What's wrong with characters' ages.

Something I still don't fully understand.

Probably spoilers?

We remember that the characters are about 21-22 years old.

Since the series literally starts almost on Cheng Xiaoshi's birthday, I'm not entirely sure is he still 21, or already 22. Lu Guang is a separate problem, we won’t talk about that now.

We've known since season 1 that Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi met during they high school day. From the storyboards we know that Lu Guang was 16 years old (十六嵗) at that time.

Considering 12 years of education, they must have been around 17-18 by the time they graduated from high school and went to university.

They all entered the same university together for a bachelor's degree. Again, the undergraduate/bachelor degree lasts 4 years. Technically, they should be arout 21-22 years old. But!

They must have been 21-22 years old when they graduated from university, when the trio decided to run a photo studio while their friends, Xu Shanshan and Dong Yi, continued their education. And the s1 itself is the time when they graduated with master's degree. I hope it's obvious where I'm going with this.

So? It was said literally in the series itself. Another two years should have passed since Lu Guang, Qiao Ling and Cheng Xiaoshi graduated from the university - and in fact they should be older, like already about 24-25 years old, which does not correspond to the character concepts/intros at all. This still raises questions for me.

I know that there are errors in the ages of the supporting characters, given that the art book was recently released and the information on the concepts is different. But about this case - Xu Shanshan's age matches that of the trio, she is 22 years old, while Dong Yi is... Actually 25 🤔

I'm still not sure if this is a mistake, or if the age of their intros/concepts are actually misleading and refers to either a different period or different versions of the characters.

Which might be the case, since their intros (even before s1) don't quite match how we see the characters in actual donghua.

Completely different design for Cheng Xiaoshi', not like in s1 (don't forget about the ring he only got in s2). And he looks so depressing that something is definitely wrong with it.

Usually character intros give a basic and literal idea of them, while the image that the intros create is somewhat at odds with how we see them in s1 - considering that moments in s1 are depicted using photographic film, this is done on purpose, in my opinion.

Headcanons that I have of the gods in the Percy Jackson universe

Functional Apparel Objects Apparel objects are debug items and show up as “clothing pile” in the catalog (Misc > Dressers). They must be placed on one of the DEBUG displays/shelves or they’ll float. Denmark and cinnamon (and also pepper)

I know people say us northern countries don't use spices. But. Like. You guys need to know about Denmark and cinnamon. Because I checked on AO3, and Denmark has no fanfics about any of the following.

Denmark should be obsessed and a little addicted to cinnamon. For like. Reasons.

You all know cinnamon rolls, right? Not the character type, the actual pastry. Well, there's a Danish version of it.

Back in 2013, Danish bakeries were in some real danger, because the EU were starting to regulate coumarin, which in large doses (like really big) causes liver damage, and is found in cinnamon – especially the Chinese cinnamon type, which is the one found everywhere in Denmark. Including in our cinnamon rolls. In fact, the amounts in bakerybought cinnamon rolls exceeded the amount allowed by EU regulations – do note that regulations are different for seasonal food (classified as traditional), which is probably the only reason most of Danish Christmas cookies and risengrød stayed safe. Swedish cinnamon rolls were safe because they were classified as traditional in the beginning, because damn those Swedes. But. Instead of reducing the amount of cinnamon in the cinnamon rolls, the relevant organisations in Denmark went together to find a way to keep the cinnamon rolls full of cinnamon the way we like it. And in 2014, they managed to get the traditional classification, and our cinnamon rolls were safe to poison us! :D (honestly, don't worry, just like, don't eat 5 Danish cinnamon rolls every day and don't give kids a bunch of cinnamon to eat.)

But if you thought that's the only weird thing Denmark has with cinnamon, think again! We are VERY weird about cinnamon in DK!

So, in English, we refer to unmarried women (typically older) as spinsters if we're rude, and the male equivalent is bachelor, but that doesn't have the same negative implication. In Danish, we can be rude to men and women for being older and unmarried, we call them "pebermø" (pepper maiden) and "pebersvend" (pepper guy). The latter was actually used in regards to German spice traders in the 1500s who were not allowed to marry while travelling. But here comes the fun part. If you're not married when you turn 30, then you are officially a pepper maiden/pepper guy (clearly we need a nonbinary option). And that should be celebrated! How, you ask?

