Loving You Was Not A Choice
Read on Archive Of Our Own
Title - Loving You Was Not A Choice Rating - General Audiences Pairing - Patcap (Pat Butcher/The Captain) Word Count - 1701 Summary -  "It had become somewhat of a routine. Charles would replace the flowers in the bakery at the end of the week, and Pat would give him something to take home for dessert. He didn't really do it for the cakes though, just being able to see Pat at the end of the week was more than enough." Notes - This fic was inspired by this beautiful artwork by the amazing @patcaps Please go and check out their stuff, it’s masterpiece after masterpiece.
Excerpt - The small bell above the door of the bakery rang as Charles pushed through it, the smell of freshly baked bread and sweet cakes flooding his senses. Although his flower shop was right next to PattyCakes, the walls were too thick to let any of the scents through, so the only time he could indulge in the sweet aroma was when he visited the bakery. When he first opened his flower shop next door, Pat, the owner of the bakery, had gone over and introduced himself, giving Charles a small lemon loaf cake as a shop-warming gift. The next day he'd had taken over a bunch of flowers as a 'thank you' for the cake. A week later Pat visited the flower shop to ask Charles how to keep the flowers alive longer. Charles replaced them for him. He wasn't sure why he did it. He could've easily told him some well-known methods, or explained that it was too late and he'd have to buy new ones. Instead, Charles made a new bunch almost immediately and gave it to the baker, telling Pat not to worry. Maybe it was because of the way the other man smiled at him, or because of his kind eyes. Whatever it was, Charles knew he was in trouble.

bbc ghosts oc
inspired by the bcc ghosts oc tag
Name: Georgie Lilian Watson née Cottonsworth
Occupation: Time Traveller and Lady
Sexuality: Pansexual
Pronouns: Any but mainly she/they
Age when died: 21
Born in: Calais, France
Day of Birth: 18th of August 1990
Day of Death: 18 of August 2011
Cause of Death: Shot in limbs and then stabbed with carving knife
Relationships w/ Button House Ghosts:
Lady Fanny Button: These two tend to butt heads due to the fact that Georgie is a pansexual genderfluid kid, and Fanny is still getting used to the fact that same-sex marriages exist. Other times the two just want everyone to shut up, and have slightly bonded over the fact they are both ladies of influential households.
Julian Fawcett: The main reason why these two are friends is because they are both very dirty-minded and slightly perverted. Georgie, however supports the Labour party more than the Tory party, and so the two are frenemies in a way.
Pat Butcher: These two get on like a house on fire. They both make Button House feel way more like home. They both make dad jokes and have kids who they miss. Georgie has kinda caught on to how Pat insults people, and tends to mimic him.
The Captain: These two are like the best of friends due to the fact they are both neurodivergent and LGBTQ+. Georgie was the first to catch on to the fact that the Captain was gay af for Havers and helped the Captain figure out that he might have autistic. Plus, they both had lovers who died in a war.
Mary: These two can be a bit uh, annoying to each other, mainly because Georgie is a pyromaniac. Other than that, the two try to ignore one another. Except when Friends is playing. Then the two act like besties.
Humphrey: Georgie honestly feels bad for the guy, but understands what it’s like to be left out due to ~trauma~. The two can be chaotic b-s together and tend to play jokes on the others.
Robin: These two get on each other’s nerves most of the time, due to the fact they usually can’t understand what each other is saying. They do bond over the fact they love the moon. Robin likes the moon bc he just does, and Georgie likes it bc it reminds her of Artemis.
Jemima: Georgie acts like Jemima’s mother-figure, due to the fact that Jemima lost hers and Georgie is a mother.
Thomas Throne: Thomas and Georgie are semi-besties bc they are both artists. They also are massive simps for each other and Rachel from Friends. Julian has in fact caught onto this fact, and teases them everyday.

Writing Update #28
The start of the year has been a stressful mess for me with a sprinkle of burnout. I have been extra busy with uni so I haven’t been able to write at all.
Anyway I want to make sense of BCC worldbuilding and now that I use Scrivener, organize my worldbuilding notes properly too. I know I’ll make some changes as I do the organizing and I have to fill in some blanks. I’ve started that project already, but there’s A LOT of notes. I’m also not entirely sure how I will continue writing. I’m going to completely restructure Valeri’s storyline’s first half, but I’m really close to end with it, so I’m not sure if I should just finish writing it, or start rewriting it. A lot of things will probably change in the later half too after the restructuring so I’m not sure if it’s worth it. I might also just move on to writing Cassia or Faerathos (Fiolew’s early storyline is tied to Valeri’s so I can’t write it before I’ve figured out Valeri) and let Valeri’s story sit. But I have still time to think of that while focusing on worldbuilding.
I love this plantser problem of I can’t write before I figure out the story and I can’t figure out the story before I write :’’’)

In other news yet another new WIP idea has emerged xD
Imagine my delight when I realized the Golden Age of Piracy was happening right at the same time as the height of Witch Hunts in Europe. So naturally I gained the need to write about a witch pirate. Here's what I got so far:
Young and poor Irish woman living in the Scottish Lowlands gets accused of witchcraft. She has one green and one brown eye, knowledge of traditional Irish medicine and very bad angry attitude, so clearly she is a witch. By the twist of fate she survives her execution and manages to escape her village. However the nice Quaker lady who was successfully executed at the same time won't stop haunting her. Her failed execution makes her able to see ghosts of people she has seen dying/dead (I haven't figured out the details) and experience their memories.
She flees Britain to the New World by taking a position of indentured servitude, not knowing where she will end. The ship gets raided by pirates, helmed by captain Samuel Bellamy, Black Sam, the Robin Hood of the seas. When they find out she has some knowledge of medicine, she is accepted to their ship. She joins readily, since the prospect of the servitude she agreed in desperation isn't very appealing. Soon she is deeply entangled with the Pirate Republic, and the ghosts who follow her just keep piling on.

I’m still pretty busy with uni for couple of weeks, but after that I’m planning to do some proper blog updating. Not just with this main/writing blog but also properly launch my historical dress/sewing blog where I can obsess over my current hyperfixation xD (there’s nothing yet, but it’s @dresshistorynerd if someone’s interested)
