Sam smiled, his brown eyes turning golden in the dawn. It was such a Sam look, the twinkle of mischief, the hint of exasperation, the kindness that would always, always make him a better person than she was.
Sarah J Maas - The Assassin’s Blade
Me reading Throne of Glass: oh this is cute! a little competition between assassins! aww the prince likes her!
Me two books later:
As someone who has seen The Princess Bride one too many times Sam saying “As you wish” to Celaena
in The Assassin and The Pirate Lord just killed me
“Celaena’s heart gave a lurch. Sam. He couldn’t be dead. Not from that dagger, or those dozen pirates, or from the catapult. No, Sam couldn’t be so stupid that he’d get himself killed. She’d … she’d … Well, she’d kill him if he was dead.”
- The Assassin’s Blade, Sarah J Maas
Don’t you love an oblivious child? Cuz I don’t
“Sam stared at her long enough for heat to flood her cheek, as if he could see right inside of her—see everything. The fact that he didn’t turn away from whatever he saw made her blood thrum in her veins.”
- The Assassin’s Blade, Sarah J Maas
I honestly don’t know who’s the most oblivious about their own feelings: Celaena, Simon, or Percy
“Some of the slaves even sketched invisible marks in the air, warding off whatever evil they thought she was.”
- The Assassin’s Blade, Sarah J Maas
Does this count as foreshadowing?
“Celaena?” Sam asked into the dark. “Should I worry about going to sleep?”
She blinked, then laughed under her breath. At least Sam took her threats somewhat seriously. She wished she could say the same for Rolfe. “No,” she said. “Not tonight.”
The Assassin and the Pirate Lord, Sarah J. Maas
Soooo…I decided to reread the series (again) but this is my first time reading the assassin’s blade (or any of the assassin novellas). I’m reading through this and this sentence sticks out…these are Ellywe slaves…where Nehemiah was from and Nehemiah knew about wyrdmarks…do you think the slaves knee about them too!?!!
