Tig Skulzen, Skinbearer. 

Tig lived on the island of Skania, which is part of the greater Scandinavian archipelago (in the future southern Finland sinks separating the peninsula from the mainland [because sea levels {also erosion (also Finnish people)}])

Fortunately, the great Suksi Vittuun Venäjä canal system really paid off in the end, because now mainland Europe is overrun with an eusocial hivemind human species known as the Myrm who are terrifying and warlike. But, like, even more than is normal for Europeans. If the Scandians shared a land border with Myrm, they'd have probably all been genocided or enslaved by now.

In my world, skinsuits are biopunk custom organisms that you can wear symbiotically and give you a bunch of superpowers like squid skin and marsupial pouches and pinning your bones back in place like the berserker armor from Berserk. People don’t actually remember how to make them, but have been breeding them for tens of thousands of years.

People who wear them are known as ‘Skinbearers’, and they’re expected to be upstanding, brave, masculine heroes and guardians of their communities. Typically, in Tig’s culture, skinbearers are men or butch tomboys (her culture has strict binary gender roles, but recognizes more than just two genders [vaguely similar to many IRL precontact Pacific and Amerindian cultures like Bakla and Twospirit, but by no means 1:1]).

Also, did I say ‘wear’? Because no, skinsuits actually fuse to you, then digests your skin, so it can become your new skin, which is usually pretty traumatic and disfiguring and also castrates you (side effect of eating your skin), and it feeds off your blood (and waste), and also fucks with your brain, and has a mind of its own and doesn’t always ask for permission first. Few people actually want to be skinbearers, it's seen as an act of self-sacrifice so you can be strong enough to protect your community from monsters.

Tig was just a girl, an ordinary farm girl who wants to do ordinary farm girl things like have a cottage core aesthetic and farm potatoes or have a family. But no. Her whole family including her father (a skinbearer) was killed in front of her by a hivemind species (Myrm). Then his skinsuit forced itself onto her.

So, now she’s expected to do the whole with ‘great power comes great responsibility’ thing, which is something she has no desire for. Also, the skinsuit gives her really bad dysphoria, as a previously cis person forced into what she considers a masculine body and societal role.

The worst part is, she’s starting to lose herself to him.

Fun Fact: I didn’t know there was a comedian named Tig when I came up with the name. I just got it off a nordic baby name website and thought it sounded cool.

Fun Fact: Tig is my attempt at using weird gross fetish content as inspiration for extremely unsexy biopunk parasitic living suit body horror. (yeah, parasitic living suits are apparently a “thing”, idk)

Fun Fact: Tig is a thinly veiled and heavily symbolic trans allegory, as are most of my characters (the rest are thinly veiled and heavily symbolic neurodivergent allegories [unless they're just straight up unambiguously trans or neurodivergent, I don't do subtext]).

Do you have any Nyo Sufin Hc's of Nyo Nordic polycule hc's ?

That's such a good question actually, I don't think about the nyos a lot in general but somehow I really enjoy the idea of a nyo nordic polycule so thanks for stimulating my brain I guess :D

I think sweden is the only nordic with a canon design (tall, glasses, long straight blond hair, no as 'scary' looking as her male counterpart) so that's the look I imagine for her. I hc nyo finland as short and chubby, somewhat round and soft with shoulder-long blond hair and rosy cheeks, very cottage core if that makes sense.

They are opposites in many ways, but they both share their love for the simple things in live. Homemade food (especially pastries!), long evenings with each other and their girlfriends, a little house of their own with a garden to grow vegetables and fruit and flowers. I feel like this sounds very cliché but that's definitely what I hc for them <3

Since you sent this to my nsfw blog I guess I should also talk about how else they spend their evenings and that being said I think the girls are a lot softer but in no way less creative than the boys. Finland, Sweden and Turkey's discussions regarding the Nordic countries' applications for Nato membership will recommence on Monday, Ilta-Sanomat (siirryt toiseen palveluun) reports.

The Finnish President's office tweeted (siirryt toiseen palveluun) on Sunday about the continuation of the talks, which will be hosted by Nato's Secretary General Jen Stoltenberg in Brussels.

Turkey has repeatedly expressed its opposition to Finland and Sweden's Nato membership citing concerns about what it believes is Kurdish-related terrorist activity in the two countries. More specifically, Erdogan's government has accused the two states of hiding and protecting suspected members of Kurdish independence group PKK—which the EU has classified as a terrorist organisation.