Well, there's a few different ways. The classic one is recieve a pepper grinder or food items containing pepper. That's if your friends are nice. 😈 If they're not nice, they might just pour a few kilograms of pepper on you. Hope you didn't put on any nice, white clothes, they're ruined now.

Now, in Jutland, some people thought waiting until your friends turned thirty was too long. What if they'd never get to give their friends any pepper? D: This had to be solved, so everyone could get spices thrown at them in wasteful amounts that would disgust even medieval royalty.

The solution? Cinnamon.

For your 25th birthday, if your friends love you, they give you a nice little cinnamon roll (I got that for mine). If they don't...........?

Remember the cinnamon challenge? It's a bit like that, except you don't have to eat it. Here's a picture from a webstore specialising in "gifts" for the unmarried 25 or 30 year old:

The Dragon Prince ASL

I'm sure someone has already done this, but I wanted to try my hand at interpreting the American Sign Language in the newest season of The Dragon Prince! Please note that I am not Deaf and only have a bachelor's in the language, so this is likely to be rough and if there are mistakes PLEASE let me know!! Please also let me know if I missed any scenes!

I'll transcribe each individual sign as best I can as well as the English language translation if one isn't provided and note anything I think is interesting!

Spoilers, of course!

Episode 1

7:20 - WHAT DO-DO HERE? UNDERSTAND NEED FOR-FOR SECRET GOAL BUT INFORM-ME TELL NOTHING ME?

8:05 - SOME THING NOT RIGHT. WE NOT ALONE.

13:50 - THEY ATTACK-ME.

14:50 - WHY (She mimics the whips usage for WIELD) FIRE WHIP?

15:10 - WHAT KIND CEREMONY?

15:28 - YOU... WILL YOU... WRESTLE ME?

(Adorable to note Janai almost gets it right! She starts to form the sign for marriage before second guessing herself and going with wrestle!)

15:50 - THAT AMAZING WOW

9:45 - I VERY-HAPPY TWO-OF-YOU! YOU WORLD- (camera cut)

10:06 - THANK-YOU. NOW YOU OFFICIAL MY (She indicates a height, then a smaller height for "younger", and adds a sign that makes me think she's emphasizing the "little" for comedic effect) BROTHER I- (camera cut)

22:30 - YOU-AND-I (I don't know the exact word for this sign but MOVING-FORWARD (as in time not physical space) would be my most literal guess!) FAST?

"Are we moving too fast?"

22:45 - THAT NOT MEANING I

"That's not what I mean..."

Episode 5

8:05 - YOU HURT? WHAT HAPPEN?

"Are you hurt? What happened?"

8:10 - I FINE. ARGUMENT INSIDE CAMP ABOUT OPEN FLAME. ARGUMENT HOT.

(Gren indicates the argument grew out of control by having the sign become more wild.)

(Camera angle makes it impossible to be sure but I think he says ONE HUMAN HURT while his back is turned.)

8:20 - WHO?

8:25 - HER NAME L-U-C-I-A. CHIEF ARCHITECT FROM K-A- (Camera pans away)

8:40 - (Camera pans back) NOW RIGHT?

17:00 - NO. THEY GUARD FOR CAREFUL.

(The sign for careful is used in such a way as to indicate care going forward in their situation.)

17:10 - PEOPLE UPSET ABOUT WHAT HAPPEN. ABOUT WHAT YOU DID.

17:45 - YOU STAY HERE. MAYBE NOT SAFE.

17:55 - QUEEN JANAI WILL DECIDE.

(Amaya uses a namesign for Janai as opposed to fingerspelling, and the sign in question is VERY interesting to me! It's a "J" on the upper chest, and while that could be for her status as queen, I like to think it's quite possible Amaya intended it to be over her heart <3.)

Episode 6

5:40 - I INTERRUPT SOME THING?

6:35 - FACE JUSTICE WHAT? BLOW-OUT-CANDLE? SHE ATTACK BURN.

(The physical nature of the injury is indicated by Amaya signing ATTACK to establish what happened and signing FIRE up her arms to mimic the burns.)

6:55 - FOR BLOW-OUT-CANDLE? TYPICAL APPLAUSE (She signs the hearing and DEAF equivalent of applause) BIRTHDAY CAKE SLICE EAT.

7:10 - TRIBUNAL? IF GUILTY WHAT HAPPEN?

7:15 - DEATH? JANAI CANNOT DO THAT.

10:35 - THEY SIX HORNS.

