*So little known you had to buy a shitty/ancient edition just to own it. I’m considering Dogsbody, Fire and Hemlock, and Tale of Time City “well-known” by this rubric because they had recent reprint editions accessible in many US bookstores/Amazon, which is why I left them out!

I was tagged by @enjoliquej to do the OC meme challenge! I technically had semi-earlier first OCs, but Angela was the one that is more prominent in my mind from middle school haha. Little middle school me thought they were being soooooo clever naming her Angela since she was an angel.....This was a ton of fun to draw!

Okay, so I found out about this old Kirby enemy called "Bounder" that was cut from later remakes of the games he was in for an unknown reason.
And I bring him up because his original design, well, it looks very... familiar:

“Isn’t that just like Them!” I said. “Why aren’t you hating Them? I do.” He even laughed then. “Oh I did,” he said. “I hated Them for aeons, make no mistake. But it wore out. You’ll find that. Things wear out, specially feelings.”

it's always Lovecraft associated with Eldritch horror when Diana Wynne Jones has this way of capturing things beyond human comprehension .

Do you think Shisui, who has had some degree of hostile encounters with every race of middle earth that he's met so far, would initially be very wary of Hobbits? I mean, they're nice and keep offering food, but what are they hiding? And would the hobbits be at all flattered by this bc finally someone's taking them seriously, or offended?
Oh absolutely hobbits are suspicious people who would be eying him up just as badly, they are double-talkers with all their gossiping and cutting remarks and Shisui is not confident enough with the language to feel like he's surviving these interactions lol....
AND Shisui's not stupid, wealth is something hard to hold onto and land-wealth isn't something you can lock in a safe... It takes time and skill and reputation to hold onto a land as beautiful and bountiful as the Shire. Also he absolutely clocked those donkey-kick-strong feet the hobbits have and, well, I headcanon that kushina was a pocket rocket of 4'9-5'0 rage so shisui has a healthy wariness of short people that's engrained pretty damn deep
On the other hand, shisui had managed well enough with deeply suspicious but communal people before with the Aridapo, so the hobbits are more like their northern counterparts? They're not migratory, not any more at least and Shisui has a pleased 'aha' moment when he finds out about the hobbits wandering days and likes that he DID clock them right, but the size of their families and their insular ways make them more similar to the desert than Gondorians for eg. Shisui would do well with them in the same way he did surprisingly well with the desert people, and I feel like shisui could slip more into the 'Ranger' category than 'disturber of the peace' with Gandalf.
As for the hobbits pov... The Rangers around the Shire protect the borders and supplement the Hobbit Bounders but they don't really mingle with the hobbits, coming across as solidary, whereas Gandalf swings by and sets off fireworks before stealing a respectable hobbit away for 18 months and they come back with, idk, a tramp stamp and a lover in Rohan??? Shisui would deffo be Big Folk Intruder but much more acceptable lol... And as for shisui taking them seriously... I think he would be very well received by the Bounders, he actually wants to talk security with them, not just kill wolves and disappear into the mist, and with his disjointed language but earnest intentions, I think the Bounders would very much take a shine to the young-looking lad (men, after all, age differently and live less than hobbits, although rangers with Dunedain blood are much longer lived than hobbits and wizards get VERY old but this one is OBVIOUSLY still a baby so it's fine!!!) so I can see a partnership of mutual respect creeping in and then this would absolutely smooth the way for shisui to meet other hobbits
Great Grandmother Took is immensely pleased that The New Wizard takes her waving her cast iron skillet deadly seriously

Hi all,
I’m very pleased to say that the new blog has reached 1,000 strong once again. A massive thank you to all of you and so good to see a lot of familiar names back.
I was going to delay the World Cup of Bondage Models III, but given the state of tumblr, I might get shitcanned again. So, I’ll be posting the 3rd qualifying group later and will continue with the original plans.
