Between Buzzer Beaters and Love Letters
Tumblr media
Characters: Akashi Seijuro x Reader Synopsis: Love is like a perfectly executed buzzer beater, defying the odds and capturing hearts in the most unexpected moments. It's a love letter penned with the ink of the soul, expressing emotions that words alone can't convey. Between buzzer beaters and love letters, our hearts dance to the rhythm of affection, reminding us that love is a game worth playing and a story worth writing.
A/N: believe me when i say that i daydream about this back in college lol so many reactors on youtube are watching knb, so my sparks for the show returned at full power. enjoy!
-
In the aftermath of Seirin's victory at the Winter Cup finals, the basketball court buzzed with electric energy. The crowd erupted into cheers, players embraced in jubilation, and the air was thick with the sweet scent of success. Amidst the celebration, you, the team manager, found yourself caught up in the euphoria, standing at the center of it all.
Kuroko and Kagami, the dynamic duo who had spearheaded Seirin's triumph, were beaming with pride and exhilaration. Their radiant smiles mirrored the joyous atmosphere, infectious and impossible to resist. You couldn't help but join in, a surge of elation filling your heart as you hugged them tightly.
"We did it! We actually did it!" you exclaimed, unable to contain your excitement. "All our hard work paid off!"
Kuroko, ever composed, nodded with a small smile. "Yes, we gave it our all, and it paid off in the end."
Kagami, his adrenaline still coursing through his veins, laughed boisterously. "Hell yeah! We're the champions!"
Amidst the cheers and laughter, the bond between the three of you grew stronger. As the victory sank in, you realized just how much this team meant to you. They were more than just teammates; they were your friends and family. Together, you had overcome countless challenges and now stood at the pinnacle of high school basketball.
The court became a stage for shared stories, memories, and dreams. The euphoria of the moment seeped into every word, every smile, and every embrace. This was a time to savor the taste of victory and to revel in the camaraderie that had brought you all together.
Little did you know, this was only the beginning of a new chapter. The Winter Cup victory had opened doors to new challenges, new adventures, and perhaps even unexpected feelings.
As the celebration roared on, your eyes were drawn to Akashi Seijuro, standing alone in the midst of the jubilant chaos. His usually confident demeanor was replaced with an unfamiliar expression of shock and disbelief. It was evident that losing was a foreign concept to him, and the weight of defeat hung heavily on his shoulders.
Excusing yourself from the group, you made your way towards Akashi, curiosity burning in your chest. Kagami and Kuroko exchanged puzzled glances, unable to comprehend your sudden interest in someone you had previously shown distaste for. Kuroko, however, sensing the hidden emotions within you, offered a nod of encouragement, silently conveying his support.
Approaching Akashi, you could see the surprise flicker in his eyes as he noticed your presence. He seemed taken aback by your approach, not expecting anyone to reach out to him in this vulnerable moment.
"Congratulations on a well-fought match, Akashi," you said, offering a gentle smile.
Akashi's eyes met yours, searching for any hint of mockery or ill intent. Instead, he found sincerity and understanding, something he didn't anticipate. "Thank you," he replied, his voice carrying a mix of disbelief and resignation.
"I know this might be hard for you," you continued, your voice filled with empathy. "You've always been accustomed to winning. But it's in these moments of defeat that we grow the most."
Akashi's guard slowly lowered, realizing that you were not there to belittle him but rather to offer solace. "It's a bitter pill to swallow," he admitted, his voice tinged with a hint of vulnerability.
You nodded in understanding. "Sometimes, the greatest lessons come from our losses. It's an opportunity to reflect, to reassess our strengths and weaknesses, and to come back even stronger."
A moment of silence enveloped the two of you as the weight of the conversation sank in. It was a rare connection, borne out of unexpected circumstances, where walls were momentarily lowered, allowing for a genuine exchange.
Akashi's voice broke the silence. "You're right. This loss... it will serve as a reminder to keep pushing forward and to strive for greatness."
A soft smile played on your lips as you gazed at him. "After watching you play today and even during this whole tournament, I have no doubt you can bounce back."
Akashi's eyes met yours, a glimmer of gratitude shining through. "Thank you," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
As your conversation neared its end, you couldn't help but notice Akashi's captivating presence. The way his eyes held a depth that drew you in and the subtle curve of his lips that seemed to carry untold stories. In that moment, a realization washed over you, causing a soft blush to creep onto your cheeks.
The conversation concluded with an awkward silence settling between you. On the sidelines, Kagami and Kuroko discreetly observed, their curiosity piqued by the unexpected interaction. They exchanged glances, silently speculating on the nature of your conversation with Akashi.
The rest of the Seirin basketball team watched in awe; a mixture of surprise and curiosity danced in their eyes. They had witnessed the birth of an unlikely bond between their team manager and the enigmatic captain of the Generation of Miracles, unaware of the journey that awaited them both.
As the awkward silence lingered, you mustered up the courage to look at Akashi, your heart pounding in your chest. Biting your lip nervously, you felt a mix of nervousness and eagerness. Just as Akashi was about to excuse himself, you couldn't resist but call out to him again, your voice laced with a coy and flirty tone.
"Hey, Akashi," you said, your eyes locked with his. "I don't know when you're going to visit Tokyo again, but if you happen to drop by, maybe you should let me know. We could hang out or something. If you're free, of course."
Akashi's eyes widened in surprise, caught off guard by your boldness. However, his shock gradually dissipated, and a charming aura replaced his initial bashfulness. A dashing smile adorned his face as he gladly accepted your offer.
"I would be delighted," he replied, his voice carrying a hint of amusement. "Perhaps you could share your number, and we can make the necessary arrangements."
Your heart skipped a beat as Akashi asked for your number. With a shy smile, you exchanged contact information, the anticipation growing between you.
"I must admit," Akashi began, a playful glint in his eyes, "losing the game was a disappointment. However, stumbling upon someone as captivating as you, y/n, can certainly be counted as a delightful victory in its own right."
His words were laced with a charming jest, acknowledging the irony of the situation. A smile tugged at the corners of his lips, a subtle invitation to partake in the playful banter.
The comment caught you off guard, and a hint of blush painted your cheeks. His flirtatious demeanor was as unexpected as it was enchanting. Unable to resist the opportunity for a quick retort, you playfully responded, "Remember to thank your gods then."
With a gentle smile, Akashi's gaze met yours, a twinkle of amusement in his eyes. The unspoken understanding between you deepened, as if hinting at a future where the boundaries of competition and camaraderie blurred. The unexpected turn of events had created a unique connection, and the prospect of getting to know Akashi on a deeper level thrilled you.
After a few more exchanges of words, the conversation began to naturally wind down. Akashi excused himself, his attention being required by his coach. With a polite smile, he bids you farewell, leaving you momentarily stunned by the encounter.
