books i have read recently <3
everything, everything by nicola yoon - review: it wasn’t awful, i thought the plot twist was predictable and the romance seemed a bit rushed but maybe that’s just me. would read again though! - rate: 6/10
holding up the universe by jennifer niven - review: again, romance seemed a bit rushed at first. it wasn’t the worst read but i don’t know it just didn’t have me connecting with one of the main characters, he just seemed full of himself. would read again but wouldn’t personally own it for myself - rate: 5/10
ace of spades by faridah àbíké-íyímídé - review: it was so nice to have a book that didn’t have the main characters get together. both characters are queer and black, which was nice to see in a book. i can’t say i wasn’t completely shocked by the turn of events though. this book is what pretty little liars tried to do. it kept you at the edge of the seat, wondering with the characters what the heck was happening. i would buy this book to own for sure - rate: 8/10
the beginning of everything by robyn schneider - review: to be honest, i am not a big fan of the whole ‘person has a perfect life until they find out their perfect partner cheats and as they’re leaving they get into a tragic accident’ trope. yes i have read another book with this same exact trope. it was nice to see how the main character changed throughout the book, but oh my god i hated how this book ended, i hated the love interest. bleh no - rate: 4/10

The Beginning of Everything by Kristen Ashley
5 stars
audiobook
Okay, this is truly an epic fantasy, with varying POV’s, centuries long rivalries, and imminent world destruction on the horizon! I will admit, I was a little hesitant at the start, there were so many characters to get to know, but I quickly had them sorted out, and they quickly had my heart. Layer upon layer of stories, deep intrigue and deception, and royal families that are strong and fraying, all focused on the magic that must be done. Our couples were chosen by the fates, not each other, and they think their task to be simple, but *squeal* Frey and the elves know better (we get them in one scene, and that solidified I needed to settle in for the story!). I was completely drawn in by each couple, their stories, and all the danger surrounding them, and without taking a breath, dove instantly into the next part of the story!

Saw this amazing animation reel by animator Curie Lu and was inspired to do some animation with glowing freckles Danny.
I also made a second version with a special effect on the eyes like in the reference but I'm not sure whether it looks better or worse:
