Ok milgrammies I just need to tell you this because this is really good stuff and may give us an idea on where we can expect milgram to go in the future. So basically The Caligula Effect 2 which was also produced/directed by Takuya Yamanaka has a trans/gn character in it and it’s really well how it’s handled and stuff.

Like seeing the Caligula effect games really makes me understand the thought process behind milgram more (especially with the music/psychology themes and all the flower motifs) and seeing that Yamanaka is supportive of the LGBTQ+ community like this and is able to to incorporate themes like that into the game makes me definitely hopeful on where milgrams going. And especially how with Fuuta and Muu’s T2 interrogations having a question “are you satisfied with your gender?”. And the whole thing with Es using they/them pronouns and not really having a gender would be very interesting to explore with their backstory.

and TODAY in crossover AUs only about 5 people will understand: hey what if CPUK characters got put in a Caligula Effect game

I'm planning to draw more stuff for the AU in the future but I had to post something or else I would explode, so here's Jack (acting as club president), Sprout/Hoedown, J0hn, and Therapuppy/Folk, along with a glimpse of Iggy and Nelson :] I'll put a bit more info about the AU under the cut-

The AU is mainly based on the premise and trajectory of the NCCTs- Prism puts everyone in a dreamscape together and they have to stop her. I was having trouble deciding who would be the character to guide everyone, so I've split the role between Iggy and Nelson, as seen here. The rest of the Go-Home club (according to my CURRENT PLAN at least) is made up of Squid Jenny, Twist, Google, Larry, Dantoinette, and a secret surprise character >:3 As for the musicians... they would probably include Doctor Order, Peppermint, CM2K (as Mach 2, I know I said I was basing this on the NCCTs but the timeline's a bit wacky), Prismatic Shadow, and some others. :]

From the moment she showed up, I didn't trust Sasara's sweetness and optimism. There has to be some angle, I told myself. Either she's faking it for nefarious reasons or she's completely lost her grip on reality.

That makes it sound like I've always distrusted Sasara. Nope. It's just my initial impression, that was alarm and distrust. It was followed by bafflement and then fondness and respect and she became one of my favorite characters in the game.

She's not evil, but she does have her reasons for why she sees the world differently.

Patterns?

I've heard my style described as "punchy", and I think I see it here. I tend not to ease into things with atmosphere or setting (which could work against me, in some cases) and instead lead with something declarative. I'm pretty quick to establish which character's pov we're working with.

Some of these examples vary in tone, but I think my voice is consistent. (But then, I would. That's really more for the reader to decide.)

tbh the fact that Gin and Mu-kun are each other's parallels (and therefore that Swap Out is both of their themes) makes a lot of sense but it is kinda funny to me to interpret the lyrics based on both their characters and it's. like.

μ, Aria, and χ from The Caligula Effect Series could all theoretically kill Macbeth!

Gender clause: None of them are men

Unconventional birth clause: They’re all AI that were programmed

Birth parent clause: The Caligula anime states that the game’s male protagonist, Ritsu Shikishima, is the one who programmed μ at the very least, which implies he also programmed Aria and χ.

Yes, μ, Aria, and χ from The Caligula Effect series could all kill Macbeth!

All three of them are referred to with she/her pronouns and were programmed AI, applying them all for the Gender Clause and Unconventional Birth Clause!

As for the Birth Parent Clause, I couldn't find any information on who their creator(s) canonically is/are, so I won't take this clause into account until someone comes forward with some evidence for one side or the other. Thank you for your submission!

Speaking of foils and mirrors, it is extraordinarily hard to top what Caligula 2 does with it's character themes.

You might know how Caligula works, it's a story where a bunch of traumatised individuals are stuck in a vocaloid created matrix and need to confront their own trauma to escape, as well as fight off the 'musicians'. The 'musicians' are also traumatised individuals and they rule the matrix via song, so each of them has a character theme (composed by a vocaloid producer like deco*27, pinnochio-p, ym, cosmo@p etc) that functions as an arc battle theme, which is then remixed into a boss theme.

One of the best way to make sure you explore every cast member is to essentially foil them. So each arc focuses on one musician and one party member.

Now, with all that preamble out of the way, Caligula 2 expands on this concept. You have a vocaloid assist member who can cover the musician songs and sing them to give your team a power boost for a short while. It rules.

But now each song is actually written in such a way, that by depending on from where you look, it could be a song for the musician-

Or that character foiling party member.

These songs rule.

Whilst they don't have subs, NIS helpfully did translate all of the song lyrics so you can just look em up to check when you get there.

Our third birthday character for January 1 is Marie Mizuguchi from The Caligula Effect, the infamous Wicked of the Ostinato Musicians.

Fun fact: Marie Mizuguchi's birthday is 1/1, but her alter-ego Marie Amabuki's is 4/15. Even though Wicked's used to taking what she wants, even she doesn't get two birthdays, so we'll be celebrating her just today.