As he walked away, his back straight and confident, you couldn't help but watch him with a mix of fascination and curiosity. The brief exchange had left an indelible mark, and you couldn't help but wonder what the future held for the two of you.
With a lingering smile on your face, you rejoined your friends, who were eagerly awaiting your return. Their eyes were wide with surprise, and their expressions were a mixture of shock, amusement, and curiosity. The moment they had witnessed between you and Akashi Seijuro had left quite an impression.
Kuroko, ever the calm and observant one, simply offered a small smile, his eyes twinkling with silent approval. "I didn't expect that, but it seems like you two had an interesting conversation," he commented softly.
Kagami, on the other hand, couldn't hide his astonishment. His jaw dropped, and he stared at you with a mix of disbelief and a touch of jealousy. "What the... Really, y/n? Akashi? When did this happen?" he blurted out, unable to contain his reaction.
Hyuga, the captain of the team, chuckled heartily, clapping you on the back. "Well, I'll be damned, y/n. I didn't know you had it in you to approach Akashi like that. I almost feel guilty for defeating your boyfriend."
Izuki, always one for wordplay, grinned mischievously. "Looks like you're taking 'shoot your shot' quite literally, y/n. I can't help but be impressed."
Kyoshi, the team's supportive and gentle player, chimed in with a warm smile. "That was brave of you, y/n."
As you were engrossed in the lively conversation with your teammates, you felt a gaze fixed on you. Instinctively, you turned your head, locking eyes with Akashi. His intense gaze met yours, and a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
Sensing the shift in the atmosphere, the Seirin team exploded in a chorus of exaggerated reactions. Some whistled playfully, while others nudged each other with raised eyebrows and knowing grins. Kagami, in particular, seemed ready to explode with a mix of disbelief and astonishment. You can even hear him mumble things like, "I didn't know you had a thing for psychopaths."
Riko finally chimed in amidst the commotion. "Alright, alright, settle down! Stop teasing y/n! We have to prepare for the award ceremony."
Amidst the playful banter and cheers from your teammates, you couldn't help but feel a surge of exhilaration. It was as if a new chapter had unfolded before your eyes, filled with possibilities and unspoken promises.
With a final glance back at your boisterous friends, you turned your attention fully to Akashi. And as you exchanged smiles, a mix of excitement and anticipation coursed through your veins.
The story between you and Akashi Seijuro was only just beginning, and with each passing moment, you were ready to discover what the future held.

You felt incredibly dumb. The whole incident that landed you in the hospital at this very moment was embarrassing. And it's all because of your habit of playing otome games.
Typically, they're harmless, but the one you're currently immersed in forces you to stay up at odd hours or forego sleep to ensure you don't miss anything important.
The issue is that you rely heavily on sleep. When you told people that your favorite thing to do was sleep, it wasn't a lie. If you don't get enough sleep, you experience phantom pains and anxiety spikes, which creates a messy situation.
But this time, it was a completely different story. Your unfortunate sleep deprivation caused you to stumble and tumble down a staircase while heading to the gym for your manager responsibilities.
Yes, you know, sounds fucking crazy right?!
The flight of stairs wasn't particularly long, thankfully. However, the gash on your head had everyone in the vicinity fretting over you like mother hens, to the point where you were embarrassingly transported away by an ambulance instead of heading to the infirmary.
You felt it was your responsibility to inform the coach, right? While you anticipated her to relay the message to the team, you weren't prepared for their intense reaction, leading them to rush to the hospital right after finishing practice.
Squeezing a group of grown men into a hospital room as small as yours was both comical and a bit of a challenge, but they managed it, crowding together just to receive an update on your condition. They could have simply sent a text, but it was genuinely thoughtful of them to come in person.
You flinch slightly as a small pink teddy bear lands in your lap. The person responsible is Midorima, who, as always, appears annoyed. You get the sense it's because of you, and his next words only confirm your suspicion.
"If you had your lucky item, none of this would be happening, nanodayo," he scolds you, his tone grumbling as he adds, "Why do I have to keep reminding everyone?"
A hand firmly grabs Midorima's shoulder and gently moves him aside, revealing Takao, who's beaming at you and pointing at himself. "I helped pick it out—and paid for it," he says, his voice trailing off into a mumble as he side-eyes Midorima.
Then, he resumes with an upbeat tone, "Midorima was going to get you something ugly. I thought it should be something cute for someone as cute as you, yeah?"
His words and the meticulous attention he and even Midorima, who isn't known for caring about others to this extent, had put into their actions make your face flush withwarmth.
"Thanks, to both of you. I really appreciate it," you exclaim while cradling the gift. "You're both so thoughtful. But honestly, my fall wasn't bad luck; it was my own fault, and it's a bit embarrassing so I’m not saying why," you add quickly, cutting off the boys who were about to ask for details.
"I could have found you a better one of those, you know," One of them asserts, capturing everyone's attention and sparking a playful debate about who could give the best plushy.
A few minutes into it, your mind begins to wander, and your gaze fixates on Takao. His words continue to echo in your head as you observe his interactions with the others.
Could ‘something cute for someone cute' mean something deeper?’ you wonder, but you're careful not to let your thoughts run too far ahead. You're hesitant to go down that path once more with another crush.
While you're lost in thought, trying to talk yourself down from your inner turmoil to prevent spoiling the wholesome moment for everyone, you fail to notice Takao turning towards you because he's noticed your sudden silence.
He blinks owlishly when he notices you're already looking at him, even though you don't appear entirely present. A smile etches onto his face as he finds your absentminded expression cute.
The moment you do notice him, a wave of panic washes over you, leaving your mouth dry and your face flushed with heat that extends to the rest of your body. Your gaze quickly shifts to the heart monitor beside you as its beeping starts to intensify, adding to the embarrassment of being caught staring.
The sound grabs the attention of those around you, prompting concern and a touch of panic. Questions like, "What's happening? (Surname)-chan, are you okay?" are rapidly fired your way. Among the group of players, Takao's smile persists and even grows as the scene escalates when one of them suggests getting a nurse.
"No!" you blurt out, almost wishing the bed could swallow you up, leaving you to wither away. "I'm fine. There's no need for that."
"But your heart rate is—"
You cut them off, saying, "It's normal. I'm not dying." They should drop it, for your sake and your pride.
Takao looks smug now, mischief dancing in his eyes as he takes your words and uses them against you. "She's not dying; she just feels like it right now, isn't that right, (Surname)-chan?" he teases.
You avert your gaze, attempting to conceal your face as Midorima steps up and asks, "Are you being dramatic?" He arches an eyebrow, displaying his lack of amusement.
"My feelings aren't dramatic!" you argue, shooting him a glare, feeling deeply offended. It's the most irritating thing you've ever heard; your emotions deserve more validation than that.
Takao abruptly stops smiling, his mouth agape, "Feelings?!" A blush spreads across his face, "Feeling feelings?" He looks at you expectantly, and you can't bring yourself to meet his gaze, especially with everyone's attention now focused on you.
"What's happening..." one of the teammates asks, echoing the confusion of everyone else as they watch the scene unfold.
"What's going on?!" a masculine voice exclaims from behind the group, and you've never been so relieved to see a hospital staff member in your life. The nurse raises an eyebrow as he enters the room, stating firmly, "You all cannot be in here. Who gave permission for this?"
Half of the boys stand tongue-tied, and the other half fumble to come up with an excuse. They fail to provide a reasonable explanation, and the nurse sternly tells them to leave, ignoring their protests.
Takao stays behind, the last to leave. He takes a moment to approach you, covering his mouth with a hand as he says, "I'll text you... we should talk about ‘your feelings’ more." He ends with a snicker before finally leaving, being dragged away by the nurse. Midorima's scolding voice becomes audible as soon as they exit the room.

Could you please do some head canons for pro player! Nash X single mom! Reader (Nash is in his early 30s and reader is slightly younger and has s toddler)?
pro!nash has been used to having 100% of his s/o’s attention in previous relations - relationships where the girl drops everything when he calls - so dating a single mum is a bit of a culture shock to say the least
but he’s not a particularly jealous sort, especially not when the ‘opponent’ is a 2 year old, and he likes dating someone who has their own life and responsibilities and isn’t always clinging to him
the only problem is that it’s hard finding time to meet up
he’s either practicing or travelling to matches, and you’ve not got much time spare between your work and your kid
during match season in particular, a lot of the relationship is just texts and late night facetimes, sending you flowers and chocolates, and getting you tickets to local matches so the two of you can spend some time together at last
he’s a big fan of surprise visits as well
mostly at your doorstep, but, one time, he decides he’s going to ramp up the surprise element x10, and picks your kid up from nursery
between your kid’s face lighting up when they see nash, and nash turning his charms on the nursery staff, it’s no wonder that they let him take the kid
but, naturally, you freak out when you arrive at the nursery and find out that a man who claimed to know you has already picked the child up
you don’t talk to nash for a day, and nash says he’ll pay for the best nursery around, because the current one’s security clearly sucks
in general, nash does a lot of paying for the kid
he may not like children much, but this one’s ‘his’ and it’s not like he’s got anything better to pay for
so nice clothes, top schools, daytrips: that’s nash’s card footing the bill
(sidenote: nash is 100% the kind of person to have experienced how damaging it is for children to attend highly competitive schools, and yet he’ll still pay for the kid to do the same)
and, of course, he can’t send the kid nice presents without buying you something nice to wear or read too
anyway, back to the child
nash may not be the kind of person who warms to children - he doesn’t find anything particularly interesting about their babble, and he doesn’t care about first steps - but he’s still good with them
and he’s particularly good with yours
naturally, the kid has a phase of wanting to be like his dad when he’s older, so poor nash patientially puts up with hours of teaching this kid how to play basketball
thanks to the belial eye, and societal restrictions on using streetball moves on literal 2 year olds, this basketball training is ridiculously boring for nash
but he still puts up with it :’)
in contrast, the kid worships the ground nash walks on and tells everyone his dad’s a magician because he can make the ball disappear when dribbling
it’s a trick that never fails to amuse the kid, even when he’s in the middle of a tantrum
yeah nash tries to be a good dad, especially during the off-season, to make up for the amount of time he spends away
anyway, final note
nash makes sure to keep the relationship very private
after all, he’s got a brand and “nash gold jr, the suave player who can be a right dick on the court” is not synonymous with “dating a single mum”
it’s not that he’s ashamed of you
he just doesn’t want you or the kid getting harassed by the media, or being tainted by association
and he likes having your home as a safe space where he’s free from being nash gold jr, pro basketballer
where he can just be nash, lover and dad

- ♡︎ YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I'D DO FOR YOU
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-cw: angst, character death, suicide mentions, hurt no comfort.
-aomine x reader
-a/n: to be honest, i don't think this is really sad at all.
Tumblr media
Dear Aomine,
Hi love, I've written this message for you, maybe you've noticed my tears and I know you won't miss the spots but it's still a bit sad, right? Love, it isn't your fault okay? I love you very much by all means. You did everything in your power to make me feel loved. You're my home, my warm fresh breath of air, you're the sun and light in my life. I'm grateful for you, words can't describe the feeling I get when you kiss me. Or the euphoria of butterflies when you tell me that you love me. You may be stubborn sometimes and very tempered and hot headed but you're still my Aomine. My one and only love, the only person who didn't use me for my body. The only person who didn't use me to gain advantages or privileges. The person who only willingly loved me, the person who- even in my darkest times, you were the light at the end of the tunnel. My only motivation in life and my greatest love. My greatest love, who despite having this bad boy and playboy aura, loved me so endearingly and preciously. The person who became the definition of love, the person who became home to me. We weren't perfect at all, and we both know but our love was stronger. We fight, like normal couples do but the moment you hug my waist in the middle of the night and say goodnight and I'm sorry had me coming back to you. It saddens me that I've come to terms to write this letter for you, for I know that I won't be with you the moment I wake up, and I'm sorry for my selfishness. I'm also sorry for the pain I've brought but I'm just so tired. I know you're tired too, but you're much stronger than me. You are the definition of bravery and strength in my vocabulary book, the bravest guy I've dated and loved. I love you too soooo much baby, my words are running out on how to describe it for you. You are my first greatest love and you will be my last. I love you forever my beloved Daiki. I will continue to be in your heart forever. Love you.
-sincerely, [name]
And dang, did it hurt. You were gone. Gone from his grasp, gone from his hold forever. Aomine will surely miss your tender smiles only reserved for him, or the way you also sent a euphoria of butterflies in his stomach. He won't hear your i love you's forever, for you have decided to end your life. And you were gone. Gone, gone, gone. Gone from his touch. Gone from this world. You were his only source of happiness here, not even basketball can satisfy it. It was you all along who he loved. The everlasting love he had for you. As Aomine closed your letter, he closed his eyes and his arms over his eyes. To outsiders, it may seem like he's just sleeping but if you look closely you could see the silent tears there. For he had lost you. His one and only greatest love. You don't know what he'd do for you. His one and only.

Hi! I'm so glad to see your open askbox! I'd like to request a headcanon for KnB! How would GOM + Kagami react when their s/o walk in on them taking a shower naked and just casually invite themselves taking a shower with the boys? Thank you for taking my request and I hope you have a great week!
GoM + Kagami - s/o shower time
Akashi
Akashi sighed as the warm water hit his body. His shoulder relaxing in one of the few moments he had to himself. He wanted to get a quick shower before he went to go meet his father for dinner. Their monthly ritual now that he had moved out of the house.
He had just turned around to rinse his back went he heard one of the glass double doors open and [Y/N] standing there. “Mind if I join you?”