14:55 - I CAME HERE WHY? FOR DEFEND L-U-C-I-A. (Camera pans away then back) -CANNOT. SHE NOT INNOCENT. PRINCE K (Namesign for Karrim) CORRECT. (Camera pan) -OPPORITUNITY THINK PAIN CAUSE. SHE NOT. - Things in Ride The Cyclone I think about on the daily (SPOILERS!!!)

1. Jane’s head not being visible during the starting number “Karnak’s Dream of Life”

2. In “Fall Fair Suite” when everyone is looking down at Uranium City (from a place Im guessing is limbo) all of them smile or show some kind of joy or nostalgic feeling of sorts, all of them except for Mischa, since he didn’t grow up in Uranium City nor sees it the same way the rest of the choir see it

3. Jane’s Singing during “Fall Fair Suite”

4. Ocean confessing her discomfort before riding the cyclone, feeling rather unsafe (basically the fact she predicted her own doom)

5. The Choir’s catchphrases sort of predicting per say the member’s character development (Ex. Mischa’s catchphrase revealing his soft nature and vulnerability, Ocean’s catchphrase starting as a joke and ending up as her real perspective on things) or reveal something from their past life (Ex. 18. Constance playing the Role of Mischa’s mother (which made me create the headcanon that Constance in some way reminds Mischa of his Mother)

19. I haven’t mentioned it yet but I like that every member has a little moment to talk before their song (except for Jane if I remember correctly)

Hey Nonnie! This question has to be the most fun question I have ever received in my ask box. I have put too much thought into my list and the reasons why certain players would not be the recipient of my rose from night one to the final rose. So buckle up dashboard, you’re about to watch an entire season of my Bachelorette season in one post. Disclosure: I have not watched the Bachelor/Bachelorette in a very very long time. This is based on faded memories and quick google searches.

Meet the Contestants

Ross Colton - of Robinsville, NJ. Currently bottom six forward of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Anthony Cirelli - of Etobicoke, Ontario. Currently top six forward of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Brayden Point - of Calgary, Alberta. Currently top six forward of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Andrei Svechnikov - of Barnaul, Russia. Currently tops six forward of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Vince Dunn - Lindsay, Ontario. Currently one half of the top defensive pair of the Seattle Kraken.

The First Night

At the end of the first night, the 25 contestants would become 15, with 10 NHL hotties failing to receive my affection in the form of a rose:

Timo Meir - we know his reputation. This man is a womanizer, and it’s clear when he tried to go in for a kiss during our first conversation. But we’re here for love. For commitment. So he had to go.

Pierre-Luc Dubois - speaking of commitment. This man doesn’t know the definition of that. He can’t commit to a team, he can’t commit to me. Au revoir.

Leon Draisaitl - this man is so intimidating to me. I wouldn’t have the confidence to pursue anything of any nature.

Pat Maroon - his energy would be too much for me. Confident, successful, and ready to party. I wouldn’t be able to keep up.

Luke Scheen - is a sweet guy, but wouldn’t do much to set himself apart from the rest.

Josh Anderson - would have flashed his abs at least once during the night - and I would have noticed but it wouldn't be enough to set him apart from the rest of the guys who go the extra mile to set themselves apart.

Nico Hischier - a sweet guy. Very gentlemanly. But he’s a little young for me so he doesn’t receive a rose.

Auston Matthews - Auston would come in so confident he would come off as cocky. Would brag about his friendship with Justin Beiber and would come dressed in an expensive sweatsuit instead of a suit like the other contestant. Would not be a vibe.

Brendan Lemieux - during the first night. Brendan Lemieux and Matthew Tkachuk got into a physical altercation regarding the biting incident with Brady Tkachuk. Production wanted to kick them both off the show, but instead, they were allowed to stay until the end of the night where Tkachuk was the only one of the two to receive the rose.

Pytor Kochetkov - my sweet sweet Pytor. He would have needed Svechnikov to translate for him all night. So kind and sweet, but the language barrier was strong and Svechnikov would have needed to be a constant third wheel to make it work - plus he’s kind I can’t decide if he is baby brother vibes or not. He would not receive the final rose of the evening.