A series of demands have been made by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in order to accept the membership applications, threatening to postpone his decision by a year if talks fail to find common ground, according to IS.

Prime Minister Sanna Marin (SDP) told reporters on Sunday that Turkey had previously expressed support for Finland's membership, but has since changed its stance since the application.

"It would be really important for us to reach a solution so that we can move forward in the whole process. This whole situation is very unfortunate, as before Finland expressed its willingness for NATO membership, Turkey had stated that it would not cause any problems in this process," the Prime Minister said.

NCP's #MeToo scandal

National Coalition Party (NCP) parliamentarian Wille Rydman has found himself embroiled in a harassment scandal, following a publication on Sunday by Helsingin Sanomat (siirryt toiseen palveluun) (HS) reporting on several claims of inappropriate behaviour.

A few women told HS that Rydman used his position to gain access to young women and girls and behaved in a threatening and suggestive way, at times serving alcohol to underage girls in doing so.

Rydman denies all allegations, according to Ilta-Sanomat, among others.

It is going to be a sunny start to the Midsummer week, following a rainy weekend, tabloid Iltalehti (siirryt toiseen palveluun) (IL) reports. Temperatures will hover around 20 degrees Celsius in the south and 15 degrees in the north.

Court imprisons Turku politician, girlfriend for secretly filming children in school showers

The District Court of Southwest Finland has handed down a prison sentence to a Turku politician for filming underage girls in the shower rooms of a school.

Sasu Haapanen, a former mayoral candidate for the Left Alliance party in the city of Turku, was sentenced to two years and two months' imprisonment on aggravated charges of spreading sexually indecent imagery of a child and sexual exploitation of a child as well as six counts of sexual abuse of a child.

The court also convicted Haapanen's girlfriend, who had secretly taken the photos of the children aged 7-10 in the shower room and given them to him for sexual purposes.

She was sentenced to two years' imprisonment on six counts of spreading sexually indecent imagery of a child and six counts of sexual abuse of a child.

In its ruling, the court said that the defendants' actions were particularly reprehensible as they had taken place in a school.

Beautiful Nordic natural scenery is being served in Durar music video! The video was made in Sweden and Laura tells the location was very thoughtfully selected. However, nothing else we don't the meaning of the red cottage by the lake.

I have to admit, as a Finn.. I do feel a little sad feeling that Finland, the land of thousands of lakes wasn't selected but maybe our turn will come later. I feel Laura's music videos tend to have too much studio-feeling and "american". For the financial reasons I do understand majority of video clips (not just Laura's) are being actually made in States. In addition to the clips made in Amsterdam in 2011, Sino a ti from 2013 (Laura's parents love story) and Nadie ha dicho in 2018, Durar offers now freshness and new kind of visuality.

Personally I've been hoping for LP video clip made in the Nordics or Baltics for a long time - where the weather and different kind of natural sceneries could offer new emotional rawness even to Laura's songs. What do you think of the new video clip?

Since I enjoyed doing that last thread so much, here's another! The Nordic five, their gym type and what Pokémon I think they'd have!

Iceland:

Its no surprise here that I'd imagine Iceland to specialise in Ice types. This is a reference not just to his landscapes and climate, but Iceland's nickname as the "land of ice and fire".

Now for Iceland's gym, I imagine that the gym would take place at a glacier. There, you'll battle other trainers who will give you direction as to where Iceland is. You're given a compass and map at the start of the challenge and you must find him! Iceland's battlefield is dappled with the colours of Northern lights in the night sky, a mysterious aura covers the battlefield! Once you win and obtain your gym badge, Iceland will gift you a book on ice type Pokémon (a reference to Jolabokaflod).

Iceland's potential ice type team: Aurorus, Frosmoth, Mamoswine, Baxcalibur, Froslass and Alolan Ninetales.

If Iceland was a regular trainer on his Pokémon journey I think he'd have a more varied team with Pokémon like: Eiscue (a reference to the puffin that he's often seen with canonically), Volcarona (a reference to Iceland's volcanoes), Sharpedo (a reference to Iceland's national dish, Hákarl) and Impidimp (a reference to Icelandic beliefs surrounding elves).

Norway:

Now for Norway, I imagine him to be a fairy type gym leader in reference to his use of magic and the mystical creatures we've seen him interact with canonically (similar to England).