They must have known that he was tense about meeting his father; not hard to guess as he usually was. They had tried to be cheerful when he got home. Tried to be supportive. Tried to give him some space. Finally, when none of that seemed to work, they seemed to be going with base physical pleasure as a distraction.
“Of course. You’re always welcome my love.”
They smile and step into the double headed shower with Akashi. Then quickly into his arms. He was certainly more relaxed than usual meeting his father today. Maybe a ‘hot shower’ was called for every month now.
Aomine
‘Shit!’ Aomine cursed to himself as he jumped into his cold shower and instantly started soaping down.
Why did he always have to play Russian roulette with his alarm? He always had to push it too close for those extra few minutes and then here they were. Late. Too late to even let his shower heat up and try to keep the soap out of his eyes.
“Mind if I join you?”
Aomine looked up and over his shoulder to his s/o standing there. Nothing on but their smile. His morning wood that was coming down from the cold shower up to full mast again.
“Sure.” He replied with an equal grin before he pulled them into the shower. Hell he was already late. No point in rushing now.
Kise
Kise hummed to the music still playing in his head from the photoshoot. Still buzzing from all the energy.
It was different than when he played basketball, but still got him hyped. Everyone running around. The intensity to get the perfect shot. Quick changes for costumes. It was all a blur sometimes, but he must have done a good job because the photo director thanked him for his hard work.
He had just gotten home and wanted to take a quick shower before bed. Making sure to get the last of the makeup and hair products off before he slipped into clean sheets.
He was just about to step in when he heard the door open and turned around. “Mind if I join?” [Y/N] asked with a cheeky grin. Apparently having waited up for him, unlike he imagined.
“Sure!” Kise replied enthusiastically before moving aside to let them in first. “I missed you.” He told them once they were both under the water. Kissing them sweetly as rivulets trickled down their bodies.
Kuroko
It was usually pretty easy for Kuroko to sneak out of the bed and into the shower. Given that his presence was low, as long as he and s/o weren’t actively spooning or snuggled up Kuroko could slip out without waking them.
He had just finished up showering when he heard the door open and [Y/N] ask, “mind if I join you?” just as he was turning off the water.
They seemed a little crestfallen that they had missed their chance, so Kuroko reached behind him and turned the water back on. “I think I missed a spot. Wanna help me get it?”
Midorima
5:15 – wake up. morning ablutions.
5:45 – jog
6:30 – rehydrate and start coffee for the morning
6:45 - shower
Midorima had a very set way he liked to get ready for the morning. Following a routine led to increased performance through practice. A mentality he had always had about nearly all aspects of his life.
He was just about to wash his hair, at precisely 6:50 like usual, when he heard the bathroom door open. He knew it had to be [Y/N]. No one else was in the apartment. It wasn’t unheard of that they would be up at this time and was not usually a disturbance to his schedule, so it didn’t bother him. Usually.
“Mind if I join you?”
Midorima wiped around when he heard their voice in the shower. Naked, he assumed. He didn’t have his glasses on so it was hard to see. But the implication was quite clear.
“I uh…I have to get breakfast started.”
His logic didn’t seem to stop them, however, as they still invited themselves into his shower with some pretense about efficiency and better use of time, and all that. He didn’t argue, but it was certainly a disruption to his schedule.
Murasakibara
The alarm by his bed chirped cheerfully to the sound of his current favorite anime, before Murasakibara’s fist came down and pounded it into silence.
He wasn’t a morning person. He was barely a daytime at all kind of person. Kuro-chin had suggested using a song that sparked happy memories to wake up to as a way to be more excited about getting up, but, of course, it had failed.
Sitting up with a big, bear of a yawn, Murasakibara got out of bed and shuffled to the bathroom to get ready. He brushed his teeth while he waited for the shower to heat up, and debated about going back to bed. Stepping into the shower he stood under the water motionless for a while before he heard the curtain pull back.
“Mind if I join you?”
His normal, dull expression perked up as he saw [Y/N]-chin standing there. Suddenly not so sleepy anymore. “Sure.” Murasakibara tried to move and make space for them with his large frame. Hard to manage but they made it work.
This was a much better way to wake up in the morning. He’d have to tell Kuro-chin that this was a much better plan than stupid alarms.
+Kagami
“I’m gonna take a shower.” Kagami announced as he and s/o finished up their movie for the night and prepared for bed.
He’d always taken a shower before bed, even before coming to Japan. It was hit or miss in the states on if people did or didn’t, and maybe it was his parents Japanese background that led to their custom in their house, but he always did it. It just made sense to him. Getting all the germs & dirt of the day off. Kagami was sort of a neat freak on the inside, cultivated from having to keep his own place clean for years.
Halfway through his shower, Kagami looked up when he heard the door open. Thinking he would see [Y/N] in their pjs getting ready to brush their teeth for bed through the glass, but instead seeing them naked.
“Mind if I join you?”
Kagami could feel his face flush from more than just the hot water. His hands instinctively moving to cover himself, despite the half frosted modest glass already in place. Feeling very exposed. “I uh…I…”
[Y/N] seemed to take his hesitation as a time to be bold and opened the door. They had been together for a while, and had been intimate, just not in the shower. It was a secret fantasy that everyone had, that his mind was having trouble processing on was actually about to come true.
“Are you sure this is safe? I don’t want you to slip and crack your head open.”

I was playing Sky: Children of the Light recently and thought about the Teiko gang + Kagami playing it together
Before I start with my headcanons, I'm sure some of y'all don't know what Sky: Children of the Light is, so I'll explain briefly.
Sky is a social adventure game where you play as a child from the now-desolate Sky Kingdom. Through exploring the seven realms of this kingdom, you restore the light back to the remaining spirits while unraveling the lore of the kingdom and figuring out what happened to it and where all the people went. You can play this game solo if you want to, but it's best played with friends. You can also play with up to eight friends on one server, and the Teiko gang + Kagami is exactly eight people, which works out perfectly! So this post will be me talking about the type of players I think all of them would be on Sky and what type of hijinks I think they'd get into if they decided to play on the same server. The rest will be under the cut. Enjoy!
KUROKO
Tumblr media
Very diligent about playing Sky on a regular basis but doesn't play super long sessions unless he's playing with other people. Totally fine with playing by himself since he likes to wander the maps and find quiet secluded places to sit.
But sometimes he also "people watches" in the game and categorizes people based on how they play Sky. Ever since he started people-watching for basketball, it translates into pretty much everything he does, so social video games are no exception.
But when he's taking a break from solitude, he's helping moths (a term of endearment for newbies in Sky) navigate their way through the game and complete quests. There are probably a few he befriends and sees from time to time when he opens Sky, and he kinda feels like a proud parent each and every time he runs into them and sees how much they've leveled up.
Since he's an avid reader I would think he'd be a big fan of worldbuilding and lore and so I think he'd really like exploring the lore of Sky. He follows the official Sky pages on Twitter and YT to keep updated.