Season Highlights

Andrei Svechnikov secured the first kiss on the first night with his charm, maturity and his kindness in helping Pytor through the night when he could have been selfish

Andrei also received the first rose of the season before the first rose ceremony was held

Vince Dunn would be a quick fan favorite but not without controversy - there would be a call to action from fans that wanted him to be sent home but he would remain on the show after making a public apology at the rose ceremony

Anthony Beauvillier and Mat Barzal would go on a 2 on 1 date with me, some kind of outdoorsy thing with paddleboarding and it would have been a great time BUT they would both go home that same night after Beauvillier refuses the rose on the date. Their friendship ultimately gets in the way of their pursuit of love

Ross Colton would fail to receive a rose after a group date that involved an extensive hike in the wilderness

Tkachuk would continue to be an instigator for the season starting conflicts and pushing the buttons of other contenders. It would lead to Tom Wilson and Matt Martin not receiving roses but he would be the one not to receive a rose when a conflict with Lowry would arise. Lowry would receive the final rose that night, sending Tkachuk home.

Chris Kreider would try to propose midseason and his eagerness and willingness to commit so early would be a red flag, he would not receive a rose at the following ceremony

After regret and complications, Ross Colton would be welcomed back onto the show as I would feel like failing to give him a rose was a mistake

With the welcoming back of Ross to the show, William Nylander would be sent home as a result

On a 1 on 1 date with Brady Skeji things would look to become more intimate than it actually was and viewers would be shocked when he would not receive a rose later than night

During what would be the rose ceremony that would bring it down to the final 4 it is revealed that it would be a final 5 with only 7 contenders remaining: Ross Colton, Anthony Cirelli, Adam Lowry, Andrei Svechnikov, Brayden Point, Jeremy Swayman and Vince Dunn

Viewers would be shocked when Anthony Cirelli would receive the final rose before the final four over Brayden Point who had been a front-runner for your heart since night one

The Final Five

Usually the final four, but would be changed last minute as I struggled to make the decision, it would be time to travel and meet the families of the final 5 contestants.

Ross Colton - the trip would take me to New Jersey where I would meet his parents and his brother Rob. They would be welcoming, and kind, but it would be very clear how many worlds apart we are and it would plant some insecurities of just how well I would be able to fit into their lifestyle and expectations.

Anthony Cirelli - back in Canada, I would meet his family, and very importantly Grandma Cirelli who is known for her tomato sauce. We would cook a meal together in their family kitchen - and she would approve of my cooking.

Vince Dunn - A mere hour away from where we visited Tony’s family, I would meet Dunn’s. It’s a smaller city and feels familiar to what I’ve grown up in BUT everyone seems to know him there. It’s weird being there with a local celebrity because there is no just blending into a big city here. His family would be as kind and welcoming as the others, and I’d get to see more of his emotional side that we would have seen glimmer off throughout the season.

Adam Lowry - in Calgary we would meet his family, a very strong hockey family, with his dad having played and coached and his brother having played as well. It’s their lives, and will always be a part of it. We would see just how good he is with his nieces and nephews and go to see the mountains in Banff.

Andrei Svechnikov - the final trip would take me to Russia where I would meet his parents, his brother and his brother’s family. It would be a breathtaking trip, one like any other seen on the show but it would be conflicting as his mother would show her concerns. I would not be what his mother imagined for her sweet boy, and her approval is very important to him. And the larger age gap would be revisited.

After the trips, it would come to the rose ceremony that would bring the final 5 down to the final two. That night, Andrei would fail to receive a rose, the age gap and the pressure of his mother being too much. Ross, while an obvious favourite for the majority of the season would not receive a rose, the high maintenance feel of his family too much and too intimidating to commit to at that moment - and the goodbye is one not without tears. The viewers would be shocked again when Tony would receive the final rose, sending Lowry back to the off-season. His familiar pressure of their legacy all too much even though seeing him with his nephews would given me absolute baby fever.

Then only two remained: Anthony Cirelli and Vince Dunn.

The Final Rose

The final rose would be one of great controversy with lots of viewers seeming to think I was making a mistake moving forward with my final two. That I had greater chemistry with other players that I had sent walking and that whoever I chose would be a decision made in regret. But I was left to make the choice between the two final contenders. Anthony Cirelli. The sweet, respectable boy from Vaughn. Who maybe wasn’t as traditionally handsome as the other contestants - but I’m a sucker for those curls. Who loves Kygo and partying in Miami but will always value his family and their traditions above all else.

And then there was Vince. The mildly problematic, handsome man - who also has those oh-so-dangerous curls and those bright eyes. He can be wild, but also sweet - and always so intense with emotions that you can see so clearly written across his face. A man who can enjoy the outdoors as much as a night at the club.

