEM.
So if anyone ever had any differing opinions they would be talked about and we literally had and still have discussions.
REGARDLESS.... I DIDN'T FACT CHECK IN DEPTH BECAUSE I THOUGHT PEER REVIEW WAS ENOUGH WHEN YOU HAVE LIKE HOURS UPON HOURS OF STREAMS TO WATCH.
Anyways. Eventually I started paying closer attention and looking more into c!Dream lore but only recently have I started to triple check before speaking about c!Wilbur lore because I know everyone has biases and while I did trust everyone's thoughts and analysis in the discord, whenever I make essays I typically like it to be largely air tight and if theres a mistake, I want it to be because I forgot not because I just trusted what was said. Plus, I wanted to get down to the specifics of how Wilbur had always started with manipulation on the mind.
SO I WATCHED HIS FIRST VIDEO ON THE DREAM SMP.
AND WHAT I WAS NOT BY ANY MEANS EXPECTING WAS WILBUR TO SAY WORD FOR WORD, VERBATIM,
"SO WHY DON'T I START AN INDUSTRY WHERE I USE THE TOMMYINNITS OF THE WORLD TO WORK FOR ME, TO CREATE THINGS THAT THE MIN-MAXERS OF THE WORLD WILL WANT."
Like... this is in no way an attempt to like hardcore villainize c!Wilbur like everyone does Dream, it's just more so to like REALLY outline how far off a lot of fandom interpretation of c!Wilbur is....
Because of SBI focused animatics.
Now, when I joined I watched A LOT of animatics that really highlighted like... Wilbur being this self-loathing JD-esque, "I destroyed it because I had to because the world was against me because no one loved us, Tommy" type of character. At least... that's what it came across as.
And it definitely highlighted the fact that Tommy was a victim, which he is. He is undoubtedly a victim and no not even any dream apologist can change my mind otherwise. Tommy, despite being an instigator sometimes, didn't deserve the abuse he received.
But these animatics never shown the fact that c!Wilbur started L'manburg as a shady ploy to exploit people like c!Tommy and vilify c!Dream so he could have power.
And that was easy because Dream and Tommy had wars before. They had spars and pranks and here's the plan to take back my disks and here's the plan to out smart the thieving little child etc etc.
And all of the animatics I watched never mentioned this. Neither did the recaps though. The recaps gave the events flat out, there didn't sound like there was bias, and honestly I don't really know if there was rather than like... a lack of nuance. And it's hard to provide a recap with that much nuance in a short period of time for a youtube video, to be perfectly fair.
However, this creates a perfect formula for entirely rewriting the history of a server. c!Wilbur quite literally fucking succeeded TO A META LEVEL. He slandered and ran smear campaigns against Dream and like he even does that with Sapnap in the beginning. But what's crazy is that it transferred over into the meta! Most of this fandom understands Wilbur as a victim of mental illness, and yeah maybe? He definitely wasn't mentally well by the end of pogtopia, but he never started out with honorable intentions. L'manburg was never a victim, only its citizens. The TommyInnits of the world.
I just think it's like... such an interesting case study. Because this is like... an opinion like shared by at least half of the fandom, but the vilifying of c!Dream is shared by MOST of the fandom I would argue. Which is like even more crazy for me because that was c!Wilbur's goal!!!
LIKE I GO INSANE WHEN I THINK OF THIS BECAUSE HIS REACH IS JUST TOO POWERFUL. HE'S NOT EVEN ENTIRELY REAL, JUST A MANIPULATIVE PERSONA OF SOME BRITISH GUY.
And I mean... maybe people who have watched Wilbur's video on the SMP still maintain this idea that Wilbur wasn't always the bad guy, but honestly... I wouldn't be surprised if their introduction was still an animatic. Like bias is hard to check and I'm not going to lie I could have sworn I watched both Wilbur's AND Tommy's video on the SMP in the beginning and yet I STILL was a ride or die for tragic yet on some level still honorable Wilbur and a resilient Tommy.
Like... upon watching Wilbur's first video... possibly again I was surprised because I thought I did watch it like right before I even started watching the streams and yet I was still so invested in c!Wilbur as this tortured anti-hero.
It took 6 months of... not being in an echo chamber, full of multiple different people of different ages, different stream POVS, and people who joined the fandom at different points in time.
IDK IF THIS WAS EVEN ENTIRELY RELEVANT IT JUST FELT TANGENTIALLY RELEVANT AND THIS WAS SOMETHING I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT FOR A HOT MINUTE AFTER LIKE WATCHING WILBUR'S FIRST VIDEO AGAIN.
TLDR;
SBI CENTRIC ANIMATICS HAD A LASTING AFFECT ON THIS FANDOM AS IT'S HARD TO GO BACK AND ACTUALLY CHECK THE NARRATIVE FOR SOLID FACTS FOR YOUR OWN INTERPRETATION BASED ON THE FACT THAT THIS NARRATIVE SPANS OVER HUNDREDS OF HOURS WORTH OF TWITCH STREAMS.