In terms of what Kuroko would look like in Sky (since you can customize your Sky kid's outfit and hair), he would dress very simplistically. His fit would almost always be something from the regular accessory constellations. Nothing flashy or out of the ordinary. The only non-default accessory he consistently wears is a pair of sunglasses he got during one season (a season is a period where you can do limited-time themed events and be able to get special cosmetics and emotes). He's pretty frugal in-game, so even though he has a fair number of candles (the in-game currency), he doesn't spend it that much. And the things he spends it on are small accessories and other trinkets.
Somehow, his Misdirection translates into Sky as well because most people really don't notice him, so it's pretty difficult for him to open special doors that require the help of at least two people. That's why he always befriends people who notice him. He knows that they've got his back and he's got theirs.
In Sky, you can also leave messages for other players to read. They usually take the form of paper boats or cranes you can place in any body of water in Sky, and you can write whatever you want on them (within reason of course). So, I can imagine Kuroko would always leave encouraging messages for others like "Don't give up!" and "You can do it!" Those messages always get so much attention, but nobody ever knows who writes them.
KAGAMI
Tumblr media
Is almost never on by himself. Most of the time, he's online when Kuroko is online and they do quests together.
Since he's more of an infrequent player, he's often confused about certain aspects of the game and will need Kuroko to help him out.
He likes the game for the pretty scenery and nice music but doesn't really engage with it on a deeper level since he's not super informed about The Lore™. As a result, he's constantly asking Kuroko for explanations as to why certain things in the game are happening.
The rare times he is on by himself he's kind of awkward in navigating the maps and making friends. I would say he's more of a moth than anyone on this list, which means that whenever he's by himself, other players feel more inclined to help him out, which is how he kind of gets adopted by multiple different players. He would log into Sky and check his friend constellations to find that multiple people have gifted him light (you need light to be able to forge hearts which are a more valuable type of in-game currency that buys you more extravagant cosmetics compared to candles).
I would say he often gets sidetracked while doing quests. He'd see somewhere that he hadn't explored and drop everything to go check it out.
The way his Sky kid is dressed is a mixture of regular and seasonal cosmetics that he's managed to snag. He always tries to make himself look cool on Sky, so he cares a little bit more about his appearance because of that.
He is perpetually broke on Sky. Almost always less than 10 candles to his name. So when the time comes for him to buy a cosmetic that he really likes, he's constantly having to hustle last-minute and collect enough light around the kingdom to forge candles.
KISE
Tumblr media
Either plays by himself or with the rest of the gang however he much prefers company and is not above pestering the others to come online and play with him.
Also a regular player because the game is cute and fun for him. He probably plays it a lot while he's on break during a modeling session or during lunch breaks at school.
He knows the basic lore of Sky but doesn't go any further. He's not one to create theories like that because he also kinda takes it at face value.
He's the type to unlock all the nodes in his friends' constellations so he can do cute things with them (unlocking friendship nodes means you can initiate gestures with friends like high-fives, hugs, piggyback rides, and more).
Because he's so used to being followed and chased by fangirls due to his modeling career, he likes the anonymity of Sky because it gives him the freedom to approach and chat with other players as an equal.
He is the flashiest Sky kid out of everyone. If he's not grinding to get all the seasonal cosmetics, he's using real money to splurge on some of the cosmetics you can't buy with in-game currency. The others sometimes are embarrassed by how much he sticks out, but Kise never lets that deter him from being the most fashionable person on the server.
He also likes leaving messages in paper boats, but they're usually generic messages like a "hi!" with a bunch of emojis. Anyone in the gang who finds his messages will screenshot them and send them to Kise via text to let him know that his messages have been spotted.
MIDORIMA
Tumblr media
He plays this game on and off, but when he's on, he's on.
He usually plays with other people since he's more likely to play if there's a group session, but it's not uncommon to catch him doing quests by himself or simply just exploring parts of the map he's never been to before.
He strikes me as someone who'd be super deep into Sky lore and making his own theories. But his tsundere ass would pretend like he's not into it and swears that he only got this game because Kise and Momoi begged him to, even though there are too many occasions of other people in the gang asking if he wants to join them to do daily quests and Midorima responding that he's already done them, and everyone wises up that he likes the game far more than he lets on, but they don't call him out on it.
He only bothers playing with actual friends. He doesn't really interact with other strangers on the server. So, if he's on Sky by himself, he's truly just doing everything alone. Any nodes unlocked in his friendship constellation are unlocked by other people in the gang. He'd rather die than use his candles to unlock a hug emote with any of his friends.
Since there's a set limit to how many candles you can forge per day (there's a limited amount of light you can collect across the seven realms to forge candles and it refreshes daily), he takes note of where the biggest/most candles are and remembers that if he needs to forge a bunch of candles in a hurry but doesn't have time to collect every single fragment of light across all the realms.
In terms of what Midorima's Sky kid would look like, he'd be dressed very smartly. No matter what outfit he has on, he always seems to look like a scholar of some sort. Even his hair is well put together. He's not one to shy away from seasonal cosmetics, but they're not the over-the-top outfits like Kise would have on. He dresses a lot more modestly like Kuroko but not in that "default setting" sort of way.
He sometimes hoards spells (in Sky, you can purchase/be given spells that can allow you to give your Sky kid temporary boosts or powers like recharging your wings faster, making you taller or shorter, or even giving you a different outfit. These spells can also be shared with friends if you hold their hand while activating them.) He sometimes uses the outfit spells as a test run to see if something looks nice on him. And if it does, he'll save up enough candles to buy the real thing.
AOMINE
Tumblr media
Very infrequent player. He'll log on once to wreak havoc all day before disappearing for weeks at a time.
He never plays unless someone else in the gang is also online. Especially if it's Kuroko.
Doesn't give a fuck about the lore at all and because he plays so infrequently he never has any idea what goes on.
He also doesn't have that much winged light (the more winged light you collect the more energy you have to fly) but somehow he manages to explore just as well as everyone else in the gang. It's kind of impressive.
He has no problem charging into the more dangerous areas of Sky. In fact, it would be better to say he likes to get himself into danger on purpose for that sweet, sweet adrenaline rush.
In terms of what his Sky kid looks like, I would say he also has very default accessories like Kuroko, not because he prefers them but because he's so infrequently online that he never earns enough seasonal candles to buy specially-themed accessories. However, trust and believe he will still make do with what he has. He seems like the type of person to prefer all the goofiest-looking cosmetics like beards and bushy eyebrows. It almost annoys the others how unserious his Sky kid looks at all times, but he never pays them any attention.
Sometimes when he's bored he'll try and exploit glitches in the game to see what they do or to try and get into an inaccessible area of the map.
MOMOI
Tumblr media
Another frequent player. She loves this game DOWN. After school, she likes to get cozy in her room and hop online.
She enjoys playing both by herself and with the rest of the gang, she's not biased toward one or the other.