And while Tony and Ross both very clearly have a piece of my heart I need a man who is going to be able to go out there and enjoy nature with me. Someone who won’t care that I don’t spend an hour in front of the mirror to do my hair and my makeup every day. Someone who will love my cooking, and isn’t afraid of his emotions or to have tough conversations.

And for those reasons, I would have to give my final rose to… Vince.

For me it’s very similar to the other anon. I’m turning 25 this year and I’ve still not got my bachelors degree because I had to quit my first go around at uni since i physically couldn’t learn for my exams. Granted it was compounded by other issues such as depression and anxiety but i genuinely believe that a not insignificant part of those issues come from the fact that adhd makes it near impossible to organise myself (unmedicated btw).

Seeing this on my feed rn is kind of ironic since even though im in my third year of a degree that I actually enjoy now, I literally dropped out of an exam that I was supposed to write today cuz I couldn’t revise. It’s not like I didn’t have the time and I’ve known for weeks about the deadline, but with every assignment or exam I push my own boundaries further and further back until I can’t do it anymore. Last semester I crammed 84 pages worth of notes in under 48h, an exam mind you that I’d pushed back over a year and was literally my last shot or I’d not be allowed to continue with my studies. I barely slept, I was throwing up, but I somehow passed, and with a good grade at that. Since then my brain is like, well you managed to do that that one time so you can totally afford to wait until the DAY before an exam to finish it. Or write a 15 page paper in a day.

And you know what, maybe I can. But the problem is the cost. It’s killing me. I find that it’s also very isolating cuz generally people don’t have a lot of empathy for this? So I end up pulling back from everyone including my best friends until I’m at a point again where I can be around people without letting on how incredibly bad I’m doing. Or I just straight up lie so they don’t know that I’ve not done the things i said I would do.

And all this is not just within the framework of academia. It’s also impacted my wellbeing in a more general sense - cooking for myself is hard because I tend to not listen to my body’s cues until I’m on the verge of passing out cuz i forgot to eat or drink, or by the time I’m hungry I still have to make a meal so I end up ordering something cuz it’s faster. Same with showering daily or brushing your teeth. Getting any routine started in general and sticking with it. I’ve been meaning to start exercising again but I keep delaying it for no reason. I’ve worked out regularly in the past so I know it’s something that I enjoy and that makes me feel good but despite that I’m still stuck in this place of inertia? It’s awful.

I’ve talked to some friends who also have adhd about it and the inability to start something cuz it isn’t instantly gratifying or that doesn’t align with an interest but is an obligation is quite common. Can I binge 7 seasons of a reality show in a week if it really interests me? Hell yeah! (I do watch everything at 2x speed cuz everyone talks too slow lmao but still). Will i fly through a massive book and literally forego sleeping if it means getting through more of it if im really invested? Absolutely. 1500 puzzle? Massive Lego set? Yep! Taking notes from a textbook for an assignment? Literally kill me right now.

I’m sorry for this long ass message and idek if you’re gonna read all of this but yeah just wanted to share my experience. Adhd is absolutely not quirky or a superpower and I wish there was a better understanding of it out there because it makes me my own worst enemy every day.

Ugh anon i feel you so much. I have skipped on many an exam during my bachelors because i just couldn't concentrate, focus or start revision. It's completely miserable to literally see the time go by where you feel the stress but you just cannot get your brain to start on what you need to do.

Any time i told teachers and now colleagues that i work well with deadlines i get told i'm not motivated enough because if i was i wouldn't need deadlines. That's just so unfair! My brain is graving dopamine, it's not laziness that my brain does this, it's literally just ADHD.

This is the same reason why your brain (usually) jumps into action when that crippling anxiety hits, because you're so close to a deadline that your brain can smell the dopamine.

The only reason that i finished my 6 month thesis is because i had many mini deadlines during those 6 months. I felt the anxiety to finish a part of it every month and i had a teacher who was very nice and gave you compliments when you did (DOPAMINE). If i didn't have that i would still be writing my thesis now.

ADHD is so misunderstood by so many people. It affects every part of your life and the negative consequences are so much bigger and impactful than the potential positive outcomes. I mean yeah i'm creative and can think fast, awesome but that doesn't make up for the anxiety, stress and grief you go through anytime your brain just doesn't want to start something.