Now for his gym, I envision as a traveller that you are faced with magnicent fjords. Before you take on Norway, you catch at least three water Pokémon (you're provided with net balls for this and a fishing rod) whilst you're on board a fishing boat and of course, you'll face some fellow trainers along the way. Once you've completed this, you'll face Norway, whose battlefield is hidden behind a waterfall that you must enter which opens up into a spacious cavern. When you win and obtain your badge, Norway will gift you a knitted Norwegian scarf as he says you look cold.

Norway's potential fairy type team: Azumarill, Togekiss, Primarina, Tinkaton, Mimikyu and Mega Altaria as his ace.

As a regular trainer, he'd for sure have more variety to his team with Pokémon such as: Amaura (reference to the Northern lights), Wailmer (a reference to the unfortunate practice of Whale hunting, though some restrictions are now in place), Emploeon (a reference to Brigadier Sir Nils Olav) and Sudowoodo (a reference to the fact that Norway gifts London a Christmas tree every year).

Finland:

Now for Finland, in line with the stereotypes surrounding Finland and mental music as well as the stereotypes surrounding Finnish people as being rather "introverted" and the lack of sunlight during certain times of the year, I can imagine Finland to be a dark type gym leader.

Finland's gym would be set in a place reminiscent of Lapland, a reference to Finland's role as Santa Claus in the manga. You as a trainer are tasked with helping to deliver presents to trainers on the premises with the help of Stantler pulling you on a sleigh and battling them too. Once you've delivered ten presents, you're taken to a cosy looking cottage on the outside, but inside it's a gym that's festively decorated but with metal music playing over the speakers. Once you win and have your badge, Finland will invite you to have cookies and cocoa with him.

Finland's potential dark type team: Umbreon, Weavile, Absol (mega), Obstagoon, Grimmsnarl and Liepard.

Finland's more varied trainer team: Delibird (a reference to Christmas), Magcargo (a reference to Finnish saunas and how hot they get- I imagine this Pokémon to be useful in a sauna), Bewear (a reference to Finland's national animal being the brown bear), Blissey (reference to Finland being one of the happiest countries in the world).

Sweden:

In relation to Sweden's famed committment to sustainability and recycling as well as being known for neatness, I can see Sweden being a grass type gym leader, one who advocates for the environment.

His grass type gym I can see being a beautiful forest (Sweden has a high percentage of forest space) where you as a trainer are tasked with litter picking, you'll be given the necessary equipment and a cute little uniform. You'll encounter trainers along the way and will slowly make your way to Sweden's battlegrounds, which is a simplistic battlefield guarded by large, daunting trees. Once you win and obtain your badge, Sweden will take you to a furniture store (IKEA reference here) for some meatballs and he will offer to build a piece of furniture for you.

Sweden's potential grass type team: Venusaur, Sceptile (Mega), Lilligant, Tsareena, Toedscruel and Meowscarda.

Sweden's more varied trainer team: Minccino (to help him clean, another reference to Sweden's cleanliness), Jigglypuff (a reference to Sweden's famed music artists), Rapidash (reference to the Dala horse), Trubbish (a reference to Sweden's recycling again).

Denmark:

In reference to Mjölnir, Thor the God of Thunder's hammer, which has ties to Scandinavian mythology, Denmark's renewable energy usage and promotion of sustainability as well as canon Denmark's personality; I think it'd be fitting to have him as an electric type gym leader.

I can see Denmark's gym taking place in a theme park (reference to Tivoli and Bakken) which is powered by renewable energy. In the thene park, you have to battle fellow trainers and park goers to advance to Denmark. Along the way, you're tasked with riding five attractions before you are to fight Denmark (you'll get a stamp as proof of this). Denmark's main battlefield will take place in front of a palace at the center of the theme park where you'll battle him on the Palace grounds. Once you beat him and get your badge, Denmark will gift you some Lego and pastries.

Denmark's potential electric type team: Ampharos (mega), Luxray, Alolan Raichu, Jolteon, Magnezone and Electabuzz.

Denmark's more varied trainer team: Swanna (a reference to the Mute Swan as Denmark's national animal), Dashsbun (a reference to Danish pastries and dishes like Smørrebrød), Primarina (a reference to the Little Mermaid), Smeargle (a reference to Danish design and architecture).