She really enjoys the lore of Sky and does things like analyze the appearance of each realm so she can make theories. I bet she has a notebook where she keeps track of all the lore and her interpretations of it. She exchanges theories with Kuroko a lot. Also Midorima, too, but he'll pretend like he's not interested in it.
She mainly likes to play with the rest of the gang but she's not opposed to making friends with a couple strangers on the server here and there. Sometimes if nobody from the gang is online, she'll do daily quests with these other players and sometimes add them to her friendship constellation.
You will never catch her broke on Sky. She does regular candle runs to replenish her earnings (going on a candle run means you travel through all the realms and collect all the available light so you can forge it into candles. You can typically earn about 20 candles in a day if you do a full candle run). She is probably the most consistent with gifting friends light and hearts, too. She's also the best person to ask about upcoming seasons and other Sky-related info since she follows the developers and the official Sky page on YouTube and Twitter.
Her Sky kid is the prettiest out of everyone's. Since she's such a frequent player, she has a bunch of seasonal cosmetics that she loves to alternate between. Every time the others see her, she's in a new outfit. She's just constantly decked out to the nines. She and Kise sometimes coordinate their outfits.
She has accumulated a lot of placeable props in her inventory (placeable props are decorative or functional items you can place on the ground in Sky. They could be anything from a cushion to a swing set.) She also loves to make shared spaces (shared spaces are little shrine areas that you can create and decorate as your space using props you have acquired. These spaces can also be accessed by other players). Her shared spaces are always cute and well-decorated. She likes to create them in secluded areas of the map so she and the rest of the gang can just hang out in those spaces together away from everyone else.
MURASAKIBARA
Tumblr media
Not a super frequent player but more active than people expect. I peg him as a fan of cozy games.
Most times he prefers to play with other people, but sometimes he will have days where he'll just go off by himself and get up to God knows what.
He loosely follows the lore but doesn't really care about theories the way some of the others do. He doesn't really play Sky to think too hard about anything. He mainly just plays it to take his mind off other things.
Candle runs are so much work so sometimes he waits for others in the gang to come online before doing them for the sole purpose of holding onto their hands in-game and letting them do all the work on his behalf.
He loves accepting gifts of light and hearts but almost always forgets to return the favor. Kise complains about it the most.
His Sky kid is surprisingly well put together. When choosing hairstyles, he'll always go for the longer-haired ones out of habit. He sometimes likes wearing the pigtail hairstyles, too. In terms of cuteness, his Sky kid is second only to Momoi's. You will never catch him lacking when it comes to outfits.
He likes to antagonize Kagami when Kagami shows ignorance in something related to Sky. A simple "Huh? You didn't know even this much?" would be enough to send Kagami spiraling for ages. It's a very hilarious sight to see walls of text above the head of Kagami's Sky kid as he argues with Murasakibara through the in-game chat function.
AKASHI
Tumblr media
Another unexpectedly frequent player. It's a refreshing change of pace from his busy life.
He has fun playing solo and playing with friends, and it astounds the others what he can get up to when left to play alone. He could probably tackle some of the more dangerous realms singlehandedly.
He is another person big on lore and exchanges theories with the other lore fans of the squad, focusing on even the most minute details of the map and the characters to make inferences. Sometimes he'll think of theories that the others hadn't even remotely considered. He also follows the official Sky page for updates, too and will (along with Momoi) be one of the first to know about new Sky-related info.
He has the best control of his Sky kid while flying out of everyone. He's just really good at maneuvering tight spaces or windy currents. Also really good at diving. The others never have to worry about him if they're traveling around the map. It's actually them who have to keep up with Akashi.
He's not one to officially befriend a lot of other players per se, but he does use the common areas scattered across the map to talk to people sometimes. He enjoys the idea of being able to approach whoever without worrying about people being intimidated by him. Being able to just be treated as a regular person feels nice.
His Sky kid is always dressed so stylishly. Not too flashy like Kise but not too proper like Midorima. Akashi lets himself get creative with the outfit coordination. He especially loves the different masks you can wear and loves collecting those the most.
You can also have instruments in Sky that are actually playable, so during group gaming sessions, he likes to sit down and play songs for the squad. You can either go buy the sheet music you can unlock through constellations or you can just play whatever random notes you like. Either way, Akashi finds a way to entertain his friends.
HOW WOULD THEY ALL PLAY TOGETHER AS A GROUP?
First of all, Akamomo as the canonical activity planners of their friend circle would be the ones to reach out to everyone for availabilities so they could arrange a group gaming session.
Most of the time they do full group sessions during new seasons where maybe new parts of the map are unlocked and they all get to discover it together.
Aomine is usually the one who puts everyone else's safety at risk in the more dangerous realms. There are a few realms with dark dragons that knock winged light out of players if they spot you, and Aomine sometimes deliberately provokes them. Most of the time he isn't able to dodge, which leaves everyone else to grab his winged light for him after he gets knocked out.
Sometimes Murasakibara disappears mid-game to go grab snacks so you'll see his Sky kid just snoozing while he's inactive.
Kuroko, Momoi, Akashi, and Midorima have fixations on cave paintings in Sky and will sometimes spend several minutes going back and forth on theories and interpretations of lore.
On occasion, after all of their daily quests are done, they like to find secluded parts of the map to just chill and talk. They like utilizing Momoi's shared spaces for that specific purpose.
Sometimes Kise manages to convince everyone to coordinate their outfits,
Kagami constantly has to be saved by the Teiko gang members when he runs out of energy to fly, and it humiliates him to no end. Especially if Aomine ends up saving him because he hates owing Aomine favors.
Kuroko loves using the high-five emote a lot, especially with Kagami and Aomine.
Kise refuses to go into scary parts of the map unless someone holds his hand in-game.
Aomine will sometimes break off from the group and come back holding a crab that he picked up from who knows where.
Akashi is the one who scopes out an area for potential danger first before letting the others start wandering around. If he feels like somebody in the group is about to be in danger, he'll start calling out to them to come back.
Midorima is constantly shepherding the others whenever they get distracted from doing their daily tasks. He will always make his annoyance known whenever the rest of the group is not doing what he thinks they should be doing. He sometimes enlists Momoi for help.
All in all, they're chaotic as fuck when they play altogether, but they admit that it makes everything all the more fun.

a little late for halloween but shhhhhh
In-depth notes and headcanons below cut
These were really fun to come up with. Also, let’s say that for this AU, Hogwarts is located in Japan and there are inter-house quidditch teams. I imagine the GoM were all on the same quidditch teams years 1-4 (team Teiko; they were so gifted, they were allowed to play in their first years), but then in their 5th years, split up to join their own teams because they got bored of always dominating
I based their best subjects/magical skills off of their canon best school subjects (and what we know about their skills and characteristics from the series itself).
Normally in quidditch in the series, I think a character picks a position and sticks with it, but it made more sense to me that players should be able to be swapped around. They only play one position at a time, but have the choice to try out any position they’re qualified for, even allowed to swap positions during a single match.
Kuroko
House: Hufflepuff
Best Subject(s): Ancient Runes, Divination
Quidditch Position: Chaser, Beater, Seeker (can play multiple)
Bloodline: half-blood (from a long line of pure-blood wizards on mother’s side)
Patronus: stoat/pole-cat
Other: has a natural knack for vanishing spells and invisibility charms (so much so that he himself is hard to notice), struggles with more advanced types of magic but can Apparate; when his mother left her pure-blood family to be with a muggle, she was disowned and a cursed was placed upon any of her future children, for them to never be recognized by the great wizarding families, luckily this just manifested as Kuroko’s misdirection; also a natural Occulmens due to the curse (his mind can’t be read)
Kagami
House: Hufflepuff
Best Subject: Defense Against the Dark Arts
Quidditch Position: Chaser, Beater
Bloodline: half-blood (muggle father, witch mother[deceased])
Patronus: tiger
Other: went to an American wizarding school before transferring in his 5th year; met Aomine before being sorted, hated him, and wished really really hard not to be placed in the same house as him (which is why the hat ultimately placed him in Hufflepuff and not Gryffindor); natural knack for fire-based magic and flying + flying spells; his mother died when he was a baby, and his father raised him as a muggle so everything was new to him as his powers manifested, Himuro, from a wizarding family and magic himself, was a big help to him at this time; Alex, ex-professional Quidditch player and Flying Instructor at their American wizarding school was another big help
Kise
House: Gryffindor
Best Subject: Transfiguration, Charms
Quidditch Position: Chaser (all positions when he unlocks Perfect Copy)
Bloodline: half-blood (not pure-blood, but family has been magic users for many generations)
Patronus: fox
Other: still a model, often featured in Witch Weekly; always forcing Aomine to duel and always losing; knack for transfiguration; one of his sisters and his father works for the Ministry, his other sister is on a professional quidditch team
Midorima
House: Ravenclaw
Best Subject(s): Potions, Herbology
Quidditch Position: Chaser
Bloodline: Muggle-born (his parents are muggle doctors)
Patronus: stag
Other: made Prefect in his 5th year; while not his best subjects, he is very interested in Divination and Numerology; made Head Boy in his 7th year, finally beating out Akashi at something
Aomine
House: Gryffindor
Best Subject: Defense Against the Dark Arts
Quidditch Position: Beater, Chaser (can do both)
Bloodline: half-blood (both parents are magic, but not from pure-blood line)
Patronus: panther
Other: also pretty good at Muggle Studies; his dad and Momoi’s are school friends; naturally gifted at flying, quidditch, and offensive/defensive spells; grew up in the muggle world, so very familiar with most things muggle, loves basketball still but equally as obsessed with Quidditch
Momoi
House: Slytherin
Best Subject: History of Magic, Numerology
Bloodline: pure-blood (but her family isn’t stuffy about it and are therefore looked down on by other pure-blood families)
Patronus: non-corporeal
Other: made prefect in her 5th year; while not a player herself, she is very obsessed with Quidditch; childhood friends with Aomine because their dads were friends at school; natural knack for Numerology; her worst subject is Potions
Murasakibara
House: Ravenclaw
Best Subject: Charms
Quidditch Position: Keeper, Beater
Bloodline: pure-blood
Patronus: polar bear
Other: frequent shopper at Honeydukes and menace to the kitchen staff, often the last to leave the Great Hall at meal times because he eats so much; family is one of the longest lines of pure-blood wizards, so grew up knowing Akashi before school by family association
Akashi
House: Slytherin
Best Subject(s): all of them
Quidditch Position: Seeker, Chaser (also the Captain)
Bloodline: pure-blood (from one of the oldest/most respected families)
Patronus: lion
Other: made prefect in his 5th year; parsel-tongue (can speak to snakes); seer (sees the future); Legilimens (can read minds); equally gifted at light and dark magic

PROPAGANDA
Talia al Ghul
GRANT MORRISON YOU WILL NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF HEAVEN FOR CONVINCING PEOPLE THAT TALIA WOULD BE A BAD MOM WITH GENOCIDAL AMBITIONS YOU DUMB FUCK. She did nothing wrong I hate you racist retcons. Son of the demon origin truthers RISE
Makoto Hanamiya
If you scroll down to comments on the Kuroko no Basuke wiki entry for Hanamiya, you'll see automatically that people do not like it when you like Hanamiya. I started on tumblr with KnB and Hanamiya is my profile picture. He's my favorite character. Ooh, people don't like that. We've had discussions about him. Because of his grueling and blatantly cruel way of playing basketball, where he goes out of his way to physically injure star players on the court—in front of the referees no less, he is probably the most hated character in the series. I practically wrote a treatise on him a few years back, someone had said that Hanamiya was way worse than another "villain" character, Haizaki. I argued that Hanamiya was the better person of the two. Hanamiya is 100% an asshole and he 100% maims people for fun. He is not a good person by any stretch of the imagination. However, he is redeemable. Haizaki physically assaults women and by reading the wiki entry on him, one can surmise that off-screen/off-page, he rapes girls and women—frequently. Hanamiya, from what we can see and glean from the wiki, has never harmed a female. Not once. That's a line even he won't cross. He also doesn't abuse his teammates, at all. He's on a first-name basis with one of them. Just like with Arlong in One Piece, Hanamiya went after a character connected to the main group, and that made him evil incarnate in people's eyes. The fandom is volatile to people who like Hanamiya or any of his pals. We get mocked and harassed for it. If you allow the Anon function, you get some pretty nasty stuff sent to you. Those same people, who loathe Hanamiya, practically worship Haizaki. Haizaki who on screen, canonically, picked a woman up BY HER THROAT. He uses and abuses women, he feels entitled to do so, he canonically abuses his own teammates and coach. He's a monster but the fans love him and hold him over Hanamiya and the fans who like Hanamiya. That's why Hanamiya is misrepresented by fans. Yeah, he is an asshole who goes out of his way to do bad things. But he's less of an asshole than Haizaki. Haizaki is a felonius woman-beater and possible rapist. Hanamiya deserves better and the fans deserve to be treated better, because Haizaki is so much worse and doesn't deserve his golden pedestal.

Round 2
Daiki Aomine (Kuroko no Basket) vs Shoei Barou (Blue Lock)
Daiki Aomine
Tumblr media
Sport: Basketball
Appearance: short dark blue hair, dark blue eyes, 192 cm (6' 3½"), japanese
Propaganda: Aomine Daiki was the ace player in the prodigious group known as "The Generation of Miracles." This was a group of middle school basketball players who were so unbelievably talented and gifted that they completely dominated all other schools they came across for 3 years straight. Aomine was the first to unlock his "potential," effortlessly scoring baskets and dunks left and right without any opposition. This however, turned out to be a massive burden to him. Aomine, the one who played and loved basketbally more than anyone else, now found himself alone on the court. No one could challenge him. The sport he dedicated himself to lost all meaning. There was no longer any fun to be had. This realization broke Aomine. He went from a smiling, outgoing guy to a more sullen one. His mood completely shifted, and he would remain this way until he could find a worthy rival. Ultimately, Aomine's journey shows that the true fun in sports comes not from winning, but from the competition and fierce battles one can have. To be able to go all out to the best of one's abilities and have fun is the essence of sports.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shoei Barou
Tumblr media
Sport: Football
Appearance: Long black hair, red eyes, 187 cm, Japanese. In more recent chapters he's literally built like Miguel O'hara.
Propaganda: Blue Lock (the project) aims to create a striker that plays for themselves first and foremost. Scoring goals is the most important thing here and Barou applies to that perfectly. He is arrogant and selfish and only cares about being the protagonist of every game he's in. He calls himself 'King' and so does everyone else. He 'devours' his teammates for the sake of scoring. One time he passed to a guy he had been defeated by in the past and imagined an entire alternate future reality where he was alone in his home drinking and watching that guy score the goal that won him the world cup??? And that motivated him to develop a new play style??????!!!!!??? If I remember correctly he also stole the ball off him. Also the only match that we've seen him cooperate is because his coach literally gave him an entire team to lead without question. He's the best.

Hi! Can you do gom+kagami going to the Philippines with their filipino s/o and seeing how basketball in the Philippines is basically like a religion there? Like they see very streetball happening almost everywhere.
Anon, you do not know how much I vibrated in excitement seeing this ask. Fun fact, I'm part Filipino and went to visit my mom's home province last year! Admin Neon
Tumblr media
Kuroko: While he wouldn't spend most of his vacation in your home country playing basketball, he definitely does give you pleading eyes every time he sees your cousins leave to go play. Almost like he's asking permission to go as well. You have to go with him, of course, otherwise he'll never be able to interpret the calls the other people on the court are making since he doesn't know a lick of the language.
Kagami: It all feels like a new challenge for Kagami. With so many people who play streetball, he almost feels like a kid in a candy store. He grew up playing streetball in America, so he's very eager to see how it differs in the Philippines. You practically have to beg him not to play every single day because he's constantly going out to find one of your friends, cousins, or even a random neighbor to play with.
Kise: He's completely mesmerized by the first game he sees happening in the streets and then is even more shocked when he sees another one only a few streets away. Kise ends up asking you how to say certain phrases and words in your dialect so he can keep up with what's happening. He will absolutely butcher saying them all the second he decides he wants to try playing.
Aomine: A little part of his 'I'm better than everyone' attitude comes back to him when he sees just how good some of the streetballers are. Though the language barrier definitely doesn't make things easy for him, Aomine feels just that much more cocky when he actually wins in a game. Don't teach him how to trash talk in your language or you might never get him off that court again.
Midorima: He wasn't originally intending to play basketball at all while on vacation with you in your home country, but you were the one to assure him it would be okay to join once in a while. He still tries to keep how much he plays to a minimum, but he can't help but feel proud of himself whenever someone compliments one of his perfect shots, even if he can't exactly understand all the words they say.
Murasakibara: Let's be honest, Murasakibara towers above your average Filipino, so he wasn't expecting to have fun playing. Imagine his surprise when he nearly gets schooled after you convince him to play with your friends and family. Even he is forced to admit there are many different people who are talented in the sport and he stops refusing whenever someone asks him for a match.
Akashi: A part of you feels like Akashi must have done his research on your home country, because he doesn't even seem surprised that basketball is a major thing for people there. It's amazing how easily he seems to fit right in despite the language barrier and before you know it, he's leading his own little team comprised of your neighbors for an impromptu tournament.

Manager beating Hanamiya at chess: how would the boys react? Lmao I love this man but someone needs to humble his ass
he’d totally spin it like he let you win on purpose
when the game first starts, he’s all jokes and smiles. when he starts realising what a good position you’ve got your pieces in, his face goes a bit tense, his back’s a little stiffer
he’s still grinning and chatting - cause he can’t look like he’s having to seriously concentrate - but it’s just not sincere anymore
when it’s finally checkmate, he leans back and says, “what a surprise. you’re just so skilled”
with just a light dosing of sarcasm, really trying to make you doubt whether you won through skill or because he let you win
whereas, inside, he’s running through the game again trying to figure out where he could have possibly gone wrong to have let this happen
because it has to be because he made a mistake, and not because you saw a bigger game than him, right?
it takes several more matches (with hanamiya becoming increasing less chatty/self-confident, and much more focused, probably reading up on different gambits and openings in the evening) before hanamiya starts to admit you’re a better a player than him and starts asking for advice
though, of course, he’s not going phrase it like that
it’s more of a “how much chess have you been playing, you nerd?” or “weird move. what was the point of that?”
you know, normal compliments

I love awkward aoka.
They are often so awkward when interacting off-court. Literally, the only times they bicker are when they play. They can have different opinions, even though a lot of times not.
Because neither of them has any personal vendetta or history and this is what I actually like about them. Kagami is a new part of their in-group and aomine (even during post-canon) often acts reluctant every time he has to join in (even tho he secretly wants to).
They adore each other's play, and probably have been teased about being similar despite ✨rivals✨ so they often adamantly try to prove that they are not, making them less likely to openly bicker outside of court.
Not to mention Kagami didn't know anything about Teikou yet can still relate to Aomine because of his own relationship with Himuro. I love imagining them going out in a group and then Kise mentioned something that only Teikou alumni can relate and Kagami just 🧍 while Aomine rolls his eyes. Lowkey he probably also can't relate because he stopped coming to school at some point. Also, experiencing burnout and depression, he often felt detached even though he's physically there so he'd be like. "I don't remember that? Who's that? Oh, I forgot."
Then he looks at Kagami, secretly feeling grateful he's not the only one that felt out of the loop. But they rather just sneak glances at each other, pretending they're looking at something else than admit it.
If they ever bicker, it's literally the same thing over and over again. Aomine grumbles because he doesn't want to seem like he's enjoying Kagami's company but then asks him to 1on1, Kagami looks angry but then tries to get him to talk about basketball tricks or NBA which Aomine answers with he doesn't care much, he just likes playing them and he called Kagami a nerd which despite looking angry, Kagami would be amused. Him? Delinquent, bad at academics, and gets along better with anyone around Aomine is being called a nerd?
Aomine secretly grows fonder the longer they interact and Kagami realizes his own feelings are literally my staple hc hhngggghh
bonus:
Kuroko: kagami-kun, please tell aomine-kun his burger is ready Kagami: hey Aomine, already frowning: what Kagami: the food is ready Aomine: then go get it yourself Kagami: I meant YOUR OWN BURGER. THAT YOU ORDERED Aomine: ...oh
I love them so much, they're the best.
